Places to stay in Llanhamlach
In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a hobbit-hole and that means comfort.
Thank you so much to everyone that has stayed and left such lovely reviews. Yes it's a small space but everyone seems to have enjoyed staying. We've certainly enjoyed it ourselves a couple of times (well we had to test it didn't we!) Nowhere else can you stay with a view like this from your comfortable bed! We are only 15 minutes from Hay on Wye and the perfect place to stay during the Hay festival. The Hobbit House has a wood-fired cooker so that you can cook your own meals and there is running water just outside. A large sofabed folds out to a full-sized double bed with a deep comfortable mattress. All bedding etc provided. Dinner and breakfast can be provided at extra cost - how about a nice hearty stew in a slow-cooker ready for you to arrive, with fresh bread warming in the Hobbit House's wood-fired oven? We have a number of great walks starting from the doorstep and a rural pub over the road. (please note that the pub is generally only open at weekends) PLEASE NOTE: 95% of people have loved staying here, but it isn't to everyone's tastes. it IS small. it does have a sofa bed rather than a proper bed. The bathroom is down in our house and although it is for your exclusive use, it is a 30 second walk away. This is glamping, not luxury. But if that suits you then you'll have an amazing time.
A Hobbit House in the middle of the beautiful Brecon Beacons. I think that's pretty unique don't you?!
  • Lovely break away. Really peaceful location. Cute space to stay in and lots of information given.

  • We spent 2 nights in the hobbit house and it was fantastic! Tin supplier fire wood which was amazing as it was freezing cold!!! Any young couples looking for a quirky weekend away and like having adventures this is the place for you.

    Jason2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • The hobbit house really is small, but it's also gorgeous. We were very cosy once the fire was going and had everything we needed. We cooked all our meals on the wood-fired stove which is a wonderful way to cook! We cheated and used our camping stove for coffee in the morning when we weren't patient enough for the fire to get going. The location is superb, with beautiful views and excellent walks right on the doorstep: we didn't quite make it up Waun Fach due to high winds but had a wonderful walk nonetheless culminating in a delicious pint in the Dragon's Back pub. And there are loads of fantastic walks within a short driving distance. Talgarth is just a short drive away for getting in some supplies, and there is a short but beautiful walk with impressive waterfalls right next to the town. The whole area was pretty muddy when we were there so be prepared if it's been raining!

  • What a fun place to stay, one of a kind! We loved spending the night in your Hobbit House, especially our 3 year old who had a blast! She especially loved Bear and helping keep an eye on the fire. It was a great addition to our adventures in Wales, just walking up to it was exciting with our tour guide, Bear the dog! The milk and chocolate was a lovely surprise too, thank you very much for a unique place to rest our heads.

  • Amazing place to stay. Tin is very informative and quick to respond. Thank you for a great stay

    Mark2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place, truly magical. The surrounding areas are fabulous and Bear is a super extra host! The place was super clean, the fire was fab and the brochures were really helpful. Would definitely recommend a local pub called the Farmers Arms for some reasonably priced but amazing food :) 10/10 will stay again!

    Charlotte2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • I sent my brother and his wife to the hobbit hole as a present!! They absolutely loved it.

  • Absolutely amazing stay at Riversound B&B! The location was breathtakingly beautiful and the apartment itself was gorgeous. Jacqui provided a wide selection of breakfast choices and ample recommendations for nearby walks and attractions. Regular visits from Albus (Jacqui’s very friendly dog) was the icing on the cake :) Thank you for a wonderful stay - it was the relaxing break we needed! We will be back :)

  • This is an amazing apartment to stay for a get away. I came with my boyfriend and it’s in such a beautiful location with amazing walks nearby. Would love to come back and stay again soon! Jacqui was lovely and was always around if we ever needed anything and provided breakfast which was a lovely start to each day.

    Cara2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • We love to stay at Riversound, mostly because Jacqui takes such good care of us We do not have to worry about breakfast or sandwich makings. She keeps us full of croissants, toast, tea, yogurt and fresh fruit! The space is lovingly decorated and you go to sleep and wake up to the river outside your door. Lots of pubs within walking or a quick drive. If you are like me, and work full time and want to escape this is a slice of heaven. We moved on to a place in north Wales that is nice with a view. There is such a difference in how I feel coming to Jacqui's home..it is so cozy and delightful.

  • Stunning place, beautiful scenes, cosy and clean! Fully recommend!

    Sophie2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • We needed 2 days of rest and nature. We got more than we needed here. The open fire, the rushing waters and the water fall on your door step cleared away any cobwebs. This is an amazing place to stay. I can not recommend Jacqui and John highly enough.

    Maged2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Great space, had breakfast stuff and drink etc there waiting for us. No cooker or hob but the pub was about a minute walk from the house or there were loads of places around if you’ve got a car. It was raining when we were there but it would have been so lovely to sit outside and have breakfast and watch the river. Lots of maps and personal recommendations for things to do when we arrived. We drive to the four waterfalls and did the walk which was amazing but it was a bit of a drive. Definitely need a car if you want to explore. Very pretty views. We had a lovely time.

    Cassia2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cottage, great location. Quick responses with tips on the local area. Amazing extras for special touch. Biscuits, fruit, milk, juice, breakfast condiments, bread, fresh coffee. Made the weekend very special. Even messaged to say not to rush checking out and to take our time. Thanks so much for a lovely stay x

    Laura2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely conversion in an incredible location! Property was really clean with plenty of supplies offered by the host! Short walk from local pubs and we’ll definitely be coming back!

