Places to stay in Goleen
Situated in an elevated position to catch the evening sun in our beautiful Harbour Garden sits our Eco Cabin, which is little more than 500m from Goleen main street. This "Tiny House" is ideal for a couple but can sleep 5 with the fifth bed more suited to a child on the mezzanine, and a sofa bed in the living room. The space is light filled with views down through the garden and across the head of the harbour to the village. There are decks front and rear plus a fire pit at the back.
Designed and made by us the space is contemporary, light filled and warm. Birch ply lined walls and custom made furniture mixed with Douglas fir joinery blend to give our Tiny House a unique calm feel . The bathroom has a thermostatic rain shower and eco waterless toilet that is easy to use and odor free. The 3 seater sofa in the lounge easily converts to a double bed and kids love the single bed space on the mezzanine reached by ladder. Our guests can sit on the front deck and enjoy the beautiful garden, sit around the fire pit at night toasting marshmallows or they can sit on our harbourside benches and take in the view. We also have a Harbour cliff walk available to guests most of the time on our 38 acre farm. Please note the Wifi signal is very poor inside the cabin with the doors shut, it is easily available just outside on the deck and in the garden.
Goleen is a very small village with a well stocked small shop, a cafe, good fish and chip shop and 3 Pubs plus Herons Cove restaurant. The surrounding area is beautiful with Crookhaven, Barleycove beach, Mizen and 3 Castles Head a few km away.
  • We had the most amazing couple of days staying here. Matt was always really responsive and met us and gave us a quick guide around the house. The house itself is incredibly comfortable and has absolutely everything you would need for a self catering holiday. The views and walks surrounding the cabin are absolutely amazing also. Although weather wasn't on our side for the weekend, the cabin is so comfortable and has such lovely homely touches, we didn't once feel like we were getting restless. Although we didn't need anything extra from Matt during our stay, we never felt like we wouldn't be able to reach out if there had been an issue. We would love to come back and stay again. Thank you!

Our classic caravan is now situated in a sheltered, tree lined valley at the entrance to our 38 acre Organic farm at the head of Goleen Harbour . We offer discounts on our hire bikes, Archery Tag, and other family friendly activities Goleen High Street is 500m away, Crookhaven just 4km offering restaurants and dining plus the expansive sands of Barleycove beach. Schull is a 15 minute drive. Our place is on the sea, It's good for couples, solo adventurers, and families (with kids).
Our Caravan sleeps 4 adults and one child with a double bedroom at one end and a seating area at the other which becomes a large double and also a kids single. The Kitchen has a 3 ring gas burner, cold tap, sink and a cool box which we supply new cool blocks for daily. There is also a freezer space available in the barn. It is a "dry" van so we have an outdoor shower and compost toilet close by. The caravan is by the sea, in a tree lined valley giving privacy and shelter with a deck at the front where you can sit, take in the view of the small harbour and listen to the waves entry lap the shore. Wifi is also available. Our caravan is getting on in years not everything works as it did when it was new. Think budget harbourside accommodation.
Our harbour is a hidden gem where you can see Heron's, Swans and other Sea birds, Goleen is a small, friendly village, un-spoilt by over development with a shop, pubs and places to eat on the Wild Atlantic Way. It's a short drive or cycle from the popular tourist destinations of Crookhaven and Schull. Ireland's most South Westerly point Mizen Head with it's Visitor Centre and Iconic bridge is just 8km away with 3 Castle's Head once the O'Mahony Clan's stronghold a little further. Not forgetting the expansive Barleycove Beach a great surf spot. There certainly is no shortage of things to see and do in our area.
  • Great experience, a perfect getaway. We loved it!

  • Excellent family weekend away in beautiful location 5 minutes walk from the Mizen village of Goleen. The caravan is comfy and has everything one needs but Matt is there to help out if you need anything. Lots of walking, cycle trails and activities to be had at Goleen Harbour farm, and so much to see and do in and around Mizen too. Three Castle Head is a must. If your looking for something a little bit different in a stunning part of Ireland then Goleen Harbour farm is the place to check out.

  • We had a great stay at Matt's place, and met lovely people there.

  • The Goleen Harbour Farm is a little gem in a beautiful setting. A meadow with horses at the back, a tree house right beside the caravan and access to the water at the front provided loads of excitement for the children. We are a family of 5 with children aged 8, 11 and 14 and really enjoyed our stay there. The caravan was neat and clean with cooking rings and solar-powered electricity. It also includes a veranda and a fire pit for toasting marshmallows! In the surroundings you have great cycling tracks, stunning beaches and incredible hikes. Matt is a wonderful host - full of knowledge and happy to help. We can certainly recommend this place and are hoping to come back soon.

  • We had a great stay for a week here in Goleen and found it hard to leave. The property had everything we needed and there was lots of room for us all - a family group of 7 including a Grandmother who really enjoyed having her own space downstairs. The house was very clean and comfortable with spacious fridge, freezer, washing machine, excellent cooking facilities, a bathroom/shower for each room and even wi-fi - nice little extras that definitely make life easier. Goleen itself has pubs, an info centre, café, a takeaway selling halloumi burgers and veggie sausages (for us vegetarians) and a shop that seems to be almost permanently open! Fantastic location to explore the wilds of West Cork and two genuinely lovely beaches within a few minutes drive at Barleycove and Ballyrisode. A lovely part of the world and a great place to stay - thanks Sherri!

  • A great location close to the Wild Atlantic Way! Mizen Head and Barley Cove beach were amongst the highlights of our stay. Clean, eco friendly accommodation with all facilities needed for cooking outdoors. We loved the beautiful garden and the tree house for our eight year old to play in!

  • As seasoned campers we knew what to expect when camping and this was a real treat. A sweet and spacious pitched bell tent, a little gas cooker with a few pots and pans, a hot shower, composting toilet and all set in a lovely little garden which felt private. Matt was very informative about the local area and is a fine, relaxed host. Good local pub, and village shop. Enjoy!

Toilet, showers and cooking area are well kept, there is no electricity but this wasnt a problem just bring a portable/solar phone charger if needs be! Lovely colloqial feel to the surrounding area and Matt gave us some great places to eat! Would recommend all round.

  • Lovely laid back relaxing stay. Tent is surrounded by beautiful plants and wild flowers. Keeping the bees happy ! Also so quiet had a great nights sleep. We usually go camping but this is a step up from that not having to sleep on floor or in sleeping bag was great. Little kitchenette with stove so handy. Toilet and shower on site too. Great value for money and our son loved it. Thanks Matt!

