Places to stay in Llanidloes

Places to stay in Llanidloes
Calm, relaxing and characterful home overlooking the river Severn, on a quiet street in the beautiful mid-Wales town of Llanidloes. We are in the process of slowly and lovingly refurbishing the house, so some cosmetic updating still needed. Families and pets are welcome to our little home from home.
As you can see from the photos, areas of the home are awaiting refurbishment and the listing price reflects this. I will update the photos as work is completed. We welcome families, children and pets. Please be aware the stairs are quite steep and narrow and we are happy to set up stair gates if you let us know in advance. There is also a small and lovely balcony overlooking the river that you are welcome to use, though small children should be supervised here. We request a small additional cleaning fee for pets. There is a flat screen TV & DVD player in the living room. We do not have Freeview or a TV streaming service, however there is an HDMI cable and a chrome cast if you wish to stream programs to your own tablet or device and watch on the screen. There is also a wide range of DVDs available. There are teas and coffees provided andwe are happy to arrange a small hamper of snacks, milk and breakfast items, just let us know any dietary requirements.
Llanidloes is a lovely small welsh town, with a friendly community. There are some lovely cafes - The Great Oak being one of the most popular, an art gallery and art shops, a local co-op, butchers, greengrocers, 2 childrens play areas and numerous lovely walks and woodland areas to explore. Llanidloes is a great base to explore mid-Wales and the borders, with beaches less than an hour away and many areas of outstanding natural beauty surrounding us.
  • Lovely hours, quiet, restful and comfortable.

  • A beautiful home in a beautiful location with lovely hosts. Very near to town for provisions. Near to wonderful woodland walks by the River Severn. Great vegetarian/vegan breakfast. Spotlessly clean house. Make sure you read the directions Susanne sends you rather than using Google.

  • Recommended very highly. Excellent value. Delicious and generous breakfast. Lovely location just out side of town. Susanne and Steve were particularly good with other help and recommendations we needed.

  • Susanne and Steve were very welcoming and couldn't have been more helpful whether it was drying our wet clothing, coats and boots or filling thermos flasks. The Bungalow is spotlessly clean, beds very comfortable and we had no complaints what-so-ever.

  • A very comfortable and quiet place to stay in the heart of Wales.

    Owen2019-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • One of the best places we've stayed in! Wonderful, clean, cosy room. Steve (Susanne was away) was an amazing host who made us feel at home. Breakfast was delicious with such a huge range of choice to accommodate our diet. The dog Penny is very sweet and loves a tummy rub! We were sad we weren't staying for longer.

  • The Whistling Badger is a great place to stay. Everyone who works there are very friendly and helpful. Comfy bed too, slept like a log.

  • Excellent value for money at short notice. Everything you might need for a short visit to Llanidloes, and conveniently located in the centre of town. As the listing says, the room is surprisingly quiet despite being attached to a busy pub. We didn't actually meet Francesca, but the staff were friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the pub wasn't doing food the night we stayed, but I can recommend Evan's Fish Bar for dinner and the Great Oak Cafe for fantastic vegetarian lunches. If you like real ale, the pub has a good selection of well-kept local beers.

This peaceful, quiet location is a great place for cycling, walking and motorbiking. Based in the Cambrian mountains our home is close to Plynlimon mountain where you will find the source of the river Severn and the river Wye. We are in rural Mid Wales surrounded in beautiful countryside with fantastic scenery, free from mobile phone signal.
Guests can enjoy breakfast of homemade bread and jams or cereals. Visitors are welcome to visit our market garden, 1.5 miles from the house, where we grow most our own organic food and supply local shops and veg boxes. You can join us for meals of home grown produce if you like (@£5 extra) Allergy suffers please note we do have two cats.
The house is in a rural setting. Quite remote, but in a small hamlet of eight semi-detached houses. Beautiful views to the front of the house, gardens and woodland to the back and sides. Our small room looks over our back garden and into the woods, whilst our larger room looks down the valley and across to the hillside view.
  • Emma and Dave are great hosts with a cozy home and two friendly cats to match. I was given details on loads of local hotspots and things to do. I travelled for work and as such I got wet and dirty, but this wasn't an issue as they had places to dry and store kit. Very kind and interesting people and excellent hosts. Couldn't recommend enough.

