  • We love to stay at Riversound, mostly because Jacqui takes such good care of us We do not have to worry about breakfast or sandwich makings. She keeps us full of croissants, toast, tea, yogurt and fresh fruit! The space is lovingly decorated and you go to sleep and wake up to the river outside your door. Lots of pubs within walking or a quick drive. If you are like me, and work full time and want to escape this is a slice of heaven. We moved on to a place in north Wales that is nice with a view. There is such a difference in how I feel coming to Jacqui's home..it is so cozy and delightful.

  • Stunning place, beautiful scenes, cosy and clean! Fully recommend!

    Sophie2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • We needed 2 days of rest and nature. We got more than we needed here. The open fire, the rushing waters and the water fall on your door step cleared away any cobwebs. This is an amazing place to stay. I can not recommend Jacqui and John highly enough.

  • Great space, had breakfast stuff and drink etc there waiting for us. No cooker or hob but the pub was about a minute walk from the house or there were loads of places around if you’ve got a car. It was raining when we were there but it would have been so lovely to sit outside and have breakfast and watch the river. Lots of maps and personal recommendations for things to do when we arrived. We drive to the four waterfalls and did the walk which was amazing but it was a bit of a drive. Definitely need a car if you want to explore. Very pretty views. We had a lovely time.

  • Beautiful cottage, great location. Quick responses with tips on the local area. Amazing extras for special touch. Biscuits, fruit, milk, juice, breakfast condiments, bread, fresh coffee. Made the weekend very special. Even messaged to say not to rush checking out and to take our time. Thanks so much for a lovely stay x

  • Lovely conversion in an incredible location! Property was really clean with plenty of supplies offered by the host! Short walk from local pubs and we’ll definitely be coming back!

  • This place met our expectations and more! The extra touches and the really lovely hosts made for the perfect winter stay. Really enjoyed the wood burning stove, giant bath and the noise of the waterfall just outside the apartment. Would definitely stay again!!

*NB Min of 4 guests in holidays pls use contact host* A quirky converted Baptist Chapel in the Brecon Beacons, 15mins from Crickhowell and Abergavenny with a secret story and lots of sleeping options. Warm in winter with thick stone walls that are calming and quiet. This is a simple place to detox from busy lives. Cosy nights in front of the wood burner with friends or family. A place to read, play the piano, listen to music, sing, cook or just do nothing. Cycling, walking, from the door.
Hugh’s Chapel comprises of two self-contained but adjoining spaces, suited to a romantic or special weekend for two or a get together with family and friends, up to a maximum of 8 persons. We just let to a single group and expand the space available depending on the group size. By default for bookings up to four persons you will be in the main chapel. If you are a bigger group then we will expand out into the Sunday School area through the pulpit door which is normally kept locked. If you are four and particularly want both parts we are happy to discuss and the best thing to do is contact us through contact host option. Unfortunately its difficult to cover this flexibility within airbnb pricing system at present. We try and make it affordable for small and large groups. Hughs Chapel is the main part with the main double bedroom with lots of sleeping possibilities for fold out beds in the main chapel. There are lots of little corners if you want some time to yourself or to read a book. Its great acoustically and listening to music is wonderful. But its the feeling of those thick, calming stone walls that is really special and the light that comes in through the windows at different times of the day. Its simply furnished but comfortable. From that point of view its easy to relax into the feel of the Chapel. The Chapel’s story is also something unique but you will have to find that out for yourself! Through the adjoining pulpit door are the Sunday School Rooms which houses a double Bedroom with arched window and nice views, family bathroom with bath and shower, back door, stairs leading to upstairs third bedroom / living room with foldout double sofa bed and is spacious. Off that space is a small fully functioning kitchen with great views of the black mountains. There is a set of french doors onto a deck area with views of the black mountains that leads onto a private garden with trampoline. This area gets a nice drop of sunshine from late morning until the sun sets.
Friendly and welcoming, quiet apart from lots of sheep on the hills and cows in local farmers field so sounds very rural. You will be warmly welcomed into the local pubs You can hear the streams in the background. Very old industrial archaeology tramways, railways, quarry working, iron works hidden in every corner. Hidden valleys, beech woods, small waterfalls, lots of birdlife, Owls at night, Cuckoos, woodpeckers, peregrines. Despite this very good links to Abergavenny 15mins by car and only 25mins by bike downhill ! So good base to go and explore the rest of the National Park or further a field Cardiff, Gower Peninsula, Forest of Dean, Wye Valley.
  • Ivan is a fantastic host and hughs chapel is absolutely beautiful. It was storm Dennis so we just started in and played games (there are plenty in the house) in front of the log fire. It was a well deserved rest. Occasionally we looked outside but it was still raining - there are walks and cycle paths from the door . The kitchen is well equipped and the rooms are very comfortable. My daughter loved her mezzanine hideout . We will be back soon we hope and next time in the sunshine !

