Cob Cottage

Channel the pursuit of pause in this one-of-a-kind earth house. The cozy retreat was hand-sculpted using local and sustainable natural materials, and features a central living space with cantilevered slab stairs leading to the loft bedroom. Guests have access to the entire cottage and surrounding property. We live in the neighbouring house, and are happy to give advice or answer questions to help you make the most of your stay. The neighborhood is quite rural and mostly agricultural with several farms and a small private vineyard. The home is a 10 minute walk from the beach and a 20 minute walk from a family grocery and deli specializing in local organic produce. Mayne Island has a small community bus. Times and routes are limited, particularly in the winter. It will stop at the driveway. We also have an official hitch hiking system with signed Car Stops where you can wait for a ride. Usually you don't have to wait long. We are happy to offer pickup and drop off at the ferry dock as a courtesy to encourage car-free travellers, on days when the community bus is not running. Please let us know ahead of time that you'll be coming without your own transportation, and we will make sure that either we or the community bus (which will drop you off at our driveway) are there to meet you when your ferry arrives. The BC Ferries terminals near Victoria and Vancouver are easily reachable via public transit from their respective airports and downtowns.

Located 2 min, from the Transcanada Trail, 20 min. walk to the Kinsol Trestle, a World Heritage Site with beautiful swimming holes right underneath the bridge. 20 min. to next Grocery store and 22-25 min to Duncan. Comfortable one bedroom cottage with sun-room (in the winter months it is very pleasant on a sunny day, allowing you to relax after a day of exploring the island). There is also a back patio with a great view overlooking the lower pasture and wetland. BBQ and comfortable outdoor furniture. On a hot day the patio offers good shade. It comfortably fits two and is centrally located. An easy 15 minute drive to most attractions. Dog friendly with pet fee (please reach out if you have questions).

Everything was absolutely perfect — from the cleanliness to the thoughtful amenities, even the blankets and towels were spotless and cozy. We were beyond satisfied and truly enjoyed every moment of our stay. It was a 100/10 experience! The host was incredibly friendly and welcoming, making the place feel just like home. Communication was excellent throughout. Even the puppy came to greet us, which made it extra special! The location is ideal — very close to charming cafés and some great restaurants, yet tucked away in a peaceful setting. We loved waking up to the sounds of birds and listening to the rain from time to time. The shower area and sauna were our favorite highlights — absolutely relaxing and beautifully set up. The calming music added the perfect finishing touch. Highly recommended! We’d love to come back again!

Absolutely perfect!! The views from every room were breathtaking and having access to the private beach was a nice way to wind down in the evenings. Dan and Sam were a pleasure as well, super easy to communicate with and proactive in letting us know where was a potential issue with power (everyone turned out fine!). Also enjoyed a few close hiking trails and some yummy food. Overall, a perfect place to have a mix of being active in nature with relaxing and unwinding. Would love to stay here again!

The bus was incredible! Great central location on the island. It had everything we could possibly need. Beautiful coffee & herbal teas, comfortable bed, quiet & peaceful. We also really enjoyed the throw-back to our childhood with the Super Nintendo. Next time that we find ourselves on the way to Saturna, we will be looking to stay in the bus again!

Gorgeous location, views are unbeatable. Such a lovely space, every member of the family read in the window seat at some point. Making breakfast and watching for the native otters to come play was a daily treat. The deck is massive and such a lovely vantage point of the harbor. So many critters to watch. Absolutely loved this home. We had 2 kids under 7 and they felt right at home with the stuffy toys and kids room with 2 single beds+. The house is about 5 min from the ferry and about 20-25 min from Eastsound - beautiful drive with lots of farm stands along the way.

Waterfront Beach Escape with Dock

The house is just like the pictures. It’s very well kept. The kitchen has every thing a chefs kitchen is supposed to have. We were there in winter so the heat was important for us. The house is well heated. Washer dryer works well. This office is nice and cozy. The private dock is nice for fishing and crabbing. Thomas the host was very responsive and took care of minor issues promptly. I would definitely like to be back there.

"Glamping" Farm Stay at Sweet Earth Farm (Cedar)

We loved every minute of our stay! It was a relaxing and beautiful getaway. The bed was very comfortable - at 6 months pregnant, I had no trouble getting adequate rest here. Amanda was very responsive and was able to accommodate an early check-in when we found there was only a 6am ferry available by the time we got around to reserving! Elaine was also very friendly and able to assist with any questions. The camping spot next door was a bit closer than I imagined - there is a good amount of vegetation screening between the two, but you don’t feel completely ‘hidden’ - and the outhouse was a short walk away, past that neighboring campsite. It was kept very clean, which is the important part! 10/10 we would absolutely stay here again.
