i shared a meal with antoine one evening. as we chatted over wine, i asked him what the years of travelling has taught him. he replied simply: “people are good. everywhere.”. our conversation moved to other things, but not long after, a young boy came to the window and said hello. in an act so fluid as to be second nature, antoine gave the boy some of his meal. later, another boy appeared, and the cycle repeated. i share this story because its emblematic of the generosity i experienced during my three weeks at antoine’s home. antoine is a community organizer, a volunteer and active participant in the neighborhood. he is kind, he is light hearted, and he is curious about others. he is a neighbor everyone would be lucky to have. whatever your travel plans are, if you have the opportunity to stay here- do it. i havent traveled as much as antoine has, and i can’t speak on the “goodness” in people all over our world, but in his home, there in the 1st arrandesmont- i absolutely agree.

We had a fantastic stay at this property. The location is fantastic and some of the features of the apartment are incredible- just look up at the wooden ceiling and chunky beams! Rami was very helpful with responding to questions. We would recommend this place for a stay in Lyon.

We stayed two nights and the apartment and wished we had longer. Great location, incredibly clean space, stocked with everything one would need, quiet, easy to check-in. What else could a person want?! On top of that, Estelle was delightful to communicate with and was always available for any question. Highly recommended!

Xavier is a great host, fast and helpful at responding to our questions and he made the slightly circuitous check-in process very smooth by sending photos that made it easy to manage. The apartment is older (has high ceilings and nice period features). Be prepared for "Les Pentes": this area of Lyon is cool, artsy and bohemian. There is a lot of graffiti everywhere but it's street art, not vandalism! (In fact, right next door to the building is an international school of art and design). I'm so glad we stayed in Les Pentes: so much character (compared to over-touristy vieux Lyon), great restaurants etc. The only problem we had was with the elevator. We were traveling with heavy suitcases and not thrilled to discover the elevator only operates from the first floor (not ground) and the afternoon we arrived wasn't working at all. So be prepared.