    Elizabeth2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Ivan is a great host. Thoughtful touches, excellent communication and a wonderful location. We were warm, comfortable and had everything we needed for a great stay. There was freshly baked bread awaiting us on arrival and plenty of firewood supplied for the couple of nights we were there. Lots of space and a well-equipped kitchen in a very special building. I have no reservations at all in thoroughly recommending Hugh's Cottage as a top notch destination.

    Carl2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place, Ivan is so thoughful with fresh bread in the oven for us on arrival. He provided us with so much information regarding the local area!

    Hannah2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • The chapel is a stylish place with musical history located in the beautiful welsh countryside. Ivan was on hand to show us around, give local tips and had even baked bread for our arrival. We had a hugely productive and fun weekend in an inspirational setting! Would recommend!

    Tom2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Lovingly restored converted chapel in a beautiful location with plenty of walks right from the doorstep. We loved the property and felt very comfortable and warm during our winter weekend. Thanks Ivan!

A private ground floor apartment set in the heart of the Brecon Beacons. A perfect country escape to recharge those batteries. The property looks directly onto the sugar loaf mountain from the sitting room window. The property enjoys its own private landscaped garden. Ideally situated for access to a number of popular mountain bikes routes. The property also enjoys door step access to numerous scenic walks for both the seasoned walkers or those who enjoy more gentle strolls in the countryside.
The space has an open plan, kitchen, sitting room and dining room. It is heated by a electric fuelled wood burner effect fire and central hearing making it a cosy, comfortable and romantic place to enjoy rural wales. It has a double bed and a bathroom with a shower. From the back door you can walk out onto a patio and large landscaped private garden so you can sit and enjoy the beauty of your idyllic surroundings and in the evening listen out for the song of the nightingale or the hoot of the owl. There is one pub which serves food and real ales in a 20 minute walking distance. There is also another pub the Dragon's head in Llangenny which is only a five minute drive away which we often frequent - a warm welcome is always guaranteed. The space is nestled in the mountains so is very rural although you can pick up mobile phone signal and 4G and it is easily accessible by car. There is also free WIFI. There are loads of walks right from the front door so you can park up for the stay and take in the surroundings leaving you refreshed to return home. There is another apartment above the property but the two spaces are entirely separate. If you would like to come friends, if available, you can rent both properties which would then accommodate 4 people in total.
We hope that you will love the peace and tranquillity that the countryside offers, except when we are herding the sheep! ;)
  • If you need some quiet time away then look no further - Lizzie's place simply is perfect! We loved spending time watching the countryside around us and meeting Lizzie's lovely animals too. The place is also perfect to visit the beautiful town of Crickhowell - a real gem with all its independent shops. Thank you, Lizzie, for giving us the chance to relax in your cottage - it was perfect for us!

  • We loved Elizabeth’s Airbnb- it was a lovely place to return to and had everything we needed. We especially appreciated all the suggestions that she provided us beforehand, as well as the information left for us in the flat with local things to do.

    Megan2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely stay in gorgeous little spot near crickhowell , highly recommend

    David2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Lizzie’s place in the welsh countryside is a delightful peaceful retreat within a stones throw of some of the best attractions in the Brecon Beacons including the big peaks and the four falls trail (worth a trip!!). Very close to crickhowell in which The Bear was a wonderful pub with excellent food (Make sure you try the lamb rump- it was to die for!). Very secluded but excellent instructions will make sure you get to the property even in the dark. Very warm, cosy property with everything you might need to cook for yourself. Only slight downside is it is a downstairs flat, so it can be a bit noisy from the upstairs air bnb habitants even just walking around. Having said that it is in an incredibly peaceful location so other noise isn’t an issue.

