  • We love to stay at Riversound, mostly because Jacqui takes such good care of us We do not have to worry about breakfast or sandwich makings. She keeps us full of croissants, toast, tea, yogurt and fresh fruit! The space is lovingly decorated and you go to sleep and wake up to the river outside your door. Lots of pubs within walking or a quick drive. If you are like me, and work full time and want to escape this is a slice of heaven. We moved on to a place in north Wales that is nice with a view. There is such a difference in how I feel coming to Jacqui's home..it is so cozy and delightful.

  • Stunning place, beautiful scenes, cosy and clean! Fully recommend!

    Sophie2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • We needed 2 days of rest and nature. We got more than we needed here. The open fire, the rushing waters and the water fall on your door step cleared away any cobwebs. This is an amazing place to stay. I can not recommend Jacqui and John highly enough.

  • Great space, had breakfast stuff and drink etc there waiting for us. No cooker or hob but the pub was about a minute walk from the house or there were loads of places around if you’ve got a car. It was raining when we were there but it would have been so lovely to sit outside and have breakfast and watch the river. Lots of maps and personal recommendations for things to do when we arrived. We drive to the four waterfalls and did the walk which was amazing but it was a bit of a drive. Definitely need a car if you want to explore. Very pretty views. We had a lovely time.

  • Beautiful cottage, great location. Quick responses with tips on the local area. Amazing extras for special touch. Biscuits, fruit, milk, juice, breakfast condiments, bread, fresh coffee. Made the weekend very special. Even messaged to say not to rush checking out and to take our time. Thanks so much for a lovely stay x

Our rustic shepherd's hut is located on our small family farm just outside of Talybont on Usk in the Brecon Beacons National Park. Wander down to the local pub, head out over the mountains and gaze at the stars (telescope available!). Discover Cymru - chosen as one of the best AirBnBs in Wales! The hut gets it's name from the Welsh for orchard - Y Berllan, as it sits beside our orchard. We also have two other little huts called 'Tor y Foel' and 'Pen y Fan'
Get off-grid in luxury in our shepherds hut. You'll be warm as the hut is fully insulated and contains a wood-burning stove (first basket of logs included, please bring extra with you or purchase from village shop or local garages). The lights and sockets are powered by a solar panel which should be fine for charging phones etc. Cook either on the top of the stove, BBQ grill or gas camping hobs. The double bed has plenty of pillows and a sheet but you'll want to bring your own sleeping bag/s or duvet. There is no water supply to the hut itself but you'll be able to fill a jerrycan (from the wash hut) and top up the canteen. Heat water on the wood burner or gas. The wash hut is located 100m away on the yard. There you'll find the WC and shower.
Quiet countryside with excellent local pubs and restaurants.
  • Great get away. Hut has everything you need and loved the log burner.

    Natalie2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Had a lovely stay at the shepherds hut on a frozen January weekend! The log fire was so toasty and we felt really cosy. Also great location for close pubs and walks.

  • A nice hut away from everything. Accessible via public transport. The hut had everything I needed for my stay and the wash room wasn't far away. It was warm when I got the fire going. It was good to have a gas hob as well to make a cuppa before the fire. Really nice off grid place!

Beautiful converted cottage in the grounds of an historic Victorian country house in rural Wales. Wood-burning stove, Wi-Fi, stunning views of the Black Mountains. Perfect for walkers, cyclists, garden lovers, or horse-riders of all ages. Just 450 yards on a private drive through the estate from a barn which sleeps 8 (see 'Eco-Barn in the Brecon Beacons'). Ideal also for larger gatherings of friends or family.
The cottage is located on a 19th century country house estate of about 10 acres of gardens, lawns and woods. One side of the cottage looks onto a cobbled stable yard, and the other onto its own garden, then beyond that parkland, Llangorse Lake and the Black Mountains. Fabulous restaurants and farm shops are within a short drive as well as the lake, with boating facilities, beautiful walks out of your front door, and great biking trails. An all-around perfect location for a peaceful holiday in rural Wales.
Completely rural idyll - Perfect for those who want to escape the city and drink in the joys of the countryside.
  • Stunning cottage in a stunning part of the world with an ever changing landscape out of the cottage windows. Lovely and cosy during a very wet and cold weekend. Highly recommend to couples and families.

  • The house is incredibly cozy and has everything a you might need in it. David, Carla and their daughter Sally are very attentive and welcoming. I feel like i’m living in the Downtown Abbey world (this house is a smaller version of it) and I’m in awe from the mesmerizing welsh scenery, ancient trees and the amount of sheep around the house. If you are fond of waking up to magical early morning mist, taking long walks through picturesque hills accompanied by bird singing and then returning to a house that looks like it stepped out of BBC series - i highly recommend this place.

    Tatiana2020-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • This is a fabulous cottage in a great location. Amazing walks right from the door and the views unbeatable.