Our place is just outside Goleen, on the road west to the famous Barleycove beach. It's a great place for fresh air, great walking and cycling, beautiful views, and access to Ireland's Wild Atlantic coast. The nearby villages of Goleen and Crookhaven have great pubs, with great food and great company. You’ll love our place because of the location, the outdoors space, the friendly local people, and the views. Our place is great for couples, for groups, and especially for families with kids.
Auburndale is a modern bungalow with three bedrooms. The master bedroom has a double bed. The second bedroom has twin beds, with an additional third bed also available. The third bedroom is great for kids, with bunk-beds. From the front of the house we have views out to the Atlantic and Cape Clear island. The house has a main family bathroom, and an additional WC. Facilities include a washing machine and dryer. In the garage we have some beach equipment, such as windbreakers and kids' body-boards, which guests are welcome to use. The house is on about an acre of land, with extensive space available on three sides of the house. The grounds are child-friendly, as there is a wall around the front of the garden, and the gate to the drive-way can be closed shut. The house is well-suited to young children, as we have a high-chair and cot available for guests to use.
The house is just about 1km west of Goleen, a small harbour village with four pubs, a cafe, shops and restaurants. We are on the road that heads out towards the famous Barleycove (or Barley Cove) beach, the Mizen Head, and the Three Castles Head. We are only c.8 km from Mizen Head, the most south-westerly point in Ireland, with its 400 feet cliff walks and award-winning Maritime Centre and 5km from Crookhaven with its famous pubs and watersports facilities. • Great spot!! Lovely views and well equipped and not too far to walk to the Fast net pub... Lovely!

  • Martin was most helpful and pleasant to deal with. We really enjoyed our stay. This was a return visit for us, and we’ll hopefully be back again - what better review can we give! The house is perfectly suited for a young family - clean, well equipped, secure gated garden, and just a few minutes from Barleycove. An ideal getaway. Thanks a mill Martin.

    Cathal2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect base for exploring West Cork. It’s a 5 minute drive to Barleycove beach which is just beautiful. There’s also two small beaches at the nearby Ballyrisode, great for little kids. Schull is 10-15 minute drive away and has a large Centra for groceries. Goleen Village is within walking distance but you need to be careful on the road as there’s no path with plenty of bends. The locals in Goleen were very friendly and for such a small village it’s constantly busy. The house is great for small children - we have a toddler and it was perfectly safe for her to roam around in. If you want peace and quiet in the countryside with a sea view that’s close to beaches and amenities, Martin’s house is definitely one to consider.

    Linda2019-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • Martins house was perfect for our holiday. It is convenient to both the beach and the local village. It is clean inside and out and has a big secure garden for the kids when you are not on the beach. Highly recommended.

  • We had a very nice time at Martins house - with great facilities and being very clean, we could not have asked for more. We really enjoyed the location and went for lots of walks.

  • We really enjoyed our stay in Goleen. The house was clean, comfortable and spacious. It was really well equipped with everything we needed including a baby high chair and travel cot. The large enclosed garden would be ideal for families with young children. Its in a beautiful part of West Cork, and a great base for lots of touring. Barleycove Beach was only 3miles down the road. Martin was a great host and gave us lots of local recommendations before our arrival. Thank you for a great stay.

    Olive2018-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • This house was such a relaxing break away from it all. The house had a fab garden all around it & sea views- great for long evening BBQs, football, kids plaything or just chilling with books. The house itself is very 70s but I kind of like that for a holiday place - like my Granny's - familiar and simple! Plus it's so spacious and the living room with sea views is just a great place to chill out. Goleen town just down the hill is a lovely with a great coffee shop, small supermarket and bars. Plus a great playground for under 8s. Good restaurant called Heron Cove. The beaches around here make it though. We had fab weather so got to try so many - lucky us!

  • This is a very special house in a very special place. Everything you need is in the house and more besides...comfortable beds, cotton bed linen, fluffy towels, a very well equipped kitchen, comfortable places to sit and lots of interesting books to look at. We loved it...even down to the cushions for the patio furniture! A great holiday.

  • We were blown away. We loved staying in a traditional Irish cottage with all the modern touches. It was cosy and warm and had everything we wanted for a wonderful stay. The scenery was amazing and we were all very impressed with the work that Bridgette has done to save this house.

  • Pretty, tastefully decorated and well appointed cottage in a secluded, secluded location with fantastic views of the bay of Dunmanus. Beautiful garden where robins, wren and rabbits say goodnight. If you prefer peace, nature and good air to the city bustle, is right here. Excursions are plenty in the area (Mizen Head, Barley Cove, Bantry ...), who wants to start up to Killarney (National Park), must get up early to be back in the cottage before sunset. The nearest supermarket is not just around the corner, so better for the first night take something to eat. A charming, soothing place where you can relax, breathe deeply - and (with a bit of luck) even sunbathe!

    Simone2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely, unique cottage, we loved our stay here, amazing views from every angle of house, lovely garden, stove to enjoy. Great location & comfy, cosy house, loved it! Filled with character

    Jamie2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed 2 adults and 2 children aged 4 and 6 and had a lovely time. It's a beautiful location with a stunning view. I would highly recommend anyone to stay here. Other things worth mentioning - The stairs may be too much worry for parents with children under 4. Also if you are nervous with driving the road to the house is quite narrow. 5 stars from me it was just what the doctor ordered !!

  • Amazing views and and house! Lovely peaceful base for exploring west Cork. Safe secure garden, we had a lovely break here. Thank you!

  • This is a wonderful house, creatively finished with personal touches, with amazing views of the bay. Lovely safe garden. It is a great location to explore Skibbereen, Bantry, Goleen, Mizen & Schull while being able to return to a secluded, peaceful and quiet home. Ask the wonderful neighbours for directions to Canty's cove where you can hear little except the stream meet the sea. Also check out Ballyroside beach. Great break, we will be back!

If you were any closer to the water you would be on a boat! Beautifully appointed apartment with stunning water views. Located across the harbour from the scenic village of Crookhaven. "The Boathouse" has one large bedroom, living room, modern bathroom and kitchen with breakfast counter and dining table. There is a small patio with panoramic views of the harbour. Use of private gym available upon request. Dogs are welcome! Not suitable for small children (dangerous drops to water)!
It is possible to accommodate two additional guests on the pull out couch in the living room (additional charge of €10 per night per person) but please message me first as the space is not appropriate (dangerous) for small children.
Close to Barley Cove Beach, Galley Cove Beach and Cockle Strand. 3 miles to Crookhaven and Goleen.
  • The Boathouse is situated practically on the water.. not suitable for children but for anyone who loves the outdoors...walking, hiking, swimming, boating it's all there & more. We found it very comfortable, warm, kitchen had all we needed. Wonderful hot shower & spacious bathroom. Living area was perfect with lovely comfortable couches & the most wonderful views over the water... we had the moon on two nights!! Internet was not good but for us it nearly added to our enjoyment as we listened to music, read our books in other words we totally chilled out. We visited in the hight of the winter & I can only imagine what it would be like in Summer... sitting out looking across the bay at Crookhaven. That would be my idea of heaven.

