Places to stay in Gila
Stay in a pet friendly, straw bale house less than a mile from the Gila National Forest. Come and go through your private entrance, which you can drive right up to for easy loading and unloading. Soak in the large clawfoot tub in the attached bathroom. Grill supper over a mesquite fire or experiment cooking with a sun oven. Practice yoga or meditate in a very quiet, light filled space with lofty ceilings. Enjoy lovely views of the Mogollon Mountains as you relax on the back porch.
You will stay in a spacious bedroom with attached private bathroom and a brand new queen sized bed. The home is on six quiet acres less than a mile from the entrance into the Gila National Forest. It’s not a big house, but lofty ceilings, pure white walls and lots of windows make it airy and spacious. It’s very quiet and peaceful here; you’ll be far from the noise and tumult of the city. From the home you can enjoy both the sunrise and sunset as well as beautiful views of mountains all around. Come and go through your private entrance, which you can drive right up to for easy loading and unloading. Room includes access to the well stocked kitchen. Basics such as coffee, tea, oil, and spices provided free of charge. Walk out your private door and down to the Gila River. Or drive up the road to near by hot springs. As you sip coffee or lemonade on the back porch you may see Gambel’s quail or cotton tail rabbits. Perhaps hear coyotes yipping to one another at dawn. You’re welcome to light a fire in the cool of the evening, even grill your supper, in the fire pit out back (grill and mesquite wood provided free of charge). This space will appeal to people of diverse interests. It’s the perfect place to enjoy as a basecamp, before and after your adventure in the nearby Gila Wilderness, the first designated wilderness area in the world. You can cook meals in the kitchen, access the internet and wash your clothes, hanging them to dry in the bright New Mexican sun. Buckets and garden hoses are available and there’s plenty of space to spread your things out if you wish to clean and repack. Or perhaps you want to enjoy a very quiet, light filled, spacious space far from the noise and pollution of the city. White stucco walls, lofty ceilings, lots of windows create a light filled airy space perfect for yoga and meditation (yoga mats available free of charge and private yoga classes may be available upon request). There’s a desk for you to use inside, or you could set up a little office for yourself outside, in the protected shade of the back porch. I find that the peace and the lovely views of Mogollon mountains nearby spur creativity. Or maybe you’d like to experience what it’s like to live in a unique frontier community, where people have opted out of mainstream America to fashion a unique life for themselves? Cook in a solar oven? Depending on season and availability you may be able to purchase organic vegetables, organic eggs from free range chickens, and pasture raised beef and lamb, all raised locally in nearby farms.
  • Kate's place is a real gem! The room is lovely -- actually, her entire home is quite special. It's secluded and quiet in the morning, but silver city is close enough. Kate was incredibly welcoming. 10/10 would recommend.

  • Sweet, cozy, quiet, roomy space with artistic details. Amazing 360 sunsets! Was super relaxed and comfortable here. Kate is very kind and considerate. She even included me in a local potluck gathering of alot of really friendly folks and took me on a mule trek to a great wilderness hot spring. Her road is a gateway to the Gila Wilderness and she and her partner are wonderful guides. Would highly recommend!

  • Thoughtfully designed straw bale house. Great energy in the space and surrounding area. Very quite, great views for sunset or morning coffee. Great value, would definitely stay again.

  • Kate is a warm and welcoming host who is generous with her space and her things. Kate trusted us - encouraged us - to cook in her own kitchen, while she was out, and to use whatever we needed from her store cupboards. She gave us useful local information and took us to see a local site of historical interest. Her lovely quirky straw bale house, with a big open plan multi-use room, was quickly warmed up in the December cold by her wood burning stove and was a cosy place to eat and play cards. We loved our stay with Kate.

  • Nice place to stay, private room with bathroom with own entrance, but can go by a interior door to use the kitchen. Bed very confortable, nice host.

    Chantal2019-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • The location is a really special place...there is a sense of deep privacy and peace that can be rare to find. Kate’s strawbale home was beautiful and really comfortable, we would have loved to stay a lot longer. It’s 40 minutes from silver city so is definitely worth bringing groceries...Kate has a kitchen with everything you need, and is a really wonderful host.

  • Kate was a kind and generous host. I couldn't have asked for a better experience and will be returning in the future.

We are a half mile from State Rt. 15 on 29 secluded acres near the Gila National Forest. The setting is quite pretty and we have lots of wildlife on the property. The open area has a full size bed and a sleeper sofa, a small table with chairs, microwave, coffee pot, and small refrigerator. The back of the bunkhouse has a walk in shower, sink and toilet. It does not have a kitchen. We do not allow smoking inside. We don't allow children or pets as the Bunkhouse is not a good fit for them.
Your host would love to show you the hiking trails on the property or entertain you around the campfire next to the bunkhouse. The trails are not long and have great views. There is a fire pit just below the bunkhouse.
Silver City is ten miles away; Pinos Altos is two miles north of us. Attractions include the Blues Festival, the Tour of the Gila, The Catwalk, City of Rocks State Park and the Gila Cliff Dwellings.
  • Mike is a wonderful host and the bunkhouse far exceeded my expectations. The bunkhouse is located close to the Gila National Forest and also close to restaurants/stores in Silver City. I would recommend anyone interested in visiting Silver City to consider Mike's bunkhouse.

    Sergio2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • The host really rolls out the red carpet- for us it was a coffee cake freshly baked. If youve ever wanted to get close to deer and other animals, this is a great place.

    David2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Mike is a wonderful host and a cowboy with a heart of gold. The Bunkhouse exceeded our expectations and we can’t wait to visit it again and see all our buddies from nature that visit Mike’s property!

    Stacey2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • If you have found the Bunkhouse at Rockhaven in your search for a fun stay in Silver City, you’re in for a real treat! Mike is the perfect host! He brought us blueberry bread and fresh ground coffee when we arrived. He showed us a couple of hikes and we immediately took the McMillian campground hike to see the hoodoo’s. Well, we didn’t get to see them because we didn’t go far enough. It was also dusk and didn’t want to encounter a bear or mountain lion. The next morning was the highlight for me! There were several deer in the yard and Romeo warmed right up to us, getting fed from our hand. Please consider this beautiful place to stay!

    Cari2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Mike was the most thoughtful host, and very knowledgeable about the surrounding area. He's manicured little trails in the back of the cabin for people to enjoy the scenery and the nature. Coffee , blueberry bread and other amenities are all provided at the beginning of your stay. This place is a MUST if you're planning on stopping by the Silver City/Pinos Altos area.

    Kameron2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Peaceful with beautiful views. You won’t want to leave this peaceful hide-a-way.

    C2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Mike's place isn't in the heart of town, but less than 20 min outside it, down a rather long, rather bumpy, gravel road. The room itself, set apart from the main house, is very cozy and clean, with a perfect sized porch that lights up at night, and its own bathroom. The fireplace adds to the peaceful feeling you get being surrounded by nature. There are hiking trails throughout the property, which Mike is happy to point out (and has a map of), and a book of beautiful photos for inspiration for nearby attractions. In the morning, a bunch of wild deer and javelina come to eat, the deer being so used to humans that they may even eat out of your hand! It was quite a wonderful and unique experience staying at Rockhaven. Thank you, Mike!

    Rhianna2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Mike's bunkhouse was a wonderful way to spend a couple days! Mike provided outstanding hospitality and communication and the bunkhouse experience was clearly thoughtfully planned and executed. We enjoyed a camp fire and the trails Mike built on his property and had a great time.

Surrounded by the Mogollon Mountains, this glamping casita provides privacy and modern amenities: queen bed, stove top, mini fridge, crock pot, dresser, wardrobe, a table and four chairs. Outside, you will smell Pinon Pine and be a walk away from Sapillo Creek, a short drive (4 min) to Lake Roberts, and the Gila Wilderness. There is potable water from our well right outside and two privacy tents one with a camping toilet and biodegradable biowaste bags & the other with a solar-powered shower.
The Casita @ Sapillo Creek Escape is an adobe cabin styled as a studio guesthouse with a queen bed, and privacy. It sits adjacent to the home and is within 100 feet away from the front door of Sapillo Creek Escape. There is a camping toilet and a solar-powered, portable shower and two privacy tents in the back of the casita for the guests to use for privacy when showering or using the camping toilet. There is also potable well water that pumps right into the front of the casita that can be used as well. The entire house was built by hand and it took nearly 7 years to complete. Everything is custom and I can promise you that you will never stay in a place like this! The bed sleeps two comfortably. If you bring cots, you can host two more people or kids at the casita. It will be tight but it can work! Some of the mesas of the Mogollon Mountains still boast pottery and artifacts that date back to the Mogollon Indian civilizations hundreds of years ago. This is a leave no trace casita, so please take out all of the trash that you make on the property, including your bio-waste or you can bury it at least 75 feet away from the casita and other buildings on the property at the end of your stay. Pets are welcome - 1 or 2 dogs, vaccinated and socialized. No smoking. Please bring your own toilet paper.
  • Great place to escape and enjoy a weekend away to escape the city life

    Samuel2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • The casita is a totally charming, cozy, rustic experience. We wish we had stayed longer! Nice to unplug for a couple days and see the beautiful Gila wilderness. We would happily return!

