Enjoy morning coffee on the leafy garden patio of this vibrant, Creole-style cottage nestled on a shady corner lot. Prep a meal within the funky-modern confines of the kitchen or wander the colorful interiors until you find a sunny spot on the couch. If you prefer to sleep in while on vacation, feel free to close all the wooden shutters to form a comfortable, dark cocoon in the bedroom and pretend like the rest of the world has stopped while you relax. When you are ready to get out and about, venture outside to explore the unique architecture of the Bywater and visit local dives and hangouts! This guest house is a creole-style cottage adjacent to a traditional shotgun (occupied by the host) on a shady corner lot in the Bywater Historic District. Originally built in the 1800s, renovated in 2007, and completely refreshed in 2017, guests will enjoy full, private access to this 600+ square foot, 1 bedroom, 1 bath cottage with a fully appointed kitchen. There is a queen bed in the bedroom plus a West Elm modular couch in the living room that comfortably sleeps one adult. Extra linens and pillows are provided. Flat-screen TV with DirecTV and DVD player. Washer/dryer in unit with supplies. Freshly-squeezed grapefruit and satsuma juice from trees in the courtyard, when in season (October - February)! Guests may feel welcome to sit in the courtyard, with a private patio just outside the living room door. We live on-site, and the door to our home is just across the courtyard from the living room or at the deck by your entry door. Should you need anything, we’re happy to be at your service. Otherwise, we'll leave you to the quiet enjoyment of the space and to enjoy your travels. The guest house is situated in the Bywater Historic District, a Creole neighborhood mostly known for its brightly colored architecture and creative community members. The neighborhood boasts easy access to dining and entertainment, and a number of hotspots are nearby including one of the city’s best brunches, a nano-brewery, and a wine bar with live courtyard jazz multiple times a day! The Crescent Park trail along the river is two blocks away and is a nice gateway to the French Quarter. The Crescent Park trail along the Mississippi Riverfront is two blocks from the house and offers easy bike/pedestrian/wheelchair access to the French Market (about 1.5 miles) along with the rest of the French Quarter beyond (Jackson Square is about 2 miles from the house). Multiple bus routes are within 2-4 blocks of the house, including Bus Route 5 two blocks away that takes you to the Quarter. The Rampart-St. Claude Streetcar Route is approximately 1.6 miles away at the intersection of St. Claude and Elysian Fields. Several local businesses offer scooter and bike rentals within a couple miles of the house, and a bike share station (Blue Bikes NOLA) is located around the corner. Uber/Lyft/rideshares are readily available, typically in 5 minutes or less at most times of day, and cost around $7-$12 to the French Quarter/CBD (or Central Business District as we in New Orleans call our downtown), depending upon traffic, time of day, exact dropoff location, etc. If you are driving your own vehicle, apps like "Spothero" will help you find and compare options for private or paid parking lots and spaces at your destination. On-street parking is typically pretty easy to find and no permit is required/no time restrictions exist. J&J's Sports Bar is across the street. While it can be great for watching a game close-by or for a night cap before you hit the sack, depending upon the day, it can also create conversation noise into the wee hours. Contemporary Upscale Renovation of a 746 sqft apartment in the rear of our private residence in a family oriented New Orleans Uptown neighborhood centrally located to great dining and local experiences. Called Studio Milan, our guest apartment is a large one bedroom apartment furnished with one QUEEN size bed in the bedroom and can sleep 4 when using the FULL size pull out sofa sleeper in the living room. There is a full bath with walk-in shower, full kitchen, washer and dryer, WIFI, DirectTV with 50” Flat Screen TV in the Living Room, Large Rear Patio with an Outdoor Gas Grill. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you might need.... gas stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher and a refrigerator with ice maker. Only a three block walk down to St Charles Ave Mardi Gras parade routes. You can enjoy being in the heart of Uptown parades within walking distance to your own place. Stroll over to the Historic Columns Hotel on picturesque St. Charles Ave to have a drink or dine on the front gallery as you watch the world pass by. Just a short walk down Milan Street towards the river leads you to the shopping, dining and nightlife of what is Magazine Street. Guest will have access to the rear patio and rear 1 Bedroom apartment with private entrance. Ample parking is on the street next to the apartment. We can meet you for both check-in and departure. If its a late arrival, text me that you have made it in to the apartment and are settled and we can catch up with each other the next day. Otherwise are only a phone call away should you have any questions or concerns. We love to share our favorite places to eat and things to do so you only have to ask. Three blocks off St Charles Avenue (Mardi Gras route), the home is ideally placed. The nearby streetcar line allows easy access to the city, Audubon Park and Tulane University. Explore the neighborhood pedestrian activity rich in local restaurants, coffee shops and watering holes. Magazine Street, a walk away, has boutiques, galleries, and restaurants such as Shaya, Cavan, and Apolline. The St. Charles Avenue streetcar line at Milan Street and St. Charles is easily accessible and will allow you to access different areas of the city - $1.25 one way fare. A three day pass is also available. And an Uber taxi is always close by. Its usually about a $9-10 ride to the French Quarter during regular travel demand.

Best Corner Uptown; Walk to Audubon Park; Ride Streetcar

This home is located in one of the very best neighborhoods in New Orleans and is within easy walking distance of the St Charles Avenue streetcar; two top-rated restaurants, a French bistro, several other casual restaurants, a wine shop, a cheese shop, a grocery, a neighborhood bar, two banks,, a hair salon, a nail salon, a dry cleaner and much more! Built in 1900, the home is accessed by the brick stairs leading to the porch landing and double beveled glass doors. There is plenty of on-street parking just outside the front doors. You are invited to relax and make yourself at home. Yes, you may play the piano! (It was just tuned!) In the building, 2nd floor only (it's plenty of space at 1700 sq ft). Guests are also welcome to enjoy the covered sitting area, the patio and garden and the grill, if desired. Use of the basement or third or fourth floors are not permitted for this rental. I am available by phone or text when needed, but want you to enjoy your privacy, so will not visit without an invitation. There are instructions inside the apartment and also a listing of recommended dining options and music venues. I have travelled to many countries and enjoyed the hospitality from people all over the world. It is my great pleasure to host fellow travellers in my home! Welcome!! Jeanie The house is in an area with some of the finest architecture in New Orleans. It’s one block to the streetcar and steps away from excellent cafes, restaurants, shops, and markets such as Zara's Lil' Giant Supermarket. This is the best walking neighborhood Uptown. Even Magazine street is only 6 blocks away. You can Uber or Lyft anywhere outside the neighborhood or take the streetcar to your destination and Uber or Lyft home I cannot say enough about the location of this apartment and the spaciousness and scale of the architecture.
