Welcome to a farmhouse style guest house built in the late 1800's located in the village of Utica-an hour east of Columbus and the entrance of Amish Country byway to Holmes County-an hour away. It is conveniently located on the corner of State Rt. 62 and 13...busy and noisy intersection; but cozy, private, and relaxing inside. You have the apartment to yourself-large kitchen with refrigerator, microwave, toaster, coffee bar, as well as pastries, snacks, and diy breakfasts available.
“This was our second stay at the Village Farmhouse, and it was spotlessly clean just as it was the first trip, and we have already scheduled a third stay. It was well stocked with bottled water, milk, pastries, cereals, and coffees with a K-Cup coffee maker. The antique bath tub may not be well suited to elderly and/or handicapped, and the bedrooms are both on the 2nd floor with very steep and narrow steps. There is wi-fi and a TV with DVR, but no cable or antenna tv, but we connected our lap top via a HDMI cable to their TV, and we were able to stream TV that way. The Village Farmhouse suits our needs, but it may not be every one's cup-of-tea.”
We have an 1840's Federal style brick house in rural Knox County, Ohio. We do not have WiFi but you will find peace and quiet, fresh air and a variety of trees and birds. Views from the house include fields, our barn and occasional deer. We are just seven miles from Kenyon College, Mount Vernon and the bike trail. The largest Amish settlement in the USA is only 40 minutes away. If you like to kayak, canoe or fish, you can access the Kokosing, a scenic river, in less than 5 minutes.
“Beautiful house on beautiful grounds that are fun to explore. There is a wonderful mix of experiencing a home from a different time with modern amenities. The board games and puzzles are a great touch. We hope to stay again. Great communication from friendly host, Jerry. We will definitely stay again when we are in the area.”
This new cabin is one of two on the property. Both cabins are private and off-grid (no power or running water). This cabin is accessed through a mowed field by a camp Jeep (provided) and has the amenities shown in the photos. It overlooks a creek and is a great place to view wild-life and get back to nature and unplug from the hectic pace of life. Play cards/games, read, hike and make memories. We offer a discounted rate of $55 a night for couples and $50 a night for a single.
“We are a family with two children, 10 and 6. We stayed in Brett's cabin in February and had an awesome experience! The day temp was 45 degrees and night 28, the wood stove kept us warm and comfy. I had to feed it wood every 2 to 3 hours to keep it going which was exciting to me since it was my first time using one. Kids loved the loft. We played badminton and frisbee in the open mowed field, grilled our dinner, made campfire, walked along the creek, stargazed, played card games, cooked breakfast, overall had a really great time unwinding.. Brett is truly a super host, the place is stocked with all essentials. He also warmed up the place, trained me to use the stove, baked us blueberry bread, introduced the kids to his dog Dixie and his lobsters.. I'd really recommend this stay.”
