  • Amazing place to stay and we will definitely be back to stay with sean again. The house was sparkling clean, and everything went very smooth. The house was heated and the lovely stove lit for our arrival. When we came back to the house on Saturday evening from a cold wet day, the stove was lit again and house warm for our arrival. The house is ideally located with the towns of claremorris, castlebar amd Westport a short drive away. The welcome we received from the locals was amazing and the hospitality in the local pub was something we will never forget. We are looking forward to our return already to Sean’s and Ballyglass. If you are booking - you will not be disappointed

  • Beautiful house, in a very secluded location.

    Christophe2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Sean's place is perfect for a cosy relaxing stay. We loved the turf stove. Good fully equipped kitchen.

    Stephen2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • It is a neat and lovely house, with more space than I expected. Two bathrooms, big kitchen. Good beds. Quiet place. And enough turf for the fireplace. The view on the mountains (from upstairs or outside) with snow on it between the green lands is fantastic. Lovely place to stay!

    Deborah2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Sean and his wife were very welcoming, fire was lit for us when we arrive and the cottage was so homely. Plenty of leaflets on what's available to do locally. Castlebar is nearby which has a great arcade for bowling games and a cinema. Westport is withington driving distance too. Plenty of options!

    Lisa2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay, lovely open fire when we arrived

    Helen2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Great host, place to stay and lots to do in the area. Lovely winter getaway with a fabulous peat fire which was lit for us each evening as we returned from a day out. Thank you Sean!

  • Sean's cottage was absolutely gorgeous. So close to Castlebar yet so tranquil and peaceful. Would highly recommend to anyone exploring Mayo

The neighborhood is quiet and scenic with views of the lake and mountains. On the lake shore are the ruins of Menlo Castle, build in 1569, it was the home of Sir Valentine Blake and his family. There is a pretty pier which is home to swans and other wild fowl. The narrow winding roads near the pier are dotted with thatched cottages. Menlo is in a Gaeltacht area (Irish speaking area)although all the locals also speak english. Although Menlo is a quiet village surrounded by farmland it is only ten minutes drive to the city centre.

  • Lovely space in a quiet place...Majella’s home is located on a quiet residential street. The home is welcoming and spacious. The room where we stayed was comfortable and tastefully decorated. The hall bath is large with several nice touches and has all the necessities. Breakfast is simple and self-serve. We enjoyed chatting with our host during breakfast prior to our departure. Would definitely visit again, should we return to Tuam.

    Bob2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice room. Big private bathroom. Very attentive host. Thanks Majella..

    David2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely stay as always 😄 Majella is a delight!

    Aine2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Majella and Arthur are a delight and a pleasure to meet. Warm and welcoming, their elegant home has a gracious and peaceful atmosphere. Just around the corner from the main hubbub, it is an ideal location. Majella graciously attended to my every need, while Arthur very kindly drove me to my venue for a weekend conference in the local area . Then left me at the bus top this morning for the onward journey . Yes indeed this is truly a “ home away from home experience”...My five star family certainly get my vote as top guesthouse in Tuam.

    J2019-12-07T00:00:00Z
  • At Majella´s place you can expect a warm welcoming and someone who can understand at once somebody else´s needs regarding lodging. Giving its location in Tuam, her place is just perfect to set up a bridgehead to drive around Galway´s county or other places further in Western Ireland

    Jose Antonio2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • We spent a lovely peaceful night in Majella's beautiful house with a warm welcome

    Bob2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • Majella and Arthur are absolutely wonderful and I could not recommend staying with them in Tuam more! The house was just beautiful and Majella was so accommodating and we felt so at home. We really looked forward to coming back to their Tuam house each night and just wish we could have stayed longer. We were blown away by their kindness and cannot wait to come back, no matter how far the detour we'd have to take!

Here in Kilconly, Co Galway, we offer our beautifully restored 17th century Cottage, ideal for a romantic retreat for two or somewhere for the whole family to enjoy an exciting Irish adventure! Healy's cottage consists of 1 bedroom, with one double and one single bed, living area and kitchen.
  • Beautiful Irish cottage with all modern comforts. Very pretty garden. Need to be aware that cottage is quite remote and can be difficult to find - particularly in the dark!

