Chapel Cottage is a beautiful Grade II listed cottage, which dates back to the 17th century, and is located in the heart of the picturesque village of Bourton-on-the-Water. There are also a wide range of traditional pubs, shops and restaurants, making Bourton perfect for guests of all ages. The village is surrounded by beautiful rolling countryside, and the many picturesque market towns and villages of the Cotswolds are all within easy reach, as are further afield places, such as Stratford-upon-Avon, Oxford and Bath. Bourton-on-the-Water is arguably one of the most popular villages of the Cotswolds, especially amongst overseas visitors. Having been nicknamed the "Venice of the Cotswolds", its scenery is the main draw for travellers. The River Windrush meanders through beautiful English countryside before passing over rapids next to the Old Mill and arriving at Bourton. The river is fed from many springs, with the source approximately ten miles from the village and, after flowing under the bridges of Bourton, it passes other villages before eventually joining the Thames. There are various attractions in the village, including the famous Birdland, which is home to a variety of birds from around the world. Here visitors can see parrots, pelicans, flamingos and penguins to name just a few, with experienced keepers feeding the birds and leading demonstrations. The Model Village is well worth a visit, as Bourton is the only village in the Cotswolds to have a one-ninth scale replica of itself. It is carefully maintained and has all of the characterful buildings including the Old Water Mill and the Old New Inn. Those lucky enough to witness snow in the winter months will notice photographers at the model village trying to get the perfect picture of the snowy scene. Another family favourite is the Dragonfly Maze. This yew maze leads visitors through the labyrinth, gathering clues in order to find the pavilion in the centre which enables them to unlock the final secret! The maze was constructed by Kit Williams, author of the golden hare treasure hunt book, "Masquerade". Food & Drink Bourton has a variety of places to eat and drink, including cafes, tea rooms, pubs and restaurants, with a range of prices to suit all budgets. The list below is a small sample of the options available: The Chester House Hotel and The Croft Restaurant (www.chesterhousehotel.com): Breakfast, morning coffee, lunches and evening meals in a riverside restaurant. You can enjoy freshly prepared, local produce throughout the day and night, with seasonal specials added to the menu daily. The Duke of Wellington (www.dukeofwellingtonbourton.co.uk): A local village inn aiming to provide fresh home cooked food with a friendly service. There is a light snacking menu, a full menu and a wonderful range of desserts and hot beverages. As well as daily home cooked specials, on Sundays you can enjoy a traditional carvery with all the trimmings from 12-6pm. The Mousetrap Inn (www.mousetrap-inn.com): A traditionally run Cotswold stone Inn, with a history dating back to the building of the railways in the 18th Century. Serving home-made food, along with fantastic, locally brewed real ales. The Village Restaurant & Tearooms (www.thevillagerestaurant.co.uk): Traditional, home cooked food in a friendly atmosphere, overlooking the river Windrush, in the heart of Bourton-on-the-Water.

The Cotswolds: If you’re looking for somewhere with a surprise round every corner then look no further than the beautiful Cotswolds. Famous for quintessentially English market towns and villages built from honey-coloured stone, the Cotswolds are a range of gently rolling hills and the largest Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in England and Wales making them a perfect base for keen walkers and cyclists. Escape the high street and lose yourself in village lanes full to bursting with quirky and independent shops, restaurants and farmers markets or soak up the amazing atmosphere of one of our many festivals and events. You’ll find some of the world’s most famous – and beautiful gardens in the Cotswolds, as well as wildlife parks, castles and stately homes and some of the finest historic buildings and churches in the country. Don’t be put off by our lack of coastline either! We have 40 miles of lakes in the Cotswold Water Park and numerous gently winding streams, canals and waterways criss-crossing the picturesque towns and villages. On the door step: WOODCHESTER PARK - the secret valley: Nestled in the Cotswolds, the secluded valley of Woodchester Park is home to the remains of an 18th- and 19th-century landscape park, a Victorian mansion, a chain of five lakes fringed by woodland and pasture, and an abundance of wildlife. The 19th Century Victorian Gothic Masterpiece was abandoned in mid-construction in 1873. Hidden in a secluded Cotswold valley, it is untouched by time and the modern world. This Grade 1 Listed Building has been saved from dereliction, but will never be completed. Visitors walk through an extraordinary architectural exhibit in which the secrets of the medieval Gothic builders and masons are laid bare. The carvings in Woodchester Mansion are among the finest of their kind in the world. 3 mins drive / 30 mins walk: NAILSWORTH: The artistic, market town of Nailsworth is nestled in a wooded valley in the south Cotswolds. Nailsworth is renowned for its selection of award-winning restaurants, pubs and cafes. Eating out in Nailsworth means you are spoilt for choice. Hobbs House Bakery is famous for being owned by the Fabulous Baker Brothers – Tom and Henry Herbert – and was featured on their TV show. William’s Food Hall has helped turn Nailsworth into a foodie haven. It draws celebrities and foodies through its doors to dine on fresh seafood and local produce. 5 mins drive: MINCHINHAMPTON The delightful, small market town of Minchinhampton sits on the edge of Minchinhampton Common. It's made up of pretty stone cottages, many dating back to the 17th century and medieval wool trade. There is a weekly country market and a good choice of cafes. Minchinhampton was chosen as a scenic location for the recent BBC TV adaptation of J K Rowling’s Casual Vacancy. There are breathtaking panoramic views of the Stroud Valleys from Minchinhampton Common, which sits on the Cotswold escarpment. It is an important archaeological landscape and managed by the National Trust. Rare orchids and butterflies can be spotted along with freely roaming horses and cattle. Please drive carefully over the common and keep an eye out for (URL HIDDEN) of the most famous residents is the Princess Royal who lives at Gatcombe Park on the edge of town. Every year, the famously quirky Giffords Circus takes up residence in Minchinhampton as part of its annual summer tour of the Cotswolds. 15 mins drive: TETBURY: Tetbury is a historic market town that is now internationally famous for its range of antiques shops and dealers. Independent boutique shops sit alongside restaurants that feature in the Michelin Guides. Tetbury attracts everyone from Royalty (Prince Charles and his sons' home, Highgrove, sits less than a mile away) to English countryside lovers, antique-finders, foodies and real ale connoisseurs. 8 min drive: STROUD: In the opposite direction and you will find yourself in the market town of Stroud - Situated below the western escarpment of the Cotswold Hills at the meeting point of the Five Valleys, the town is noted for its steep streets, independent spirit and cafe culture. The Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty surrounds the town, and the Cotswold Way path passes by it to the west. The award winning saturday farmers market IS A MUST! 25 min drive: BIBURY & ARLINGTON Bibury is a charming, typically Cotswold village just a short drive from Cirencester. It’s easy to see why William Morris called Bibury ‘The most beautiful village in England’ – wonderful stone buildings strung out along the banks of the River Coln. Arlington Row, owned by the National Trust, is one of England’s most iconic and photographed sites – it even appears on the inside cover of UK passports! Originally built in the 14th century as a monastic wool store, it was converted in the 17th century into a row of weavers’ cottages. The cottages are now lived in by National Trust tenants, with no public access to the cottages or gardens, although one of them can be rented out as a holiday cottage. The River Coln flows through Bibury sandwiched between the main village street and an expanse of boggy water meadow known as Rack Isle, so called because wool was once hung out to dry there on racks after it had been washed in Arlington Row. With Arlington Row as a backdrop, it makes one of the most picturesque scenes you will find in the Cotswolds. 30 min drive:CHELTENHAM SPA 45 min drive: BATH SPA