    Georgina2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • This house was one of the best Airbnb’s I’ve ever stayed at. The house was lovey and set in the most amazing location, just what we wanted for our relaxing new year, we had a lovely walk just outside the door step which was a bonus! The directions to get to the house were clear and easy to follow. Elizabeth was very helpful and kind when we had a problem. Can’t wait to come back for another relaxing holiday.

    Darcy2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a pleasure stay in the Brecon Beacons Park over X-Mas time!

    René2019-12-26T00:00:00Z

  • Barbara is a Lovely host who clearly really cares about everyone who stays here A brilliant place to stay too, great location and lots of touches which give it a nice home feeling Can’t fault it at all, lovely person, lovely place

    Christopher2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • You will get a warm welcome From Barbara. The accommodation shares a front door and stairway, but elsewise is self contained, and Barbara is happy to let you decide how much contact, if any, there is. There is a fridge/freezer, kettle and microwave which we found perfect for our needs. There are local pubs that serve food, more choice is available at either Abergavenny or Crickhowel. The canal that goes through Gilwern provides a relatively flat walking surface and way to enjoy the countryside as an alternative to climbing the many local steep hills.

    Vince2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • The Cwtch is a real find - extremely good value accommodation of a high standard. Barbara is a friendly and helpful host and there is nothing she has not thought of to make the Cwtch a welcoming and comfortable place to stay - I look forward to returning again in the Summer 😊

    Lesley2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Such a wonderful find. The Cwtch has everything we needed. It was clean and warm with comfy beds and plenty of hot water for showers. Tea, coffee and milk were provided, as well as yummy welsh cakes. Barbara is a welcoming and helpful host. Our stay was fantastic value for money and we would highly recommend The Cwtch.

    Jill2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place and Barbara was very helpful, there was a minor issue with heating that was quickly resolved. Comms and check in were great. Sorry that I broke one of the wine glasses!

    Roger2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • The Cwtch was perfect for our needs. There was much more space than I expected, and having our own lounge which we could store the bikes in as well as relax in was also a bonus! Barbara was and excellent host: communicating promptly, offering advice for dinner and being extremely welcoming and accommodating. I would certainly stay again if I was in the area and would recommend. Thanks for looking after us!

  • A great spotless cabin with a very comfortable bed with a gorgeous view. We loved staying here! Even though the weather wasn't great at all there are plenty of things to do around there in order to avoid the heavy rain thanks to Gail's details on things to do around the area.

    Carlos2020-02-16T00:00:00Z

    Matt2020-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • What a fantastic place!! Check in was absolutely simple and Gail and Tim were completely accommodating for parking and offered a warm welcome on arrival with plenty of local tips. The cabin is absolutely gorgeous and has amazing views out over Crickhowell and beyond. There was plenty of room in the cabin and we wanted for nothing. Many little touches made for an excellent stay and we wanted for nothing. Everything is thought of to make your stay simple and relaxing. Warm and cosy and an excellent shower, no expense has been spared to make it an excellent place to escape! A short walk to the local or a little bit further and you have the abundance of pubs and restaurants of Crickhowell which is a beautiful town. Highly recommend the Vine Tree for dinner. The Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons are both a short drive away and you can be heading off in the hills behind the cottage within 15 minutes of leaving the cabin. Excellent hosts with a superb place. Highly recommended!

  • We stayed at Helen’s for one night. It was absolutely lovely, the rooms were comfortable and clean, everything needed for a quick bite or a breakfast, and close to Crickhowell. Plus, Helen was very welcoming and available. It was a delight !

Set within the Brecon Beacons National Park, our place is perfect for walking, cycling and visiting the nearby Bleaenavon World Heritage sites including Big Pit, Blaenavon Ironworks and the Pontypool & Blaenavon Heritage Railway. The charming market town of Abergavenny is only 6 miles away and well worth a visit.
One bedroom with double bed and clothes rail. Shared use of bathroom, dining room and kitchen. The main benefit of staying with us is our location. Set in the Brecon Beacons, in the village of Llanelly Hill, it is a perfect place for those who want to discover the unique beauty of the area, as well as those interested in industrial history and archaeology.
We feel so lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the world. The area has loads of walks and trails and plenty of cycle tracks. We are about 3 miles from the World Heritage site of Blaenavon, a must see for anyone interested in industrial history. Although we no longer have a village shop, there are plenty of shops in Brynmawr, just a couple of miles away. There is a village pub - The Jolly Collier - just 500 metres away. It serves food but only on a Wednesday, Thursday (Tapas night) Friday & Saturday - 6-9 and on Saturday and Sunday lunch 12 - 2.30. It is a lovely friendly place and the food is excellent. Would advise to make a reservation as it is only a small place and gets booked very quickly. I am happy to book for anyone who would like to eat there. The Racehorse Inn is relatively close, and although it can be done on foot, the hill up to it is very steep. They are open every night from 6.30 for meals and serve Sunday lunch 12-3. Again I can make bookings on guests behalf. The Bridgend Inn, in the nearby town of Brynmawr, is another good place to eat. Regular Menu served Monday-Saturday 12 -9pm. Sunday lunch 12 - 4. Happy to book on guests behalf