    Lyn2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Healy’s Cottage is like stepping back in time with all the amenities and comforts. It is immaculately looked after. It is very quiet with a few sheep that live next door! We needed some directions and the neighbors we met were beyond helpful. It is out in the country but everyone knew where Healy’s Cottage was so we never felt lost. Our hostess Sally was there when we arrived with a warm fire in the wood stove. All of her instructions were clear regarding how things worked. I can’t wait to visit again! A true Irish experience! Thank you sally !!!

  • I booked this Airbnb as a present for my partner for Christmas both Ray and Cathy were brilliant to deal and so helpful. The cottage was so beautiful and so warm and cosy. The night we booked storm Jorge hit and we had a lovely night stuck in the cottage with a big fire and lots of food and drinks till the storm passed. The little touches and beautiful layout can't wait to return. The hosts could not do enough for us and were so helpful

    Alice2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Ray and Cathy were kind enough to lit the fireplace so the house was nice and warm when we got there. The entire place was very welcoming and the bar in the corner just gave it that little extra touch that you can't get in many places. We couldn't have found a better place to spend our night while we were visiting Sligo and Galway. Next time I go to that area I'll definitely look and see if it is available.

    Alex2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • An absolute gem. By far the best Airbnb we’ve stayed in. All the extra touches and of course the bar! Ray welcomed us and had the fire roaring, a welcome sight in the middle of the storm. The place was spotless and had everything we needed. Highly recommend for a night or two of relaxation and peace. Will definitely be back soon.

  • A very quiet location. No wifi, good or bad depending on your POV. Lovely hosts, two lovely dogs, fresh air and not far from anything but feeling a million miles away from everything. Loved the homely feel and the historical hangings and of course that home bar....what a treat! Recommend!

The bungalow is situated 5 minutes walk from the centre of Claremorris with it’s restaurants, pubs and shops. There is a train station in the town as well as buses providing transport to Galway, Dublin and Westport. Knock airport is a 20 minute drive from the house and the shrine at Knock is 10 minutes. It is very well situated for exploring the West of Ireland. If you like walking explore the Wild Atlantic Way, Achill Island, Enniscrone beach or climb Croagh Patrick.
Being a bungalow the rooms are all on one level so no stairs to negotiate. There are 2 guest bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with a single bed. These rooms have exclusive use of the bathroom at the end of the hall which has a bath and over bath shower, wc and handbasin. You are welcome to use the fully equipped kitchen if you want to cook for yourselves as long as you wash up and leave it tidy. I provide a continental breakfast of juice, coffee or tea, cereal, toast and homemade marmalade. You may also use the garden patio if the weather is nice or the very comfortable living room with wood – burning stove and Sky TV to relax after a long day’s sightseeing or travelling. The dogs and I are happy to join you for a chat or we can retire to our own area and leave you in peace to enjoy the home comforts as you wish.
  • Lovely quiet bungalow on the edge of the town, stove was lovely and warm in the sitting room, and host said to make myself at home and had full access to kitchen and cooking if needed. Room was small & cosy with wifi and desk & chair and right next to bathroom which was spotless. Tricia the host was very helpful. Denis

    Don2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • One of the best and most excellent Air B&B experiences I ever had !! Prior arrival Tricia communicated very quickly with directions and tourist attractions to see in the area. Upon arrival I was stunned with the beauty of her house & big garden, which were decorated to the highest standard, cleanest rooms and bathroom facilities. Tricia asked me about my dietary requirements and made me a gourmet breakfast with fresh grounded coffee each morning. I was invited to use her kitchen, washing machine and beautiful living room. The house has a very positive atmosphere and the rooms are very private, the bed was super comfortable and the linen & towels of high quality .. like a 5*hotel .. . My stay with Tricia re-energized me, and it was a perfect holiday experience. Tricia was incredibly helpful with her time and advise, she is very professional, kind, respectful, caring and you can have a great chat with her :-) Tricia’s house is certainly the best place of you want to visit the Clarmorris area, it is very central and I highly recommend that you book several nights with her to get the full Mayo experience! It is a home if you are away from home and you will not want to leave :-) Thank you very much for having me Tricia and I look forward to book in with you during my next trip to Ireland :-))

