Get back in touch with nature at this re-imagined home in the countryside. The lodge features an expansive all-white interior, a beamed cathedral ceiling, repointed original brick structural pillars, and a spiral staircase to an upper level loft.
The fully equipped kitchen/living-room, with its high ceiling and big glass doors, has a great sense of light and space, but is cosy and warm with underfloor heating, and high insulation for the winter. The big glass doors open out onto a patio, allowing a sense of inside-outside living. The main bedroom is downstairs, as is the superb jacuzzi bath with shower and toilet. Upstairs, on the mezzanine, a lovely double bedroom nestles into the eaves.
Troy Lodge Barn is a very convenient 10 minute walk away from the picturesque town of Monmouth, with a number of shops, amenities, pubs, and restaurants. A little further afield, there are many activities to try plus interesting buildings and dramatic views.
  • I recently stayed here with my partner and our toddler. The host was superb and very thoughtful. Sally left me a message asking if a travel cot/ high chair was needed before we got there. Host set us up nicely with a welcome card, cupcake each and a few things in the fridge including a bottle of prosecco! One downside which wasn't a big problem was that the big doors leading out onto the patio had no curtains/ blinds so not a lot of privacy in the living area. Overall a good stay, would definitely recommend to anyone!

  • Visited with partner & friends for wkend to celebrate 50th Bday & wasn't disappointed. Sally is a lovely host, left cakes & a few welcome things for us, plus Bday card & flowers. Everything about the barn is amazing. Super modern from the lights to the huge Jacuzzi. It has everything you need with little extras from the White Company so smells gorgeous. Would highly recommend to visit. The location is great, very quiet but only a 10min walk to the lovely town of Monmouth. Hope to visit again

  • We arrived on Valentines Day to celebrate our anniversary with some relaxing luxury in the country. The space was perfect and even with storm Dennis threatening to blow us away we had a wonderful time! Sally was a perfect host and we were greeted with a welcome card, flowers, cake and a bottle of bubbly which was a wonderful surprise! The barn is stocked with games and all amenities are provided to make it a home from home! Town was a 3 minute drive and the scenery was beautiful. Would recommend!

  • This place is worth the stay! It’s amazing! Sally went above and beyond to make everything in the place so personal and we could have stayed for a week as it had everything you would need! She has thought of everything! Added bonus having gorgeous white company products and and an amazing hot tub / bath to have a glass of vino and chill or a even let our little one enjoy the bubbles! Can’t wait to stay again in the future! Xx

  • I have been using airbnb for some time, and this has been one of the best I have ever stayed in. The accommodation is very stylish, clean, warm, and modern. It has a well set up smart home system, so you can control the lights and music with amazon alexa. There was a comprehensive book with all the instructions we needed to use all the appliances during our stay. Sally was very warm and welcoming and we felt very well looked after throughout our stay. Would highly recommend!

    Chen2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed for two nights recently and the place was amazing. Sally messaged before hand with all the information needed to find the place and for an easy self check in. If there was any problems they left their number to contact. The location is nice and quiet, and just a 10 minute walk into Monmouth town, and within a 10 minute drive to nice walks such as Symonds yat. Sally's place is beautiful inside, and is nice and clean. Also there is a lovely welcome hamper with a homemade cake! I would definitely recommend.

  • Sally's attention to detail is second to none, from her understanding and communications prior to and post our stay, to the lovely touches that made us feel so welcome. The barn itself is delightful, if only we had been able to stay for longer. We cannot recommend Sally's barn highly enough.

A beautiful house that is full of character. In the middle of Monmouth old town. Quiet yet within a stone's throw of some fabulous pubs, cafes and restaurants. Ideally located for exploring the Wye Valley, Forest of Dean, Brecon Beacons and beyond. The town itself is charming, there are many small shops for browsing or indulgence and a town square in which to sit and watch the world go by. 200 yards up the road from the house is Wiggies bakery, enjoy breakfast here with newly baked bread.
  • Really nice little cottage with lots of ‘oooh I wasn’t expecting that’ moments. What I though was just going to be a standard cottage was much nicer. Really nice decor/ finish and very interesting space. Great VFM and in a good location in the middle of town. Would stay again if in the area.

  • We stayed at the Old Butchers Cottage between Christmas and Newyear. What a gem! The 3 storey property is gorgeous and so so clean. Parking really is not an issue we found free parking just a short walk away but you can park overnight outside the house. Monmouth is a lovely town with plenty of pubs and restaurants within walking distance. Is you like Wetherspoons the Kings Head is a 2 minute walk. Will definitely return.

Gillian is a great host providing homemade bread, eggs, milk, butter, tea & coffee. We were also offered some freshly baked scones which were delicious! There is a friendly pub serving lovely home cooked food a few minutes walk up the road, great after a long journey. We had a lovely weekend & wouldn't hesitate to recommend Rose Cottage to others.

  • Wisteria Cottage is a cosy, comfortable and well equipped cottage. We had a lovely week here; enjoyed eating outside in the courtyard, stargazing in the garden and just relaxing in the cottage. Gill is a friendly and helpful host. Llangrove is a beautiful village with nearby countryside walks and a fantastic local pub! It is well placed for visiting Ross on Wye, Monmouth, Forest of Dean and many more. I would recommend this cottage and hope to return at a later date.

  • Wisteria Cottage is a beautiful converted barn with all the facilities you need. Located in the courtyard of the main house it has access to the garden and eating outside. Situated in the village, it is walkable to the local pub and close to Monmouth and Ross. But what really made our break was the hospitality of Gillian, nothing was too much trouble and the little extras were great. She really had thought of everything and such a lovely lady. We will definitely stay again.

