Ski-in/Ski-out vacation rentals in Appalachian Mountains

This place is truly unique. It's a get away space for musicians who share it when they aren't using it. The place has been built up and settled in. It's gorgeous, the location and the barn architecture. But it's not uptight. It feels like late 60s - early 70s rock and roll, or like classic country music. Maddy's family has a phenomenal record collection and the stereo sounds SO good. The albums we brought came to life there. There's also an excellent book collection, lots of rock and music stuff but also philosophy, literature, eco books, and classic kids book (lots of kids books and a massive toy trunk with toys for kids of all ages!). The kitchen has got pretty much everything you need, and all the basic amenities and appliances. Around about are lots of area lamps, interesting hangings, colored glass, rugs, throws, and well cared for house plants. Finally, the pond and field have not been chemical killed. So, there are lots of birds, frogs, fish, and nests.

This was our family’s first ever Lake Vacation and it did not disappoint. The view was spectacular. You are close to Smith Lake Marina if you want to rent a boat or jet ski. There are quaint restaurants close by and always a Dollar General. The home was just as Dave described. We loved having the golf cart to go to the dock. Dave was very helpful and always responsive. We hope to be back in Sept. for fall break. Thank you Dave for opening up your home away from home for my family and I to make new memories.

Beautiful view in a great location at Lake Gaston. Comfortable, clean, and had everything we needed. Jacob is a great, responsive host. Would absolutely stay here again!

This spot was excellent for my group. There were plenty of comfortable sleeping options for everyone and the space was even more spacious than expected. We also enjoyed the views and peaceful surroundings of the pond. Tyler was able to accommodate a late checkout as well, which was greatly appreciated.

Lovely home in a lovely setting. The view is breathtaking and Barbara has outfitted the space woth everything you could possibly need. She is extremely thoughtful and personable. The area is great for hiking and outdoor activities but is also near Middlebury College and Burlington.

We enjoyed our stay. She has a very kept place that was super clean. Enjoyed the peace and quiet of nature but close to town to do fun activities. We also found great food and coffee places nearby. Would totally recommend staying with Renee

We had a lovely couple days celebrating our anniversary. James’s place was a perfect home-base for exploring Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. It was private but still fairly close to things. The space was clean, and all basics were provided. We would recommend this place to others.

Lisa was an amazing host! The cabin is very well kept and has everything you could need. Beautiful mountain view too! I went for a week of hiking and Lisa’s son left me a whole page length note telling me about great hiking trails around the area and accurate details on how to get there. Great recommendations too! Will definitely stay here again if I return to this area.

T’s place was absolute perfection! It was beautiful, tastefully decorated and the homemade muffins and cookies were amazing! She and John were so lovely and accommodating. Relaxing on the dock on the river was a sublime experience as well! I really can’t say enough about my time spent there and if I’m ever in the area again I will definitely be staying at T’s! Why would you stay anywhere else!?

Great place to stay if you're in the area. we wanted to see the Flight 93 Memorial and this was the perfect stop. It was just over night so we didn't have time for a farm tour but I did see a bison! Roger is friendly and a wonderful host. Having a washer was great since we were on a road trip.

This is our second year at Leslie's cabin, a group of us that found this as a middle ground to meet. It's secluded but close enough to so much to do! We had coffee on the porch every morning, listening to the rain. We explored the farmer's market, hiked, found great food, and just had an incredible time overall. Leslie is responsive and helpful and keeps a great place!

Kathy's cabin on the lake is the most magical place - quiet, peaceful and beautiful, the log cabin a throwback to an earlier time (but with great wifi). We sat on the dock with coffee and listened to the sound of loons out on the water. Kathy is also a great host. We will be back (we have actually stayed here a number of times because it's really the most lovely).

I stayed at Angela’s yurt for Memorial Day weekend. It was exactly as described. My boyfriend and I had a very peaceful long weekend. The space was cozy and adorable and we especially loved the wood burning stove. Was a great stay, would definitely return and highly recommend.

Charming, cozy cabin in the most peaceful setting. The river, the swing, outside table and chairs to enjoy breakfast and dinner on the deck just made it an even more wonderful stay. All the amenities you need and then some and just a short drive into town for dining, shopping, sightseeing and more. The cabin is inviting upon arrival and Theresa is very responsive. We would love to stay here again!

We came up for a few nights to elope in the mountains with our two dogs. Meghan was so accommodating. This is our second time at this cabin but plan on making this our go to vacation spot when we come to Lake Placid!

The whole trip was fantastic and Jonathan was a great host, answering all of our questions with speedy responses and having the cabin stuffed with board games, extra blankets, and even a little stash of good coffee in the freezer. Thank you again for an amazing time!

Very nice weekend in this little rustic cottage, everything was present as described. It's super quiet, easy to cook. The small outdoor shower is convenient although cold at this time but you should expect it. I suggest a curtain or a canvas for the large window in front of the beds, simply because it is currently very bright in the morning! Also, don't forget your mosquito repellent and coils depending on the season, we had few mosquitoes on the hike and outside but they seemed to want to enter the cabin at all costs, and in large groups. We used tactics. Maybe the door could be better sealed! We highly recommend the place for the calm, the cleanliness, the lack of network that does you good!

We had such a relaxing and peaceful stay! The bed was comfortable, the view was beautiful, and the kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed. We were pleasantly surprised to find paper towels, toilet paper, snacks, coffee, and other essentials provided, something most cabins don’t include. Place felt like home. Kitchen was super clean and so were bathrooms. Jacuzzi, game room and sauna were my favorite part of the place. Most definitely coming back in the future.

I think the lake got jealous of how much we loved the house. The views? Spectacular. The vibe? Pure dream home energy. We spent our days rock hunting, sipping coffee with million-dollar views, and pretending we lived there full-time. (We even tried to come up with excuses to “accidentally” extend our stay... like maybe we lost the keys... to our car... forever.) Truly the perfect Lake Superior getaway. This place captured our hearts and we left behind a couple Yooperlites in the garden. 💙

We had an amazing stay at the cabin! Carly gave a great list of recommendations and was very responsive. There was so much to do in the area to keep us busy we didn’t turn the tv on for the entire week. The area was peaceful and private, the view beautiful, and the hot tub was a plus. We also enjoyed all the games available for us to play! We would definitely recommend and stay here again!
