Places to stay in Scotland
Oak panelled walls, wooden window shutters, and warm parquet floors surround you. Choose from hundreds of books and read in a secret bed box behind floor-to-ceiling shelves. Family portraits and heirlooms happily coexist with works of modern art.
Romantic and stylish apartment, It's the perfect base from which to explore Edinburgh from. I've already had some great people come and stay, so I welcome you to my home. Edinburgh castle is a short walk away from the apartment, and the National Gallery, St Giles Cathedral, National Museum of Scotland are all close by. My apartment is on the fourth floor of an 18th Century tenement with views on to the historic Royal Mile. With all mod cons and a unique location, this is the perfect apartment to have as a base while you explore Edinburgh. The apartment retains the unique character of the Old Town with oak panelled walls and parquet flooring, mixed with family portraits, antiques and works of art, but also all the modern comforts of a home. It is on the fourth floor and is reached by a spiral staircase (76 steps in all!) For our American cousins that's a walkup :-) There is no elevator. The apartment is South facing and full of light by day. The hall has a cupboard to hang clothes/store shoes etc. There is also an ironing board/iron and a hair dryer kept here as well. The bathroom has a bath and a shower, there is always hot water and plenty of towels for you to have. Then through the main door off the hall, is the open plan living space. Five full height original Georgian sash windows face you as you walk into the space. Floor to ceiling book cases and a large period fireplace with French empire over-mantle mirror. There is free wifi throughout the apartment, also a big collection of fiction/history/cookery/poetry/art/design books to while away the time with and I have a music/radio player with an eclectic choice of C.Ds. Plus cards and board games. A large kitchen space with character and all the modern cons - toaster, fridge and freezer, dishwasher, oven, kettle, induction hob etc. However I don't own a microwave. There is a washing machine and there is washing liquid capsules for it under the sink, just put one of these inside the washing machine drum and close the door and turn to what ever setting you want. I do not have a dryer (it's not that typical here in Scotland/Europe) what I do have is a clothes horses which you can hang your clothes on. Their kept folded up in the hall cupboard. I hate staying in apartments on holiday where there aren't even any basics to cook with like salt and olive oil, so the kitchen is stocked with all the usual larder fare to help yourself to if you're cooking in. Plus coffee and all sorts of teas. I also have an honesty bar if you want to finish off with a drink or two after a long day of walking around town. By the windows is the generous dining space with oak dinning table and six chairs. The bed is a unique 'bedbox chamber' made from architectural salvaged fitted Scottish 18th/19th century carved oak. A floor to ceiling hidden panelled door lets you into this cosy space with reading lights on the headboard and it is fitted out with a British king size mattress - width 150cm and length 200cm, white cotton sheets, pillows and duvet. Mary Queen of Scots would feel quite at home sleeping in it! The living room area of the apartment is tucked at the West side of the room and has two good size sofas, reading lamps and is perfect to socialize in and also have quiet time with a good book. I hope to hear from you. I'm more than happy to answer any questions or give advice about Edinburgh/restaurants/bars etc All the best Calim
Edinburgh is beautiful and historic. This apartment is in the oldest part of the city, close to the castle. Museums, restaurants, and good coffee shops are really close by, as are the train station and airport links.
  • !! very nice !!

  • Staying here was a dream! I had everything I needed and Calim was super friendly and helpful. The highlight of my stay had to be those windows and the glooorious morning light - especially when the light shone through the chandelier and the room was filled with baby rainbows! I felt so comfortable here and would stay again in a heartbeat.

    Emily2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • I had a wonderful few days stay at Calim's place; it truly felt like a home from home. Centrally located, comfortable, beautifully decorated with small touches and kindnesses that really lifted this above your average rental. His recommendations for places to visit, eat and drink, or just take in the atmosphere helped make sure that my first trip to Edinburgh definitely won't be my last.

  • Absolutely wonderful! A beautiful apartment in the perfect location and Calum was kind and generous and offered us loads of advice and help during our stay. The best air BnB I've ever stayed in. 10/10.

  • Absolutely amazing stay, like stepping back through time! Fantastic location and the decor was amazing. So much attention to detail and so many thoughtful extra touches! We will 100% be back!

  • My favorite place I’ve stayed with Airbnb so far! The entire apartment was full of charm and character. Such thoughtful details, easy communication and beautiful location. Loved watching snow fall over Royal Mile from the warmth of the cozy couch with a book in hand! Calim was an amazing host and made everything super easy.

    Hannah2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment is absolutely beautiful and has everything you could possibly want or need! Calim is a fantastic host who made us feel very welcome and looked after. I am so looking forward to visiting Edinburgh and staying in this apartment again in the future. Highly recommend!

    Liala2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Everything about our stay at Calim’s dreamy place was exceptional. He has gone above and beyond to consider all the details to make sure your stay is perfect- before and during you’re stay. I loved opening my eyes each morning to the magnificent paintings, the chandelier and the sounds of bag pipes from the street. Hours passed one evening whilst flicking through Calim’s vast bookshelves with the Robert’s radio going in the background. Just perfect.

Retreat to the deck of this sustainable getaway and gaze at the twinkling constellations under a cosy tartan blanket. AirShip 2 is an iconic, insulated aluminum pod designed by Roderick James with views of the Sound of Mull from dragonfly windows. Airship002 is comfortable, quirky and cool. It does not pretend to be a five star hotel. The reviews tell the story.
The kitchen has a toaster, electric kettle, tefal halogen hob, combination oven/microwave. All pots and pans, plates, glasses ,cutlery provided. All you will need to bring is your food. worth stocking up on your way in as Lochaline is the nearest place to shop which is 8 miles away.
The AirShip is situated in a beautiful, secluded position on a four-acre site. Stunning views reach across the Sound of Mull towards Tobermory on the Isle of Mull and out to sea toward Ardnamurchan Point.
  • We have a lovely weekend! Airship is incredible! Everything was so comfortable and clean! We don't wanna leave :)

  • It was such a good experience staying here, such a peaceful place we both absolutely loved it! Would recommend it to anyone

    Lucy2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Such a unique place to stay in a beautiful wild location. I feel rested and recharged after a peaceful two night stay. Even the weather didn’t spoil our trip as the airship is even more cosy in the wind and rain - there’s nothing like an afternoon in front of a wood burning stove with a glass of wine or two, some good music on the radio, good company and a sleeping dog curled up at your feet. Excellent - definitely recommend.

    Emma2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • 2nd visit to this truly spectacular accommodation - Airship 002 The perfect destination for a relaxing weekend away from the hustle and bustle of life. We will be back!

  • Wonderful place to relax & enjoy a hidden part of Scotland. Didn’t want to leave!

    Adrienne2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful, magical and unique experience. Very cosy and comfortable with everything you could ever need and so much more! Such a quirky place to stay and a once in a lifetime opportunity to spend time in your very own airship. Amanda is an amazing host. We cannot thank or praise her enough. Communication and welcome were amazing. Would absolutely love to make a return trip. The perfect get a way for couples.

    Gina2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • The Airship 002 is everything the photos portray it to be. We happened to stay there a stormy weekend in February and were more than happy to hibernate in such a beautiful place. The windows really make you feel like you’re in the landscape and every aspect of the design works seamlessly. I’d recommend it to anyone and would go back in a heartbeat.

Authentic medieval mini castle with roaring log fires and all modern comforts. In beautiful countryside on the River Tweed. Ideal for exploring the Scottish Borders. Biking at Glentress 5 minutes; Edinburgh 45 minutes; Peebles nearby. Heavenly walks.
Enjoy staying in a cosy, romantic miniature castle with all the luxuries of the 21st century. There is a luxurious double bed on the top floor and a possible 2 extra single beds in the Sitting Room.
The rolling hills and romantic valleys of Peebleshire are some of the loveliest in the land. World class Glentress is nearby for keen mountain bikers and Peebles is full of charm, with an award winning chocolatier and plenty of interesting shops.
  • This is a must stay place for anyone. The attention to detail is exemplary, sympathetically restored to an extremely high standard. The circular tweed walk (around 5 miles) is certainly worth doing as it's on easy flat terrain. Roaring log fires in both the lounge and kitchen make for cosy evenings in. Highly recommend and will definitely return.