  • Our stay at Victoria’s was lovely. The Airbnb is a stylish apartment which managed to be welcoming and cosy whilst still containing a full kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and lounge area. Victoria was really helpful with telling us about the area so we could go out and explore. Both my sisters and I throughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to others.

  • Victoria and her place are so great. She went above and beyond to accommodate me and ensure I got the most out of my stay. The nearby nature reserve was so tranquil and alive. Truly a beautiful place!

  • Lovely little apartment done up to a very good standard. Very homely and cosy. Fully equipped kitchen which was great as we didn't want to head out for dinner. Was in a good location to a few shops and pubs. Bit of miscommunication with check in, however was sorted quite easily.

Our working farm has sheep and cattle as well as our pet goats, donkeys and alpaca who live just across the track from the pods . You can hire bikes from the local company via our website. Or The Black Horse at Naunton is also a lovely village pub with great pub food and a cosy atmosphere.
The Notgrove Estate is a 1500 acre family run working farm owned by Harry and Diana Acland. Set high up in the Cotswold Hills it has 400 acres of grassland in deep valleys and 100 acres of woodland and rolling arable fields. The farm has a mix of sheep, cattle and arable and has diversified with two horse livery yards and a holiday cottage business. In the last few years Harry and Diana have put in new foot and bridle paths and entered into a wildlife conservation scheme planting 200 acres of special plots planted with wild bird mixes, corn bunting mixes, pollen and nectar mixes for bees and beetle banks that promotes the preservation of our natural wild birds. The scenery changes with each season as does the pattern of farming; we have an abundance of lambs and calves in spring, harvest in summer, colourful autumn leaves and dramatic winters, often with snow.
  • This place is everything you need and more. The pods are adorable and have a lot more room inside than you would think. We stayed for one night but wish we had stayed longer. Definitely order the fire pack if you can, it was pretty windy but we still managed to get the fire pit going and it was such a lovely way to end the evening. We met the owners when having brunch at the onsite café called the Nuttery. The food hit the spot and the staff and the owners were so welcoming and extremely hospitable. Definitely somewhere you will want to go back to in the future, we are already looking to book this place again! Thank you so much again! See you soon!

  • A very cozy, clean place just off the main road. The accommodations were well equipped with any items we needed, extremely clean, and comfortable. It was easy to get our key from the little lockbox and the instructions were crystal clear. We made great use of the local suggestions while we visited. We were able to walk to enjoy a few local pubs, a beautiful church, local coffee shops, and an amazing little local market for food and snacks. Northleach was the quaint, quiet country town that we were looking for and it was very convenient to local attractions such as Sudeley Castle. I hope we are able to stay here again the next time we visit England and the countryside.

  • Absolutely stunning view, host and place to stay. Fruit, tea and the most heavenly view to wake up to. Kaye was a wonderfully attentive host and her place to stay was spotlessly clean. You MUST try the 2in1 pie pub ‘Weighbridge inn’ a great recommendation and the best pies we ever had. Heavenly stay.

    Rachel2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely long weekend in Kaye’s place - the view is even better in real life than in the photos and very tastefully decorated. The kitchen was well equipped and we were even left with delicious local apple juice, yoghurt, croissants and wild blueberry jam! Kaye’s recommendations for places to go were great - including thistledown farm which has a lovely cafe (amazing cakes and thali!) with beautiful views and woodchester park is a pretty walk. We would not hesitate at all to come back again and recommend to others

  • The cottage is beautiful. Has a lovely old feel but the way it’s been refurbished makes it feel new as well. Was lovely and warm. Couldn’t fault anything about it in any way. Martin was a great host, always quick to get back to me on the couple of occasions I needed to speak to him.

    Richard2020-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • We would highly recommend Asphodel Cottage. It is even more beautiful than in the pictures. We were staying for 2 nights on the way down to Cornwall for our honeymoon and it was the perfect romantic stop off on the way.

  • A beautiful, idyllic cottage. The perfect place to relax and take in the beautiful scenery. The cottage is ideally located to several places of interest and award winning eateries. The garden is absolutely beautiful and so incredibly peaceful. We loved the little touches waiting for us on arrival, the local produce basket, logs and kindling for the open fire and the most stunning roll top Bath. We can’t wait to visit again!

  • Amazing stay at the lodge in Woodchester Valley, we couldn’t have asked for more. The lodge is incredible, way better than even the pictures which are amazing. When we arrived there was a little treat for us, which just added to the experience. My fiancé and I want to come back in the summer, we just loved it so much. Thank you to Gail for all the recommendations too :)

  • Before I came I didnt noticed I have booked a modern wooden barn house adjacent to the vineyard. Staying here, you will see shining stars, the nice sunrise and sunset. Besides, the house is luxurious and simple, you can find everything you want. A pity is that I didnt get to try the wine. I will bring family and friends to visit this place again in the summer.

A little further, Tetbury has some wonderful antique shops and delicatessens to browse and the famous Highgrove Shop, which is well worth a visit. • Great host and great place! Rowena is very friendly and welcoming. Her place and the surrounding area is very beautiful and worth visiting.

    Dominik2020-04-13T00:00:00Z
  • Sweet little cottage in the countryside. Rowena is a great hostess -- quick to reply to any messages and full of advice and suggestions for things to do. There are good pubs within walking distance. Having a car is definitely a plus if you want to do much exploring in the area beyond the immediate fields, though, we managed without one. While most of our walks were cut short by flooded fields, it was nice to explore the area and great to come back to the cottage to warm up with tea, brownies, and a good foot soak.

    Brittany2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay ☺️

    Anthony2020-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • A delightful visit! The cottage was well appointed and spotlessly clean and comfortable. Rowena was a very pleasant and helpful host. The local area is quiet and beautiful but not too far away from amenities. This was a perfect, quiet, relaxing and comfortable stay and is highly recommended for those wanting a ‘getaway’ from the big cities.