  • Amazingly relaxing and peaceful place. Beautiful sunrises, stunning beaches and some cracking pubs. Lanna has put a massive effort into the decor with lots of little touches. Highly recommended.

    Sean2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Outstanding location & facilities. Lana was a great host making sure everything was clean & ready for our arrival. She shared local knowledge to help make our stay better. One of the best Airb&b I’ve stayed in!

    Conor2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • One word....AMAZING...this has got to be the best air bnb in West Cork. The views from the property are amazing, a three minute drive from possibly the best beach in Ireland where our two dogs absolutely loved, book this place you will not be disappointed. Lanna is an exceptional host who naturally ensured the balance between helpfulness and privacy was just right at all times. The property was perfect for us and our two dogs and the little welcoming dog treats were a special touch. We will be back 110% and when I win the lottery I will be making her an offer :).........TOP CLASS

  • We spent a fantastic 6 nights at the Boathouse, getting a much needed rest in peace and tranquillity. So much so that we are already planning our next stay there! Lanna is a great host, really lovely to chat with, with really detailed local knowledge. With spectacular views, it is easy to pass a lot of time just looking out at the water (warning: once you have spotted a seal, you will spend a lot of your time looking for others!) The boathouse is much larger than it appears in the photographs, and is furnished to a very high quality. Thanks Lanna, really looking forward to coming back :)

    Steve2019-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • The Boathouse is a lovely place with great views directly above the water. The area is beautiful, quiet and perfect to relax. There are four lovely beaches in less than 5 minutes drive. Lanna and her dog are very friendly and made our stay very comfortable.

    Janika2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed staying five days at Lannas place. The scenery is quite amazing since one overlooks the whole Crookhaven harbor and the house is literally only a few meters away from the sea. Everything was as described, Lanna is a very welcoming host, and we got many valuable tips for hikes in the area.

    Philipp2019-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful spacious property right on the water. The views were magnificent. Located between the lovely villages of Crookhaven and Goleen, and Barleycove beach, which are all a short drive away.
  • This house is amazing. Clean house, great quality appliances and kitchen utensils, books, DVDs, yoga space, fire place, quiet, stars, wind, and the view.

  • The View. The View. The Hike. The View. We wanted solitude and we got it. Amazing place for a family getaway or a group. Close enough to the village of Goleen but amazingly tranquil. We have never stayed in a place with such an amazing view. It makes Big Sur look like Coney Island.

High on the hills between Goleen and Crookhaven you will find The Fastnet Cottage. The Fastnet Cottage has a loft bedroom and small living area that is part of a small enclave of houses, all owned by the same family. The Fastnet Cottage and Knockagullane, along with a double bedroom located above the boathouse, are available to rent separately or in any combination. The family’s main house is not rented out.
  • We had a wonderful trip. The location is spectacular, with a direct view out to Fastnet Lighthouse. Plenty to see and do in the local area. We had excellent communication with the hosts who were generous and responsive. Highly recommend!

Our Cottage is a 10 minute drive from Schull, close to some great local restaurants offering gourmet dining, award-winning pubs, sensational views, beautiful beaches, and family-friendly activities. You’ll love our house because of the privacy, cosiness, the comfy beds, and the high ceilings. Suaimhneas is great for couples, families (with kids), and furry friends (pets).
The house is private with plenty of parking space but not isolated. Dunmanus pier is nearby to stroll to in the evenings. If the weather is good there are spectacular sunsets to see from the porch.
"Suaimhneas" is on the coast road to Barley Cove. There are beautiful walks on your doorstep. We are a short drive from Schull, Goleen and Durrus and within easy access of beautiful beaches, sightseeing etc.

  • ‘Suaimhneas’ is an amazing property with magical views of the surrounding countryside. Access to walking & swimming opportunities is within a stones throw from the house. It’s a wonderful base from which to explore all that West Cork has to offer. Mona&John are super hosts. They were both warm and welcoming to my husband and I at all times. As avid dog lovers we were searching for a pet friendly property. This house provided a safe environment for our two dogs. We would definitely recommend this property to other travelers. We ourselves hope to make a return visit next summer.

  • Suaimhneas is a superb property with beautiful views of Dunmanus Bay. We were a family of 10 (6 adults and 4 kids under 3) plus 2 dogs and we felt that we had plenty of space. Mona has thought of everything with regards to the amenities within the house, the kitchen is super for those self catering, there is so much stuff! Mona is a wonderful host, so thoughtful and welcoming. We really enjoyed our stay, the house is in a lovely quiet location but a few minutes drive in the car and you are in Schull.

    Suzanne2018-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • The house is beautiful and well maintained. John and Mona have everything provided in the house and have thought of everything. The house is in a great location just outside Schull - with a lot of things to do in the surrounding areas. We were only there for one week but could easily have stayed longer there is so much to do.

It is a bijou property consisting of a loft bedroom (2 singles/1 double) with a small terrace facing the hills above Dunlough bay, a cosy kitchen and living area heated by a wood burning stove and a dining room/sunroom looking onto the farm courtyard. Extra beds can be set up to sleep up to four people for an additional cost of €20 p.p per night.

  • The Tack Room at Three Castle Head is a little piece of heaven. A cosy space with everything you could need situated in a gloriously remote and wild area of Cork. We stayed during a storm with weather warnings for wind and rain but it only added to the charm. Ensure you bring any food supplies you think you might need because once you get there you won’t want to leave. Joanne had the stove lit for us when we arrived and delicious brownies left in the fridge. Highly recommend staying here.

    Gary2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Bucket list place to stay, amazing and I'm just speechless. Myself and family enjoyed every second minute hour at the tackroom cabin. Joanne is a lovely host, genuine kind and very helpful. Arrived with the fire on and chocolate brownies in the fridge. We had no milk for a cuppa, 5 minutes later Joanne was at the front door to the rescue. We are definitely returning next summer for sure! Thank you so much Joanne!

  • We had a wonderful winter stay at the Tack House. Joanne had the drive logging when we arrived so the place was super cosy. Homemade brownies too! Plenty of hot water for the lovely bath. Space was spotlessly clean. Met their lovely dog, Gizmo that joined us on a local walk.