The Shepherds Carriage is a unique structure which we built from from scratch over the course of a year. Our initial intention was to replicate the ever popular Shepherds hut, but as it grew in stature, both in height and in length, it took on its own unique look and many of our friends and family have likened it to a railway carriage or cabouse, hence its name! If you are keen to escape the hussle and bussle of daily life, and visit a very beautiful and relaxing part of the country you should consider The Shepherds Carriage @ Plaswye. Located in the picturesque village of Llyswen in the heart of the Wye Valley, the cabin is situated in the grounds of our own home and enjoys a private secluded spot next to a babbling brook with far reaching views of the Black Mountains and Wye Valley. The cabin offers a level of luxury not normally found in a glamping setting, while still retaining that all important back to basics feeling! It has its own large garden, an outdoor luxury hot tub, from where you can take in the mountain views and stars at night, a fire pit, hammock and bbq. Residents are also welcome to roam around our fields and orchard, which amount to 6 acres where our friendly goat billy lives with a small flock of black mountain sheep. Inside, the cabin couldn’t be cosier, heated by a wood burner, it has its own open plan living area with smart TV and wifi, a corner sofa that converts into a full size double bed, a well equipped kitchen with gas stove and cooker, a fridge freezer, a table which seats up to four and a bathroom with power shower and flushing toilet! Accessed via a trap door in the ceiling there is also a separate bedroom with a comfy double bed and luxurious bedding. You could experience the best nights sleep ever, we did! Be it summer or winter you are sure to come away feeling rested and revived! Guests have the opportunity to do as much or as little as they like. They can merely stay put and chill, or venture out and enjoy a host of pursuits from walking, kayaking, mountain biking, sailing and flying to a lazy day wondering around the nearby book town of Hay on Wye or market town of Brecon, nestled at the foot of Pen Y Fan, the highest mountain in southern Britain and part of the famous Brecon beacons national park. There are also some great walks direct from your doorstep, such as the Wye Valley walk and the climb, immediately behind the cabin up onto Brechfa common from where you get an amazing 360 degree view of the entire area. For keen fishermen we can also offer you access to our own private stretch of fishing on the river wye, a famous salmon fishing river and only a short walk away. If you are looking for a romantic retreat, a family holiday or a place to simply chill and destress, we are sure you won’t be disappointed! • Would highly recommend this getaway - so well thought out and beautifully presented. Hot tub was an added bonus and our hosts were really helpful and went above and beyond - thank you

    Rowan2020-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at the Shepherd's Carriage! Our goal was to unwind completely and the cabin offered just that - along with all the amenities you could need (including Wi-Fi, usb ports in the plug sockets, plenty of cooking utensils and pots, great shower and of course the hot tub). We didn't venture too far from the cabin as it was so luxurious. We enjoyed cooking meals, having a glass of wine and completely chilling out. Our hosts were excellent and we loved the thoughtful touches that made our stay extra special. Thank you!

    Lauren2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • We were recommended the shepherds hut by friends who had stayed at the end of last year. Expectations were set very high and this place did not disappoint. It's so cosy and clean and very well thought through, it made for a really relaxing weekend. The location is perfect for walks with no need to drive. Loved it

    Jessica2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • I wanted something a little different and this carriage was perfect. From the gorgeous wooden interior, woolen throws and luxurious sheets, to the secluded whirlpool hot tub with spectacular views, our stay was spot on. Richard was warm and welcoming, he came and helped us immediately when we had an issue with the cooker. Great local information made for a beautiful walk and pub dinner. We fell in love with Billy the Goat and enjoyed watching the sheep from the hot tub at sun rise. Will definitely be returning.

    Sophie2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely weekend stay at the shepherds hut, it is such an idillic setting and Richard had thought of everything... we enjoyed the Welsh cakes (among other food) left for us! Despite the rain we made the most of the hot tub and had a very relaxing time, we’ll definitely try to come back, perhaps with friends next time!

    Katrina2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Couldn't recommend this place enough, Richard is a top host and what he's created is truly special, we shall definitely be revisiting

    Adam2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Richard’s place was fantastic, the shepherds carriage was beautifully built by him and was very well thought out, cosy and homely. He met us upon arrival and was incredibly helpful with showing us how things worked including the hot tub and making sure we were settled with everything we could need. He also gave us great recommendations on local restaurants and walks - including mentioning a walk up to a pool above the hut which was definitely worth seeing especially with all the horses! Inside we had fresh milk, bread, eggs, tea making facilities and welsh cakes, just what we needed after a long drive! And of course the hot tub was fantastic for relaxing after a long walk! Would highly recommend and hope to return again in the future, thank you Richard.

  • We really enjoyed staying in Sian's lovely comfortable home. It is beautifully positioned by the river, a very relaxing and peaceful place, the log burner was a great asset at this time of year!

    Carol2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Sians place is beautiful, I would totally recommend to anyone wanting an off the grid getaway. The balcony that sits above the river that runs directly behind the house is such a lovely space for a tea or hot chocolate after a morning walk. Due to some poor weather we didn’t get to walk and explore the local area as much as we would have liked, however there were ample amenities within the house to keep us occupied including some board games, TV and of course the hot tub. Sian was very quick to respond and resolved any issues we had effectively. Check in and check out was really simple. If you have a slightly bigger car, the car parking immediately outside the house may be a bit tight, however there is a space across the road to use. Overall, we all loved our stay at Sians place. Thank you!

    Charlotte2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Had a fab weekend. Loved the log burner, nice big size and the logs were appreciated. Very cosy in the evening, especially as we had freezing temperatures. The hot tub was a treat! Well equipped kitchen and very comfy double bed. Sian has left lots of info on things to do in the area. We did 2 of the walks from the books there. Stunning countryside and views. Brecon is a lovely town with everything you may need and just a short drive from the cottage. Such a peaceful and relaxing time. Would love to return in the summer months to sit on the balcony, soak up the sun and just watch the river flow.

We moved to the Brecon Beacons to enjoy the good life. We have a little bit of land and a few animals. We're planting as many trees as we can for heating - over 2,000 so far! we also have a hobbit house! This room has an en-suite shower room and includes exclusive use of a large outdoor wood-fired hot tub!
On the side of a Welsh mountain in the Brecon Beacons but easy to find and with good road access to the local area. We have a number of great walks starting from the doorstep and a rural pub over the road. (please note that the pub is generally only open at weekends) This is a ground floor room with en-suite shower room. The room has a double bed and also a pull out camp bed for a third person as needed. There are a couple of steps though so please contact us if you have special requirements. We also have our very own our "hobbit house" which is also available to rent!
Where better to stay than the beautiful Brecon Beacons?
  • The house was as described, a home away from home. We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend away here. The local knowledge booklet in the room was great, we did one of the walks suggested straight from the door of the cottage. The hot tub is amazing. Bear was adorable and very well behaved. Would recommend to anyone wanting a relaxing, yet homely stay.

  • A home from home, we felt so very welcome at Tin’s place, but also had complete freedom to come and go as we pleased. Perfect place to explore the local area, or relax and enjoy the amazing hot tub! X

  • Tin and Rosie’s home is beautiful and so welcoming! If it wasn’t for storm Dennis we would have taken a dip in the hot tub! But we will come back when it’s a bit sunnier!!

  • Had a lovely time staying here, family were lovely and welcoming and we thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub, perfect way to relax.