The Annex is a fully detached and self-contained dwelling in the grounds of the former Presbyterian Manse of Crickhowell, Powys. Situated at the foot of the Table Mountain within the Brecon Beacons National Park, this property is ideal for walkers or anybody with a taste for the outdoors. Alternatively, a 5-minute walk leads to the busy town centre of Crickhowell and its collection of independent shops as well as some excellent pubs and restaurants.
The Annex consists of a kitchen/living area, double bedroom and en-suite shower-room. The modern kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering with a fridge with ice-box, double induction hob and electric oven. There are also 2 small sofas to relax on while watching the Freeview TV. The high vaulted ceiling gives a sense of space and a good helping of natural light. The stone-tiled floors benefit from underfloor heating throughout and the skylight in the shower-room is remote-controlled. We also provide a selection of cereals to help get you started in the morning.
Crickhowell is a lovely, small, but perfectly formed market town in the Brecon Beacons national park. Excellent walking opportunities are right on the doorstop as well as a wealth of other outdoor pursuits such as horse-riding, caving, canoeing and climbing to name but a few. If you prefer to admire the views and soak up the atmosphere Crickhowell prides itself on its extensive range of independent shops and local cafes, pubs and restaurants.
  • Excellent stay, very accessible , really nicely done space , everything worked great , especially the underfloor heating. Highly recommend

  • A perfect size cottage for two. Modern with plenty of space for two. Having a full kitchen is helpful and arriving to find milk and cereal for breakfast was a nice touch. A large comfortable bed with storage and a place to hang clothes. The toilet and shower room are large and you will have a nice warm powerful shower. A lovely town with many good restaurants. A 5 minute easy stroll into town Many walking routes nearby. Gorgeous views!

The Studio is a quiet and cosy detached retreat on an exclusive development yet it is situated just a few minutes walk from the centre of Crickhowell with its tourist office and many interesting shops, pubs, restaurants and takeaways. The Studio was newly let in late 2017 with fresh decoration, kitchen, fixtures, fittings and carpets. The mezzanine bedroom has a comfortable King sized bed.
Full gas boiler central heating/ hot water and highly insulated walls and loft make The Studio a really cosy retreat. Return from a day in the Brecon Beacons to a well equipped interior which includes: Smart LED TV with Freeview, YouTube etc/ Unlimited Fast Fibre broadband/ WiFi / DVD Player/ DAB Radio with Bluetooth speaker facility/ 4G Mobile Signal. Books, games, magazines, DVD box sets and movies provided. New for 2019 is a G00GLE Home Mini to answer questions about the locality. The kitchen is equipped with an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge, kettle and toaster. Tea and coffee making facilities are provided, together with a Welcome Pack consisting of bread, jams, Welsh Cakes, milk, orange juice, chocolates (and a nice bottle of wine for stays of 7 days or more). The bedroom has a King sized bed, Smart TV, large chest of drawers and a clothes rail with hangers. The double garage offers secure parking for a car, motorbikes, mountain bikes, kayaks and canoes. It also houses a Washer dryer and freezer. Unfortunately due to its design, with spiral staircase and mezzanine bedroom with low window ledges, the property is not suitable for the disabled or children under 10 . Sorry no animals allowed. The Studio is strictly a no smoking property and the hosts would appreciate it if guests took off dirty shoes and boots at the door.
Crickhowell is a popular tourist destination in Mid Wales. Quaint and cosy two-bedroomed cottage in the village of Nantyglo in the South Wales Valleys. We've introduced lots of exciting new discounts for 2020! There's a 10% early bird discount if booking 6 months ahead, 10% off for bookings of 7 days or more, and a low-occupancy discount for smaller groups. Travel cot, high chair and toys are available at no extra charge. We can also supply pet crates at no charge. Please request when booking (no more than one large dog or two small dogs please).
The space is decorated in a cosy cottage style, with a lounge and small fitted kitchen downstairs, and two bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs. The kitchen has both a fridge and a freezer, a full-size gas cooker, sink, kettle and ample cutlery and crockery. Upstairs there is a twin room and a small double, and in the lounge downstairs there is a sofa bed. (With the sofa bed and travel cot, the cottage can potentially sleep up to seven, including children and infants, but please note that there is just one bathroom in the property and the living spaces are quite small.) There is a small flight of steps up to the front door and the stairs up to the bedrooms and bathroom are quite narrow. Therefore access for disabled guests is limited. (Please consider booking our other property, Aderyn Mawr in Blaina, if you or a member of your party has disabilities, as this may be more suitable.)
Once one of the most important iron-producing centres in the world, Nantyglo is situated close to the famous Brecon Beacons National Park, popular with walkers and cyclists for its dramatic scenery and challenging terrain. Venture further afield and you can visit the market town of Abergavenny to the east, or Caerphilly to the south - famous for its cheese and its impressive medieval castle. Or you can also explore Welsh history through a visit to Big Pit National Coal Museum, part of the Blaenavon Industrial Landscape which is a World Heritage Site. The Pontypool and Blaenavon Railway and Brecon Mountain Railway are nearby.

