  • Had a really great stay a Nick’s cabin. Fantastic very private location, just shared with the kangaroos, possums, chickens and ducks. Great location as well to explore the Capertee Valley from.

  • We had an amazing time in Nick's cabin. Secluded, quiet and so peaceful. Lots of wildlife around and so much to do in and around the cabin. Nick is a great host who made sure we were really comfortable throughout the stay. We'll be back for sure!

  • A perfect retreat in the middle of the bush! Such a great getaway an easy drive from Sydney. Sitting on the balcony watching the wildlife was just what we needed. Thanks again Nick we'll be back again!

  • Nicks Cabin is an incredible place to stay. If you’re looking to escape all the stress and worries of everything, you need to spend a night here. You won’t regret it. I loved every moment of it and staying for one night wasn’t enough!!

    Adisen2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Nicks cabin was absolutely lovely. Our first wildlife encounter was driving up to the cabin when we spotted a beautiful male lyrebird, followed a couple of hours later by his mate having a drink from the dam. Kangaroos, possums and goannas dropped by to say hi in our little bush cabin and the view framed by the bedroom window overlooking the dam was a lovely way to wake up. My partner was fascinated by all the quirky touches left by worldly guests throughout the cabin, while I was content to lie in the verandah hammock soaking up the peaceful quiet. Would definitely recommend Nick’s cabin for anyone looking to get up close and personal with the Australian bushland while also feeling comfortably at home in a cosy cabin.

    Phoebe2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Nicks Cabin is a fantastic place to relax and recharge. The wildlife right on the doorstep was great and the peace and quiet was so relaxing we did not want to leave.

    Malcolm2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • We loved Nick’s place so much we stayed again! Perfect place to lower the brain waves in the Bush in such a cool cabin. Will be back again :)

  • Warramba is an exceptional house and property - there is so much to explore, and Edwina and Neil are generous hosts who are always at the ready should there be any questions. We enjoyed walks around the property, listening to the varied bird life (and to the frogs at night; can't forget them!), watching the changing sky, and enjoying this all spent with dear friends. It really doesn't get better than this. We are so looking to return visits in 2020 and beyond. Thank you!

    Christine2019-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • Edwina and Neil went above and beyond in every way from our beginning enquiry to the moment we left. Warramba is everything you expect of a beautiful country retreat with beautifully thought out homely inclusions. The highland coos were of course the highlight. We can’t wait to come back to Warramba again.

    Laura2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • There’s something magical about this one. The home has been designed in a way that makes you instantly relax and it compliments the surrounding landscape perfectly. There isn’t a window without a view. The farm is quiet, peaceful and worth the drive (which itself was very beautiful through the valley). If you’re looking to relax and get away but still have a touch of luxury this is the place. Will definitely be back.

    Simone & Michael2019-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • A charming sandstone cottage with the most divine attention to detail. Warramba was the tranquil country get away we needed. The perfect alternative to staying in town, but still an easy drive to the Mudgee and Rylstone wine regions. We cannot wait to stay again.

    Sarah2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Warramba is an exceptional property and home and we are so thrilled to have become regular visitors to such a special location. Walks around the property, cooking delicious meals, reading, relaxing and enjoying the company of our dear friends make for the most special times and Neil and Edwina have given us the best-of-times roadmap in sharing Warramba with all of us. Thank you both so very much and we are so looking forward to our next visit.

    Christine2019-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • Warramba is a beautiful country home in such an idyllic setting. This was our second time staying at Warramba and it was as magic as the first stay. It's our no.1 Airbnb place! Lovely sandstone home, beautifully styled with small little touches to make you feel right at home. Highly recommend booking a few nights (at least) at Warramba!

    Sophie2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Magnificent home. Breathtaking location. Amazing amenities. Lovely linens. The very best Airbnb I have ever stayed in. I cannot wait to return.

  • Warramba is a special place and we really enjoyed our stay. It is very secluded and peaceful. Sitting outside and watching the sunset and saying hello to the Highlands cows were highlights. The cottage is very clean and comfortable and each room is styled perfectly. Perfect if you are looking for a complete escape.

  • You hear so often "best place" and "would come again", but Angus' stunning farm stay is the gem among them all. From feeding alpacas, to bottle feeding a baby wombat, and evening chats around the fire, this stay was breathtaking. We are already planning our return trip.

    J2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Angus's house is in a nice and quiet place inside the farm, he gave us a very clear direction on how to get there. House is super clean and tidy. In the morning, we can see a lot of alpacas and wombat around, my son was very enjoying the animals. Angus is a very friendly person and we had a nice conversion. Angus is not only provide accommodation, but also provided a good experience.

    Ying2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Angus's place is a beautiful hideaway out in the country! Surrounded by amazing scenery, the cottage is homely and very comfortable. Angus & his friend made us feel welcome from the minute we arrived. He showed us around and we met and fed the alpacas, which was great! The highlight especially for my wife, was meeting Betty, a 1yr old rescue wombat, who is at home sleeping next to the dogs. Angus is incredibly knowledgeable and I truely appreciated being able to share such down to earth honest conversations with him & his friend. Thank you for a great stay, we will certainly be back.

    Tim2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic experience in an amazing location! Highly recommended! We will come back for sure! Thanks again for this amazing weekend Angus!

