Barn vacation rentals in Shenandoah Valley

My wife and I loved this spot! It was private, peaceful, and located close to several good hiking trails, restaurants, and wineries. Not to mention, only about 20 mins from downtown Charlottesville. There was a guestbook that provided ideas on things to do and places to see, but on top of this— Lynn also chimed in and provided specific places we could visit with our dog. We definitely recommend staying with Lynn, and will for sure we back!

We throughly enjoyed our stay in the Barn Loft. Andrea and Steve are gracious hosts. Prior to our arrival, we received information to prepare for our stay. We received timely communication on the date of our arrival. The property is even better than the pictures display. We truly felt welcome and at home. The furnishings are cozy and the beds are so comfortable. Our family enjoyed meeting the hosts, exploring the property, and the opportunity to rest and to relax in such a beautiful scenic area. We appreciated the fact that our dog could accompany us on this trip. Thank you for sharing your home with us. We look forward to returning.

This was the perfect place to relax and and unwind after an eventful day of commencement at Liberty University. My family and I loved all aspects of this amazingly-renovated barn. The property was absolutely stunning! So much to explore. We hope to come back for a longer stay in the future. Thank you Nicole for being a great host!

This is just someone opening their home, it is someone who loves to host; and it shows! Not only was the view incredible but the place felt like a home. From the little details (the “I forgot it at home” box, plenty of pool and bathroom towels, shampoo/conditioner/bodywash, having freshly ground coffee/sugar/sweetener, having spices and any kitchen utensils you could need, and even a heart keychain on the door and my name on the chalkboard). The bed was so comfortable and the shower pressure was amazing. The pool was great (although the weather was a little too cold for us to enjoy it fully)! The ceiling upstairs on one side of the bed was a little low but it was fine and worth it for a king bed. Every uber driver we had didn’t mind waiting for us as he just looked at the view. Would definitely stay here again!

We truly enjoyed our weekend at "Idyllic Mountain Home - Dog Friendly/great views"! It was all of that and more! Charlotte provided detailed info on how to run the wood stove (early March can get chilly) and we were warm and cozy on both levels all weekend. Other info about the house was very detailed. Our two corgis loved wandering around the property, which is elevated and very private! We took a hike with them on Saturday off of Skyline Drive, which was only about a half hour away; lovely! Dinner Saturday night was a milestone birthday celebration at The Inn at Little Washington, and it was worth the splurge! There's a small area near the bedroom where we set up the dogs crates and they were very comfy while we were gone. I highly recommend Charlotte's home for a weekend getaway!!

We had a wonderful stay at this home. The location is stunning, the farm manager is very friendly and knowledgeable, and the cows were so fun! We will definitely consider a return visit!

This is hands down my favorite airbnb rental ever. It's also the only one I've ever returned to. We so enjoyed our time in Rapidan! We brought pretty much all our food, so i only left the property once in 5 days. Heaven!! (though the rooster was quite talkative, the cows went serenely on their way!)

We felt right at home. The loft was cozy and pristine, and the location was perfect. Walkable to coffee, food, etc.

My stay at this house was wonderful. Gorgeous farmland and forests surrounding the home. I loved seeing the cows from my bed in the morning! I was in the area to go birding and kayaking and the proximity to Lake Moomaw and the trails was perfect. The space itself was very clean and very comfortable. I especially love the garage for style window in the living room. I would absolutely stay again.

We had a lovely stay at Wyatt's Barn! You can tell Wyatt put a lot of effort into creating a functional and very inviting space. The room and the bathroom felt much bigger than the pictures! The bed was very comfortable, and the linens were impeccable and soft. Plush and pretty towels. We loved everything about our stay and the peace that came with it. Waking up to the beautiful, lush forest was just what we needed after the days of the hustle and bustle of our daughter's graduation!

What a fabulous place to stay. We rented all three places for our large family and everything was just perfect. From the spacious accommodations to the thoughtful details ensuring we had everything we needed! This location was very convenient to Lexington and the nearby attractions! The owners made sure it was spotless and the beds were so comfortable! The kitchen was well equipped and the washers and dryers were a wonderful bonus!! We enjoyed the fire-pit in the evenings with our wine! Thanks again for everything, we will definitely be back!!

A Great and Wonderful place to relax and unwind. Peaceful surroundings, trickling waterfall, beautiful nature all perfect to rest and disconnect. Plenty to do with trails to hike, lake to fish or kayak (kayaks provided by host), gorgeous super clear swim pond, fire pit, string lights…. Everything was awesome. Met the host in passing, super friendly and hospitable. Great to chat with. Love their vision and execution of their facilities! Loved the farm store which housed delicious treats and some groceries and even fish bait for fishing on their lake. This place has it all! Our kids cried when our mini vacation was over because they didn’t want to leave (neither did we!) Our youngest wanted to sell our house so we could live here and never leave. We will be repeat renters and can’t wait to visit again. Thank you for sharing your property with us

This was a sweet spot near the park and walking distance to coffee shops and restaurants! We had two outdoor areas of sitting to read with plenty of privacy. I was a great stay!