    Ian2020-01-09T00:00:00Z
  • It was a lovely couple of nights stay that we had at Rowena’s place. The cottage was lovely and very cosy. Everyone on the estate was very friendly and we couldn’t ask for a better time!

    Sarah2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • We can highly recommend this place. Everything was perfect. We stayed there in December : The property was lovely and warm and I loved the fact that there was a bath with plenty of hot water: Great for after going on a hike across the fields. The homemade brownies were scrummy. The lodge is sparkling clean. As I have said, just perfect.

  • Mark was very quick at responding to my messages and was very helpful. The cottage is set on a farm with other cottages in lovely Cotswolds - nature at its best yet minutes away from beautiful Stow-on-the-Wold. Dogs and I had a delightful time. Would definitely consider returning. Thank you Mark.

  • A lovely Cottage, very cosy and well equipped. Mark met us when we arrived and we had no issues at all during the stay. The dogs loved the field at the back and the cottage is in a great location. Bed was very comfy, bathroom great and the living space was cosy. Would recommend to others.

  • Great spot and host! Weather was absolutely appalling (storm Ciara) but we didn’t feel it with the log burner and hot tub! Ideally situated to get to lots of places in the Cotswolds and beyond. The cabin itself is a little on the small side but as advertised. It has everything you need though and with better weather you wouldn’t notice as much. Would highly recommend overall.

    Gordon2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • We have just returned from the most beautiful experience at Jed’s Shed. Absolutely beautiful setting, clean and stylish accommodation and very friendly, helpful hosts! The views are AMAZING! Lovely and clean shower block with a nice warm shower! Very refreshing stepping out afterwards! The log burner keeps you nice and toasty even on the coldest of days, we even managed to make a pizza and cook it for our dinner! Very comfortable bed and lovely stylish finishes. The hot tub is an extra bonus! Absolute heaven sitting in there watching the stars in January! I didn’t want to leave!

Tanya was very helpful on my arrival and showed me how to used the fires/hot tub. It’s nice and private with lovely views of the country side. There are some good pubs nearby for food and drinks too, within walking distance. The accommodation was clean, stylish and had everything you need! I would definitely return here. Thank you Tanya

Stylish Shepherds Cabin in the heart of the Cotswolds. Free-standing full sized bath, king size bed, two seater sofa and great views. This is as good as camping in the woods gets, no electricity but hot water, plenty of candles and gas to cook on.
This romantic getaway has all you need for a weekend away or a short break. Less than 2 hours from London and an hour from Bristol the Shepherds Cabin is in the heart of the Cotswolds. At the head of the Slad valley, made famous by Laurie Lee's books, especially Cider with Rosie, this idyllic part of the world has changed little since his time. The walk to the Woolpack pub takes an hour and a half and takes you through an unspoilt valley with no houses or humans for the first hour. Or you can drive in 7 minutes. The cabin has hot and cold running water, NO ELECTRICITY, but plenty of candles and torches.
The Cotswolds are an internationally recognised Area of Outstanding Beauty and we are in the middle of it. Just a short walk from The Shepherd's Cabin is at the top of the Slad Valley, made famous in the book Cider with Rosie by Laurie Lee and explorable via a network of well maintained and signposted paths and tracks. The Gloucestershire wildlife trust has marked a set of paths and routes to celebrate the centenary of the famous writer's birth and most importantly the valley leads you down hill all the way to the Laurie's local pub; The Woolpack. A local institution, The Woolpack is a fantastic local pub in the traditional sense. Good food, great beer, quality locals and the odd fiddly diddly band to get things going. Stroud Farmer's Market is regularly recognised as the best in the country and is open every Saturday from 9-2. It is well worth a visit for some great local produce.
  • Brilliant stay, a lovely cabin perfect for 2 people. Very warm and cosy, some great dinners by candle light. The bath is perfect after a long walk, and beautiful views out of the windows. Make sure to come with wellies! Thank you Sarah for a great stay

    Izzy2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely time at Sarah & Rory's little place. It was exactly as expected - a little cabin overlooking fields, with friendly ponies sometimes saying hi as you walk by. There are many public paths in the area connecting different villages (and pubs!) - I loved our visit to Sheepscombe. The cabin has everything you'll need - the heating is keeps it warm, a bath (runs slow to fill, but they let you know when you check in), all necessary kitchen amenities, and biodegradable soap & shampoo. They also have a couple of booklet of recommendations of walks you can do in the nearby area.

    Hayyu2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely setting, great house Toilet is caravan/boat style so not amazing, but not a dealbreaker for us!

    Lachlan2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Came here for Valentines Day with my partner. Absolutely loved it! We did get the car stuck in the mud, but the next morning Rory came to help us push it out! It made for a funny morning, did not spoil the stay in the slightest. The cabin is very cosy and an extremely relaxing environment. Although we couldn’t get the heater to work on the last night, we had plenty of blankets and hot water bottles (that we didn’t even need- it was plenty warm) we still enjoyed a nice hot bath. We brought a little speaker with us to have some quiet music playing while we enjoyed the farm eggs left for us from Sarah! We only brought essentials, some groceries that we could cook on the little hob, and some drinks. Had a lovely visit from the horses too which was absolutely hilarious. Would recommend visiting the Fostons Ash and the Woolpack Pub nearby, both are incredible! Thanks so much to Sarah and Rory for our stay.

    Maisie2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a lovely stay here. If you want to have time away from the real world then this is the place! The bath is lovely and the view is great to wake up to. There are candles for the evenings which was so relaxing and everything you need is there. Just remember your wellies!

    Catherine2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah’s cabin was the perfect weekend getaway from London! There were initial issues with the heater which were sorted out immediately, and other than that the stay was hassle-free. So lovely getting back to basics with no electricity - we didn’t even notice this as the heater worked well as there was a gas stove to cook on. They also provided a cool box though being January we just used outside as a fridge! Really well stocked in terms of pots/pans/cutlery and we appreciated the scrabble/cards/jenga! Thank you also for leaving us some eggs. Cupboard stocked with basic such as tea/oil etc which was handy. Thanks so much!

    Demelza2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was perfect for a secluded retreat. With rain, wellies were a must and we did not have them (cautionary tale: bring them next time), but Rory and Sarah gave us a pair that made all the difference. And they helped us finding the right direction in the dark. The access drive is difficult to spot, so I really recommend to arrive with daylight. The cabin is small but perfect for two people, with a lot of small nice touches that made us feel very comfortable, from candles to eggs to books. We'll definitely be back.

We have two seating areas, a BBQ, lots of fairy lights Whatever you have in mind, we’re sure that we can provide the perfect base for it!
  • Had a great stay here. Everything you need was provided and clean. The highlight was sitting by the log burner in the evenings.