  • The Gundangaroo Alpaca & Olives farm is a hidden gem tucked deep within the idyllic valleys by the Wollemi National Park. We cannot ask for a more unique farm experience than what Angus has to offer here. From the breathtaking landscape that changes throughout the day to the inquisitive alpacas that roam his land and the many friendly fur babies on the property, our family had the most beautiful time interacting with all of them. Angus’s warmth and friendliness made us feel welcomed at his cosy home the moment we arrived. He is a wonderful host and great company who peppers our conversation with lots of humour. We miss everything about this wonderland of exotic songbirds and wildlife in the wee morning to the night skies dusted with millions of stars. Our time at Angus’s place is both relaxing and rejuvenating. We only wished that we could have stayed longer than 2 nights. Thank you for making our stay so memorable, Angus. We will love to visit again.

    Xiao Xian2019-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • The best ever Airbnb experience. I don't think we come around similar experiences for many years. Our mistake was to stay just a night, we should have stayed at least two nights. If you have kids, don't hesitate to go for it. Kids love this place. If you want peace this is the place. It is very clean and very well maintained. Thanks, Angus, we will meet again.

    Yaser2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • Great farm stay surrounded by beautiful mountain scenery and friendly alpacas. Angus was a warm and attentive host who welcomed us into his home. Arrive, unwind and enjoy the conversation

    Jean-Paul2019-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Angus’s property is nestled under the foothills with a lovely view out over the paddocks graced with alpacas and olive trees. Beyond this are the spectacular cliffs that are part of the Capertee Valley. Angus generously shares his home and time with you. The house was warm and inviting and we enjoyed a peaceful afternoon chatting with Angus on the verandah. If you want to relax and do absolutely nothing but enjoy good company, the peace and quiet and beauty of the area then this is the place to go.

We were astounded with the amount of love and spirit Nick spent over the the years to make this place what it is now. We enjoyed the company of Nick and Viv, admire them for who they are and what they do and learned a lot from them and their love story. Thank you Nick and Viv for giving us this amazing experience. Home consists of : - large living / dining room, 3 sofas around a wood burning stove. Air conditioning unit. - 3 reasonable sized bedrooms 1 queen sized bed with ensuite bathroom, bath / shower, basin and wc 1 double sized bed with ensuite bathroom shower, basin, wc 1 bedroom with 2 x double single bunks - newly fitted out kitchen with electric hotplate, fan oven, fridge/freezer microwave and reasonable selection pots, pans and basic necessities - large outside deck area over looking valley (and our small flock of sheep/ alpacas) All bedrooms and bathrooms have additional heating and the living room fire works well and helps heat the place in the depths of winter. Additional blankets are provided if needed for no additional charge. NB The basic tariiff assumes 2 couples staying for two nights. Additional guests are charged at $45pn.We are happy to quote for other permutations (including one couple only and longer stays ) just drop us a line and we will respond asap. The kitchen has most basics like coffee/tea/sugar/flour, some herbs/spices/ketchup and olive oil but if you turn up and find you left that crucial ingredient at home, your chicken has gone off, or you've run out of wine, then pop round and we will see what we can do to help. Being 30 mins away from the nearest shop means you learn to stock up well. we also sometimes have free range eggs when the chooks are laying (kids welcome to collect them if accompanied by an adult). The lounge has a TV, DVD player and iPod dock and the bunk room an old tv and dvd player for the kids, but no TV reception or wifi. We are happy to lend DVD's at no charge from our own collection provided they boomerang! There is no phone or mobile reception at the cottage but if you need to make a call / check emails then there is mobile reception and wifi in the immediate area around our house (120m away from the cottage). The cottage is a really comfortable place to stay and it's hard to describe but everyone that has been here has noted the really relaxing "karma" of the place. We are pet friendly ( we even have some kennels).
Bird watching, mountain bike riding , painting/sketching and bush walking are the obvious ones. Glen Davis has the old shale oil works and if you are feeling energetic you can walk the pipeline trail to Newnes in the Wolgan Valley (ask me if want a lift to the starting point) and avoid paying the $2000 a night at the Emerates resort. In summer there is a lovely safe spot to chill out in the Capertee River 10 mins from here, or 45 mins away the lovely Dunn's Swamp (which fortunately is nothing like the image the name conjures up). Sandy beaches, deep swimming areas, canoe hire, fishing, camping grounds and boat tours. Nearby Rylstone (45 mins) boasts the best dumpling restaurant in NSW (yep, weird I know, but true), the world's second best olive oil (missed out by a tiny fraction on the top slot), a couple of country pubs and the odd collectibles store. Mudgee and Bathurst are both about 75 mins or so. Gulgong (fantastic museum), Sofala and Hill End are all within a comfortable day trip. OR, you could simply sit out on the deck and enjoy a glass or several of your favourite tipple. Birders may wish to contact me directly and I will send a few links that may be helpful (but note that this site blocks all contact other than via here until a booking is made...sorry).
  • If you like farm stays, this is a must! The owners are incredibly thoughtful, welcoming guest with fresh baked bread and bubbles. The kids collected eggs for breakfast and fed the animals. They didn't want to leave. The scenery is stunning and the owners have lots of suggestions for local attractions. We will definitely be back. Too much to do in a short weekend.

    Tanja2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • A comfortable place with great views of the valley.

    Andrew2019-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • Homely cottage with dramatic cliff outlook. Some great areas to explore Wollemi National Park. The valley is amazing, lots of Roos and birds to spot. Neil is a great host easy to communicate with. Our daughter loved collecting eggs and feeding the farm animals. Neil is very accommodating with our dog too which is great.