    Sarah2020-01-03T00:00:00Z

  • We had a truly memorable stag at David and Carla’s cottage. It was incredibly easy to communicate with them and the cottage is absolutely beautiful, as is the surrounding countryside. All in all, a wonderful weekend and I would highly recommend!

    Caroline2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • This is the most gorgeous cottage in the most spectacular setting. We had a wonderful week here in November with idyllic, Autumn walks during the day and evenings in the cosy cottage living room beside the fire. Saddlery cottage felt like home away from home from home for us and the hospitality & friendliness from everyone at Treberfydd was the cherry on the top. We will be back without a doubt!

The School Annex is bike and walker friendly with the Taff Trail right on its doorstep. Talybont-on-Usk is a great hub for exploring the Brecon Beacons: walking, cycling, stunning scenery & incredible star gazing right on your doorstep. A detached self-catering holiday cottage, next to the owners home, it's ideal for long weekends, short breaks or longer stays. Whether you aim for the mountains or just want to relax & enjoy the views, you may find 2 nights isn't quite long enough - just saying!
The School Annex is on the edge of the small village of Talybont on Usk, a village in the Brecon Beacons with canal and rivers offering an excellent base for exploring with walking and cycling direct from the garden and incredible star gazing at night. You are only a few minutes walk from the village shop, cafe and post office and two great pubs serving a good range of local food. The School Annex comfortably sleeps four adults or a family of 5 . If a family of 2 adults with children, please note that we don't charge the extra per person per night rate for over 4 people. This is only for extra adults. Bedroom One: the Mezzanine is up some very steep steps so not suitable for children or if you need to get up lots for the loo in the night! You will find one superking bed up here which can be split in to two singles. An occasional single can also be put in this large space if required. There is a large Velux above the bed which means you can relax and star gaze and then close the black out blind with a remote whilst lying in bed. Please view our pictures. Bedroom Two: is downstairs with a double bed and a single bunk bed above it. There is a separate toilet next to this bedroom space. See pictures. Study: we are able to put an occasional single bed in this space if downstairs sleeping is required for more than two adults or children. Please ask if this is an option you want to investigate but note that it wouldn't give complete privacy. Bathroom: this is a good sized bathroom with shower (no bath), toilet and sink. For families with babies we do have a baby bath which fits perfectly inside the shower. Kitchen/Diner: Please note that the large kitchen/diner is separate from the main liveing accommodation but only by a few steps across the courtyard. It is large enough to relax in and has a dart board at the back. Whilst quirky, on the plus side it does eliminate cooking odours from invading the living and sleeping space. It also means that groups can socialise late or get up at different times without disturbing the others! Tea and coffee making facilities are in the living space for a cuppa when you want it. Please view our pictures which include a 3D layout of the accommodation so you can visualise how it is laid out. Cycle Friendly: we are cycle friendly accommodation with a space to lock up bikes and wash them down at the end of a days cycling. Talybont is a Brecon Beacons Mountain Bike hub too so some great rides right from the doorstep! We are also a short car drive to Bike Park Wales. When you come back muddy, there is a washing machine and lots of drying space. Coming in an electric car? We have a type 1 charge station next to your parking space which is fine for an overnight charge. If you need a fast charge then the village hall has a fast charge station and tokens are £5 from the village shop. Easy! Whether you are looking for an activity break, want to visit some of the many places of interest in and around the Brecon Beacons, or just want to take time out and relax, this self catering holiday property offers a high standard of accommodation in a fantastic location. Some useful things to know for your packing! We provide in the kitchen: washing up liquid, T-towels, dish cloths, salt, pepper, cooking oil, cling film, silver foil, kitchen roll, bin bags and a little tea, coffee and sugar to get you going. We don't provide washing powder for the washing machine but do have eco wash balls which work well if you want to give them a go! Here you will also find OS maps of the area and lots of local information. For the bathroom we provide: good quality hair and body shower gel, conditioner, hand soap, towels. In the main accommodation you will also find a mini fridge which will have some milk in it for your complementary teas and coffee. If you forget your slippers there is a box of assorted slippers to choose from and in the winter you will find a hot water bottle on your bed!
The School Annex is in a stunning location in the small rural village of Talybont on Usk but with great local places to eat and drink, all within walking distance. There is easy access out in to the Brecon Beacons and the Taff Trail for walking and cycling. The towns of Brecon, Crickhowell and Abergavenny are within easy reach by car.
  • Clare's place is an absolute gem - with two couples (4 persons total) we felt so wonderfully looked after and comfortable! The location is perfect, as nature lovers we found the proximity to the Talybont reservoir appealing, and we found it an easy drive to the four falls hike, the Red kite feeding site, and a few castles! Thanks so much Clare!

    Lachlan2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Clare’s place was amazing, well-situates for exploring the Brecon Beacons and the house itself has everything you need and more! Very comfy beds and great shower.