  • I had high expectations from the lovely pictures and listing, but it was even better in person! There were so many thoughtful touches (bird seeds for spreading, dog snacks, games, lotions, a variety of bath salts, etc.). It truly felt like home, if my home was a beyond charming 500 year-old cottage (rather than a colonial-style home in a 90s suburb). The bed and pillows were very comfortable, and I loved using the cute vanity to get ready each morning. The house was well-stocked in every area and surprisingly equipped with modern conveniences (dishwasher, washing machine and dryer, etc.) that blended pretty seamlessly. They did a great job with the design down to the smallest details (antique light switches, faucets and hardware, etc.) it was pretty easy to feel like you had been transported in time. You do need to be a little extra careful on the stairs, especially with kids, but there are decent hand rails and reminders on the wall to take them slowly. We came with two young kids and loved having a really nice playground, a library, lovely walking trails and shops just a short walk away. There is also a coffee shop a couple doors down with amazing brownies (not typically a chocolate fan) and a small farmers market on Wednesdays. Oh, and we really enjoyed lighting the fire at night (especially the first night when all we needed to do was drop a match on their perfectly prepared stack of wood and fire starters, lol). All in all, a wonderful trip. Wish we could have stayed longer!

  • Amazing place very rustic chic and cozy, went above and beyond my expectations. The village is lovely with pubs and shops near by. Only an hour from Bath and 10 mins from cotswolds so there are plenty of places to take to dogs If it's a dog holiday which it was for us. Definitely reccommend and will sure to be back.

Nothing says holidays like a hot tub. After dinner’s done and the night is but young, fire up the bubbles and watch the panoramic view of the sun setting over the lake from your private secure deck. This is just one of the magical moments you can experience whilst staying at Lapwing Lake Lodge. Perched on the water’s edge, Lapwing Lake Lodge is a chic New England-style retreat with plenty of room for six plus pooch. The pretty clapper board-style exterior and fantastic water-front setting make a brilliant first impression. The convenience of the location within steps of a family-friendly lakeside bar, brasserie, gym and a great children's play area come a close second. Located on Spring Lake, our lake house has prime position in the Cotswold Water Park, one of the best kept secrets of Gloucestershire! One of 150 lakes in an area the size of Jersey, there’s so much to explore and something for everyone. Wildlife, watersports, activities, great eateries, walking, history and culture are just some of the things you will find nearby.
The lake house itself has been stylishly renovated to mirror its setting, offering super lake views from inside and out. Downstairs, it’s fully open plan complemented by stunning bi-folding doors that stretch across the back of the house. They ensure the house is filled with calm and tranquil light whilst showing the lake off in all its charming glory. An ever changing picture of water-skiers, swans and rippling water can be enjoyed from the comfort of the sofa, or fold the doors back and the living area takes on a new and exciting feel. The outside space becomes an extension to the house, providing the perfect spot for sizzling steaks on the barbecue. Or simply sitting back to enjoy lakeside life while your own hot tub bubbles invitingly and watch the world go by. Upstairs there is a large master bedroom with a full length window overlooking the lake, allowing you the same stunning views, two further bedrooms and a family bathroom. Extra care has been taken for families, and you will find lots of special touches around the house if you are planning on taking the little ones. The light bright interiors with family-friendly luxuries are added bonuses, whilst the fact that there’s a spa, golf course, water sports centre, bike hire and routes, plus a choice of restaurants and pubs, within a short, scenic walk really sets it apart. Although, for most young families, the fact that the UK’s largest inland beach with a purpose built toddler paddling and playground area is within a 10-15 minute stroll is the icing on the cake. THE LAYOUT Ground floor: Open plan living space with sitting and dining areas seating six. Bifold doors open out onto a private deck with superb lake views. A U-shaped kitchen with breakfast bar and stools is set slightly apart from the living area. Shower room with WC First floor: Master bedroom with 5′ king size bed and a pretty Juliette balcony with amazing views over the lake. There is also room for a cot. Double bedroom with 4’6″ bed. Twin bedroom with 2’6″ beds which can convert into a kingsize bed. Family bathroom with a bath, overhead shower and children’s bathing accessories. IN A NUTSHELL 6 Guests Three bedrooms: two doubles, one twin/double One bathroom, one shower room Suitable for children and baby (cot, highchair and stairgate available) Up to two well-behaved dogs welcome on request (small additional fee applies*) Private secure deck onto lake with hot tub, table and chairs and barbecue Welcome hamper, linen and toiletries Surrounding shared outdoor space and children’s playground Bike hire with child seats/trailers can be pre-booked Spa, gym, golf course, water sports centre, bike hire and routes, plus a choice of restaurants and pubs on site Heavily discounted spa passes Parking for two cars EQUIPMENT Electric wall heaters Electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washer-dryer Flat screen TV with Freeview, DVD player WiFi internet access Private outdoor heated hot tub Outdoor dining furniture and barbecue
Along with its lakeside setting one of the house’s greatest assets is the amount that there is to see and do nearby for families and young children. Within a minute’s stroll is the Lakeside Brassiere which boasts a family friendly sports bar, a relaxed family restaurant with a sun terrace overlooking the lake. A fully air conditioned gym is located above the brasserie with a range of equipment. Should you be staying for a prolonged period a monthly membership can be purchased, but the gym also offers a highly reasonable single use fee option. Within 50 metres of the lodge is a large children’s play area with climbing frame, monkey bars and fireman pole. Lakeside Ski & Wake offer wakeboard and waterski lessons on the lake, plus sessions as well as fun rides for all the family on their ringos and other inflatables. These all prove irresistible to most families in the summer months, not least since thanks to a special skimmer board. From beginners to experts, everyone is welcome. Next to the house is a small shingle beach area popular with the little ones for paddling. From the deck you can feed swans and ducks that are very friendly, but far enough away to stop little ones from feeling intimidated. About a 5 minutes’ walk away, there’s a cable ski and a buzzing cafe bar reachable on pushchair friendly flat paths and roads. Located opposite Spring Lake is the South Cerney Outdoor Education Centre which offers sailing, canoeing, and paddle boarding activities and courses. Bike hire, angling and even the biggest inland beach in the UK are all within a mile or two. Located on the other side of the Spine Road, a 10 minute walk from Spring Lake, is Spa 6, one of the premier spas in the Cotswolds, located within the Four Pillars Cotswold Water Park Hotel. Treatments include: Volcanic Hot Stone Back Massage, “Indian Sandalwood” Soothing Scalp Massage and “Exotic Orange Blossom Ritual” Face and Body Treatment. Not forgetting of course, a state-of-the-art gymnasium and hydrotherapy pool. The house is also within walking distance to the local village of South Cerney which offers a number of local amenities including a selection of pubs, takeaways, village shops, post office and a hairdressers. Lapwing Lake Lodge is ideally situated too for exploring the towns and villages of the beautiful Cotswolds region. The well-known quintessential English villages of Stow-on-the-Wold, Bibury, Bourton-on-the-Water, and Moreton-in-the-Marsh, are all within easy reach and make a great day out. Cirencester known as ‘The Capital of the Cotswolds’, is 4 miles away, giving easy access to excellent shopping, restaurants, entertainment, ancient buildings and museums. Cheltenham (20 miles), the most complete regency town in England, is famous for its horse-racing festival in March, culminating in the Gold Cup steeplechase. At other times of year, Cheltenham hosts Festivals of Jazz, Classical Music, Science, Literature, Food & Drink. Highgrove House, one of the homes of Prince Charles, is less than half an hour’s drive as is Westonbirt Arboretum, with its stunning new treetop walkway, the longest in the UK. Appealing to children in particular, the nearby Cotswold Wildlife Park, the numerous attractions at Bourton-on-the-Water, and Cotswold Farm Park provide plentiful entertainment. The cities of Bath, Bristol, Cheltenham and Oxford are all under an hour’s drive away. Located just over an hour from London, it’s the ideal place for families or a group of friends to spend time together at any time of the year.
  • This property is very spacious with super underfloor heating an excellent location with an awesome view of the lake, our host Kevin arrived the same time as us, he was most pleasant and full of local knowledge, we were here with storm Denis and still had an awesome stay

