“Paul and Eleanor’s place was the perfect quiet family getaway... The hosts were great, very helpful, accommodating and friendly! The trailer was equipped with everything we needed, plus extras, and in a beautiful spot. The area was beautiful with a lot of surrounding beaches (so fun to visit especially during low tide), a lavender farm (which we didn’t get around to, as we were too busy doing other awesome things!), a sheep farm (which we loved!), as well as other attractions great for a relaxing family vacation. We loved being in nature and away from all the hustle and bustle that the city life brings. We highly recommend this place and would return!”
Looking for a quiet getaway? The Hay Loft is a bright, open concept guest house on the upper floor of a converted barn. It's located on 20 peaceful riverfront acres, minutes from the village of River John. Enjoy beautiful views from your private balcony, go for a swim, or sit and enjoy the river from our private dock. There's plenty of places to go for a hike or a bike too. The Trans Canada Trail is less than 2km away. There's also lots of warm water, sandy beaches just a short drive away.
“The Hay Loft is a great getaway! Kristine provided the cutest welcome package and made our stay spectacular. The place was extremely clean and had everything you needed. We had so much fun playing with the Wii and watching Netflix! Would definitely recommend :)”
Thornbank Farm is bursting with history and tranquility. Rev. James Ross established The West River Seminary and Theological Hall here at this very site. Ross would later become President at Dalhousie University, Halifax, NS. The Farm is located on the east side of the West River, between the Durham and Lochbroom Bridges. It is nestled out on a peninsula along the West River. Fields, eagles, and giant old growth Maple trees compliment the overwhelming peacefulness of the West River.
“Nice little apartment with everything you need, nice hot shower with bath tub, coffee maker, stove, wifi and much more. Chris brought us 2 beers from the local brewery which we enjoyed a lot. He responded imediately to our messages. It was very cold outside (-20°C) when we stayed here. Make sure to bring some slippers cause the floor gets quite cold. We really enjoyed our short stay. The little farm looks beautiful!”
