Salaioli Hamlet - Farm Holidays

A dream come true Reverse course from city to country. The farmhouse Borgo de 'Salaioli situated on the ancient salt route, through the hills of Maremma, leading from Scansano (6 miles) at the sea of Argentario (22 km). Scansano is a few kilometers from the city of Grosseto (35), the thermal baths of Saturnia (17), Etruscan excavations of Sovana (35) and Roselle (35). Nearby vineyards and olive groves, Roman and Etruscan ruins, medieval villages perched on hills. The farm several recently restored stone cottages, built in the nineteenth century to compose a small village, currently composed of four large rooms with three or four beds, each in a stand-alone buildings, an apartment, a kitchen available to the rooms, a large garden with a covered pergola with barbecue, as well as the dwelling of the owner. Borgo de 'Salaioli was born in 1980 from the dream of Arrigo and Furica (and later our son Giacomo) to start a life together, escaping the fast pace of the city and trying to build a structure in balance with nature, respecting culture and traditions of Tuscan architecture. In 1996 the farm was born not only as a means to enhance the existing and no longer used buildings, but also to share with other people the culture and lifestyle of Tuscany and the Maremma, which can not be appreciated with a modern holiday hit and run, but require a slower tempo. The climate is always tempered by the proximity of the sea, is characterized by cool and breezy summers and mild winters with moderate rainfall and makes the land incredibly suitable for the vineyard and the production of the famous red wine Morellino.

Our stay turned out to be better than we could have expected, Chiara was available and attentive to all our needs from the beginning. The room had impeccable cleanliness and the airbnb is immersed in nature, surrounded by cows, horses, cats and other animals that help make your stay in the Tuscan countryside even more relaxing. The breakfast is exceptional: plentiful and with lots of homemade products (the best pear jam we've ever tasted!). We recommend it to everyone and as soon as we have the opportunity to return to Tuscany, we will be sure where to stay! Thanks again to the hosts for how they made us feel during our vacation =)

The place on the outside definitely looks different (outdated in some parts) from pictures, but they were very welcoming and the area is so peaceful. When we arrived in our room there was a book full of recommendations about things to do and restaurants which was very helpful. The room was very beautiful and spacious. The service was wonderful. We didn’t try the restaurant because we stayed for a short time but hopefully will do that next time :) …

the B&B is in a great location, close to many amenities. The room, along with the whole structure, was beautiful, with large balcony and very clean. All cared for and tidy. the host was super kind and helpful! What about breakfast, great!!

We had a wonderful time staying at Annalisa's place in Montalcino. The rooms are clean, spacious, and functional. Montalcino is a charming Tuscan hillside town and a great home base for exploring southern Tuscany (we visited San Gimignano, Pienza, and San Quirico d'Orcia over the course of two days). Annalisa's tips for places to eat in and around Montalcino were perfect -- our meal on the first night was at a low-key, family-run place (Porta de Cassero) and it ended up being one of our favorite meals of our entire trip. Be sure to take a tour at the winery where she works (Costanti) -- beautiful vineyards, a chance to explore the cellars, and delicious Brunello di Montalcino to taste and buy. Annalisa and her team repeatedly went above and beyond in terms of service. We had a bit of trouble finding the place (not her fault -- she had provided detailed, turn-by-turn directions, but we mistakenly put our faith in Google), and she ended up driving up to where we parked and then had us follow her back through the narrow streets. So appreciated!

We booked this for our wedding photographer and she had an amazing stay. Not very responsive however as we’d asked for some local information a few days before and never received a response.

Beautiful surroundings, unique accommodations. Our plane into Rome was unfortunately very late so we missed being able to enjoy the afternoon there, but the host was very accommodating when we had to arrive outside of the normal check-in times. We woke up to a beautiful peaceful view. Breakfast served to us at the tent was a nice touch. Hosts were extremely welcoming. Highly recommend!!