  • Great location and all the home comforts you could ask for. The early morning visits from a herd of ponies were a real delight. Will definitely be back!

  • We had an excellent stay! It’s a very well cared for, thoughtful space. Everything you could need and comfortable and cosy. Beautiful garden. A great location too. A real home from home (vs some disappointments I’ve had with air bnb recently! Has restored my faith somewhat!) Would definitely like to return!

    Shanker2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful stay with special appreciation for Clare’s caring attentiveness beginning from the initial communication to the final goodbye on checkout. A lovely peaceful spot with gracious hospitality and delicious pasture-fed eggs from Clare’s chickens.

    Joel2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect stay. I was over thinking the kitchen being away from the main accommodation but in the end it didn’t matter at all and actually it felt good to spend time in the separate kitchen space with the family. Clare was a perfect host and massively over delivered on providing Xmas decorations, supplied extra food shopping on our arrival, helpful tips on things to do. A very nice stay and everyone said they want to come again. Merry Xmas 😀

  • This is a beautiful property set in a cute rural location. Fiona is a lovely host with a wealth of knowledge regarding the surrounding area. I would highly recommended this property, and will hopefully be back soon myself.

  • Great spot in an area that has a lot to offer - walking, cycling, canoeing etc. Fiona's accomodation is a short walk from pubs with good beer and an excellent Travellers Rest restaurant. The accomodation is very cosy and we found the under floor heating a real bonus as the weather was a bit damp on our trip. Walks directly from the house were lovely and you are only a short drive (20 minutes) from some great waterfall walks and Pen-y-fan etc. Lovely accomodation in a great spot.

  • Great stay in ideal location for accessing the best the Brecon Beacons has to offer. Host was very helpful with local tips/areas to visit and always very quick to respond to messages. Highly recommended.

  • The cottage is lovely and cosy, tucked away in a beautiful village with great access to all kinds of walks. There are some local guidebooks in the cottage to look at and a great welcome book with tips of places to go - we recommend the Red Lion pub which is a 5-minute walk into the village. Janine and Kim really went the extra mile to look out for us during our stormy stay, putting down some sandbags overnight to keep the rain out and letting us know if local roads were closed. We had an amazing time and highly recommend staying here!!!

  • This is such a lovely cosy cottage - such a lovely place to come back to after a day exploring , or you could happily spend all day there! So many thoughtful touches, and great communicating with Janine. Would definitely recommend the cottage and also the location as a great base for exploring both the Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains / nearby towns.

  • Mill Cottage is clean, cosy and extremely comfortable. We loved the location at the edge of the village beside the steam and we particularly enjoyed sitting in front of the wood burner in the evenings. We loved it so much that we didn’t want to come home and we would definitely like to come again.