  • We had an absolutely fantastic time here. So much of that was due to how much thought had clearly gone into the camping experience, including a fantastic private bathroom (with nice warm shower), a comfy warm bed and a really well stocked kitchen area (including a special treat of bacon, sausage and eggs!)- we couldn’t have asked for anything more! The local area is also wonderful with plenty to do. Thank you to Jeanette for a fantastic holiday!

  • What can I say - this was a brilliant find on Airbnb and the pictures certainly don’t do it justice. If you are looking for a peaceful getaway, I would definitely recommend Jeanette’s space. We will be back again, hopefully with the doggies next time. PS if you love walking, this is definitely a great space to stay in - plenty of walking trails around.

  • Glamping bell tent in a field of your own in a beautiful area with a very decent private bathroom- for a very good price. There wasn't anything to not like. The area is stunning and if you like walking then I can't recommend it highly enough. Jeanette was the perfect host and made us feel very welcome. We can recommend a walk in Hafren forest and the pasties from the bakers in Llanidloes.

    Sarah2019-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely loved our stay, Jeanette has thought of everything and the set up is adorable. The views are fantastic and there's an endless amount of things to do nearby, we wish we stayed longer so we had more time to do more of them! The local market town is lovely and has some great pubs and we really enjoyed visiting devils falls, would definitely recommend it. Jeanette's place is amazing value for money and we look forward to staying again in the near future!

  • A wonderful place, beautifully decorated and well equipped. My wife kept commenting on how it reminded her of home (in a good way). Location is good, though not always possible to park just outside. Lisa was very responsive and keen to hear our feedback and make suggestions for things to do nearby. Nice little touches, like a bottle of wine and chocolates on arrival; Lisa also came to clean during our stay. The only thing that could have been better was the weather!

    Adam2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Fab property. Really clean, and a short walk into town and the gorgeous park by the river. Was like Narnia in the frost whilst walking the dog in the dark. A great base to explore the area, and many many pubs in Llani.

Property is extremely cosy, modern where it needs to be but very authentic and original. The kitchen had everything you'd need and the look of the property and views are simply spectacular. We are already booking our 2nd visit! Than you Ruth and see you soon! Ciarán

Alex and I had such a lovely stay. We loved the barn, we wish we too could live in it. Beautiful views and surroundings there is something magical about it, with its wooden beams and warm feel by the fire. I loved the fact you could only hear the sheep and the odd owl. It was so calming to get away from the rat race of work - so relaxing. And Ruth is so lovely ! Would highly recommend. The bed was super comfortable and the bedding was lovely and soft.

  • Mike and Rachael's place is absolutely lovely and they are very kind and welcoming. The place is really stylish, clean and very cosy. We absolutely loved the use of space and the little touches like the record player, telescope, homemade Welsh cakes and farm eggs. Really does feel like you're on a private retreat. We also made friends with the lovely farm animals. Without doubt the best Airbnb stay we've had. We'll definitely go back!

  • What can you say? Heavenly! We stayed at Mouse House in February 2020, just after Storm Dennis, and not even the weather could dampen our spirits, such is this gem of a rural retreat in mid-Wales. Had the weather been better, we'd have no doubt set off on long walks in the beautiful countryside that surrounds Mouse House. But, the rain stopped play. Not that we'd complain. Mouse House is a delightful little place, with relaxing views of the ducks swimming across the pond/lake during the day, and a wonderfully warm log burner for cozy nights. We'd suggest packing a book or two, switching off all links to the outside world, and sitting back to let time pass. Although, if you do want to be connected, Mouse House has superfast broadband, Wi-Fi and Netflix on the huge smart TV. Seriously, we loved our stay and the little touches that Rachael and Mike added to make us welcome. I think it's fair to say we'll be back. Please keep that welcome in the hillsides!