Loved this air bnb, one of my favorites. It’s a quiet place. Nice farm setting. You feel safe on the property. Clean and nice comfortable bed. Allows pets, which is a must for me. A few downsides. There’s a flight of stairs getting up to the living area. So if you have a lot of luggage, it makes it difficult. The pathway is also gravel, so pulling a cart behind to the entrance can also take some effort. Other than that, no big issues. Again, one of my favorite places!!

Went with my friend and we found the place very comfortable. The kitchen is very nicely stocked! We brought food so that we could prepare most meals and the kitchen had more than we could ever need by way of kitchen gear! There was also a full stash of coffee, cream, honey and sugar! The location is great. We went to the White's Ferry Brewery that was just down the street and thoroughly enjoyed it! I would strongly recommend a visit. We also walked around the neighborhood to include down to the Potomac! Very nice! We took a day trip to Harper's Ferry (45-min drive) and of course to the little downtown area of Leesburg (7-min drive)! Rita was super responsive and brough us batteries quickly when requested for the remote and a container of eggs from the chickens! The beds are comfortable. I did sleep on the sleeper sofa and while it isn't a typical bed, it was fairly comfortable. Having the animals just below us was really sweet! Loved them all! Enjoyed our visit very much!

This place is pure bliss. I rented it for a girls weekend and we loved everything about this beautiful and unique space. We spent the evening enjoying the clear night sky at the fire pit, brunch in Middleburg and dinner in Marshall. Beautiful linens, bathrooms and comfortable beds. This place is SPECIAL. Thank you- we’ll be back.

We enjoyed a cozy and comfortable long weekend at the barn, which was equipped with everything we needed. The location is right off the highway with many hiking sites and restaurants nearby, but is set back from the road to provide peace and privacy. We particularly enjoyed roasting marshmallows on the fire pit!

Such a friendly host who truly cares about this property and the people who stay in it. She has a lovely welcome book with lots of information. It was also clear that the little things were thought of that takes the stay to the next level. A beautiful stay for my husband, pup, and I. Thank you, Michele!

We had such a nice stay here. The rental is a lovely, open floor plan second floor space with a cozy yet spacious feel. It is quiet and secluded, which was perfect for our needs. Mercy and Ethan were kind and very responsive. A great spot if your goal is to unwind and connect with nature. We are looking forward to visiting again!

Martha is an amazing host — the Guest Barn offered to us was extremely cozy, while also beautifully furnished and full of amenities that made my friends and I feel right at home. We were pleasantly surprised to find a snack basket, fresh produce and drinks in the fridge, coffee and tea, and cooking wares for us to use throughout our stay. Martha, herself, was even a gem when we finally met her on our departing day; she guided us to meet and feed her horses, walk a beautiful trail around the neighborhood, and told amazing stories about her family. She was even kind enough to personally assist us with our flat tire right before we’d left. All around, it feels as though we’ve made a family friend, and we definitely plan on returning!

What a great location! Very beautiful and serene, yet close to 81, markets, etc. There are no windows or natural light in the living space, so we just spent all our time sitting at the bar at the window - and what a view!! It changes all day long, as the sun shifts across the sky, and the horses are like jewels on the landscape. We sat outside late at night and enjoyed the stars and fireflies. The space was very clean and comfortable, John was available and welcoming, We're very glad to have stayed at his home.

Such a beautiful place! Feels like a privilege to stay at such a charming old house. Very comfortable, great amenities including a well-stocked, modern kitchen, and wonderful porches. Don't miss the clawfoot tub, too. Shelly is extremely responsive and friendly, very flexible and accommodating for us. She's great! There are neighboring houses but they are quiet, it's quite a peaceful spot. And the grounds are gorgeous. Highest recommendation!

This was my second visit to the property, and it was just as magical as the first. The space is peaceful, beautifully designed, and thoughtfully infused with nature and floral touches throughout. My husband, our two children, and I stayed in the Lily Loft, which worked perfectly for us. We loved walking the grounds, visiting the flower farm, relaxing in the sauna, and soaking in the calm of the surroundings. The kids especially enjoyed the outdoor swings and the games generously provided in our room. Such a special place—we can’t wait to return again!

We are so grateful to have found this wonderful spot for our girls' trip! We were all from out-of-town and had an amazing time in Charlottesville. Linda's place was set on a stunning with chickens, horses, fruit trees, and more! If you're looking to escape from the city to a serene, agrarian location, look no further. The barn is one giant space (making it tricky if multiple are taking work calls at the same time, for example) and the perfect space for four people. The two beds in the loft are quite small so best for children or petite folks. The interior of the space was so well-decorated and comfortable.