    Riga2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Great hospitality and wonderful location right in the middle of the Gila.

    Marcy2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • Booked at the last minute and had a great time! Got down to mid 20s at night, but the space heater did wonders! I would definitely stay again!

    Taylor2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • This is the perfect place for a quiet retreat in the Gila Wilderness! Only 5 min from lake Roberts, 30 min from hot springs and 40 min from the Gila Cliff Dwellings, it's the perfect home base for your Gila Mountain adventure. Jennifer's sister-in-law greeted me warmly when I arrived and was available if I needed anything. The bed was unexpectedly luxurious, warm and cozy. It was a little challenging not having indoor plumbing in the winter but if you're used to roughing it (I definitely am) it's a huge step up from camping!

    Mandy2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • The cutest little place to stay! We stayed here right before going to the Gila Cliff Dwellings, so the location was perfect and it was very scenic.

    Lilly2020-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • Charming place out in the wilderness of the Gila. The location made it easy to get to the cave dwellings the next morning. Great directions on how to find the house, too. Jennifer is a super host.

    Melissa2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • It’s just what it claims to be. Essentially camping, but in a comfortable and homey space with an authentic, rustic feel. A cool little one room cabin from which to launch an adventure into the gila wilderness. The location couldn’t be more perfect. The property literally abuts national forest land and it is minutes from a lake, a short drive to hot springs and other opportunities abound not far from the property.

New BIG DISCOUNTS FOR LONGER STAYS!! "Inn at the LC" Stay at the Historic Lyons & Campbell Ranch Headquarters in our premiere accommodation, the well appointed "Gate House", in secluded Gila, NM. Enjoy the fully renovated Gatehouse with marble bathroom and Jacuzzi, King size four poster bed, and two flat screen satellite TVs. Life in the country, shop in nearby Silver City for groceries, full kitchen, nothing nearby, only a gas station with very basic necessities.
The Corona Virus is a huge concern for us. The health of our guests and ourselves is at risk. We have suspended tours of the ranch and the instant booking feature on Airbnb. We will not accept bookings from people coming from areas with large CV-19 hot spots. We also allow a minimum of 4 days vacancy between guests. As we are social distancing, we will have little to no contact with guests. If you want to escape the big city, hide out and relax in secluded rural New Mexico, the L.C. Ranch is here for you. The "Gate House" is a newly renovated, well appointed accommodation perfect for a couple, or couple "plus one", with King Size four-post bed, Air conditioned, full kitchen, Satellite TV, private marble bathroom with Jacuzzi. (The "Bunkhouse" is a larger, only partially renovated and more rustic accommodation for up to seven people). Once you're settled in, time to check out the Ranch. A New Mexico Historic Site, and on the National Registry of Historic Places, The National Park Service, in their publication "The Cattleman's Empire" described the million acre L & C as "Overshadowing all other ranching operations in the Southwest", and “The L.C. remains as one of the last surviving Great Ranch Houses of the Old West”. The Lyons and Campbell Ranch Headquarters is a 60 room, 8 acre, Adobe compound that today includes a 27 room adobe Mansion, Saloon, Jail, Wedding Chapel, Theatre, Gallery, Bunkhouse, Bath house with large wood-fired communal Hot Tub, Swimming Pool and Lanai with wood burning brick pizza oven and BBQ. (Bath house, Hot Tub, Swimming Pool and pizza oven are seasonal, and not available in the winter months.) The cattle, cowboys and million acres are long gone. Cattle Baron Tom Lyons' 27 room adobe mansion, lavishly refurnished, remains along with all the outbuildings of the L C Ranch Headquarters. A 501(c)3, your stay will help fund ongoing restoration projects. Donations are tax-deductible.
Although the LC is a destination in itself, the surrounding area has lots to offer from hiking and bird watching to off-road adventures in the nearby Burro mountains and scenic on-road driving adventures, with very little traffic, suitable for family outings or spirited forays through picturesque landscapes in your sports car or motorcycle. The GILA is a beautiful river valley at the base of the Mogollon Mountains and the Gila Wilderness. A true Oasis in the desert Southwest. It is remote and secluded, with 5 seasons, including the delightful late summer monsoons. There is a post office, public library, medical clinic and 3 churches. And 3 miles away in the nearby village of CLIFF there is a gas station with a few very basic groceries. There is one new restaurant, but no grocery, or Liquor stores here! You will need to do your shopping in Silver City, 30 miles before you get here. Wal-Mart and Albertson's, right on U.S. 180 in Silver City, are your best bets. With advance notice, and a fee, Weekend guests can request a BBQ ($100), or Wood Fired Pizza party by the pool, $50 for up to 4 persons. Or do your own BBQ n/c. Your apartment has its own BBQ, or you can use the one at the pool. Your cell phone probably won't work either. If you have Verizon, and stand down by the jail, on one foot, and jump up and down, wave your arm, you might get a signal.....I am not joking, well, maybe a little...
  • This is a really unique place for someone that wants some peace and quiet and wants away from the complications of a high tech world. I would recommend it for any type of spiritual retreat as it offers a beautiful countryside, some isolation, some history, nice lodging, plus great hosts. I used it to get away from the craziness of my life, for regeneration, prayer and quietness (except for my Christmas music). Alex was an awesome host and I loved his great Newfoundland pups!

    Russ2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • The LC Ranch is an amazing place to stay. Great place to base your exploration of the western parts off the Gila Wilderness from.

    Bill2019-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • Super cool location with lots of really interesting history. The apartment is super comfortable and well stocked, a great couples getaway.

    Anita2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • This is really an amazing historical landmark- ask for the guided tour to get some priceless info about the history of the ranch and it’s hacienda roots. The drive out to Gila is spectacular. A very interesting place to stay for those looking for something a little different!

    Beth2019-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • We visited the LC Ranch over the Memorial Day weekend with another family. From our initial welcome to our final goodbye, Alex, the owner of the ranch, was welcoming and accommodative. The living space was large and comfortable with plenty of room for the kids and adults. We enjoyed singing karaoke in the Saloon, sitting by the pool, walking the ground and learning the history of the ranch from Alex and even enjoyed a special wood fire pizza night. We would recommend this location to any family or group looking to unwind and explore a different part of New Mexico

    Jasmeet2019-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our tour of the original buildings of The Lyons Campbell Ranch. I would volunteer to help Alex with his restoration projects if I lived nearby. I would love to come back in spring or summer and hangout by the pool.

    Patricia2019-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • A hidden treasure! The room (really a small apartment) is comfortable and well-decorated with everything you could need. Truly in the middle of nowhere, if you ever find yourself anywhere near Silver City, NM you need to check this place out. With a fascinating, somewhat mysterious, history the ranch buildings (hacienda, saloon, theater, chapel and more) and the collections they contain are like a secret museum. A little bit dusty, a little bit work-in-progress, once you take the tour (you MUST take the tour) you'll be amazed by what you've stumbled into. The dogs are pretty great too.

    Susan2018-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • A rare and unexpected jewel of a place that literally defies description. Pastoral beauty...check. Peace and quiet...check. Comfortable, well appointed accommodations...check. Friendly gigantic dogs...check. Take the tour!! John Wayne meets Gertrude Stein. You'll see.

This is a 1960s bungalow located across from the Boston Hill Trail System. Near to WNMU and historic downtown Silver City. Close to the Tranquil Buzz Coffe House and downtown restaurants and galleries. Makes an ideal space for traveling professionals, weekend travelers or those doing thru- hiking or segments of the Continental Divide! This home is a great space in a to explore a gateway community and into the Gila!
Magnificent view of Boston Hill mines that made Silver City and great trail access near my home.
  • Awesome spot for a weary backpacker to reset before doing more hiking in the Gila! I did some laundry, cooking, and got local tips from Julie who knows the great outdoors in & around Silver City. I made some new friends!

  • Great value and location right in town, convenient to everything. Beautiful, well stocked kitchen and cozy sheets and blanket. Julie is a wonderful host and generous with giving assistance and local tips. Felt very comfortable there and enjoyed my stay.

  • Julie’s place was so quaint and quiet, I booked it a second time!