  • Beautifully decorated place with stunning surroundings and all the essentials you could need thanks to the outstanding hospitality. The bed is extremely comfy and the tv and sound speakers were such good quality. Definitely coming back again 👌🏼

  • The Mouse House really is a tranquil little hidden gem and perfect in every way! The location is well away from the beaten track and perfect for some rest and relaxation, the setting is really beautiful and directions were spot on. I arrived the day after the storms and despite this, Rachael and Mike were perfect hosts, keeping me fully informed at every step. Such thoughtful personal touches really made the trip for me, the personal welcome and tour, local produce and home-made Welsh Cakes. The inside is warm and cosy and décor fabulous, lovely log burner, comfy sofa and amazing bathroom and bedroom, and spotlessly clean throughout, definitely a well deserved 5 stars! I can't recommend the Mouse House enough to anyone wanting to escape for some rest and relaxation, a romantic weekend and just enjoy the surrounding countryside. I will definitely be visiting again soon :-)

  • The Mouse House was brilliant - tucked away in the Welsh countryside, lovely little house with everything you need. Mike and Rachael were excellent hosts. Storm Ciara hit during our stay resulting in a power cut in the area but Mike and Rachael were extremely generous, making sure we still had everything we needed and our holiday disrupted as little as possible - even cooking a hot dinner for us! Would massively recommend the Mouse House to anyone looking. Thanks again Mike and Rachael!

    Vicky2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • What a fabulous place! Set amongst beautiful countryside in its own garden by a lake with its own decking and bbq area. Spotlessly clean and furnished to a high standard with everything you could possibly need (and more) to hand. Fresh eggs, homemade jam and chutney along with Rachaels homemade welsh cakes were very much appreciated and were all extremely yummy! Lovely friendly hosts who are on hand if needed but not intrusive in any way. A menagerie of animals including a friendly dog, chickens, cockerel and alpacas. We will definitely be returning and will be recommending to our family and friends!

    Wendy2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • You definitely have to check this little hidden gem out! It is in a secluded area but close to the shops if u need to grab food or want to eat out. The hideaway is a perfect getaway for a long weekend and is so peaceful. Rachael and Mike left thoughtful little touches such as the gorgeous welsh cakes and the welcome note on the board as you arrive. The mouse house is a must visit and i will definitely be recommending it in the future. I can imagine it is even more welcoming in the summer when you get to enjoy sitting outside amongst the wilderness. Book it now you wont be disappointed!

  • Me and my boyfriend booked a last minute trip to the Mouse House in Wales. It was incredibly good value for money and looked amazing online. When we got there we were greeted with great communication from our hosts who welcomed us and set us up with anything we needed. The house is in a beautiful, peaceful setting and the hosts went above and beyond to make sure we had lovely little touche

  • We really enjoyed our stay. The cottage is at very mesmerising location. It had all the necessary amenities. The little one with us was fascinated by the location and the nature around the house. Ruth is a wonderful host and start from the booking she kept contact with us and even she came to meet us and say good bye. It was very nice to meet Ruth and know about the history of the place and cottage.

    Abhisek2019-04-23T00:00:00Z
  • Ruth's place is fantastic. It is set in what you would envision Welsh country living. The place itself is a marvel especially how the inside is transformed into a cozy living space. Snowdonia is closeby as well and we drove over 500 miles exploring

    Jonathan2019-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • The most wonderful place to stay in North Wales, in terms of decoration, communication with host and location! Worth every penny!

    Hannah2018-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • Ruth’s cottage is amazing. It’s close enough to local towns whilst retaining the feeling of being perfectly secluded. The space was super clean and provided everything we could have asked for. Ruth was on hand to help out as much as possible and provided and exceptional service during our stay.

  • A great stay at Margaret’s place. She was there to meet us with a smile! Made sure we had everything we needed. Great views of the Welsh countryside.

    Gavin2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • A little off the beaten track, with all that entails, it was great to get away from it all.