    Linda2019-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • Gillian is a wonderful host - always there with helpful suggestions and local offers that we might be able to take advantage of. She was also respectful and didn't intrude - just right! It's a great location to explore the area, near to the Breacon Beacons and the Forest of Dean.

    Jeannette2019-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • Gillian was a great host, responding promptly to queries with helpful information before we arrived, and providing a smooth check in, with lots of additional thoughtful touches such as a fresh loaf of bread & eggs for us. She made it clear she was happy to be at hand if required but gave us plenty of space & privacy. The cottage had everything we needed & was very comfortable. It's cosy but didn't feel small and there was plenty of outside space which we were told we were welcome to use. It was a good base to use for walks, including Symonds Yat & the Forest of Dean, and there was even a friendly pub a few minutes walk away to provide a rewarding pint after clocking up the miles!

Chesil Bank is set in the stunning countryside just 2miles ( and on a bus route) from the beautiful market town of Monmouth. The Wye valley is on the door step with the rivers Wye and Monnow brilliant for water activities. A hop over the back field will take you to the glorious Buckholt woods, brimming with flora and fauna. This area is renowned for cyclists and we are actually on the John O' Groats to Land's End cycle route!
Our rural working home is perfect for walkers, cyclists and those looking for a warm, friendly and homely atmosphere.
Buckholt is a linear hamlet just two miles on the Hereford road outside Monmouth. The countryside is wonderful- hilly in places! There is a pub a mile along the road. Monmouth is full of history, delightful shops, pubs and cafes with the river running through it.

And some wonderful welcoming touches. And the bed so comfy you will not want to get up! Great pubs around locally and very near to Ross On Wye and Hereford.

  • We stayed at Stef’s place to celebrate my partners birthday and we had such a lovely weekend- when we arrived Stef had left a cake from the local farm shop and candle so we could celebrate, such a lovely personal touch. The accommodation is beautiful with fantastic amenities and the location is excellent- such a short drive away from all the great places to explore in the Wye Valley including Symonds Yat and the Forest of Deane. Thanks so much for a great stay Stef!

    Rebecca2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • My girlfriend and I stayed at Stef’s place last weekend and it was such a lovely getaway. The barn is so cosy, perfectly decorated and spotless. There were so many extra details that make this place so great, including a super comfy bed and a wonderful lemon drizzle cake left by the hosts. Location is great too, tucked away on a farm but only a short drive to Ross on Wye and some truly beautiful walks. All in all, couldn't ask for a nicer spot to spend a relaxed weekend!

    Amir2020-02-24T00:00:00Z

  • Lovely, peaceful stay at the Hay Store. Really comfortable bed! Great location for visiting the surrounding area. Would highly recommend The Red Lion and The Lough Pool for food. Stephanie was a great host.

  • My daughter booked this accommodation for a Birthday present for a weekend. Grove View Barn is situated in a beautiful and quiet location with easy access to surrounding places of interest. The Haystore where we resided was quaint, clean and very homely. This is attached to the main barn with good parking and easy access. Our host Stefanie greeted us with a warm and friendly welcome when she popped in shortly after our arrival. The Haystore is very charismatic and cosy throughout and has all the utilities that you would require for a pleasant stay. The Haystore comprises of a bedroom, walk in shower / ablutions and kitchen, dining and living area. During our stay we visited the Red Lion Pub that is within walking distance or very short drive. The food was excellent and nicely priced, well worth a visit. In the daytime we visited and walked the Sculpture Walk in the Forest of Dean and Goodrich Castle and had a Sunday Roast in the Lion Inn, Trellech. The local Pengethley Garden Centre is also worth a visit. On our return home my wife and I were impressed by the accommodation, friendliness and beautiful surroundings. We intend to return for another weekend. (Chloe's parents)

The cottage is a charming converted smithy barn located within easy access of the Wye Valley and Herefordshire countryside. The cottage has it's own private courtyard where you can relax and enjoy the BBQ and Fire Pit and pick your own figs from the mature fig tree that overhangs the balcony. Easy access to main routes means the cottage is an ideal base for the immediate local area as well as those a little further afield such as Wales.
The cottage has two bed rooms (upstairs), there is also a sofa bed in the main hallway downstairs. The Smithy is a Dog friendly property (court yard is fully enclosed). Parking for 3 cars outside the property. The kitchen is fully equipped with fridge freezer, microwave, cooker, dishwasher and washing machine.
Across the road from the Smithy is the Harewood End Inn pub, which is open Tue - Sunday, they have an extensive menu and will do take away food as well! Pool table and beer garden (the bar area is dog friendly).
  • Very comfy and stylish cottage. Great pub over the road too.

  • Really lovely property, stylish and yet full of character. Very helpful hosts, will definitely come back.

  • What can I say - an outstanding Airbnb stay and host from start to finish. The photos don’t do justice for the size and space of the cottage and it is beautifully decorated. Rachel was an incredible host from start to finish. Very communicative, quick to respond and great at going that extra mile. The little touches of amenities in the house like fresh bread, eggs, milk etc were a welcome addition. One of the best Airbnb’s we’ve stayed in as a family!

    Bethan2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place, cute space, garden area, nice pub over the road.

    Michelle2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Rachel’s cottage is fab - a great blend of character decor and great amenities - kitchen and bathroom are brand new and amazing, while the lounge and bedrooms are all low ceilings and beams. Rachel is a wonderful host - responsive, thoughtful and helpful. We plan to make this a regular thing 👍🏻

  • We have just spent 2 days at The Smithy Cottage which is set in a lovely, peaceful location about 15 minutes from Ross on Wye and Monmouth. The space is ideal for 2-4 people with good sized bedrooms and living/dining area. The cottage is cosy and very well presented with all the amenities you need. Sarah is a great host and was available to answer any questions we had. This was our second visit to the area and would be our first choice of accommodation for any future stays. A little gem! Decorated to a high standard. We would highly recommend.

