Places to stay in Saint Ansgar
Comfortable queen bed with futon/sofa, in room bath with shower, Blu-ray, free Wi-Fi, bay window with garden view, wood floors, oriental rug, air cond unit in room, access to kitchenette. In small, quaint town with shopping, good food, maple trees. We have several other rooms listed if you are looking for group accomodations or space for a large family.
Please note that if both beds are used, the price will be $20 extra even if there are only two guests. The full sized bed is a futon with an 8 inch thick memory foam mattress. We have beautiful gardens, balconies and porches, Victorian era stained and leaded glass, maple pocket doors, wood floors, oriental rugs, artwork, and creative decorating. Please note: We do not include use of our whirlpool at the reduced Airbnb rate. A fondue feast and delicious homemade lunches and dinners are available on request for an additional cost. My husband is a pastor, so our Sunday schedules are complicated. If you stay on a Saturday night into Sunday, it is probable that we will leave you a breakfast tray in our 3rd floor kitchenette that you can heat and enjoy at your leisure. The breakfast is the same, and we appreciate your understanding.
Our neighbors are friendly and welcoming, our houses and yards tidy and well-kept, and we have several beautiful antique, country, bridal and Victorian shops - even a spa. It's a great place to walk or bicycle. We're a small town with all the necessary comforts.
  • A darling Victorian inn, it was a true pleasure to stay here. Sherrie was communicative and patient as our arrival time got extensively delayed. We loved it here!

  • Awesome historic Inn, uniquely appointed, in a serene setting. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay

  • We had such a wonderful, clean and comfortable room and our hosts were especially kind. I unexpectedly fell ill on our trip through Iowa, back to New Jersey and was unable to make it down for breakfast. They wrapped up the scrumptious breakfast so that I was able to take it with me and that really touched me. I would not hesitate to stay there again and I would recommend this bed-and-breakfast to anyone who wants a beautifully decorated, clean, spacious, comfortable BnB to stay at.

    Suzanne2019-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • Sherrie was an outstanding host. She turned an old Victorian house into a stunning Airbnb and bed and breakfast. Deb made us a great breakfast in the morning. Sherrie was so interesting to talk to! She is an author and play-write. We loved the unique and thoughtful touches Sherrie put into the home and the room. Every room has a unique name and theme. Would definitely recommend this Airbnb to anyone. The price is great AND you get a free and delicious breakfast. Thank you Sherrie!!!!!

  • Excellent breakfast!

  • My daughter and I loved our stay and the b&b! Great night sleep, great breakfast in the morning. We loved the experience of the small quiet town. Be sure to visit the antique store too!

  • We loved staying a the Blue Belle Inn! The town is small and quaint. The home is lovely that has thoughtful decor. Our beds were very comfortable. I enjoyed my morning coffee on the porch while taking in the fresh spring morning. Sherri had accommodated our last minute request even though they had a wedding to attend. The breakfast is always amazingly delicious...quiche, scones and fresh fruit. We look forward to our next visit.

  • We had a great stay at Sherries Victorian home, Loved the porches! Very clean and had alot of extras, appreciated the mini kitchen. Sherrie was warm and friendly and is very talented. The home and grounds are well kept. Wish we could have stayed longer! Mike and Jan

  • This B and B is very accommodating. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner for a small fee. They do have alot of eclectic decore but it definitely is a great weekend or work retreat. The only thing I would say is if you like to watch tv at night, there is a very small selection of channels but they have a great internet connection!

    Jessica2019-06-22T00:00:00Z
  • My husband needed a place to stay ASAP and he had stayed at Sherrie’s before. It was 8pm and she had a room available and responded quickly!

  • This place was charming. Very nice pool, bathrooms were so clean, beautiful river running next to it. The host and hostess work day and night to keep it looking grand. Very up to date cabins and superb attention to details. A true camp in the woods and wonderful RV park.

The Kingsley House is a known entity in Austin. Built in 1926 by Judge Kingsley for his daughter, Cora, who lived here for many years, the walls of this home could tell many stories. Besides housing a prominent citizen in its early days, it was later the home of a popular local artist; it's been an antique store; and it has even been a residence for senior citizens. But now it is the sanctuary for my little family, our peaceful abode just a block from downtown.
This cozy 2nd floor bedroom features a double bed for two or for the lone traveler. Enjoy a view out the window of the lovely backyard and watch the fireflies buzz around at night. The sound of a neighborhood frog can be heard best in the summer from this room. Cozy up in the chair with a good book and then get ready to sleep like a baby! The shared bathroom is right outside the door. Note: there is a cat that lives in the home. She doesn’t have access to the second floor of the house and is therefore never in any bedrooms. She’s a sweet, adoring cat but we are sensitive to the fact that some guests may have allergies, so she is confined to the basement, living room, and kitchen.
This historic home in downtown Austin is within walking distance to restaurants, the Spam Museum, the Historic Hormel Home, YMCA/Community Rec Center, public library, shops, bike trails, the bandshell park, and is only a block from Main Street. We absolutely love living in close proximity to some of Austin's most treasured landmarks! https://www.facebook.com/groups/2104244626305477/
  • Brie has a beautiful home right off of downtown Austin. I was in town for a wedding and she was understanding that I might be in late due to wedding festivities. She also had a great little coffee bar for guests and a very friendly cat. We loved our stay.