  • What a great place! I was looking for a quiet spot to relax and unwind with my wife for her birthday. On arrival there is an info pack and obviously the WiFi code 😎. That is all we needed! We spent time exploring both Crickhowell and Brecon. Unfortunately the weather put an end to any hill walking but that was expected. The listing describes this place superbly. The hot tub was excellent and although the air temperature was cold 🥶 the water was perfect. We didn’t bump into our hosts but we did meet “Bear” their dog. He is just a bundle of energy and so friendly. We recommend this place if you’re looking for a quiet spot. A car is needed to get about which was advised in the listing so everything was perfect 👌🏻

    Gareth2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • Tin was a wonderful host and nothing was too much trouble. We felt really welcome and comfortable during our stay. Lovely hot tub and very sweet dog and cat which was just the icing on the cake! As it says, the location is by the main road, but as a light sleeper it didn’t bother me at all. Thank you again, Tin!

Positioned off a private drive & half a mile from the nearest road, we have designed & built a romantic en-suite shepherd's hut that we hope will be the perfect place from which to explore the Brecon Beacons or to simply relax and admire the breath taking views of Pen-y-Fan thanks to its position at 800 ft above sea level. Please note, the hut is 4 MILES from Brecon where you’ll find supermarkets & pubs etc. - there are none in the village! There is NO WIFI, but most networks get decent 3/4G.
We have built "The Acorn" at the end of my in-laws paddock which is 150m from their house. (We live at the bottom of the drive),It is surrounded by farmland and has its own little enclosed garden and parking area. We have designed it to cater for two people. There is however the possibility that we could accommodate a two man tent in certain circumstances - please contact us regarding this. There will be an additional charge. The hut is beautifully cosy, as it is insulated and has 2 radiators. It has a double bed with sprung mattress and all linen is provided. (There is additional space at the foot of the bed to cater for those over 6 feet tall!) There is an en-suite with proper flushing toilet, basin, shower, towel rail and fluffy towels. There's a fitted kitchen with microwave, (microwave omelette maker & egg boiler). Slow cooker (& recipe book), toaster, small fridge (in the shed there is also a cool box and on request we can supply ice-packs), kettle & sink with hot and cold running water. There's complimentary tea/coffee & milk. There is a TV, with no signal but plenty of DVD's. There are electric sockets & even some speakers that you can plug your devices in to. Outside there is a fire pit which doubles up as a BBQ along with a seating area. There is parking for 2 cars (6 metres from the hut) and a storage shed for bikes etc or for drying clothes.
Within walking distance: There is a roman fort, hill top fort, a church and a river to paddle in & Aberyscir Common. Sadly we don’t own any of the land surrounding the shepherd’s hut, so don’t advise you wonder off across the fields. On a Wednesday during winter, they hold a pheasant shoot in the field below the hut. This tends to last no longer than 30 minutes or so. 1.3 miles away is Cradoc Golf Club, with its stunning course and great food. The closest amenities are in Brecon, which is a 10 minute drive away. There you will find: 3 supermarkets, cinema, theatre, chemists, post office, outward bound shops, pubs, restaurants, hospital, canal, river with paddle boats, military museum, sports centre and bike hire shop. Within 25 miles: Pen-y-Fan (South Wales' highest peak) The Big Pitt (coal mine) Brecon Mountain Railway Penderyn Distillery Dan-yr-Ogof caves Waterfall walks Abseiling & Rock climbing centres Horse riding / trekking Hay Literacy Festival (May) Abergavenny Food Festival (September) Brecon Jazz Festival (August) Builth Agricultural Show and lots lots more!
  • This was a lovely place in a beautiful part of the world, placed perfectly on the edge of a hill. The hut was really cute and every little thing had been thought of, from plasters to a shower cap. We had everything we needed and the host was very communicative. Remember the bump!

  • Great accomodation with an absolutely amazing view! Very secluded and private, which means you really get the feeling off being alone at the foot of the mountains.

  • Wonderful spot. Great cosy hut with thoughtful touches. Felt like a lovely private space with amazing views. A perfect base for a walking holiday or just a place to get away from it all.

  • The Acorn was a perfect getaway for exploring the Brecon Beacons! Such a snug, stylish and comfortable place in amazing surroundings. Loved the thoughtful touches (the mini welsh cakes were amazing!) and the bed was so comfy! We loved stargazing in front of the firepit with a drink to keep us warm. Thank you so much Sophie and Tim for a great stay, we will be back!

    Sophie2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Where to begin. What a fantastic place. Spotlessly clean inside and out with beautifully fresh smelling bedding and towels. The attention to detail is second to none, every little thing has been thought of from ice cubes and milk in the fridge, to marshmallows for the fire pit. It’s the perfect base for exploring Brecon and the views of Pen-Y-Fan are going to be hard to beat. There’s nothing quite like waking up and seeing the rolling hills and mountains from bed. Sophie’s hospitality is 5 star. Would highly recommend.

    Matthew2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place to stay! It's sad because we didn't been lucky with weather, but overall everything was perfect. Also Sophie is amazing host!

    Julius2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • The ‘Acorn’ is an amazing place to stay, in a really special private spot. I was a bit concerned about staying in such a small hut 800 metres above sea level with storm Dennis arriving, the communication from Sophie reassured me, the hut it so well built it didn’t even wobble in the high winds. Sophie added some nice touches before our arrival which made it extra special, we hope to return in the summer.

    Tom2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful getaway for relaxation. Loved all the personal touches Sophie put out. Looking forward to booking my next stay! X

Unique self contained cabin located in a picturesque village in the heart of the Wye Valley and close to the world renowned book town of Hay on Wye and the Brecon Beacons National Park. Double and single bed, well equipped kitchen, wood burner, shower room, private garden, outdoor hot tub which is always warm, hammock and fire pit. Romantic retreat, family holiday or somewhere to simply relax and de-stress!
The Shepherds Cabin is a one off structure we built from scratch over the course of a year. Initially we wanted to replicate the ever popular shepherds hut because we loved their old world charm and quirkiness, but in the end felt they were just too small. We were determined to retain that look and feel but at the same time create something spacious and self contained. Somewhere you could comfortably stay for more than just one or two nights! If you are keen to escape the hussle and bussle of daily life and have a really relaxing holiday in a beautiful part of the country you should consider The Shepherds Cabin @ Plaswye. Located in the picturesque village of Llyswen in the heart of the Wye Valley, the cabin is situated in the grounds of our own home and enjoys a private secluded spot with far reaching views of the Black Mountains and Wye Valley. The cabin offers a level of luxury not normally found in a glamping setting, while still retaining that all important back to basics feel! It has its own garden, an outdoor luxury hot tub from where you can take in the mountain views and stars at night, a fire pit, hammock and bbq. Inside, the cabin is bright and airy with amazing views from every window. Fully insulated and heated by a wood burning stove the cabin couldn’t be cosier. It has its own open plan living area with smart TV and wifi, a double bed with a single bed above, a well equipped kitchen with a gas hob and cooker, a fridge freezer, a table which seats up to four and a bathroom with power shower and flushing toilet! Residents are welcome to roam around our fields and orchard, which amount to 6 acres where our friendly goat billy lives with a small flock of black mountain sheep. There are some great walks direct from the doorstep, such as the Wye Valley walk and the climb immediately behind the cabin up onto Brechfa common from where you get an amazing 360 degree view of the entire area. For keen fishermen we can also offer access to our own private stretch of fishing on the river wye, a famous salmon fishing river and only a short walk away. We do charge a small fee for this. Be it summer or winter we are sure you won’t be disappointed and will leave feeling rested and revived! Please note: if you are looking for friends and family to join you, we also have the ‘Shepherds Carriage’ and ‘Apple House Cottage’ which are also in the grounds and featured on this website.

