Chris went out of his way to make me feel welcome. If you are an English speaker, it may be that he can answer cultural and other questions about Japan. Chris was kind enough to drop me off at a swordsmith’s workshop nearby where I spent the day.

Great location and in walking distance to Happo village. Shuttle bus to nearby slopes and staff very friendly and helpful.

Chieri en haar moeder en hun schattige hond zijn hele lieve hosts die er alles aan doen om je verblijf een echte authentieke Japanse ervaring te laten zijn. Hun huis is prachtig ingericht, ruim en voelt heel fijn en gastvrij. Het café en de biertuin van Chieri zijn ook zeker de moeite waard om te bezoeken. Het eten en drinken en het gratis Japanse ontbijt waren heerlijk. En als je nog authentieke Japanse souvenirs zoekt zijn die hier ook te vinden. Al met al een perfecte plek om even tot rust te komen na het bezoeken van de drukke steden als Kyoto en Osaka.

I had an amazing stay. The host truly cares about making your stay as good as possible. I cannot recommend highly enough. The surrounding area makes for some great exploration and hiking, which id always finish off by relaxing at the onsen (there were both indoor and outdoor). I hope to be back one day!

Great place and one of the friendliest host in Japan, would definitely visit again during Fall as the foliage would be breath taking. Be aware that if you don't have a car the closest grocery place is a convenient store and not a supermarket in case you want to make use of the kitchen.

John is one of the best host I’ve ever met at Airbnb. He is very friendly, outgoing and enthusiastic. He and his wife are very nice. I also love his dogs. They are very cute.

Ce Airbnb est une vraie perle rare. Perdu dans la montagne et très paisible hors saison. Justin, Erica et les employés sont très réactifs et super gentils ! Ils proposent des navettes gratuitement pour aller en ville, au supermarché, au Hot Spring... Ils mettent également des vélos à disposition. Etant donné que le chalet est isolé dans la station, ils ont tout mis en place pour que les activités autour soient accessibles pour les voyageurs. Ils nous ont recommandé de nombreuses randonnées et des lieux à visiter absolument. Les espaces communs permettent de rencontrer du monde et de discuter. Merci pour tout !

Yuu-san welcomed me for the New Years holidays even though I made a reservation in the last moment. He and his family are very kind and welcoming. I enjoyed exploring the traditional New Year's meals and the musical selection every morning :) This artistic home is in a peaceful countryside area and great if you need to disconnect and find your creativity. We had a wonderful and relaxing stay at the unit, which was perfect for our family. The place was clean, safe, and well-equipped, with a fantastic washer/dryer and a delightful daily breakfast as a bonus. Its proximity to train stations made it incredibly convenient, and the address was easy for Uber and shuttle drivers to locate. We’d love to stay again on our next trip to Tokyo. My wife and I stayed at Bears lodge for our ski trip to Hakuba and had a really great experience. Everyone was incredibly friendly and happy to help with anything we needed. They went above and beyond picking us up and dropping us off at the bus terminal on arrival and departure. I would describe this home as a bed and breakfast style stay. You will be around others in closer proximity than you would a hotel but everyone is separated for their privacy with lockable rooms and plenty of space (considering you’re in Japan). We also used the TA-Q-BIN delivery service to send our skis which they graciously accepted before our arrival and had them waiting for us in our room. The lodge is also very conveniently located in the center of echoland with plenty of walkable restaurants and bars around as well as in very close proximity to the bus stops that pick you up and drop you off right at the base of whichever mountain you are looking to ski that day. There’s also a secure dry room for skis.

Tommy’s Doraemon-style Guest House 🏠✨🍳 This was my very first time staying in a guest house in Japan—and I couldn’t have asked for a better start. Tommy’s home in Kyoto felt like stepping into Doraemon’s world: warm, nostalgic, and full of Japanese charm. The tatami floors, sliding doors, and cozy corners made me feel like I was part of an old-school anime. But what really made this stay unforgettable was Tommy himself. Every morning, he would prepare breakfast for us—homemade, delicious, and filled with love. Honestly, it was one of the best meals I had in Japan, not because it was fancy, but because it was made with such genuine care. There’s something deeply touching about this place. It wasn’t just a place to sleep; it was where my journey in Japan began. And because of that, it holds a very special place in my heart. Thank you, Tommy, for creating such a heartfelt and beautiful experience.

Had a wonderful stay in this traditional Japanese room. The host was very friendly and accomodating. He provided us delicious breakfast every morning and gave us good tour spot recommendations. We felt comfortable and welcomed here. Would definitely come again on our next Kyoto trip.

늦은시간까지 데리러 와주시고 웰컴티, 아침, 그리고 비행기에서 먹을 수 있는 오니기리, 정말 감사했습니다. 너무 맛있었어요. 일본에서 가정적인 에어비앤비를 경험할거라 생각 못했는데 정말 따뜻함을 여행에서 가지고 온 거 같아요. 후기 바로 남겼어야했는데, 그러지 못해서 죄송하고 강아지와 함께 행복하셨으면 좋겠습니다. 오사카 갈 일 있으면 또 방문할게요 :)

Great value and location, can’t beat it.

We had an amazing experience at Chiyako-san's home. The traditional Japanese-style room was spacious for the two of us, and she ensured that we were comfortable and warm despite the drizzling rain outside. We explored the area and enjoyed the onsen nearby. We loved the meals we had here! For dinner (which we opted in for at an extra charge), Chiyako-san prepared a spread of fresh vegetables and meat for shabu-shabu, which was delicious. The complimentary breakfast was really appetising as well! Chiyako-san and her family are really friendly and we had a lovely time chatting with them after breakfast. Suitable for anyone looking for a short respite in the countryside of Japan!

Staying at Aibiya was by far the best part of our month long trip to Japan. Yoshi and Seongmi are truly exceptional people, their hotel is wonderful and they made our trip memorable. We are fortunate we got to stay here and will definitely return!

Words cannot express how magical this place is. Chiyako is the kindest and most caring host. The food is outstanding and the whole experience was so much more than we dreamed about. Could not recommend more highly x