Granary Cottage, originally part of a corn mill and built approximately 150 years ago on the banks of the Nant Cleisfer. Recently lovingly renovated into a contemporary mews style cottage in a peaceful courtyard setting.
The cottage is located in the pretty Welsh village of Llangynidr, which is situated in the beautiful Usk Valley in the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park. The village has 2 pubs; both serving food and with children's play areas. There is also a village shop with a cafe, a garage and a recreational playing field with children's play park and tennis courts. There is a village hall with events including the popular farmer's market on the last Sunday of every month. If you are lucky enough to be staying then, they have some great local produce. From the cottage there is easy access to local walks and cycling. The River Usk and the Brecon and Monmouth Canal both flow through the village. Accommodation comprises: Entrance Hallway - spacious area for storing all of your walking boots, a pushchair or even a couple of bikes Kitchen / Breakfast Room - newly fitted kitchen and appliances; electric double oven with ceramic hob, kettle, toaster, microwave, washing machine, fridge freezer as well as a 'nook' table with benches; the kitchen is well equipped for up to 6 guests. Sitting Room - with 3 windows all with lovely views over the Nant Cleisfer, 2 comfortable sofas and an armchair, 32" LED TV with Freesat and Blu-ray/DVD player. There is also an open fire for cosy, romantic evenings. Spacious Galleried Landing - perfect place to sit and relax in a comfy chair with a book. There is a selection of books provided, including some on the local area and walks. Bedroom 1 - very spacious room with beautiful views over the surrounding countryside and the Nant Cleisfer below. This room sleeps up to 4 in 1 double and 2 single beds. Bedroom 2 - with a window on either side this room is saturated with natural light and has a lovely relaxing feel to it. Wake up to the relaxing sound of the Nant Cleisfer river. Sleeps 2 in a double bed. Bathroom [only accessible from Bedroom 2] - newly fitted bathroom; electric shower over bath, hand basin, wc, heated towel rail and illuminated mirror with shaver point. The ceilings in the cottage are of varying heights, some of the lower ceilings are in the bathroom and bedroom 2. This is an old building and such features add to the charm and quirkiness of the cottage; however, this does mean that the shower is lower on the wall than it may otherwise be and could make it difficult for tall guests to use the shower; although the shower head is detachable. Outside - there is a courtyard to the front of the cottage, which is not fully enclosed. There is a bench and garden furniture provided. Parking - off road parking for one car adjacent to the courtyard, and on road parking for additional vehicles nearby. The Brecon Beacons National Park, with its breath-taking scenery, has so much to offer to those wanting a quiet, relaxing holiday and wishing to get away from it all. However, if you are looking for a holiday full of excitement and adventure:- There are fantastic walks - some straight from the cottage door Wildlife watching Canoeing Horse riding Sailing on nearby Llangorse Lake - which is also a haven for wildlife Caves, forests and waterfalls to explore, the list goes on... The Brecon Beacon National Park is a certified IDA Dark Sky Reserve. On a clear night in the Brecon Beacons, star-gazers are in for a real treat. You may see major constellations, the Milky Way and may be lucky enough to see meteor showers - it is truly magical! There are some great towns nearby full of character and waiting to be explored: Crickhowell (4 miles) is a delightful market town with a wide selection of places to eat. It is the perfect place to chill out, do some shopping and pick up some unique gifts on their independent high street. You may also like to see the castle ruins and the 17th century bridge over the River Usk, with its odd arches; 12 on one side and 13 on the other! Also nearby are the larger market towns of Brecon (10 miles), nestled in the foothills of the Brecon Beacons with its ancient cathedral and annual jazz festival, and Abergavenny (10 miles) where there is an award winning annual food festival that attracts visitors from across the UK and abroad. Further afield you may wish to visit Cardiff (38 miles) for a wider range of shops or to see a show at Wales Millennium Centre in the bay, or Hereford (36 miles) with its Cathedral that contains the fascinating Mappa Mundi, the largest medieval map of the world known to still exist. Granary Cottage is the perfect base for doing all these things and many more. There are also local village shows and festivals, including the Green Man Festival on Glanusk Park every August. This is within walking distance of Llangynidr.
  • A well set up cottage with a surprisingly spacious interior, in which the three of us had a very comfortable stay. Great location, tucked away at the top of the village next to a lively stream but only a short walk from the excellent Red Lion pub; impressively clean and well equipped; good open fire with ample fuel provided. Cottage is exactly as described and has a helpful information folder.

  • A great location for 2 travellers looking for a countryside break. We came over New Year and did lots of exploring of the local area - super walks, castles, pubs, canals, rivers, great views... Would love to come back in summer and try out the kayaking (you can see kayakers going down the river from this bedroom window but it was a little too cold for us to try that in winter)! Thank you Sue and Bryan!

    Sophie2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Sue and Bryan were amazing hosts, they provided us with good directions to the property and an idea of what was around the local area. The studio was so cosy and had everything we needed. The bed was so comfy! Would return in a heartbeat!!

  • What can I say.... I would highly recommend this beautiful accommodation. We had such an amazing time in a beautiful location. The host Jacqui couldn’t accommodate us enough. So much help and information about the area too. Gave us our privacy but was right there if we needed anything. The cabin is so idyllic, romantic and cosy. Our stay was perfect in every way and will definitely be returning!

    Louise2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely loved our stay at the cabin, travelled down with my girlfriend as a birthday surprise and even though the weather was not the best the trip did not disappoint. Cannot fault the cabin, it was very cosy/warm and the sound of the stream in the background was so peaceful. Jacqui was also super helpful from the moment we arrived and provided us with everything we needed. Would love to go back!

    Josh2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • fantastic host and a wonderful cottage with character. Awesome experience

    Steven2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin surpassed my expectations. We were looking for a quiet getaway in the Brecon Beacons and we weren’t disappointed! Jacqui is a wonderful host, who was there to greet us and get the log burner started. In addition to the local guide she provided before arrival, she took the time to talk to us and show us around the local map. The kitchen was stocked with milk, eggs, bread, croissants, cereal etc. And the bathroom was full of toiletries and plenty of towels and blankets. The local pub (coach and horses tavern) is literally a minutes walk away and the food is incredible! We actually arrived on the weekend of Storm Ciara. The cabin is tucked against the bridge so really sheltered from the elements, we were surprised how warm and cosy the cabin was, even without the log burner lit. There are a couple of other properties that sit on the same stretch of river but they are in no way intrusive to the cabin. I honestly didn’t want to leave. Beautiful location, wonderful host and I would love to visit again soon.

    Yasmin2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Truly the best air bnb I have ever stayed in. Immaculately clean, beautiful space and the best hospitality I have ever received. Sitting watching the fire of an evening with the sound of the waterfall in the background and a nice glass of wine by my side will stay with me forever! I had the best nights sleep I’ve ever had and the breakfast selection was such a lovely touch! We hope to stay again soon x

    Jack2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • Gorgeous cabin , well heated, and cosy , jacqui was a wonderful host

    Poppy2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at the cabin, everything you could need in a beautiful surrounding.

