The cottage circa 1802 offer a peaceful private setting on a historic horse farm once part of Monticello with close proximity to wineries (10 minutes), town (12 minutes), Rivanna River borders the property, Carter mountain (8 minutes) and many other activities. A "Jimmy Buffet" salt water pool complex has a private Jacuzzi for each unit, double bars, two fire pits, frig ,full bath/shower/changing room) There is a private lake (catch and release fishing) and many places to walk on the property.

*Winter update: Jan/mid-March. Our fairly long flat gravel driveway is hard to navigate in snow. AWD, or heavier cars, are helpful. We will shovel some, allow sun to melt the remaining. FYI when booking. Spacious farm apartment(walkout apt below our living space) in the rolling hills of Virginia. Galley kitchen. Large fireplace. Private entrance. Stone patio. Close to downtown Charlottesville and UVA(+/- 8 miles). A few miles from Monticello, Many vineyards, and Carter's Mountain Orchard.

Hidden Gem near town and Monticello with a pool

We call this our hidden gem because it's not too far from town, wineries, UVA, Monticello and more that Charlottesville has to offer, but yet it's far enough away from the hustle and bustle. The renowned Clifton Inn, a popular destination wedding venue is less that 1/4 mile away. Thomas Jefferson's Monticello is a 7 minute drive. The campus of UVA is a 15 minute drive. We call this our studio loft because it has the feel of a mountain cabin. The views are gorgeous and the setting is peaceful.

Our place is a newly constructed barn loft in our 1960's barn. Enjoy beautiful views of the surrounding countryside from large windows and a private balcony. The barn is surrounded by our horse pastures and neighboring fields. Self check in with the key lockbox. This loft is separate from the main house where we live. Private parking and entrance for our guests directly outside of barn loft (this is separate from the main house driveway).

A Quiet Room of Your Own

The house has an aura of magical peacefulness to it... Everything is unique, thoughtfully curated, and evokes a feeling of familiarity yet awe of beauty. It made me wonder if Jenny is an artist or designer... It's one of those houses that you won't forget once you're there. The neighborhood feels like you're in a dream, so many gorgeous trees, rollings hills, gardens and plants. It's walkable to the river trail and to some sweet restaurants and coffee shops. You couldn't ask for a better location to experience the peace of the river and quiet neighborhood, but close enough to downtown Charlottesville to walk or bike. Jenny was super kind and thoughtful and responsive. We loved her sweet kitty Theo who we met on the porch. Overall, one of the most memorable airbnb stays I've had.
