  • Great stay! Easy walk into town and the surroundings. We would most certainly stay again when we come back! Thank you!

  • Amanda's place in Camden was a great find. Clean, comfortable (the bed with its heavy, warm comforter was absolutely lucious on a cold winter day!) and it had all the amenities we needed. It is centrally located in a lovely neighborhood. Amanda was very quick to respond to every question we had.

  • Very cute place to stay close to downtown Camden. Clean and comfortable and perfect for a small family and travelers with dogs. This was our second stay and we plan to come back!

  • I enjoyed staying at Amanda’s place with my two dogs and my sister. Very clean and super cozy place with easy access to town. Would 10/10 recommend!

  • Amanda’s apartment was fantastic. We had a very spacious lounge and dining area downstairs and upstairs was the bedroom and bathroom. Both rooms had a refrigerator which was handy. We used the small, well equipped kitchen facilities to prepare a couple of breakfasts during our stay which was nice to be able to do after being in the road for 5 weeks. The apartment was very clean and very warm. A strong NorthEasterly storm came through during our visit, and while many others in Camden lost power, we did not and we remained well protected and warm. The location is excellent as it is a 5/10 minute walk to the town centre, so very handy but very quiet at night enabling great sleeps! Thanks for a great stay.

  • Amanda was very responsive whenever we had questions, which was great. Her place has a good amount of space to spread out in. The location, in a nice quiet neighborhood, is wonderful. It is a very easy walk into town and is perfectly situated for exploring the mid-coast area (eg Belfast, Rockport, Rockland).

  • I cannot reccomend this place enough! This is one of my favorite places I've stayed in through Airbnb. The location couldn't be better with the house being near the water and about a five minute walk into town. The house was spotless and had really unique character and beauty -- I loved it the moment I walked in. John was hospitable and providedus with all the information we need. I highly, highly, highly reccomend it, the value is absolutely worth it.

  • John was extremely hospitable and welcoming. He gave us a detailed tour of his home, had helpful notes and reminders put up, and offered advice about places to go nearby. Definitely great value, especially for the location.

Featured in The Culture Trip as the #1 "Entire U.S. islands you can rent on Airbnb" Oak Island proves to be the most breathtaking Airbnb Island, located off the coast of Camden, Maine. Best described as a vacation off the beaten path, Oak Island allows you to escape the everyday chaos on your own 23 acre private island. With panaramic views and wildlife around every corner, it's the perfect get away for friends and family with plenty of camping real estate across the island.
Oak Island is perhaps one of the most beautiful islands in the North Atlantic. Everywhere you look, is a Kodak moment. The lighting changes continually with atmospheric conditions as well as the time of day, making Oak Island a photographers dream come true and the nature lovers paradise. The great nature photographer Elliot Porter, photographed this area surrounding oak island extensively. Oak Island is approximately 27 acres at low tide and 17 acres at high tide with six different beaches located around it's over one mile of shoreline. There are several miles of hiking trails throughout the island. There is even a beach we call Skip rock beach which is made up of perfectly sized flat stones for skipping rocks. From May through October hundreds of different species of wildflowers are cycling through Oak Island has expanses of open meadows as well as spruce forests, sumac forests, juniper ,oak, lupine, beach rose and bayberry as well as gooseberries and cherry. The beach roses vary in color from Snow White to deep purple. Bald eagles are daily visitors and deer pass through from time to time. Oak Island has some of the most spectacular sunsets and sunrises ever. You can enjoy them on the 60 foot high knoll named Parkers Peak just behind the main cabin. Swimming on one of Oak islands many beaches is really amazing the water is crystal clear and very clean and very cold. If you swim in June, you are really, really tough as the water temperature is generally only in the 50s. By July, the water temperature reaches the low to mid 60s. By August and September water temperatures could be pushing 70 especially on a hot sunny day on the incoming tide. You can actually swim and enjoy the water without turning blue. Look at the upside, the water is too cold for sharks although you might come out with a couple of lobsters hanging on your toes. Speaking of lobsters, lobster boats pass around the island almost daily pulling their lobster traps. If you'd like to have some fresh lobsters just flag over one of the boats and get plenty of fresh lobsters usually at well below market price. And if you enjoy mussels, there are millions of them on the rocks. Best to pick them at dead low tide. It is best to clean the mussels after you pick them by scraping the barnacles off of the shells. If you do not, particles of Barnacle could get inside the muscle shell and it is very annoying to chew on a piece of barnacle shell while enjoying your delicious mussel. WE HAVE SOME NICE DRONE FOOTAGE OF OAK SHOWING SOME OF THE BEACHES. PLEASE NOTE THE CLARITY OF THE WATER ....... ENJOY ACCOMMODATIONS There are two sets of accommodations on the island for you. The main cabin is located on a knoll at an elevation of about 50 feet. It faces south, west and north. It is a one room cottage approximately 16' x 24' with a 10 foot deck running on three sides of the cottage. Inside the cabin is a gas refrigerator, and a propane cook stove and a small kitchen area. There is also a foldout futon, a sleeping area for two along the glass windows in the front of the cabin. Also a sitting area with a small library. There is also a newly built small sleeping cabin dubbed O.I.L.S. Oak Island Love Shack. The love shack, is right above the water facing east so you get those beautiful sunrises and the sound of the waves lapping against the shore while you sleep in the evening. It is one room about 12' x 14' with a queen size bed that is made from driftwood found around the island shoreline. This sleeping cottage has an enormous deck of about 15 feet wide on three sides of the cabin. Note: linens and towels are not supplied. UTILITIES Electricity in the main cabin is provided by solar. You must conserve power or you could run out. We have never run out yet but if you have several cloudy days and you're using a lot of electricity that could happen. There is a shower under the main cabin as well as solar Sun bag showers available. It's also just as easy to heat up a bucket of water and have a bucket bath. Also there is an outdoor toilet, there is no plumbing. Cell phones generally work fine on the island sometimes you may have to move around a bit to get the proper location. Water is collected in vats from rain. It is fine for showering and cleaning etc. but not the drinking. You need to bring your drinking water. We recommend those 2 1/2 to 5 gallon jugs that you can buy in the grocery store. GETTING THERE If you do not have your own boat we can arrange a charter for you from Travis with Fox Island Charters. The prices vary based on pick up location (North Haven, Rockland, or Camden). We'll put you in direct contact with Travis to schedule and coordinate your travel.
  • What an amazing place! My new husband and I are avid campers and came here for part of our honeymoon, and if you bring all the food and water you need, it is basically glamping with all of the fun adventurous parts of camping and all of the comforts of a real bed, fridge, and stove. Waking up to the sunrise in the Love Shack, exploring the island, eating lobsters, and watching the sunset from the main cabin was incredible to say the least. We hope to come back again soon!