  • Will stay again

    Emma2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • The Smithy was very comfortable, so clean and in a beautiful location. We felt very at home for the weekend. The kids and dog loved the garden and there was plenty to do within easy reach. Sarah made us very welcome with treats for both humans and the dog. We can’t wait to come back for another visit.

    Hannah2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • The Smithy is a great cottage for exploring the Forest of Dean and Symonds Yat. The cottage is sparkly clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. Maps and guidebooks were available which was helpful. Thanks Sarah.

This deceptively spacious Annexe has a kitchen area with a fridge, cooker, hob, toaster, kettle, microwave and enough utensils to make meals. With a shower and loo, the Annexe has its own heating so is quite cosy and comfortable. An ideal location for short breaks whether you wish to be active or just enjoy the peace and quiet and spectacular views. The River Wye is just a 10 min walk away and the Forest of Dean a short distance beyond. We supply all bedding and towels so you can travel light.
The Annexe is at the end of a single track road (with passing places) and the accommodation is reached via external stairs Rocklands Annexe is at the top of the hill overlooking the Wye valley and so the downhill walk (or drive) to reach the river will inevitably mean an uphill return! Three good Inns serve excellent food on the West side of the river with either a direct short ferry or a pleasant riverside walk to the Biblins footbridge leading you to more Inns and good eating on the East side of Symonds Yat
Rocklands Annexe is in an ideal location overlooking the River Wye and the Forest of Dean. The area is famous for its diversity of walking, running and cycling trails or for the more adventurous - local climbing Canoeing on River Wye is a very popular pursuit - with many local companies providing Canoe Hire and tuition. Most will transport you to a safe launch point at the start of a part or full day's expedition which can be taken leisurely or at a pace to suit yourselves
  • The views are amazing from the room, I can’t recommend this place enough!

    Chris2019-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • What a view! Excellent space. Private and everything you need including tips of the local area. Definitely recommend. And lovely hosts too. Thanks.

    Joseph2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • The Annexe was lovely and the view to wake up to is absolutely stunning. Martin and Jude were great, attentive hosts who really made an effort to make everything perfect and that we made the most being in Symonds Yat. Would definitely recommend and we can't wait to come back!

    Charlotte2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Many thanks Martin & Jude for being such great hosts. Rocklands Annexe was the perfect place for a much needed break. A warm, comfortable and relaxing stay which ticked all the boxes. Stunning views of the Wye Valley offered a small glimpse of heaven. We couldn't have asked for more.

    Jon2019-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • A stunning annex in a perfect setting. The walk down to Symonds Yat is not for the faint hearted, but the views make it so worth it. Martin and Judy had thought of everything and we had the best weekend. Definitely recommend!

    Cara2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Exceptional hosts and a truly wonderful place to stay. The weather was atrocious when we stayed but the Annexe was so cosy and the view was so stunning it was hard to leave anyway! So much thought has gone into this place and Martin & Judy were so welcoming and helpful. We look forward to returning in (hopefully) better weather!

    Jemma2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • We were delighted with every aspect of Rocklands. It's an absolutely beautiful annexe. Jude and Martin are great hosts, quick to correspond and very welcoming when we arrived. Waking up to such an incredible vista took our breath away and the location allowed us to explore an area of the river Wye that was wonderfully unspoilt. If you choose to eat out the local hostelries offer a good standard of food and drink; you get a really good workout on the way back uphill to the annexe!

    Sara2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you so much Martin and Judy! We both had a lovely stay. All the extras and thoughtful touches made it very special. Would love to come back again.

Tucked away in the woods, Sacred Tree Spirit is a beautifully quirky escape from the stresses of modern life. Jon is a sound therapy practitioner and craftsman, so you could have a relaxing sound session or learn to make a spoon during your stay. There are all manner of interesting details in the house and in the grounds, a fire pit and wood fired spa pool are amongst them. A sculpture trail is an upcoming project. This unique place to stay might interest someone ready to rekindle creativity.
  • Jon and Michelle were exceptional hosts. They made us feel welcome, guided us to the pub and local caves and made the most delicious pancakes. We would highly recommend a stay here.

  • Such a beautiful retreat in the woods! Quiet and close to nature, the surrounding area is stunning and great for walking around the valley. Great pubs by the river too that do lovely food!

    Kylan2019-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Jon’s place is a fantastic, peaceful woodland retreat! Exactly as advertised. Perfect for a relaxing getaway or adventure in the Wye valley. Just a short walk away from many of the hiking trails that run all the way along the river and right next to some excellent pubs in Symonds Yat. The location couldn’t be any more perfect. Jon was a fantastic host during my stay. He even drew a detailed map to help me with my walk to the pub on the first day. I would highly recommend staying here and have already planned to go back myself!

    Andrew2019-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful, quirky woodland retreat. There really is no place quite like it. Jon is incredibly helpful and friendly and has great knowledge of the local area and the best places to walk in the surrounding woods. He and his partner went out of their way to accommodate me at short notice and make me welcome. Home cooked meals are offered for an extra small fee: home from home! But of a magic place really. Would definitely visit again.