    Dave2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Without any doubt this was the best Airbnb I have ever been. The house has two different sitting rooms with sofa, 3 shower/toilet, upstair balcony with sitting arrangements, outside sitting area etc. Marg was one of the best engaging host I have ever met. I have no idea if anyone can expect anything better than this for a £75 a night. Wales is a beautiful country and the location of the house is perfect to explore snowdonia national parks and surrounding areas. I will go back and I am already recommending my friends and family to book Marg's place for a beautiful time.

    Mo2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Nice cottage for a family getaway. Margaret will try her best to make you feel home. There isn’t a good network connection, and wifi in our case wasn’t working its usual best which was slightly disappointing specially when it was raining outside. But it was a mini break for us and i guess it’s good be disconnected for couple of days! Beautiful views and a scenic quite place to hang out for few days.

    Prapti2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Great place, wonderful place for kids, especially if weather is good. Be prepared to travel a little if you want more activities. Very warm and friendly hosts

    Paul2019-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great place with a really lovely home feel. All clean and quite. In a working farm but we never felt disturbed. It was great to see the day to day. Host was really welcoming as were her family who live on adjoining property. A really relaxing location with a village close by. You will need motorised transport to get back and forth. We used the place to explore Wales by motorcycles and for this it was ideally located. Great roads north, east, south and west. Couldn’t have asked for more but I’m sure if we had then Margret would have sorted it out! She also managed to lay on perfect weather 😉 Planning next year already

  • Cefn cottage is a very nice and comfortable place to stay. The accommodation is spacious, neat and tidy, and very well equipped - good heating and insulation meant we were very comfortable despite the weather being wet and cold during our stay. It has everything we needed, even including entertainment (many channels for television and lots of DVDs to watch). Our host is truly a very welcoming and gracious host! On our first day to the accommodation, she was there to meet us, and even gave us a welcome snack that she baked herself. The weather was cold that day, and she insisted and helped us to set up a fire in the living room fireplace to ensure we were kept warm. During the week, she checked in to make sure we were ok with things at the cottage, but otherwise left us to our own privacy. The kids also loved playing in the yard outside the cottage. There were toys and games set up outside for them to play (including a giant trampoline which they absolutely loved!) and these became a fun evening activity for the kids to play outside after we returned from a day of touring around. All in all, a wonderful stay, and we wished it could have been longer when we had to leave. Would definitely love to come back again someday, and a highly recommended accommodation for others looking to have a nice, cozy stay.

Traditional Mongolian yurt in stunning quiet position overlooking uninhabited valleys. A very romantic spot. Min 3 day let with changeovers on Monday or Friday. Located on fascinating small organic farm/ little community. Be reclusive or sociable!
This hand painted, traditional Mongolian yurt has a wonderfully secluded feel in its position at the head of three uninhabited valleys. 19' diameter, furnished with a (made up) double and single bed. 2 small mattresses can be pulled out from under the beds for children - for which you will need to bring bedding. A basket of wood is provided for the woodburner inside - further baskets can be bought for £8 each. There is a pile of wood we have collected that you can saw up for your fire pit. Tea lights are provided for lighting. (There is no electricity) It is in its own little enclosure with a fire pit which you can cook over and where you can sit to unwind at the end of the day. Cooking and dining in a wonderfully converted old school bus with kitted out kitchen. There are loos and hot showers in the farmyard. Friendly and unique - find seclusion, or become involved in the busy life of the small community with volunteers from all over the world. Traditional 17th century farmhouse, chapel. Hand milked jersey cows, cheesemaking, winemaking. 100 acre farm with sheep, woodlands, . For children the are streams to paddle in , a pond to fish for newts in, woods to explore, trampoline, croquet. This is not glamping but it is comfortable enough - bring your wellies and come back to the wild! We are involved in Cathedral archaeology, traditional crafts, building a stone age farm, tanning, natural building....and lots more!
This is sheep country - 25 of them to every one of us! So it feels remote and there is no sound of traffic. But the small friendly market town of Llanidloes is only for miles away - or an hours walk. There you can mix with the locals in the market or one of the pubs. Its a special place - beyond the commuters run, with a strong sense of community and a welcome to visitors,
  • If you want to get away from it all, be in nature but sleep in a comfy bed this is the place to go. We spent a great week with our 3 kids spending time outside, cooking on the fire, playing with the dogs, collecting eggs, messing in the stream and bouncing on the trampoline.