    Victoria2019-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • This is an awesome vacation spot. Bring a lot of drinking water in case the rainwater runs out. There are new types of mosquito repellent and mosquito avoiding devices that help make this stay more comfortable. Brace yourselves for very cold water. Enjoy the total immersion in nature, starry nights, birds, wild flowers and beautiful sailboats passing by. This place is truly unique!

  • If you’re curious about the Maine coast and have an outdoorsy, rugged, self-sufficient heart you will absolutely love Oak Island. The two buildings are perfectly cosy, and our group of four adults and three dogs had ample room to cook, sleep and hang out between the two. Multiple beaches, rocky tide pools, and trails gave us plenty to explore and our dog still is trying to recover from all the exercise. We clocked a wide variety of birds (arctic terns and loons were highlights), a couple of seals, many live sea urchins, hermit crabs, starfish (look closely at lowest tide), periwinkles, and we think a porpoise. No blackfies, but when the breeze wasnt heavy enough mosquitoes in the thickets (none at the beach). Plenty of kitchen gear, a BBQ grill, and a few propane burners to cook great meals all week. Out in the sun it was pretty hot for Maine, but in the cabins the breeze and shade kept us comfortably cool. At night, The Milkyway and 4th of July fireworks from about six different towns on the horizon lit up the sky. Rustic, off the grid island living doesn’t get much better.

  • Parker's island is a piece of haven. Travis, who will bring you there with his boat, is super nice and efficient and the boat ride itself is great (Travis stopped on the way to point out seals and eagles for us). The island itself is marvellous. Trails go around it and, despite the relatively small size of it, the landscape and vegetation are varied and wonderful. We were there in mid-September, it was beautiful, the temperature was conformable (even allowing a short swim in the ocean) and we had no problem with bugs or mosquitos (which I understand from other reviews are there in other times of the year). The house is basic but super comfortable. Water depends on rain and electricity on the sun, so you might not have much of those. Remember to bring candles, torches and abundant water. There is another, even nicer, house a few minutes away but we did not use it as we were only three friends. We loved every second of our (unfortunately short) stay and would love to go back in the future.

  • If you are an adventurer who loves exploring Maine and loves islands, Oak Island is the place for you. We were a party of five ranging from 2 years to 71. All of us enjoyed the experience. There was enough to keep us active for the entire 7 days. Bring kites and take them to the meadow, bring your suit for swimming in the different beaches. Bring your blankets and sweaters for cold nights. Bring food to grill and s’more fixings for a fire on the beach. Bring your hiking shoes for exploring all the books and crannies. Bring mosquito repellent and fly traps! Leave your stresses behind you and welcome peace, tranquility, beauty beyond measure. Bring your stories for telling, your riddles and jokes, learn to bake on the grill! Bring your radio to listen to the baseball games. Bring your wonder and marvel at the night sky. We will be back! You come too!

  • A great place for an extended outdoor adventure. Beautiful views and beaches all around the island. A great place to find peace and quiet.

    Anthony2018-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • You will be amazed at the beauty!!!!!! I went in the end of September and the weather was perfect. Warm sunny days and cool crisp nights that if you were to go outside around 2:30-3:00 in the morning, you will see the Milky Way and most likely many shooting stars. Very little city lights to hinder star gazing. You will also find walking paths throughout the island. They will take you to all sorts of hidden places with breathtaking views. No lack of scenery anywhere you look. The wrap-a-deck on the main cottage is spectacular with an 180 degree view looking north. Distant islands like, Bear, Fling, Eagle and Great Spuce Head Island can be seen very easily on fogless days. On the southern side of the island is the,"Sleeping Cabin." This is the perfect cabin for a couple. Paradise!!! On those windy days make the best of them and bring a kite. The northeastern field is a great spot for a day of kite flying. But, on still days with no wind the mosquitoes can be fierce. Absolutely bring bugs spray with DEET. It's the only thing that works. Homeopathic stuff will just not do. There is no running water. The outdoor shower runs by gravity. All water to clean dishes and drink is rain water that is collected and held in large barrels. For drinking water, I brought a filter that I could pump the water from the barrel into my water bottles. Or just buy plenty of drinking water at Hannafords supermarket in Camden. For dish washing, I boiled the water in a big lobster pot just to be on the safe side, and there is plenty of propane to do this. There is a "Privy," or outhouse on the southern side of island which is a minute walk down the path which has a wonderful view during your private time. So bring your "Bum Wad." Toilet paper that is. Barney Appleton is your way out to the island. He will pick you at, "Steamboat Landing," in Camden with his lobster boat. It has ample room for all your friends and or family and supplies. Barney is a terrific fella and a wealth of information. The island is perfect in my view. I will do it again next year or even earlier. I hope this is helpful

  • We had an absolutely delightful time. A trip of a lifetime. Perfect set-up for 8 people or so, and an exceptional value. Amazing 360 degree views of the island and the bay. Non stop outdoor activities for children (teens), snorkeling, fishing, swimming, and more. Highly recommend.

