Charming 15th Century Castle

Absolutely loved our stay in Grantstown Castle. Ali is an excellent host. Responsive and kind. The castle itself is incredible. Such a unique and wonderful experience. Honestly, we had as more fun exploring, reading about and hanging out here more than any tourism based castle along our way.

Michael's House, Ring of Kerry, Sea Views

StephanieRating, 5 stars1 month ago
Michaels place was absolutely incredible.. the house, the views and everything in between! We couldn’t have asked for a better spot to stay. Kerry was more beautiful than I could have ever imagined. Michael was very responsive and gave us recommendations to do. My kids enjoyed playing outside all day. Also, loved all the big windows in the house and having a fantastic view from each one! Would love to come back and stay again one day! Thank you again for the lovely stay!

Peaceful rural retreat, converted farmhouse barn.

CatherineRating, 5 stars1 week ago
Calm, nature, cats, birds... Nicola and Cormac are respectful of our privacy but present and responsive when needed, thank you both for your willingness to speak French! The bedding is comfortable, perhaps a wardrobe for clothes is missing... a cupboard for food... The heat of the stove and/or electric radiator was welcome from time to time, Great stay, thank you Nicola :))

Authentic Georgian City Centre Town House.

Nicole's apartment was beautiful and so cosy. It was even better than the photos. My friends were super impressed with my choice of accommodation. The apartment was really convenient for everywhere we needed to go in Limerick and Nicole was very accommodating with flexible check-in and check-out times, and looking after my friend's luggage. She definitely goes the extra mile for her guests. The kitchen was really great as well with lots of spices/herbs in the cupboard so we were able to make a few dishes in the apartment during our stay.

Joan and Paul’s stable accommodation is very private and provided an authentic rural experience - especially the setting in a beautiful fenced garden and a couple of horses in the paddock next door. It was great having a fire (with the fire starters and wood supplied). We very much appreciated having a washing machine (and clothes rack for drying) plus a full oven and gas hob. There are also plenty of power points. The fresh eggs on arrival were also a nice touch - plus the vase of fresh roses. It was also very good to be able to park right outside our accommodation. The bed is very comfortable and the high quality linen is a real treat - particularly the Sanderson pillowcases on the feather pillows 😀

Glenmore - Home from Home

TracyRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
I would highly recommend this rental for a day or even weeks. it was clean and Dee and Kieran were the friendliest hosts I've ever had at an airbnb. they went above and beyond on sharing ideas, building itineraries, feeding us and just asking how day went and what we did. the home is beautiful and peaceful. 3 bedrooms so we all had our own space. Thank you for being amazing hosts and allowing us to stay in your beautiful home. Tracy

Your guide to Adare

Welcome to Adare

Nestled on the banks of the River Maigue, this enchanting corner of County Limerick is known as one of Ireland’s most charming villages. The remarkable history of the area can be discovered at every turn, with visitor attractions dating back hundreds and in some cases thousands of years. Thatched 19th-century cottages line the main road, many of them converted into intimate restaurants, fashion boutiques, and shops dedicated to the making and selling of artisan crafts and gifts.

Visitors seeking late-night bars or hip music venues can head into nearby Limerick, but Adare still holds its own with a thriving local pub scene. The village is also a notable golfing destination — one golf club has the captivating ruins of Adare’s 15th-century Franciscan abbey sitting at the center of the 18-hole course.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Adare

The winter months are always the low season for visiting Ireland. Heavy rain, ice, and snow are common in January and February, and although cozy pubs and cottages provide welcoming indoor havens, the temperatures outside can be biting. Spring and summer bring warmer days, although you will still need a sturdy umbrella: Ireland is renowned for its rainfall. May to July are usually the driest months, when locals flock to parks and open spaces for picnics, outdoor games, and sunbathing. Fall is also pleasant as the country’s verdant backdrop turns from lush green to a seasonal palette of oranges and browns, and Halloween mischief abounds at the end of October. To experience Irish hospitality at its most jubilant, plan to visit during the weekend in March, when the annual rugby championship finals coincide with the traditional St. Patrick’s Day celebrations.

Top things to do in Adare

Desmond Castle

Dating back to the early 13th century, Desmond Castle was a strategic fortress throughout the Middle Ages before being ravaged by English Cromwellian forces in 1657. Approach from the riverside path to get the best close-ups of the remaining structures that comprise this striking manor. Guided visits are run daily by the Adare Heritage Center during the summer months.

Old Irish Ways

Brimming with nostalgia, this unexpected museum is home to a collection of evocative artefacts and memorabilia, which tell the story of more than a century of Irish countryside life. The owner has curated a selection of farming and craftsman’s tools, and recreated an old-style pub, a traditional classroom, and even a milk and butter creamery. Linger and ask questions over a restorative cup of tea and some biscuits at the end of this delightful tour.

Grange Stone Circle

Steeped in mystery and ancient lore, this circle of 113 stones has been standing for more than 4,000 years, and is the oldest and largest in Ireland. Both a ritual site and an astronomical calendar, the circle is aligned with the summer and winter solstices. Self-guided tours are available.
