With a beautiful 360° scenery and a grand pateo you can enjoy mesmerizing sunsets and spectacular northern lights showings, given the complete lack of light pollution. It's the photohgrapher's dream location. Eyjafjallajökull and Seljalandsfoss can be seen from the apartment. 4x4 is necessary during winter as the path leading to the house can get very snowy.

Then Hvílusteinn is perfect as a getaway from the city into the wilderness & as a base camp for South Iceland, within 100 km you have most of Iceland's popular gems! Airport about 170km away. It's nice to just enjoy the local nature and the northern lights in this remote and secluded area of the countryside with a private outdoor shower and shared indoor shower and a sauna. Vidar & Osp have a beautiful farm property with horses & sheep and all the necessary amenities for a peaceful stay. Their communication is on point and they are happy to respond to a guest's requests. The kitchen is well stocked and the rooms & common areas are adequate for anything a guest might need. We would love to come back and stay if we ever visit the area again.

Nice place, room was clean and organized, kitchen and toilets had all necessary amenities. Pictures matched the place and had beautiful views around, nice for a little walk and some interaction with the horses. Location is easy to find. Host was friendly and the check-in/out process was a breeze. Overall a pleasant stay in a typical Icelandic homestay.

Very nice to pet the horses in the morning, and Snaebjorn will be happy to have a conversation with you or let you be. About 30 mins from any restaurant.