    Simon2019-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • Such a wonderful place to stay! An inspiration, relaxing & cosy! The view from the yurt & fire pit was so beautiful peaceful and quiet - It felt like a true getaway! Would love to come back!

  • The best UK holiday experience for the whole family, 10 out of 10!

    Marina2019-04-12T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here for the second time and if anything this time around was better as our youngest child was now 4 and so we could enjoy it more as a family. We stayed in the orange yurt again and the slight changes in the setup of furniture etc really improve the layout. We are a family of 5 and you could literally fit all of us in the huge bed comfortably and cozily. The fact that there are two fold up beds and even a spare mattress are a huge bonus. The area surrounding the yurt is outstanding. The view is simply breathtaking. There is a fire pit/BBQ outside the yurt with plenty of space and seats to enjoy the view. Also the yurt has a log burner. We enjoyed walking through the forest and playing on the two swings in the trees. There are excellent new shower facilities and toilets located in the main farm farm building and also a compost toilet situated nearly Merlins bus. The bus has been transformed in to a kitchen/diner and has all the appliances and equipment you need to make a nice meal. All in all our experience was great once again and we will definitely be visiting again this year and making it an annual tradition.

  • We arrived late in the evening to lit candles and fire, hot water bottles in the beds and home made cake and wine. Really lovely!

  • Grateful to Fran for accommodating me last minute despite one of the yurts catching fire and being unusable! I had a wonderful time in the carriage on the hill - so relaxing and beautiful. Such gorgeous views of the farm and valley. Warm, comfy bed - could have slept all day in it. Best bath I've ever had the pleasure of spending time in (in the farmhouse). Felt so welcome despite being on my own didn't feel alone once. Enjoyed Llanidloes a lot - quirky small town with friendly locals, plenty of scenic walks and importantly - affordable, hot, tasty food. Fran and Kevin kindly got me to and from the station which helped me immensely for a straightforward trip. I'm already planning to come back and am quite tempted to volunteer to learn more about their work (and passions) on the farm. Thank you for having me. A special, charming and interesting place.

  • We had a lovely stay in the very comfortable Orange Yurt. The views from the yurt were stunning and it was lovely to sit round the fire pit in the evening or put the wood stove in the yurt on. Cooking is in a wonderful converted bus and facilities were good, a good cooker, plenty of pans and crockery and a sink with hot and cold running water as well as a toaster, microwave and kettle. The toilet nearest to the yurt was a composting one, don't be out off by this, it was fine and has a handbasin. We found the solar shower took a while to warm up but lighting the wood stove on the bus really helped to heat the water for everyone to shower. Our host was lovely and there were lots of welcoming touches. The nearby town has lots of small retailers, cafes and restaurants and a market as well as a couple of supermarkets. We definitely hope to stay again.

    Georgy2016-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • Impossible to describe how beautiful, tranquil, generous and friendly the place is. Frances and her farm helpers have been very welcoming. It's a special place indeed. Come here to relax, walk, perfect for groups. We stayed in the Orange Yurt. It has amazing views and is very big. A simple but rich experience. We shall undoubtably return.

  • Ruth's cottage provided a lovely base for us on our trip to Wales, we were outdoors for the majority of our trip, leaving early in the morning and getting back after dark. It was nice knowing we had a warm, cosy cottage to return to, and that waterproofs would dry overnight ready for the next day. Ruth was very helpful with directions, checking in etc. We cooked in cottage, and there wasn't anything that we found to be missing, and it was handy to have both a fridge and a freezer. It's in a convenient location, with a co-op and a spar (with post office) within walking distance, as well as a number of pubs and takeaways/fish and chip shops. The public car park just to the side of the property was also very handy.