  • A spectacular cottage overlooking the water from your bedroom you will not find anywhere. If a romantic getaway is what your looking for search no more. Quiet, plenty of room and a well stock kitchen with all the amenities you need to create wonderful meals looking over the water and watching the many different boats go by. A rare find.

    Alexander2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • I have stayed at a lot of Airbnbs but this cottage (and the hosts) just topped the list. We love Vinalhaven and this property made it even more special! The photos are accurate but still can't capture the full beauty or comforts. We appreciated everything from the fresh flowers on the table to welcome us to the outdoor shower after a day at the quarries. While we often like to sleep in on vacations, we enjoyed waking up earlier and being lazy in bed while we watched the lobster boats and tall ships roll by our window. Diane and Agnes are lovely as well and eager to help with anything - although because the instructions are so clear and the house is fully stocked, we found we had no questions/concerns. In short, the place and hosts are great.

    Cheryl2019-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • The perfect Maine cottage: snug and comfortable, a serene setting, and a mesmerizing view. Waking up to the ever-changing view of the water from my bed was a dreamy way to start each day (and so was the outdoor shower.) Agnes is a kind host and we loved exploring the island. Thank you for sharing such a magical place with us!

    Laura2019-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • Diane's cottage is absolutely charming and it has the most amazing views! The cottage was super clean and well equipped. The views from the bedroom and the deck are stunning, and the outside shower is a treat. Agnes welcomed us and was super helpful. She also gave us advice on what trails to hike (amazing!). We really recommend this house and will definitely return next summer.

    Juliana2019-06-14T00:00:00Z
  • The views are spectacular at this perfectly appointed cottage. I couldn't have asked for anything more: quiet, romantic, and quite special. The island is wonderful and has just enough if you are looking for a retreat from city life. We hiked, swam, napped, ate lobster and dined out a few times. My husband and I can't wait to return.

    Jaimee2018-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • This house and location had everything that one would expect from a Maine vacation! A fabulous view, beautiful sunsets, and from the deck one can see Maine's wildlife at its best... osprey, bald eagles, and seals to name a few! Agnes, Diane's mother, was a fabulous host. She was warm and welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed! The outside shower was heaven and the kitchen had every amenity one could need. We loved going into the quaint fishing village for supplies (supermarket is well stocked), meals out, and, of course, our daily run to Go Fish for penny candy and gifts when it was time to leave. We'll be back!

Camden Cottage is a charming in-town cottage on a quiet, residential street just three blocks from downtown Camden. Camden Cottage is so close to town that from the deck you can hear the fog horn and harbor bell. Gardens encircle the house and line the street as you walk to this lovely 1900 cottage. Beside two decks for sunning and grilling, the amenities include an enclosed porch with the hot tub and a firepit with plenty of seating for evening cocktails. Our Buttercup: A Camden classic.
Location, location, location: Buttercup is in the heart of Camden, just a three block downhill walk into the heart of the village. The street is quiet and the yard private. You'll love the two decks and four person hot tub in its separate sunny room off the kitchen. The decks offer places to sun, cook out on the grill, enjoy a drink around the firepit, and watch children play on the lawn. Besides three bedrooms, the cottage features a sitting room with futon and bathroom as well as a couch in the living room that sleeps two.
Camden is the jewel of the midcoast. Tree lined streets with beautifully maintained homes from the 18th and 19th centuries make this a village for walking and enjoying the charms of small town Maine. Summer gardens in Maine are spectacular and nearly a competitive sport in the town to see who can grow the most lavish garden. This make walking through town, over to the waterfall by the old mill buildings, strolling down the quaint and vibrant village downtown streets, unique and enjoyable. This area has some of the best festivals and events. Check them out on the Chamber of Commerce's website: Lobster Festival, Blues Festival, art walk and shows, Windjammer Weekends, July Fourth celebrations, Toboggan Weekend, and Film Festival just to name a few.
  • Kristina was a wonderful host and quick to respond to any questions we had! The home was beautiful and filled with anything you could possibly need! It was cozy and close to everything. If we are ever back in the area, we will be booking again!

  • I kind of don't want to gush about it lest it becomes hard to book later, but that's not right so here goes... Fantastic house, perfect for a family with 3 BR & 2 BA. We were just a couple so had the run of the place. We spent most of the time in the kitchen, which was *very* well equipped. The location is lovely, a short walk to center of Camden. The hot tub is a great amenity after a day of walking and hiking around. Kirstina was an ideal host. Prompt communications, we had one glitch with the hot tub and she sent someone over very quickly to get it sorted out. We will very likely be back!

This sunny suite is located in downtown Camden and is a perfect stay for a couple on vacation. The king bedroom connects to a full private bathroom. The stairwell and dining room are to be shared with two other guest rooms, which you are welcome to also rent (search "Two rooms in downtown Camden" ).
Walking distance, about 5 minutes, from downtown Camden (restaurants, shops, grocery, bank). With a car most anything will be accessible, but on foot you can access most anything you might need!
  • We stayed for two nights during a recent holiday and the apartment was just fanatastic! Location was perfect, just a 2 min stroll to the town center with two nice coffee shops along the way. Check in was one of the easiest experiences I've had with airbnb and the room itself was clean, spacious with a very nice en-suite. I would very much recommend this to people.