We didn't make use of the microwave but we thought the eating area was well thought out. The bathroom is modern and the shower is large and always hot. The bedroom was warm and the sofa was a good addition to watch the TV. Matthew is a very kind host and we were able to check-in early on the second of our stays.

We got a lovely takeaway from Red Indigo, the Indian that is a 5 minute walk down the road. The cottage is cosy and spacious and had everything we needed! Thanks again.

The cottage makes for a ridiculously convenient location to tackle Table Mountain and is an easy 15 minute stroll to the high street, where there are plenty of independent shops, cafes, bakeries and pubs to explore. Ann and Jon were very responsive and provided lots of local information, and welcomed us with delicious home made bread! Couldn't recommend this place enough!

  • We spent two nights at Richards lovely home. It is an old house with plenty of character. Our bedroom was lovely and roomy with a large bathroom, for our use only, directly beside it. Downstairs, we had our own sitting room with a fire. As it was February, the fire was a very welcome treat. The breakfast was very generous. We had a choice of fruit, cereals, hot cooked or all of it !!! Plus coffee, tea and juices. Absolutely wonderful. It's position is so close to the town that a short walk sees one at all the amenities. We had three very enjoyable days with Richard, who is a very entertaining and hospitable host. We will definitely like return there in the coming months. Thank you Richard.

    Theresa2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Unbelievable setting in the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park. We went on two lovely long walks (both setting off and returning to the house) that Richard suggested, and came home to a cosy living room and made a roaring fire. We will be back :)

    Solomon2019-12-09T00:00:00Z
  • Richard was a fantastic & fun host - a real delight to stay with. His cooked breakfasts were an absolute treat! We also really appreciated the advice on local walks and where to eat. Comfy bed, quiet house and a log fire - what could be better? Without doubt Richard, has been our best AirBnB host so far! We'll definitely be back.

  • Richard was an excellent host, veer friendly and with interesting conversation. He made us really good breakfasts, plenty of tea (in the pot of course) and is an interesting and creative guy with fantastic hill walking knowledge and tips. The house was clean, spacious, warm and welcoming. The location is great for getting up on the hills and is in the small town, with great pubs and local shops.

  • Hayley's place was beautifully clean and felt so fresh and new. And 'perfectly formed' home is anything but small---the photos don't do the place justice!-- it's really spacious and airy. Especially upstairs (yes two floors!) Really fab space, brilliantly stocked kitchen for all your cooking and baking needs, super light in the lounge, and could accommodate 4 of us generously. Cosy and warm, conveniently close to the lovely canal, and was the perfect base for walks above Llangatock, Sugar loaf and the black mountains. Hayley and family were all wonderfully accommodating and welcoming. Thanks Hayley! xx

  • A very well presented space. Access was easy and well explained and we were left to it. I think due to poor phone signal in the area, Wi-fi would enhance the stay. But apart from that, the place is lovely.