    Ray2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had a brilliant weekend celebrating a big birthday. The hot tub was brilliant and so lovely to look out over such a wonderful view. Kevin was very friendly and helpful and offered tips on pubs and walking routes. The kitchen was well equipped and there was also a lovely fresh baguette, butter and eggs left for us. The two twin rooms are super small but for our weekend it was no problem. You would need to use the main master bedroom for all your clothing and luggage but this has lots of storage and lovely views over the lake. The lake house club next door we’re very friendly and helpful when we decided a last minute take away was needed! A brilliant bolt hole for a weekend with friends.

    Lara2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • The 6 of us had an absolutely amazing stay. The apartment is beautiful and spacious with gorgeous views onto the lake. The host Kevin was fantastic and extremely hospitable - he even fetched us when we weren’t able to get a taxi for which we are very grateful for - thanks Kevin. Thanks so much for a great stay! We thoroughly enjoyed it Will certainly return again.

  • Booked for my dad's 75th birthday - five of us, including a toddler. Clean, bright, sunny open-plan space was ideal for us all. The location is excellent - it's lovely to look out over the lake. Great communication from the start and super easy instructions on gaining access. And the hot tub was a great bonus on a damp October weekend.

    Suzanne2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Hi Kevin and team made our stay at Spring Lodge so much fun! We loved the property and the quality time spent in the Jacuzzi overlooking the lake. Special shout-out to Kevin for making us feel welcome and driving us to local attractions. You really made us feel welcome and went the extra mile when it comes to hospitality! Will definitely be staying at Lapwing Lodge again!!! Huge thanks!!!! Xx

The Old Farm Bed & Breakfast is located within the picturesque village of Ampney Crucis in the heart of the Cotswolds. This brand new, peaceful, self contained detached annex is in the grounds of the The Old Farm, a traditional cotswold stone house.
This brand new, peaceful, self contained detached annex is warm and cosy. It has a luxurious king size bed and a small wet room with a rain shower. The kitchen is equipped with a fridge, microwave, toaster and coffee and tea making facilities, including a nespresso machine. Please note that breakfast is self-service continental style taken in the annex.
We are extremely well located. Ampney Crucis is 3 miles from the busy market town of Cirencester, known as the Capital of the Cotswolds. Cirencester offers a farmers market, a selection of restaurants and is renowned for its boutique and art and craft shops. Ampney Crucis is just a short drive from the beautiful village of Bibury, as well as being within easy reach of Bourton on the Water, Lechlade and Burford. It is well located for various attractions such as Westonbirt Arboreatum, the Cotswold Wildlife Park as well as racing at Cheltenham.
  • It is such a lovely place to stay. The annexe is private and cosy. It was immaculate, very inviting and tidy. The surrounding area of Ampney Crucis is delightful too. Overall, I would highly recommend.

    Keith2020-03-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a super comfortable night, everything is really like the photos. The place is super nice, I would definitely go back to spend more time and get to know the place well. Thank you Fiona for your hospitality.

  • Amazing stay and hospitality. A rare find. Very cosy and private!

    Dexter2020-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • Fiona’s place was a perfect little spot to stay in by the Cotswolds, very nicely decorated and clean.

    Caroline2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely and stylish annexe near to the main house (but far away to be private). It has been decorated and equipped to a very standard. Amazingly comfortable bed, nice wet room and facilities for cooking (I wasn’t expecting a hob to be available so that was a pleasant surprise). Only met Fiona once, when I arrived and had difficulty finding the property in the dark and she appeared with a torch to show me in, but she stressed that I could call or visit the house if there was anything I needed - there wasn’t. Really relaxing stay and very close to the facilities available in Cirencester. Would absolutely recommend for a short stay in the Cotswolds. Thank you Fiona.

    Lucy2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean and nicely decorated with a lovely shower and a comfortable bed.

    Kailey2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Very beautiful and comfortable. The room was very warm as well which was great since it was freezing outside. We had a bit of trouble finding the place as google map took us to a different location (which Fiona had pointed out in advance) hence she had provided directions beforehand but since we arrived late and there were no street lights it was hard to tell what was what and we got lost anyway. It may help to arrive while it is still light out. Communication was great and the cereals and drinks were a plus:) Would highly recommend!!

    Eimi2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Just got back from a delightful stay - Fiona was a great host, with local tips (we really enjoyed our afternoon at The Crown of Crucis pub/restuarant) and great hospitality (fresh orange juice, milk and croissants were a treat). The space was impeccably clean, warm and cosy. Would highly recommend.

Charmingly renovated cottage, quintessentially Cotswold on the outside, calm and contemporary on the inside. Stunning handmade kitchen, fully equipped and boasting a beautiful AGA. The living room has a library feel, with huge squishy leather sofa, an Abu dance of books, TV, Wifi and digital radio. Upstairs the beamed bedroom space is cosy and romantic, with views of the gardens and surrounding countryside.
  • This cottage was such an amazing place to escape to. We felt very welcomed by the lovely Alan (and Ruby the dog!) and were left some amazing goodies to enjoy over the trip. The cottage was spotless and felt like a real treat to go back to after a day of exploring. We really enjoyed the hot tub too, even on a slightly drizzly day! (there is a roof above) Ideal for a relaxing get away for two, would highly recommend.