    Mark2018-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • Set on a quiet Camden street a block from the harbor, this early 19th Century house has three AirbnB rooms on the second floor, two of them with a shared bath. The front door opens on to a nice shared sitting room with coffee maker, some simple dinner ware and a table top fridge. The "Sunny Suite" upstairs has a handsome private bath with traditional tub/shower. The room is spacious, with a comfortable king size bed, excellent lighting and handsome antique furnishings. No TV or air conditioning, but an efficient window vent fan that keeps the room fresh and cool. To be noted: we found the wifi too weak to receive in the upstairs "Sunny Suite" but adequate in the downstairs sitting room. For guests with mobility issues or lots of baggage, the stairs to the second floor are steep and narrow. On-street parking is convenient and accessible, even on summer weekends. The location is delightfully walkable to lively and lovely downtown Camden.

  • Awesome location and great room for the price

    Melisa2018-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • A fanulous place from which to enjoy the charming town og Belfast. Lots of space and light in the room, fine bath room, lovely neighborhood, close to town. We warmly recommend this place.

  • Thank you for sharing your home.

    Bob2018-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • The Sunny Suite was a lovely room with a large private bath. The location to downtown and Camden harbor was ideal! We walked to the harbor each morning for breakfast and on July 4 enjoyed a dinner on the harbor the found a bench by the water to enjoy fireworks with no parking hassles.

    Debra2018-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay in the sunny suite. It was the perfect place for a quiet New England experience. The hosts were very accommodating of our schedule and they provided dished that we could use for our meals. We would recommend this place!

Cottage by the Ocean is close to art and culture, great views, restaurants dining, and museums. The guest room is dubbed the Tree Top because of the skylight and the corner windows tree view. Cottage by the Ocean is good for solo adventurers and business travelers. Please note that my two cats, Puppie and Pistol, help with the hosting. Convenient to Rockland, Rockport, and Camden. The room (see photo galley) can accommodate 2 travelers (+$20). Extra disinfectant applied between guests.
Dubbed the "Tree Top" room because it corner windows look out on a wooded scene and the sky light always provides a glimpse of the sky. The cozy Ikea-styled room with s is quiet and comfortable for a short stay in the area. The desk area is well lit and includes easy access electric outlets and a charging station.
Cottage on the Ocean features an unobstructed view of the Atlantic. Quiet neighborhood. Just a mile away, downtown Rockland offers boutique shopping, world class museums, and great dining. The location is perfect if you are participating in programs at Maine Media Workshops, Center for Woodworking, The Apprenticeship Program or other extended length educational activities. Great proximity to Rockland's downtown Strand Theatre whether you're coming for a musical concert or for one of the many events such as the Camden Conference or the Camden. International Film Festival And of course The Maine Lobster Festival, The North Atlantic Blues Festival and Rockland's premiere art museums: the Center for Maine Contemporary Art and the Farnsworth Art Museum. other museums include The Sail and Steamship Museum and the LIghthouse Museum.

  • Pam, Pistol and puppy are warm and welcoming host. The only thing better then the view is the shower!

    Courtney2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Great view, parking right outside the house, easy access to the center of town but far enough away to avoid any crowds. My stay was in winter, when tourist amenities are limited, so I can't comment on available activities in the area.

*** Important Note: Due to the coronavirus pandemic, please know that along with our impeccable cleaning services, we are taking extra, extra care to disinfect frequently touched surfaces between reservations. Come stay in our comfortable, romantic one bedroom cottage set in a peaceful, secluded location on the coast of Maine, with a 5 minute walk to public water access. You share the property with owners who may or may not be present during your visit.
Come, experience Downeast Maine from the epicenter of its famous coast, remarkable for its stunning views, nesting bald eagles, basking seals, fireflies and starry nights. Stay in our Waterview Cottage with its double bed and comfortable living room overlooking Smith Cove and summer sunsets. Cozy up to our fireplace (propane) on those cool evenings. It's a 5 minute walk to the town dock where you can enjoy water access. Our location is quite remote including lots of winding roads. If you want a little piece of heaven in rural coastal Maine this is your place. The cottage is lovely and very comfortable, mostly one big room (plus a bedroom) surrounded by windows with a beautiful distant view of Smith’s Cove. A short walk takes you to that idyllic, quintessential Maine cove and dock. Brooksville Maine is a sweet friendly little village. Good coffee is 99 cents (with your own travel mug) at Buck's Harbor market where there are yummy breakfast treats, provisions for lunch and basic groceries too. Buck's restaurant behind the market is delicious fine dining and The Bagaduce Lunch is an award winning fried seafood shack with unbeatable views. Don’t miss Tinder Hearth for amazing bread, crossants, scones and pizza on selected nights. Hike the beautiful Goose Falls trail in the nearby Hollbrook Sanctuary or venture out to Acadia National Park, one of the most exquisite of our national treasures. There's lots to do for all ages: Like to walk/hike? Explore nearby Holbrook Sanctuary, hike Blue Hill Mountain or take a picnic to Acadia National Park, just 1 1/2 hours away, for spectacular hiking or biking through the woods on the famous Carriage Trails. The Blue Hill Heritage Trust has added many new hiking trails on the peninsula. Want to get on the water? Charter a sailboat at Buck's Harbor Marine for a day on Eggemoggin Reach or rent kayaks to paddle on one of our many local bays, or take the mail boat to Isle au Haut (part of Acadia Natn'l Park) for a hike, or swim in the local, and warmish, Walker Pond. Is art your thing? Plan a day trip to Deer Isle, Stonington, or Blue Hill to check out the impressive, local art scene. The Reversing Falls Sanctuary offers art openings and other events. Like music? World famous Kneisal Hall Music School in Blue Hill hosts fabulous classical concerts throughout the summer; Flash in the Pan Steel Drum Band plays at the Blue Hill town park most Monday evenings (overlooking Blue Hill harbor); check out the Stonington Opera House for their repertoire of all kinds of performances; live music Tues. nights at Methodist Church in Buck's Harbor; open mic at Tinderhearth. Are you a Foodie? Pick up your bread ( croissants, tarts, cookies, pizza and more!) at our local Tinderhearth Bakery, and your greens at the Brooksville Farmer's Market on Tuesdays just above Buck's Harbor Market. David's Folly Farm will sell you farm fresh meat and Buck's Harbor Market (5 minutes away) has just about everything else for dinner. O yes, and, of course, don't forget you can buy lobsters at Northern Bay Market, live or cooked and ready to go! Then, come back to Waterview Cottage and watch the sun as it sets over Smith Cove. And, great, local restaurants abound - see the local Weekly Packet for more info. There's so much more to do – play golf, tennis, visit pottery studios, enjoy raw oysters fresh from the local (and world famous) Bagaduce River Oyster Farm, go bird watching, or visit the pioneering “back-to-the-land" Good Life Center 7 miles away in Cape Rosier. Oh! I forgot to mention blueberry pie a la mode. You'll just have to come explore for yourself! Welcome!