  • Well, how to begin! Barns Tower is amazing! The history is well worth reading, as well. The place is exceptionally clean and tidy. What a wonderful experience to stay in such an old building with so much character. The personal touches - bread, milk, eggs, butter, cereal, and fruit were so nice to have. For us, the location was perfect as we hiked the Tweed Path and other areas in and around Peebles. A definite "must stay" when visiting the area. Even if you are not, it would be worth going out of your way to stay in this incredible place. Thank you, Lulu! We absolutely loved your place...

    Catherine2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wee treasure. We had a wonderful time and loved the environment with the river and abandonned railway. The castle was very clean and comfortable.

    Lobke2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • A truly unique and beautiful place to stay. The property has all the amenities you could need. It is in a great location for walking and for a day trip to Edinburgh.

    Rebecca2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • The Castle is beautiful and even better than it looks in the pictures. It’s cosy and very peaceful. I’m sure we’ll come back for another visit. Cheers, Jack and Emma

    Emma Selina2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was perfect: a warm welcome with touches of attention, perfectly clean places, heated rooms, complete kitchen equipment, sufficient bathroom linen, etc. It was a magical stay in a tower steeped in history in the Scottish countryside. The walks in the surrounding countryside are superb: fields, woods and river ... and Lulu offered us a private tour of the Neidpath Castle: exceptional! One of our best AirBNB experiences

    Fabienne2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • What a fantastic castle! Absolutely brilliant! Lovingly restored to an exceptional standard, warm and cosy - you'll not want to leave!

    Justyn2020-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing find! A gorgeous ‘castle’ set on the grounds with other properties, we felt incredibly grand entering to stay. The gate and door were so much fun and the history of the castle was explained once inside. Impeccably clean and great cooking facilities, this cosy accommodation is a must stay and with the novelty of the spiral staircase, spacious rooms and considerate additions of food in the fridge, it was certainly hard to leave after our three nights.

Detached studio with majestic, cliff top views over Lochbay and Waternish to the village of Stein & across the sea to the Outer Hebrides. We have the most amazing sunsets! Open plan, cosy, yet light and airy; a peaceful haven in which to relax. We've tried to create self catering, that is a tad out of the ordinary, with funky textiles & quirky local touches. Modern facilities, huge drench shower, dishwasher, log burner, free wi-fi. Huge Overwater House, next door, for a couple, also available.
The larch clad studio was designed by us to make the most of fabulous views. The living space is dominated by the huge window, right next to this is the comfy couch. The ceiling is high to create a light and airy feel to the compact, open plan studio. The oak floor helps to give the space a feeling of warmth and luxury. Opposite the couch, in the corner, is the log burning stove and on the same wall the tv. The kitchen is well equipped with a vintage oak table at which to eat. Everything in the studio has been made or chosen with love & care. We've consciously tried to avoid the neutral, high street look. The bed is king-sized with Egyptian cotton bedding. Included in the price is free WiFi. There is a small decking area on the sea side for guests to sit out on. The garden is enclosed. There is a privacy fence to shield the studio from the house next door. Logs are also provided for the stove and all electricity is included. The bathroom has a huge, walk in, drench shower. We’re not fans of fabric conditioners or tumble dryers so although the towels are Egyptian Cotton, they’re not the softest.
Waternish, in the north of the island, is one of the most beautiful parts of the Isle of Skye. It has magnificent views across the Minch to the Outer Hebrides. Blue Moon studio has undoubtedly one of the finest views on Waternish. Sit by the huge window & enjoy the constantly changing light on the water. There are wonderful boat trips from the local jetty. We're close to Stein with the oldest pub on Skye & Michael Smith's, 'Lochbay Restaurant'. Skye is 'foodie' heaven!
  • Blue Moon Studio is fantastically located and fantastically clean. The host was excellent at communicating and made us feel very welcome. We didn’t want to leave and would love to go back 👍🏻☺️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

  • I had an amazing time at the Blue Moon Studio, and on Skye. A great escape from life back home. The location on Loch Bay was perfect for me...to walk to Stein, to drive to the Talisker distillery, Neist Point, and The Three Chimneys for dinner Sunday night. I could spend hours looking out the window at that stunning view! And I'd strongly recommend being at the studio for at least one sunset! The little welcoming touches provided were really appreciated...the wood for the stove, the shortbread, the coffee and a bottle of wine. Additionally, Jayne was advising on possible travel issues (because I was staying in February when the weather was a bit iffy). And offering tips on where to go for a lively Skye experience. I'd definitely stay again!

  • Blue Moon Studio was a perfect getaway with a spectacular view. David and Jayne were excellent with their communication and check in was very straightforward. The studio is a lovely space and is in a great location to explore lots of different parts of Skye. The wood burning stove and view were particular highlights but the whole place was lovely and sparkling clean. Couldn’t recommend it more highly and will definitely be back for future visits!

  • Blue Moon Studio was the perfect space for us to relax for a long weekend up on Skye. The view from the living room will be extremely difficult to leave. David & Jayne’s local knowledge helped us massively as it was our first time visiting Skye.

  • Beautiful place - amazing location, house lovely and had everything you need with a fully equipped kitchen. Lovely wood burning stove. Beautifully decorated lots of good information and gave us good advice on local running routes! Hope to visit again in the summer!

    Zoe2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommended - accommodation, location, special touches, wealth of useful info and tips for things to see and do. Will be adding an 'owner biography' page to my cottage folder - such a clever touch if you like the full picture!

  • An excellent place to stay on Skye. Close enough to Portree but in a quiet location with beautiful views. The accommodation was top notch with great little touches to make it comfortable and homely.

  • Blue Moon Studio is like staying in a small slice of heaven. When we arrive we were welcomed with a lovely hand written note, wine, and buttery short bread cookies. It’s located above a peninsula next door to a property with gorgeous highland sheep dotted all over the land. The wall along the combined kitchen and living space is a huge window overlooking the water. There’s a wood stove with plenty of wood that is cozy and comforting. The entire studio is filled with local art, pottery, blankets, pillows, and such. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need to prepare meals. In fact we only dined out one time in the four days we were there. The bed is dreamy, we would’ve been happy to just stay in that bed all day..... but there are so many beautiful things to see and do in the surrounding areas, we made ourselves get up! Robby and I stay in Airbnb’s whenever we travel and we have to say this place is one of the best places we’ve ever experienced. We are already planning our next visit. If you want rest, relaxation, and peace, this is your spot! Cheers!

  • A fantastic retreat! We loved the lodge and wood fired hot tub, perfect for when the hail started coming down! Lovely walks nearby and a small and friendly community. Lodge is very well equipped with plenty of cooking equipment , Sky tv and local tips. Great view from the master bedroom over Loch Awe, perfect place to unwind and enjoy.

  • Leave those smart gadgets at home and relax in superb natural surroundings with the beautiful loch Awe gentle waves swilling on the beach a few yards away, sit in the beautiful authentic hot tub watching the beautiful clear night skies, very romantic location or family hub to go and explore!

  • We had a fabulous pre Christmas break at Lochside. The lodge was even better than I hoped. I had worried that we might be overdoing it with 6 plus a dog but it is deceptively spacious and very well equipped. I had no problem cooking a Christmas dinner here. The location is stunning and we spent many hours in the hot tub overlooking the loch even when it snowed on us! Well worth the 7 hours drive

  • Wonderful cabin right on the loch. The hot tub was fab and natural stone fire pit fantastic. The views from the upstairs bedroom were breath taking to wake up to every morning. Enjoyed every minute of our stay and cant wait to go back. Well worth the 9 hour journey from london! The locals were friendly, in the villiage shop/cafe and community bar. The food was great too. Not one single complaint! Could not have had a more peaceful fabulous holiday.