Granton Coach House in Goodrich is in the grounds of our house in a quiet part of the village. Accommodation for 2 people is on the first floor of the building. Many original features have been retained and it's very well equipped to make your stay comfortable. A home from home! We like to welcome guests personally so can offer advice on places to visit, places to dine. There's a wealth of info/leaflets on local walks, cycle and canoe hire etc. The Wye Valley is beautiful at all times of year.
We renovated the coach house with an aim to transform it into an attractive living space for our guests to relax in and enjoy. Several original features still are evident such as the floor and the beams. At one time the coach house had been used by a governess to a young girl living in the main house. We are lucky enough to know a lot of history of the property and have photos depicting that time and these are displayed by the dining area. There is an open plan well equipped kitchen, living, dining space and a bedroom with a super-king bed, wardrobe with hanging and shelf space. A hairdryer and a fan are also provided. The ensuite shower/WC is roomy and the vanity unit has cupboard space. There is a cosy wood-burner in the lounge and central heating throughout. The washing machine and iron and ironing board is in the utility room just off the veranda. The veranda is a perfect place to sit and listen to birdsong. Apart from the TV with Freeview, there are a few board and card games. WIFI is available for our guests to use in the property. All bed linen is fine Egyptian cotton and is provided as well as hand and bath white fluffy towels.Tea towels, dish cloths, paper towels etc are also in the kitchen.
The Wye Valley is set within an area of outstanding natural beauty. Goodrich is a lovely village conveniently situated between Ross on Wye (just off the M50) and Monmouth just off the A40 and so is ideally placed for visiting the The Forest of Dean, The Brecon Beacons, including Hay on Wye (famous for its literary festival), Abergaenny (famous for its food festival) ,The Malvern Hills (famous for RHS Flower Shows), Hereford, Gloucester, Cheltenham, Cardiff and Bristol etc.
  • A lovely, well appointed place for 2 people, with en suite bath room , with large comfortable living room / kitchen area which provided ample cooking equipment and space. A small patio with BBQ is also available for when the weather is more appropriate than we had. Although Liz was away during our stay, she made sure someone was available to provide anything we needed. Ruth and I would highly recommend The Coach House, and will be looking to return in the future

Our hosts kindly left some delicious fresh eggs and fruit and they provide much interesting and useful local information. It is a quiet location but with easy access to the lovely Wye Valley. The food at the local pub, The Hostelrie, was excellent. So much to enjoy on your doorstep

  • The Coach house is a real home from home. It’s clean, pretty and everything has been thought of. You’ll want for nothing. There’s parking right outside, access on arrival was easy, the bed was huge and super comfortable, nice shower and plenty of hot water. We were given some eggs and fresh fruit too which was lovely. Goodrich itself is very well situated for exploring the Wye Valley. Would highly recommend the Coach House.

Pod's Place is a quaint,Grade Two listed little cottage in the historic part of Monmouth (voted best place to live in Wales) and is ideally situated to explore this area. The cottage dates back to the 1600s but has been restored to a very high standard throughout. We welcome pets and there is a safe, walled, courtyard with an outside dining area. We provide a welcome basket with bread, milk, cereals, butter, tea and coffee. Of course toiletries, bed linen and towels are also provided.
Pod's Place is very quirky, and has been lovingly restored. It has a very well appointed separate kitchen, a living room with wood burner, bathroom, two beamed, double bedrooms and one single room (all with wardrobes). We are completely flexible over dates, however there is a minimum stay of two nights ( during holiday periods it increases to 3 days). We have free WiFi, and there is a TV. Central heating is installed throughout the house as well as a charming wood burning. The kitchen, with dishwasher, is fully equipped and has everything you could need including a Nespresso coffee machine, and tea and coffee is always supplied. We provide high quality towels, bed linen and toiletries. There is a washing machine, tumble dryer, iron and ironing board if you should need it. There is always a box of logs next to the wood burner, but if you use any additional bags - please leave £5.00 / bag on the mantelpiece. If you run out of logs give us a ring on 07525399136 and we will drop some down. We welcome dogs and are close to no end of interesting walks (and although dogs are always welcome we ask that they stay downstairs and not on the furniture) . In Monmouth, which is a short, level walk away. there are a number of restaurants and pubs full of character, together with supermarkets and lots of individual little shops, including award winning butchers and an amazing greengrocers. We are ideally positioned for parents visiting children in the Haberdashers schools being right next to the Girls' school and a short walk from the Boys' school.
  • Pod’s Place is only a 10 minute walk from town which was fabulous. The cottage was much bigger than expected... the living room has a very toasty wood burner and the spotless Kitchen has an amazing milk frother which gives you a shop worthy cuppa. Everything you need for a short break. Carl was a thoughtful host, thanks Carl.

It is also centrally located to many wonderful attractions and lovely country walks is the stunning Wye River Valley. Carl has fully updated and restored this cozy historic flat. We will definitely stay there again if we pass that way.

  • We absolutely loved our stay at Pod's Place. The house has been beautifully and tastefully updated, including a fantastic kitchen. Monmouth is a great place to explore and we enjoyed several fabulous local walks in the Wye Valley and Offa's Dyke (including some excellent beer afterwards!). It's worth noting that the stairs to the third bedroom on the top floor are quite narrow and winding - our less mobile relatives found it a little challenging.

Langstone is a very quiet hamlet, with only a handful of houses scattered around. Neighbouring Langstone Court, a 16th Century country house, is open during the summer months on select days. Nearby Whitchurch has a charming village shop and café where you can have a leisurely Sunday breakfast or pick up freshly baked bread and croissants. There are a number of wonderful country pubs in the surrounding area, offering outstanding cuisine.
  • We have had an amazing week’s stay here. The Studio is so relaxing and comfortable, stylish and well situated. Views of the garden and watching all the birds really add to the pleasure of being there. We would recommend this without reservation, and hope to return.