    Hannah2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • What can we say, a small piece of paradise. We loved every minute of our stay and wished that we had stayed for longer. The cabin has everything you need for a haven in the hills and the coffee machine and fireplace really helped top off the relaxing experience. The cabin is just a short 15 minute drive to the base of the Beacons with plenty of other walks and adventures right outside the cabin door. Having Llangynidr village just 100 yards away with two pubs and a great village store provided everything we needed while we were there and Jacqui and John's local knowledge and advice made for a wonderful stay. We wouldn't hesitate to return and we hope to very soon.

  • I had a great Christmas break at the Studio! It was a clean, cosy and beautiful space and the perfect location for me to go walking straight from the front door. Keith and his family had decorated the house for my stay which was a lovely touch and they'd also left me some Christmas goodies to enjoy... I would happily return for another visit!

  • Lovely weekend stay at Pregge Mill. Great location being so close to the small town and so close to all of the walking routes also, nice to not have to drive anywhere once we arrived. We got a lovely takeaway from Red Indigo, the Indian that is a 5 minute walk down the road. The cottage is cosy and spacious and had everything we needed! Thanks again.

  • Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here with Ann and Jon, the cottage was beautifully decorated, incredibly warm and comfortable. I can’t think of any improvements to the place, loved it. Would certainly recommend it to others

The cottage makes for a ridiculously convenient location to tackle Table Mountain and is an easy 15 minute stroll to the high street, where there are plenty of independent shops, cafes, bakeries and pubs to explore. Ann and Jon were very responsive and provided lots of local information, and welcomed us with delicious home made bread! Couldn't recommend this place enough!

  • We had a great stay at Geynfa. The house has been wonderfully refurbished. It has a well equipped kitchen and lovely bathroom with a nice hot shower. The fire in the lounge is great on a winters day, and there’s a lovely view of the hills from the dining room. Unfortunately it was a little too cold to enjoy the garden, but on a warm day it would be perfect for alfresco dining. Elizabeth was incredibly helpful and response to any questions. Great choice for a holiday in the Brecon Beacons.

    David2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • This is a fantastic, spacious house in a great location. Elizabeth and Alex sent us - a family of four, with two young children - more than enough information to help set our expectations. What we weren't expecting were the sizes of the rooms and the living areas. There is ample parking on the property, and the garden is large and adjacent to a canal. There's a small grocery store/cafe just down the hill with anything you might need, and two good food options within a ten minute walk. Large hikes you will have to drive to (all very close though), but there is plenty to explore on foot in the area. For our kids, the highlight was definitely the myriad toys and board games to keep them occupied during some of the rainier times. Definitely recommended!

    Eric2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely few days at Gwnfa this February. The weather was pretty dreadful, but we managed to get out for a few walks. It was fab to come back to the house and light the fire, and play some games or watch Netflix. The kitchen has everything we needed, and it was great to arrive to fresh bread and milk in the fridge. The post office just down the road sold most of what we needed, and has a lovely looking cafe in the back. The Red Lion pub up the road was great for food at a good price and has a pool table and darts board. There are so many places to go walking not far from the house, we needed much more time! We would definitely recommend staying here, Elizabeth was so helpful and gave us so much information and things to do in the area.

    Hannah2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • A very cosy and welcoming house in a great location. We walked along the canal towpath to the White Hart in Talybont, where the staff were incredibly friendly, even offering us a lift back as the weather was so horrendous! Elizabeth's communication was exceptional, we were held up due to storm Ciara so she laid the fire for us and pointed us in the right direction for food. The house is beautifully decorated and had everything we needed for a relaxing break, I'm sorry we couldn't stay longer!

    Julia2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great weekend here, an excellent location for exploring the area. My children climbed Pen y Fan whilst my husband & I walked the Four Falls Trail. Very nice meal at the Coach & Horses. Thank you to Elizabeth for being the perfect host, quick with responses & so thoughtful. The cottage was sparkling clean and comfortable. Would definitely recommend and would love to return some time.

    Lisa2020-02-09T00:00:00Z

  • Great location, cost effective, dog friendly. Watch the little jack Russell’s, they will randomly appear in your room which we loved and entertained our ridgeback to no end but all of a sudden appear under your feet! If you’re looking for easy going people and good accommodation I couldn’t recommend it enough.