    Jenny2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • This is a very comfortable get away from it all log cabin. The setting is wonderful right on the side of wonderful Loch Awe with rolling hills backdrop. The hot tub is wonderful a true treat. The beds are comfortable and the kitchen is well stocked with utensils. the owner left thoughtful extras midge spray, tips on how to stop them attacking. shelve full of books and games. it was sparkling clean and we felt at home straight away. The road to it is long and narrow (not that it bothered us) but it is well worth it.

Serene rustic-chic. Stunning, quirky & sophisticated. Quietly thrilling. Illuminated ancient nesting boxes. Tiny bedroom in tower with double bed & garden view. Ground-floor bathroom. Pull-out sofa-bed downstairs (115cms w. mattress). Bespoke kitchen beneath mezzanine. Lit cavern under sturdy glass floor-panel. Tranquil private scented garden terrace. Skillfully designed, this is a bright captivating treasure. Central heating. Heated floors. Wood-burner. Free parking.
This small stone cottage, that was once a home for pigeons, is self-contained. It is historically fascinating and architecturally intriguing with stone doorways, beautiful old wood beams and wooden steps. Within an extensive mature walled garden, a stone path leads under a rose-arch to the quaint 1600s cottage. A glass front door opens into an enchanting calm atmosphere. Beneath part of the floor, under sturdy glass, an ancient vaulted cavern can be glimpsed below. Above, in the tower, is a tiny loft bedroom with a double bed, Egyptian cotton sheets, and a window overlooking the private garden. Illuminated ancient nesting boxes line the walls. It is quiet. Next, on the ground floor, is a bright sitting/ dining room with original stone walls, a high ceiling and skylights. Beneath a small mezzanine is the neat bespoke L-shaped kitchen, rustic-style, with a fridge, 2-ring gas hob, microwave and convection oven, kettle and toaster. Counter-tops and the table are made from slabs of a cedar tree that once grew in the garden. The building is 2.4m wide. The wood-burning stove is opposite a pull-out sofa-bed (115cms wide mattress), and the whole ground floor has underfloor heating as well as gas central heating. The wood-lined bathroom, with a luxuriously large wet-room style shower, has a skylight with views of apple tree branches. A chunk of cedar wood, with the bark retained, contains the basin. Skilfully designed, this is a captivating little treasure. It is an extraordinary and rare delight that will enchant guests.
Within 5mins walk of the upmarket lively areas of Bruntsfield and Morningside where there are supermarkets, shops, restaurants and cool cafes. 20mins walk through park to the city centre. One parking space for an ordinary sized car. Long or high vehicles will not fit because is a very sharp left turn at the entrance and overhanging branches.
  • I don't even know where to start honestly. From the moment we arrived here after a hectic hellish few days of travel and hearing all the coronavirus chaos at home and feeling overwhelmed, stressed, anxious...this place was like arriving at a home away from home. Like that first big deep breath after coming to the surface . Sarah greeted us in the rain and led us through a tunnel of roses and vines like being led into something from a fairy tale and generously showed us around the cottage and was thoughtful and kind . We had trouble lighting the fire and Sarah graciously came over and helped us get it going even though it was quite late. Due to virus scare a lot of our plans were cancelled and sadly a lot of Sarah's guests had to cancel their stay which was sad but good for us in that we were able to stay an extra night...it was much needed. I didn't want to leave (ever really) The fire was perfect, the bed felt like sleeping in a feathery heavenly nest. The heated floors were phenomenal . The bathroom was clean and modern and the shower was hot and had amazing water pressure (I'm picky and it was above expectations) The location was so so wonderful ...20 min to city center and shopping . We walked in every day. Perfect bit of exercise to wake you up in the morning on the way to grab breakfast and coffee or walk off that last pint. Then there's the host. I feel like I cannot even put in to words how lovely she was. She was easy to get ahold of, fantastic to talk to, and during the height of all the crazy going on we were able to encourage each other and come along side each other . At one point one of us kind of felt a little warm and was getting nervous about being sick and she brought us a thermometer and kept checking in. luckily there was no sickness involved and Sarah was encouraging and kind and didn't feel like I was bothering her a bit. Truly this place was a safe haven in a really difficult scary time. I was ready to send for my kids and just move in. All this long winded answer to say.. if you want a place where you can feel safe , secure, as if you're at home , while simultaneously feeling as if youve walked into a fairy tale...do not hesitate to book this place. The only disappoinments we had were that we couldn't have stayed our whole time there and that we would've been able to come when the incredible gardens were in full bloom. We will most definitely tell everyone we know to stay here if visiting Edinburgh . And maybe someday in less scary worldly times come back again to enjoy this little slice of heaven. Cheers X

  • We loved our stay! What a beautiful, unique space - so thoughtfully and creatively converted, super cosy and well located. Very friendly host who clearly cares a lot about the history and design of the property. Thanks for having us Sarah!

    Gabrielle2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah's Dovecot is beautiful and also much more spacious than we first expected. The bedroom at the top of the Dovecot is perfectly cosy and if you leave the blinds open you can see the moonlight come in onto the sloping ceiling. The whole place feels very private even though it was a short walk into the city centre. The bathroom is warm and the underfloor heating very luxurious, especially since we stayed in February. There was a log burner but it was so cosy we didn't need to light this. I would recommend the Dovecot for anyone who wants to stay somewhere that feel special and unique. Sarah was very polite and helpful and a great host.

  • This is an absolutely stunning cottage in the heart of Edinburgh. Within walking distance of the Old and New Town, it is easy to get to everything you will need for a very enjoyable stay. And for those of you who are not as familiar with the area, the owner does an amazing job of providing information on restaurants, attractions, etc. From the spacious shower to the heated floors to the fireplace and the loft bed, everything has been meticulously thought and offered. It was quite windy and rainy during our visit, but we stayed snug and warm in the dovecot. An amazing place and highly recommended!

    Jennifer2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This is a special little place in a great location - in a large private garden yet minutes from great cafes and access to the city. We adored the cottage - a complete one off and what I think Airbnb is really all about. Highly recommended as a romantic bolt hole for couples - but we actually had our son too and it had plenty comfy space for us all. Loved it.

    Carron2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely place! This dovecot is full of charm. This was one of the most unique Airbnb’s we’ve ever stayed in. We really enjoyed our time and could not recommend it enough. Sarah is also a thoughtful and attentive host. Thank you for everything!

Biggar is a historic market town, Coulter has great walks and an excellent old pub - The Mill Inn. The woodland around the bothy has many species of birds including sparrowhawks and firecrest wrens, the occasional fox and regular visits from deer.
  • Wonderful stay, definitely easier to get around with a car but fairly easy if you rely on public transport too! The outdoor shower is such a great addition to the cabin, it’s also been so great to wake up to the sight of the woods every single day - I’ll definitely be back in summer!

  • The Bothy is a beautiful, quiet place to get away and relax! Even in February, with the stove it’s warm in the evenings ! Sit outside watching the waves with a cosy fire on chilly evenings. Climb the oak library ladder and drift off to sleep to the sound of the sea. Curl up next to the log burner with a good book, or stroll along the beach to spot seabirds and seals.

