Apartment vacation rentals in Shetland Islands

We were only at the flat for two nights, but it was lovely for our stay in Lerwick. It was in a great location for walking around the town and adventuring around Shetland. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook with, which was super helpful, and Tesco is close by. It was a nice end to our trip around Orkney and Shetland.

our 2nd time staying here, everything you could need is provided, it's a quirky wee place in the ideal location as a starting off point for exploring everything Shetland has to offer. we hope to return again next year.

So glad we chose Violet's apartment for our stay in Shetland. It is near Lerwick town centre and within minutes walking distance of the shops, cafes and visitor activities, but just far enough away for a quiet and relaxing stay. The apartment is spacious and very comfortable, clean and smart, always warm and cosy. The kitchen is well appointed and with quality white goods too. The shower was one of the best I have ever experienced. Violet is very friendly and welcoming, she stayed in contact to be sure to meet us when we arrived. We had a fabulous stay in Shetland, Violet's friendliness and thoughtfulness, the comfort of the apartment, and the location made it a very memorable trip.

Very well equipped and close to all that Lerwick has on offer. Loved walking to lookouts, restaurants and shops. Beds comfy and cozy lounge room. Would love to come back again!

We received a very warm welcome from Gordon and Heather as we visited their Hillside Studio for the second time. The accomodation looks and feels brand new, it’s attractive and spotless, providing everything we needed for a comfortable eleven day stay in Shetland. The studio is ideally situated for access all over Shetland, a great central base for exploring what the island has to offer. It is peacefully situated on a Hillside community of similar properties, with fantastic views and only five minutes from all the facilities of Lerwick. Notwithstanding the new feel that the studio already exudes, Gordon strives to make improvements which will benefit future guests. It’s a great place to stay and we plan to book again for a future holiday!

This is my third stay at Tony’s flat. It’s such a great location, with lots of parking on the street nearby and easily walkable to lots of places of interest & restaurants in Lerwick. It’s always quiet too. A perfect base for work or pleasure, with a great kitchen you can easily cook in if wished, a washing machine & comfy sofa!

Sound Lodge is a lovely place to stay and Gina & Neil are excellent hosts. The accommodation was very comfortable with lots of thoughtful touches that made us feel very much at home. Highly recommended!

exceptional welcome from hosts. fantastic location

We booked the apartment as it was central to Lerwick. It had a nice view of the harbour from which we could watch visiting cruise ships disgorging their passengers. The bedrooms were very comfortable and we enjoyed the kitchen for meal preparation, although we did make use of Da Harbour Chippie and C'est La Vie and Number 88 for meals! All of these less than 5 minutes walk! There were loads of leaflets about Shetland which we made major use of! We arrived at Sumburgh Airport and had a hire car from Bolts. Nikita's advice about where to park was excellent. We had lovely sunny weather for our week in Shetland, which was unexpected. We travelled the length and breadth of the isles to Unst (booking ferries for this makes it so much easier to plan your journey), Bressay, to St Ninian's and its tombola, and also Scalloway and the Shetland Bus museum. We were so luck to visit a couple of the Norwegian ships where we were here. So many thanks

We enjoyed staying at Stuart's self contained flat which was well situated and enabled us to visit many places in Shetland. We were welcomed by our host who where very flexible with our check-in time which we appreciated greatly. A lovely apartment which was well equipped. We did not need any help during our stay but I am sure support would have been available should we have needed it.

Comfortable apartment, very central location with free parking near by. Riddi was very quick to respond to any questions we had. There is a brilliant corner shop (Ellesmere stores) just a few minutes walk from the property which is great for all the essential groceries (including wine!) and saves a drive to Tesco.

Beautiful spot right next to the bay. Ideal for self-sufficient trip - right next to the bus stop for the 21 from Lerwick, a great shop and St Magnus Hotel. Lots of lovely walking and swimming round the Ness - I would recommend.

We had a lovely stay at James and Mandy’s place, so lovely that we’ve already booked to return in 2026! Instructions for locating parking and the apartment were spit on with great pictures. Parking was free and accessible. The apartment is in a fantastic location in Lerwick, walkable within 5 minutes to restaurants and shops (recommend booking restaurants ahead of time). The apartment is spacious and clean with all necessary amenities including a washer. Bed is comfortable. Our favorite thing about the apartment like so many others have mentioned is the lovely view over the harbor to Bressay. We enjoyed our morning coffee either on the couch or sitting at the table. We are looking forward to staying here again!

We had a great stay at number 9. The little house was cosy, clean and very well equipped with everything we needed for our short stay. The house is really central with shops and restaurants a few minutes' walk away. It was easy to park and only took a couple of minutes to walk to the house through pretty gardens. A great base for our explorations of the mainland!

Don’t look anywhere else, this place is perfect. Really comfortable, great position and beautifully styled. Best place in Lerwick to stay. Great communication from host.

As a solo traveller found Lindsay's place to have everything I needed for a pleasant stay on Bressay. I did not have a car and Lindsay was particularly helpful in collecting me from the ferry. One of the best self-catering places I have stayed at and would highly recommend. Go raibh míle maith agat.

With friendly, helpful hosts and a cosy, warm atmosphere, this one of the best places we’ve stayed. From the breathtaking views to the comfy and beautifully equipped accommodation with its warm and relaxing spa, Niki and Piet have created a true oasis of tranquility in a hectic world. While Shetland itself was even better than we’d hoped for, our trip was made truly special with our stay at Voortrekker.

Brilliant place to stay with amazing views! The apartment was pristine and had everything we needed, and Kim was lovely and welcoming - even being super accommodating with a late check out to give us time to do the Bressay parkrun. Would highly reccomend!

Voortrekker ranks as one of the top places I've ever stayed. Not only was the apartment very evidently thoughtfully handcrafted (half of the furniture is built-in) it was also very functional with everything well supplied, especially the kitchen. This was only made better by its location, with amazing views and perfectly positioned near the airport and for adventuring in any direction you'd wish. The spa is a fantastic addition. Lastly, Niki and Piet were incredibly helpful and knowledgeable hosts – plus they helped me out (twice!) when I had car trouble. As a woman travelling solo, the apartment struck the perfect balance of privacy/independence and security/safety. I highly recommend staying here!