  • Brookend is a beautiful little bungalow, in an idyllic setting. If you are looking for a relaxing break in lovely surroundings then this is the ideal place. Ingrid is a lovely host, not at all intrusive, and very welcoming. The bungalow is spotlessly clean and beautifully furnished, the bed is very comfortable and made for a great night's sleep. Ideally situated for visiting

  • We have just come home from the most amazing stay at Ingrid's studio. The space is beautifully decorated, stylish with thoughtful touches & immaculately clean. There is everything you could possibly need for a home away from home and we enjoyed an evening out in the local area as much as we enjoyed a night in, cooking and taking in the peace of the surroundings. Ingrid was an exceptional host who was incredibly welcoming, but also gave us space to enjoy our stay. We honestly couldn't recommend the studio and the area enough. We wish we didn't have to tell anyone in case it gets too popular & we can't book a return trip! Thanks again, Ingrid.

  • I spent 4 nights at Kate’s on a work trip. The room and bathroom were spotlessly clean. It was great to have my own bathroom and the room was perfectly quiet. It met my needs perfectly and I won’t hesitate to stay there again.

  • We stayed in Monmouth over night. Lovely town. Great pubs and a superb Italian restaurant. The room in Kate's bungalow was stylishly decorated including a very comfortable bed and we could use the bathroom (with in-bath shower) across the hallway. Tea and coffee and a kettle in the room. Less than 10 minutes walk into town. Good value. If we need to go to Monmouth again, Kate's place would be my first choice.

Our place is thoroughly cleaned between visits. Surfaces are wiped down with anti-bacterial cleanser. Charming converted stable with private entrance via an old (uneven) cobbled courtyard. Easy walking distance to centre of Monmouth. A self-contained house consisting of sitting/dining room with small kitchen area (including fridge, hob, sink & microwave). Double doors onto a pretty terrace. Shower room with toilet. A narrow spiral staircase leads to a large bedroom with double bed.
Dating back to the 19th century, there are many original features within the stable such as low beams! Also a narrow spiral staircase for access to the bedroom - therefore we are not suitable for disabled I am afraid. The bathroom has shower only. If you want to use the sofa-bed please order for 3 guests, whether there are three of you or not, as we do make a charge of £10 per night for the sofa-bed, and it will not show the correct price if you only ask for 2 guests.
Monmouth is pretty market town in an area of outstanding natural beauty - situated on the River Wye. There are many local activities available in the area such as walking (we are not far from the Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons), canoeing, cycling and lots of lovely local country pubs.
  • A fab place to stay. I cannot think there can be any nicer place in Monmouth. Great location, many thoughtful touches. Very highly recommended.

The Old Dairy is a cosy , spacious self contained annex to our beautiful Georgian farmhouse. It is situated on our working farm in stunning, peaceful Herefordshire. It is conveniently situated just off the A49 at the end of our farm drive.
The Old Dairy comprises a small entrance hall with coat hanging space and shoe rack leading into the lounge with 2 seater sofa and arm chair. There is a table and 2 chairs under the window so that you can eat your breakfast and enjoy the view. The Old Dairy now has its own internet connection so enjoys reasonable download speed. There is a smart TV in the lounge so that guests can enjoy catch up TV etc. There is a king size bed in the bedroom which will split into 2 x 3' single beds if required. The bathroom has a walk in shower and the whole property has under floor heating which makes it very cosy! The fully equipped kitchen allows you to be completely self sufficient if you wish to cook for yourselves. The accommodation is on one level and is suitable for those with mobility issues.
The farm is situated in beautiful countryside. Pengethley Park, which is National Trust land, is accessed directly from the farm and is a lovely place to walk. Our sheep and cattle graze there and the ancient church of St. Dubricius nestles at the bottom of the park. The River Wye is a short walk of 3 miles & you can take a pit stop at The Lough Pool Inn should you need refreshments. The Red Lion is a short walk away & provides good pub food. The Yew Tree Inn at Peterstow is another good watering hole with home made food from Friday to Sunday. They also have live music on most Friday nights. The Welsh borders are a treasure trove of castles, gardens & National Trust properties with something for everyone. The beautiful Forest of Dean is a short drive away & I can recommend tea at The Speech House Hotel. The market town of Monmouth is only 10 miles from the farm & has an interesting selection of shops, cafes & restaurants. The Savoy Theatre holds regular showing of films, live music & plays. There is ample on farm parking & safe, secure storage for bikes and canoes if required.
  • We absolutely loved it here. The Old Dairy far exceeded our expectations. A warm welcome from Sue and her husband, personal touches were very much appreciated, the farm was easy to find and in a great location. Would highly recommend it. Our first stay at an Airbnb and the bar has been set extremely high!

    Jo2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • The annex is great, an absolutely perfect space for a couple to spend a weekend. Really cosy and intimate, but more than enough space, lovely condition and a great host.

    Owen2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We came to the forest of dean for the first time and had an amazing stay at the old dairy. The accommodation was very clean and had everything we needed (including great kitchen facilities). Sue was very welcoming and friendly and we felt we could contact her any time during our stay. The location was great and we loved being so close to many of the attractions the forest of dean has to offer. We particularly enjoyed visiting symonds yat rock, may hill and monmouth. There are lots of pubs nearby and it’s easy to get to shops and amenities. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend the old dairy. Thanks Sue!!!

    William2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • We would really recommend the Old Dairy. It was very comfortable and has a well kitted out kitchen. The location is great, it was quiet and lovely to be on the farm. Susan is a fantastic host and provided breakfast too. We stayed with our 14 month old and found it suited us really well. There are lots of activities to do in the area as it is so centrally located in the Wye Valley

  • Such a unique space to spend a few nights. Bear in mind the bed space is small and if you’re tall, like my husband, you’ll find your legs are a little cramped. Lovely and clean. Hosts were lovely and the surrounding area was beautiful.