    Sarah2019-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! What an amazing place. The property is gorgeous, and a stone throw from your door to the cliffs. The apartment itself is so astounding it is hard to leave, but the area is so beautiful that it gets you out. Joanne had recommendations and was very accommodating. There were other cliff heads and coves very close to check out, and a handful of villages. Highly recommend!

  • Wow, what can I say that hasn't already been said. Jackie and Jonathan are such fantastic hosts. We received such a warm welcome from them and their two fur babies Safron and Elsa who are two of the calmest most gentle dogs I've ever met. Rock Cottage is in such peaceful surroundings. There are beautiful walks around the property. The house is very well equipped. As a chronic pain sufferer one of the things I dread about going away is the quality of the mattress on the bed but this was one of the most comfy mattresses I've slept on!!! Can't recommend Rock Cottage highly enough. It was just fabulous.

  • Simply ... ..fantastic, a very pretty house with an incredible cachet and perfectly equipped, perfect cleanliness. In the middle of nature in the beautiful peninsula of Mizen Head, you will be very well received by Jacqueline & Jonathan who will do their utmost to make your stay pleasant and unforgettable as well as their many animals (dogs, cats, donkeys etc. ..) A perfect address to enjoy, relax, visit one of the most beautiful regions of Ireland

  • Rock Cottage is a great ‘find’ and a perfect base for exploring the area. ! Friendly hosts - complete with friendly retrievers, cats, donkeys, ducks and hens! Cottage was perfectly presented and all amenities were there - laundry room arrangement was very good. Would love to go back one day!

Come and stay in this beautiful cottage situated in Crookhaven, an amazing village in the South West of Ireland. Affectionately known as "Davies", this house has the look and feel of a lived in home and the perfect destination for a relaxing holiday.
Traditional cottage in beautiful Irish village. Walking distance from all that Crookhaven has to offer. A home away from home.
The tiny hamlet of Crookhaven lies about as far down in south-west Cork as you can go without falling into the sea - tucked snugly on the sheltered side of a narrow neck of land which creates a deep inlet - the 'crooked haven' which gave the little settlement its name. It's the very epitome of a sleepy fishing village. Brightly-coloured boats bob at anchor; pastel-coloured cottages slumber in the sunshine along the sloping street. A pub spills tables and chairs out on to the quayside among the drying fishing nets, a small shop sells groceries and postcards as well as shrimping nets, buckets and spades. It looks as though nothing ever has or ever could happen to disturb its peace.
  • Fantastic House, spotlessly clean with everything you need to make it a home from home. The house was lovely and cosy with lots of personal touches that made me want to stay longer than our 3 nights. I would highly recommend Davies Cottage and would love to stay there again.

  • We had a fantastic stay in this lovely cottage. It was not only very cosy and homely but also spacious. We found it very easy to relax and feel at home. The location is also superb with great access to the local amenities. We would definitely consider staying here again and would happily recommend it to friends in the future.

  • House was spotless, fantastic view and facilities, not even a minutes walk to the local bars / restaurant / shop would highly recommend for anyone exploring west Cork. Hosts are great to deal with, very helpful.

  • Davies cottage is a lovely home, our second time staying here, everything you could need is provided, all mod cons, spotlessly clean and super comfortable sofas and beds. Garden is just perfect, fully fenced and lovely views, plus when the sun shines, it’s so sheltered making it a warm sun trap. Hope to stay here again. Must mention the village too, great and friendly people. Thanks Jamie

  • Cute and comfortable cottage in one of the most beautiful places on the planet!!! The cottage was comfortable and warm. The electric blanket was on. There were fresh cut flowers in the kitchen table. A two minute walk to the pier and pub and restaurant. A fifteen minute walk to a quiet and very beautiful beach. Mary was lovely and welcoming!

Goleen is a small village with its own small secluded harbour. The village has a tourist office/Internet cafe, shop, coffee shop, 3 pubs, chipper and a lovely restaurant Heron's Cove. The locals are very welcoming and helpful.
  • Three generations of our family spent a wonderful August week in Catherine's beautiful home. The location is second to none, with beautiful surrounding views and so much to see and do within driving distance. The house itself has everything you might want for a very comfortable stay and still felt spacious with ten of us taking up residence. I couldn't recommend this house highly enough and we hope to return again soon!

    Ruth2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • This house is amazing. The photos on the Airbnb website were lovely, however, it was even nicer in reality. The comfortable couches and chairs, the lovely big table, the well stocked kitchen, the fabulous view, the space, both inside and outside and the comfortable beds. We were in heaven! Catherine always responded speedily to any query we had. We would highly recommend this house.

    Virginia2019-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying at Catherine and Andrews beautifully restored farmhouse. The house was very comfortable and in a beautiful location just outside Goleen village with stunning views of the sea. It had a large open plan living kitchen dining area which was well equipped and perfect for a large group. The extensive gardens were perfect for relaxing in the evening while enjoying lovely sunsets looking out towards Cape Clear and other islands. Catherine was an excellent host who went over and beyond to ensure we had a great stay. She also provided great information and suggestions for places to eat and things to do. I would definitely recommend this Airbnb to anyone family looking to holiday in the Goleen/Crookhaven/ barleycove area.