    Georgina2019-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • We all enjoyed ourselves in the cosy cottage, the animals, the fresh bread, the NRL grand final under the stars and of course the hosts warm hospitality! It is a perfect location, the views are amazing and its very central to visit Glen Davis, Rylstone, Dunns swamp and a day trip to Mudgee . A shame to have to leave after only 3 nights as I would enjoy another couple days just hanging about here enjoying the views and going for walks in the valley.

    Sharina2019-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Great for the kids to experience feeding the animals, Neil was very accomodating with this and he had great tips and advice for area.

    Elizabeth2019-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • Neil's farm is the perfect getaway for some time in the country. We helped with some of the farm chores (voluntarily and happily), enjoyed fresh bread straight from the over (it was still steaming when we cut into it) and the serene backdrop of the Capertree Valley. Would definitely come back and would recommend to anyone looking to unwind and get away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

    Natalia2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay! Why...? The Capertee Valley is amazing and the place is perfectly located with great views. It's soooo quite and peaceful, a perfect spot to get away from the busy city life. The cottage is cosy, clean and has everything you need. The hosts Neil and Lesley were very welcoming, helped wherever they could and had great tips for things to do and see. The kids loved feeding the animals, and catching yabbies in the nearby dam. We will be back :)

  • Five of us guys had a great one night stay here and this place is an absolute gem. James was very helpful from the get go, helped us plan our glow worm tunnel trek better and also he was spot on his instructions. The pictures don't do justice for just how serene and breathtaking the place is. Kitchen was well stocked with appliances and utensils and crockery. There was a tv and we didn't find time to switch it on. The night sky you see there is priceless. Not to forget close encounters with kangaroos. Thanks so much James

I have maps and brochures here for you to take and am happy to help you plan the mos relaxing or adventurous visit. My giant poodle Peanut loves people and especially having his photo taken so please ensure you feel very comfortable with a huge fluffy dog wanting you to pat him. He lives and sleeps inside. The view here is amazing - at dawn view the sun rise without lifting your head off the pillow. At night watch the stars. My home sits up high and overlooks sports fields and mountains. It's really pretty and extremely quiet. There is rear access to bush land behind where you'll find plum and apples trees growing wild - right now there are lots of chestnuts. It's a great spot for sunrise photos.
The town is full of dinky di Aussie characters, all friendly. It's a very quiet, relaxed town. A no-frills country house set in the spectacular Capertee Valley. Enjoy a peaceful rural stay that is definitely off the beaten track. (There is no phone, internet or TV reception) The House Consists of a large bedroom with a double futon bed, lounge with open-fire, TV and DVD player. There is a selection of DVDs to watch or play one of the games in the lounge area. The kitchen has an electric stove and several appliances including a coffee machine. The bathroom has separate bath and shower.
It’s a magnificent place to explore nature and bird-watching. If you’re looking for walks: https://bushwalkingnsw.com/walk.php?nid=195 Another option is to take the road to the Coorangooba camp ground and then walk along the river into the gorge. Apparently there is a nice waterhole downstream but we haven't made it that far. You could also go on the works tour - https://www.tripadvisor.co.nz/Attraction_Review-g3720787-d12195374-Reviews-Glen_Davis_Ruins-Glen_Davis_New_South_Wales.html It's on Saturday afternoon at 1 (I think), there is usually a sign up advising the time. Also, there is usually someone up at the town campground in the community centre who could tell you about other walks.
  • Great location! And the views of the escarpment and local wildlife were mesmerising. If you want a peaceful retreat from city life this is the place.

  • Had a lovely couple of nights at Johns place, cannot recommend it highly enough. It had everything you could possibly need, and more - it felt like a home away from home. The indoor fireplace was a real treat and kept us toasty in the evenings. Very comfy bed. Loved opening up front doors and sitting on the step watching the birds in the morning. Such a beautiful part of the world.

  • John’s place is extremely charging. A great place to disconnect from the outside world and enjoy relaxing by the indoor fireplace. I would definitely recommend to my friends!

Check out the quirky townships of Kandos and Rylstone, explore the Wollemi National Park, head west to the wine regions of Mudgee or north along the scenic Bylong Valley Way. A great place to relax and take some time out and breath in the fresh country air and a great place to use as a base and explore the region.
THE BOWERS HIDEOUT is a small, studio style, free standing bungalow. It has recently been totally refurbished so it is fresh, clean and ready for guests. The property is situated on a very large double block with great views looking up to the Coomber Melon Mountain often with drifting fog and mist. The bungalow is fully self contained with well equipped kitchenette and en suite bathroom . We are about a 3 minute walk to a well stocked supermarket and liquor store for supplies so no need to worry too much if you forget anything.
Kandos was until recently the home of the 'Kandos Cement' mill which is still standing right on the outskirts of town. If you have seen or been on the Sydney Harbour Bridge you can thank Kandos for supplying the cement that went into building that plus half of Sydney. Kandos today is a mix of retired workers from the mill, others who were born and grew up locally and a range of 'blow ins'; generally people escaping the city life for the country. The good thing about country towns is that unlike cities which people love or hate, most people that live in country towns like living there.
  • What a surprise this little cottage turned out to be. We were expecting a "shed behind a house in a tiny country town" The town was much larger than we expected and The cottage was perfect. Shawn has done a great job proving all the amenities you need for a comfortable stop over.

    Sue2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great location in kandos. Note that there isn't WiFi. Shawn kindly offered to share his mobile data/hotspot, but if he isn't there, not sure what would happen re WiFi.

