“Overall: I didn’t spend tons of time inside but the first & lasting impression was exactly the same as when I saw the listing and after viewing the YouTube video. If you’re looking to experience “off-the-grid” this spot was perfect. I would definitely recommend it to friends and family. Cleanliness: I greatly appreciated the cleanliness of the Earthship. Many other unique Airbnbs that allow animals do a horrible job keeping their property clean for all guests, the group kept the Earthship very clean and no animal hair was on the bed or places that I could see. For someone that is unfortunately allergic to animal hair, the cleanliness of the property was my biggest concern going in. Temperature: One thing I was expecting was feeling warm, inside the greenhouse once you open the main door. It was around 40° outside and inside it was very warm I’d say 75°. It felt very nice. Bathroom: As long as you watch the video provided nothing should surprise you. The smell described in the video coming from the toilet isn’t a gross smell. I thought it might smell like fertilizer but it just smelt like some dirt. I wish there was a different shower head with hotter water but that’s jut nitpicking. The water pressure overall was a surprise since being in an Earthship I thought it wouldn’t be that great but it was way better than many hotels. Local Tips: Nothing for this Airbnb but I thought I’d let reviewers know since I assume many will try to travel there, but if you plan to travel to Manby Hot Springs you must have a 4WD vehicle. I used Waze & had a Dodge Ram 4x4 in Feb and it would have been impossible to get there otherwise if you use Waze & a 2WD. Also make sure you have hiking boots in case there is mud and snow/ice since with those conditions, the hike isn’t “easy” as some blogs say. You’re on the side of a cliff the entire time.”
Charming separate living quarters, sharing a vine covered patio with a 90-year-old adobe home situated on scenic Highway 28. Located about 15 minutes south of Las Cruces, this quiet country getaway beckons you to stay awhile. Setting is rural.
“Candid and Lyndon are wonderful hosts/wonderful people. Their casita was not only stylish, but also extremely clean and tidy. They offer great suggestions for local restaurants, etc. as well as all of the essential necessities one would need (coffee, tea, cups, plates, etc.) I recommend this stay to anyone.”
This sun-lit and charming casita is the perfect place to call home after skiing at Taos Ski Valley or hiking in the mountains (13 miles). Only 15 minutes to restaurants, art galleries and many cultural activities. Fits well a family of 4 or friendly adults. Its like a country vacation or retreat yet close to all the activities.
“This place is a must for anyone looking to explore Taos. Donna and Bill’s casita is beautifully finished, with stunning views of the surrounding landscape. They’ve taken care to stock the place with everything you could need, and were very helpful providing recommendations for places to explore. I hope to return next time I’m in Taos!”