Cozy, light-bathed bedroom in the renovated "back house" of an 1850s Maine farmhouse. A peaceful space for healthcare workers or others looking for a place to work or stay during the COVID 19 epidemic. We will keep the room empty for 3 days between guests during this time, and will increase our usual cleaning procedures to include sanitizing all frequently touched surfaces. The room has a private entrance - no need for any interaction with hosts. Dedicated guest parking for anytime access.
Newly remodeled space, including a private bathroom with rainfall shower. Cotton bedding and towels, down comforter, SUPER-comfortable mattress, new heat pump to keep you warm or cool (depending on the season), space heater for those extra cold winter days and nights, a closet and set of drawers. Tea, coffee, and a refrigerator provided in the room. This space is perfect for anyone looking for an affordable, private, clean, safe and comfortable alternative to a hotel room. It is ideal for those looking to spend a night on their way to or from Acadia National Park, traveling to the area for multi-day business trips, or using the room as a cozy crash pad from which to explore the Midcoast region. If you are looking for a space in which you can prepare meals, enjoy cocktails on a private patio, or be secluded in the Maine wilderness, our place probably doesn't fit the bill...but there are many other options in the area that would. Other details to note so there are no surprises: The room does not have a TV but does have Wi-Fi. There are a set of gravel and wooden steps leading up to the entrance from the private driveway...if you are not able to lift your suitcases this could be a problem, though we are happy to assist with luggage if we are home. Also, our house is much the same as it was in the 1850s but the town around it has grown and the road outside the home is well-traveled. The same location that makes our place a very convenient stop also means that the home is not super secluded....but most guests report a very restful stay nonetheless. Though best suited to two adults, small families with children who don't mind sleeping on the floor are welcome. Ample floor space for a couple of sleeping bags (not provided).
Waldo County has a thriving local foods movement - stop by the Belfast Co-op to check out their well-stocked shelves of local and natural foods, or visit one of our two wonderful farmers markets: the Belfast Farmer's Market (Fridays 9-1, year-round, outdoor in summer, indoor in winter) or the United Farmers Market of Maine (Saturdays 9-2, year-round, indoor). Take a walk along the Belfast Harbor Walk, check out the thriving downtown shops and art galleries, and end the evening with a seafood dinner outside on the deck at Young's Lobster Pound, overlooking lovely Penobscot Bay. (Heads up - Young's is BYOB!) Many other places of interest, both near and far - just ask!
  • Spacious and gracious and sparkling new (or it felt like it). A lovely retreat only 5 minutes to downtown. Highly recommended.

  • The back house was much better than we expected and wonderful in every way. It was comfortable, warm, really stylish, great coffee, comfy bed. It felt spacious and private but it was very close to Belfast. We relaxed and took advantage of her suggested restaurants which were excellent. The exterior of the main house gives no indication of the adorableness of the inside. Highly recommend and hope to stay there again.

    Megan2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • We spent two nights here on a winter weekend getaway, and loved it! I would highly recommend it. The space is cozy and charming, with great amenities - the bed is one of the most comfortable I have ever slept on. The Back House is a great value and offers easy access to Belfast, or other spots in the Midcoast or Downeast region.

Cozy, isolated, well stocked cottage cleaned by a professional cleaning crew awaits your visit.
Walk to the village for entertainment, a sail, hiking or exquisite dining; or stay at 'home' where there is plenty of room to relax and cook fresh local food from the farmers market or co-op. Want to get away from it all? Tucked away in a quiet neighborhood, the cottage gives you a place to 'hang your hat' while exploring all the area has to offer. Two people will find the space very comfortable. There is plenty of safe parking if you wish to stroll to the village to sit by the harbor, shop, attend an event at the opera house or have a nice cup of coffee. Come visit and enjoy our beautiful mid-coast area!
  • Cozy quiet place!

  • The cabin is cozy and has a fantastic location; within walking distance of the center of town. The space was very clean and tidy. The bed was comfortable and I loved the little porch. Great stay and I would go back again!

  • The cottage was quaint and lovely. A short two-minute drive to the main town by the port. A great place for two- very cozy and homey!

    Giulia2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • The home is very small, but still has everything 1-2 people could need. This is a cozy comfy tiny house, which is very clean and close to Downtown Camden. I’d recommend the home to anyone passing through the area.

    Tony2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Wow what an adorable cottage to stay in- almost like a “tiny house”. Full kitchen with a stove, refrigerator, toaster and other cooking utensils. Different kitchen condiments left to use. The bed was comfortable and very cozy. Cottage is easy to find and very close to town! Town is adorable and fun to walk around with great restaurants and breweries. Power went out in town and Margaret was quick to respond to help us figure out why and even offered to send someone over to look at our electricity (this was before we found out the power went out in the whole town). Camden is a cute, quaint small town with friendly locals. Great stay for a great price! Will come again.

