Mountain Views and Starry Skies in the Countryside

Come enjoy the quiet of the country, only 15 minutes south of town. Stunning views of the La Plata Mountains and dark night skies for great star-gazing! Nice area for cycling and walking. Many of our neighbors have donkeys, horses, llamas and goats, chicken and sheep. No cigarette smoking but we are 420 friendly (outside only please!). We are a safe place for women travelers. There is a very friendly Labrador Retriever and a Basset Hound that live on this property but not allowed in the apt.

Staying in a Strawbale home is a special experience! The thick adobe walls create a cozy and warm feeling that a traditional stick built home just can’t. Enjoy the vaulted ceilings, heated floors, new appliances and natural sunlight. Backyard, fire pit and gas grill as well as outdoor eating space. The view from the kitchen looks out on a private pond and local historic (retired) Rio Grande Railroad bridge. Some scenes from the movie Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid were shot by this bridge!

Beautiful Log Mountain Home with a View

Our beautiful mountain home is nestled between Durango and Pagosa Springs Colorado. Whether you are looking for a quite, private and secluded vacation spot or a home between two local ski resorts (Purgatory and Wolf Creek) this home offers the best of both worlds. This is also a great hunting spot, less than a quarter mile walk to public hunting property held by BLM. You can walk right out the door and hike, snow shoe, or sled down the driveway. We are not present when the home is occupied.

Where do I begin, Barneys place was cozy, clean, and thoughtful with all the amenities he included. We had the privilege of getting to know Barney on a personal level and hope to keep in touch. The views were stunning and my kids fully enjoyed the swing, the fire pit at night, as well as the lake on the boat. The area felt so safe and homey as well. We can’t wait to book another trip here in the future so we can make more memories. This was one of our favorite trips!

Daniella's cozy mountain home was perfect for our family-- we could stretch out and have our own space but still come together for family time. It was clean, comfortable, and cozy. The bedrooms are spacious, beds are so comfy. Kitchen is well stocked with what you need. The porch is adorable with pretty trees. We had a very short trip and kept saying that we would love to come back for a longer stay.

Angie and Cole are amazing hosts - they were so receptive and helpful for our rescheduling needs of our Airbnb due to my partner’s illness that came on very suddenly. They were extremely communicative, helpful, and kind! They even left us roses and candy for our honeymoon. We loved the space of the Airbnb too and the location was perfect for our time in Durango. My only comments would be that some of the dishes in the cabinet were dirty upon our arrival, and the Airbnb itself could use a deep clean but our bedding and everything else was pristine. We loved our stay here. Thank you so much, Angie and Cole!!

Loved staying here! It was definitely a home away from home. Very peaceful area. We enjoyed being high in the mountains and being able to see the stars and the mountain views. Seeing the wildlife between the deer, birds and turkeys you couldn't believe you were in a neighborhood.