The kitchen area is well equipped with 2 burner induction hob, combi microwave oven for baking, cooking and grilling and under counter fridge/freezer. There is a spacious shower room with heated towel rail and sliding oak barn door. Fast WiFi, Bluetooth speaker and digital radio included. Outside, the private terrace has comfortable reclining chairs, a dining set, bbq and fire pit and of course the stunning view! The cottage sits in the large garden of the main house which is divided into upper and lower apartments. The lower flat is listed on airbnb as Beach Cottage. Both properties have separate street and beach access and the right side of the garden is for the use of the lower flat while the left is for the Weaver’s Cottage. If your looking for something a little different then The Bridge House might be just for you! My unusual 2 bedroom home is actually build on a bridge spanning the River Ardle in 1881. Charming original features including stone spiral stairs, traditional Scottish timber clad walls, stone/pine flooring and even a privy directly over the river below! Recently renovated. Quiet, peaceful and rural location. Pretty views from every angle. Sauna. Category A listed.
The adventure begins as you enter my front door with a winding stone spiral staircase leading upto The Bridge House. The top of the stairs opens into the conservatory dining room. From here you can access the little bedroom and kitchen/sittingroom. The little bedroom has a small double bed, great views upriver and a quirky privy from olden days! The kitchen sitting room is surrounded by traditional scottish timber clad walls and floor. It has a cosy log burning stove and pretty views downriver. The kitchen is fully fitted with everything you need. From the kitchen sittingroom you access the romantic master bedroom with kingsize 4 poster, smart TV, ornamental fireplace and fitted mini wardrobes. I hope you'll sleep as well as I do with the peaceful sound of the river below. The bathroom has a choice of shower or bath. There are stone walkways all around The Bridge House with magical views down to the river below. They connect with the veranda seating area nestled in the castellations and a small sauna in a mini stone 'outbuilding'.
. Peaceful and rural. Listen to the river below and sheep in the distance. . Great walking all around. Cateran Trail is just 5 minutes up the road. . Traditional pubs in Bridge of Cally and Kirkmichael with good food. (5 minutes by car.) . Tourist hotspots of Braemar, Pitlochry, Dunkeld and Perth all within an hours drive. . The sense of overwhelming peace, tranquility and joy you will feel simply by sitting in front of the fire whilst watching the river run by will stay with you indefinitely. Amazing host(s) and superb communication. Thank you sincerely.

  • The Bridge House is a unique property on a bridge over the river. It was a lovely place to stay for my birthday weekend. The surrounding area is beautiful and there are some great walks, especially along the Cateran Trail, which is right on the doorstep. The house is cosy, comfortable, nicely done out and has everything you could need. After getting wet and cold outside it was fab to heat up in the cute sauna and chill by the wood burning stove. Mimi was very responsive with our queries before we went and Frax (her co-host) was very welcoming and on hand if we need during our visit. Would definately recommend. Would also be great in warmer months, when the outside seating on the terrace would be a lovely spot for a glass of wine after a day outside.

  • If you want a quiet rural getaway, then this is the place. The surrounding areas make for some excellent walks if you wish to go off and explore. The accommodation was fantastic, quirky and clean. The bed was the most comfortable we've had whilst using an Airbnb and we couldn't hear a sound from the bedroom. Excellent value and we plan to return when the weather is better to some more exploring. Definitely 5 star

    Ronnie2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • The Butterfly Cottage is the perfect place for a few nights away, with some nice walks nearby and lovely views. The bed is the comfiest thing I’ve ever slept on, it was like lying on marshmallows, and Anita and Bruce were very nice and extra helpful - we used their local guidebook to decide what we were doing throughout the day. Would definitely stay again if we were in the area.

    Ben2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed at Anita's and Bruce place for couple of nights. Unbelievably beautiful views and amazing cottage, most romantic place for couple I could ever imagine. My girlfriend was almost crying when we had to leave. Definitely coming back.

  • Lovely place to stay, very cosy with everything you could need. The cottage has amazing views, and we loved watching Anita and Bruce's dogs playing outside. Bruce was very helpful when it snowed the morning we were due to leave, dug our car out and advised us on the safest road to take to the main road. We will definitely be back in the better weather!

    Katherine2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was extremely cosy and clean, and provided a wonderful base for our trip to the Pennines. Lots of great walks nearby, and Anita and Bruce were available if we had any questions. Homemade bread on arrival was a lovely touch - would highly recommend to anyone looking for a nice, quiet retreat.

  • My partner and I had an absolutely fantastic stay at Butterfly Cottage. We were visiting during Storm Dennis but it was still stunning in the snow! Anita and Bruce gave us tips on walks we could do near by and we were happy enough to sit and enjoy the cottage when the weather was really nasty! Perfect location, perfect hosts, perfect place to stay! Thanks both :)

My apartment is situated in the heart of Dean Village, a tranquil area located 10 minutes from the busy city centre. It is a 10 minute walk to Princes Street with the Water of Leith, Stockbridge and the New Town close by. The apartment is small and cosy, located within a 19th century courtyard providing a unique charm to all of its guests. It is the perfect location for couples, solo travellers and business travellers.
The apartment is very cosy, calm and close to the city centre. With it's simple interior and beautiful views of the courtyard, it is the perfect location to really experience Edinburgh and it's history
Dean Village is a tourist attraction in itself, a hidden village within the busy city of Edinburgh. It contains a mixture of 16th, 17th and 18th century architecture and is the perfect place to find peace while enjoying the beautiful surroundings. It is also close to the Water of Leith which you can walk along, enjoying nature and guiding you to the nearby bars, shops and cafes located in Stockbridge.

  • This flat is a very unique place, located in Dean's village, a lovely residential area with Victoria buildings, charming river, and everything you'll need. I was delighted to see such a special part of the city. Also, communication was simple & easy. Great suggestions such as Kay bar, a traditional pub close by.

The Blacksmith's bothy is a traditional black house with thick lime washed stone walls. These compliment a modern kitchen and wood burning stove. Set in a peaceful location, the building is over 100 years old. It is surrounded by croft land and spectacular cliff top walks. Situated very close to Spar cave and 5 minutes drive to Elgol. A private, screened deck area and hot tub is adjacent to the bothy with sea views through a wooded glade. Perfect as a romantic retreat.
The Blacksmith's bothy is a renovated traditional old blackhouse bursting with character. You will find a bright clean space containing a brand new kitchen, a dining area, rocking chair, state of the art CD player music system with a wide variety of music, a battery operated DVD player and selection of films as well as a beautiful bespoke day bed so you can be cosy and comfortable in front of the wood burning stove whether having a romantic evening or relaxing during the day. The house is decorated to reflect the owners passions for art. Some of the prints are the owners own work. There is also a display of blacksmith tools from his own workshop. Creative workshops are available by request if booked in advance but the bothy is a completely private space for you to enjoy and relax. The kitchen is equipped for you to fully self cater and contains a microwave, a fridge and two electric hobs. There is also a kettle , toaster and a cafetière for coffee. You will not however find an oven, a grill or a freezer. We want to make you aware of this so you can plan your shopping. There is a small ice box which would fit one or two items only. Adjacent to the bothy you will find a raised deck area with a wood fired hot tub lit with fairy lights and optional insect screening. Also you can enjoy dining out at a table with two chairs and a bbq. A selection of wetsuits are available to borrow should you wish to swim in the sea at the bottom of the croft.
Glasnakille is a spectacular secluded village in South Skye with commanding views over Loch Slapin towards the Sleat Peninsula. There are also views of the small isles of Eigg and Rum nearby. `The mountains of knoydart can be seen in the distance. There are very quiet roads on which it is possible to walk or jog. You can walk the coastal path to Kilmarie which then takes you into Camasunary bay and the heart of the Cuillin . It is possible to have a quiet stroll or a big adventure without even taking the car. However Elgol is a five minute drive away with its famous boat trips to Loch Coruisk. Stunning views of the Cuillin can be seen along with walks to Prince Charlie's cave and amazing honeycomb cliffs near the pier. Glasnakille is home of spar cave, a 50metre long cave which can only be accessed at low tide. It has a fascinating flowstone staircase contained within it. Our nearest supermarket is 15 miles away. The co operative supermarket in Broadford is open till ten pm. This is also where you will find a 24 hour petrol station. However our area is remote and peaceful and there are no shops or restaurants or pubs within walking distance. We believe this just adds to its charm however. Bookings can be made for evening meals at Coruisk house in Elgol but these need to be made well in advance.
  • James is an amazing host, so friendly and hospitable. Location is beautiful and the bothy is stunning. 5 star🌟

    Charlotte2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • The bothy is a beautiful, quaint and cosy space situated in a remote yet accessible location. The surrounding scenery and trails are breathtaking and the wood burning stove and hot tub made this an unforgettable stay. James was quick to respond to any questions and was extremely friendly and inviting. Highly recommended.