    Morganne2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Brie and her place were a treat, an older home but nicely decorated. Parking and check in went smooth. Brie's living room, kitchen and dining areas are open to her guests. I felt very welcome and enjoyed my brief stay.

    Michael2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Great host, very responsive.

    Victor2019-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • Brie's house is far lovelier than the pictures show, and I can't imagine anyone feeling other than comfortable and at home here!

    Stephanie2019-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Brie’s home was very comfortable and a great location for Austin visitors or Route 90 travelers. Brie was very welcoming and clear with instructions. The house and room was ornately decorated with lots of cool amenities. One of the best AirBnBs I’ve stayed at.

    Mike2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Always a very comfortable stay, my third time in fact and will be my go to place in Austin!

    Nathaniel2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Would very much recommend.

    Justin2019-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely and interesting historical home, set up to very comfortably accommodate multiple guests. Beautiful woodwork, high ceilings, thoughtfully decorated with many classic and/or fun items. The host lives onsite and gave a very welcoming and homey feel to my stay. My bedroom was spacious and quiet, and my use of other parts of the house felt good, not intrusive. I’ll be back!

  • Great place & location

    Rachel2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This was by far my favorite Airbnb stay to date. Becky was a wonderful host and the apartment is an incredible space to hang out in for a few days. It almost feels like you could be in New York City or Chicago... The staff downstairs at the Teluwut bar and grill are incredible - be sure to stop in for a cold beer and a bite to eat and the staff will make you feel like you're home. Highly recommended!!!

    Ryan2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • The location was ideal. Above a resturant and bar, near other bars and a brewery and right next to a grocecy store.

    Alessandra2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • This place was bigger than we expected. Super cute and modern. Had all the necessities that we needed. It was just right for our family of four. The kids had their own spots to hang out.

  • The loft was great, excellent location and huge space. The check in process was pretty seamless and I loved being right in the center of town. Great for hosting family while in town.

  • Great long weekend. My wife and I stayed here with another couple for 3 nights. The goal was to get a way without having to travel far and this was perfect. Very laid back country feel with nice outdoor areas and fire pit. Cabin was very nice. Golfing not far away in Riceville or Osage. Charcoal grill and wrap around porch was awesome. Remember to bring bottled water as it is very hard well water. Also, the only bathroom is off the Kitchen area, we were with close friends so it was not a big deal to us. I highly recommend this place.

  • Heading out west and found this gem. I love old houses in old neighborhoods when they’re done right.

    Kevin2018-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • We (a group of students and myself) stayed in Anne's House of Dreams (the whole house). The students and myself "oohed" and "ahhed" at all of the beautiful decor, set-up, and overall 'cottage' experience that the home contained. Beds were clean, comfortable, and perfectly set-up and ready to go for when we arrived. We left early the next morning for a conference in Charles City and the innkeeper was kind enough to prepare a scrumptious breakfast plate for each one of us! I would recommend staying at one of Sherrie's accommodations anytime! Great hospitality and lovely home!

  • Great two bedroom apartment, in a quiet building. Has just about everything you need for a short term stay or long term stay. Much better than staying at one of the town’s hotels.

  • Great place.

    Wes2019-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • The pictures of this apartment simply do not do it justice. It's absolutely adorable - and exquisitely clean. The decorating is minimalistic but not anemic, stylish and cozy without being overtly so. There are TVs in every room, ceiling fans and alarm clocks in both bedrooms, the are plenty of towels, the shades are very light blocking and the beds are very comfy. It was so much better than any hotel room I've ever stayed it, hands down. When we booked, we didn't plan on using the second bedroom - we intended to keep our two-year-old in the room with us in a pack and play, but come the day of departure and we realized one of our sitters had it at her house, so the two bedrooms came in super handy with him co-sleeping for the first time ever. We didn't do much beyond sleeping here (got in very late both nights and headed out early both mornings) while we were here but there is a fully-equipped kitchen and dining table, a large tv in the living room and enough space to have some quiet time alone, should that be wanted. The neighborhood was nice, the other tenants were quiet - there are simply no negatives whatsoever with this stay and I would recommend it to anyone needing a place in this area.