    Bethia2020-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at Allan's place. Lovely quiet cottage with a well equipped kitchen, comfy sofa and very cosy bedroom and ensuite. We made good use of the hot tub and sauna which were free to use at any time. We felt very welcome and enjoyed having a glass of wine with Allan on one of the evenings. Would also recommend a trip into Cirencester which is lovely and has a fair amount to see.

    Emily2020-03-12T00:00:00Z

    Oliver2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Photos do not do this place justice! We were overwhelmed with the cottage and it’s grounds. Allan and Ruby were incredible hosts and couldn’t have done any more! So many lovely extra touches such as fresh flowers, fresh bread and wine. Amazing stay and will definitely book to return again!

    Sarah2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Having read the other reviews before our visit I was very excited for our weekend away. The cottage 100% lived up to expectation and actually exceeded it. The cottage, house and surrounding grounds are beautiful and ell kept. The upgraded hot tub to the one in the photos was an awesome surprise. We didn't get to use the sauna, but a lovely facility that future guests are sure to make use of. Location was perfect for day tripping in the cotswold with pubs, restaurants and supermarkets all nearby. Overall an amazing spot tucked away in the beautiful Cotswolds. I hope we can make a return visit some day.

    Rebecca2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • 10/10. Absolutely brilliant beautiful cottage with amazing gardens (all fully secure so the dogs could roam free). Allan was an absolutely fantastic host who could not have been more welcoming. The cottage is gorgeous, sparkling clean and so cute and cosy. Can’t wait to come back.

In our beautiful Cotswold garden, wind up through the rockery to this sheltered hillside spot, with its very own private deck and seating area, offering gorgeous views to the surrounding village, nestled in idyllic countryside. This light and airy, but warm and cosy studio has a super comfortable kingsize bed, a desk and a separate stylish modern bathroom, a lovely deep bath, and a very efficient shower attachment if needed. You will be living under the eaves, so headspace is a little limited.
You are welcome to potter about our large garden.
We are just 2 minutes walk from the Seven Tuns Pub, which is a quintessential Cotswold country pub, with good food and roaring log fires - this is a great place to while away an afternoon or have an evening out without any need to drive. We are situated in the most beautiful countryside with miles of footpaths. We have a beautiful church and a Roman villa in the village and a farm shop that serves an all day ‘bottomless’ breakfast. Nearby Cirencester has great independent shops and a Waitrose. Also highly recommended for food is The Village Pub at Barnsley and The New Inn at Coln St Aldwyns. There is also a village taxi service, if you need a lift home. Needless to say, we are right on the doorstep of all the well known cotswold villages and beauty spots, so this is an excellent location from which to tour around.
  • We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful loft and Caroline was so lovely. Such a quiet and peaceful area but still so close everything - great base to explore the Cotswolds. Would definitely stay again!

  • Caroline’s place is a real delight. A picturesque setting with great views and places to explore. A great host from the moment she helped us locate which cottage was hers in the dark! The studio itself was lovely too, with lots of nice finishing touches. Would recommend taking a trip to the local pub, where we had a lovely pie and chips!

    Matt2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely relaxing space in the heart of the Cotswolds. Close to everything you need and with lovely family hosts. Great selection of pubs close by.

    Molly2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Just as perfect as the first time! Caroline's hospitality is second to none and we thoroughly enjoyed our second stay with her. Once again the room was very clean and had all the facilties you could need. We forgot how lovely the bath is and how comfortable the bed is, which led to an unplanned lie in - oops! Caroline and her husband had lots of suggestions for places to eat and visit in the area which was greatly appreciated. Communication was also very quick and there was always someone around if needed. We will be back very soon!

Set in the grounds of Kate and Richard's own home the cottage has been converted from a Georgian Barn it provides cosy, self contained accommodation, and offers couples the chance to share this wonderful area while enjoying the privacy of their own characterful cottage.
Whilst retaining the original beams and stonework Daisy's has a light, airy interior; stable door to the front and French doors to the private patio area at the back. The wonderfully equipped kitchen lacks nothing. Everything has been considered to make self-catering a joy. The cosy sitting room has a television and dvd player. The bathroom has a bath with over head shower, it also has a hand held shower attached to the taps, and a pretty window with views over the gardens of Meadow Barn. • Kate’s place is a dream, every detail has been thought about and catered for. The cottage and gardens are stunning and the chickens are the best looking in England! A delightful warm welcome. They have really made the place feel like a home from home. I can’t fault the experience, I highly recommend this stay. They made it hard to leave, I will be back soon. Thanks Kate for a wonderful stay.

  • We had a lovely long weekend break at Daisy’s Cottage. Kate greeted us on arrival and provided a few essentials for the coming days, including some yummy fresh eggs from her chickens. The cottage had everything we needed for a nice break, plenty of information on local attractions and a great pub a stones throw away. We look forward to returning at some point in the future!

  • Kate’s place was amazing! From the thoughtful touches of having delicious eggs from her chickens at check in to the beautiful grounds it was all I wanted in a Cotswolds holiday and more! Perfect spot for quick day trips as well as a comfy place to hibernate a bit if that’s what you are looking for. The town is small so it was great to just pop down for a walk when the sun would come out. All around a great time that we will never forget!

The south facing garden and terrace has many sitting areas to enjoy the stunning views The cottage has it's own wireless broadroad band and a selection of dvds, books, board games and even vinyl records if you fancy staying in.

  • HIGHLY recommended in this gorgeous area. We stayed for quite a few days and used this beautiful cottage as a base for our Cotswold experience. A large living space with comfy lounges, dining table and fully equipped kitchen. Bathroom and internal.laundry.Very quite with a beautiful fireplace to relax by after a hard days touring. Off street car parking with stunning gardens and the heating was on when we arrived. Plenty of subtle welcoming hints and considerations by the hosts. Thanks for having us and welcoming us with such warmth.

  • What a fantastic place! A lovely little bolt-hole set in the hills overlooking fields and stone walls. Wonderfully quiet with a great local pub (5-minute walk). Loved sifting through the records (some amazing random LPs in there!) and great info provided regarding lots of local walks!

  • A beautiful little place, ideal for exploring the Cotswolds. Loved the record player and fire!

  • Jen came out to greet us on arrival and asked if there was anything extra we wanted even though there was a keybox to let ourselves in. She has a beautiful holiday home and in this instance the pictures behold the truth! Peaceful, cosy and relaxing. Everything you could want is in this accommodation. It’s clean, everything works and things are set out perfectly. The views and scenery during our local hike were wonderful. Being able to shut out the BIG city and be in a private environment was important for us and Jen’s place made our time away together very special, thank you Jen.