  • Great place to stay! Lovely views and plenty of local walks near, very peaceful and relaxing. Was good to have the log burner with the cold weather would definately go back.

  • The bothy is in a lovely remote part of Skye. Very cosy. James really went out of his way to make sure I had everything I needed. 😊 thanks!

    Lisa2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • A fantastic, secluded place to stay in an out of the way place with lovely scenery. Log burner was lovely after being out in the rain all day! James was a great host and very friendly, his directions were easy to follow and we found it with no problem. Go well prepared and stock up with food, nearest shops are 30 mins away in winter months! Would recommend for a restful, away from it all, few days.

    Jane2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • James's place was wonderful. We wanted peace and quiet and that was exactly what we got. We arrived in the dark so didn't see much of the view from the drive down. But the following day was a real treat! The directions to the Bothy were clear and precise and we found it in the dark with very little trouble. Logs and kindling were plentiful, so each evening we had a fire and heated up the hot tub twice. The shower and toilet were very clean and only a short walk away from the Bothy. A great place to stay, fantastic location and well worth the drive from the village.

  • Zoe’s place is the perfect stop over in Edinburgh. Within easy reach of all that Edinburgh has to offer and furnished to a very high level. Zoe’s attention to detail is exemplary with lots of fantastic touches throughout the apartment. There was literally nothing to fault.

  • Zoe and Stephen are great hosts. They allow you to relax and enjoy your stay without bombarding you with loads of really particular rules while at their place. Also, their communication is great, they respond quickly and are readily available should you need anything. As for the place itself, it sits in a quiet part of the city, though plenty of independent restaurants as well as a supermarket are just a stones throw away.

The Bothy is a self-contained wooden cabin on the edge of our own woodland at West Cottage and Stables, nestling in the heart of Glen Lyon and at the beginning of many excellent walks and cycle rides. There's a double bed, extra bed, luxury bathroom, and wood burning stove. Most guests choose self-catering (there's a hob, fridge, and everything you need to cook with) at our base price. We can provide breakfast (£7.50 per person) and/or a dinner (£20 per person) if you'd prefer.
It's a cosy single-room cabin set up for self catering with small loft space, and a luxurious shower room and toilet. There's a wood-burning stove for heat and a small kitchen area. The floor is stone and the walls are wooden. There is a bed and a comfortable sofa bed for children or if you'd prefer a twin setup too.
We are pretty much in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by mountains. You will see red squirrels, deer, many birds, hedgehogs. A stream runs down the side of the property and if it's hot you can have a dip. Have a look at PH15 2PL on G. Earth and you'll see what we mean. From the Bothy you have the woods on one side, a view up the Glen to the east on the other. Come in Spring and enjoy the bluebells and baby birds. Or summer, for swimming in the Invervar Burn and the drone of bees. Or Autumn, for wild mushrooms and the colours of the trees all down the Glen. Or winter, for snowy walks and cosy fires and perhaps a wee dram...
  • We had a great stay isolated from the world! There are a lot of steps and things to see in the area I recommend!

    Sara2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our stay at the cabin. The log fired stove kept the cabin cosy, the bed and sofa were comfortable, the location was perfect. If you want a full body workout let Milly lead you on a walk up the munro as she will have you bending and throwing sticks the whole way up! The cabin has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Take plenty of books, games, sewing etc and enjoy a more relaxed pace of life.

  • Great place and location. Would definitely recommend

    John2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely charming little cabin getaway! Exactly what my partner and I wanted. This Bothy is in a stunning location with lots of walking straight out the door. The space was cosy and comfortable, and has everything you need to cook! We didn’t even use the stove.. opting to cook on the wood stove top instead! Wished we had stayed longer!

    Annabel2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • We have just had a fantastic stay in the Bothey. The place is set with mountains either side which make for amazing views. We took a walk straight to the back of the woods on the property. From there we ended up a couple of mountains with unbelievable views down the Glen. The Bothey itself is small but very cosy. The wood burner soon gets the place very warm. I would definitely come stay again. Tim and Judy are as relaxed hosts as you can get and made us fee very welcome from the moment we arrived. So if you're looking for a remote hidden gem, this is the place.

    Sam2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • The Bothy was exactly what we expected, cosy, clean and away from all modern technology. Would recommend Tim and Judy as hosts - Brilliant, will definitely stay again.

  • Great little bothy in an amazing location. Tim was really helpful and quick to reply when we were having issues getting there due to a storm. He had the fire going on arrival so it was lovely and warm and he also gave us some freshly baked bread. It was snowing when we were there which made it even more picturesque. It's quite isolated which was perfect for us but make sure you arrived stocked up for a few days!

    Abigail2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is a wonderful place to stay! The location is perfect, lovely and peaceful. Tim and Judy we’re fantastic hosts - even presenting us with some freshly baked bread on arrival. The cabin is fare enough from the house to feel private, and has wonderful views of the surrounding hills. Lovely and clean, and had everything we needed for our stay. Would definitely recommend staying here!

Nestled in the Cairngorms National Park, The Steading (Scottish for converted Barn) was recently converted to a high standard. It provides a spacious, light and cosy cottage base with which to explore the local area. Extremely warm, with fabulous fire in the lounge and sky lights in all the rooms. The cottage provides easy access to mountain biking, Hill walking and climbing. The views of the National Park are stunning and the local countryside is home to many moorland birds and wildlife.
  • A beautiful cottage in the most incredible setting. We were lucky enough to have snow throughout our stay. The cottage has every amenity you can think of, even some cooking oil, salt and pepper. It really was a lovely cosy stay for a winter getaway

  • Zoe is a wonderful host. The apartment is in a great location for exploring Leith, and is very tastefully decorated. It has all the amenities necessary for a great stay, including toiletries and some basis food supplies. She even left us fresh milk and chocolates! It is in a very quiet area but close to bars, restaurants, Sainsbury’s and bus stops. I would definitely recommend Zoe’s place in Leith and hope to stay there next time I’m in Edinburgh.

  • Staying in the Scriptorium is absolutely magical! My mum and I loved it so much and are already planning to make another trip back. The architecture of the abbey is stunning and it had everything we needed to feel at home. Well stocked kitchen and comfy bed too. Easy stroll to the local pubs, chip shop, and grocer.

  • The apartment was beautiful in a fantastic building with great facilities. Andrea's is a great host and was very attentive.

    Dan2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • We came for a long weekend in January and were not disappointed! The Scriptorium was chic and comfortably furnished. We loved all the original features. The apartment was just a little skip away from the pool in the chapel. The pool was lovely and warm, quiet and super clean. Lovely view from in the pool too. The grounds and surroundings alone were stunning, so we took a Loch Ness cruise while the weather was good to take it all in, which we picked up from just outside the grounds. We had great communication and a really helpful welcome and tour. There was info on the history of the abbey and ideas of what to do locally in the apartment. Would highly recommend a stay at the Scriptorium without hesitation and would love to go again!