Cosy, charming, quirky and packed full of character, Pontganol Cottage has been in my family for over 100 years. She's designed to make you feel like you’re in a cross between a boutique hotel and a cosy home-from-home, with everything you need (and more) for a relaxing, restful and restorative break. Sitting in the beautiful Llangynidr village (two pubs, a shop and a cafe) there are gorgeous walks all around, from the canal, to the river and mountains of the Brecon Beacons beyond.
Originally built in 1834, Pontganol was once home to the village policeman and a former lock keeper. Now you can relax with a book and a glass of wine in the cosy living room, cook up a storm in the kitchen, have an alfresco dinner in the garden and go stargazing in an international dark sky reserve! As you open the front door, there's space to rest your tired wellies or boots in the front porch, before you walk through to the living room. It's a cosy room, with squishy sofas, throws and rugs, all in contemporary colours, but where you'll also feel a little nod to the cottage's history with the vintage maps and quarry-tiled floor. On chilly nights you'll love getting a fire going in the woodburner, and a basket of logs and kindling is supplied for each booking. There's a small snug off the living room, home to a double futon that's great for kids as it's got a separate TV with DVD and Wii. Then you'll find the gorgeous fully fitted wooden country-style kitchen and dining area at the back of the cottage. This space overlooks a small wooded area behind the cottage and is great for bird spotting. There's then a back porch/utility space with washing machine/tumble dryer, microwave etc. Upstairs there's a generous landing with a single daybed - the perfect spot for curling up with a book. The main master bedroom has a King size bed complete with high thread count Egyptian cotton bedding, throws and hypoallergenic duvet and pillows, DAB radio, pretty painted chest of drawers, Louis Ghost-style perspex chair and a hanging rail for clothes. The smaller double bedroom at the back of the cottage has a white wooden bed, sloping ceiling with skylight, wooden painted wardrobe and views towards the wood. You'll love the bathroom upstairs too, with its roll top bath (and views of the stars through the velux window above) and separate shower. Outside an enclosed cottage garden wraps all the way around the cottage, with a vegetable garden to one side (guests can help themselves according to what's in season) and a lawned area for relaxing outside a pretty summerhouse on the other side. There's also a not-so-secret BBQ area and off-street parking for two cars. There are deckchairs, and two outside tables with chairs which you're welcome to move around the garden to catch the sun.
Llangynidr is a pretty village in the Brecon Beacons National Park with a shop, cafe and two pubs. The cottage sits in upper Llangynidr, close to the church and the Red Lion pub. There's also tennis courts at the village hall across the road, and the hall hosts a farmer's market on the last Sunday of every month selling delicious local produce and crafts.
  • Wonderful cottage, excellent host. Everything you need for a magical stay. Whether it’s cosy nights in or long country walks, you’ll find everything you need! We can’t wait to come back.

    Sara2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is beautiful, a perfect escape for the post Christmas wind down. It was sparkling and clean, and there were lovely welcoming touches around the house. It was cozy and warm, we loved the log burner! We took our two boys (6 and 4) and they loved the house and the local area. There are plenty of kiddy friendly walks, the playground close by, the lovely cafe in the village and beautiful surroundings to enjoy. My husband and I enjoyed tag-team runs around the village and along the canal. We highly recommend the cottage (although with reservations - only because boosting its profile may mean it’s busy when we want to re-book!) thank you.

    Sevan2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Hilary's place was exactly as described with many thoughtful touches throughout. She has literally thought of everything you may need as a guest. We had a wonderful stay over Christmas, which the cottage was fully decorated for making it feel very homely. The well equipped kitchen made it easy to cook Christmas Dinner for 6 people. Our children (4 and 2) appreciated the toys and games available to play with. I would fully recommend this lovely cottage to anyone.

  • A great cottage in a great location for experiencing everything the beautiful Brecon Beacons has to offer. It had all you could ask for and little extra gestures really made it a perfect stay for us, faultless.

    Xavier2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • It was a pleasure staying in Hilary’s charming cottage. Everything detail from the thoughtful welcome pack, to the comfortable beds and the lovely messages explaining how to use things made the visit thoroughly enjoyable. We felt completely at home. Communication with Hilary was excellent. The cottage is brilliantly located to access all areas of the Brecon Beacons. We had great fun cycling along the canal path in both directions. We especially enjoyed the Four Waterfalls Walk, cycling around the Usk reservoir and a day browsing in the wonderful bookshops in Hay on Wye while we were there. We would certainly recommend this accommodation to others.

  • We very much enjoyed our New Year break in this idyllic property. There were several nice touches included, the highlight being a bottle of mulled wine left for our enjoyment by the excellent hosts. As others have said, the property itself is in a charming spot next to the river and to listen to the water flowing as you drift off to sleep after an evening next to the wood burner is relaxing to say the least. We'd highly recommend staying here if you want to get away from it all for a few days.

  • Lovely cosy well equipped apartment with everything you need for a relaxing stay near the Brecon Beacons. Hilary and Mark could not have been more welcoming, even when we arrived late in the evening. Great local knowledge and tips for walks and pubs nearby. Delicious make your own breakfast with local produce. We will definitely return next time we come to Brecon. Thank you!