  • Had a great stay here! Peaceful location with amazing views, so cosy and relaxed - would definitely stay here again

    Tina2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • The Summerhouse is a stunning place for a calm, relaxing break. We stayed for two nights and felt so at home, and wished we were staying longer. The place was immaculate on arrival and we loved that the guestbook had great advice on things to do/places to eat, and also the board games in the property too. On Jen's advice we went to Cirencester on our first day - really beautiful town - and had a delicious lunch at The Fleece Inn. We also had a great meal at The Lamb Inn nearby to the Summerhouse, and enjoyed a walk at Haresfield Beacon. We loved the stay and would definitely visit again.

An entire Self contained cotswold stone apartment. Located centrally in the beautiful village of South Cerney. Comprising of a double bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, large living and dining area. Lovely shared outdoor area.
Large Living and Dining area. Nicely decorated with stylish furniture. Lovely light and airy bedroom with plenty of clothes storage space. Bathroom with bath and shower. Fully equipped kitchen.
South Cerney is a fantastic Village. Beautiful countryside and walks. Plenty of lakes for all kinds of activities. 3 pubs, one great for food, one for families and the other for a party. There is also a shop, Post Office, pharmacy, fanastic Fish and Chip shop and curry house. Everything you need in an idilic location.
  • The Cottage at South Cerney is beautiful and the perfect home away from home. We had a longer stay due to being in between properties, and there was nothing that we didn't have. The cottage was warm and inviting from the moment we arrived and there were lots of thoughtful touches that made us feel really welcomed. The minibar is a great addition which we took advantage of when it was too wet to trundle to the shop. Most importantly the bed, linen, and pillows were super comfortable so we slept well during our stay. The courtyard garden is lovely and peaceful and the perfect place to hang out with a glass of wine in the early afternoon sunshine. There is a seemingly endless array of lovely walks in every direction from the house and plenty of exploring to be done along the old train routes. The village of South Cerney is beautiful with lots of chocolate box cottages covered in wisteria as well as the stunning lakes. Perfect place for a weekend of rambling or a longer stay to explore. We didn't really want to leave!

  • Amazing cottage in a great location to explore the Cotswolds. Laura has excellent communication and was so helpful in our trip. Having her as your host is like having a friend in the area you can ask for advice from. The cottage was immaculate, comfortable, and well designed. The bed's comfort got rave reviews from my wife! Would definitely book again!

Two adjoining private fishing lakes in the Cotswold Water Park surrounded by trees and grassy walks are the setting for this Architect designed very contemporary Lodge. Serious carp fishing and also a trout lake. Relaxing comfort in a beautiful park with great gastro pubs, shopping and exciting activities nearby. The Lodges are adults only, we don't accommodate children. Sorry, NO pets or smoking allowed on any premises also.
Little Horseshoe Lake is very well stocked with some famous carp which weigh in up to 40 lbs. Bring your own equipment or hire from the Tackle Den which is about a mile away. The trout lake has brown and rainbow trout. Experienced fishermen welcome or lessons through the Tackle Den.
The neighbourhood is full of lakes which were originally gravel pits. They have matured into a wonderful parkland and offer many activities. South Cerney is a very old village with 2 pubs and a few small shops. It dates back to the 10th century. Cirencester offers excellent shopping, markets, and good cafes and restaurants, also it has probably the best small museum in England and a magnificent Church. Within walking distance is the De Vere Hotel which has an attractive bar, restaurant and Spa.
  • Excellent house on the lake, brilliant place to relax

    George2020-04-04T00:00:00Z
  • The most peaceful place I have ever stayed with stunning scenery. Waking up when the sun rises and watching the stars at night. Nothing better for the soul then a few nights in this wonderful lodge. Unfortunately we didn’t get the explore the surrounding villages but luckily all you need is in this lodge, every detail is thought of from fresh flowers, blankets and even a cake to go with your morning coffee. We would love to return one day.

    Karen2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • This lodge is absolutely beautiful, wonderfully located and simply gorgeous! The space is immaculate, spacious and incredibly designed. We hardly wanted to leave and enjoyed relaxing by the fire when it was wet out. We stayed for the weekend and are longing to come again, thank you!

    Ronan2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Had an awesome stay, the lodge is both spacious and stylish. The check-in process was straightforward, communication was excellent throughout with plenty of local recommendations provided. Florina provided great hospitality by arranging candles and rose petals throughout the lodge - a great thoughtful touch! Thoroughly recommend to all, will definitely return.

    Sandeep2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This place was absolutely stunning! Incredible setting, stylish interior and spotlessly clean. Probably the most relaxing places we’ve ever stayed at. Will certainly recommend and visit again - worth every penny!

    Victoria2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • I booked the lodge as a surprise for mine and my husbands 2nd wedding anniversary! We were absolutely blown away from the moment we arrived. The Lodge is just breath takingly beautiful and in such wonderful surroundings. The serenity is unreal and just what we wanted I couldn’t have made a more perfect choice! The whole place was just immaculate from top to bottom. We had the Canadian geese and swans visit us every time we stepped out the door which was lovely. I enjoyed a glass of red by the log fire at night and a cuppa in the morning..... :-) The lodge had everything we needed for a long weekend. And looking forward to our next visit! I would absolutely recommend the lodge for a romantic getaway YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!

    Hayley Louise2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • This place is absolutely stunning, spotlessly clean, high standard little touches, and incredibly serene. It’s truly one of the most beautiful places to spend a quite weekend away. The lake is stunning paired with breathtaking sunsets. We were met with two beautiful swans, paired geese and an array of diverse wildlife everyday, we could not have asked for any more! Winter there is perfect and I’m sure summer would be extremely special too. Highly recommend! Thank you for a lovely stay.

    Jake Aiden2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • The Island Lodge is one of the most beautiful unique places we have ever stayed in, in the UK. We fell in love with the place! The lodge was spotless on arrival, and the interior is such an amazing spec. Sometimes pics can be deceiving, however the Island Lodge was even better than expected. Close by is the Gateway Cafe which does amazing food, and the lake it sits on is so peaceful and quiet, you can’t help but feel totally hidden away. A complete gem, anyone booking will be delighted I’m sure!

This is a beautiful space with stunning views over the fields towards stroud. It is very simply decorated inside with lovely oak beams and staircase. There is also a wood burning stove for extra warmth in the winter months. From the outside it almost looks like a swiss chalet, and upstairs on the mezzanine floor you will find traditional Japanese Tatami mats and futon beds. There are currently no kitchen facilities apart from a kettle, fridge and microwave.
The Annexe is clad in beautiful Larch wood which gives it a lovely warm glowing look, the floor, doors and stairs are all warm wood too. The Tatami mats and Futon beds are genuine traditional Japanese pieces.
The surrounding area is great for walking and cycling, not far from the town of stroud too which has an award winning farmers market every Saturday which has amazing local produce. Stroud is nestled in the 5 valleys in the heart of the Cotswolds with beautiful countryside all round.
  • Great place and great location, very clean and as expected!

