[Urban Studio] 40m2 in Koenji, 10min to Shinjuku

KarlaRating, 5 stars3 months ago
Staying at this hidden gem was an absolute treat. Pati, our wonderful host, made our first trip to Japan unforgettable by offering amazing recommendations for food, shopping, and travel. After much research on where to stay, discovering Koenji and Pati's place felt like finding gold at the end of the rainbow. The location was perfect for us, as we love to walk—stations were easily accessible by foot, and the Koenji shops were just a short stroll away. The space itself was perfect—spacious, full of natural light, with a lovely little balcony. The large dining table and open layout made it feel like a true home away from home. We stayed for 8 nights and it was ideal for a longer stay. Despite the cold weather and snow on the first night, the heating kept us warm and cozy. Hot tip: definitely rent a bike to explore Koenji and Tokyo—it’s a fantastic way to get around. Thank you again, Pati, for your kindness and hospitality. We can’t wait to return to our new favorite place in Tokyo! :)

Helen and Sozo were great hosts. They checked on us and made all instructions clear. The apartment is clean and quiet. It worked well for our family of 4, 6 might be tight unless you have small children. The location is in a cute neighborhood and was nice to come back to after a busy day in the city. 7-11 and restaurants all close by. Easy walk to JR line or subway. So glad we stayed here!

Shinjuku 15 minutes l 1 minute from station l Wood and light room l New interior

Hannie LynneRating, 5 stars6 days ago
The airbnb is very near to the station. The host even waited for us in the train station to help with the luggages. She was very friendly and recommended a lot of restaurants nearby that we can try. The neighborhood is very peaceful and it felt relaxing after a long day of touring around the city. The room is very spacious and enough for 4 people to freely move around. It is very clean, air condition is cold and there are towels provided. The towels could also be washed and changed upon request. On top of that, the host responds quickly and also sends us daily updates of weather forecasts. Since rain was forecasted during our stay, there were also a lot of umbrellas ready on the first floor. Overall, this is one of the nicest airbnbs we have stayed at. I recommend this place a lot and will definitely book this room again whenever we come back to Tokyo in the future!

Shinjuku Line#2min from Kikukawa St#Twin#FreeWifi

아름Rating, 5 stars1 week ago
I like it because the subway station is really close. And there were a lot of convenience stores, marts, and restaurants near the house, so it was convenient. Chikuzen-ya Motsu Yaki Kaku Yoshikawa Shop There was a restaurant here, so I just went in, and it was really the best. If you're staying here, you should definitely go! Most of the accommodations in Tokyo have the disadvantage of being extremely small, but this place is relatively spacious. But the bed was small, so it was a little uncomfortable. The bathroom is clean and the house is clean. Two of us stayed for 4 nights, but there were only 2 large towels and 2 small towels, so there weren't enough towels. Fortunately, I was able to use the washing machine, so I washed the towels and used them. They asked us to thoroughly separate the garbage, but it was a little different from Korea, so I was confused. Still, I tried my best. I was a little lost because the key to the accommodation was in a different key box than the one I was guided to when I first checked in. The price was cheap, so it was a little far from the main tourist attractions, but it was nice because it was easy to get around by subway. If I go to Tokyo next time, I'm willing to go again. It was a shame that the laundry room smelled a little. You can close the door, but it looks like it needs improvement. Thank you.

Very close, 10 minutes walk to the Akihabara area but in a very quiet part of town as well. Easy to find and access the place. Very safe and accessible to several grocery and convenience stores. The host was very organized and provided excellent communication. If you want a place that is close to everything yet quiet and clean, choose this place. Would definitely stay here again if I come back to this section of Tokyo.

Mita Hillside Villa | 4Br 3.5Ba

JeremiahRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
Overall, we had a great stay. Good location, good amenities, and plenty of room for our party of 8. We did a last minute booking, and they were able to turn the place around in a timely manner for our stay. The host met us at check-in, and was very responsive and periodically checked in throughout our stay. However, it should be noted that the house is located on a pretty steep hill which could be a cause for concern for folks especially parties with older/elderly guests as we could not drive up it, and uber/taxi did not drive up to drop you off. Other than that, the stay was great and worth the cost.

Our family of four stayed here for eight nights. The host couple personally welcomed us, brought us gifts, introduced us in detail the use of the appliances, facilities and precautions, and very thoughtfully prepared baby wipes, shower gel, toys and other baby supplies for the baby who came with us. The refrigerator in the kitchen on the second floor was filled with water, drinks, yogurt and other food for our free use.The house is very clean, the stairs to the 2nd and 3rd floor, kitchen, and rooms are spotless and impeccable. The surrounding environment of the residence is very quiet, the living atmosphere is strong, in stark contrast to the crowded downtown area of Tokyo, and there are convenience stores, fast food stores, restaurants, large supermarkets and other dining facilities within walking distance. The living room, kitchen, and living room on the second floor provide a convenient living space for our family. We will have breakfast together in the kitchen in the morning, start the day after eating, and rest and chat in the living room after returning to the residence at night. The Host was very responsive and always quick to respond to messages. More importantly, she was quick and enthusiastic to help us collect and dispose of kitchen and household waste during our trip. Tourists who have been to Japan know how important this is!The stairs to the 2nd and 3rd floors are narrow and steep (it can't be helped, it's a common problem in Japanese single-family buildings), it can be a bit difficult for the elderly who need to carry large luggage upstairs and have mobility issues, but the stairs are equipped with handrails to ensure safety when going up and down the steps. If you want to avoid the crowds of downtown Tokyo, this is a great place for a family to live.

The host was incredibly kind and responsive — when we realized the place wasn’t the right fit for our family, they graciously allowed us to shorten our stay without any issues. The unit was clean, spacious for Tokyo standards, and very close to Shinjuku Station, which made getting around easy. That said, the building and surrounding area weren’t quite what we expected. It’s near the red-light district, which may not bother everyone, but it didn’t feel right for us. The building is older, with worn common areas. We saw puddles in the hallway — possibly from the weather — and generators nearby added some noise. The elevator also showed its age. With a young child who has sensory needs, it felt a bit overstimulating — not because of the host, but due to the building and neighborhood. If you’re okay with a grittier, urban, high-adult traffic area and want access to Shinjuku nightlife and trains, it could work well.

This was a perfect spot for us and our 3 teenagers. We could get to the train stations easily, shopping and food choices nearby were abundant, and the host was amazingly responsive and accommodating. I especially appreciated how responsive the host was. We had some questions during our stay about the area and such, and they provided tips and help immediately. We also loved that they had water, juice, and coffee in the fridge for us when we arrived. After a long day of travel, the drinks were very much appreciated. If we were to stay in Shinjuku again, we would definitely stay here.
