Kid-friendly vacation rentals in Hancock County

We had a wonderful stay at Plover Cottage and truly enjoyed the incredible views of Taunton Bay from the windows as well as the sitting areas on the property. Bar Harbor and ANP are about a 40 minute drive but a very nice one at that. Schoodic Peninsula is a closer ride and well worth the visit! The kitchen is well stocked and filled with other essentials that make for a wonderful stay to explore the beautiful coastal towns in the area. Thank you Jonathan for being a responsive host and offering us a wonderful place to experience Acadia National Park!

Incredible property with jaw-dropping views. I loved watching the tides come in everyday and there's a lot of cool birds and wildlife. The area for feedback I have is that the mattresses are all really firm which made sleeping a little rough. I still rate the property 5 stars and think it's the perfect getaway accommodation for visitors of Acadia. Also the hot tub is nice after sore hiking muscles!

An absolutely beautiful place, can’t recommend enough - we were so sad to leave. Brady was an awesome host, even going so far as making sure we had a pan to make a homemade birthday pie. There was tons to do— from hanging out on the dock, swimming, canoeing, and kayaking on the lake, stargazing, playing tennis, and doing puzzles and games in the cozy living room, we had a blast. Not to mention it was only an hour from Acadia for some great hiking. The personal touches in the cabin were also so sweet— it’s clear there’s lots of special family memories in this place. I hope we can come back someday!

My family and I had a lovely stay at Dean’s place. It’s just as depicted in the photos with gorgeous ocean views inside and outside. Our two boys had a great time wandering the shoreline hunting for treasure and exploring Acadia daily. We enjoyed our coffee on the deck & even saw a bald eagle one morning! We’d love to return when the boys are older and make use of the kayaks!

Lauren was a wonderful host! We had an amazing stay at her cottage. It was less than a 10 min drive from her place to downtown Bar Harbor and Acadia. Lauren was attentive and fair when handling any issues we ran into during the stay. We will definitely be back!

This is our 3rd stay here. We love the location. It's perfect for anything you want to do in Bar Harbor or Acadia or just sitting on the deck and watching the Bay.

What a beautiful, peaceful, cozy property. We loved the location on the water, in the forest. The smell of the pines, the sounds of nature, the sunsets, the location between Schoodic and MDI, what else could we ask for? The house was adorable and well stocked. Our kids slept in the loft and loved it. We hardly wanted to leave the house, but alas, adventure was calling, so we did.

The apartment was fantastic! It had everything we needed, and no clutter! Beautiful furnishings, modern, simple and comfortable. Surprised by the unexpected gorgeous view of the Narrows bridge at night - what a great seating alcove to enjoy it! Easily walkable to the waterfront and restaurants. We have come to depend on Warren's on the Waterfront and Bucksport House of Pizza over the past few years of visiting - this trip did not disappoint, the pizza and sandwiches are still top notch! We were here this time for our son's graduation from MMA, and although we rented a larger home for the younger guests and West Coast visitors, we chose this one for us, as a place to get away from the chaos of the larger home. It was simply perfect. Kudos to your housekeeping, the apartment was spotless and so welcoming - especially after a 13 hour drive from Maryland. Even though our son has graduated, we will be back. We just love the area. Thank You!!!

Coleen's place was exactly as described, the check-in instructions were easy to follow, the home was cozy and had everything we needed. The location was very convenient for attending the UMaine graduation that was held at the Cross Insurance Center.

This studio apartment was peaceful and private with lots of sunny windows, a very comfy bed, and kitchen facilities. We especially liked that it was close to town and the University, yet it had natural trails for hiking within easy walking distance. It served our purposes of being in town to visit family perfectly.

We absolutely loved Lise’s apartment. It had a beautiful view of Cadillac Mountain. The kitchen was updated, high end appliances and had everything in it that we could need, from organic eggs, bread to fruit and yogurt. The bed was very comfortable. I loved the bathroom with the hand held shower. She was the was the most friendly,attentive hostess we have ever had. This is one of the best AirBNBs we have stayed at and we have stayed in many. We had a very nice day at James’s place. It had everything we needed and the space was very well thought out. Would recommend!

This was our first time staying at an Airbnb, and our host made the experience incredibly smooth and enjoyable. He was extremely responsive and helpful, patiently answering our questions and checking in during our stay to make sure everything was going well. The apartment itself was clean, comfortable, and perfectly located—within easy walking distance to great restaurants and the riverwalk. The neighborhood was quiet and felt very safe. We really appreciated the thoughtful hospitality and would definitely stay here again!

Love this Condo. Superb location in Blue Hill Village, easily walkable to everything downtown. Modern and updated making it very comfortable. Well equipped with cleaning/cooking supplies so you can "live normally". The hosts are super responsive and helpful as well. Highly recommended.

We were very happy start to finish. The location was just so unique and incredible. Right on a working marina, but very quiet. Plenty to see and do nearby. Walk across the pier and buy live lobsters. Christie was extremely helpful and quick to respond when asked. Condo was very well done with plenty of touches to make it homey. A good value! If we come back to Maine, we’ll call her first.

The Owls Nest was a perfect base for our exploration of the Blue Hill Peninsula and Deer Isle. Clean, cozy, and perfectly located. JoDee was helpful and welcoming and have us lots of great local recommendations. Highly recommended!

We had a comfortable stay at Matsa’s in Bar Harbor. It’s walkable to all restaurants and amenities, and so close to the main attractions of Acadia National Park. The place itself was great for our group. We had two toddlers and they were also comfortable. The beds were comfy. Kitchen is well stocked, we had breakfast at the townhome all three days and we felt like after our regular grocery we had everything else to enjoy our meal— great collection of dishes and silverware, basic spices, and oil. If you enjoy coffee, get some fresh one, they have a machine to brew. The host is responsive and easy to communicate. If we come back to Bar Harbor, we’d love to stay again at Matsa’s.

The location of the condo is perfect if you are looking to stay in Maine to explore Acadia. The condo itself is minimalist but completely adequate. The indoor swimming pool and amenities at the clubhouse are perfect for anyone with kids and/or rainy days! The views were beautiful off the deck. I would definitely stay again!

My family and I were very excited about visiting Acadia National Park. This location is close to the park (about 10-15 min driving). We stay in the large room for six people. The place is good for a group who can sleep closely (our kids slept next to each other in the two beds and the couch), also keep in mind there is only one restroom. Having a kitchen to cook our meals is always a plus. The common areas are very good. We used the hot tub, the fireplace and the grill. Everything was great! Arthur is an excellent remote host, quickly answering all our questions. I recommend this place for families willing to visit Acadia.

Brian’s place was very clean and walking distance to everything in downtown Bar Harbor. Note to guests: apartment is on the second floor up a fairly steep flight of steps.

Toddy Haven is just that, a haven from the hustle and bustle of typical touristy locations. It really gives you the idea of what it would be like to live on a lake in Maine during the summer! The dock and the kayaks/canoe dedicated to our place were wonderful and the fire pit areas are amazing too! The host Mark has thought of everything for inside the place but I bet you haven't seen a full size pool table provided before?! As a SuperHost myself, I would rate this as one of the top 5 places I have ever stayed during my travels! Hope to return in the future!!