  • Julie was sweet, friendly, and accommodating. She was very flexible with me when I arrived late and left late because my phone failed to switch time zones. Her space was quaint, unique, and very homey. Felt like staying in a cabin owned by an architect lol. 10/10 highly recommend Julie and her home.

Canta a mi Alma (Sings to my Soul) is a civilized off-grid rental apartment within the Gila National Forest, 30 minutes from downtown Silver City, NM. The apartment is about 528 sq ft and has a private entrance. There is a kitchen/living area, 2 bedrooms and a full bath. The views from the property are amazing; a photographer's and artist's delight. The Continental Divide Trail is 1.5 miles from the apartment. There are many trails to explore in the Gila National Forest.
CANTA A MI ALMA (Sings to my Soul) is a civilized off-grid retreat within the Gila National Forest. Recharge yourself with amazing views of the Gila Wilderness. Listen to the wind in the pinon and junipers and look out to Mogollon Baldy, the highest peak in the Gilas at 11,000 feet above sea level. Surrounding mountains are the Mogollon Range, the Pinos Altos Range, Bear Mountain and Tadpole Ridge. Become one with nature by COMFORTABLY living off grid for your stay. The 50 acre property is bordered on two sides by the 3.2 million acres of the Gila National Forest. The nearest neighbor is a mile away. Help yourself to fresh herbs for cooking that are just outside your door. Sit and watch hummingbird wars from the portico. Have you ever been curious about what it would be like to live totally off-grid yet comfortably? Your electricity is powered by solar. You will not find energy hogs like a microwave or a toaster in the apartment, but you will have a range with an oven that works just as well. Since this property is totally off-grid you will not have a Keurig to make coffee but will make better coffee with a French press (directions will be provided). There is no dishwasher, and I ask that you wash your dishes. For those that can’t leave behind electronic devices there is a TV with a DVD player, internet (though slow) and sometimes even cell phone service (there are no land lines). The water is from a well on the property, and the shower head is complete with a water saving setting if you choose. Please note: There is sometimes a price to pay Mother Nature. During monsoons and snows a 4x4 vehicle with clearance will be needed to navigate the mud. It is 9 miles of dirt forest roads to get here. If there haven't been rains/snow, a car can get here as long as it isn't too low to the ground. For example, my normal vehicle is a Subaru Forester but If there is mud I use my 4x4 Ford truck.

  • What a wonderful Airbnb stay! Lori is a great host who is happy to tell you about cool places to visit or to leave you alone to do your own thing. The space is lovely with lots of homey touches like GOOD coffee, fresh eggs, a couple of delicious tomatoes from the garden and some fresh oregano. (Yes, we made yummy omelettes!) Place was immaculately clean. There are places to sit outside with the most amazing views of the Gila National Forest. The dirt road in might not be for everyone, but it isn’t bad at all. For those so inclined, internet was plenty quick and there seemed to be an abundance of satellite tv channels, which we didn’t watch, but really enjoyed a DVD on Icelandic Horses that Lori lent us. Her horses are a bonus, as they love to be scratched and petted, even if they aren’t available for riding. We came back rested, relaxed and renewed. We had planned to drive around or go into town (which is pretty close) but felt so at peace we never left, perfectly content to sit in the gazebo with million dollar views and watch the world go by. We wanna go back!

  • Great place!

    Sandra2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Exceeded our expectations in all areas. By far the most tranquil, relaxing vacation we’ve ever had. The accommodations were excellent and the views were spectacular. We chose to stay on the property our entire stay and didn’t regret our decision. Lori is an outstanding hostess. We highly recommend staying here. We will be returning!

    Davida2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • This is not your run-of-the-mill airbnb. For one thing it's seemingly in the middle of nowhere (actually the closest neighbor is a mere mile away - as the crow flies). For another thing you'll be welcomed not only by a friendly and helpful hostess (Lori) but also by three gentle and curious horses, two very fun dogs and a couple of cats. And for another thing, Lori's place is off-the-grid: no city sewer, water or electricity. You can sit in the ramada/gazebo and look out on the Gila National Forest and not see any sign of humankind. Pretty cool! The road in was rough in spots but easily doable with my high clearance vehicle. I wouldn't attempt it after a heavy rain however. I hiked the scenic Continental Divide Trail (about two miles from the house) and had it to myself. I found that Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument made a nice day trip. Lots of other stuff to do and see in Silver City and the surrounding area. A unique airbnb. Give it a try if you're adventurous, or just want to un-plug for a while.

    Steve2019-06-06T00:00:00Z
  • Lori's place was very cozy. Definitely off the beaten path but well worth the drive!

    Lora2019-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • Lori’s magical world is an oasis in the sky, filled with vistas in every direction, mesas and mountains, horses and birds, air like silver, perfect hikes and horned larks, hummingbirds outside our window, calm— all off the grid. A place for R and R. We hated to leave. Be ready for a surprise!

    Mark2019-05-13T00:00:00Z

From your tin-roof covered deck, you can enjoy views looking toward Bear Creek and its giant cottonwood and sycamore trees. Roadrunners, jackrabbits, hawks, deer, wild turkey or possibly javelinas all call this canyon their home. Take in some of the most stunning star-filled night skies ever imagined. If you sleep better without the glow of city lights and prefer the night sounds of nature to the hum of humanity, then you are going to love the Pinon Log Cabin. As with the other New Mexico Cabin Rentals properties, the Pinon Log Cabin provides you the opportunity to experience a tiny taste of life on a southwestern New Mexico ranch, explore a diverse ecological region, and encounter the recent and ancient past up close. Enjoy the easy pace of a hot summer day on the ranch as you wander the compound and acquaint yourself with the horses. Look for any one of the hundreds of breeds of birds who call the Gila High Desert home as you challenge the summit of Turtle Rock or explore the canyons of the Double E Ranch. Trace the path of the Mimbres Indians who lived along Bear Creek and the Gila River 1300 years ago. Uncover their history through pottery pieces, ancient tools, pictographs and remnants of stone dwellings which can still be readily found along Bear Creek. Introduce yourself to the more recent legendary characters who roamed the hills, mountains and towns in this area, including Billy the Kid, Geronimo, and Ben Lily. Fill your days and evenings with whatever pleases you because out here, that’s just about the only person you’ll have to answer to. We're proud to be an Airbnb Super Host!
The Pinon log vacation cabin is our version of a Southwestern studio-style log cabin. At 450 square feet, this little cabin is big on comfort with everything you need to feel right at home. Perhaps our personal favorite, the full kitchen features custom-designed Italian stone counter tops, a 4-burner stove top, microwave, (2) apartment-sized refrigerators, coffee maker, toaster, microwave, toaster oven, crock pot/slow cooker, blender, toaster, dishes, flatware, cooking pots, utensils and a dinning bar with stools where you can enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner. The hotel quality queen bed beckons you to sleep in just a little longer than usual, all snuggled-up in the luxurious cotton linens. Enjoy morning coffee or an evening beverage in one of the rocking chairs on your covered deck! We also provide you with bbq grill, charcoal, lighter fluid, spices, condiments, foil, pantry items such as rice, pasta, canned meat, sugar. The trash bin is located behind your cabin. We check it daily.
This part of Southwestern New Mexico encompasses some of the most remote, and pristine land in the U.S. The terrain ranges from rugged mountains and deep canyons to mesas and semi-desert. Our private 360 acres include over 2 miles of Bear Creek, which feeds into the Gila River. Here, you'll find an extraordinary, privately protected riparian sanctuary, home to black hawks, falcons, hundreds of migratory and indigenous birds as well as spectacular views. Hikers will marvel at the climb to the top of "Turtle Rock" aka Apache Corral, from where you can see all the way to the Arizona border! We adjoin 6500 acres of New Mexico State land, which flows directly into the 3 million acre Gila National Forest and Gila Wilderness area. Our vacation home rentals are affordable and all conveniently located 3 miles east of the quaint Village of Gila and a short 7-mile drive across the Gila River to the town of Cliff. We are 30 miles northwest of historic Silver City, once a booming mining town, and now a vibrant community promoting the arts, business, commerce, and tourism.
  • This is the perfect place to escape a hectic life! We stayed for 3 nights but could easily have stayed another 2. We had a vehicle that was 2-wheel drive and despite some interesting weather closer to Silver City (snow and flooding), the highway to Gila and the dirt road was no problem and it was great to be off the beaten path. Thoroughly enjoyed seeing the horses, deer, various birds, dog and cat! Also liked being able to walk the grounds and enjoy simple things like relaxing on the porch with a coffee/beer. We are always connected and although the WiFi worked perfectly, we made sure to switch off for a few days and really enjoy this little part of NM. We did a day trip to Gila Cliff Dwellings and can also recommend the fantastic scenic drive. Highly recommend if you are looking for a relaxing break or a quiet place to stay on your travels. Thanks to Chris, Deborah and Alan for providing this great escape.