  • Staying at this Airbnb is a once in a lifetime experience. A former Abbey on the shores of Loch Ness, this Airbnb has every modern amenity. Hospitable staff greet you and give you a tour of the building and amenities upon your arrival. The Airbnb is magical and you can tell every piece of decor was chosen with care by Andreas. Location is great for taking a boat cruise of Loch Ness and exploring Ft. Augustus. Having a restaurant on property was a delightful bonus! Highly recommend if you want an Airbnb that is a vacation highlight!

  • The Glass House is spectacular! It’s a cosy, beautiful space. The location is pretty epic and quite secluded. It is a little off the beaten track - that’s why we chose it. Some of the local roads in winter aren’t the best. We visited at the end of February in a small car, after three consecutive storms but we did find a route there that was easy enough. It’s well worth fully reading Julia’s directions to figure the best route for you to take. The underfloor heating keeps the place cosy even without the log burner. There are great local walks. Plenty of things to keep you busy in Allendale (1.5hr walk) and Hadrians Wall is just a short drive away. Julia is great, her farm is lovely - fully recommend and would happily visit again!

    Nick2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Great location. First time away with our dog who also had a good time. Lots of good walks, short car journey to Allendale where pubs serve good food and even better pints.

    Lewis2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely funky little place, beautiful scenery, was a shame we had rain! There are chickens roaming about outside of the house and sheep in the fields nearby. Julia and her husband were so friendly and welcoming and have local recommendations. The place is very cosy with a huge log fire, we had a lovely time ☺️

    Rebecca2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • The Glass House is a stunning space I a stunning landscape. Perfect escape to the country with our black lab who loved the countless walks from the front door. Highly recommend and hope to be back one day!

    Laura2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • We went away for a couple of nights and it was great. A cute little barn with everything we needed. And very very cosy. Enjoyed the fact that there was no WiFi and poor signal, made us appreciate the time together more and the lush views rather than being distracted. Very muddy in the wet as you'd expect but didn't let it put us off. Some lovely walks to be had.

    Aaron2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing space! Beautifully furnished and heated floor was lovely on a cold, wet evening.

    Liam2020-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at the Glass House! We did a bit of Isaac Tea Trail walk and it was just beautiful. Would love to stay again. Thank you!

    Alanna2020-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • Had the most amazing stay. So tranquil and secluded. The house is so impressive, spotlessly clean and comfortable. Anything you need - it’s there. We used the log burner and the underfloor heating made it so warm and cosy on a windy, winters night. The whole place is just really special. 10 minutes in the car to nice little pubs and great food at the golden lion in Allendale. Julia is so quick to respond and leaves you to your own devices but you know she’s around should you need anything. A really unique place and beautiful surroundings. Can imagine it’s gorgeous in summer with the BBQ and lovely little garden. Thank you Julia!!!

A cosy, small, traditional stone cottage on the Isle of Lismore, in one of the most picturesque places of the west coast. It sits right in the bay at the end of the Great Glen and is surrounded by stunning mountain views. Please note: Lismore is an island that can only be reached by either of two ferry services. After your booking we'll send you an extensive welcome pdf with all the information you need about how to get here and how plan your stay.
If you're looking for a place to break away from it all, experience true peacefulness and inhale fresh sea air while green hills and beautiful mountains stretch endlessly before you, the Crofting Cottage on the Isle of Lismore is the place to for you. In our renovated historical stone cottage you get a real sense of what it means to live on an island while still enjoying all the comforts of modern life. Put on your wellies and go for a walk along the seashore, explore the small islands in the bay at low tide and return to a warm turf-roofed cottage and a cosy fire. Go for a cycle to discover the historical sites of the island and stop for some cake and coffee at our local café, get to know the welcoming island community and finish the day with a stew of delicious local lamb and a book from our varied collection, while admiring an unpolluted starry night through the skylights. The Crofting Cottage is a simple, open-plan space accommodation that is lovingly prepared for you, so you can feel right at home. It's got a mezzanine sleeping platform, a modern shower room, and a lovely kitchen corner with a handy cooker and double oven for all cooking enthusiasts. As an original island house it does not boast with space, but with cosiness, and the efficient and undemanding multi-fuel stove quickly heats every corner of it. It's not trying to provide a luxury holiday, but letting you re-connect with the simple pleasures of life, the sound of the seagulls for breakfast, the beauty of pure silence, the passing shadows on the mountains while the clouds are travelling over them, the ever-changing light and colours of a Hebridean landscape. Exchanging hurried subway connections for a leisurely ferry crossing, a mad weekend shopping for a browse through our small local shop, and the fight with software compatibilities for a fight with the wind, which, even if you lose it, somehow is so much more satisfying. It usually takes a day or two to allow yourself a much slower pace of daily life, but beware, once you've adjusted to island time and haven't let the presence of the wi-fi take away from it, you might find you could rather get used to it! The cottage is also perfect for an autumn and winter getaway, being a small space to heat, providing a comfortable reading sofa and lots of warm things for extra cosiness, including a down feather duvet. And though the days are short, the light is really at its most beautiful in the darker days of the year!
Lismore is a stunning island, with lots to see and do if you appreciate a quieter pace of life. We have a Heritage Centre with an island café (around 4 miles away) open 11 - 4 pm every day from April (check out varying winter opening times), and lots of historical buildings and monuments. It's ideal for walking and cycling, and if you would like to see as much as possible in one day and hear a few local stories, why not book an Explore Lismore landrover tour? You'll find everyone on the island very helpful, so if you get lost or have questions, don't hesitate to ask the first person to come your way! Lismore is a busy island and there's always something on, check the noticeboard at the local shop or the community website (www.isleoflismore.com) for upcoming events.
  • Thanks so much for having us. I’m still sad to not be there. Felt very much at home! A very comfortable 9 days. Great shower too! Will definitely be back.

    Denise2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • The Croft is amazing and is in an amazing location! Lismore is the hottest holiday destination of the decade👍

    Caspar2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • This is a truly lovely cottage. It's ideal for one person or a couple looking for a calm and cosy retreat to enjoy this amazing part of the world. We had very wintery weather so really enjoyed staying in lots! The fire was great and kept us cosy all week. The kitchen is brilliant and had everything we needed for cooking nice dinners. The bed platform is small and slightly tricky, but if you move the bed a little away from the wall you can sleep two people fine, listening to the rain on the roof is very cosy. The bathroom and shower is great, really hot water! There's lots of nice warm welcoming touches like slippers, hot water bottles, blankets etc. Plus a great selection of books and good WiFi. One tip I'd like to give future visitors - the local shops on Lismore and over on Appin (10min ferry from Lismore) are really great and stock everything you might need from all your normal groceries to plant based milks to nice wines, newspapers, etc. We stocked up in Oban before our trip so didn't use the local shops much but it seemed a shame when we realised how well stocked they are - buying from them is a great way to support the local economy while you're on holiday. Thanks Julia!

The Studio is a contemporary eco building, cosy whatever the weather, with a wood burning stove. It has been designed by award winning architects Rural Design. The Studio is close to The Cuillin mountains, Talisker Distillery, Loch Bracadale. You can walk out from the studio directly into the landscape to the beach, sea cliffs and beautiful birch woods. The inside is thoughtfully and beautifully designed. A great space for couples and solo adventurers. We offer wifi internet connection.
The Studio is a contemporary architect designed space. It is cosy and warm whatever the weather. It has very low energy requirements and water consumption, using a Swedish waterless loo. Relax in a secluded private spot. Read by the wood burning stove with a cup of coffee, or walk directly out into the beautiful landscape around Loch Bracadale.
Loch Bracadale is a beautiful sea Loch with beaches and cliff walks. Sea Eagles nest not far along the cliffs. Gannets are often flying and diving for fish in the summer months.
  • If you looking for some ‘Hygge’ then the studio is the place, the perfect setting to watch the west coast weather pass by all whilst toasty warm by a wood burner! A great base for exploring Skye, had everything we needed. Nick was quick to respond and provided plenty of useful local recommendations. (The waterless loo got a little getting used to but was surprised by how well it worked.)