    Lindsay2019-11-28T00:00:00Z
  • Bower's Hideout was a great place to stay in Kandos. It was homely, clean and had everything you'd need for a comfortable stay. Shawn was very friendly and helpful, he's obviously put a lot of effort and thought into making his place and Kandos region accessible to visitors. Communication was easy, and he was also very understanding when I made a mistake with booking dates! I would highly recommend.

    Emily2019-11-23T00:00:00Z
  • We felt really at home at Bowers hideout which is a very comfortable cabin in a quiet area.It contains everything you could possibly need and particularly worth mentioning is the great bed and whisper quiet airconditioning .Plenty of room in the large lush garden to stretch your legs. Shawn is a very friendly and helpful host and we would love to visit again !

    Rosemarie2019-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • We like Shawn's place so much we stayed again and had another great experience.Looking forward to our next visit !

    Rosemarie2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • We got to Shawn's place 4 hrs later than expected due to getting lost hiking in the Wollemi National Park. Shawn met and greeted us and gave us access to park the car inside the locked and secure premises. We found some cold lemonade in the fridge which was a fantastic addition. We had a very good rest and break.

The cabin was comfortable with all amenities provided & a good living area. We would be very happy to stay there again. Anne

    Brett2019-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • Linda was great to deal with, quick responses to emails & SMS. Although Capertee is a very small town, it is centrally located to Mudgee area for wineries etc & 4wding. The cabin was great for our small family & our Boston Terrier. The dog play area was fully fenced & secure, so you could leave them there all day if you wanted too. All amenities worked perfectly. Hill End, Sofala & Newnes are good 4wd day trips to keep everyone busy. Log fire was awesome on our cold nights. Highly recommend a stay at Linda’s “Upton Downs”

Capertee Valley N.S.W. Australia The ultimate couples’ romantic retreat set in a rolling landscape with stunning vistas, this cosy one bedroom self-contained cottage with king size bed is stylishly presented and situated on a working farm. The cottage has its own entrance with car space at the door, air conditioning and a gas heater. Fabulous verandah overlooking our wonderful escarpments. Happy to have an earlier check in and a later check out, but we need to know to coordinate bookings.
The Cottage is situated in one of the top 50 IBA (important bird areas) areas of the world, in the widest canyon in the world, the scenery is stunning and the cottage has one of the best views of the escarpments in the valley. Just relax on the verandah with a drink and watch the changing vista
The peace and the ambiance is what the valley is all about. Also the fantastic bird watching.
  • Di and Roger's place is in a truly beautiful location. The cottage is not far from the main house but feels very private with great views across the fields of the Capertee Valley. It was a pleasure to enjoy a glass of wine on the porch and watch the birds and kangaroos, it felt very far from the city. The cottage itself was clean and tidy with air-conditioning and other modern amenities. Thanks for a great stay!

    Hugh2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • From the meandering drive in from the main road to the visiting fairy wrens on the verandah, Cloister Cottage is the perfect rural get away. I visited at the least perfect time during drought and bushfires in the distance, yet the view and serenity were still amazing. Waking up to what seemed like a ‘bird highway’ along the nearby tree lines was quite amazing. Great, welcoming hosts. The bacon, eggs and jams in the fridge were a lovely touch.

    Katie2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cottage to disconnect and get away from it all. The views are fantastic and the cottage itself is lovely with plenty of sweet personal touches that make you feel at home.

    Kristin2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I had a perfect weekend break away from the city. The location is wonderful and quiet. The cabin was comfortable, clean and well equipped, and we loved stargazing on the deck at night. Dianne was very friendly and welcoming and gave local tips on how to enjoy our time in the area. Highly recommend Dianne's place.

    Fiona2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • If you have a chance, go! This place was sparkling clean and had the best equipment for staying independent for several days. Even with the drought the birds and wildlife were wonderful and the views spectacular! We loved sitting outside with a glass of wine and seeing the sun go down. Magical! The bed heater and the room heater were quite welcome, since it still got cool in the night. The breakfast supplies with the home-baked bread were delicious. Highly recommended!!

    Claudius2019-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely little break away from the city! Di was very hospitable and the place was sparkling clean, warm and had breathtaking views! Would 100% stay again.

    Rachel And Mark2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is modern, comfortable, clean and well equipped. It has a fabulous view over the Capertee valley towards the great Dividing range. Sitting on the outdoor furniture on the wooden deck with a beer was a great way to see out the day! There are a few bird species resident in the garden but most appear to pass through. The farm is located close to Glen Alice which turned out to be a birding hotspot of note. Roger and Dianne were quick to greet me on arrival and I was presented with a lovely fresh loaf of bread which was a nice surprise. I was made to feel comfortable throughout and have no hesitation in recommending Cloister Cottage to other prospective guests.

    Glynn2019-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • I had a lovely stay at Cloister Cottage - the cottage was surrounded by stunning views of the valley and mountainous landscape, and was set up with everything I needed (including electric blanket and gas heater to ward off the winter cold, fresh baked bread, eggs, milk and bacon). Definitely be prepared for a lack of WiFi or phone reception, but this is what makes the property the perfect place to switch off and just enjoy the nature around you. Roger and Di were great hosts, always considerate and available for whatever I needed throughout my stay. Di also gave me detailed instructions for how to find the property which was very useful. A highly recommended place to stay in Glen Alice!