  • Small studio, but very comfortable. The radiant floor heat kept the space very comfortable without noise or forced hot air. The ranch was beautiful. Bring your own food as shopping is not nearby, but there were plenty of condiments and seasonings provided. It was a relaxing getaway out of the city.

    Brad2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful cabin!! Access to Gila NF is super easy but also has a stream and hiking trails right out your front door!

    Marc2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Our cabin was perfectly clean and a delightful experience! It is quiet and remote...just the way we like it!

    Ann2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place to stay to get away from our busy everyday lives!

    Jacqueline2019-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and i spent 2 nights in Pinon Cabin with our dog. The ranch atmosphere was unique and the trails available for hiking were wonderful. The cabin itself was very well stocked and sparkling clean.

    Caroline2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great place to stay for a weekend getaway. Its in a very remote location which made it perfect to see the stars at night. The place was very clean inside and out. Once we figured out how the heater worked the cabin was very toasty. Chris was very helpful and courteous. Hiking trails were very pretty with fall colors and we were able to see deer. If you like the outdoors it is a great place to stay.

    Lorena2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • If you’re looking for a quiet, cozy, weekend get away I highly recommend this place! Definitely try to get there in daylight if you can - the address is spot on using apple maps, however you won’t have service at the bottom of the hill and it’s pitch black out there at night so it’ll help to be able to see which cabin you came for! We took the dogs for a hike straight out the door (got engaged at the top of the mountain!), bbq’d while hangin out on the front porch rockers, and split a few bottles of wine enjoying the Wild West DVD collection. Only bummer was the creek was dried up/underground this time, but we will definitely be back this winter to play in the snow :)

Very near the Gila Wilderness and river, Bearpaw Ranch is perfectly situated to enjoy all that the area has to offer. 35 m from Silver City NM. Very private and serene. Just a short walk to the Gila River and our 4 ponds. Perfectly dark night skies for star-gazing.
This cabin is on 140 acres just north of the little town of Gila. There are 4 small ponds on the property and it's an easy walk from the cabin. The Gila River flows through the middle of the ranch and is a bird watchers delight! Horses are welcome and I have pasture and stable rates. The Gila Wilderness is easily accessible and the ranch is near the end of the paved road at the Turkey Creek entrance of the wilderness Area attractions include the Wild West Rodeo, the Memorial Day Jazz Festival, and the world renown Tour of the Gila bike races in April. This cabin sits alone about 150 yards from the main house. The delightful thing about being at Bearpaw Ranch is the solitude and serenity. You could literally go days without having to interact with people or you could meet local people by visiting area businesses. I live on the property and go about my business with no expectation of any interaction with my guests. I'm friendly, but not nosy! You can easily recharge here!
Gila is half of a two town "valley" community. Cliff is the town on the west side of the river and Gila is the town on the east side. There is a loving diversity of people who call the valley their home.
  • Lovely, quiet and simple with a huge dark sky and sound of the Gila river in the background. Bearpaw ranch has so much to see and the entire area is a vacationers dream. Look for the wild javelina hogs, Sandhill Crains, and many native.and migratory birds to view on the ranch. Get your groceries in Silver City before you drive out to Cliff. You will not want to go back to the city.🤠🐎

  • We did not get to stay because weather forced one of the highways to close. We had to turn around 50 miles from the destination. We were unable to get to the cabin, but Rose was a great at communicating ahead of the trip and was gracious and understanding when we had to cancel two hours before check in. We look forward to booking again when there’s not a snow storm.

    Melissa2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • The Gatehouse at Bear Paw Ranch was exceptional! We so enjoyed our stay and used the Gatehouse as home base for exploring Gila and stargazing at the cosmic campground. Rose also doesn't advertise this, but there's a beautiful Appaloosa and 2 mules who love carrots and apples! That was one of my favorite parts. Rose was a great host and very friendly towards us, with helpful tips and extra kindness.

    Roxy2019-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • Nature at its best.

    Jesus2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • I loved this place. Rose’s ranch was amazing. I didn’t want to leave! I had such a relaxing and special time. I can’t wait to go back. Everything was perfect from the duck pond to the river trail, the museum of oddities, to the cozy cabin I got to stay in. Rose was warm and welcoming yet gave me the space I needed to enjoy the solitude. Thank you!

  • Spectacular property. Expert host.

    Kate2019-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Rose was thoughtful and detailed in her directions, and the place was amazing. We really enjoyed staying at the Stewart House with a full kitchen of tools for cooking, a lovely gas stove and outdoor gas grill. Beds were comfortable and our dog loved the yard and property. A lovely weekend stay away that I would highly recommend!

    Kristin2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • The Gatehouse was a perfect choice for wonderful week away with our 2 dogs. They loved the yard and the ability for long walks off leash! We loved the cabin. Very relaxing!

I once listed this as a private room but so many guests tell me it's like an apartment I've switched to that. It's 400 square feet with a private entrance and has everything you need except the kitchen sink and a dishwasher. That's me. I've been told that as I don't charge a cleaning fee, which is apparently a big deal, I should mention that here.
This big sunny (most of the time) apartment and the older house it's built onto sit on six acres on a dead end and are completely private, secluded and peaceful, yet are only four miles from downtown Silver City. Drive another mile and you come to the Gila National Forest with a picnic area and several immediately accessible trailheads. You have your own private entrance and patio, and there are big windows (and country views) on three sides, with a queen size bed (and an air mattress available for the intrepid). The bathroom is kind of special and has a giant tiled shower with three high windows, so you're looking at treetops and sky while you soap yourself. There's satellite TV, a table and chairs and wifi, a couple of easy chairs, some interesting books by local and non-local authors and a big old dresser with a fridge, microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker, cutlery and dishes - everything you need to make breakfast and simple meals. AND I wash the dishes when you've used them and put them back. (There's no way to show this on the first page so I have to stick it in here. I list a two-night minimum stay. Should you wish to book for one night only, there's a $15 surcharge, making the price for the night $80.) Half a dozen deer (at least) parade by twice a day on their daily travels, and foxes and coyotes aren't exactly rare. I did once have an enormous steer and two sheep appear outside the kitchen window, but I can't promise that. And if star gazing is your thing, you can sit outside at dusk, watch the moon come up if the timing's right (and maybe a skunk or two glide by - and they really do glide; they're beautiful) and thanks to Silver City's usually cloudless weather, be almost guaranteed a sky filled with brilliant stars - much better than the TV. (One word of warning: Silver's altitude is 6,500 feet - not high enough to cause severe altitude sickness but enough to make your first couple of days here difficult if you're not used to it. It's never bothered me but I've learned from visiting friends the lower oxygen supply can easily tire you out and make you light-headed and sometimes nauseous - nothing that doesn't pass quickly and nothing life-threatening, but nothing you want while you're on vacation either! I've begun to advise anyone who comes to visit to get themselves some ChlorOxygen - Amazon and health food stores stock it - and start to take it a couple of days before they're due to arrive. It's completely harmless - made from English stinging nettles - and will boost your body's red cell production just enough to prepare you for the lower air pressure here. It's worked for all my friends so far, I highly recommend it and should you choose to ignore my advice, I always have some in the fridge! )
  • Pamela is quick to respond and available for conversation. The area was quite serene and the room spacious for 2 and a dog. Being situated close to trails was quite nice as well.

  • Pamela's place is perfect for us. We love the fact that it is so quiet and you feel like you're in the country, but you're only 5 minutes from downtown. The suite is big and sunny and has everything we could need, along with a beautiful view. Pamela is the perfect hostess. We always enjoy our visits at her place.

  • Pamela is a great host. There to answer any questions you may have built also gives you your space. The casita is bright and sunny as indicated. LOTS of windows that allow you to lie in bed and enjoy the view of the Juniper trees. Wonderful BIG shower! Your own private entrance and outside sitting area. Pamela left us yummy homemade cookies that were fantastic with tea. We will be back. :)

  • A quaint place of quiet and clean yet close to downtown Silver. I’ll stay here again!

  • What a sweet little space to call your own while visiting Silver City. Great location, clean and safe and quiet. Pamela goes out of her way to make it very special. She answered all our questions promptly and helped us with advice about the town. Pamela is a gracious and thoughtful Super Host. We will definitely recommend her and her cozy place to anyone we know going to Silver City. Thanks a million, Pamela! You're the Best!

    Janiece2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • We've stayed at Pamela's every time we've visited Silver for the past 4 years. The apartment is lovely -- sunny, spacious, comfortable, feels like home. Pamela is the perfect host. For more details, please read our prior reviews. But the bottom line is that we wish every airbnb/hotel/motel was like Pamela's place...we'd probably travel more if we knew we could count on staying at places like Pamela's.