  • Whilst storm Dennis did it’s best to dampen our spirits during our weekend away in the Cotswolds, the loggia was a lovely cosy refuge from the storm! Barbara has prepared the heating to be on before we arrived and the Loggia was very clean and comfy with all the appliances etc you could need. The location is great, close to so many beautiful villages and the proximity of the local pub the Wheatsheaf is fantastic! Dog friendly too and Frank loved the private enclosed garden space. Would love to come back in the sun!

  • Lovely little stylish hideaway - off the beaten track just the way we like it. The Stump for pizza and pasta and the yummiest garlic dip we’ve ever tasted in the world is just a few minutes away. Kate lit us a fire both nights and it was just right for our contemplative escape from our busy stressful lives. Thank you Kate!

    Kylie2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Kate’s place. The space is really stylish, clean and has everything you need. With the log burner and heaters it was super cosy and warm even in mid-feb! Despite being attached to the house there is a separate entrance to the studio so the whole area still felt nicely private. As shown in the description there is just a toaster, fridge, kettle and microwave but this was not a problem at all and we were kindly left milk, bread, condiments, tea, coffee and muesli for breakfast which was a really nice touch. We enjoyed two lovely meals at the Seven Tuns and at the Stump in the evenings - would highly recommend both! Thanks for a lovely stay!

The hayloft is very old but we have converted it into a 2 bed suite (one double bed & one big round bed on the mezzanine) with a 'shed bathroom' and a large lounge. It is on top of part of our own house (above the kitchen) but has a separate private entrance and a door onto the garden. There is no kitchen facility - think hotel rooms rather than self catering! It is right in the heart of the village a couple of hundred metres from good restaurants, ancient pubs and independent shops.
The space is large with high vaulted ceilings and exposed beams - it was originally a farm building - more recently a carpenters workshop. It is just under 1000sq foot. It is above the kitchen in our house but has its own entrance and is completely private with direct access to the garden. The rooms are open plan - one is at the end of a corridor and the other is the mezzanine floor of the lounge room. We have created a 'bathroom shed' to follow the contour of the roof which houses a lovely walk in shower as well as a basin and loo.
Nailsworth is a lovely little town. Lots of independent shops and cafes. WildGarlic, Hobbs House, The Olive Tree, The Canteen, Williams Kitchen. Really near beautiful commons and lots of walking, bike riding opportunities nearby. The Stroud area is also a real hub for the arts and attracts a lot of creative people as well as people interested in natural therapies and alternative lifestyles. Only a few miles from Tetbury and Stroud, 30 minutes to Cheltenham and 45 mins to Bath or Bristol.
  • We booked this weekend for something to looking forward too, with the view to try nice restaurants pubs, bars and explore in the Cotswolds! We arrived on 20.03.2020 the evening Boris Johnson announced all restaurants pubs clubs must be closed to prevent the spread of COVID19. This did not stop us having the most amazing relaxing weekend, thanks to Caroline & Dave..the Hayloft was incredible, the hospitality amazing (they even cooked us a roast dinner!) we felt so lucky in such difficult times! Above all...WE GOT ENGAGED, for this reason we cannot wait to return!!! HUGE HUGE thank you for making it so perfect!! :) Highly recommend..such genuine lovely people!!

Welcome to Bury Fields Cottage, brought to you exclusively by Character Cottages, local specialists in stylish, Cotswold holiday rentals. Bury Fields Cottage is a modern barn conversion and despite its rural appearance, the property is just a short walk from the centre of Bourton-on-the-Water, also known as the ‘Venice of the Cotswolds’, due to the River Windrush that flows peacefully though the village. Bourton has a wide range of traditional pubs, shops and restaurants and is surrounded by beautiful rolling countryside, and the many picturesque market towns and villages of the Cotswolds are all within easy reach, as are further afield places, such as Stratford-upon-Avon, Oxford and Bath. Important Customer Notice: - Special Events: Christmas, New Year and the Cheltenham Horse Racing Festival are Special Events, with bookings typically limited to weeks only from a specific start day If your dates don’t appear to fit, then please click Contact Host below to find out what options may exist for you!
Bury Fields Cottage is located off a farm track, just a short walk from the centre of Bourton-on-the-Water. The front door opens directly into the main living area and the following rooms: Living/dining room/galley: This bright and airy space provides a comfortable and sociable living area and contains a sofa, two bucket armchairs, electric flame effect fire and a wall-mounted Smart TV. The wooden dining table comfortably seats four. A staircase leads up from the living room to a gallery, with two large bean bags, two wicker chairs and a bookcase with a selection of books and games; Kitchen: This space has been thoughtfully designed and features an electric oven with four-ring induction hob, a dishwasher, fridge/freezer, kettle, microwave, toaster and filter coffee machine; Master bedroom: This room contains either a super king size bed or two single beds, and a combined chest of drawers and wardrobe; Bedroom 2: Another lovely room featuring a double wooden bed and a built-in cupboard; Family bathroom: Contains a walk-in rain shower with handheld shower attachment, toilet, wash basin and heated towel rail; Utility cupboard: Contains a washing machine/tumble dryer. Outside the front of the property there is a lovely decking area for guests to enjoy, surrounded by beautiful planters this area contains comfortable chairs, a sun parasol and a gas barbecue, as well as an outdoor table-tennis table. A safe, locked storage facility is also provided for guests who are keen cyclists. There is space on the driveway at the front of the property for up to four cars.

  • We came for a weekend stay, prior to this we said we probably would need a late check in so Linda left the key on the table for us. Upon arriving there were some little jams, milk in the fridge and some chocolate bars which was a lovely touch. Communication was great, Linda told us some lovely places to see and eat. The cabin itself is so cute and cosy and was just what we wanted, the horse fields surrounding it was amazing, waking up and looking out the window to horses was so lovely. It’s about an 8 minute drive to a lovely village with plenty of places to eat however you have a hob and microwave you can cook in. Highly recommend this place. I saw Linda before leaving and she showed me the horses in the stable after learning I was horse mad.

    Tasha2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second stay at the hut and we enjoyed it just as much as the first time round. Great location and beautiful grounds. Thanks very much to Linda for a very enjoyable stay!

  • We had a lovely time in Naunton, the cabin is super cute and the local pub (the black horse) had amazing staff and food. All the local horse trainers drink in their too so if that's your thing, and maybe want to pick up tip or too this is the spot for you!
