A quiet 64-year-old house in the countryside

CarlotaRating, 5 stars1 month ago
The house is very new and clean, like the house in a Japanese drama, a few minutes walk from the beach, also highly recommended for solo travelers!I really like to spend time alone in the yard and by the sea.☺️ Although it is not in the city center, the owner has bicycles and it is easy to call Uber. There is no problem getting around/to the airport!Gushikawa Castle is a 10-minute walk away. It's very beautiful. I recommend cycling or walking ~

Anew villa on Tokashiki island, walk to the beach

A beautiful spot and a wonderful host. Picked us up from the ferry, made sure we felt comfortable and was always reachable when we had a question. The house is in a great location and spacious enough to stay at when it’s raining or too hot outside. Everything looked new and unused. We had breakfast and dinner in the garden space. The outside shower is great when u come back from the beach and don’t want to bring sand inside. Everything else is easily walkable. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

When we arrived, we realized that we were lucky to come across a golden family, kind, generous and welcoming, a family that knows how to live and knows how to make others live. Of all the Airbnbs from all over the world we've done, this one wins the prize for the best and if we could give it one more ⭐️ star, it would be well deserved. We left with a heavy heart, sad to leave such a beautiful place and such beautiful people. We've found new Nakamas and we're pretty sure our paths will cross sooner or later. See you soon.

The Japanese shoji and tatami house in Kumejima

MarieRating, 5 stars2 months ago
Kaori-san was incredibly kind and approachable, ensuring I had the best possible time in Kumejima—and I truly did! She provided thoughtful recommendations tailored to my interests, all of which were spot on. The house has all the advertised amenities, is well-kept, and remarkably clean. It isn't brand new, but that’s exactly what I was looking for—a vintage charm reminiscent of Japanese movies from the 90s or the countryside settings in Studio Ghibli films. While many see Kyoto as the quintessential Japanese experience (and it’s great, of course), this felt more like my kind of place. One highlight was booking a snorkeling trip with Kaori-san’s husband, which turned out to be unforgettable. He took me to a secluded spot accessible only by boat, where I swam alone in peaceful waters. The quiet allowed me to encounter a sea turtle and swim alongside her, as well as colourful, amusing fishes. A perfect blend of hospitality, charm, and adventure.

We had an incredible stay at Yuki's & Masaki’s place! Both were incredibly helpful throughout my booking, answering all my questions promptly and even providing local recommendations. The apartment was beautifully decorated, impeccably clean, and had everything I needed for a comfortable stay (kitchen equipment was top!). The location was also fantastic, close to the seaside with an incredible sunset view from the terrace. I can't recommend Yuki's & Masaki’s place highly enough!