NEW BIG DISCOUNTS FOR WEEKLY STAYS AND LONGER! "Inn at the LC" Stay at the Historic Lyons & Campbell Ranch Headquarters, in the rustic, partially renovated, 1892 adobe, two bedroom, two bathroom "Main Bunkhouse", in secluded Gila, NM. Built to sleep a lot of cowboys, the Main Bunkhouse is a much larger and more rustic accommodation than the fully renovated Gatehouse. Privacy is somewhat limited as access to the King Bedroom and small bathroom are through the Queen bedroom.
The "Main Bunkhouse" is an old Historic adobe Cowboy Bunkhouse, built in 1892. Like a time capsule, It is only partially renovated, with plenty of rustic charm and character. It is a well appointed accommodation in an Historic setting, perfect for two well acquainted couples, or a large family up to 7 people. Two Bedrooms, the back bedroom with King Size four-post bed has the privacy you would expect from a master bedroom. The first bedroom with a Queen and single lacks that privacy as it is also access to the King Bedroom and small bathroom. A very comfortable Queen size pull out couch, closest to the large bathroom, in the huge living room will accommodate another couple. Air conditioned, full kitchen, 50" flat screen Satellite TV, 2 private bathrooms. To be clear, there are NO restaurants or grocery stores nearby. You have a full kitchen, so do your grocery shopping on your way here. Silver City is 30 miles away and has supermarkets and restaurants. Once you're settled in, time to check out the Ranch. You simply must take the tour of the Main House. You will not understand this place until you do. Tours are complimentary for Airbnb guests. The Lyons and Campbell Ranch Headquarters is a 60 room, 8 acre, Adobe compound that today includes a 27 room Main House, Saloon, Jail, Wedding Chapel, Theatre, Gallery, Bunkhouse, Bath house with large wood-fired communal Hot Tub, Swimming Pool and Lanai with wood burning brick pizza oven and BBQ. (Bath house, Hot Tub, Swimming Pool and pizza oven are seasonal, and not available in the winter.) The cattle, cowboys and million acres are long gone. Cattle Baron Tom Lyons' 27 room adobe mansion, lavishly refurnished, remains along with all the outbuildings of the L C Ranch Headquarters. A 501(c)3, your stay will help fund ongoing restoration projects. Donations are tax-deductible.
Although the LC is a destination in itself, the surrounding area has lots to offer from hiking and bird watching to off-road ATV/UTV adventures in the nearby Burro mountains and scenic on-road driving adventures, with very little traffic, suitable for family outings or spirited forays through picturesque landscapes in your sports car or motorcycle. There is one restaurant, Tammy's Cafe, which is very good, but no grocery, or Liquor stores here! You will need to do your shopping in Silver City, 30 miles before you get here. Wal-Mart and Albertson's, right on U.S. 180 in Silver City, are your best bets. With advance notice, and a fee, Weekend guests can request a BBQ ($100) or Wood Fired Pizza party by the pool, $50 minimum, up to 4 people.
  • We stayed for the Christmas holiday due to the location. Alex is such a wonderful host. We appreciated all they did to make things easy for our family. The bunkhouse is such a neat place. Wish we had time for the tour! Next trip.

  • A Gem and a Jewel. If you are looking for an out of the way place with a history than look no further than the Lyons & Campbell Ranch. When I was searching for a get away I chose this place because it was dog friendly and had a pool - well it exceeded my expectations! The history tour was very interesting! Alex made sure the tour fit into our schedule and was incredible gracious with sharing his knowledge. The bunkhouse we stayed in was clean, fixed up and has a great deal of character but you are looking for something really posh this is not your cup of tea. And while the owners are on sight and there was one other airbnd rental at the headquarters we felt like it was very private. I would not hesitate to escape to the L&C again. Thank you Alex & Robin!

    Ashton2019-06-17T00:00:00Z

  • We stayed at the bunkhouse at the LC and we just loved it. The property itself is probably the biggest draw -- it's got quite a storied history that included cattle barons, murders, a utopian colony, and an ice factory. Alex's family bought the property several decades ago, and you can see his affection for the place (he is also a very knowledgeable and friendly tour guide). His father was an opera singer who toured Europe, and the family has lived in the property, filled it with period antiques, and had what I can only imagine were amazing parties over the decades. Today the old estate is somewhat in need of repair, but it was great fun to tour it and see how the family has used this unique property over the years. The bunkhouse itself was very clean and home-y, with a well-equipped kitchen and comfortable beds and showers. It's an older building but was perfectly comfortable for our group, and the age of the place just adds to the charm. If you like a place with an interesting history and lots of nooks and crannies to explore, you'll enjoy the LC ranch.

  • A quirky but positively charming property. Lots of historical interest. Big property for the kids to really stretch out. The saloon has a fooseball table and a pool table. Our host even made root beer floats for our kids. Such a wonderful gesture. The kids also loved the owners’ big gentle Newfoundland dogs who tolerated our yappy dog with patience. Not much in the way of amenities nearby so bring along some groceries and enjoy the well equipped bungalow.

I highly recommend this place to anyone interested in the history of the area or a truly unique and one of a kind experience. The hospitality of the hosts were incredible, we were very well taken care throughout our stay. The dogs are fun companions and much love by us all too. • Beautiful place in a spectacular location! Tom was a great host and we'd love to return!

  • Toms place was exactly what we were looking for a peaceful quiet house in the woods with plenty of hiking near by.

    Rebecca2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • This was just a perfect jumping off point for exploration not to mention and super cute and cozy place. It was perfectly set up and right near to Buckhorn Saloon.... which ya gotta go to. Great feel and food, even had dinner by the open fireplace. The whole area was a great experience and this little house was the icing on the cake!

  • This modern yet rustic casita is absolutely peaceful and beautiful. A great getaway into the trees and hills of lovely Pinos Altos- our stay was quiet, calming, very private, and greatly exceeded our expectations. We had everything we could need and I found I didn't want to leave. The owners set bird seed and feeders right by the window so you can relax, unwind, and connect with nature all in one sitting. Clean, comfortable, and perfect. This place is far enough away that you get a retreat into nature while being close to town at the same time. And don't miss the Buckhorn Saloon and Opera House!

  • Unique and fun casita! Had everything we could have needed for some R & R. Our pup enjoyed the trails right off the property and was not far at all from the main town. Great hosts who thought of lots of little things. Provided extensive info about the area and things to do. Thanks again :)

  • Lovely place to stay would stay there again in a minute.

    Robert2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Tom's place is excellent! We very much enjoyed our stay. The casita itself was meticulously planned with the environment in mind, which which we always appreciate, and gets tons of natural light. The kitchen was thoughtfully stocked with everything you need and was nice and big. We loved the super comfy bed with nice heavy duvets and comfy pillows, and casita was situated on a quiet hillside nook that was so nice to return to after running around for the day. Tom was very welcoming and his communication was excellent, and provided tons of very detailed, helpful info to us before our arrival. More info was provided about activities in the area upon our arrival, so we were able to take advantage of one of the beautiful hikes available just outside the front door of the casita; they also curated a list of nearby restaurants, which is so much more helpful than online search results. We also REALLY appreciated that the casita is dog friendly as well. We will definitely be returning the next time we're in town!

  • This was a fantastic spot! We loved the cozy cabin feel and appreciated the fact that we could bring our dogs. The floors creaked a bit (part of the charm for sure), but was only an issue since our dogs moved around quite a bit at night; so the creaking kept us awake. But seriously, this is a great spot! I highly recommend if you’re in the Silver City area! Thanks Jan!

  • Jan and Lew are exceptional hosts! My mother and I met Lew first, and he is so friendly and sweet. Then Jan greeted us with big hugs and made sure we were settled. Both made my mother and I feel very welcome and made sure we were comfortable throughout our stay. There were also so many cute deer, which was a plus! Great place to stay and relax!

  • I am a repeat guest who loves staying with Azaima. I travel to Silver City on business and this is my go-to place for rest and relaxation. I can take walks in nature, soak in the jacuzzi, relax on the porch overlooking the mountains, or cook a lovely meal indoors with a great sitting area. Just what I need whether working all day or recreating in the Gila, one of the most beautiful parts of New Mexico. Once again, an enjoyable, convenient, hassle-free stay with Azaima!

    Susan2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Azaima was very hospitable and her space is wonderful. The vernacular of the home makes it feel authentic and serene. Amazing views!