    Uta2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • This was my best Airbnb experience so far. Tricia is an excellent host, very thoughtful and caring. She has picked me up by car and dropped me off when I was leaving too. We also went on a trip to a beach about an hour away. Tricia is very relaxed and always calm, enthusiastic about sharing stories and casual chatting, but also very respectful when you want some time on your own. The small town of Claremorris is very charming with all the amenities you need, a beautiful park and a lake, all within walking distance of Tricia’s house. I highly recommend staying with her as I definitely would again!

    Aneta2019-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • One of the best Airbnb experience I ever had so far, it couldn't be better than this! I highly recommend whoever visit to Mayo to stay in Tricia's house. She kindly pick me up from the bus station, when I arrived at her place I just felt like home immediately. The interior of her house is so beautiful with exotic decorations, very clean and also comfortable. She is a very nice person with good humour, I was very enjoyed to chat with her and being there. There is a lovely walk and a lake, you can walk to the shops or town, the breakfast was great, just everything was perfect for me. Thank you Tricia :)

Town house in the centre of Ballinrobe, with private parking and close to all amenities. This is the ideal location to base yourself if you intend touring in the West of Ireland-from Connemara to Killala, from Ballintubber to Balla. It is also near the Wild Atlantic Way, and the Greenway. You will get a great welcome and you will have free access to the sitting room to relax and to the kitchen should you want to cook. I will suggest scenic routes to take to tour or cultural events happening.
The house is centrally located in the town-just across from Flannery's Tavern. It is surrounded by other take out and sit-in restaurants and shops. Cong, with its famous Abbey and Ashford Castle, is 10k away and is a great spot for lovely wooded walks. Knock Airport is about 70km away.
A quiet area, though located right in this historic town, you will be able to walk all around the town. Ballinrobe is a small town, with loads of sites of interest-the old Workhouse, the Military Barracks, a number of mills, a lovely river walk called The Bowers, many sports grounds and a Leisure Centre. Children usually love the great playground in the Green. Ballinrobe is near the Gaeltacht areas of Tourmakeady and Cornamóna, providing it with a rich cultural flavour.

We had very nice talks and she even gave us a lift to a gorgeous place not too far from her home. We will miss staying with her and hope to come back.

    Lou2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wonderful space and outstanding location but all of this is capped by a most wonderful host who will put you at your ease right away. Sara is fantastic, very warm. Thoughtful & welcoming. The house is beautifully maintained and spotlessly clean. This was a special stay. I can’t wait to return.

    FeeneyMatt2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Sara is a very welcoming person, her house is perfect, we could cook without problem. Sara had booked us a shelf in her fridge and another in her closet. She did everything to make us feel comfortable on vacation. She even shared with us her birthday cake. Even if she does not speak French and we do not English, we managed to exchange with help google translation and a notebook and pencil. Sara will remain for us the best host we have had in Ireland (out of 5).

  • Willie's place was a like a home from home. Absolutely beautiful space - an inspiring and creative sanctuary where you could write, take time out, be creative. Truly inspiring. The music memorabilia and decor were amazing and the place had a truly lovely atmosphere with a Feng Shui vibe. Felt like a lot of thought had gone in to creating it. I think any musicians/artists/writers etc. would find this a wonderful retreat. Very privileged to have been the first guests. It was a lovely space to be able to escape from the reality of the current times we are in, in a safe way. Electronic weighted keyboard, wifi and chromecast were brilliant to have and meant could watch films, keep up with current affairs if chose to do so. Beautifully furnished and everything was sparkling and brand new. The bed was sooo comfortable. The seats were cool too although didn't really make use of them on this occasion apart from the couch. Cooking facilities were excellent and even had a coffee machine which for me was an added bonus. Unfortunately the pub was closed due to the current times but imagine this would be amazing for any music lovers and there was a pizza place downstairs which also did coffee. Didn't want to leave and can't wait to return. Willie was a wonderful and very pleasant host who got back promptly to any queries and had a guide to what might be on in the area which was very helpful. Ventured to Ashford Castle for lovely walks around the grounds. Would 100% recommend here. Thanks for an amazing stay!