  • From the start of our trip we were made to feel very welcome. Edward contacted us to let us know when the room was ready incase we wanted to check in early which was very helpful. When we arrived at the barn, there was a welcome hamper full of all tea, coffee and some home made treats which was lovely. Edward popped by to check everything was okay and helped us with the WiFi. As it was New Years he gave us some sparkling wine to toast in the new year. We very much enjoyed our stay and would recommend it.

Really nice extra touches with a welcome basket full of goodies including prosecco, jams, ginger cake, chocolate and even treats for our dog! Although the weather wasn't too good, the paddock next to the main house provided a great space to let the dog run around - thank you! Come enjoy the spectacular River Wye from our comfortable chalet offering wonderful views, great walking, biking and canoeing on your doorstep. We are within easy walking distance of 5 pubs and restaurants. We have everything you might need for a lovely self catering holiday with accommodation for up to 4 people having a double bedroom and two sofa beds. We are next door if you forgot or need anything. Dogs are acceptable with prior arrangement and an extra £5/night/dog. No parties.
The chalet is cozy, comfortable and you feel very connected to the out-of-doors as there are fantastic views from every room. There is a double bedroom and extra sleeping accommodation with a sofa that converts to a single bed and a futon sofa into a double bed. Both are very comfortable. We often sit outside just watching the weather, birds and life pass us by. Guests are welcome to use the flat lawn area in front of the chalet to bask in the sun, enjoy the evening air (in front of and left of the bench in the third picture). For those rainy days, you can curl up and watch programmes on the Smart TV while watching the weather happen on the river and hills of the valley. We have gas BBQ that can be used by prior arrangement and a fire bowl that can be used with either charcoal or wood. Upon reqest, we can provide an iron/ironing board and may be able to arrange access to our washer and dryer. Please note the following: The ceilings are low, but this is offset by the large windows bringing in the light and great views (take a look at the pictures). Access to the chalet is an unpaved footpath leading up hill from the car parking area to the elevated position of the chalet. We do not require a security deposit at this time. However, this means that we are fully reliant on our guests to be honest about breakage, spillage and damage so that we can resolve when you check out.
We are next to Ye Old Ferrie Inn, Paddocks Hotel and just down the lane from Wye Knott pub. A short walk away is The aMazing Hedge Puzzle with a butterfly museum, crazy golf and laser tag. There is also an arcade and bar on the nearby caravan park and a restaurant and bar at the Old Court Hotel. In Whitchurch (10-15 minute walk) is the village shop/cafe, The Potting Shed cafe/restaurant and a The Crown curry restaurant and pub. A lovely 45min walk or a much shorter rope ferrie ride takes you to the other side of the river where you can hike up to Yat Rock where the Peregrine falcons can be seen. There are pubs, restaurants and other amenities there too.

  • We had such a wonderful time. Beautiful home, in a stunning location. The house had everything we needed from fire wood to a well equipped kitchen, excellent local information and lovely welcoming touches. It was a really special stay

    Aimee2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • We have highly enjoyed out stay in Denise's cottage. The garden is beautiful and the house itself was very clean, charming and had everything we wished for. It is very peaceful to stay there, but there are plenty of day trips to be made in the area. Denise is very helpful and really nice. We really enjoyed our stay.

  • An amazing cottage with a lovely hostess, filled with amenities, character, comfortable beds, a great shower, relaxing living room, and a fully stocked kitchen. The sound of the brook outside was so peaceful and relaxing. The pony was a delight to see. Very picturesque, romantic and charming. A lovely experience.

This is a one bedroom, first floor apartment in a converted sandstone barn. Situated in a quiet rural location it is perfect as a relaxing retreat or a base to explore the wonderful local attractions. There is one double bedroom with ensuite, open plan living space with fully-equipped kitchen and lounge area. Wi-fi is included.
Llangarron is a quiet village with few amenities and we are situated at the end of a short country road approximately 3/4 mile from the centre of the village. We can offer a peaceful and relaxing place to stay yet we are only a few minutes from some excellent road links. The neighbouring village of Llangrove has a friendly country pub that serves food and welcomes visitors. The accommodation retains the original roof timbers and beams. Whilst the ceilings are high there are 2 beams which give are only approx 5'8'' above the floor. Previous guests invariably viewed these as part of the character of a traditional barn conversion.
We are in a quiet rural location and guests frequently comment on the tranquillity despite being close to good road links. As a consequence we generally have a good range of song birds, quiet lanes and traffic free footpaths to ensure you can relax and enjoy your stay. The market towns of Ross on Wye and Monmouth are equidistant in opposite directions and are approximately 5 miles away. The Lower Wye Valley region is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty for very good reason. The traditional holiday activities of walking, cycling, canoeing, fishing, golf etc are all available locally. Places to visit - The Royal Forest of Dean with its wealth of wonderful scenery and social history. You can visit some local locations used to film some recent movies such as - Star Wars: Episode VII: The Force Awakens, which used Puzzlewood near Coleford or Coppett Hill which featured in a Harry Potter film. - Symonds Yat with it’s magnificent river views and famous Peregrine falcons, it also looks spectacular viewed from a canoe. Canoe trips are easy to organise from Ross on Wye or Monmouth. - The Dean Heritage Centre......... is worth a visit - The cathedral cities of Hereford and Gloucester. Hereford Cathedral houses the world famous mappa mundi Gloucester Cathedral was used as part of the set for the Harry Potter films - The Malvern Hills. - The River Severn (with its famous tidal wave – ‘The Severn Bore’). -The Welsh Borders, including the 'Book' town of Hay-on-Wye and the Brecon Beacons. -Goodrich Castle, plus other historical sites.
  • Mark’s place is lovely and cosy in a great rural location. The self check in was easy and convenient for us as we weren’t sure what time we were going to arrive. We loved that we could bring our dog as there were lots of walks and gorgeous surrounding countryside. It was great value for money and had everything we needed - thanks Mark!