  • We were visiting friends in Rylstone and the Cottage was perfect location wise just being a little out of town. I loved the many stylish touches that had been incorporated to create a space full of character and comfort. The kitchen was very well equipped. The sofas were extremely comfortable and bedding was sumptuous. We plan to return to visit our friends again and will definitely choose to stay in the Cottage

  • We can see why Tracey is a Super Host. The cottage is an immaculately clean and welcoming space. The beds are comfortable, the shower hot, sofas relaxing, heating and cooling efficient and all appliances in tip top order. Thoughtful little touches like fresh flowers and games, books and magazines add to the mix. Opening the fridge was a pleasant surprise with eggs, milk, butter, jam and a delicious freshly baked loaf from the Rylstone bakery waiting inside. The cupboard was also stocked with cereals, spreads and condiments. The view of the paddocks and dam with mist rising in the morning and a gaggle of geese was delightful. In fact to be present on a working sheep property was a very nostalgic experience for us because we both grew up on the land. City people would enjoy experiencing a rural way of life at Tracey’s place. We met Stephen who was very welcoming and gave us some useful tips and local knowledge. The proximity to the Wollemi National Park is a major attraction in the area and Coomber makes a perfect base for exploring it. We highly recommend Tracey and Stephen’s place.

The Shearer's Quarters is camping meets homestay - an authentic farm experience in the heart of the Cudgegong Valley. Once a home for the shearers who visited the farm for more than 50 years, The Shearer's Quarters is now a cosy cabin with views of the property. It's a unique experience for those looking for a different kind of country getaway.
The Shearer's quarters has 6 individual bedrooms, a communal kitchen and living area. The Shearer's Quarters are basic, with limited power access. Only hardened travellers should stay in winter months.
  • The Shearer’s quarters is an absolute gem! We loved staying there so much. The aesthetic of the quarters, the freedom of the farm and the 5 minute drive to beautiful Rylstone and all that has to offer was a perfect combination to make our getaway memorable.

Tracey and Steve were lovely hosts and our kids got to experience some great outdoor freedom. Felt a little like stepping back in time to when life was a little simpler and slower paced. We will be back soon to hopeful wander through some green paddocks. Thanks again Tracey and Steve

We love our coffee and Bathurst has a large variety of cafes and restaurants to choose from.We are very spoilt for choice. We love living in Limekilns,as it is so relaxing, peaceful, private and a perfect escape from our busy working and children’s school lives. When we are driving along Limekilns road, everyone waves to you even if you don’t know them. We love waking up in the morning and seeing kangaroos out the kitchen window, echnidas in the front yard or kookaburras on the side of the road.

But what was also really nice was the little touches like the breakfast (fresh eggs, cereal, milk, bread etc.) and the nice smell in the room when you arrive! We really enjoyed our stay, thank you!

The house is a quaint 3 bedroom cottage and has 2 lounge rooms. It is situated on 100 acres in the Capertee Valley, which is the second widest canyon in the world. There is no WIFI, or free to air tv. Recently a Telstra tower has been constructed nearby so we have phone coverage. We are Telstra customers so unsure of other providers reception. Enjoy the serenity of the outdoors, and spend quality time with friends and family. We have a few board games and DVDs for you to pass the time in the evenings, and 100 acres for you to spend time in during the day. There is a full kitchen however non working dishwasher. The main bedroom has en-suite.
Our farm is in Bogee, which as a town has no facilities, however we are about a 25 minute drive from Rylstone, a beautiful town with a great country feel. There will you find pubs, cafes, gift shops and general stores. Kandos is also 25 minutes away with supermarket and shops. We are just over an hour from both Lithgow and Mudgee if you require a bigger town. We are 45 minutes from Dunns Swamp and on the road to Capertee National Park.
  • An excellent location for a nature rich stay - all away from the city life. This home & sorroundings have everything to make any age groups happy. Perfect location for bird watchers - we also found heaps of kangaroos around this place both early morning & evening. There are two friendly horses who like carrots & we enjoyed feeding them.

  • Quiet, relaxing home away from home. Clean spacious house with lots of added extras. Quality linens, comfortable bed, great shower. One of the cleanest properties I’ve stayed at. Spectacular views.

  • Kathy was a thoughtful host who quickly responded. At the time of booking we had some concerns about local bush fires but Kathy provided local information and flexibility which reassured us. The space was outstanding value for money and anyone who is at all interested in Australian birds would find it a great location to spend some time in.

  • A real country escape with plenty of places to explore nearby. Accommodation was very comfortable and spacious with lots of added extras. Communication was always very prompt and accurate.

  • We loved our two night stay.. we brought sufficient food supplies with us, but really appreciated the well equipped kitchen, with some pantry supplies. We enjoyed the peace, solitude, and amazing views and changes of light.

  • This place has it all for a country get away. There is a lot to do and explore in this area and this property is well positioned to access it all. Amazing views, bird life and peace and quiet!

Set overlooking Marrangaroo Creek, this beautifully restored 1880s cottage offers guests peace and tranquility with close proximity to the natural and historical treasures of the Blue Mountains, Wolgan Valley and Central West New South Wales.
The farm-stay provides opportunities to enjoy the area’s abundant wildlife including wallabies, wombats, and a vast array of native birds. Set on a working sheep and cattle farm, it provides visitors with the chance to observe and even participate in farming activities. Backing on to the state forest, there is ample bushwalking available within walking distance of the cottage. BBQ facilities are available at the cottage or guests can make use of the farm’s bush kitchen to enjoy a campfire under the stars. Fire wood is provided. Due to the historical nature of the building and its proximity to a pristine creek, the cottage utilises a low-impact, environmentally friendly chemical toilet and a hand-held shower. The kitchenette includes a microwave, pod coffee machine, tea making facilities, fridge and toaster. A delicious continental breakfast of cereal, toast, home-made yoghurt and preserves, or bacon and eggs is provided.
  • No more to say than everything was spot on and perfect. Thanks again for an amazing City real.