  • I felt very welcomed and had a wonderful stay in Hilary's place. The room was spacious, quiet, private and really cosy with a wonderful bed and many special touches. It has direct access to a beautiful garden and I felt so well taken care of... Hilary and her husband truly went out of their way to facilitate my stay. I was really touched! There were many delicious breakfast options in the room, and the location is super convenient with the wonderful farm shop just a few minutes walking away. Also, there is a lot of information on walks and things to do in the room. I felt this was a really happy place that I would love to come back to!

  • We were lucky to have booked a room in Hilary & Mark’s place. The room has great amenities and is fully self-sufficient. The location is very convenient being easy to get to and very close from great hikes, some of which are literary from the doorstep. More importantly, Hilary & Mark are such incredible hosts! They made us feel very welcome and gave us many unique tips and recommendations which allowed us to much better explore the area.

    Anastasia2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • The room was lovely, welcoming and clean. Hilary and her husband were extremely accomodating and gave us some great tips for the local area. The location was beautiful and quiet but also ideally situated to enjoy the best of the surroundings. I would definitely stay again and would highly recommend it to others.

    David2019-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • Hilary is a great host! The room was bright and spacious, and the in-room breakfast was a lovely touch. Fast responses to my request to book and lots of local recommendations for walks! Highly recommend. We’ll be back!

  • We stayed at Mark and Hillary's beautiful house. It was cozy and sparkling clean room. They were very welcoming and had great individual personality. Were very kind enough to book us near by pub for Saturday dinner, gave us best advice for hiking up to Pen Y Fan and had good knowledge regarding nearby areas. The communication was great before and during our stay at theirs. When we do visit wales again, Hillary's place would be our first preference for accommodation. And most of all the bed was comfiest of all 😊

  • We had a lovely weekend and especially enjoyed chatting with Cemaes and Gwen at breakfast both mornings - and Cemaes makes a great cup of coffee! Everything was so clean and the tea and cakes in our room were a great touch! There were kennels available for our doggies when we wanted to go out for dinner. The sitting room was perfect after a long day of exploring. We really enjoyed warming up by the fire.

    Morgan2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • I had a wonderful stay with Gwen and Cemaes. After an excellent walk over the hill, I was able to cuddle up in their snug to do some overdue work and then watch Wales, sadly, lose to France with Gwen and her lovely sister in their amazing kitchen. A lovely breakfast cooked by Camaes the following morning was the perfect end to a lovely stay - I can't wait to go back!

  • You could not ask for a friendlier Welsh experience, in a truly beautiful location! There was a real rustic feel to the farm house and we loved seeing all the family photos and history of the farm around the house. The views of the lake are stunning! We were also lucky enough to meet some of the newborn lambs. The experience just gave us so much more than what we were expecting! There are plenty of pubs with great food nearby and the location was perfect for exploring Brecon (we were only about 20 mins from Pen-Y-Fan). We hope to be visiting again soon!

  • Helen’s place was fantastic and would highly recommend. We were two couples and a dog staying there for a long weekend and found the property spacious, whilst maintaining the cosy feel of a country cottage. Location was perfect for exploring the beacons and property was welcoming and clean. Host more than helpful providing detailed information about arrival and leaving as well as activities and sites in the local area. Very welcoming and flexible around our stay. Went above and beyond. 100% would return in the future. Brilliant for dogs and children alike.

    Will2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great house.

    Karen2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Hellies house is excellent. It is spacious, well equipped and cosy. It really does have everything you could possibly need. The play room was a big hit with the kids and the garden would have been lovely if we'd had the weather for it. Dogs are really well catered for from blankets to put on the sofas to a secure yard area and plenty of great places to walk them from the house. The little touches of welcome snacks, breakfast items and robes were lovely, and much appreciated. There is so much to do from the village and within a short drive. I would definitely recommend the walk up Pen y Fan. It's not too hard going (our 6 and 8 year olds managed it) and well worth the effort. The walk from the house up to Tor y Foel has amazing views. It is a bit of a stomp to get to the top and I would recommend not going up in a gale like we did, but it was still worth almost being blown away. All in all we had a great time. Helen messaged us to check all was well, and was quick to respond to a couple of questions even though she was in Australia. Cannot recommend Hellies house enough, it was perfect for our family of 4 with 3 dogs.

    Karen2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Helen’s place was lovely; very homely. It was very warm and the burner was very powerful. The kitchen was well equipped and Helen left choices of tea and coffee together with bread, milk and croissants...superb and very thoughtful. It’s a beautiful part of the world with lovely walks from the doorstep. Helen is also very very good at communicating; a real super host.

    Rosalind2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! What a beautiful, well equipped, clean home. In a stunning location with lots to do locally if you love walking. The extra touches were really thoughtful.we had a fantastic weekend, it really is a home from home.

    Kayleigh2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • A true home away from home! Helen’s house is comfortable, clean and quiet. The kitchen is well equipped for preparing your own meals and there are so many thoughtful essentials such as milk, bread, tea and coffee. The beds are comfortable and perfect for a night’s sleep after a long day outside. Helen provided quick and detailed responses and was the perfect host - this is probably my best airbnb experience and would definitely recommend it.