    Kelly2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I stayed at Margaret’s place during a Birthday / Valentine’s Day getaway. We wanted to escape from our busy life in the city for just a little bit and this turned out to be the perfect destination for just that! It was extremely cozy. Especially during the cold, winter nights. It was also very quiet and a convenient distance away from what Downtown Camden has to offer. We would definitely stay again if we’re ever back in the area!

    Gabrielle2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • This place is so cozy and warm! We traveled to Camden for a quick overnight trip and were so pleasantly surprised at how comfortable our stay was. Don’t let winter deter you from a Maine getaway! Would absolutely stay again at this cute cottage for two.

  • My boyfriend and I visited Camden in February to celebrate our anniversary and we absolutely loved this cute little cabin! Perfect location, spotlessly clean and just the right size for a couple. Maggie came out to meet us when we got there and gave us a tour of the space and info about the area. My husband and I felt so welcome there. I wish we would have had more than one night there!

  • Maggie and Dave have a wonderful place. When we arrived Maggie welcomed us personally and showed us everything. The Room is so beautiful stilled and it felt like coming home. It’s the perfect place to calm down and enjoy the amazing nature direct in front of the house. It’s a place we wished we could have stayed longer. Thank you!

We enjoyed hikes, galleries and a variety of restaurants in our 3 day stay. I loved being able to use their kayak. We would definitely go there again.

This cozy house is walking distance from downtown Belfast, the Belfast Rail Trail, and the Belfast Harbor. The house is a romantic nest for two or a crash pad for up to six. Live comfortably while gaining easy access to all the cool adventures Mid-Coast Maine offers. Please note this is a real older house in a real neighborhood. It is eco-friendly and I do not use pesticides. You may see harmless house spiders, birds and plants. If you are looking for a hotel experience, please stay in a hotel.
This lovely bungalow style house has a full kitchen with all the kitchen tools you need to cook using easily obtained local food. It has a microwave, toaster, coffee maker, full stove with oven, all pots, pans and dishes, and all silver and utensils you might need. The Belfast Co-op and two local farmer's markets are walking distance away. The sleeping arrangements offer great flexibility - there is a bedroom with a queen bed, another with twin bunk beds, and also a comfortable futon couch. There is also plenty of room in the yard to set up a tent if you prefer to enjoy the fresh ocean air flowing off the bay. The front porch provides a relaxing place to watch the sky and listen to the wind blow through the willow tree leaves. The house is heated and cooled with a heat pump which allows you to keep the space the perfect temperature at all times. There is a washer and dryer in the basement if you need to cycle some clothes during a longer stay.
The proximity this house provides you to downtown Belfast is awesome. You are only two minutes walking away from Waterfall Arts, an amazing local art center that hosts all kinds of classes for kids and adults, a gallery, lots of events and music, and a farmer's market. Another three minutes walking puts you in the heart of downtown Belfast, which is an amazing small town! Here are some of my favorites: Check out the Colonial Theater for the latest movies in a gorgeous art deco theater with three screens. There are lots of awesome restaurants (faves: Nautlius, Meanwhile in Belfast, Delvino's, Laan Xang, Chase's Daily, Darby's), local breweries/bars (Rollies, Three Tides, Front Street Pub), two delicious ice cream shops (The Chocolate Drop Candy Shop, Wild Cow Creamery), and so many cool stores (Coyote Moon, The Green Store, Colburn's Shoes, Justine, The Good Table, Eat More Cheese, Yo Momma's, Side Country Sports and Bike Shop - you can rent bikes there, and on and on). The Belfast area is chock full of outdoor activities: you can hike, bike, kayak, paddleboard, sail, walk, ski, skate - anything you want, we do it! There are local schooners at the Belfast harbor to book a sailing trip on (Timberwind, Amity), as well as places to rent bikes, kayaks and other gear (Side Country Sports, Water Walker, Ducktrap Kayak). Local trails and preserves include the Belfast Rail Trail, the Hills to the Sea trail, Stover Preserve, Bald Mountain (towards Camden), Head of Tide Preserve, Sears Island (near Searsport), Moose Point State Park, Camden Hill State Park, and so many more! And of course Belfast is a great jumping off place for the full range of what Maine offers: visit Islesboro (twenty minutes drive to ferry, twenty minute ferry ride), Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor (hour and a half drive), Camden and Mount Batty (twenty minute drive), Baxter State Park and Katahdin (two hour drive), on and on...
  • Quaint house in the middle of nowhere. Belfast is an interesting place. Thank you Louisa

    Michael2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • The place really does feel like a little home away from home. It’s spacious, clean, and there is literally everything you need; from spices to board games. The host is super friendly and replies very fast. Everything worked out perfectly and we had an amazing time. Already recommend the place to a friend.

    Teodor2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • You can expect a clean, cozy and carefree atmosphere, just like home. It is easy to relax and sit around the kitchen table with coffee in the morning or spend a casual evening at the cottage with take out food from one of the many restaurants in Belfast. It is close to everything, yet very quiet at night.

    Beth2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Extremely convenient location!

    Sam2020-03-01T00:00:00Z

Restaurants, shopping and our fabled harbor hosting day sails exploring Penobscot Bay and its islands are a five-minute walk from one of the oldest capes in Camden village. Built in 1800 and located on a quiet one-way street with a private entrance, the second floor is reserved for you. Two air-conditioned bedrooms and bath. Rooms are priced for one room. 2nd bedroom ($50 per night) available for your use, otherwise, it will remain unoccupied during your stay. Wifi access.
Choose either the yellow queen bedroom with Italian luxury bedding or the white double bedroom with crisp vintage bedding. Both are furnished with period antiques and have access to a private bath with handmade tiles designed by the owner in the shower and one person tub. Aveda botanical toiletries. Spa bathrobes are provided for your use during your stay. Biscotti or muffins in the morning, Keurig, breakfast tea. Air-conditioned. Mini fridge, parking, and WIFI included. Please be aware that, typical of the era when the house was built, that the stairs are steep and may not be suitable for very young children. The second bedroom is available for an additional $50 per night or will remain unoccupied during your stay.
My house is in the village so access to the harbor, shops and restaurants, etc. is a short and relaxing walk right around the corner and a few minutes away. It is opposite a Montessori school, closed during the summer, but has a wonderful playground that is open to all.
  • Great location, comfy bed, nice shower and bathroom with natural light. Host was accommodating of us departing a bit late so we could go for a hike on our last day

  • We loved our stay at Susan's beautiful home! It is incredibly charming, the beds are so comfy, the location couldn't have been better, and our interactions with Susan were delightful. She even made us lemon poppyseed muffins in the morning!