  • Garry and Julie have created a really special place to stay. From their incredible hospitality, to the thoughtful touches throughout the cottage - they have thought of everything. They chatted to us about their farm and gave us tips for local walks. We visited in March 2020, not long after the fires and flooding. Garry and Julie’s upbeat, positive outlook was lovely to see. I would encourage anyone to visit their farm if you are looking for something really memorable.

    Paul2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful historic cottage with a bush outlook and running stream down the side. Garry was a great host and the continental breakfast was delicious. Would definitely stay again.

  • Fernbrook Cottage is a lovely place to stay. The cottage itself is quaint and interesting. It has a lovely outlook and Garry is very welcoming. I would recommend it to others.

  • Gary is very welcoming, helpful and a good host. The cottage is lovely, the surrounds are outstanding and the opportunity to stop, listen to the wildlife and enjoy the scenery as very special. I would wholeheartedly recommend The Cottage to anyone, you could never be disappointed.

  • Me and my partner Chris stayed at Fernbrook Cottage whilst attending a wedding in Lithgow. I cannot recommend this air bnb highly enough, Garry went above and beyond to make sure our stay was enjoyable. From the minute we arrived we were welcomed by Garry who thoughtfully provided us with afternoon tea to replenish after our long drive. We were provided with everything we needed to cook ourselves a delicious bacon and egg breakfast the next morning and the views were outstanding. We will certainly be visiting again and will stay for more than 1 night so we can fully enjoy everything the cottage and countryside has to offer!

  • Wow, what an experience! I don’t normally hang out at my accommodation as my little ones get restless but we had a great time looking for wombats, watching a little calf, lambs, chickens, lizards and birds. Come visit nature at it's finest and experience the vista surrounding views. Angelina's cottage is nestled on 120 acres with 360 degree views of golden Capertee Valley cliff edges. Listed as one of the top 50 locations in the world for bird watching the Valley is blessed with such a stunning diverse array of birds. Great for bush walking and horse back riding. Note: No Motorbike riding or hunting/shooting on the property.
  • A beautiful house in a beautiful location. If you want to escape and soak in the area I highly recommend. Sal was a highly responsive and helpful host.

  • Amazing peaceful getaway for you to breakout from busy city living. We loved staying here on a long weekend, taking in a view of the ridges all around the valley, hearing all different bird sounds and watching the cattle graze. Fully self sufficient off grid with three bedrooms, spacious living area, kitchen, laundry outdoor table snd BBQ and much more. Located on a local no through road, you will experience absolute privacy and calmness. The owners were also staying on a next door farm ( 2km away) and very helpful, super friendly. You can easily get here following GPS directions and its best to offline download the area maps into you smart phone as you may not have mobile reception on the last hour of the trip. We did not have reception in the property but the WIFI was good for wifi calling and anything you need to do with the internet. Make sure to get the wifi password before hand. We were surprised by not having mobile reception (as the AirBnB ad says there is 3G) and had a bit of an adventure making contact to the owners but the neighbouring farm offered their landline phone to call the owners and it was sorted out very soon. The owners took us on a night wildlife spotlighting on the back of their 4WD which was awesome.

  • Stunning location and wonderfully remote. The place is also totally off grid, running from solar which is lovely. Fantastic for dogs (although if they’re too little they might get out under the fence, so need watching).

The Secret Refuge at Portland Gate is a new modern, spacious 3 bedroom brick cottage set amongst 25 acres of Natural Bush-land with visiting wildlife. Guests are welcome to stroll around the property, feed the native birds, or picnic in the gardens of the main residence. The cottage is located on the grounds of the property 'Portland Gate" and guests have their own private outdoor entertainment area with a BBQ and fire pit which is ideal to sit around in the evening and stargaze.
The property is home to many native birds and animals who pass through including wallabies, kangaroos and wombats. You can enjoy feeding and watching the many native birds feed on the bird feeders. The cottage is located at the rear of the property at 1146 Pipers Flat Road, Portland nestled amongst natural bushland with a mountain view from the living and entertainment area. The property was a wildlife refuge many years ago and native animals still visit and we respect and provide them space.
The property is just 20 minutes from Lithgow, 6 minutes to Wallerawang and three minutes to the township of Portland. The city of Bathurst is approximately a 35 minutes drive . The township of Portland is a quaint country town with the buildings boasting the Signs of Yesteryear which are painted annually by the "Wallnuts". The old cement works silos have recently been painted by a world renowned artist. The scenic Capertee Valley is approximately a 45 minute drive and Pearson's Lookout which overlooks the valley has a magnificent view.