An off grid rural glamping retreat in a hand built oak frame cabin on the slopes of the Sugarloaf Mountain and spectacular views. Enjoy the cosy loft bed and glow of the wood burning stove, wood supplied. There is a posh compost loo and the bathroom is a converted horse box, plenty of hot water and bath with a view. Once there you will enjoy complete peace (no WiFi or signal here) amongst wildlife, a spring fed pond and barbecue area. Steep access down the field; you must be relatively fit.
Bluebell Cabin is on the slopes of the Sugarloaf Mountain in the Black Mountain region of Abergavenny. It is glamping heaven in a peaceful wild field of your own. The owners live at the top of the field. There is gas burner cooking, a barbecue, solar lighting and lots of hot water. The loft bed is a cosy space. An ideal place for walking, cycling, mountain biking, wild swimming or unwinding and getting away from it all within designated dark sky area status.
Forest Coalpit is a tiny hamlet in the heart of the spectacular Black Mountains. We are ten minutes from Llanthony Abbey, a great evening cycle with a welcome beer at the end. The Black Mountain Cycle Centre is ten minutes away with some great mountain biking. We have sheep on site and our cat (Jones) and dog (Spud) are both likely to pay you a visit.
  • Our stay was absolutely perfect. The cabin is beautiful and exactly what we needed to take a breath from our busy life. The little touches and added comforts made the stay even better. Truly the best weekend away we have ever had. The love and attention to the cabin pours out and stays with you. And that bath...!

  • This is a lovely and very relaxing spot. The cabin is beautiful and there are lots of lovely little touches everywhere like cosy rugs and blankets and a light that's perfect for reading on the sofa near the fire. I stayed for 2 nights alone and it was a perfect secluded but safe spot that is close to lots of lovely walks. Anne is a very welcoming host and ensured I had everything I needed. Would definitely recommend.

  • We stayed at Bluebell Cabin for a blissful birthday weekend, it's a beautiful and cosy space for tranquil slow living. Everything you need to relax and enjoy is right here ... If it isn't, you probably don't need it (especially WiFi!). Particularly enjoyed toasting marshmallows in the fire, a brainwave extra touch! Will definitely be back...

    Justin2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic weekend. The hosts were very relaxed and the accommodation was fully equipped. We cooked outside on the BBQ and enjoyed baths looking out at the view. It is so peaceful and you can go for numerous incredible hikes straight from the door. Sugarloaf is highly recommended.

    Charlotte2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed for two nights in this beautiful cabin but could have stayed for weeks! It's really spacious and comfortable with so many thoughtful touches - sofa, blankets, firewood, books and games. The solar lighting was just as good as electrical lighting and the hot water supply was reliable - the bath in the horsebox is a genius idea and so relaxing! Definitely climb up Sugarloaf mountain if you can, it's an easy but stunning walk from the cabin. We didn't bring a car, but arranging taxis from Abergavenny was easy enough (around £12). Anne was kind enough to drive us to Crickhowell at the end of our stay as well. Finally, if you like dogs you can hang out with the lovely Spud, an added bonus :)

The cottage is cute and quaint, with stunning period features, and furniture, as well as contemporary design and upcycled pieces. There is a lovely wood burner, modern fitted kitchen and space for four people in the two bedrooms. It's very close to the River Usk and the great pubs and restaurants that Crickhowell has to offer.

  • A perfectly situated little cottage with walks by the river on the doorstep and shops at the top of the short hill. We had a really lovely time regrouping as a little family here, going out for meals, and looking around the lovely local shops. Although the cottage is small it didn’t feel poky, even with three adults and two small dogs. The kitchen is well equipped, and the beds super comfy. I loved hearing the birdsong from the trees at the back of the property. Thoroughly recommended.

    Christopher2019-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • Such a lovely old cottage with woodburning stove and stylish decoration in a great location. If you don't know Crickhowell, you're in for a treat - lots of places to eat and drink and of course stunning countryside. A multitude of walks and activities on your doorstep! Be aware that you might not be able to park on the same street and that the cottage is certainly cosy. If you have mobility issues the stairs might be difficult too - they're steep - and the bathroom is downstairs. Of course, this is all part of the charm of an old cottage but it might not suit everyone. We wouldn't hesitate to stay again, and Alistair is a great host with excellent communication.

  • We enjoyed our time in Alistair’s cottage. It was very cosy and had everything we needed. If bringing a car, be aware that there may not be parking in the immediate vicinity.