  • We had a fantastic stay in the Shepherd’s cabin and were made to feel so welcome with the log burner lit when we arrived, fresh eggs, milk, bread and welsh cakes! Richard and Caroline were so helpful, offering great tips on the local area for walks and places to eat. The cabin itself is warm, cosy and finished to a quality standard with everything you would need for a comfortable stay. The hot tub is perfect for relaxing, especially with the great views. The location is brilliant for walks and close to Pen y Fan and Haye on Wye too! We will definitely be back again. Charlie and Ella

  • We absolutely loved staying in the Shepherd's cabin, and appreciated the eggs, milk etc that were there for us on our arrival! Looking out on the sheep each morning was so nice, and the jacuzzi was fantastic! The location only being a 15-20 minute drive from Brecon and the walks up Pen y Fan was very handy too. A very snug little set up, and perfect for a cosy weekend break. We will definitely be back again. Many thanks! Max and Hannah

The Otters Holt Cottage is an outstandingly charming, hand crafted oak frame, nestled in 3 acres of secluded Welsh woodland and meadow. Where you will find an abundance of nature on your doorstep. The cottage is completely off grid, with solar power and natural springs. Inside there is a woodfired stove to cosy up to. An undercover woodfired hot tub and outdoor pizza oven. Just 1 mile outside of Brecon town, it is easy to access with private parking and the Brecon Beacons right on the doorstep.
Our Cottage was made from the local Oak which we hauled from the forest with a team of heavy horses. Alan and his team then framed the timbers using traditional hand tools and techniques. The kitchen includes a gas oven and hob, a small fridge, and all the pots, pans crockery etc that you are likely to need. The bathroom has a hot shower, WC and Morrocan hand basin. The Bedroom has a handmade King size bed, carved out of Welsh Oak, desk space and record player. There are 2 sets of shutters for the bedroom doors so you can choose to snug up or use the glazed morrocan doors to get filterd light or open them up to look directly into the woods. After a hot tub and a wood fired pizza cuddle up to a roaring wood fire with an old time song on the record player and the sound of rain on a tin roof. Heaven!
Brecon is a easy town to navigate it has plenty of shops / pubs /resturants and coffee houses. It has a lovely Cathedral, River front promenade, Theatre by the canal, Cinema and sports centre. The whole area is ideal for outdoor activities. Mountain walks, rock climbing, waterfalls, showcaves, canoe trips and cycling. Just down the road from Brecon you have Llangorse lake for sailing and paddle boats as well as an indoor climbing centre! 20 mins from Brecon is Hay on Wye (The town of books) located under the black mountains this is a very attractve bohemian town well worth exploring.
  • What a find, exceed my expectations in every way. The hut, the hot tub and the space and the isolation just fantastic. I loved everything about this space and will most definitely be back. My dog enjoyed running around in the woods and checking the river out. Thank you Alan and Mary x

    Linda2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely cabin, a real gem in a fantastic location. Very private yet only a mile into town. So many lovely little touches throughout the cabin and the bedroom and bathroom have a beautiful Moroccan influence. We felt at home straight away and enjoyed a relaxing stay in comfort and style. We enjoyed a soak in the hot tub after our days walking in the Black Mountains & river walks which are just a short drive away. Open the bedroom shutters and let the wildlife entertain you! Woodpeckers, cheeky squirrels, birds galore all visit the bird feeders. Every pot, pan and utensil you’ll need is all magically in the small but perfect kitchen. A return visit? Yes please and we’ll be recommending this one to friends and family.

  • Wow. If you’re reading this review when considering whether to book this place or not... just book it. One of the true gems of Air BnB. Alan and Mary have something great going here. Amazing place, great location and just what you need for a long weekened/ week away to relax and recharge.

  • We had such a wonderful stay at the Otter's Holt. The cabin is a beautiful hide away in a gorgeous setting with everything you need to escape and relax. Alan gave us a very warm welcome upon our arrival and explained everything we needed to know, Including how he built the cottage which was really interesting. Facilties were fantastic with thoughtful touches. Can't recommend enough!! Thanks for an amazing stay :)

    Sam2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a lovely stay at the cottage all of the extra toochies made it a special weekend.

    Chris2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Alan's place is a real work of art. The craftsmanship and attention to detail combined with a beautiful location and warm and friendly welcome make it a very special place. Off grid but we both left feeling fully recharged. We were really grateful for the extra special touches for the birthday girl. Thanks Alan. We can't wait to come back again!

    David2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • An amazing stay, so much love and time has gone into making this place a truly lovely place to be. A cosy wood burning fire, hot tub and pizza oven were fantastic and the hosts went out of their way to make us feel welcome, giving us tips on places to visit and how to use everything. Fantastic stay, would definitely recommend!

    Natalie2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Such an amazing find - great, unique place which feels private and secluded yet is only a short journey to Brecon and the wider area. The space is amazing - every little detail is so interesting and the hand carved / handmade elements are really beautiful. So much thought has gone into the building and it’s surrounds. We thoroughly enjoyed the wood fired hottub while the snow/rain/hail was falling outside, and even managed to make some pizzas in the pizza oven. The inside space is cosy and warm and we loved the fact it’s all solar energy, or wood fired. Lots of utensils, essentials etc already provided in the kitchen and even records and games left for use. Unfortunately due to weather we didn’t get out and about much (managed a few beers and a curry in Brecon which was delish!) however the space is perfect for hiding away in the storm and just relaxing. Couldn’t have asked for a better weekend in a storm! Would highly recommend.

There were lots of nice little touches including some unexpected breakfast supplies and the whole place was really clean. It's a pity for us that the WiFi wasn't working as the phone signal in the area was a bit patchy but I'm sure this will be resolved soon. Friendly family we met briefly and lovely cats too! Thank you.