  • Nuala was very accommodating. We asked for an early check-in which she facilitated and turned the heating on for us at this earlier time. The room was spacious and clean. It's a lovely house in a nice quiet area near Ballinrobe and walking distance to a picturesque lake.

  • Nuala is a great host! For the few hours we stayed in her house (ahaha), it was very comfortable and clean. She prepared the breakfast for us and some homemade scones, very delicious by the way! We absolutely recommend.

  • I recommend this place to ANYONE WHO IS STAYING near Galway.!! Innitially my boyfriend and I were going to just pass by Galway and go straight to Northern Ireland but our hotel there LAST MINUTE said that we could not check in late! (with super rude manners may I add) We were basically without a place to stay in the freezing cold and driving around in thick fog! Thank gosh for Nuala and her beautiful home near the city! The place was cozy, clean and super accommidating. Thank you for much Nuala for saving our butts and answering on such late notice on a late winter night! She was so quick to respond and the check in process was so easy. Again, I reccomend this place to anyone who is passing by Galway and wants to experience a true AirBNB superhost. Truly lives up to it. <3 Love Viv & Ken

Sunny, quiet, self-contained studio, own entrance in a beautiful organic garden. A 10-minute stroll from Annaghdown Pier. 25 mins from Galway City. Gateway to north Connemara. Fully equipped kitchen, bathroom, patio area. Sleeps two, Queen-sized bed. Travel cot available on request.
Annaghdown - Co. Galway Annaghdown is a rural community 25 minutes drive north of Galway city. It is nestled on the shores of Lough Corrib and boasts picturesque views across the lake to the Connemara mountains. It is steeped in rich culture and history, having both a renovated medieval castle (private, but viewable from the local pier) and a historic monastery founded by St. Brendan in the 7th century, including a sculpted window which is a fine example of Early Christian Art. Annaghdown Pier is great for swimming, fishing, kayaking, and other water-based activities. Annaghdown is the perfect location for those wanting a calm, rural retreat but with good access to Galway city, or even those coming for fishing or walking holidays, as it sits just on the gateway to the wild landscapes of Connemara. The accommodation is a private sun-room attached to the main family home. The surrounding garden is there for you to enjoy if you wish. The morning sun in summer allows for quiet breakfasts as you listen to the hum of rural life. Acquaint yourselves with the family's free-roaming chickens, watch the endless buzz of bees at the two hives, see if you can spot Pepper, the calico cat lounging in the flowerbeds, and, for those comfortable with dogs, an introduction to Eva the collie and Alfie the terrier can be made, but don’t worry if dogs aren’t your thing, the can be kept separate. This really is a dreamy rural retreat. The roads around are Safe for walking and cycling, with obvious road caution, so you can enjoy leisurely strolls.
Galwegians refer to this as "Lovely Annaghdown". On the eastern shore of Lough Corrib, Annaghdown pier was the where you left from on a day-trip to Galway City. Quiet and rural, with a Primary School and sportsfield, in a friendly neighborhood!

