Staying at Castello Macchiaroli was truly one of the most unforgettable experiences of our entire trip to Italy. The castle itself is breathtaking—steeped in over a thousand years of history, yet so warm and welcoming that it instantly felt like home. Gisella was a wonderful host—so kind, thoughtful, and easy to communicate with. And Paola… what a gem! Her private tour through the castle was fascinating, personal, and full of charm. Exploring ancient tunnels and seeing the castle’s legacy was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Relaxing by the fireplace, surrounded by history, was nothing short of magical. We left feeling like we’d stepped inside a fairytale. If you’re looking for something truly unique and soul-stirring, this is it. We were guests of Claudio and Giuseppina for only one night, but we had a really great time, everything was perfect, from the moment we arrived at the property to when we left, the welcome was excellent, Giuseppina also gave us information on things to visit in the area, showed us everything that was available in the house and was extremely helpful for any need (for the breakfast the next day she asked us what we wanted and since I am celiac she prepared a really good gluten-free apple cake); The apartment was as in the photos, clean, tidy, spacious and really well maintained, there was every kind of appliance that could also be used for a longer stay, in fact as soon as possible we will definitely return for a longer period, perhaps in the winter period.

5 stars is not enough for Caterina as a host, she is the kindest host on the planet. She met us at the gas station in pouring rain, and low cloud, and showed us the apartment nearby. She provided warm coats (!) and a heater as it was particularly cold. There was home baked cake and cupboards full of food, unbelievable for the price. The apartment occupies the lower 2 floors of a 5 storey house. Caterina lives above and is available if any help is needed. The apartment has its own entrance and parking. The photos and description are accurate. The entrance hall is huge, and the dining, living and kitchen areas are large. The bedroom too is large with a double bed and 2 single beds. By contrast, the bathroom is small but it has all that you need (shower, washbasin, toilet and bidet). There are interesting artworks and photos throughout the apartment Laurino is a small, quiet place, and not very touristy - exactly what we like. The Cilento National Park has much to offer. This is a beautiful property with breathtaking views. Grazia was a super friendly host with great communication and she went above and beyond, offering us plenty of local recommendations too. I’d really recommend people experience staying here!