The Cosy Chalet is linked to "The Wild Atlantic Way". You will find fine scenery, superb beaches and lakes. All kinds of water-sport activities. Very good locally produced food, like cheese.
Who likes traveling knows the problem. Hotels can be quite expensive. One has to spend in the hotel for food and drinks. B&B's are sometimes offering small rooms with none or minimal cooking-facilities. You will miss your own private living-room. Holiday-houses are often only on a weekly base to get. They are sometimes too big. You can land "in the middle of nowhere" and with no reception. With our ambitious and new concept we try to make things a little bit better for you. Our accommodation is "All Inclusive"! Only the use of the washing machine (incl. washing-powder) and the tumble-dryer costs € 5 extra each. Bikes € 10/day We speak English, German, Russian and some French. You'd like to cook a lobster or you intend to smoke your self-caught Mackerel or Pollock, but you don't know how to make it. Please call us. How to find the cockles and mussels at the beach and how to make the legendary "Spaghetti Vongole". There would be so much to tell. You'll find "The Cosy Chalet" on our own 60.000m2 park, forest and lawns. Save Sandy Beaches 500m from our gate. You walk just across the road and you are on our private wood-lane to the sandy-beaches. The Cosy Chalet was 100 years ago may be a shelter for shepherds and their sheep. We had to demolish the walls and built it new. The Cosy Chalet is now a mix of old stone-walls and a massive oak-frame coming from England. Many interiors and paintings are true and period. It is a "One-In-All-Solution" on 2 levels. The Cosy Chalet offers 2 beds (80x200) in the attic, reachable with a stair/ladder. The attic has only a max. height of 1,50m. One cannot stand upright! There is a little "Velux" with may be the best sea-views. Because of the limited heights and the way to go up, we can recommend these beds only for younger people! All others find a sofa-bed on the ground-floor-level (120x200). Please consider that click-clack sofa is not as comfortable as a reall bed. There is a full size kitchen (that means absolutely everything you need, will be there.) of course with a full-size dishwasher and a dining-table. Bathroom with shower, sink and toilet. Sufficient tea-towels, bath-towels, even those for the pool will be there. Free Sat-TV (some hundred channels in many languages), DVD, CD, WiFi. Please understand, that you may have to run a little fire to make the Chalet cosy. You will get all logs for free. All logs are homegrown and perfectly seasoned. The good thing is, you heat with a long lasting positive effect to the environment. Your "South-Terrace" is built like an old Roman Road. There you will find chairs and a coffee-table. A second, westerly terrace, surrounded by Rhododendrons will provide you with a simple dining-table and benches. From there you have direct access to the natural swimming-pond (water is like swimming in a river, no clorine, no chemicals) and the decking with fantastic views over the Carbery Islands, Castles and Fastnet Rock. The is a shower with a fresh running water on the decking. The Cosy Chalet has 4 sleeping options and this is may be ok for one night or two. But to get a really cosy feeling we recommend it only for two people. The Chalet is not suitable for people with mobility issues(narrow door to the bathroom, step on the entrance, sleeping area in the loft). That was disigned for feeling-young-people and cupples And please no children who are not good swimmers. Pool! Or come with the bus and rent a bike here. Transports: Bus Eireann 2x daily from and to Cork. From our gate. Taxi nearby Ferry from Schull to Cape Clear (only summer) Good Restaurants in Schull, 10Km and surrounding: Irish, Spanish, French, Italian, Philippine Nearest good Restaurant, Heron's Cove, in GOLEEN, 4,5KM Schools in Schull Language School, Diving School, Sailing School in Durrus: Cookery School. • Cute fully equipped 'Tiny House'. Hannes is a great host. Great location near the beach. For the summer there is also a swimming pond, but the weather was too cold. I would like to come back and would also give 6 stars, if it were possible!

  • Hi Hannes, Thank you for making our holidays in West Cork very special. It is always the people that make a lasting impression in all our trips and you are certainly one of them. I am enjoying your homemade smoked mackerel pate and I added fennel fresh from our garden :) Special thanks to Florian for allowing us to join in his fishing escapade. It was so much seeing how the fish we got from the sea ended up on our plates. The smoking machine is so cool. You guys are the best people for gastronomic adventures :) Cheers from Maej & Dave

    Maej2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • The house is gorgeous, the property is well designed all the way up from the drive and you feel right at home at the top of the hill with the garden and decking and pool. Inside is very cozy, but there is plenty of space for four people to move around comfortably. There is no oven but everything else you could want in the kitchen. The hosts are very friendly and good fun. They were always helpful, knew a lot of places to eat and check out in the area and when we asked for some extra wood for the fire it was waiting for us when we got home. All of our highlights were nearby in the car, schull, barleycove, mizen head, Bantry are all a short drive away and the ballyrisode beach is 10 minutes walk down the road. Beautiful landscape and scenery to drive through. I would recommend this place to any small groups looking for a base in West cork or couples spending some time in the area.

  • Jackie & Jonathan are a lovely hospitable couple with a truly amazing property & grounds. we stayed in the Stables which was fantastic in every way with attention to detail that you don't often see. All their outhouse accommodation is both stunning & private. if you are planning on visiting this beautiful part of West Cork then we would highly recommend staying here. it had the added advantage of being pet friendly so we could bring our two beloved dogs (who got on great with their beautiful retrievers!). a basket full of logs, a lit fire, fresh eggs & honey awaited us when we arrived. that says it all really. being able to walk around the grounds was also an added bonus as its quite spectacular. thank you again, we will be back. Lovely, spacious room with modern en-suite wet room and private entrance. Driftwood House is located near Schull on the Mizen peninsula and on the Wild Atlantic Way. It is set in the most beautiful, tranquil surroundings looking out to sea and towards Mizen Head, and yet is only a few minutes drive from the vibrant town of Schull. The bed and breakfast room is on ground level. Breakfast is provided as a continental breakfast hamper in your room.
Driftwood house has a private, gated driveway with ample parking. Surrounding the house is varied garden with a large lawn area, a stream with small waterfall, a colourful rockery and a few palm trees too. The room has a king size double bed, Satellite TV and free wi-fi. There is a dining table and chairs, small fridge freezer, microwave, toaster and kettle. You are welcome to bring a dog with you as long as it is well behaved and sociable with other dogs. We have a small dog of our own (who is free to run around the garden) and a cat.
Our home is surrounded by beautiful countryside and coastline. The house is very private in its own grounds, and yet it is less than 10 minutes from the vibrant town of Schull where there are lovely places to eat, pubs with traditional music, interesting shops and a weekly country market. West Cork is rich in culture with many artists, musicians and actors choosing to settle here. There is always something happening locally from art exhibitions, film festivals and sailing regattas to theatrical productions and culinary events. It is also easy, however, to enjoy complete seclusion and peace if you wish. It is a 15 minute walk to the sea from the house, 8 minutes by car to the lovely beach at Ballyrisode and 20 minutes to the spectacular Barley Cove. The market towns of Bantry and Skibbereen are each 25 minutes by car where you will find a wider variety of shops and many interesting places to visit. Other activities available locally are sailing (there is an excellent sailing school in Schull), water sports, kayaking, pony trekking and there is a leisure centre in the hotel in Schull with a well equipped gym, swimming pool and sauna. Cork city is 100km- a bustling city with plenty to see and constant events throughout the year. We have been living here for 4 years and are still finding new places to explore and never cease to be overwhelmed by the beauty of West Cork and the warmth of the people.
  • The room rented Anne is a 10 minute drive from Schull (1 hour walk) and the environment of the peninsula is superb. The room and bathroom are comfortable and Anne full of attention.

  • Anne was the perfect hostess: warmly welcoming and very helpful when we needed but left us to get on when not. The fridge of breakfast items was always miraculously and generously restocked; the bedroom clean and well presented; the wet room spacious and the location excellent - wonderfully quiet and peaceful but very convenient for exploring West Cork. We’d highly recommend Anne’s place from all perspectives.