    Kiloran2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely modern studio with breathtaking views! Perfect get away from city life. Had everything we needed and the host was very friendly and helpful. Sad we had to leave and couldn't stay forever!

    Henry2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • The Studio is a compact but perfectly put together modern space. It’s comfortable and practical...it wastes nothing. The windows give the most gorgeous views...on a clear night the moon and stars are beautiful, and during the day the view to the loch is amazing. The decor and design (everything from the blankets to the crockery to the way the bathroom works) really standout, and in the same way that trying to photograph Skye just doesn’t really do it justice, the Studio is so much better than the Airbnb listing shows. Whether you use this place as an amazing base for exploring the island, or snuggle up on the sofa in front of the wood burner this is a lovely warm space that will stay with you long after you’ve visited.

    Liam2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a really great time at the studio. The studio itself is really cosy, and the view is stunning. Nicholas was really reactive and gave us good tips about Skye island. Was a really nice stay!

    Zoé2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • The studio is beautiful just like the surroundings. The fire makes the studio very cosy. Carbost is a nice village with the distillery, Paul’s Oyster Shed, coffee to go and the Old Inn. Good location to see many high lights of Skye. Don’t miss out on Jann’s Cakes in Dunvegan if you like sweets as much as I do. Nick is very friendly to. A place to recommend!

    Michelle2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Nicholas and Kate’s Studio is a beautiful, comfortable, and cosy place from which to experience the Isle of Skye. It had all the necessary amenities to cater for oneself and plenty of space in which to relax. Even going during what turned out to be a storm, we had an amazing time, cosied up inside, reading and drinking wine. It is also worth noting that the bed is very comfortable. We slept excellently despite the high winds and rain. Nicholas and Kate are fantastic hosts. They are quick to respond to messages and queries, attentive upon arrival, and extremely friendly and helpful. They provided us with all the information we would need to make the most of the Studio and Skye itself, including concise directions on finding the address, as it is situated in a very quiet area.

    Eleanor2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic stay in the studio. Easy to get to and great communication from Nick. The studio was stylish and cosy. Perfect surroundings, we were able to star gaze at night and explore Skye and it’s spectacular scenery in the day. Perfect location for a couple wanting to have some peaceful time away together. Will definitely go back!

    Roísín&Ross2020-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect Airbnb experience from start to finish! This perfectly formed little studio kept us toasty and warm from the battering winds outside. It's a lovely, relaxing place that is very well thought out. The open space with the woodburner and the big double door feels open, but very private, with an excellent view of the wild land/seascape beyond. The kitchen and dining area has everything you need and we had a very nice steak dinner with oven roast vegetables etc without a fuss. A small kitchen is easier to tidy up! The bathroom with composting toilet and walk in shower was spotless and the heated towel rail works quickly. (If you haven't used a compositing toilet before, it doesn't smell at all and it's eco friendly. It has clever fans that extract any smells! No risk of being woken by a flush in the middle of the night!) The bedroom is lovely and cosy. A window by the bedside allows cool air in and the space can be completely blacked out for a great sleep. The Harris Tweed curtains keep the bedroom cool if the living area is toasty. We didn't get to explore the surrounding area but we know it well, loads of great things to do and see. If you're a couple looking for a perfect hideout/ place to relax, whether you've spent the day playing Scrabble or climbing munros, don't hesitate and book if you can!

Tea, coffee and sugar are provided. There is a shower room, an ottoman double bed and a sofa bed for an extra guest. There is an oil filled heater, table and chairs, TV for watching DVD's (there is no signal for local or national channels) and wifi is available

Heaste is a little hidden gem situated on the shores of Loch Eishort, 5 miles along a single track road from Broadford. There are several working crofts and creel fishing boats working from the loch. Heaste continues many of the older traditions of Skye such as peat cutting. There is a sea eagle nesting in the trees across the loch. There are walks to Boreraig (a highland clearance village). There are stunning views over to the Sleat peninsula and knoydart.
  • Nicky was outstanding and so was her bothy. She was more than accommodating gave us recommendations where to eat every night and even turned the heater on before our arrival. The bothy itself was perfection and the best stay we had our entire trip.

  • The Skye Bothy was amazing. It had all the amenities you could want, was lovely and warm, even in February with amazing views. Kirsty was wonderful and extremely helpful and accommodating. Thank you so much for a beautiful stay, Bec and Josh x

  • The little bothy is a lovely, unique place to stay. It's beautiful and Nicky's hospitality was the best part - she was always reachable via text for any questions (and she was nice enough to welcome us with a bottle of Prosecco and call restaurants both evenings we were there so we knew where we could go and eat - both places were SO yummy as well). Visiting in February was not the best month (we had Storm Dennis raging around us and the weather was mostly terrible), but we were snug in the bothy, even if the heating was a little weird to regulate (even though Nicky clearly showed us how to use it, we kept over/under heating the place - our fault though!). Visiting when it's mostly good weather would definitely be divine - the long-ish drive from the main road in Broadford to the bothy was a little scary at times when there was heavy fog, but all OK if you drive slowly and carefully. It's amazing how thoughtfully Nicky has laid out the place - it's tiny, but has so many amenities and even some little games (which we took advantage of) and a kitchen. Highly recommended.

  • Fantastic little spot on the isle of skye. Everything about the cabin is perfect!Lovely, warm and with fantastic views!

  • A perfect little getaway for yourself and another! Gorgeous views and a tasteful little bothy that'll keep you warm from the cold that Scotland can bring. Highly recommend to anyone that wants to see more of what Skye has to offer. Nicky is also a wonderful host.

If your looking for something a little different then the stable wing of The Bridge House may be just for you! My unusual holiday home is part of the unique Bridge House built over the River Ardle in k1881. It has recently been renovated to a warm and cosy standard! Charming original features including stone spiral stairs, traditional Scottish timber clad walls, brick and pine flooring. All mod cons including wifi & smart TV. Quiet, peaceful and rural location. Pretty views.
The adventure begins as you enter the front door with a winding stone spiral staircase on your left and kitchen on the right. My large kitchen salon has original brick flooring with timber and stone walls. The kitchen is fully fitted and has everything you need. There is a cosy wood fired oven that is not only pretty but practical too. I love breakfast here looking at the river and bridge, especially in the morning sun. There is also a large comfortable sofa and smart TV. The spiral staircase leads up to the bedrooms and bathroom. The master bedroom is large and bright with views of the river on one side and beautiful Strathardle on the other. King size double bed and smart TV. There is a small second bedroom with a cosy double bed (tight for two). There is freeview TV, ornamental fireplace and traditional gas lamp lighting! I hope you'll sleep as well as I do with the peaceful sound of the river and comfortable beds... The bathroom has a choice of shower or bath. If you're lucky with the weather you can enjoy the garden and river. Pets welcome in the house but strictly not in bedrooms or sofa in any circumstances and in case dog hair found in bedroom or sofa a deep clean will be requested at a and cost that will deducted from deposit.
Peaceful and rural. Great walking. Traditional pubs in Bridge of Cally and Kirkmichael. Braemar, Pitlochry, Dunkeld and Perth within an hours drive.
  • This place is unique and exceptionally beautiful. It is ideal for a peaceful and romantic getaway. The location is quite isolated and internet is slow, which is a good point in my opinion, but not for everyone. The property is furnished with quality and has lots of necessary items to make it home from home, such as your kitchen cupboard staples. We loved our stay and intend to visit again.