The house is on an acre of private property in the heart of County Mayo in the west of Ireland. The views from the front of the house are of Lough Carra, a 4,000 acre lake famous for it's fishing and diverse wildlife.
The property is on the site of what was originally a boathouse for a country estate built in 1786. The boathouse still stands to the rear of the property. The house itself was built in 1968 by my grandfather, a keen fisherman, as a holiday home. When my grandfather passed away my father started renting the house mainly to fishermen, he even had a boat hire business that he ran from the old boathouse. The house looks south onto Lough Carra, a 4,000 acre lake. We have decking outside the house and garden furniture to relax on and enjoy the serenity. There is almost an acre of private property for guests to roam around in and a large lawn to relax or picnic on. We have an open fire which is the primary source of heating in the living room. The internet is quick and there is a strong mobile phone signal from the house. We have a few board games, playing cards and a vintage Rubix cube to while away the evenings by the fire. Many guests park their cars, close the gate and don't leave the property for a week.
  • We loved our stay at Moorehall. Patrick was a great host. It is like a beautiful little sanctuary away from the busy world. A true gem of a place in beautiful Mayo. We will definitely be back!

    Deirdre2019-12-24T00:00:00Z
  • You won't find a more amazing location than Patrick's place it's simply stunning. The peace and the quiet are second to none and it's so beautiful. If you're looking to get away from it all and enjoy nature then you won't find better. The accommodation had everything you could need and we really enjoyed our stay, I can't recommend it enough.

    Laura2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Believe all the reviews, this spot really is as lovely as everyone says. Set in its own private grounds, right on the lake, this is an ideal getaway for, well, anyone looking to get away! Unfortunately, I wasn't blessed with good weather during my stay, but I still spent plenty of time out on the deck watching the lake and the many different inhabitants. I saw frogs, a swan family, starlings, moorhens, robins, magpies and, on my final morning, a grey heron, all up close (the frog sat in my hand!) . Completely unspoilt and with great woodland/ forest walks nearby in Moorehall. A really special place to stay. Bring all your own food and have a completely off-the-grid self-catering break. Also ideal for dark-sky watching- absolutely zero light pollution on a lake in a forest around 25 mins drive from any towns! Again, unfortunately, the weather didn't allow for much of this during my stay but I had just as good a time sat by the fire with the wind and rain beating down outside. Felt very safe here, despite being near nothing or no one. Really wish I'd had just one more day! For entertainment, Ballinrobe is a lively town with everything you could need (including a massive Tesco's for stocking up!) on an easy route around 25 mins drive away. Claremorris is roughly the same distance in another direction, lots of good places to eat and friendly people and independent shops. The cottage is simply a delightful place to zone out and enjoy wildlife. Absolutely delightful accommodation, a real find

    Lesley2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Patrick’s place was one of the most beautiful place where we have been. Right in front of the lake where you can do fishing and very quiet environment so you can sleep very well. He responded very quickly every time we had a question. If you wanna stay outside of city to look for a good calmness, this place offers you what you look for...

    Mami2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • This is an incredible place, very quiet and peaceful! A perfect spot to get away and relax a bit. Will absolutely be staying here again in the future.

    Will2019-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • A tranquil place to sit, be still and watch the world go by. This is a perfect hideaway or retreat for 1 or 2 with walks and nature right on the doorstep and a fire to spend the evening by. Wonderful

    Michael2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Definitely the place to go if you want to get away from it all. Was peaceful and relaxing. We spent most of our days sitting taking in the wonderful view which constantly changes with the light and weather. There was plenty of wildlife - a mink, the swan family, ducks, a coot, dragonflies, frogs, a heron, kingfisher (all seen on or around the jetty at the front of the house) and at dusk you can watch the bats and murmuration of starlings along the front of the house. Every morning I went for a walk around the garden to see what new mushrooms had come up overnight. Moorehall is at the back of the house on the other side of the road, lovely place for a forest walk. The house was better than expected as I had expected a glorified boathouse / shed and it was surprisingly cosy and warm. For a small space it is well decorated/designed with plenty of storage. The kitchen is more than adequate and has a lovely wooden worktop. The bed was very comfortable and has an electric blanket if needed. The house is a good base for exploring Mayo & Galway. We visited Kylemore Abbey, Clifden, Cong, Galway, Westport, Newport, Achill Island and Castlebar. Claremorris and Ballinrobe are both nearby for shopping or if you want to eat out. We visited The Old Arch in Claremorris a couple of times and the sunday lunch was really good. If we ever visit the area again we would stay here - excellent value for money.