    Devanne2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • We only stayed one night at Azaima’s retreat as we passed through the area, and we immediately regretted that we hadn’t planned our itinerary better so that we could have stayed longer. The entire property is beautiful, peaceful, and feels super secluded, yet is a very short drive from downtown Silver City, which is a cute little town. We arrived kind of late but Azaima, her husband, and their 2 sweet dogs were all waiting to welcome us and give us a tour. The Hummingbird suite was beautiful with lots of interesting details and things to look at, and we enjoyed looking up at the stars from the hot tub at night and sipping on a cup of coffee in the light-filled dining area in the morning. Azaima and her husband are friendly, genuine people, and we had some really nice conversations with them during our stay. We hope to be back someday, but in the meantime we would absolutely recommend the Heart and Wings Retreat to other travelers!

  • Great cabin, very quiet, comfortable, and super clean. The dirt road to get there was a little muddy because of the rain but nothing major. The ranch is in a beautiful location and even-though there were other cabins around, everything was very quiet. We even had snow!

    Isabelle2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful Cabin! While we could see other cabins we still felt secluded. The views were stunning and the cabin was clean, cute and comfy. We did a lot of cooking and there was a fully stocked kitchen with lots of spices and condiments in the fridge. Wonderful trip! Thank you:)

  • A beautiful little cabin with a perfect porch for lounging around and reading books. Listening to the turkeys along the creek was a special treat.

  • Debbie's place is a breath of fresh air, literally! We stayed there to take a break from the day-to-day, and this was the perfect location. The space is cozy, comfortable, and inviting, and it was such a treat just to sit on the front porch and decompress. We really appreciated all the amenities, from Wifi to cool decor, to a well appointed kitchen, which we used extensively. Debbie even provides a charcoal grill and charcoal, which was amazing. If you're looking for a place to have a relaxing weekend, go pay her a visit--we will definitely be back! By the way, this is the perfect location to lie under the AMAZING stars!

  • This is a sweet cabin with all the amenities. Our stay was quiet and relaxing. Check in was simple, communication great. We loved exploring the area in the daytime and returning in the late afternoon to enjoy refreshments while sitting on the porch. The kitchen is well equipped. There are many wonderful touches in the cabin making it an exceptional place. Thank you!

    Elizabeth2019-04-15T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was true to the pictures and then some. There was a lot of attention to detail making it a special SW ranch theme. It was so totally relaxing and quiet. It was a very pretty setting in the hills/mountains with the creek running through the property. We were even treated to watching horsemanship while Alan shot at balloons in the arena while on horseback. It was totally safe to view as he was shooting black powder blanks. He was practicing for a competition. The necessities were ample, with a well stocked. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom had plenty of towels. We would enjoy being there again if in the Silver City area.

  • Becky and Mike provide exactly what they state, it was an incredible experience. We enjoyed our 2 days, did their hikes and 2 others Mike suggested. The stars were the bright and beautiful. If I could turn around and go back I would. Loved the bird feeders!!

  • Becky and Michael were great hosts. The Casitas de Gila was perfect for: 1) Stargazing, we took our telescope along and had two very dark sky nights for stargazing, they also provided a spotting scope; 2) Hiking on their property was great; 3) Birding, we had many hummingbird visitors, a cardinal and juncos. Bird seed and a hummingbird feeder were available at the casita; 4) Becky's pumpkin bread was delicious!

  • Absolutely magical place.

    Elena2019-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • We spent NYE here and had a wonderful time! The casitas are secluded and the hikes around the property are beautiful! The casitas have everything you need to cook, build fires and mostly relax! We hope to come back! The trip to Gila National Forest is also worth the drive!

  • If you are looking for a private, quiet, and clean space where nature is just outside your front door, Casitas de Gila is an amazing place. The passion and attention to detail Michael and Becky have for their property is obvious from the time you arrive. You can take an early morning stroll, on the maintained trails, down into the creek valley where you can relax in a hammock or zero gravity chairs or do some serious hiking on their 200 plus acres. Casitas de Gila is also a great place to use as a home base to get out and experience all the things the Gila National forest has to offer. Also, Michael and Becky are readily available when needed, but give lots of privacy and space for people to just enjoy their beautiful property. We will be back! The McBride's

  • I stayed here on a recent trip to Silver City and Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument. Susan's house is a great cottage with a good amount of space for three of us. Located in a quiet area, this was everything we were looking for!

  • Great place! Host was awesome and helpful!

  • Oh.My.Stars. If you like viewing the night sky, this is the place for you! We sat in our chairs and enjoyed the night sky. You can see the Milky Way! If you're a light sleeper, you may want to pack ear plugs. Night sounds and house sounds woke us up; but hearing the coyotes howling in the distance was really cool!

    Nancy2019-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • Susan's place was perfect for our needs. It was peaceful, quiet and comfortable and well located for checking out the historic buildings of Pinos Altos or exploring the Gila Wilderness. The orchard had quite a diversity of birds and I regret not having brought my binoculars. Susan was very helpful and gave us suggestions on local hikes and activities. We also very much enjoyed petting Stewie the cat who came around when we were relaxing outside on the porch. This is a great place if you are looking to unwind from the city yet not be too far removed from the comforts of town.

  • Azaima’s place was perfect for our stay in Silver City/Gila National Forest. Azaima (and her sweet dogs) met us in person and showed us around the property. We felt so cozy in the space during our stay. This was also a great jumping off point for exploring Gila National Forest and Silver City. We highly recommend this place!

This special space used to house the Pinos Altos Orchards gift shop and comercial kitchen to Jan’s Jams, a local favorite when it came to jams, jellies, and canned goods. This is where the house gets its name, the Jelly house! Fully furnished and full of bright colors, creative tile work, and charm, this little house nestled in the middle of a very old fruit orchard is great for a group, couple, or traveling worker wanting a little comfort while having the Gila wilderness in the back yard.
  • This is a sweet house in a lovely location just a 12 minute drive outside of Silver City. Susan was very helpful and kind. I highly recommend Jelly House.

  • This is the second year my family has stayed at the Jelly House for the holidays. The house is clean, quiet, cozy, and in a perfect area to explore beautiful Pinos Altos and Silver City. I highly recommend this place, and look forward to staying here again :)

  • Plenty of room for a family of four. Kitchen well equipped.

    Donna2019-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay here. Pinos Altos is a great location in the mountains near Silver City and other attractions in Southwestern NM. The only thing I would note is that the bedrooms do not have doors, but do have curtains for some privacy.

    Kelli2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful check in. Even though we didn't get in until late, Susan greeted us and gave us the run down of her adorable little Jelly House.

This unique and cozy studio apartment, beautifully built with a wooden post and beam frame and glass bottle walls, is nestled in the center of historic Pinos Altos, New Mexico on nearly 2 acres of land. Located only minutes away from the Gila National Forrest, Continental Divide Trail and a short 7 mile drive to Silver City, New Mexico. Perfect place for those who would like to be close to nature but also have the comforts and convenience of a fully equipt bed, bath, and kitchen.
  • This is a quite a special place. It is incredibly beautiful to wake up to the sun coming in through all the bottles. Extremely comfortable and cozy. I got a lot of work done. Definitely will be back!

    Laura2019-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • Great place. Would stay again

  • We loved staying at the bottle house! The house is adorable and there is everything you could need. We ran into Susan as she was pulling into her driveway and she was extremely friendly. Communication was easy and our questions were answered quickly. Next time we come this way we’d love to stay here again.

    Bailey2019-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed for three nights at The Bottle House to do some writing and editing. It is such a unique and special space, and the perfect place to arrive with a bag of groceries & hunker down for a few days. No wifi and no cell service (I have AT&T) ended up being really helpful for my creative process/productivity. I plan to return in a few months to do some more work.

    Jennifer2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • An absolutely amazing experience. Have you even been to a place that finally felt like home? Well, I have. This spot is nestled sweetly in Pinos Altos just around the corner from the Buckhorn Salloon. Great food wonderful atmosphere. The bottle house is such a sweet spot here just outside of SC. A quirky place that was cozy, breezy, quiet, hippy, & best of all, with the best energy! I slept so well in this comfy bed & in the morning made coffee & simply relaxed in peace. It was so difficult to close the door here but I know I will return. Thank you!

    Gina2019-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • The Bottle House was so much more than the pictures showed. The character of the home is something you don’t often see. It is a great home base for exploring the surrounding areas. Only a few minutes walk to the old buckhorn saloon opera house. The back porch felt private and was a great way to hang out outside. We will definitely plan another stay in the Bottle House.

    Candace2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • A truly unique get away private and serene. The light through the bottles takes a lot of time. I hope to stay again some day.