Our old, small house is in the centre of Lithgow. It is a great place to stay for groups of up to 6 people, students, those working in Lithgow, cyclists, walkers and active people who need a base for their activities. Lithgow has lots of history, unspoilt heritage architecture, industrial relics and eccentric events like the Halloween festival, Christmas Markets and Iron Fest (the Steam Punk festival that should not be missed!)
Our decor and house is simple in style, clean and no fuss. You won't find ruffles and chintz, or chocolates under your pillow! It is more 'inner city Sydney boho' in aesthetics. We are not 'spa' or luxury people, we are old school air bnb and are opening up our holiday house for others to use. We stay here ourselves when we have free time and find it is a perfect base for sight seeing and exploring the amazing bushland that surrounds Lithgow, like Newnes and the glow worm tunnels. We plan to restore our house back to its original features but in the meantime we use the back door, until we renovate the front verandah which is unrenovated. We are across the road from the train station, but it is pretty sleepy. A few trains pass each day and you probably won't even notice them. Tucked away behind Main Street it is handy to everything. We are right in the centre of town, 5 minutes walk from the station and close to parks, cafes, restaurants, pubs, shops, a pharmacy and the library. We don't even bother with a car a lot of the time as just about everything we need is in walking distance. This is our house in the centre of a country town and not a remote farmhouse experience. We don't have wifi but there are old school games like scrabble, chess and others for you to play and some books to read and a small TV is in the living room. There are nearby cafes and the supermarket is a 5 minute walk away. We do keep kitchen staples in the cupboard like porridge, cereals, spices pasta etc so please help yourself. But the stay is essentially self catering.
Our house is right in the centre of town, 5 minutes from the train station and handy for all amenities. We are a great base for exploring by car. The Jenolan Caves (50mins by car), Blue Mountains Botanic gardens (20mins), Japanese bathing house, Newnes and the glow worm tunnel, Zig Zag railway ( 10mins) the furnace park and Hassan's Walls are nearby. In the town itself, you can walk to many attractions including the Blast Furnace Park 20mins walk), Esbank House (10 mins) and the Small Arms Factory Museum (20mins.) Lake Lyell (20mins), national parks and the Blue Mountains are a short drive. It's also a perfect spot to break the drive to places further afield like Orange (90mins), Mudgee (90mins) and Bathurst (50mins). Unlike Blackheath (30mins away) and Katoomba(40mins), Lithgow has not been taken over by tourism and the pace is unrushed and peaceful. People love to stop and chat.
  • Great location, deceiving external appearance, cosy house and great communication. Looove the electric blankets!

    Leah2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Definitely an outstanding stay - made our trip to the Blue Mountains a very comfortable one. We came in the middle of winter but we felt so warm here thanks to the multiple heaters and electric blankets. Enough room for 7 people to sleep in. We cooked up a few meals in the kitchen which was stocked up with everything we needed and more. The only thing was that some of the cooking utensils had not been washed and there was some dirt on the rangehood. The rest of the house was very clean and cosy. It's also literally just behind the main street, very convenient location.

    Alison2019-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • Nice clean little place for a short stay - easy to walk for food and supplies. Good heater in the lounge for the winter Lithgow nights!

A unique holiday where wild kangaroos are likely to bounce past your front door.
The destination is the journey! These are only a few ideas - there is much much more to do... Between Sydney and Lithgow via Katoomba: Leura has beautiful cafes and there is an awesome lolly shop with wall to wall sweets and treats. Jenolan Caves are fascinating. The Hydromajestic is an historic hotel recently renovated and has spectacular views over the Megalong Valley Between Sydney and Lithgow via Bilpin: In and around Bilpin fruit growers allow you to pick your own fruit fresh off the tree. If you don't have time, there are little stalls that pepper the road where you can pick up freshly picked fruit and home made treats. Grass Karting is fun at Kurrajong Heights Grass Karts. From Lithgow to Capertee The Tin Shed at Lithgow has excellent wood fired pizza and great coffee. Stop at the lookout over the widest canyon in the world - the Capertee Valley SHOPPING There is a general store at Capertee (12km away) which stocks the essentials but if you are doing your shopping on the way, we recommend stopping at one of the larger towns - Richmond, Lithgow, Mudgee, Katoomba etc
  • Wonderful place for a weekend away! Sonya went above and beyond to make you feel welcome and cared for. The place was clean and stylish and immediately we felt at home.

  • We had an amazing first glamping experience at ‘Stargaze’. The place was secluded, quiet and peaceful. We checked in and was welcomed with red wine and the best honey we’ve ever tried! We also did horse riding for the first time and absolutely loved it. Thank you again for such a wonderful stay.

    Xinyang2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I stayed at Dreamtime for 3 nights and we couldn’t ask for a better glamping experience. Everything about the tent is extremely thought out and very stylish. Cooking food at the kitchenette and the grill was easy and all the utensils were provided but do bring your own ingredients and spices! The location is absolutely stunning and highlights everything Capertee has to offer. Just prepare for long road trips if you want to go to wineries and caves but it is worth it as the sceneries along the way are breathtaking. Sonya and Soren were absolutely wonderful and sweet so do make sure to pay a visit and have a cup of tea with them. Don’t hesitate if you need help with your tent or planning out your trip as they are more than happy to help you out. I can’t recommend Turon enough and I’m so happy to have celebrated our 3rd anniversary there.

    Jenny2019-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • This glamping experience is worth the price you’re paying. The tent was amazing with little touches of the owners and next to stables where horses stayed, we were able to pat and see the horses come up to our tent. It was such a great way to get away from the city and recharge. I highly recommend staying here for the weekend. Although just beware, for those who have a smaller car the drive into Turon Gates is gravel and a little of roading.

    Nicole2019-06-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had the most amazing time, total relaxation in the most serene environment. The glamping tents are out of this world, complete luxury and well equipped. Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable.