    Rory2019-11-24T00:00:00Z

Set at the heart of the beautiful Brecon Beacons National Park, our shepherd's hut is the perfect getaway for two. The hut is practical and cosy, with a wood-burning stove, small gas cooker, and everything you need to get off the grid. Whether you want to read, write and retreat, or get out on foot, bike or canoe amongst the sheep, hills, rivers, canals and forests, our hut makes the ideal escape.
We are a pleasant 10 minute walk from Talybont on Usk where you'll find a village shop, cafe, post office, several great pubs and a bike hire shop. We provide pillows and bed sheets, but you'll need to bring a duvet/sleeping bag and towels (though we can provide these for an extra £5). You'll find the basics in the hut waiting for you: tea, coffee, sugar, milk sachets and of course our apple juice! You'll find beautiful oak details such as window frames, worktop, shelf and cupboard doors. Although there is no running water in the hut, the water dispenser is filled from our spring. A solar panel for lighting and USB charging, small belfast sink, gas hobs and of course the wood-burning stove make this a real back-to-basics gem. One of our other huts was featured on the Welsh Tourist Boards 'Best AirBnBs in Wales', and we think this one is even better! Please be aware that we provide a little firewood to get you started but you will need to bring extra with you or purchase from local shops or garages.
Quiet and peaceful, our 3 huts are spaced out so you can enjoy your privacy.
  • Such a fun place to stay in the beautiful countryside in Wales. The hut was beautifully renovated and had everything you need for a long weekends visit. Lovely touch with the Apple juice from your farm- we loved it so much we bought4 more bottles- thanks!! (Excited to try the gerkins next time). Thanks for a great, easy and care free stay.

  • Would definitely stay again.

    Chris2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful location right by a little stream and surrounded by rolling hills. Very warm and clean bathroom. Delicious apple juice! Perfect for a weekend away from the city.

    Alexa2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing hut. More spacious than expected. The location was spectacular - remote enough for a true escape yet close enough to local pubs and a shop. The hut was extremely cosy and warm when the fire got going. Bed incredibly comfortable. Will return.

    Samantha2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Very cute hut in a field, very well équiped

    Alex2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay in our shepherd's hut, it was peaceful and quiet, but not so remote we couldn't wander to a pub after a day of walking. Once the fire is going the place is lovely and warm all night, and the bed is very very comfortable. The wash room is heated and clean but shared with 3 other huts and quite far away (especially in the middle of the night!) some slippers and wellies to help with the in and out would have been a nice touch. As it is, the place is great, but I felt for the price paid we had to prepare a lot of things ourself (e.g. Bedding, towels, teabags) and had to brave more of the elements than we expected.

    Dafydd2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect location for walkers, hikers, runners and bikers. The Pen y Fan hut was a perfect little getaway haven of peace. Basic, but with all you need for a simple stay... Check the pics and you'll get what you expect. Log burner is great for warming up on a cold November morning and again in the evening after returning from the hills. Just right to put the kettle on it or heat a pan of mulled wine. Take your wellies for the field in the rain and if it's muddy - enjoy it! We went running around the boggy hills and the hut was a welcome return (after a shower of course!). The apple juice produced on site is scrummy too!

    Dan2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a wonderful relaxing stay, going off grid and cosying up by the wood burner. Perfect to just shut off and read books! Hosts were excellent all though we didn’t see or speak to anyone while we were there, we loved the personal touches with apple juice and local tips Brecon Christmas lights switch on. Loved it, thank you!

Jonathan is a lovely host - accommodating, kind and down-to-earth. We had a lovely short stay & a great walk along the river just down the hill from Jonathan's place, where there was lots of birds and gorgeous greenery.

  • I cannot recommend this place enough. Jonathan was a fantastic host who helped me out when I got 2 flat tyres by taking me to a local shop and fitting the replacements. The accommodation itself was extremely nice and I would definitely consider staying here again

  • This is a lovely house in a great location. It is much bigger than a typical two bedroom, and has practically everything you could ask for. The location is perfect for access to the towns, villages, and natural beauty of the Brecon Beacons. We've stayed here twice and I'm sure we'll stay again.

  • This is a lovely, well equipped cottage, which is bigger inside than you'd expect. We stayed in early January, and were really lucky with the weather. There's a selection of walks right out the door, good food nearby in every direction, and the cottage itself has everything you'd want and is lovely and comfortable. Couldn't recommend it any more highly.

  • This is an absolutely wonderful cottage for a small family. The house was clean and well equipped with all the right amenities. It is in a great location to access some wonderful drives and walks in the Beacons, and was warm and cozy during cold nights. The fireplace was great, and the kitchen was modern and had everything we needed to make some delicious meals! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and highly recommend this beautiful little cottage!