Waun Yscir is perfectly situated in the tranquil Yscir valley, just a 15 minute drive from the pretty market town of Brecon. Waun Yscir was lovingly converted in 2009 to a very high standard. Located on our family farm, away from the hustle and bustle, it’s the ideal place to ‘get away from it all’. You can enjoy panoramic views of the countryside whilst relaxing in the hot tub and enjoy your time admiring the stars in our clear skies. There's no better place to be in the world than here.
Waun Yscir is fully equipped with everything you need for a peaceful and restorative break. There is a fantastic king size bed in the master bedroom, where you can enjoy views of the surrounding countryside without even getting out of bed! The woodburner is a great bonus on those cold winter nights when you can draw the curtains and snuggle up in front of a warm fire. Alternatively a dip in our open air hot tub is sure to warm the cockles! There are some lovely walks right on the doorstep which are much less frequented than the central Beacons' footpaths.
Waun Yscir enjoys a truly fantastic location in completely unspoilt countryside. Brecon, Builth Wells and the Eppynt hills are a stone's throw from here. Please note that if it snows we can be completely inaccessible so please keep an eye on the weather during the winter. We have a tractor and a 4x4 just down the road so we can always help if needed.
  • Great cottage tucked out of the way. Be sure to get an ice cream from the ice cream bar in Brecon. Bring flip flops!

  • The house is set in beautiful rural Wales, with stunning views. The property was immaculate and the grounds very well kept. Great directions from the host which certainly made it much easier to find along with super easy check in. We would highly recommend this little escape from the rat race and would certainly consider returning in the future!

  • Just back from a wonderful long weekend. Becky and Sean were great hosts, even managing to save our Sainsburys food order from heading back to the depot when we were late arriving! The house was beautifully clean and cosy, the log burner and hot tub were the icing on the cake. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip to the Brecons! Thank you Becky and Sean x

Enter the cottage via an arch, courtyard garden, with gothic door and exposed beams to find modern comforts such as underfloor heating and Eames chairs and a super king sleigh bed. The wood burner makes winter nights a cosy affair.
The Gardener’s Bothy dates back to the early 1800’s and has now been lovingly restored ensuring the charm and character of this period cottage have not been lost. Original exposed beams and Gothic door reflect a different time and contrast well with the modern interior design, which uses subtle tones of green reflecting the natural surroundings. The kitchen is fully equipped, with a stunning granite work surface and the original flag stone floors which flow from the kitchen into the sitting room. Underfloor heating ensures the Bothy is warm and cosy whatever the weather. In the sitting room there is a comfortable sofa, two arm chairs, a woollen rug, small tables and a Charnwood wood burning stove, the colour of which is in keeping with the subtle tones of the room. There are numerous books including those of local interest and those with a gardening theme. There is a dining table with Eames chairs. The dining table extends to accommodate six people, if required. French windows lead out to a sitting area with a bistro table and chairs, whilst the kitchen door opens onto the second patio with table and chairs to seat six. Upstairs are two bedrooms. In the first the dark wood of the ceiling timbers is reflected in the beautiful polished wood of the super-king sleigh bed on which, to compliment the delicate greens, delicate shades of purple and lilac are introduced in the cover and cushions. In the second bedroom the colours are of gentler shades, with two attractive brass and cream twin beds and tones of green in the covers. The Bothy is set in beautiful surroundings, with both views through the beech copse to the park and woodland beyond and views to the outer courtyard.
From the cottage door, walk towards the beech copse and meadow for a stroll along the canal or up onto the peaks of the Brecon Beacons. Within walking distance are a number of local dog friendly pubs serving great food and a number of award winning restaurants are reachable within 30 minutes.

  • The Bothy is so comfortable and well equipped. It is beautifully furnished and in a lovely setting. Wonderful whatever the weather, with great hosts.

    Sian2018-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • The Bothy is a stylishly designed and wonderfully well appointed cottage. The kitchen is exceptionally well equipped - better than home! We really enjoyed having the wood burning stove with the wet Welsh weather. It is an idyllic location for exploring the Brecon hills. Peter also provided us with useful local knowledge on walks, restaurants and even good take aways. The Bothy is meticulously maintained and Peter and his wife are thoughtful hosts: witness the fresh flowers and Easter eggs we found on arrival for our stay over Easter weekend. A class apart.

By the way meal at Three horseshoe inn recommended by Peter was amazing also its dog friendly pub so our dog Max didn’t feel left out. The cottage itself was absolutely amazing we stayed at The Dairy. The Dairy is very lovely tastefully decorated, spotlessly clean cottage will everything you ever need or want! I loved fresh flowers in the house is very nice touch. Overall cottage just felt loved. We felt totally at home there. But best thing for us was huge enclosed garden. Max absolutely loved it. We were so lucky with weather and spent most of the time outside it was so nice to have a meal outside and have a glass or two under the stars. Stunning! We will be back soon

  • Very quaint and cosy accommodation, fantastic location and a very welcoming host. Great place to stay for walking and dogs. My expectations were far exceeded.

    Simon2018-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at The Dairy over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend and were greeted by Peter, who showed us to the cottage and provided some really helpful tips and ideas of what we could do in and around Ty Mawr. The Dairy was very well equipped, the kitchen had everything! Plus some essentials, which were unexpected but very much appreciated. The amenities generally were excellent and the cottage was very comfortable, with lovely décor. The garden is unexpectedly large, with so much space for our little dog to run around in. We could imagine with some sunnier weather it would have been perfect to spend time in. I could not fault the accommodation and would definitely look to stay here again to further explore Brecon Beacons. The location was perfect to drive to some of the walks and there was lots of information in the guest pack on things to do around the area. I would not hesitate to recommend booking to stay at The Diary, it does not disappoint and will definitely be back to stay again! Peter was a very welcoming host and communication was excellent throughout.

The old Granary is part of the 300 year old stone buildings that formed The Held Farm. The property is about 2 miles from the centre of Brecon Town but is set in a tranquil countryside setting. We are surrounded on all sides by open farmland and countryside.
The Granary Cottage has been completely refurbished in January 2019. Upstairs is the King Sized bed with wardrobes and dressing table along with a shower room with large shower tray, WC and basin. There are also a couple of easy chairs on the landing for reading. Downstairs is open plan kitchen, diner, lounge. The kitchen has oven, induction hobs, full height fridge and freezer, dishwasher plus crockery and utensils. There is also a Nespresso Coffee machine. There is a dining table and the Flat Screen TV has Satellite TV channels. There is also a DVD Player and CD Stereo. Outside is a patio area for your sole use together with table and chairs. We own the field to the back of the cottage so if you want to take a picnic to enjoy the views, feel free. The cottage is great for two but there is also a small single bedroom with 3ft single bed. In the small bedroom there are some hanging hooks and bedside drawer but no wardrobe.
The cottage is part of a small quiet hamlet called Cantref (or Cefn Cantref) about 2 miles up the hill from Brecon town. The old farm buildings and barns comprise three private holiday cottages (including The Granary) and our home. Guests can walk to town either down the road or via a footpath (Walking boots recommended). Brecon town has many pubs, restaurants, cinema, theatre, canal and three rivers.