Loved the fact that there was a working VCR & got to watch movies just like when growing up. Idyllic place to get away. Loved our friendly four legged friend, Max. This cute and very cosy cottage is located in Cullen Bullen just past lithgow. The house has loads of rustic charm and has been furnished to ensure you have a cosy and warm stay. The cottage is located on a 1900 meter squared block which is fully fenced with two meter high fencing. Surrounded by mountain backdrops and beautiful views it makes for a great place to recharge your batteries. This property is also great for workers in the local plants & mines.
Cullen Bullen is a small, quiet and peaceful village- locals call it "the small village with a big heart". This house is located just off the highway and easy to find and makes a great stop just after Lithgow or on your way to Mudgee. There are two bedrooms, Brand-new kitchen, lounge room, dining room, family room, Front and back verandas and a huge yard. Its a great place for a weekend away, with a cozy fireplace, lots of firewood and a huge yard to entertain the kids and pets. The property is not luxurious or glamorous but if you are after something with character, coziness and charm than this is the place for you. Its a great place to unwind and forget about life stresses. The sunsets are beautiful and the stars at night are so incredible you can star gaze for hours. There is an amazing variety of birdlife that frequent the property including beautiful parrots that graze in the yard. I hope you enjoy this property as much as I do. I can also arrange a blow up mattress if you have extra guests.
Cullen is a small village. It is very peaceful and very friendly. There are no local shops here and its a sleepy little place. It makes the perfect escape from a busy lifestyle and a great stop point if travelling.
  • Just came back from our lovely 8 nights stay, over Christmas, at Cullen Bullen cottage and we must say we truly enjoyed every minute of it. Chris is a great host and the place itself is a fantastic base for The Blue Mountains NP or other parks in the area. The location is great and there's so much to see & do out there. The cottage is in working progress, but we loved the large backyard with a lovely outdoor sitting and a fire pit. It's a quiet, comfortable and pet friendly place with lots of character and some rustic feel with an additional bonus of fresh eggs every morning.

  • Cullen Cottage was a great base Capertee Valley. Chris was a great host. We loved the retro feel of the cottage and sitting on the rear deck watching all the birdlife was truly enjoyable. All necessities were supplied in abundance. We even had some eggs from the resident cooks. Thanks Chris.

  • An amazing experience living in a cabin hosted by Deb & Mitch. The cabin has all the things you need for your holiday! I’d definitely come back to this place to getaway from the city life and be close to the nature.

    Pratik2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is great. Deb has thought of everything. The amount of time & effort she has put into what she has included in the cabin (inside & outside) is evident. Could not praise it highly enough.

    Debby2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Our two inner city kids LOVED their night at Deb’s farm stay... holding baby chicks, meeting a two week old calf, seeing the roosters, pig and playing with the two gorgeous dogs, Coco and Shadow. They didn’t want to leave! We had a small fire in the pit and ate marshmallows, as we star gazed. The cabin was super comfy too!

  • Great place and fantastic hospitality from Deb and her son. Plenty of animals on their property to go and play with if you want to.

  • Sonya was a fantastic host and we had a brilliant time! Our 4yo adored the horses and her pony ride was the highlight of her week (Julia was an outstanding guide!!). The sense of isolation and peacefulness at the cabin was the perfect escape. Great walks on the property too. Turon Gates is an incredible place to stay and we look forward to visiting again in the future!!

  • We’ve just had a wonderful weekend at Eagles nest with two families. The photos don’t do it justice. Perfect house, cozy fire. Lovely views of the property, we all said we would love to come back.

    Sally2018-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • What a gem! Turon Gates is a breathtaking property and the cabin we stayed in was warm, rustic and perfectly suited for our small group. We really appreciated the thoughtful gestures around the home and loved going for a horse ride in the morning despite the cold weather! We didn’t want to leave, but hope to return to stay in a hilltop cottage as well one day x

  • Sonya’s place is super relaxing, place is exactly as described but pictures can’t really justify the view. I love the privacy of this place. So many interaction with a nature including kangaroos, many birds, goats, rabbits and so on. Just love it. Thank you Sonya we will come back. David

We love these spectacular views of Lake Wallace. We built our eco-home on Coxs River in 2010-13 to share this area and views with our B&B guests. This is one of three rooms with ensuites sharing a large open plan guest dining/living area & viewing terrace - so a party of up to six guests can be accommodated in this section of the house. We are ideally located close to numerous stream and lake fishing venues, bushwalks and museums and historic sites in Lithgow (11km) and Bathurst (46km).
We designed our home to have a separate 'apartment' for the purposes of running a Bed and Breakfast for our guests. This guest space consists of three bedrooms that each come with en-suit, built-in, ceiling fan, floor heating, and unique bespoke interior design. The guest rooms flow from a large foyer hall into a large shared dining/living area with two double couches, four single seating couches, a dining table for six people, a very effective fireplace, digital TV, sound system with vinyl and CD, a collection of visitor pamphlets and information, wifi, and three large windowed doors that open onto a large shaded rectangular terrace and circular viewing platform. We are still in the process of applying final finishing touches to our build and landscaping.
The neighborhood is on the edge of the wonderous Gardens of Stone National Park: http://www.nationalparks.nsw.gov.au/visit-a-park/parks/Gardens-of-Stone-National-Park . We overlook Lake Wallace: http://www.bluemountainsfishing.net/lakes/no-power-boats/lake-wallace/ and we have Cox's River passing through our acerage: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coxs_River. Guests can also stretch their legs in the nearby Barton Park Arboretum. There are plenty of good eateries including clubs close by in Wallerawang and Lithgow.
  • The house is absolutely amazing and the views are to die for. Pete and Dot made us feel at home, they gave us great local tips, made us breakfast and Pete even gave us a private concert - he plays the guitar and sings!