    Carol2019-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • Scott is a thoughtful and quick-to-respond host. The place was very clean, and we had everything we needed. We even had some delicious cinnamon rolls from a local bakery/business (Kountry Kupboard, please check them out!!) waiting for us when we arrived. We couldn't have asked for a better Airbnb experience. Thank you, Scott!

  • Space! You have lots of space. Lots of light, even on cloudy days. A great place to reflect and recharge. Wonderful kitchen area. Internal balconies for dramatic speeches. A piece of history nicely renovated.

    Elizabeth2018-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • This old church is wonderful, and Sarah's hospitality matched the largesse of the space. If you are looking for a peaceful get away in the heartland this is the spot for it! The wind is the burr oaks was music to our ears and the fresh eggs Sarah provided us the best omelette we have made in years.

    Catherine2018-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • From the initial booking until check out this was a first rate place. Sarah was accommodating and quick to respond. Beautiful spacious place. The kitchen was well appointed down to coffee and filters. If you are looking to get away from it all, look no further. Dark and quiet at night as you would expect in the (almost) middle of nowhere. Not even a barking dog could be heard, just the rustling trees and a few buzzing insects.

    Donald2018-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • My 11yr old daughter and I stayed here for two nights while attending a family wedding reception nearby. Perfect place for us. A loft for her, fireflies at night, lightning off in the distance. Perfect.

  • Expect a quiet environment for total relaxation. Clean, well stocked, and charming.

    Richard2018-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • What a great place! If you are going to be in Osage and in need of a place to stay, you should definitely check it out. Very spacious, incredibly comfortable, and as peaceful as it gets. Sarah is a great host, and made everything very easy!

    Matthew2017-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • This is our second year visiting the church and already looking forward to the next time. Sarah and her mom, Jane, were very hospitable and accommodating to ensure our family had the perfect weekend. It is a great place to leave stress back home and just relax with the family, playing games, hiking, and exploring the town and different parks. We even lucked out that a meteor shower took place, and that is the perfect place with it's black skies, full of stars. There is no light pollution there, providing amazing night skies, especially when enjoying s'mores over a camp fire.

    Greg2017-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • I recently took a short trip back home and found this stay to be a very cozy, pleasant, and unique one. The hosts were fantastic and the church and grounds are very beautiful. I would highly recommend staying here if you are in the area!

  • Staying here was much better than expected! It was big and spacious and the temperature in the room was always cool but never cold. While the wifi was spotty at times, Karen was quick to respond and always fix it. The TV had Netflix available as well as YouTube TV! Neat! There was silverware, plates, bowls, pots and pans and the basic selection of spices. She was also very accommodating to our small dog! If we have the chance we'll definitely stay here again.

    Heather2019-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • The place is great, the host was quick with responses. The neighbors up stairs are respectful and kept the noise level at a minimum. Get used to no windows because this place literally has no windows. Everything that you need was there, a massive kitchen with plenty of counter space to cook, two restrooms, shower washer and dryer, and a queen size bed. There is a Casey’s general store a block away, if gas station food isn’t good then Mason City is only 9 miles away with plenty of options.

This second floor bedroom is a bright, cheery space that faces the front of the property. The room features a comfortable queen bed, closet, sitting chair, lots of plants, and lovely decor inspired by Van Gogh. Amenities include: coffee and tea station * TV with Netflix in the bedroom * Wi-Fi * Extra toiletries * Snacks provided * Fully stocked kitchen * Hundreds of fiction and non-fiction books Note: there is a cat that lives in the home.
  • Clean , quiet accommodations right downtown Austin. I will stay with her again when I am in town.

  • Brie's place was charming! She and her family were very welcoming. It is definitely worth the stay.

    Stephanie2019-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • Brie’s place is incredibly nice, clean and quiet. It is a shared bathroom with the family, so be aware of that, but very clean, and the family is very nice and respectful. I really liked staying here and talking to Brie. She gave us breakfast and coffee and snacks and the house is so nicely decorated. Also Brie was very accommodating of us getting there late after check-in hours. I would totally stay here again if coming through Minnesota!!

    Allegra2019-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Terrific location in the heart of downtown. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay again. Loved the cat with his gentle nudges and soft purrs.....room was very pleasant. We were only there a few hours but the price was very reasonable.

    Linda2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Brie has an amazing home with all the touches of the past! It has history and beautiful views!

