Mountain Vistas!

DanaRating, 5 stars4 weeks ago
Veldean's place was great. Everything was super clean, and everything needed for a comfortable stay was there. Veldean and her husband helped us find the house when we couldn't follow directions, and they were super sweet about it. They were available if we had any needs. The beds were comfortable, and there were spare pillows and blankets for if you're cold. If you aren't used to stairs, they're a bit rough on the first day, but we adjusted fairly quickly. Victor is the most beautiful place I've ever been. The town is walkable. The people are friendly. The views are amazing.

The Vindicator Cabin was absolutely gorgeous and exceeded our expectations. It was plenty big enough to fit our large family for a small vacation away from the city.

The Cabin at Black Eagle Ranch

JesseRating, 5 stars3 months ago
We had an amazing time for 3 nights at Black eagle ranch! We had fun walking around in the 3 feet of snow on the enormous property. We came with 4 adults and 1 child to go to the ice castles and check out ice fest. We loved how easy it was to get to and from cripple creek. Karen was super responsive and very kind to us. Her checkout process was especially nice since we had so many people and a child. Everything was definitely worth the price and would love to come back again.

Star Canyon Lodge

Staying at Tammy’s home in Florissant was an absolute dream! From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed, comfortable, and completely at peace. The house itself is spotless, beautifully decorated, and thoughtfully stocked with everything you could possibly need – from cozy blankets to a well-equipped kitchen and even little extras that made our stay extra special. The location is breathtaking – nestled in the serene Colorado mountains, it’s the perfect mix of peaceful seclusion and easy access to nearby sights like Mueller State Park, Florissant Fossil Beds, and Cripple Creek. Waking up to mountain views and sipping coffee on the deck while watching deer pass by was pure magic. Tammy was an outstanding host: kind, responsive, and clearly passionate about making sure her guests have an unforgettable experience. It truly felt like a home away from home, with a warm and welcoming energy that made it hard to leave.
A cozy loft area features angled wooden walls accented with varying hues. Two plush bean bag chairs are positioned invitingly, alongside a small vintage trunk. A warm light fixture illuminates the space, which overlooks the staircase leading down.

Log Cabin near Cripple Creek, Hot Tub and Views!

KaceyRating, 5 stars2 months ago
We came here to celebrate our dad’s 70th birthday. The hot tub and the views were both the highlights of the trip. We played pool and cooked an amazing birthday dinner in the well-stocked kitchen. Hosts were very responsive and their maintenance guy was extremely helpful in helping us get our vehicles the remainder of the way up the driveway in the morning, since we had gotten a ton of snow right before arriving and couldn’t make it all the way up in the dark. Hosts were awesome at helping us problem solve and were very understanding as well. A beautiful property, and friendly, helpful hosts.

Secluded Stargazing Cabin | Ski Resorts Within 2hr

KyraRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
This stay was fantastic! My husband and I drove here all the way from Florida for our honeymoon. The area is gorgeous, overlooking a vast forest and the mountains. It was a very peaceful and quiet stay. About a 25 min drive to woodland park. And the cabin itself is so cute! The kitchen is stocked with seasonings, cooking oil, and anything else you could need. The only thing I’d advise is to bring a humidifier, as the air is very dry and cold. It was a lifesaver for our allergies and helped prevent nosebleeds. It will also minimize the little electric zaps you experience from being in a drier, colder climate. Of course this is just an aspect of Colorado, no fault of the Airbnb. Alec was such a friendly and communicative host, from start to finish. I highly recommend!

Your guide to Cripple Creek

All About Cripple Creek

Located at the foot of Pikes Peak mountain, Cripple Creek is a former gold-mining camp that was once filled with prospectors hoping to strike it rich in the Colorado Hills. Just 30 minutes west of Colorado Springs, the city and its surrounding area received National Historic status for its heritage in 1961, and today it draws travelers looking to take a step back into that bygone era. Downtown still has an Old West feel to it, with late-19th-century brick and stone buildings housing steakhouses and Western apparel shops; you may even spot some of the friendly donkeys that have been roaming the streets since the mining days.

One way to see the sights is to hop a ride on the vintage railroad that circles Cripple Creek. The region is also home to countless trails and tracks for hikers and mountain bikers to enjoy, with something for every skill level. Just outside of Cripple Creek is the Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument, where you’ll see petrified redwood stumps that are up to 14 feet wide, as well as fossils of insects and plants that hark back to prehistoric Colorado.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Cripple Creek

For outdoor enthusiasts, Cripple Creek is at its best in the summer, when temperatures are mild. Victor Museum also runs tours throughout the summer, where you can learn about the gold rush and see its sites. Cripple Creek is particularly stunning in the fall, when the aspen trees turn golden and the air is crisp. Winters here are snowy and windy, with temperatures that often dip below freezing. February’s Ice Festival takes advantage of the cold weather by running an ice-carving contest and serving up food, drinks, and live music, alongside an ice maze and an ice slide.

Top things to do in Cripple Creek

The Donkeys

Cripple Creek’s donkey population was once essential to the mining community, carrying miners and equipment back and forth along the mountain trails and through the mining tunnels. Today, the donkeys are beloved and protected by locals, and free to roam the town’s streets from mid-May to mid-October.

Pikes Peak

The 14,000-foot summit of Pikes Peak can be accessed by two hiking trails. The 13-mile Barr Trail is popular for its challenging ascent and beautiful views, while the 6.5-mile Crags Trail also offers excellent views but is generally less crowded. Either way, it’s a challenging hike to the top, but well worth it for the vistas at the summit and along the trail.

Gold Belt Tour

Along the National Scenic Byway, the Gold Belt Tour allows you the chance to experience the historic travel routes that connect Cripple Creek to the Victor Mining District, which was the site of the world’s largest gold rush. The scenery along these roads includes rocky canyons and dramatic mountain parklands. There are more gold mining towns to stop at along the way with restaurants, shops, and historic buildings.