    Lacey2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Just what we were looking for and perfect for what we needed. Really cosy accommodation in a truly beautiful location. Mark is a fabulous host and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

  • This is a cosy and comfortable little apartment in a fabulous area for great walks and beautiful scenery. Everything we needed was here and more!

    Peter2019-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • Set in the heart of the countryside, the accomdation has all the essentials needed. For the price the accomodation was clean, instructions & guidance were clear and quite comfortable. Many thanks Mark.

    Abby2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I had a lovely weekend stay at foxwhelp. Mark is a great host who answered any questions we had and the accomodation was lovely and clean and filled with everything we needed, including cooking utensils, tea, coffee, sugar and milk. The surrounding area is very appealing if you prefer a quieter off the grid experience while still being a 5-10 minute drive from shops, pubs and gas stations. We really did have a wonderful time and fully recommend the property and Mark as a host. 😊

    Phoebe2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • An ideal ‘get away from it all’ hideaway and a good base to explore the Welsh Marches - feels remote but only a few miles from Ross for shops, etc.

    Paul2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful and friendly hosts. Hey accommodating! Location is 5* if looking for some peace and quiet, but also close enough to local pubs and shops.

  • This is a wonderfully cosy cottage with fantastic facilities and plenty of space. I think our children would happily have spent the whole holiday playing in the house and garden. It's also really well located, with beautiful countryside and walking right outside the door, and heaps of great attractions only a short drive away.

    Jo2019-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great few days here lovely cottage and garden.

    Luke2019-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • Brown's cottage is simply amazing. It's photo's do not do it justice at all and we were overwhelmed when we arrived at how lovely it is. Amazing gardens, the cottage is so cozy and spotlessly clean. Margaret has supplied practically everything you need. Shower is amazing! Conservatory looks out over the fields and is a lovely place to to chill out followed by and evening of relaxation in the comfy lounge. Kitchen is a great room to chat around the table and the gardens are fab. Location is perfect for many attractions etc. We went for a little relaxation and that''s exactly what we got in perfect surroundings. A beautiful place to stay.

  • Beautiful cottage with stunning gardens and views. A lot of room in the cottage. Peaceful! We explored a lot of the area but still feel we have much more to see!! Thank you for an amazing family holiday :)

    Ronny2019-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • Brown's cottage and garden are beautiful, comfortable and well maintained. We were awestruck when we drove in and saw it. It was even better than shown in the pictures. The location is quiet, looking out over fields and we could see and hear lambs. The lawn is great for kids to play. The conservatory is large and warm, with awesome views and a table. There are an outside table and chairs also. Upstairs the three bedrooms were comfortable and well furnished. The cottage just feels like a perfect blend of the old and new. What a Gem to stay there in such easy access to all the Wye Valley has to offer.

    Craig2019-06-22T00:00:00Z

The Old Hall is unique and full of charm with an equally characterful history. Dating back to the 1830s, it was originally a Victorian schoolroom for the children of the estate workers at nearby Hill Court Manor. Fully renovated in 2018/19 to an exceptional standard, it is now a spacious but cosy two bedroom hideaway, and sits along a quiet country lane in a small hamlet in the beautiful Wye Valley, an AONB surrounded by orchards and fields, with views towards Coppett Hill from the front.
The Old Hall has numerous touches to make your stay as comfortable as possible, and features a large log burner and underfloor heating in the kitchen and bathroom, so is a fantastic escape to the country in both the summer and winter months. The spacious open plan kitchen is modern and fully equipped and has a breakfast bar overlooking the lounge making it a wonderfully sociable space, and the bathroom, located on the ground floor, is fitted with a powerful rain head shower. To the front of the cottage is a dining / games area with a wide spiral stair case leading up to the two bedrooms, one double, one twin. The main doors of the dining room open out onto a fully enclosed south facing terrace, with table and chairs to enjoy this relaxing sun trap in the summer months.
Whilst The Old Hall makes the perfect country getaway with fabulous walks literally from the doorstep, it's ideally situated for the best of both worlds, and the bustling market town of Ross on Wye is approximately 1.5 miles away, where you will find an excellent range of shops, restaurants and pubs. Sitting on the cusp of the three counties of Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Gloucestershire with the Welsh borders and the Malvern Hills close by, the holiday property makes the perfect base for exploring, walking and cycling. It is also within easy reach of the magical Forest of Dean, rich in wildlife, with many lakes and picnic sites, and Symonds Yat and the Cathedral cities of Hereford and Gloucester are just a short drive away.
  • The Old Hall was the perfect place to spend a weekend in the gorgeous Wye Valley. Haddy and Adam's cottage is so beautifully presented and it was sparkling clean. It had everything you could possible want and the personal touches were lovely. The fireplace in particular was very welcome during a chilly weekend. We could not recommend this cottage enough, it was a wonderful rural retreat. We hope to be back!

  • Haddy and Adam's cottage is fantastic. It's beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable. The wood burner in the living room is great and the kitchen is well equipped with everything you could need. Haddy was very welcoming and even left us some tastey treats like some home made granola. We would definitely come back!

    Paul2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Haddy and Adam are super courteous hosts. Their space was sparkling clean and had some really nice personal touches like homemade granola and locally roasted coffee. Lots of advice on where to explore locally too! If we ever come the the Wye Valley area in the future we'd definitely stay here again!

  • Comfortable, welcoming, imaginative and exceptionally well equipped, The Old Hall is ideally situated in a peaceful hamlet, yet conveniently close to Ross on Wye. It made the perfect base for exploring the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean. Haddy and Adam have got the important things right. They also excel at the thoughtful details that make all the difference - a comprehensive welcome pack, clear instructions for equipment, and excellent suggestions and recommendations. A real find - stylish, practical and highly recommended!