  • Me and my boyfriend visited the cottage for a weekend break and it was perfect! Spotlessly clean and very cosy. A perfect location for exploring the Brecon's; would highly recommend visiting the waterfall country! There is also a shop and petrol station just a few minutes away which is very handy! Hosts were superb, friendly, great communication and the welcome basket on arrival was a lovely touch.

    Emma2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • Idyllic setting, loved watching the sheep in the adjacent pasture. The lodging was so well done, a perfect balance of modern convenience and rustic charm. Beds were comfortable, linens were nice quality, well equipped kitchen. Outdoor areas were wonderfully landscaped. Rob is a wonderful host, lots on information on things to do, including laminated trail maps, brochures and a lovely welcome basket which was greatly appreciated after a long day of travel so we didn't have to run right out for groceries. It was a cozy retreat at the end of each day. Plenty of room, a selection of books, games, music and movies provided if you want spend a day cocooning. Loved that they use bio-fuel for heating-it was very comfortable even in rainy December. People in the town of Brecon were also warm and welcoming, and there was a surprising amount of things to do locally given that we were in the off-season. The Nepalese restaurant was wonderful. Book today-You wont be disappointed.

Even at first glance you can tell that Rosemary put a lot of love and care into making it the perfect place to stay for anyone who wants to explore the beautiful Brecon Beacons National Park. The location is amazing with plenty of walks nearby, and the views from the patio and windows are stunning. The cottage itself is very clean and has everything you need. It's tastefully done with lots of little extras that make it super homely and cosy. The bird feeder on the patio, with all the lovely blue and coal tits and sparrows, was also a lovely touch. I also want to thank Rosemary for being such a great host. She was always really quick to respond to my messages and helped me with any queries I had. She also provided a folder with a lot of information about the area, walks and hiking routes, etc.., which was really helpful. All in all we had an amazing holiday and we will definitely be back!

  • Not only is Rosemary’s place immaculate, it’s nestled in the most stunning location with incredible views of the Brecon Beacons. A fantastically detailed book is also provided containing information for both walks from the cottage door, in addition to slightly further afield in the Beacons. There’s also plenty of advice for places to visit and things to do. My wife and I spent our third wedding anniversary here. We’re already planning to come back for our fourth!

Very quiet and convenient location on bus route halfways between Brecon city and book town Hay-on-Wye. Chaotic household (haven't managed to get on top of clutter), basic accommodation (mattress on the floor of my therapy room), shared bathroom and living room - not much privacy but comfortable enough, if you want to be out and about around Brecon.
the room is my therapy room. No door, only a bamboo blind / curtain, so cannot be locked. Thin walls (it's a Park Home, basically made from hardboard and wood). Might need the room occasionally for therapies.
retirement park homes, very quiet (no parties or loud music please, no children).
  • Cosy place to sleep with a hot shower and great proximity to the Brecon beacons. Wynona is a kind and welcoming host :)

  • I recommend Wynona's place, who will make you feel welcome and will be helpful with information about the area.

  • The pledge was as described and Wynona was a warm and welcoming host. Very much a lived in place where I was made to feel very welcome.

  • A very good place to stay for those targetting lower budget. The location is good with Brecon Beacons, Langrose lake and other nice places not too far. And Wynona is warm and energetic person, imagine, even dancing Zumba at her age. And really nice to talk to. Would recommend the place for others, as well as planning to come back myself.

    Victoria2019-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • This is an excellent place to stay. Sparkling clean, full of character and some very nice touches that made us feel welcome; a place of generous hospitality (e.g. fresh eggs, bread and milk which made our first breakfast a breeze). The house is very conveniently set out - large kitchen-diner (with every needed item at hand). The sitting room was carefully set out in such a way as to encourage conversation. We were visited by friends both evenings for dinner and wine, and the set up encouraged friendly conversation and hospitality. Plenty of books and games to keep you occupied and the garden was an oasis of calm. This was our first Airbnb and we were delighted.

    Gareth2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Great host, great place and great location! Carol is superb. The cottage has everything that we needed and it was very clean. Only 2.5 miles to Brecon, 15 minutes drive to Pen-y-fan and not far from everything else. Highly recommended.

  • Our stay at Jay Cottage was amazing and one of our best experiences of staying in cottage accommodation. We're a family of 4 (2 adults and two daughters 15 and 12) and Jay Cottage suited us perfectly, we each had our own space for quiet times but shared areas for eating and catching up. The cottage was spotless and felt warm and inviting from the moment we walked through the door and sorted out who was sleeping where. The open, airy dining room was an amazing place to eat our meals. The Wi-Fi kept us connected with the outside world and the girls with their favourite shows. Carol's communication was spot on, before, during and after our visit. Any question we asked was responded to quickly and Carol had put a lot of effort into pre-empting the questions of people staying with useful welcome notes and sticky notes around the cottage advising on how things worked. Jay Cottage was in a perfect location for us as we have a fairly diverse list of things to do on a holiday. I walked up to the summit of Pen Y Fan from the cottage, we visited the beach at Mumbles, the National Show Caves and lots of local shops and craft places. We were never wanting of an activity to do but if we wanted some peace and quiet and a bit of downtime Llanfrynach is the perfect place for it as there is little traffic and everyone is friendly and welcoming. We felt very much at home during our stay and would recommend it to everyone.

It appears to have been newly decorated and is very comfortable. The little kitchen was very well equipped so that I could cook simple meals and do breakfast every morning. The views from the small living room and bedroom are just beautiful. The sun comes up and shines directly into your bedroom while you look across to the Brecon beacons. Pure magic!

A beautiful barn conversion situated in a remote but accessible location with stunning views and unrivalled walking straight from the front door. Comfortably sleeps a family of four or ideal for couples looking to lose themselves in the wonderful scenery. Whether you want to take advantage of all the activities on offer in the Beacons, or just cosy down in front of the fire with a good book, Holly Tree is the place for you.
Our favourite room is the cosy stone walled living room. After a day's walking, there is nothing like settling down in front of the log burner with a glass of wine! The kitchen diner is well equipped, and you can sit at the table planning your next walk on the full size OS wall map. Upstairs is a lovely twin room which is great for the kids, while you relax in the double looking out over the valley.
Holly Tree is all about the walking - either a short walk across the fields to the pub, or a full day up exploring the hills. You could spend a week exploring without ever moving your car from the car-park! Of course the Beacons has loads more to offer, including charming market towns like Crickhowell, Talgarth and Brecon, spectacular waterfalls, castles, roman remains and all sorts of activities like canoeing, biking, horseriding etc.