  • Anne has a beautiful home located in just 10 mins drive outside Schull. The house is tucked away in its own secluded spot in peaceful Lowertown which looks out roaring water bay out to Cape Clear, Sherkin and Fasnet. The house is ideally located for trips to Crookhaven, Barleycove Beach and Mizen Head. Anne keeps a very neat and tidy house which is very comfortable and as and added bonus, she is a Reflexology and Reiki expert with treatments available to book. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend to any prospective future guests. Paul & Paula.

  • Anne's place is perfect for one or two people who wish to have a relaxing place to stay while exploring the delights of the surrounding splendid West Cork scenery. Anne offers a bright comfortable room ( with double bed)with adjoining spacious bathroom/wet room. The price includes a generous self catered breakfast which includes, fruit , cereals, yogurt, and a selection of breads , croissants and jams. There are tea and coffee making facilities together with access to a fridge and microwave which we found very useful. Anne is nearby to welcome and offer help when needed but discreetly allows guests privacy to enjoy their stay. Perfect for us this past weekend as we were visiting family nearby.

  • Fantastic home in lovely place

  • My family and I loved this house. It was one of the best airbnb places we have stayed and the photos don't do it justice. The views are simply magnificent and the accommodation was very spacious and comfortable. Robert provided a cot and high chair too which was extremely useful. Provided you are happy to stay somewhere remote, this is a great place and I would highly recommend it.

    Mary2017-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Roberts House. Everything you need was available. We especially liked to sit in the panorama room with the fantastic view over the bay and to the Sheep's Head. From the neighbor's farmers we got fresh mussels -> excellent taste. We can highly recommend this house for any visit in the region.

    Thomas2017-06-10T00:00:00Z
  • Robert has created a little gem with magnificent facilities in a superb tranquil location. It is within easy reach of both Goleen and Schull. The views from the "Top of the world" road to Goleen are a beauty to behold. The property is really well modernised with all mod cons. Highly recommended. David.

    David2016-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • Robert is an absolutely attentive host. He is very helpful, nice and communicative. Robert lives during his presence continues a house, making it very accessible for questions or problems. Otherwise, Katherine, who is also very nice and helpful shall bear the votes or support. Katherine lives with her husband in another neighboring building. The location of the house is great! From the windows of cuisine, from the floor and from the small living room next to the main bedroom you have insanely beautiful views of the bay and the mountains opposite. The house is a total very generous with 3 baths, bath, showers, etc. It is in a new building condition and we enjoyed ourselves very much. All our contacts were simple, very nice and it was a pleasure to get to know this place. We will gladly return to spend a holiday with Robert.

  • We stayed with a lot of pleasure at Julia´s. This holiday home made his promise more than true. A great stay for rest seekers, nature lovers, sea lovers and tourists. The House is spacious and enquipped with all comforts. In addition, it offers a lot of privacy if you rent the House with several people. The view is more than beautiful and we were lucky to see a group of dolphins swimming in Dunmanus Bay. The welcome was warm. The area offers many opportunities. So we made: - lovely walks in the immediate vicinity of the house - a beautiful trip to Mizen Head - a beatiful walk on three Castles Head - an amazing boattrip to Cape Clear Island and Fastnet - a trip to Sheeps Head Peninsula - trips to Schull (harbour), Goleen, Ballydehob, Bantry We visited beautiful Barley Cove, Crookhaven and did a lot of succesfull birdwatching.

Journey's End is a traditional seaside cottage. You are steps away from Crookhaven - with pubs, restaurants and shop. Beautiful, sandy beaches are a stroll or short car ride away. The integrity of the original cottage is maintained in the front of the house complete with low ceilings and a wood burning stove. The back of the house opens out into a large dining area and conservatory with sweeping views across the harbour. There is a large patio area looking out to sea and a side garden.
  • Lovely house, very comfortable and relaxing. Less than 24 hours of being there, it felt like we’d been here for ages as so settled. Lana is great, very helpful. Hope to be back.

  • Great seaside location near to amenities and Crookhaven Pier, v. comfortable house and very helpful host. The place suited our family of 5 (2 adults and 3 children-13, 11 and 10) very well. We would highly recommend it as a family holiday home.

  • Journeys End is an amazing location, with wonderful sea views. Lanna is a fantastic host and has everything you could possibly need available in the house. Loved the stay with family and friends. The Irish heat wave helped with the beach trips 😎. Thanks Lanna.

  • it's a gem of a house with loads of character right on the waters edge and less than 3minutes walk from the village of Crosshaven. Lanna herself is the perfect host. Just a perfect getaway spot!

All has been converted to a high standard, with fully fitted kitchen, open plan dinning area / living room, and separate bedroom with a modern en suite shower room. All set in 17 acres of grounds set in a stunning location
The Location is on the Mizen Head & Goleen, the landscape, the surrounding countryside are unspoilt

  • Beautiful place in a superb location. Lovely and attentive hosts.

  • Upon arrival I was warmly greeted by my hosts, Jackie and Jonathan. I found the stables to be very clean and had all amenities needed for a comfortable stay. I found my stay at the stables only enhanced my overall experience of West Cork and I couldn't recommend the cottage highly enough. Thanks again and I hope to see you again soon.

  • Super warm and friendly hosts, nice farm with lovely animals an awesome private walking trail, very cozy and comfortable.

    Konstantin2019-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • I would highly recommend rock cottage as it is so modern, clean and peaceful and set in a wonderful location just over 10 minutes from Schull and a couple of minutes from the coast. Your host Jacqueline is wonderful and very helpful from start to end, from sorting out a small problem with the tv straight away, to wonderful tips on places to eat ad visit. They are there if you need them as well as giving you all the privacy and space you need. They have a wonderful array of animals, but we loved to greeting we got always got from their two friendly dogs that got on so well with our dog. There are a couple of restaurants near by, but we did not use them as we stayed out of season. The nights were cozy with the log burner burning away and the area that rock cottage is in is so scenic. We loved our stay and will be back in future.

    Jacqueline2019-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • This is a perfect stop in Ireland away from city and tourist-centric traps. The small towns within 20-30 minute drives offer great food, and the coastal drives provide beautiful geographic formations and amazing views/sunsets. The real pearl is Jackie and Jonathan's farm. The Stables are the most amazing space for a couple, very warm and cozy with full amenities, and the wood-burning fireplace made for the absolute best way to spend a rainy night in Ireland. Three nights were a great break in all our driving and city adventures, but a few nights more would be perfect! Hope to come back.