  • We had a brief but very enjoyable stay with Janee and Nigel. The space was lovely, warm and very comfortable with a fridge, microwave and DIY breakfast. Janee was a very amiable host and we will definitely be back when we are in the area, hopefully for longer next time! Highly recommend.

    Thomas2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • Janee and Nigel were great hosts. Janee had lit the fire ahead of our arrival to make it a very warm welcome. Breakfast was a lovely touch - with fresh bread and a selection of cereals - plus tea/coffee/juice to enjoy. The cottage has a cosy feel and had off street parking. The bathroom/shower room was clean and perfectly fine. There are a few pubs/coffee shops within walking distance and access to footpaths for decent walking in the area. It was a great stay and would recommend to others.

  • Lovely, friendly hosts. Sparkling clean cottage and very cosy with log burner. Very accommodating with our dog. Great location close to Monmouth and Ross-on-Wye.

  • If you are looking for a chilled, relaxing getaway, this little gem is a great choice! The guest suite was cosy and comfortable, just what we needed for a little break before Christmas. Janee was quick to respond to messages and she was accommodating with requests (we had to check-in an hour earlier), which was handy when you have a little one. She also has a selection of games which we played in front of the fire most nights.

    Michael2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely place to stay, just off the A40. The place was very clean, the hosts very hospitable and welcoming and our privacy respected. The fire was lit as arrived and a box of logs was provided both evenings that we stayed. Breakfast facilities were provided (cereals, fresh bread, milk, toaster, kettle, microwave etc), as well as cutlery and crockery. Comfortable bed, lovely bathroom, perfect for a few nights stay. Hosts were very communicative before arriving and full of helpful tips of the local area. 5*.

7 Wye Rapids Cottages is in a beautiful location overlooking the River Wye and enjoys spectacular views of Symonds Yat. It is also our little home from home and we want you to feel as comfortable as we do. We have a lovely wood burning stove with a generous stock of wood, comfortable beds and a whole range of home comforts. It also has an enclosed rear courtyard with side access (useful for dogs, bikes, canoes etc!).
From the front door are beautiful tracks for walking or cycling and of course the river for canoeing, kayaking etc. I'm told it offers some of the best salmon and barbel fishing around. We are blessed with some great local pubs within easy walking distance, the closest just 10 minutes - all very friendly and welcoming with a great selection of food and drink...and they love dogs! You can cross the river via a hand-operated ferry, run by the staff of the Saracen's Head pub opposite the property - located 5 minutes walk from the cottage.
  • My third visit to this cottage. Beautiful and comfortable cottage in a picturesque location. Well equipt and perfectly located for our short break in Symonds Yat. The access road is tight so grateful for the heads up from Adrian but we arrived unscathed and it doesn’t cause a major challenge if taken slowly.

    Tracey2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely end-terrace cottage in the very heart of Symonds Yat. The views are lovely and the river is so close. We home-cooked all our meals and had everything we needed. The log fire and big bath made it comfy and cosy despite the terrible weather. I'd definitely recommend this property for staying in the area, so close to everything to do and great to be in even if you do nothing! Thank you.

  • Charming cottage in beautiful peaceful spot. Comfortable, cosy and well equipped .

    Sarah2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely cottage and amazing location. Also suddenly realised we were looking at the red house, across the river, from the new Netflix series "Sex Education" we didnt see Gillian Anderson but the view was as stunning from this side of the river for sure. The temporary road isn't for the faint hearted but we managed to drive the big Range Rover in and out daily without any scratches (felt like a proper adventure, though my partner suggested we buy a small car next time to save on blood pressure). A great week, thanks again!!

    Stephen2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • We had a really good stay. The location is spot on and the cottage is an ideal space for 4 people and a dog. The log burner is a really nice touch especially in January/February. Host always responded quickly. Would definitely come back again

    Rebecca2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place, very well equipped. Was hard to find a night but the host was amazingly helpful! Lovely area to say. The warning on the.page is correct... The road is tight, but doable. Lovely walk into Monmouth down the river bank! Thank you :)

  • We have stayed at Adrian's on two occasions, there really is nothing not to like, we intend booking again in the future.

  • We had a great stay at Adrian's place in Symonds Yat. It is in walking distance of the Ferrie Inn and lots of nice local walks. The log burner is super. It's a perfect house for exploring the area during the day and playing board games (and watching Netflix!) at night.

Grade II Georgian property on the 2nd floor, overlooking the river Monnow and fields. Adjacent to Monmouth Priory and Church with beautiful double aspect views. This spacious apartment on the top floor has been added to the success of the first Airbnb on the 1st floor which first became available in 2017. For those requiring more space and luxury this new additional apartment is a must. In entering the apartment there is an overwhelming feeling of relaxation and tranquillity.
The idea of this apartment was to contrast it with apartment on the first-floor which is smaller and more traditional. The living room/ diner is more spacious and modern yet retaining the characters of the Georgian building with very large windows and lots of light. There is a totally separate kitchen with all facilities including washing machine, dishwasher, fridge /freezer and availability of dryer. The spacious bedroom with king-size bed and very large wardrobe all adds up to an apartment which suggests a longer stay for those who want to be central to a huge variety of tourist attractions within a 30 mile radius of the town of Monmouth.
What makes these apartments so special is the prime location being one-minute walk into town yet at the same time having superb views across the meadow, river Church and Priory. Within a five-minute walk there is access to the Savoy and Blake Theatre, excellent art gallery/coffee shop, restaurants, Museum, Castle, book shops, traditional old English pubs.