Do not hesitate to ask him how the heaters and the gas fireplace works because we did not succeed and our night was slightly cold. Rhain rule is no shoes in the flat to help look after the carpet so remember to pack your slippers or what ever you usually wear at home. I felt very comfortable staying here. The bed was extremely comfortable in the bedroom I used which was located up a flight of stairs. The bedroom was looking over the street. So please be aware that you can hear people voices especially if they are outside the pubs. However it all quickly goes quiet once the pub closes. I would recommend this place to stay and would definitely use the flat again.

Bwthyn Bellis is a private, completely self-contained, self-catering area adjoining our own barn conversion. Formerly a cow shed, we are upgrading the main house bit by bit and Helen in particular spends a great deal of time in the garden which extends to 2 acres with a stream down one side, chickens in the wooded area at the bottom of the valley and lots of different formal and informal collections of plants and flowers. You are more than welcome to wander and enjoy this space at your leisure. This year's projects include creating a large wildlife pond, constructing a pig pen and expanding what is already a fair-sized organic fruit and vegetable garden. The kitchen with a breakfast bar and shower room are on the ground floor and up a flight of four steps through a door is the sitting room with futon, fold-away table and four chairs, bookcase with maps, guides, an assortment of board games and books and a flat-screen television. An east facing stable door takes you on to your own patio area with a table and four chairs and views across the valley and into the garden. Up a further flight of stairs is the mezzanine bedroom with a queen sized double bed and a cabin bed that can be used either as a sofa or further single/double bed. This is a comfortable, rustic and cosy space that family always scramble to occupy first whenever we have large gatherings. There is under-unit heating in the kitchen, radiators throughout and a wood stove in the sitting room. All bedlinen and towels are provided and you have sole use of a cooker, fridge and washing machine. If you need to dry clothes there is a ceiling mounted pulley drying rack in the kitchen and a line in the garden. In an emergency we have a tumble dryer in the barn which can also be made available on request for a small charge. We charge from £55 per night Sunday - Thursday, £65 per night Friday and Saturday for 2 people. Our standard rate is for up to 2 guests using one bed. There is an additional charge of £10 per extra bed up to a maximum of 4 guests
Mid wales is a forgotten jewel and this is one of the least populated areas of the UK. For a time, both of us were commuting back to England to work and we always felt peace descend as we returned to this area, approached our hills and left the busy roads behind. It is gloriously tranquil here. No traffic or light pollution and if you climb either of the hills on a clear day you will be rewarded with views that will take your breath away The nearest shops are in our busy local market town of Llanidloes, about 3 miles away. Listed amongst the five most desirable postcodes in Wales, in a report commissioned by the Royal Mail last year, Llanidloes is a fantastic little town - lovely people, good independent shops as well as 2 supermarkets, lovely pubs, cafes, restaurants, a street market on Saturdays and lots of history. Further information can be found on the town's website.
  • Bwthyn Bellis is a lovely, cosy house nestling in the hills above Llanidloes. We found the cottage and countryside peaceful and a great location to relax. We loved being able to walk in some stunning countryside right from the door and enjoyed the quirky bookshops and cafes of Lllanidloes. The house and bed are comfortable and very well equipped. Ample firewood was provided for the wood burning stove and there was an extensive collection of maps and guides that helped us make the most of our stay. Helen and Adrian made us very welcome with great advice, both before and during our stay. We can highly recommend this property!

  • Helen was a wonderful host who catered to all of our needs. Her home was absolutely beautiful and super clean! The place was equipped with everything you'd need for a short getway and the log burner was a lovely addition to our stay. I would definitely stay in this cosy little home again with no hesitation!

  • Second time I've stayed with Helen. Outstanding accommodation, very cosy house for a winter trip.

    Lapwing2019-11-07T00:00:00Z
  • Helen was a friendly and communicative host, and it was lovely to meet her on our final day. The place was absolutely spotless – a cosy and charming retreat in a really remote spot of Wales (which is just what we were looking for). We made good use of the log burner to keep ourselves warm during the cold and wet autumn nights! Pretty much perfect.

  • A beautiful location and a homely stay. This is the perfect place to rest your head if you’re exploring mid-Wales, and Helen provides such a lovely home to do so. Thoughtful touches, loads of information on the local area and a very comfortable stay. This provided me with a home from home whilst I did a placement in Llanidloes, but also served as a great base from which to explore this stunning area!

