Great place to stay if you are walking Mt Barney, Mt May or Mt Maroon - 40 mins drive north. The cottage can accommodate 3 people using a queen bed and a trundle bed (extra $15/night). The cottage runs on solar power (off the grid); gas cooktop; gas hot water; septic toilet; tank water and wood heater. Dean's shed is overflowing with stories and harness.

From Woodenbong, take Glennie Street, which becomes Boomi Creek Road, keep on the sealed road at the Brumby Creek turn. Travel a further approx 6km. Our place is not suited to young children.

We stayed with another couple for a wedding at Maroon Hill Estate. Laura was lovely to deal with and even went the extra mile to accomodate us getting in early so we could get ready for the wedding. The place was spotless, cosy and very comfortable. Loved our stay. Highly recommend.

Everything about this cabin was amazing, we felt lucky to be able to stay in such a well kept and rustic cabin. It really was unlike anywhere I've ever stayed and genuinely felt lucky to be there especially considering there were a pair of wedged tailed eagles flying above and around the stunning views for most of our stay. Beautiful, private, different and very reasonably priced considering its so nice and on a huge private block. All in all a memorably experience and would highly recommend to anyone thinking of staying here, the photos look nice but its even better in real life. Tracey really made us feel at home and was easy to deal with. The breakfast hamper is a must and all foods included were fresh and delicious!

We often enjoy self-catered weekend getaways, and Walganbar truly tops the list. It offers everything you could want — including stunning nearby waterfalls and peaceful surrounds that make it the perfect escape. It’s a hidden gem, made even more special by the wonderful hosts, Rachel and Kathy, who go above and beyond to ensure your stay is comfortable, relaxing, and just that little bit extra. This one place we’ll surely come back to.