2 rooms plus a bathroom, with a shady front porch and a small private back deck. Front room is a living room/kitchen with a trundle day bed (can be 2 twins or combined as a king size bed), fridge, stove, oven, toaster, coffeemaker, kettle, sink, and dishware. NOTE: Back bedroom has a DOUBLE/FULL size bed (some couples have noted that they find this small for 2 people - it's a standard size FULL bed), closet, luggage holder, and small shelf and drawer space. Our beds are real, comfy mattresses!
Light, bright, fresh... this is the look/feel we want to convey in the space and decorating. There's a cozy, homey feeling to it.
The Stone Casita is less than a mile from downtown Silver City. It's a downhill walk getting to downtown, and an uphill walk back to the Stone Casita. The Casita is fairly close to the street, so sometimes there's some noise from vehicles or people walking by, but usually it's pretty quiet.
  • This is a very cozy and peaceful spot while being close to the downtown area. I would definitely stay here again.

    Brian2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • I loved everything about this little casita--beautiful light, private, and roomier than I expected, with a great homey vibe. The location was perfect for walking to the symposium at the nearby university, and only a hop, skip, and jump away from downtown. Great little neighborhood spot, felt right at home. Would definitely stay here again.

    Cedra2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Great little home close to downtown. Had everything I needed for a comfortable stay. The Casita was clean, comfortable and we'll stocked. Only note is if traveling as a couple the bed is small. Maybe a double bed? I had a great stay and would definetly stay here again.

    Tess2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • I really enjoyed my stay at Jessica's place and hope to return on a future trip! The casita is exactly as pictured and described, very charming and comfortable. Kitchen is equipped with everything you would need to cook all meals, and Jessica thoughtfully provided coffee, a good assortment of teas, oatmeal, spices, and condiments. Neighborhood is close to the college, and a few minutes drive from downtown Silver City but all was quiet and peaceful.

  • The Stone Casita is a clean & charming stay an easy walk to WNMU, events and eateries in downtown Silver City, or to hiking trailheads in the area. The bed is comfy, there are ample linens, and the water is hot with plenty of pressure. The hosts fully disclose that there is no television but the wi-fi was more than ample and reliable. They also provided many options for warmth if you are visiting during colder seasons, like we were. Our hosts had kindly turned the heat on for our arrival. The kitchen was fully outfitted with everything we needed to prepare full meals, even our Thanksgiving for two. Parking is steps from the front door. Jessica has also put together a binder for points of local interest & history that is worth browsing. We will return.

  • This place is really out in the sticks. but if that’s what you’re looking for, it’s awesome. I think this house is the best on their property, somewhat secluded from the others and the porch is fantastic. The horses graze 20 ft from the front door. They even have a hiking trailhead right on the property. Would absolutely stay again.

  • My family and I had a great time at the ranch. It was our first time in the area and didn't really know what to expect. The house is nestled in a little valley and is like an oasis against the desert surrounding. The setting is beautiful and very peaceful. The house is rustic but has everything you need to be comfortable. The wrap around porch was perfect for drinking coffee in the morning. We hope to be back soon!

This house is beautifully situated just north of Gila NM close to Gila Wilderness attractions. It's setting is quiet and serene and just a few steps from the largest of our ponds here at Bearpaw Ranch. Great for bird watching and close to extraordinary hiking. Cozy adobe with a rock fireplace and well equipped large kitchen.
Very near the Gila Wilderness and river. Horse friendly. 35 m from Silver City NM off highway. The Stewart House is very private and serene. Bearpaw Ranch straddles the Gila river and the river is just a short walk away. The largest of our 4 ponds is just a short walk from the front door. We allow catch and release fishing for our guests. Fully furnished adobe house. Two bedrooms, large living room with lovely rock fireplace. Fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, microwave, full size frig and even a workable antique wood cook stove. Washer and dryer, satellite TV and WiFi. This is a small working ranch and we are usually busy working on something. We love meeting new folks but also respect your privacy. You can spend days never seeing anyone if you so choose. There is a small community library and Senior Citizen center 3milles down the road if you want to be more sociable. It is really up to you. We want your stay here to be restful and restorative, or busy and challenging. Whichever is your cup of tea.
Gila, the town is half of a two town "valley" community. Cliff is the town on the west side of the river and Gila is the town on the east side. There is a loving diversity of people who call the valley their home.
  • The Stewart House at Bearpaw Ranch is a special place. The beds are comfortable, the kitchen is very well stocked, and we love the fireplace for winter time fires. Rose is a wonderful host and just walking around the Ranch, the pond and to the Gila River is so relaxing and rejuvenating. Amazing sunsets and night skies and so much to do in the area. We will definitely return!

  • We loved our second stay at Bearpaw Ranch - it was as great as the first! The Stewart House is fantastic - it has beautiful views plus all of the comforts of home (and more). We loved watching the sunrises, the sunsets, walking around the Ponds, watching the ducks, and just enjoying the peace and quiet of the ranch. It is one of our favorite places! Thank you Rose for creating this magical place and sharing it. We will be back!

  • Our family had such a nice time at the cabin & ranch. We just wish we could have had another day or two to unwind there. For prospective travelers this would also be an excellent place to stay as a base camp for exploring the area (aka Catwalk, Silver City, Gila Cliff Dwellings, etc), though, we chose just to chill out on the property. Loved exploring the ranch, the museum/general store, getting acquainted with the ducks, the ponds, and of course the river. Great hikes to be had, and a lot of history. The cabin itself was very clean and comfortable, and very homey. In the evenings we making out meals there, playing board games, and just relaxing together. Rose and Sherri are wonderful hosts, and provide all the things and information you should need. We hope to come back again.

    Michael2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Rose's Place is all that she describes and more! The grounds of the Bear Paw Ranch are beautiful! Sherri is a gracious and helpful host! We will be back!

  • What an absolute GEM! We were looking for a place to stay and relax after my husband's return from deployment. His parents came down from SD for a quick trip over the 4th of July. It was very spacious and the amenities--wow! You could really live there long term (we kept finding things in the kitchen cabinet: immersion blender, cheese grater, even some kitty treats-- well beyond the typical bare bones one-skillet and a pot of some places. The ranch was wonderful too. Our little ones fell in love with the ducks at the duck pond and there were so many places to hike and explore. It's off the beaten path which is just what we needed: Peace and quiet to rest and rejoice in our reunion! Such a blessing. I highly, highly recommend! We will be back :-)

  • This was a last minute decision for us to stay at the Stewart House when life and work got in the way and we realized that our planned tent-camping trip was want going to happen. Extremely pleased with the experience—clean, quiet, lots of room to wander, the fenced backyard was safe and perfect for our pups. I’m sure we will return in the future :)

Our vacation home rentals are affordable and all conveniently located 3 miles east of the quaint Village of Gila and a short 7-mile drive across the Gila River to the town of Cliff. Just across the river in Cliff, NM you will find Tammy's Cafe, open Tuesday through Sunday for lunch and dinner.
  • Debbie, Alan and Chris were amazing hosts. We spent an entire month at the Hideout Cabin and had everything we needed, including privacy. The Cabin was clean, very cozy and the bed was super comfortable. Kitchen had everything we needed to be able to cook all of our meals every day. The ranch and surrounding land was beautiful, relaxing and peaceful. Much to explore within a short drive from the cabin, which was listed in a helpful binder full of information about the area. It was just the kind of get away we were looking for!

  • Stunning views, incredible location, more ammenities than you could ask for, fabulously kind and generous hosts, and soul-soothing peace and quiet. My 3 month stay with Debbie and her ranch started as a way to unwind but ended up opening a new chapter in my life, New Mexico or Bust. If you're looking for a beautiful, natural place to decompress, with great privacy and access to the Gila Forest, Silver City and all the places between, this is the one.

  • Staying at the Double E Ranch was such a wonderful experience! The hiking on property was breathtaking and the ranch itself is the perfect balance of secluded yet accessible. There were also plenty of activities for my dogs, including playing in the local stream! It was such a gift to be able to stay here, and I would love to visit again!

    BriAnne2018-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful cabin in the woods. Hosts were easy to contact and checking in was a breeze. There was lots of helpful information at the cabin pertaining to potential adventures locally. The cabin was very comfy, clean, and quiet. Great stay and would go back in a heart beat.

    Grace2018-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay in the cabin was lovely. It's a sweet space - clean, cozy and lots of thoughtful touches (nice sheets & comforter, good selection of cookware, etc). I had the flu the whole time and appreciated the access to Netflix! My boyfriend got to do a little exploring and we would love to go back (sans flu) and really take the area in more. Was really a great place to stay!

    Sarah2017-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • This is one of the most amazing places we've ever stayed in. The property is enchanting, there is amazing hiking near by, and Debbie and Alan were such thoughtful and generous hosts! Every detail has been thought through, and the cabin was stocked with everything we could have needed and more. You DEFINITELY want to go here! We hope to go for a longer period of time in the future!