The Cottage is a luxury 5 star cottage designed just for couples set in the grounds of a Grade 2* Georgian Mansion The Cottage was converted from the original range in the 1940’s to provide a house for the estate workers. The well-equipped kitchen, with its granite worktops, is a very pleasant environment in which to prepare the perfect holiday meal. The impressive fully tiled bathroom has a basin, bath, shower and separate toilet - there is a second cloakroom downstairs. The Cottage has a wonderfully sunny aspect set within the inner courtyard.
The Cottage is in a beautiful setting. With walks from the cottage door up onto the peaks of the Brecon Beacons or strolling along the canal there are walks for all abilities. And after an energetic day, or a day curled up in front of the roaring log fire a 5 minute walk will take you to an excellent village pub and restaurant The White Swan Inn. The Cottage is set on the outskirts of the pretty village of Llanfrynach and offers peace and tranquility yet within easy access to pubs, restaurants and local walks.
  • Beautifully decorated cottage with a luxury feel in an amazing location. Peter was helpful and welcoming and the cottage was clean with a beautiful flower arrangement of local flowers and the kitchen had everything we needed. We went for walks in the Brecon Beacons from the doorstep and you can also get onto the canal easily from there and there's a useful local bus service and nice small towns nearby. Would definitely recommend it.

  • Myself and my Husband spent a long weekend in The Cottage for our 1st anniversary. We were absolutely amazed with the place and the location and cannot wait to come back again. Peter and Alexandra have thought of everything, it truly felt like a home away from home and was simply stunning. Attention to detail was absolutely outstanding and we couldn’t think of a single thing that was missing. The location of The Cottage couldn’t be more perfect with easy access to many walks/trails and of course The Peaks (there are some beautiful views of The Peaks as you arrive). There are many options of things to do in the area and numerous restaurants to visit for dinner, but if you don’t want to venture out then The Cottage is perfectly equipped with a cosy log burner. Thank you so much Peter and Alexandra, we’ll definitely be back :)

    Robyn2018-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I stayed at the cottage with our dog and we absolutely loved it. The cottage looks lovely on the photos but it's even more beautiful in real life. It's decorated to a high standard, very cosy, clean and has everything you could possibly need for a self catering holiday. I loved the dressing room! It's just beautiful. The shower is very powerful, great after a long day walking. Note - the bed has a goose feather duvet and pillows, I personally really don't like these as I find them too hot, noisy and uncomfortable, so I struggled to sleep. If I'd known I'd have brought a duvet with me, however my husband slept perfectly fine so it is down to which you prefer. The cottage is in a very quiet location, we stayed here to get away from the fireworks on bonfire night as our dog is terrified of them and we didn't hear a single one. It's so peaceful. Peter, is a fantastic host. He greeted us on arrival and was very welcoming and chatty and gave us some really good information about the local area. If you're looking for a relaxing weekend away in a cosy cottage with beautiful surroundings then this is your place. We couldn't recommend it enough. We can't wait to visit again in the future.

Charles' Cottage is ideally located on a quiet street in the centre of Brecon. Within a 5 minute walk you'll find shops, restaurants, the cinema and theatre. The cottage is a fabulous base for exploring the surrounding countryside which is a mere 5 minute drive away. There is an attractive garden where you can have a BBQ and a glass of bubbly on those long summer evenings. Our guests always tell us how cosy the cottage is and how comfy the beds are.
There are 2 bedrooms in Charles' Cottage. Please note, the single bedroom and bathroom are both accessed through the double bedroom. The kitchen is very well equipped with everything you need to make a delicious meal. The beds are fully made with good quality linen and there are towels for all guests to use. I leave basic essentials like 1 x toilet roll, kitchen roll and cleaning supplies. I also leave a small welcome tray with tea, coffee and Welsh chocolate. The cosy living room has a smart TV, with access to catch up TV, freeview channels and Netflix (your own account is needed). It also has an inbuilt DVD player. There is a good Wifi connection throughout the cottage. There is a shed in the garden which guests can access to store bikes. Please warn me in advance so I can leave you the key. Please note that on-street parking is available but cannot always be guaranteed.
The neighbourhood around Charles Street is very family-oriented. Charles is a quiet street as it is a no-through road and the neighbours are all very friendly.

It is designed for outdoor types, with a 1030pm-7am quiet rule so that guests can get out early if they wish. The owner Paul is an Outdoor Instructor who offers local advice. We are in the Brecon Beacons. Runners can make for Pen-y-fan or you can drive or store your mountain bikes here for easy access to the mountains. There are caves, waterfalls & a canal. This is an awesome place!
The idea of the Townhouse is based on Paul's experience of travelling around the world..we know what is comfortable if basic and welcoming, and what the weary traveller needs! We have just started out after running a successful bushcraft/camping business and aren't promising breakfasts yet but there are tea and coffee making facilities, and you can access the kitchen for cooking. An outdoor shop is within 200 metres and supermarkets within another 100 metres. This means you can arrive in Brecon around 5pm and get that gear and food you haven't had time to organise so you are ready to rock on your weekend. Or get the gear first thing in the morning to then get straight out on the hill! You don't have to be the Outdoor Activity type! There are several festivals each year in the surrounding towns, including Royal Welsh Agricultural Show , the Hay Literary Festival in Hay On Wye and the Green Man Festival in Crickhowell. In Brecon in August there is the Jazz Festival. There is an excellent leisure centre with gym and swimming pool ten minutes walk away! It's uphill so you might not need it by the time you get there! PLEASE NOTE THAT THE 2 BEDS CAN BE PUSHED TOGETHER TO FORM A KING SIZE! please see photos We have declared 2 beds in the room for £25 as the standard price £27 at weekends. You can book the room for just one person. If you add another person, there is a standard additional price . Please also bear in mind that you may be asked to place your sheets on the beds and duvets yourselves and you will be certainly asked to place the sheets when finished with your towel downstairs at the end of your stay. Thanks! We have stated 'potential for noise' in the listing but this is only traffic at peak periods and in the main you will be listening to the birds by the river in the morning and evening! There are relatively steep stairs to your rooms, perhaps 2 flights. You can chill in the garden or cross the river with your coffee if the weather is good. For parking, you may get a place opposite or a short drive away. Bedding is provided with futon type beds (not 'on the floor' see above note). We have priced accordingly...a basic place to rest by the river, close to facilities and the mountains but 'without frills'..certainly comfortable and welcoming, with a guide book library and NO TV! (yes we have wifi!) Getting around More public transport information is available after booking. There is a 40A/39 bus from Hereford where there is a train station There are also buses to link with the famed Mid Wales Train line. The main bus station is 5 mins away Taxis are available, please message me and I’ll arrange one for you
Locally, there are outdoor shops, cafes, pubs, a castle which is now a hotel and a Cathedral with (sometimes!) sunny grounds! ( this is the rain shadow side of the mountains). It is a vibrant Welsh outdoor town.
  • Does exactly what is says on the tin. Great value and Paul is a welcoming friendly host.

