Summer paradise by Göta Kanal

Gammalrud is a farm, which is located in the northern part of the peninsula, which goes into Lake Viken and is called Vika forests. Here we conduct forestry and lamb production since 1976. Surrounded by the beautiful forest, lake Viken (the highest point of Göta Kanal) and the hospitality of Thord and Ulla, this is your idyllic home away from home. We have renovated the old farm dairy, "Mejeriet", and made it into a nice home that we rent out to guests. The ground floor consists of a hallway, a kitchen suited for 8 persons and a large living room with a cozy fireplace. The living room floor is made of hand-made bricks from the old brickworks in the nearby village Horn. The upper floor consists of one large room with wooden floor and alcoves for 6 persons. At the old canal landing, we have built a large boathouse. Here is a place, not just for boats, but also for gatherings and parties. If you´d like to go fishing you are more than welcome to rent our small boat to try your luck catching pike, perch or any of the other fish in lake Viken. There is also a sauna in the Boathouse. Gammalrud is a farm dating back to the Middle Ages. A full list of previous owners dates back to 1498. In the 1600s, Gammalrud became a manor when the first corp de logi was built by Thord Jönsson Reuterberg. In the 1800s, Gammalrud became part of the Swedish industrial history by one of the owners, Theodor Winborg, also known as “Ättikskungen” , the founder of Winborg´s vinegar and later by his brother in law, Helge Palmqrantz, an inventor and industrialist with machine factories in Stockholm. Both agricultural tools and weapons were made there. A machine gun, designed by Helge Palmqrantz to be part of the defense on Karlsborgs fortress, can be seen at the fortress museum.

Close to padel courts, tennis courts, miniature golf. No pets are allowed. Sheets/towels are included, but can be rented for 100 SEK/person. Events/parties are not allowed. Water pipes/smoking not allowed!

Idyllic cottage, 30 sq m, on a private beach, very clear lake water, close to the highway E4 and Gränna. Thirty minutes from Jönköping. One bedroom with a luxury bed for two and one room with a very comfortable foldable bed sofa for two and a kitchen area. Wood stove sauna, bathroom with shower, sink and toilet. The host lives in a house about 50 meters further away from the beach. The kitchen is for simple cooking, the use of a frying pan is not allowed, but charcoal barbecue is available.

Welcome to Kärnebäcken. The house is located undisturbed on a cape in Bottensjön, with both morning and eveningssol. Here you can see the canal boats from Vättern on the way up in Göta Canal. Only 2 km bike path into Sweden's reserve capital Karlsborg, with Ida's pier and Karlsborg fortress that attracts. With the car, it takes about 20 minutes to Tiveden National Park with hiking trails and amazing nature. The house is 110 sqm and fully equipped. Great WiFi. An oasis!

Welcome to our little summer paradise. For many years we have had this cabin as our "breathing hole". Nowadays we are pensioners and live at the farm from which this plot was cut off. The cottage is located by the lake Viken, its own jetty, small rowing boat and raft are included. A guest cottage with several beds and equally nice views is also available. Private shallow beach with beautiful sunset. We live 4 km from cottage.

Here, up to 6 adults live next door to the sheep pasture and forest and are welcomed by the farm's both sociable herding dogs. Tivedens National Park, Karlsborg Fortress, Göta Canal, Forsviks Bruk, etc., are some of the sights within a 30 minute drive.

Lunnekullen is a very well-maintained and cozily furnished Swedish house. You can tell that the host makes a lot of effort to make it as pleasant as possible for the vacationer. In the house itself, everything is really lovingly equipped and available, so that you can also feel comfortable on rainy days and enjoy the warmth of the fireplace. The highlight is the large terrace with a fantastic view of the lake and the setting sun. The host is a very friendly and helpful man who is happy to provide information and answer questions. There are plenty of excursion destinations and shopping opportunities in the surrounding area.

We were greeted nicely and easily in Ausra's small cottage to enjoy the wilderness for two nights. The weather was so wonderful that we could even use the sheltered terrace for barbecuing and breakfast. The kitchen equipment contained the essentials, but we didn't miss anything during our stay.