Enjoy the outdoors on a small farm brewery in the Gila National Forest. Rustic and remote, stay in our remodeled 1959 mobile scout camper set in the mountains of southern New Mexico. Hiking, biking and vehicle trails, including the CDT are accessible from the farm by foot and car. The farm is home to horses, goats, chickens, ducks, cats and dogs. We have four rotating taps of our wild brews (beer and non-alc). Enjoy a free tasting flight when you check in before dark.
Light and bright vintage camper with covered awning and outdoor chairs. Your own separate space away from the common areas, where we hope you will make yourselves at home. A small woodfired stove inside can be used for cooler nights. There is a closet for hanging clothes and storing luggage. Warm blankets and flashlights provided. The camper is off-grid and has a small solar lantern. A short walk away is the secluded outhouse for privacy. Running hot & cold water, an outdoor shower, wifi, charging, fridge space and cooking items are available by the communal kitchen space by the brewery & where you park. Silver City and Cliff are both a ~30 minutes drive away (closest grocery + gas). Tucson is 3.5 hours and Albuquerque is 5.5 hours driving.
The farm and our neighbors are set inside the Gila National Forest. Red Rock Road leads you in from Hwy 180 along the New Mexico Birding Trail. The roads to the farm are paved until you reach the neighborhood and these last few miles of road are dirt. They are passable by all cars except during the most inclement weather when alternative means can be arranged. We recommend you plan to arrive before dark as there are no road lights out in the forest.
  • Staying at Page’s place was an amazing experience. The hosts are super friendly and we loved talking to them. It’s a beautiful area and the dogs are absolutely lovely. We definitely recommend this airbnb for everyone who likes a little bit of an adventure!

  • Page and Gabe's place was awesome. The camper was a bit drafty but overall this was a great vacation. They have a full kitchen, WIFI, hot water for showers and cleaning dishes, an amazing outhouse with great views, and they brew their own beers as well as fizz! All the beverages were amazing! Thank you for an amazing stay!

    Arti2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • This place is awesome. Page and Gabe went above and beyond to make us feel at home. There are plenty of things to see/experience like the animals, the art walk and the many, many stars in the sky! We loved the sunflower ale and elderberry fizz they brew on the property!! This is such a great find for anyone wanting to getaway!

    Bianca2019-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • A hidden GEM. If you are looking for a place with the grit of homestead living and plenty of character, you will love it here. The hosts are impossibly welcoming and made us feel like old friends visiting. Definitely go if you are in the area.

    Momo2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Page is an outstanding host who genuinely cares about her guests. The property is beautiful, and the beer is delicious. Local tips are an added bonus :)

    Jena2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • If you are accustomed to the outdoors, great people, and outhouses this is an amazing get away!

  • Page and Gabe's place was awesome. The setting is just so magical and beautiful and the awesome farm environment makes time seem to slow down a bit. This was a great place to unplug and unwind. Their hospitality alone made the stay an excellent find and an excellent value. We hope to stay if we are in the area again in the future!

Welcome to the country yet minutes from town. This is a 2080 sq. foot two story home with spacious living quarters in a very quiet neighborhood. Enjoy your morning coffee, tea or hot chocolate on the front porch while watching the sun rise and enjoying the peacefulness and quietness that nature has to offer. The house does have three TV's so if you feel like losing yourself in TV land, or reading a good book, this is the place for you!
I have two cats and a dog. As much as I clean, there may be a little of my dog's white hair along with the cats showing up around the place. I am open to pets as long as they are potty trained and well behaved. There is a fenced-in yard. Right now, the patio off of the kitchen is being built and is not available. I am in the process of having it complete soon. There will not be any heavy construction; just manual labor to get the Pavers laid out. There is a place to enjoy the outdoors from the entrance to the house which has a large entry way..
The home is located on 5 acres of land. The dirt road to get here is about one mile and is county maintained. It is less than 10 minutes from down town. The house is heated by a Pellet Stove which works great. The only room that may be a little more on the cool side is the bathroom off of the Master Bedroom, but all-in-all, the house is very comfortable. The cooling system is a swamp cooler, which works great without the humidity. On those days with higher humidity, you just have to open the doors to the place to get a draft going through. It really is a comfortable place, as well as the weather!

Hosts Jennifer and Brent take this previous Superhost property and apply their hospitality experience to provide a comfortable, memorable stay. With the qualities you expect at a franchise hotel, the apartment features the amenities of a home while offering the cultural and social experience of being downtown.
Use the free WiFi and Smart TV to log in to your streaming service account and enjoy your favorite shows and movies from the road. The shower is stocked with J.R. Watkins shampoo, conditioner and body wash, certified cruelty-free and made with naturally-derived, non-toxic ingredients and essential oils. We provide local flavor magazines, travelers’ guides and maps so you have the best stay possible in Silver City. • Jennifers place was just as expected. Very close to downtown walkable historic district. The amenities were wonderful. Although getting to the second floor there are steep steps. We truly enjoyed our stay there it was peaceful and quiet. I had a question for Jennifer and she got right back to me.

Easy-entry shower has grab bars and shower seat. WiFi throughout house. Central heat. AC window units for the hotter months. We do not have a TV and hope you have plenty to do so you won’t miss it! There is a small radio with Bluetooth and USB capabilities to stream your favorite tunes. Enclosed and private back patio has seating area and propane grill. Parking is on-street and shared with other neighbors. Please only park directly in front of house.
  • Only a couple blocks from the historic downtown, so the location was perfect. Many modern touches in the interior which blend well with the old charm of the house. With all the windows, the natural lighting was appreciated. . The back patio was a splendid spot to have an afternoon cocktail. The whole house was spotless and she left a few starter items in the refrigerator, like cream for our coffee. Many little touches throughout the house. Revel was an excellent restaurant in town.

  • This is a great little cottage in a terrific location for exploring the best of Silver City. You have everything nearby from galleries, good coffee, delicious restaurants, and friendly people. It's also just a short drive to the Gila forest for hikes. The cottage accommodated us perfectly. Cozy beds, great shower, functional kitchen and very clean.

    Christie2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice place. It was perfect for 2 couples. The bedrooms were large and had nice closets. The location was nice, within walking distance of downtown. I was confused by the app, and made a mistake in my reservation. The host was very good about working with me.

    Denise2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful place to stay in Silver City while we explored the Gila Wilderness! Close to Silver City's main drag with lots of restaurants and shops. Megan provided extra touches such as books, guidebooks, travel suggestions, and games. There was plenty of space for two adults, and this was a comfy place to unwind after a day of hiking.

    Tammy2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Desert Cottage in Silver City was a terrific base of operations as we visited the area while touring in the southwest. We travelers were a couple and an adult friend, so the two bedrooms were perfect, and the spacious living room allowed us to relax together after a day of adventure (Gila Nat'l Monument, summit of Boston Hill..). Desert Cottage is spotless, and the kitchen and bathroom appear to have been recently updated, with improvements also to other areas of the house. Communication with Megan, who is a local resident, was easy/timely/efficient, and her knowledge of the area was especially useful. The location of Desert Cottage, in a quiet neighborhood only a short distance from the downtown restaurants, and a few steps from the trailhead on Boston Hill, was a nice feature. All in all, our stay at Desert Cottage lived up to Megan's having earned the "Superhost" tag. The Silver City area really is one of New Mexico's tourist gems, and Desert Cottage is a great place to stay while exploring the area.

    Dale2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful place to stay. Easy walking distance to downtown and the university. Very quiet and very comfortable. You won’t be disappointed.

  • We found Megan's place as pictured. We appreciated the thoughtful touches, natural products, and literature in the cottage. Megan offered great suggestions and was easy to communicate with throughout the process. Happy to recommend to others!

  • I have lived at Dianne's home for three months. I have also signed up for an additional two months. This has been, by far and away, my best AirB&B experience. The setting, amenities, and location of this home make for a great stay. Hospitality has been top notch here. This place feels more like a home to me, rather than work-related place to stay. Anytime I stay in Silver City, I will be checking for availability here first.

    Adam2019-04-28T00:00:00Z
  • Comfortable bed in a quiet environment.

    Rafael2019-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • Diana is an exceptional hostess! She is very welcoming and concerned that her guests have everything for their comfort. Her coffee bar is the BEST! She is personable and her 2 little dogs were well-behaved and fun to play with. I stayed for a week and left as a friend.

    Sandra2019-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Diana's home is located on the east side of Silver City in a quiet neighborhood. Her large comfortable home has plenty of room to spread out and the views outside are totally amazing. Close-by are a couple fast food restaurants and shopping. A little further into the heart of Silver City, you will find history, great food and unique shopping. Recommend Diana's home and look forward to another visit.

    Holly2019-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • Diana's place was just what I needed, welcoming, comfortable, spotless, with the best view in town. A great space and great hostess!