  • Paul was a great host with lots of local knowledge and advice on nearby routes for walking/running. Check in was easy as he communicated well beforehand with detailed instructions. The space itself is perfect for outdoorsy types that just want to rest their heads after a day on the hill. You can make your own food and hot drinks too which is ideal. Located super close to the town to pick up food, outdoor kit or a meal. Plenty of restaurants and a cinema just a short walk away. Thanks Paul, hope to stay again soon!

  • Paul is a great host , he responded to messages quickly and provided us with plenty of useful , honest and essential information prior to our arrival . He was also very understanding and flexible with our check in situation which meant we could let ourselves in at a time that suited us . The property is located in a brilliant area , very short walk to two supermarkets and a weatherspoons pub which is great if you’re looking for cheap food and drink! On a clear day you can see the beautiful hills and mountains of the Brecon Beacons as you walk over the river which is opposite to Paul’s property . We travelled by car and had no issues with finding parking just a short walk away from Paul’s, mountain walks as well as waterfall walks are no more than a 30 minute drive away but all driving is a pleasure in this area of wales as it is so beautiful ! Paul has great recommendations on things to do if you are looking for an outdoor/adventurous sort of holiday. Great host and would highly recommend ! Thanks for a great stay

  • Paul's place was exactly as described and great for a place to stay on our cycle tour in the area. Paul gave us clear instructions prior to our arrival and was there to meet us and help us get settled in when we arrived. If you're looking for a basic, no frills place to stay then this is a great choice.

  • Great basic accommodation, good location.

    Eric2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Does exactly what it says on the tin. Clean comfortable and homely.

    Jack2019-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • Paul’s Homestay is about as true to the origins of AirBnB as you can get. But instead of an air bed, you do actually get a mattress (and a very comfy one at that!). His Homestay is functional and exactly what it says on the tin, a rustic homestay where outdoorsy people can come and go from exploring the Brecon Beacons. It’s very similar to mountain huts and is equipped with the basic needs you require, a roof, a bed, a bathroom/shower, kitchen and even a wood burner! He’s a very friendly host too, and I enjoyed chatting to him and hearing about his experiences. This has been one of my most enjoyable and authentic AirBnB experiences!

Penybont Barn is an old converted farm building full of character, with exposed beams and nooks and crannies. Beautiful views of the garden and mountains. It comfortably accommodates up to 4 people, has all mod cons, a private garden that backs on to a charming stream and private parking. It is in short walking distance to two local pubs. Access directly to many walks and rides. The towns of Brecon & Hay on Wye are only short drive away. It is the perfect place to enjoy life at your own pace.
As you enter the property what grabs you is the quirkiness of the barn, the exposed beams, thick walls and charming features. The living quarters are upstairs including a cosy lounge with leather furniture, an electric fire and TV/DVD/streaming options. The fully fitted kitchen has an induction hob, double oven, fridge, freezer, dish washer and washing machine for all your needs. A dining area for six people. The downstairs bedrooms are quiet and cool, a perfect temperature for a good nights sleep. The master bedroom has a king size bed, and the second bedroom has two single beds that can combine into a comfortable double bed. Both have a wardrobe and a chest of drawers and windows that open out on to the brook alongside. The bathroom has a bath and shower which includes a rain option. Bed linen and towels are provided. The private garden has a covered patio area as well as a lawn with chairs and table and parasol, a perfect location on the riverside to sit with and relax with a drink and watch the sun go down. Access to the river is possible but at guests own risk. There is private parking for one car on the driveway in front of the property and for two cars inside the private courtyard. Bicycles can be stored securely at the back of the property.
Llangorse is an amazing village - quiet and quaint but also welcoming and at times buzzing with local activity. There are three pubs in very short walking distance, two in the village and one by the lake, all serving food and each with a quite distinct ambience. Nearby Llangorse lake is a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the surroundings. Penybont Barn is ideally located to explore the Brecon Beacons by bike, on foot or by car.
  • Wonderful home, even better than the pictures! Really quiet town, nearest town 10 mins by car and the lake is just a short walk away. Easy check in and space to park. Would recommend, and more so for those with a car to explore more!

  • J&F's place was the perfect place for our weekend. A 30 second walk to the nearest pub and close to plenty of walks. We visited as we had a running event in Crickhowell which is only a short 20 minute drive away. The Barn was clean, well presented and very inviting. Would definitely come back to visit again. Cheers for having us!

  • A lovely cottage in quiet location but within easy access of the pub.

    Lisa2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent communication from start to end of our trip away, Barn has beautiful characteristics and was easy to find. Would highly recommend staying at this location.

    Lee2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • My family and I had a wonderful stay. The barn had everything we needed and really clean. Communication with Jayne and Filippo was excellent throughout and they even gave us ideas for activities indoors because the weather was so bad. Would definitely recommended!

  • Fantastic property a credit to the owners

    Gordon2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great stay at Penybont Barn. The weather was terrible during our visit and we were so relieved that the barn was so comfortable, clean and warm. Jayne and Filippo answered all texts quickly and were always on hand if we needed anything.

  • The accommodation is a self contained bungalow with all amenities needed and more. Spotlessly clean, amazing Egyptian cotton bedding and perfect for my walks up Pen Y Fan (ten mins drive away). Wifi, Sky Q and all extra luxuries provided, and the kitchen space was brand new and spotless also. Chris & Kara were the perfect hosts, responded to any queries very quickly over text and left me alone to my own devices across the stay. Lots of tips and maps etc. left for you by the hosts and a very simple guide book to the accommodation. It is in the middle of a farm area, so a tad away from civilisation (circa 3miles max), but I actually walked into Sennybridge and back one evening for a few beers and dinner in one of the local pubs. The food was amazing! I will definitely be back! Loved the place!