    Zoe2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Helen’s place is fantastic. Peaceful, clean and comfortable. A great place to relax and recharge.

    Becky2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic accommodation, very clean, nice selection of tea and coffee (and homemade honey) provided. We were staying on a work trip so we didn't spend long enough in the home to properly enjoy the facilities, but this would make a great base for a holiday - the garden in particular is amazing.

  • A fabulous relaxing place on the national cycle route 8/81. It is walking distance to Llanidoes centre, but sufficiently distant to enjoy undisturbed silence at night. The rooms and bathrooms were immaculately clean and really really comfy. There was also a generous and delicious vegan breakfast in the morning, with coffee/tea and locally sourced bread that was amazing. Best of all was Susanne and Steve's warm and welcoming hosting. Excellent communication, tea/coffee and cake on arrival and always making sure our stay was the tops. 10 out of 10 for pretty much everythimg.

She was prompt and great in providing local information and even made the necessary booking for us. She was kind enough to offer pancakes (off the menu) which made our son’s day! I would definitely recommend the place.

  • We had a wonderful and relaxing stay at Lisa & family. The room was very neat, the breakfast is really really good. To wake up in a room with such an amazing view over the hills and the sheep is fantastic. The location is not only quiet and relaxing, but is also quite handy to discover different areas (south and mid Wales, Snowdonia national park).

  • Super comfy bed in a clean room. Very well situated for a wedding we were attending nearby. Considerate hosts. Thank you.

Converted 19th century chapel to very comfortable specification, open plan and double height space to relax after walking, cycling, hiking, touring or popping down the shooting range or pub. Four bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, downstairs loo & utility, sofa bed, sofas and plenty of dining space in main room or at breakfast bar. Rangemaster double oven. Rear garden for relaxation where sun sets. Solar heating, underfloor downstairs and highly insulated & draft-proofed Weekday lower rates available
Primarily it's a vast, open plan space. The original chapel was imperial scale 36 x 48 foot. For families it's very comfortable around the sofas, or activities at the central dining tables. No corridors so that means you perhaps, have less privacy it gives a crisp open space. All bedrooms at the rear of the building facing the garden and farm. Room with bunk beds also contains a cot.
We have signposted walks round the village, of course you can go further! The local pub is a pleasure for drink, food and interesting events (sheep shearing in the car park, etc)
  • We booked Robert's Chapel for Joint Family Birthdays & what a great venue it was. The weather could have been better but regardless of the outside conditions we were snug inside without so much of a creak coming from the solid old building. You would assume it would be cold inside such a vast space but just the opposite once the heating had fired up, The first night we put the wood burner on & sat in the lounge laughing & enjoying each others company into the wee small hours & didn't move too far the following day, You could spend hours reading the many framed memorabilia a person of my age could relate to. I would wholeheartedly recommend for groups but treat it with respect.

  • Second visit to Robert's place and once again throughly enjoyed it. We look forward to staying again in the future!

  • We had a wonderful stay. Directions were perfect and check in was simple and easy. We loved looking around the beautiful building and were intrigued with all of the interesting items and collections! There was plenty of space for eating, socialising and playing games. We enjoyed going to the local pub for tea which was great value and going to lovely walks in the local area. Would recommend this place!

  • Very eccentric different place to stay. Very clean with a great host. So much space and has everything you need! Great time.

    Maisie2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • Roberts place is absolutely fantastic. Robert is a great host - kept in contact and responded very quickly to any questions. The house is lovely - really well stocked, and such a great layout. Such a big space which was perfect for a family get together. Thanks for such a lovely stay!

    Josie2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Fabulous space for a group reunion/get together - full of quirk and wonder. Common area and dining is totally perfect for a social gathering. Beautifully converted chapel - great kitchen amenities and big oven and fridge. You'd have an amazing table for a large roast or xmas dinner or sharing tapas. Best to cater for yourselves and have drinks at the bar type space as the village pub has restricted kitchen opening and space and availability and is not anywhere as nice an environment as the home. Newtown is further away than you think and none of the Indians in Newtown deliver that far so you've only really got a Chinese or a chip shop about 4 miles away. We opted to self cater and stay in as was a much better option for us. The walls are covered with music memorabilia (& more) which was fascinating if you like that kind of music but still interesting if not! Robert is great at getting back quickly with info and local knowledge. All 8 of my group would go back.

