Footbridge Farm is a quiet country get-away located on 90 wooded acres, 15 miles NE of Decorah. We are close to the mouth of Canoe Creek, the Upper Iowa River and adjacent to state DNR land. The cozy owner-built cabin has an open ceiling with exposed beams and rafters giving a sense of spaciousness. Local stone was used in the exterior walls and the floor-to-ceiling fire back behind the wood-burning stove. The floors are oak and slate. Detailed craftsmanship can be found throughout the cabin.

This Earthen house is made of sand, straw and clay. Nestled in a valley it is a peaceful and unique getaway. The cabin has four comfortable single beds and electricity, a wood stove for winter. Outside a fire pit and grill. A hand washing sink inside; and port-o-let toilet outside. You may be able to drive in (weather/road condition depending). Across the street is the local ice cream shop. We are 1 block from main street and easy walking to restaurants/bars and shops. This is the upper level unit. There is a main level unit below this one. Stairs are required to gain access to this unit.

I highly recommend Wayne & Sherrie’s cottage when you’re in the area. This place is so peaceful and beautiful! There’s a nice porch with rocking chairs to sit and enjoy the beautiful view and sounds of nature. We loved watching the hummingbirds at the feeder while eating breakfast. Everything was nice and clean and smelled fresh without added scents or perfumes which I appreciate. The bed was extremely comfortable with linens made of natural fibers. Although this cottage is right next to the main house it was still quite private with much of the view blocked from the cottage and porch. Our hosts left us to our privacy but I hope to meet them next time we come to stay.