Restored attractive 2 storey c1900 cottage in the beautiful grounds of Historic Scotland listed Bendameer House. Tastefully decorated, well equipped, comfy beds and quality linen. Use of hot tub with amazing views across Firth of Forth to Edinburgh.
Comfortable, open and flexible space. Lots of outdoor space - huge garden with swings, hot tub, vegetables, hens etc. Decoration - whites with muted blues and beige. Comfortable and cosy with all familiar home comforts. Down-filled duvets, pillows and cushions (allergy sufferers please request alternative). Fire pit, barbecue and outdoor seating- logs provided. Please note that the bathroom is on the ground floor.
Easter Bendameer has stunning views, wonderful light and the sunshine is warm. (Yes, it IS warmer here, for some reason!). There is always shipping or sailing to watch on the water. The small hamlet of houses at Ninelums (also the name of the bus stop!) is approximately half way between Aberdour and Burntisland. The very local history is interesting with limestone mines and quarries being a source of employment and wealth in the past. There is still evidence of the tramway to the harbour which passed behind the cottage. Bendameer House itself was owned by the Ministry of Defence for approx 100 years and in the past hosted grand house and garden parties. After 6 years of use as a boarding house for a school, it has been slowly restored by the Stevens family since 2002. There are historic castles and churches in Aberdour and Burntisland. There are great walks to the Aberdour beaches, art galleries and super gift shops. Special mention goes to The Aberdour Bakery, McTaggarts Cafe and the wonderful deli and post office "Post and Pantry," all in Aberdour. For fish and chips, other takeaway food, a reasonable co-op and a super indoor swimming and wave pool with flumes, Burntisland is excellent.
  • This place is so worth the money. Isolated, picturesque, and calm- perfect for those that need a bit of a getaway to either reconnect with themselves or others. It made our holiday that extra bit special, I would highly recommend to come here, I'd love to some back in summer myself!

    Joti2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cottage, with great views. In a lovely location, with a short walk along the coast to a nice sandy beach. I would definitely recommend this cottage.

    Laura2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Such a beautiful cottage with everything you need! The fife costal route is bang on the door step. The walk to the station on this route is only 20-30 mins. The train into Edinburgh was regular, £6 return and only 30 mins. The only trouble we had was getting back from the train station after a late dinner so make sure you pre book a taxi! Lovely get away from the city!

  • Incredible place with stunning views. Ali was a perfect host and we enjoyed every minute. Couldn’t recommend enough. Ali even put up banners and got balloons for a surprise for my boyfriend. Thank you Ali x

  • This cottage is situated in the most beautiful location facing the sea. The inside is equally amazing with great decor all round. And it’s very clean. It’s a sizeable family home which was perfect for myself, my wife and little one. Good sized bedrooms. Ali is a great host above all. She was very welcoming and willing to meet our requests in advance of our stay. She gave us very detailed information on how to get to the home. We used a combination of Google Maps and the instructions she gave us and we had no problem whatsoever finding it.

  • Lovely cottage and country stay - very cosy and everything you need for a comfortable stay. Beautiful part of the world.

  • We loved our stay at Rowanside. It is a cosy cottage with a nice living room and two bedrooms. The WiFi is great and there was satellite TV. The fire was amazing for keeping warm at night. We used the entire basket of logs left for us over two nights. Highly recommended.

  • Ben’s house is the perfect place to get away from it all, chill out and explore the beautiful countryside, which is literally accessible from the doorstep. The house is warm and inviting, and the real fire is a particular treat, especially after a long walk. Ben was excellent at keeping in touch and supplying lots of useful information. I highly recommend Ben and his charming house!

    Jennifer2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful little cottage in a lovely area - enjoyed our 2 nights stay and would definitely book again if we were coming back. Cosy place, enjoyed lots of nice walks and a blustery visit to the picturesque St Abb's lighthouse! Ben was very quick to respond to messages and was very helpful to sort out picking up my forgotten bath bag! Thank you for a lovely stay :)

    Xenoula2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely, cosy and comfortable cottage with lots of character indeed. Communication with Ben great. Checkin no problem. Everything perfectly in order and super toasty when we arrived. Had a great stay. 10 out of 10.

    Ann Louise2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • We rented Ben's Place for a few days in January and weren't disappointed. Finding it was quite straightforward although, as Ben says, it is in a very small hamlet so make sure you have been shopping beforehand. I thought I might be cold at night but a wealth of little extras ensured I wasn't - hot water bottles, log burner and plenty of blankets. The double bed was one of the comfiest I'd slept in. Location is quite beautiful with a babbling stream to the front and lots of birds in the bushes behind. Didn't miss not having phone reception. If you drive to Edinburgh you have to travel across the Lammermuir Hills which are breathtaking by day but not for faint-hearted drivers, particularly at night!

    Samantha2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • Ben’s cottage is one of those Airbnb’s that make you feel so lucky to have stayed in as a guest. The space itself coupled with the area was really incredible. We had a fantastic time in Longformacus, there’s so much to do nearby either driving or walking. We found plenty of walks around nearby for the dog. Check in was simple, the property was impressively clean and warm when we arrived. The kitchen has everything you could need, we loved the space upstairs and the views of plants and birds from the windows. As other guests have mentioned, crumpets, butter and jam are left which is a really thoughtful touch, as well as hot water bottles, blankets and board games.

  • River Cottage is like a dream, overlooking the river at the back. It’s wonderful to fall asleep to the sounds of the river, such bliss. I only wish I’d had the chance to enjoy the decking, but it was a tad chilly and wet in March. The cottage is the perfect size for a solo traveller or a couple, lovely and cosy. The kitchen is well kitted out (also has salt, oil, all the basics!) and the cottage is within arms reach of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs. It was a perfect base for me and I absolutely intend to return. Vicki is a wonderful host, she popped over when I needed a hand with something and was so welcoming. Her directions are spot on, so make sure you read them beforehand. I used google street view to scope out the markers she mentioned and it couldn’t have been easier to find!

  • Follow the directions and you’ll have nonissue finding the place, a small cost cottage with everything you’ll need. The stream alongside the cottage is great for sleeping and loads of open space for our dog to run about. Locally there are so many things to do, we drove round loch lomond, walked ben lawers and so much more. We loved being what seemed ‘off grid’ yet so local to glasgow. The night sky was great for star gazing and the day time views are breathtaking

    John2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely space. Friendly host. Great stay

    Graeme2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely, cosy little cottage set in a remote location. Loch Lomond is just a short drive away. It’s tucked away, but Vicki’s directions were really clear so we had no trouble finding it from the village. We didn’t get the chance to meet Vicki during our 3 night stay. The cottage itself was spotlessly clean with good amenities. We appreciated all the extra blankets as our first day in Scotland was freezing! The bed was super comfy and the hot water bottles were a nice touch. Our dog loved the cottage and settled in quickly, and the big field outside was handy for walking him. At bedtime, we loved listening to the river and a nearby owl. The only downside was that the TV wouldn’t work; we did reach out to the host for help on the first day (we tried calling first then by text on the numbers provided) as we’d noticed a previous reviewer had recently been helped with a similar issue, but ours was never resolved or followed-up on during our stay. The text response we got felt a little dismissive, so we decided not to push it again. We didn’t come away to watch television, but it would’ve been nice to curl up at night after exploring the area. Luckily we had card games and conversation! Overall, this is a nice cottage set in a lovely part of Scotland that I would recommend especially to couples with a dog or two.

  • Beth’s Bothy is a fantastic snug which has been very well designed to maximise the space. It has everything you would need for a relaxing few days away including cooking facilities, TV, wifi and an amazing hot tub. There are lots of walks nearby and some lovely restaurants and pubs in Gatehouse of Fleet which is about a 15 - 20 minute walk away through the woods or on the main road. The snug was very clean and the hot tub is checked daily by the host and drained and refilled after each visit. We enjoyed sitting in the hot tub each night and looking up to the stars which were crystal clear. Even in the low February temperatures, the hot tub stayed consistently warm and lovely. The host also left some home baked scones and fresh flowers for our arrival which was a great touch and very much appreciated. All in all, this is a great place to stay and we highly recommend it!