One of the best beds I have slept in, you just seem to melt into it after a tiring day with top quality bedding. Lisa is a wonderful host and would love to stay again, nothing was too much trouble.

1 of 5 self contained cottages. Great for walking, fishing, biking or simply getting away from it all. Situated 2 miles from the beautiful market town of Llanidloes where you will find supermarkets, pubs restaurants and a swimming pool.
A 2 bedroom cottage nestling on the easterly slopes of an unspoilt valley. Glyngynwydd is set in an area of outstanding natural beauty amid mountains, hills, lakes and rivers. South of Llanidloes we stand in twelve acres of land which include; woodland, a wildlife pond, meadow, relaxing gardens and our own stream and dingle for our guests to enjoy.
Glyngynwydd has been listed in local records as a "township" since early times and now consists of a traditional 17th century farmhouse, surrounded by a cluster of farm buildings of various ages, some of which have been sympathetically converted to provide five self-contained holiday cottages.

  • We enjoyed 3 nights at this beautiful rural location while visiting the Royal Welsh Show, which was about half an hour away. Amazing views and so peaceful. Friendly family run business. Very hospitable hosts. The cottage had rustic charm, was clean and had all the basic amenities. Loved watching the ducks and chickens wandering round and throwing sticks for Guinnes the family dog. No phone service in the cottage but could get a few bars in the field opposite. WiFi was available and worked well most of the time. I’m sure we will be back to stay in the future.

  • Lovely location far enough away from civilsation to be quiet and private but close enough not to feel cut off. If you have dogs be careful of the ticks in the woods. They thrive in humid, moist conditions and would like nothing more than to hitch a ride on your pooch. Horrible, dangerous things

  • This was a lovely cottage containing everything we needed for our trip to Wales. Our place is 1 mile out of Llanidloes, an area with much to offer - the sea, the hills, the Elan valley, CAT, close to Hafren forest the source of the Severn, Severn way cycle routes 8 and 81. Elan valley within easy driving, steam railways at Welshpool & Devils bridge. You’ll love our place because we can see the stars and there's hardly any traffic. Our place is good for vegetarians, vegans, couples, solo adventurers, and business travellers, walkers bikers and cyclists.
We have 2 rooms, 1 double with ensuite, and twin room with adjoining bathroom. On the cooler evenings sitting by the log burner is a pleasant relaxing way to end the day. Or you can enjoy the sitting space within your room. Clear nights reveal so many stars to gaze at in the peaceful countryside. We can offer vegan / vegetarian evening meals with prior notice. Although we feel the space isn't suitable for young children because of the wood burner we do have a travel cot for young babies.
We live near the River Severn and can just step out of our gate into the countryside where there are many walks some more strenuous than others. Aberystwyth is 30 miles away, CAT about the same. Hafren forest just 5 miles up the valley as well as the Elan valley where there are cycle paths around the lakes and dams. There are a couple of steam railways within easy reach.
  • Excellent location and lovely rooms very well equipped. Off road parking, delicious breakfasts and very hospitable hosts who made our stay perfect. Highly recommended.

  • Absolute gem of an airbnb. We didn’t feel like guests, we felt like loved family members. A really lovely couple, with interesting and engaging conversation. Outstanding hospitality; they couldn’t do enough to help, even helped us clean our bikes and shoes. The house was spotless and homely, excellent quiet location. A beautiful and very calm and friendly dog. Five star stay!

  • A really lovely and comfortable room a short way from Llanidloes. It was perfect for us because, although a short way from town it is right alongside Sustrans cycling route 8, which we were following. Susanne an Steve were brilliant hosts and looked after us extremely well, providing us with a prearranged evening meal and an early breakfast. We very much enjoyed their company while we were there.