    Ann2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • First time I have ever done an Airbnb. At first a little awkward feeling but boy did that change quickly. Loved meeting Brie and seriously felt at home. Will absolutely be back next year!!

    Molly2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Brie was very friendly and flexible about my arrival (my flight was delayed from the morning until the evening and I didn't arrive until nearly 9). She opened her home and made everything so easy and cozy.

Quiet town, apartment building across from Casey's gas station, post office, police/city hall/library, and next to fire station. 3 minutes to the avenue to the saints, 6 minutes to Mason City. This is an a upstairs, back, studio apartment with full kitchen, washer and dryer, TV, cable and wifi. The full bath is shared through a separate hallway with one other apartment. This is a nice find for windmill workers, and energy workers, it's convenient, close to many work and shopping locations.
  • This place was awesome , it was quiet , warm and better than a hotel room . Ps . It’s above a photography studio , so when you pull up to the Casey’s it’s across the street . look for photography studio and green front.

  • Perfect for a quick weekend trip in Austin MN. I spent most of my time spent with friends for a wedding, so I didn’t spend lots of time in the home, but it seemed lovely and cozy.

  • I was in Austin for work and this is exactly what I needed. It was close to work and comfortable. I didn't get a chance to really see the house outside my room due to my schedule but from what I did, it's a cute house. Brie was quick to respond to questions and friendly. I would recommend a stay here to anyone going to Austin.

This listing is for the Plum Creek room. We also have Sherwood Forest listed separately, and other rooms, including an accessible room, available by request. Plum Creek is a spacious, beautifully renovated Victorian era guest room on the 2nd floor of our B&B, in a quaint, small town. It has a king bed, high ceilings, turret alcove with curved windows & chaise lounge. TV/VCR, large whirlpool for 2, fireplace with gas log, porch, romantic dining, and air conditioning.
We have beautiful gardens, balconies and porches, Victorian era stained and leaded glass, maple pocket doors, wood floors, oriental rugs, artwork, and creative decorating. We serve a fondue feast and delicious homemade breakfasts, lunches and dinners.
Our neighbors are friendly and welcoming, our houses and yards tidy and well-kept, and we have several beautiful antique, country, bridal and Victorian shops - even a spa. It's a great place to walk or bicycle. We're a small town with all the necessary comforts.
  • This place is even better than advertised. You will want to come back just to enjoy this place.

  • The Blue Belle Inn Bed & Breakfast is an excellent option for travelers in Mitchell County, Iowa. The house is spacious and lovely and perfectly clean! Many of the rooms are spacious and quaintly decorated, adding to the enjoyment if you're looking for the B&B experience. Our room was very large, had a King size bed, a fireplace, and a very large whirlpool bath. Breakfast is provided via a 'breakfast plate' that is prepared the evening before and left for you in a refrigerator in a common area. So just know you're not going to get breakfast served by the host, but for us the breakfast plate was more than adequate.

    Candida2019-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for a little cabin/cottage in a pretty peaceful area, this is it! Lisa’s description is very accurate, especially note that the 2 levels are not connected-you must enter each area from outside. It was just me and my husband, we mainly used the upstairs but we did LOVE the lower area as well. We went in the fall, we loved the colorful trees, a walking/hiking trail is very close by-easy walk to trail! The damn is even closer-another must if you rent Lisa’s cabin. We loved the close-by restaurant- Old Country Seat. The “bigger” town close by-Osage was nice, we went to coffee shop & brewery, they also had some places to eat & grocery store, etc. It’s a beautiful drive to Osage-using the River Road. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay!

    Richelle2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa went out of her way to make sure we got what we needed out of her property at every turn. This was our first venture through AirBnB and she helped make sure we got everything we needed. Very nice place on the river. Extremely quiet and enjoyable stay. If I get back up in the area again for work I will most definitely be getting hold of lisa for another stay on the river

    Jeremy2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa's place on the river is rustic and quaint. We enjoyed the solitude and being able to have a fire outside in the evening. Lisa left us the fixings for a great breakfast. We hiked and did some fishing. Very relaxing.

    Patricia2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Super cute and had a beach house vibe. Lisa left us a cute note and breakfast makings as well, which was a nice personal touch. We had issues finding the pieces to hook the hammock up but it wasn’t a big deal. I am sure she would have responded had I messaged her and asked because she had great communication. The place was quiet and private we loved it. Especially loved playing on the Super Nintendo ♥️

    Brittany2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • We were very happy with our stay, there is plenty of stuff to do, from kayaking, to boating, bike rides, relaxing on the deck, and so much more. It was wonderful

  • Awesome location, and house was amazing!! I would recommend this place to anyone!