    Spencer2019-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time on our stay in the Stables. The accommodation was spotless and did everything that we needed it to and more. Our fresh eggs made for some nice breakfasts! The trip was made all the more enjoyable by our strolls, with the house dogs, around the farm seeing the donkeys and chickens!

    Brian2019-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • We had some wonderful days at the Stables. It was very well equipped and cosy. Jacqueline and Jon were super friendly and had some nice suggestions for us. We can only recommend to stay for a few days.

    Daniel2019-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • Fabulous location for our four day trip exploring West Cork. The stables was everything we could have hoped for and was a perfect 'home' for our short stay. Rock Cottage is so peaceful and is a wonderful way to escape from reality for a few days. Jacqueline and Johnathan were wonderful hosts and were super welcoming, however, the best welcome was saved for our 5 year old daughter from the two beautiful resident dogs, they truly made our daughters holiday - and to top it off she was able to feed the donkeys each morning. Words can't really do this place justice, and we look forward to returning and getting away from it all once more.

Callaros is a lovely 5 bedroom dormer house situated west of Goleen. This house enjoys lovely views over the waters of Goleen and Toormore Bays. Ideally situated less than 1km from Goleen village with easy access to the surrounding area.
Overlooking the famous Wild Atlantic Way the house is ideally located under 1km outside Goleen village with the nearby town of Schull being only a 15 minute drive away. Crookhaven & the beautiful Barleycove beach are only moments away by car.
    Peaceful walks. Remote beaches.
  • We spent a week at Colleras and loved it. Beautiful location, walk to shop, pubs etc. House very well equipped and user friendly for a big group, including kids loads of games and beach stuff in situ which we made good use of. Kitchen is small but fine, Cooker is a bit dated and the TVs too but all worked fine. Could do with some small water glasses but that's it, it had everything else. Showers good too plenty of towels provided. The area is fantastic, good restaurants and pubs, be warned to bring cash as a lot of places including the shop don't take cards. No wifi but the Mizen info centre in village has it. We will be back.

It comfortably housed myself, my husband and our young baby. We’ll have happy memories of feeding the fish in the pool each morning before setting out on an adventure. It’s a perfect place for exploring West Cork. Schull is close by and the nearby beach is lovely for swimming. Thanks to Hannes for such a superb place to stay on our holiday!

Perfect for two people, this lovely stone cottage is a peaceful haven. You'll be sleeping in a loft bedroom, while the spacious open plan living area, warmed by a wood-burning stove, is perfect for cosy evenings in. Add a sunroom with wonderful views over Dunmanus Bay, and you have the ideal spot to explore all that Schull and West Cork have to offer.
Fuchsia Lane is a quiet cottage, set in a secluded courtyard surrounded by farmland. The loft bedroom, which sleeps two, is exceptionally peaceful with comfortable beds. Downstairs the spacious living area includes a fully stocked kitchen and a lovely wood-burning stove. There's plenty of space for all your things, and the separate sunroom overlooks a private patio and garden with gorgeous sunset views. With uncluttered contemporary décor, in a traditional stone cottage, you get the best of both worlds. Fuchsia Lane is surrounded by a network of quiet roads, ideal for country walks, and just a few kilometres from beautiful sandy beaches. On the Wild Atlantic Way, it is a great base for a walking, cycling or watersports holiday, or simply a quiet retreat. You'll love the silence and the feeling of being far away from traffic and crowds. The cottage is a lovely place to stay all year round. If you enjoy quiet nights, plus plenty of space to cook the wonderful local produce, it is ideal. Meanwhile, Fuchsia Lane is a ten minute drive from Schull, one of West Cork's loveliest and liveliest villages, with pubs, restaurants, specialist food markets, and excellent watersports.
The cottage is 4 miles/6.5 km west of Schull, which is on the Wild Atlantic Way. We're close to beautiful sandy beaches and the extraordinary walks of Barleycove, Mizen Head, Sheep's Head and Three Castles Head, but there are also gorgeous local walks on the network of small roads around the house. There's very little traffic but you may have to make way for the occasional cow! You'll be spoilt for choice for things to do around Schull. Some of our favourites are Schull Farmers' Market on Sunday morning; a walk (or bike ride) to Ballyrisode for a swim - or to our secret favourite beach, only revealed to guests! Schull boasts more than its fair share of boutique-style shops, like Enibas for jewellery, Pebbles for fab Irish knits, and a great bookshop where you can sip coffee as you browse. You can book a day of sailing or kayaking at fairly short notice. Then a Friday evening exhibition opening at the Blue House Gallery - a great opportunity to meet local artists and art lovers. Follow it up with a pint at Newmans West or Hacketts and fish and chips at the pier for a perfect night out.
  • My niece and I thoroughly enjoyed our week at the cottage which combines comfort, charm and homeliness in a tranquil and private setting. I loved the bright open living space and the views out onto our garden and the Sheep’s Head peninsula beyond. We slept extremely well in our shared loft bedroom. Thank you so much Mairead for attending to our every need and for your kindness and welcome. The welcoming flowers from your garden were much appreciated. As mentioned in other reviews, the cottage is perfectly located for easy access to Schull and, for me the most magical sea /landscapes of West Cork. With our heartfelt thanks to you Mairead.

    Patricia2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying here, it is a very clean, warm and cosy place to stay. Schull and the surrounding areas have lots to do and Mairead was excellent with local tips of various places to eat and visit. Thank you!

    Alan2019-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • Mairead was an exceptional host and Fuschia Lane was an absolute dream to stay in. It's the perfect place to relax - nestled in a quiet, secluded spot just outside the vibrant seaside village of Schull. Mairead provides such a warm welcome - bits for breakfast for the first day and flowers from the garden on the table. She gave us loads of ideas for trips and activities around the area - the cottage is in such a fantastic location that stunning beaches, pretty walks and sites of historical and cultural significance are only about a 30 minute drive away. We can't recommend this place enough - thank you so much once again Mairead for welcoming us to your charming cottage!

    Zeena2019-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay and Mairead's welcome. Her tips on where to go for lunch and places to visit were very useful. The cottage is a home away from home and a peaceful place with good views. We would definitely say here again.

    Peter2019-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is wonderful for couples and Mairead really makes your stay very enjoyable. We really loved the garden and view and the cottage was incredibly well equipped . The bedroom is a little awkward with the low beams and one bed up against the wall but this wouldn't stop us returning.

    Gina2019-06-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time and Mairead was a terrific and generous host, so kind. We had our privacy but also felt we had someone there if we needed anything. The cottage is beautiful, all amenities you could want, while also being able to switch off, and decompress from busy working life, to relax and enjoy the space and the surroundings was such a pleasure. Plus some of the best nights sleep we’ve had in some time! We would definitely want to return and absolutely think everyone should visit, it was a fabulous experience. Thanks again for having us Mairead. Sharon, Laura & Luna (the cat!)