  • Beautiful room with plenty of space and privacy! Susan was very responsive and helpful with information prior to, and after our arrival. Very easy and short walk to the main street of Camden! Would absolutely recommend Susan's place to friends and family...and the rest of the world, too!

  • Susan’s place was so convenient for walking to the Appledore ll ship for our sunset sail (reason for our visit to Camden) and downtown activities. There is a nicely stocked convenience store within 5 min walk in the historical neighborhood. And the bed has to be the most comfortable sleep I have ever experienced. David R 10/3/19

  • Very comfortable, quiet and private. Susan has done a nice job with the extra touches that create a cozy and relazing respite. We loved being able to walk downtown to shop, dine and explore. Will definitely return.

  • Susan's place is perfect. It's conveniently located a few blocks from the main street in town, you have your own private entrance and tons of privacy, the bathroom is spacious and bright and Susan is lovely! I lost my keys one of the nights of my stay and she graciously took my (very late) phone call and unlocked the door for me. Would highly reccomend!

From this casual 2 bedroom, 2 bath, 1878 shingled farmhouse in beautiful Rockport village, you’ll be just a few steps from the Beauchamp Point Rd walk along the harbor, through shady woods, to the rock ledges, and Children’s Chapel. Enjoy sitting by the water, watching many bird species, lobster boats, and the Indian Island lighthouse. You’ll be close to two world class restaurants, right in Rockport Village, a coffee shop, a lobster shack, and seafood market. All within walking distance.
Our home has a fully equipped kitchen and the 2 bedrooms have comfortable queen size mattresses. The backyard grotto is a lovely spot for alfresco dining. The front porch has some harbor view, and is the perfect spot to enjoy a drink and sea breezes while reading your book.
Our home is one of the last ones before the paved street becomes a wooded dirt road that runs along the sea. There are fabulous old trees, sea breezes, ospreys and other sea birds. You can hear loons call from the harbor. It is simply beautiful. Gorgeous nature, but also access to art, good food and music. Bay Chamber Concerts and Music School is located in the village as well as Maine Media Workshops an international photography and film school.

  • Carrie was the most amazing host I have ever encountered on Airbnb. We were traveling was five kids and she had amazing recommendations for family activities that would captivate the entire crowd. She was extremely knowledgeable about the surrounding area and offered excellent suggestions from food to activities that led to wonderful memories for our family! Additionally, Carrie checked up on throughout our stay to make sure we were taken care of. Upon arrival, she provided a thoughtful handwritten note and additional contact information should anything come up during our stay. I cannot speak more highly of Carrie. The home is cute and was a great location for all of our ventures. It is a dog friendly home and I believe a dog lives in the home when it is not occupied with folks from Airbnb. That is clearly explained in the description. A great stay!

    David2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • The home was clean, welcoming, and comfortable. Everything was convenient. Carrie provided us with excellent tips and welcomed us with gifts. We were so glad we chose her home to stay in and highly recommend it for!!

  • A wonderful week at a very comfortable and charming country rental. A beautiful setting, off the main road (quiet), with great bird watching. Carrie put so much thought into making us feel welcome (fresh linens, soft towels, suggestions to local haunts, kayaks). The kitchen was even stocked with supplies for a yummy country breakfast! Communication is amazing with these extremely considerate hosts. Fully stocked kitchen, small patio, plenty of space to spread out (family of 5). Rent this home!

  • A bright, sparkling place to stay with a walk to town that offers the best views. Highly recommended!

    Chris2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a really wonderful time in Donte‘s house. Everything was so tastefully furnished and equipped with inspiring books and broschures. The location is just to be called great. Within easy walking distance from the town Centre and harbour but really off any noisy crowdedness of such a touristic hot spot as Camden. We liked it to sit in the front yard for a coffee in the morning - hope that didn‘t anoyed Donte’s neighbors.... We definitely recommend and would be glad to stay here again when getting back to Camden again.

  • A quick walk through neighborhood to the center of downtown Camden and waterfront activities. A lovely place with a very comfortable bed! I recommend this for couples or a single person looking for a home base for trip to the Camden area. Very good location and quick communication.

  • This is a truly wonderful place to stay in an incredible corner of the world. We loved this space! The house is 19th century charming, incredibly stylish, cozy, and pleasingly modern in what it offers in the way of comforts. We walked to dinner and shopping and strolled the neighborhood streets enjoying the rich architectural history and views of Camden bay. The location couldn’t be more perfect... quiet and just a short walk to all we needed. Donte was a most generous and kind host who gladly helped us find incredible dining, great art galleries, museums, and scenic drives.

    John2018-10-19T00:00:00Z

The house is small enough to stay easily warm in the winter and airy enough to be cool in the summer. A clothesline and large drying rack are available to help conserve electricity. Use this comfortable house as a launching pad for your Midcoast adventures, or just tuck in for a quiet stretch of rejuvenation. There are a several bike rental places nearby. There is a Concord Trailways Bus Stop a little over a half-mile away. The bus connects to rail or continuing bus service in Portland. There are international airports in both Portland and Bangor.
Our street is lovely and quiet and features several 1920s - type bungalows. We ask that everyone drive slowly, as there are several children in the area, and our street is popular for walking and biking.

