Private use - Authentic Renovated Machiya House

EnricoRating, 5 stars1 week ago
Very clean and maintained. Everything has been thought of. It even had adapters for the sockets, you don't even have to take your own (I still recommend it just in case). Too good for the price in my eyes. Host is very helpful and friendly, was really fun. The kitchen was also well equipped with dishes and even scissors, etc. I highly recommend it!

Stylish Kyoto House 800m to Station Peaceful Stay

StephenRating, 5 stars1 week ago
Place is very spacious, very clean and good air conditioner. Very comfortable bedding. Shower is plenty big. If you are 6ft or over you’ll need to occasionally duck but tat all over Japan. It’s definitely not a problem. Way better than staying in a hotel as I could sneak downstairs as I am always up before my family and could get work done before activities. Cabs and Ubers go right by, 7-11 is baseball throw away and an excellent I Indian restaurant on the corner. If you have a kid who wants McDonald’s it’s right there too. You’ll have to take a cab or Uber unless you want to walk 20 minutes to things but as I said they are readily available and only cost $10. Highly recommend super spacious and I felt a much better option for us than a small hotel room. Also it had a good washer for clothes.

Traditional Terrace House. Private open-air bath.

IliesRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
This house is lovely awesome and perfectly clean. Our stay was wonderful and more worth the price. The private onsen inside the tiny Japanese garden is beautiful. The location is very quiet, near the river and less 5 minutes by walk from the station and konbini. Everything you need is provided inside the house, so you don’t have to worry about

IrisRating, 5 stars1 week ago
This cozy home is just 2 mins walking from the historic resort Toji Temple and 8 mins walking to Toji station which is convenient to everywhere we want to visit. This entire home is very quiet and charming. It’s a typical Japanese style decor inside and has everything we need . I’ll strongly recommend here to everyone who wants to explore Kyoto.

I used it as a family trip for four people. The building feels old, but the inside is surprisingly clean, and we had an extraordinary experience without any stress. The explanations for check-in, etc. were easy to understand, and the replies were quick, so I always felt safe. It was so nice that I'd love to stay again if I get the chance.

Hoshiya/2min to Arashiyama, Togetsu Bridge/

PaulRating, 5 stars4 days ago
We had a lovely stay at Tanimachikun’s place in Arashiyama! Not only is the location wonderful, but the house itself was beautifully arranged and very comfortable. Even better, Tanimachikun’s staff was extremely gracious and kind. They allowed us to store our luggage before the scheduled check-in time, and they even managed to send an item that we left behind on to our next stop. Overall, it was a wonderful visit to Arashiyama. Thank you, Tanimachikun!

Private Villa with Open-Air Bath Kyoto

JonRating, 5 stars1 week ago
I stayed at Hanare's place with my two daughters (ages 18,19) and it worked out great for our trip to Kyoto. The place is really well done and has a great feel to it. My daughters really appreciated that they each got their own bed and that the AC worked very well. There is AC downstairs and in the bedrooms but the entrance and the upstairs hallway do not have AC. It wasn't a big deal but the hallway could get pretty warm. The only bathroom is on the first floor and the bedrooms are on the second floor. My only warning is the staircase, I would say it's more of a ladder. We were fine with it but it was definitely interesting getting the luggage upstairs. If someone in your group has difficulty getting around it might not be the best place. We used several of Hanare's recommendations and they were great. It's right by the main cobblestone street that leads up to the Kiyomizu-dera. We really enjoyed our stay and liked that it had a very clean modern yet traditional Japanese style.

#9_12 Special Sweet FamilyHome coconotoⅡ spacious

KristenRating, 5 stars1 week ago
Lovely to stay in a neighbourhood rather than a hotel this time. The property was well equipped and had great air conditioning, water pressure and kitchen. Super great location for getting to the station (with a direct train to Nara), and we walked to the baseball dome too. We stayed as three friends and I think this place would be better suited to a family as the bedrooms were connected and the toilet downstairs.

ToluRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
Lin’s place was well situated, close to many restaurants and walkable to many areas of interests. Very short walk to two train lines at Shin-Okubo and Okubo. Many grocery stores and restaurants nearby. We really enjoyed the space and very nice for a family of 4. The area is very safe and we stayed out till late multiple times without any concern. The apartment is on three floors with no elevators for those that may have some challenges with climbing. Can’t recommend enough.

Certified Kyomachiya [Himoewya] Entire house for rent. Walking distance to Kiyomizu Temple, Chishakuin, Yasaka Shrine, Sanjusangendo, National Museum of Kyoto

JoyceRating, 5 stars4 days ago
Great experience, this time I brought my parents to Kyoto, and we spent a very happy three nights in this homestay! Because I can communicate with the Host in Chinese, it is more convenient, and the Host is very attentive in preparing for check-in, turning on the air conditioning in advance, lighting incense, preparing iced drinks, and there are beautiful flowers, it feels very cozy when checking in💕 In addition, the rooms and beds are clean and comfortable, and the kitchen and toilets are very clean and convenient.Buy wagyu beef and rice in the supermarket, and you can enjoy a meal at home, which is more delicious than eating out ~ Also, the bathtub and hot water are great, not inferior to the hotel, the water is super hot!Toiletries and hair dryers are all very good to use, and it is very healing to take a hot shower every day after returning home! Geographically, although the location of the B&B is a small road, it is very close to Kiyomizu Temple and Nijo Castle. We left early at 6:30 and can walk to Kiyomizu Temple in more than ten minutes, avoiding the crowds!

【Open sale】Kyomachiya guest house Cho an-Kujo

CaseyRating, 5 stars1 week ago
If you’re asking yourself whether or not it’s worth it to book here— the answer is an absolute YES. It is truly one of the most beautiful homes we’ve ever stayed in. The outdoor tub is heavenly and was the best way to beat the summer heat during our stay. The beds are so comfortable, the house was the cleanest Airbnb I’ve ever seen (and I’ve been lucky enough to stay in many excellent ones!), and the location is prime for anything you might want to get up to. We couldn’t be more grateful to have experienced Kyoto for the first time here! Truly the most peaceful place to stay in the most peaceful city. Also, the AC is the crispest I’ve ever been in, which was a must. Great all around!

Kyotofish·Shirakawa*Gion Area Riverview Machiya

JoseRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
The location on the Shirakawa is the main selling feature on this. Peaceful and nice to come home to. We sat there many nights on a floor seat near the window watching the canal. They can set up a futon for a third guest in this area, but be warned they have the best view!! :) There are fireflies at night on the canal. There is some car and pedestrian traffic on the opposite side of the canal and people do look in. The unit was clean and there's not a lot of stuff to clutter the space, which is nice. Furnishings are good quality and in good shape. There's a full steam bath on the first floor and a half bath on the second floor where the bed is. There's a full kitchen downstairs and a combo washer/dryer (takes about 4 hours for full cycle) on 1st floor. The unit could use more places to sit and a smaller dining table, but they're minor inconveniences. The location is great and very walkable to the entire historic area. We spotted 16 geishas in our 5 nights in Kyoto!
