Quaint and peaceful place perfect for a long weekend gateway! Alicia is a very responsive host that quickly addressed a couple of minor issues at check-in. We ate a couple of times at the golf club’s restaurant nearby (~10min away, good food) and ordered in from a local pizzeria for our last night at the lodge (Alessandro’s). Highly recommend this place.

We absolutely loved our stay here! It is quiet, peaceful and has a beautiful river flowing behind the house with a tree swing. We enjoyed our coffee on the screened-in porch watching the ducks swim around in the river with their babies. If you have a student at W&L or VMI, this is a perfect location! Our daughter just graduated from W&L. I wish I would have discovered this gem sooner!

We were looking for a cabin, hoping to find a quiet place to rest, relax and recharge in nature. We never dreamed that we would find an authentic 18th century cabin located in the forest on a mountain top - with an excellent view of the surrounding mountains. The inside of the cabin was beautifully furnished as would be expected in colonial Virginia. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend the experience of stepping back in time.

This place was exactly what we needed to get away for the weekend. Elise went above and beyond with her list of nearby recommendations and property details. We met her twice and she was so kind, and we were lucky to meet her sweet dog George and sweet barn cat Mosby. We cannot wait to come back!

This place in the mountains is BEAUTIFUL! I wanted to stay longer. I was there for my graduation from Liberty University. It was about an hour away, but it worked for me because the property was large enough to house all of my family and friends. Jennifer was VERY responsive. The kitchen was amazing. There is a Food Lion about 6 minutes away down the hill, and restaurants. My grandsons and niece loved the outdoor play area. My husband loved the fire pit. I loved sitting on the porch on the swing. My boyfriend and I came out here looking for a place to disconnect and Heartrock was the perfect place! Greg gave us a great hiking recommendation to Fortune’s Cove and Kim was so helpful and responsive. The place was so nice and the scenery was lovely. Bilbo the cat was even more friendly than we imagined and we enjoyed hanging with him. We did prep our own breakfast and dinner before arriving just due to the smaller kitchen but it had everything we needed. We took a stroll around the property and it was lovely. The water pressure here is also great. Overall, we had a great time and would definitely come back.

May 20, 2025- May 25, 2025 What a wonderful escape! Coming from the fast pace life in Florida, this charming Virginia farmhouse was the perfect retreat. We thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful weather, peaceful scenery, and all the wildlife that surrounded us. The hot tub was an amazing bonus just what we needed to unwind. One funny surprise there’s a motion sensor sprinkler outback that gave us quite the wake up-Call when we got too close-Definitely a memorable moment! This stay was everything we hoped for and more. The owners were kind enough to bring us flowers because part of our trip was due to a recent loss in the family the extra thought truly meant a lot. This location at SML is great! Its close to everything including the water. I spent most of my evenings during my stay sitting on the dock and just enjoying the quiet and the scenery. If you have the opportunity, I highly recommend renting a boat and just relaxing on the water. This was a great and complaint free experience.

We had the absolute best time. This little place is so beautiful and so peaceful. My Mom and I had a great girls trip with my Yellow lab. The beds were comfortable, there was everything you could need in the kitchen. We loved the cute personal touches Pat left. The dog bowls came in handy as I forgot mine, and he enjoyed the toys and playing fetch in the pasture. Thank you so much for a relaxing stay. We will be repeat customers for sure.

A small group of friends and I stayed at Anne’s place for our best friends wedding. Needless to say, this was the perfect spot. Anne’s place was utterly beautiful and peaceful. The house was so cozy and quaint, the family photos on the wall that depicted the home from a different generation made our stay that much more special. We felt so at home and it was the perfect place to unwind and celebrate our friend. Anne went above and beyond by providing us with fresh eggs, juices, and a variety of other breakfast items. Cooking in the rustic kitchen was hands down our favorite part! 10/10 would recommend staying at Anne’s place!

This is a hidden gem. I am so glad I found this, really because it’s close to a friend of mines house. I enjoy peaceful, low people places and clean air and surroundings. The best is making coffee, and sitting outside on the porch. Heck! I need to go back, and stay longer. And the animals.

It was a great experience overall. Host was very helpful and place was a piece of beauty. We had 3+ hours of power outage due to weather conditions. Host was very helpful during that time. I wish there was a standby back up during the power outage. Overall, me and my family loved the place.

We had an absolutely amazing time at this stunning little cabin! Although the cabin is rather rustic, the views are spectacular and the privacy makes you feel like you’re in your own world. Would stay again!

This Airbnb is in an absolutely stunning location. We stayed here for my daughter‘s graduation from Virginia Tech and it’s a 30 minute drive from campus. It is down some windy mountain roads, but the views are spectacular. The apartment is exactly as described; everything was clean and comfortable. I highly recommend this apartment.The host was super responsive and if we are ever back in the area, we would definitely stay here again.

Been quite a few spots on Airnb. Catherine and Shawn are truly the best host I have experienced….and not even close. They enjoy sharing their slice of heaven to those who appreciate all it has to offer. Gorgeous property to get out and explore and take it all in .It’s a trip my son and I always look forward to.

This place is absolutely gorgeous! My friends and I loved the hot tub and pool while listening to the sounds of the creek running close by. Such a cool fun place.

Great location at Bernard’s Landing - right next to the club house with the pool and other amenities. Very large space that could easily accommodate 4 couples. Would definitely stay here again!

The view from the condo was stunning and beautiful, just like John’s photos online. The detailed directions and descriptions were very accurate. John welcomed us during check-in and thanked us when we left. It would be nice to have screens on the sliding glass door. Definitely would consider staying there in the future!