We would be happy to welcome you to our relaxing little apartment on the 2nd floor of a cute garage. This is a great location for visiting Belfast as we are super close to all the action but set far enough off the road in the woods that you will have a peaceful night of sleep & be ready to explore all that Belfast and Midcoast Maine has to offer. (There is a house on the property that is occupied, but other than that you can't see any other neighbors!)
We are located down a private driveway that leaves you in a quiet area to relax. Downtown Belfast is a very short drive from the apartment where you will find many wonderful places to eat, play, shop and explore!
  • the place was sparkling clean and has some adorable decor!! would definitely recommend this spot to others!

  • Clean, quiet, central location for the area. Alana was communicative and helpful.

  • A very cozy home away from home. We stayed a week and this place exceeds expectations. Very clean with all the amenities. Nicely decorated and comfortable. There is a lot of attention to detail. Alana was very responsive to quickly answer questions. I highly recommend this place.

  • This is a comfy apartment. We stayed a long weekend and I was able to cook two full meals using the kitchen and we did our laundry in with the provided washer/dryer. The apartment is nice and warm in the wintertime. It has a spacious bathroom with a big shower. It's right off Route 1, easy to find but quiet and secluded. It's a quick walk to the footbridge into the Belfast Riverwalk along the harbor and into downtown. Alana is a great, responsive host and the place was clean and well appointed.

Our vintage modern cottage apartment is just the perfect space for your Camden vacation . We are walking distance to town , one block from the public launch . Private entrance separate from main house. The Apt is located on first floor of our two family home.
Decor is fun and we are walking distance to everything .
The views , the shops , food , location . So Maine!
  • We had a wonderful stay. This was a nice change for our usual stay in a hotel when we visit Camden. The house was fully equipped with everything you need to live day-to-day, very clean and up to date interior design and super comfortable king-sized bed with great bedding! Ana Luisa and family and neighbors were very welcoming and friendly!

  • Stayed for two nights. We rented the main house and cottage since it was more than 10 of us. It allowed for some privacy but also was convenient to get together. Lots of space. The only issue is the walls are paper thin so you can hear everything that the people upstairs are doing. Host was friendly and responded to texts quickly. Main house was renovated nicely, beautiful bathrooms and rooms. Kitchen is big and spacious. Wish it wasn’t so cold so we could take advantage of the back porch which had a grill. Would return.

  • The house was a great location to explore Camden. It was just around the bay from the shops, maybe a 7 minute walk. This is a two story house, with this apartment on the ground floor. The street parking was easy during our stay in October. The apartment is nicely appointed, spacious, and has a great historic feel. The beds were super comfortable. The house was very clean. Ana Luisa was very responsive to a request and made the stay easy. Would stay again.

  • Beautiful house and great location. Upstairs tenants were quite loud and woke us up both days by stomping around all morning. We informed Ana Luisa, and she bought us breakfast, which was a nice touch.

    Linda2019-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great location, a very clean and spacious apartment.

    Maaria2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Great spot next to downtown.

    Isaac2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful house conveniently located just a few minutes’ walk from the centre of Camden. It is clean, stylish and comfortable, and makes the perfect base for exploring the town and the surrounding area. Ana Luisa was an accommodating host. Street parking was widely available across the road from the house.

    Sharon2019-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment was beautiful and well stocked. Great location, as well. We enjoyed our brief stay.

Unique granite house situated in a field surrounded by woods. A quiet peaceful setting minutes from Rockland museums, lighthouses, beaches. Ferry trips to offshore islands. You will have private access to the entire first floor with with kitchen (gas stove, oven, microwave, refrigerator), bathroom with walk in shower, turret room with large screen TV, free wifi, washer and dryer.
Stone work is currently being completed on the turret on the house but all work stops when guests are here. If you have an interest in the granite history of the area the host will do demonstrations or arrange tours of the island quarry for no extra charge. (he loves to talk about stonework)
  • Truly a unique and special place. Fred was a great host, helpful and respectful! We would definitely stay again.

    Kevin2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful apartment connected to their home with plenty of privacy. Convenient location only 5 minutes from downtown Rockland. The hosts were wonderful, we highly recommend staying here and we will be back again!

    Danielle2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful space.

    Jonathan2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • The greatness of Airbnb is that it's possible to stay at such terrific apartments for less than a hotel and to also meet interesting and gracious people like Fred & Nud.

    Gary2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • I would highly recommend Fred’s place as it is close to all the local attractions, easy to find, and yet nicely secluded for a peaceful stay. Fred was an amazing host with tons of knowledge and really amazing hospitality that you just don’t find anywhere. Everything was sparkling clean and beautiful, will definitely be back for another stay!

    Matt2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Fred & Nud are such warm and wonderful hosts of a beautiful space, which is even more amazing than the photos. We instantly felt right at home, but also enjoyed luxuries (i.e. all of the beautiful stonework, the amazing walk-in shower) you couldn't normally find at a hotel. We would love to come back again and highly recommend The Granite Chateau to anyone who has a chance to visit.

    Hadley2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • There are many reasons to stay here. The location is prime, close to the beach and down town. The place has a modern Hobbit hole vibe, very beautiful and unique. Fred is also an amazing host, he's very welcoming and offers really great suggestions on things to do or places to eat. He's also one of the kindest people I've met.

    Caroline2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • If you are staying in the Rockland area, you MUST stay at the Granite Chateau! Fred's gorgeous home in Owl's Head is a work of art, and Fred and Nud are the warmest and most accommodating hosts you will ever meet. If you are there in the winter months, even your feet will be toasty from the radiant heating under the floor! We can't recommend this sanctuary enough and look forward to our next visit.
