Authentic Finnish summer cottage far away in the depth of the wilderness. It's a log cabin on the shore of Lake Kuusamojärvi. You can do fishing, picking berries and mushrooms or just enjoy the nature. A rowboat is available and in summer there is solar power to charge your mobile.
“We stayed for a week with my family (2 years and 6 years old kids as well) in the end of december and celebrated new years eve in Petteris cottage. We were prepared for an adventure and that we got. Kids totally loved it and we were lucky with the temperature as well. Be prepared if you go in winter and you have to leave your car to the furthest parking place. It takes about 30 min to get to the cottage, with children and all our stuff it took us 1,5 h to get there:) but it was also fun for us as well. If you want to experience something completly different then that is the place - no electrcity, water etc .Just quality time with your family in winter wonderland . Totally recommend, but just be prepared:)”
Small modern ekohouse with sauna and shower. Near lake . Boat, canoe, bikes . House of host is neighbour
“Eila has a very nice place. Ideal for taking a time out, being in and with nature and peace. The sauna and fireplace are great, as well as the view of the lake from the little house- especially in the morning when the sun rises or in the evening when everything gets quite and you can watch the stars above it after a relaxing sauna. Eila is a very respectful and friendly host. She takes care of the place and makes sure everything and you are alright. Eila had all the equipment for different weather conditions and activities ready- sleighs for the frozen lake, ice scates, snow shoes etc. I particularly loved the vintage old school cross-country skis with matching shoes. Felt like back in the 80s:) we had a lot of fun. Thank you!”
Unique private timberhouse in the quiet nature and woods in Lapland! Private apartment with lovely athmosphere and with modern equipment - electric stove and oven, fridge, tv, wi-fi and a fireplace. Quiet location in the nature, easy to reach.
“The little log cabin is located in a perfect position between airport, Saariselkä and Inari - between civilisation and remote areas. The instructions to find the cabin are superclear and after a 5 minute drive from the airport we were "home". Despite or late arrival, Reijo awaited us and immediately pointed out the aurora in the sky. What a welcome show! He quickly showed us what we needed to know and then pointed out a little trail into the woods behind the cabin which took us to a little lake. A great spot for taking aurora pictures. Watching the aurora from nearby Ivalo River is possible, too. When we arrived the cabin was warm and equipped with extra firewood for the stove. The tap water is fine to drink , but I guess some people do not like the iron taste. That is why we got extra - non iron taste - drinking water in a tank. There are two beds in the kitchen (about 1, 20m wide, one on the ground level, one in a little loft above bed 1). For snorers we recommend splitting up - smile! The upstairs bed gets warmer and the getting up there is a little difficult for tall people, but it has the better matrace and is very cozy. We were a little worried at first because of the location close to the airport and because of the dogs Reijo had mentioned. Neither was a problem at all. The planes going in and out are only a few, none at night and you hardly hear them. The dogs ( a smaller one and a huge one) were mostly inside or gone with their owners. When we met Reijo or Minna with the dogs , they always had them on a leash. When I saw the big dog for the first time I could realate to Reijos advice to not pet the dogs inside their fence, I believe at least the big one is a good watch dog, not unfriendly though! The following days we packed the snowshoes which we had rented from Reijo and took day trips to Saariselkä, Kiilopää and Vaskonjemie at Lake Inari. Snowshoeing, crosscountry skiing and just winter walking is easily accessible within a 20-30 min drive. When we got home we used the sauna and shower in the main building. Both are superclean and easy to handle. Plus, we got the towel supply we needed from Reijo and Minna. For lunch and dinner we used the cabin kitchen, which works fine or went out for dinner. As dinner places we can recommend Annes Garden (Burgers) in Saariselkä, and if you have more money to spend the Inari Wilderness Hotel, Terenpeesa (Saariselkä) or the Laanilan Kievarie. When you go to the last one make sure you book an early table and order before the place gets full, otherwise you will have to wait a looong time for your food, which is extraordinary by the way. And bring a jacket when you go there as the restaurant is heated by a wood fired stove and takes a long time to warm up. If you keep that in mind it is a great place! If you want to cook yourself, the supermarkets in Ivalo are very well stocked and only a 5 minute drive away from "home". You have oven, stove and mikrowave to prepare your food and all the dishes you need. You might have to rinse them a little, since most do probably not get used too often. You even have a dishwasher in the cabin. Do not forget to turn on the water velve before you start it! When we had questions we got fast answers even though Reijo had to work during the week. After a night of heavy snowfall the yard was cleaned of snow and we also had a broom and shovel to dig our own path to the car. All in all, we had a great time. We loved the cozy little house, we enjoyed getting to know the hosts and we would book it again any time. Thanks Reijo and Minna”