    Sharon2019-06-22T00:00:00Z
  • It was a wonderful stay at 'Fuchsia Lane'. Mairead is a very nice host! Especially the sleeping area in the upper area was good - we slept great. Furthermore, the own spring water and the ingredients from Mairead for breakfast were especially great. She is very attentive and has given us good tips. Dear Maired many thanks. We hope to see you again!

    Evi2019-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • This is a really beautiful cottage - great sense of light to the downstairs area and a great view (when the mist lifts!!). Its very clean and nicely decorated with lots of nice touches and lots of information on local walks etc. We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay there (too short sadly) and would be more than happy to stay again and to recommend it to friends. Thank you Mairead for the stay and your hospitality ! Anne & Sean. PS for overseas visitors - this is a really beautiful part of the country and while there are plenty of amenities, it is also less developed than some of our more popular spots for tourists, so a great place to stay to see an unspoiled part of Ireland !

Kenmare and the Ring of Kerry are a little further away through Bantry, or Clonakilty through Skibbereen. During the summer there are many local markets to visit, and there are many activities locally, including horse riding, golf, sailing, or walking.
  • We had an amazing week in Roberts beautiful home. We were a family of 6 adults & 5 kids. The house was a little further off the beaten track than we thought but totally worth it once we arrived. It was ideal for both kids and adults. Lots of open space, we had everything we needed. The view took our breath away, we had a BBQ almost every night, eventually we would move inside & enjoy watching the sunset over the bay. The setting is incredible, we enjoyed doing the 40minute ring walk each morning. The locals were very friendly. The house is a great base for visiting local attractions such as Barley cove bean, mizen head, Schull, goleen. You will definitely need a car for travelling if staying here. Highly recommend.

    Miriam2019-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • We loved Robert's place. First, it has amazing views, plenty of large windows. From the house there is a walk to an amazing spot where we discovered the fantastic esmerald color of the water. Second, there are four fully independent bedrooms with their exclusive bathroom. Third the outside space around the house is really nice for organizing a meal or play with the kids. Fourth, the common space, the best of all in my opinion is so convenient especially when the weather is unstable. The dinning, kitchen and living room areas have been smoothly integrated in such way that make a unique atmosphere in the house. Fiveth, the overall house is brand new and ingeniously designed. Last, the location is strategically closed to amazing sites such as Mizen Head and Three castle Heads. I highly recommend the house either to a large family as well as to grown up groups. We take with us home our mesmerised time at Robert's house.

    Pablo2019-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • This house has outstanding views of mountains and sea from the living room, couldn't be better. Location is very peaceful. Great for fishing, running, walking and nature.

  • Robert was super helpful before we arrived, he was eager that we had everything we needed for our stay. Mary, who looks after the house, welcomed us and was on hand to assist with any questions throughout our time at Joseph's. We had a fantastic week. The area is breathtakingly beautiful, wonderful for walking, running, cycling or just sitting outside and taking in the view. The house is incredibly spacious and well stocked. The living and dining area are great for a large group. We spent evenings sitting in front of the huge windows watching the changing light on the water and Sheep's Head peninsula beyond. You could never tire of this view. The house is in a great location for touring the area and visiting Barleycove beach. We will definitely be back!!

  • We had a fantastic stay in Schull. The accommodation is perfect and the views of Dunmanus Bay are just breathtaking. Our host Robert could not have been more helpful, and so was Catherine. The property is well located to explore West Cork and Kerry. We enjoyed our trips to Crookhaven, Barleycove Beach, Schull and Three Castles Head. We had a great week, and were blessed with good weather. We look forward to staying again really soon. Edith

  • Immaculate, modern, spacious, and peaceful home in an idyllic location. I would highly recommend for any family gatherings, or just some time away from the city. The roads to the house are not for the feint hearted, but certainly more than worth it for such a perfect home with breath taking views.

Our coastal bungalow is ideal for those seeking a quieter pace of life in rural West Cork and the perfect spot to enjoy sunny days and starry nights. Just a kilometre from Ballyrisode beach and 12km to Barleycove, this is the perfect setting for families looking to while away days on blissful beaches or walkers to explore the Mizen Head, Sheeps Head or the Beara Peninsula. An excellent base for touring West Cork's Wild Atlantic Way and a comfortable home to return to after a day of adventures.
The house is a 4 bedroom bungalow, with through living, dining and kitchen areas. The kitchen is well equipped for you to prepare and serve meals with a good range of cooking utensils, cutlery, dinnerware and glasses. We supply a small range of cooking oils, herbs and spices in a store cupboard which you are welcome to use. There is a selection of teas, including Barry's Tea, Pukka herbal teas as well as coffee and fresh milk and butter in the fridge on arrival. The bathroom has a bath with a shower in it and there is an additional separate WC. At the rear is a sizeable conservatory and plenty of space for parking cars at the front. A welcome breakfast is provided for the first morning and there is a starter bundle of logs for the wood burning stove. Donagh is an artist and a number of his paintings and oil sketches depicting local scenes are hung in the bungalow.
With the sea on the other side of the road, Mount Gabriel on the horizon and Ballyrisode Woods behind, Butter Road House makes for a tranquil get-a-way. The bustling market towns of Bantry and Skibbereen are each approximately a half hour drive away, with the nearest villages of Goleen and Schull (which also has a market during summer months) close by for provisions.
  • Perfect location, little gem of a place for experiencing the beauty of West Cork. Ballyrisode Beach is the perfect beach, safe, clean and with plenty to do, 2 mins drive from the house. The house is large and spacious and comfortable. There is no television, but we were prepared for this, but it has a great coffee machine! Tamsin left us some tasty sour dough bread which was a lovely touch.

  • My friends and I just spent a weekend in this lovely cottage. Tamsin gave us some great tips for the area and provided all the essentials for a breakfast. The house is spacious and there is a lot of room outside as well, perfect for kids. Surroundings were beautiful and it was very quiet. Very close to Mizen head, the beach and cute villages.

  • We had an absolutely perfect stay at Tamsin's place. We had a large group of 8 people and felt totally comfortable. You can tell a lot of work and love went into making this a beautiful home. It's close to Schull and Crookhaven and is the perfect spot to base yourself out of for exploring. We loved the glass atrium in the back, and the kitchen was nicely equipped! And Tamsin was very helpful when we had a couple questions about the area. Overall one of my favorite places I have stayed. I hope to come back soon!