We have made this place snug and comfy with high thread count linen sheets, comfy beds, thick fluffy towels and carefully chosen furniture and art. The views are spectacular and the walking and biking great. It is an eco barn, off the grid and powered by a wind turbine, solar panels and a back-up generator. Water is from a nearby spring (it tastes delicious).
The barn has direct access to the mountain behind so hiking and mountain biking is fantastic! Downstairs is all open plan, with a wood fired stove, kitchen, dining table and comfy sofas. The shower and WC are downstairs and there is an additional sink upstairs. Access to the bedrooms is up a stone staircase in the fresh air. We enjoy seeing the stars on our way to bed, but this might not suit everybody!
This barn is up a remote lane and steep drive. The view are spectacular up and down the valley and across to Table Mountain and Sugarloaf.
  • Amazing barn, in an amazing location. Had everything you wanted, the cosy fire whilst it snowed outside was perfect. 👌🏻

  • Amazing place to stay with views that cannot be beat. The house had everything needed and between Harriet and the care takers anything we needed was sorted out. We wanted a chilled quiet weekend and it was perfect for it. Welsh valleys at it best! We will certainly be back if!!!!

  • Absolutely stunning and a fantastic place to relax or set up base for great walks in the Brecons. Superb.

  • This is a wonderful gem nestled between two Welsh national parks. Peaceful with birdsong, cosy warm indoors with a great fire, and bonus sauna to boot! We loved staying here. It was a bit difficult to find (for future reference: search for 'Draen'), but the effort was worth it!

  • It was a lovely stay. The setting is stunning, beautiful views no noice or light pollution. The house is simplistic but in a good way it has a rustic feel to it. It’s great if you have a dog because the back garden is all fenced in so you know they are secure. There are so many walks to do right out from the doorstep. Great place for walking holidays. We did struggle to get up the drive. It had been raining allot so the cattle grid up to the drive was slippery it took quite a few attempts to get over it then got stuck again going up the hill my partner had to try push the car. It does say in the book in the house to give it a good run up and it does help. But it’s just something to be aware of. It made me a little anxious to go back out in the car again because it is so steep and tricky to get up the hill. But it’s all worth it once your up. Thank you for hosting us and also thank you for changing the gas for the boiler. We had a relaxing stay.

  • What a beautiful place, everything we needed for two nights. Walks straight from the property into the hills, an amazing walk to the local village with a great pub and river for a dip! Loved watching the bats fly around at night. We hope to be back!

  • The most amazing location, if you're looking for peace, tranquility and walks straight from the house this is the place!

  • Everything was way above expectations!! We really loved the lodge, especially the details of the lodge (perfect setting, nice view, funny rubber ducks right next to the bad tub, kitchen fully equipt, etc.) and the extra's received upon arrival (milk, bread and cookies!!). You could see that everything was very well thought out. The area was very nice to explore and the lodge served as a perfect weekend gettaway. I would definitely reccomend this to everyone.

  • Amazing views, lovely fireplace and cosy decour. Such a nice space with everything you need for a relaxing stay. Friendly and helpful hosts

    Gemma2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Beth was extremely hospitable and the tree lodge is a delight - it’s so tastefully done and every detail is thought through! We were also very grateful for the freshly baked bread and Welsh cakes!

  • Beautiful place in a beautiful setting!

    Matthew2020-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • Had a wonderful stay at Beth's place. Couldn't fault a thing. We really appreciated the extra touches such as complimentary firewood, eggs, bread, milk as well as mince pies! Would highly recommend!

  • Really fantastic place, I couldn’t recommend it more. The house has all the amenities you could ever wish for including underfloor heating. There were also a number a number of really thoughtful touches like eggs and milk in the fridge and a fresh loaf of bread for you on arrival, super clean too.

    Greg2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • My girlfriend and I had a stay in the cabin for a weekend break with trips to Aber and Cardiff. The cabin was perfect for a quiet getaway - the pictures don't do it enough justice. It's a wonderful cabin in a quiet spot with fantastic views of the surrounding mountains. There were complimentary essentials in the kitchen, including coffee, tea, bread, milk, eggs and Welsh Cakes which was a nice touch and meant after a long day travelling we didn't go hungry or thirsty. Location wise it was great for drives into Aber and longer trips out to Cardiff (about 45 mins drive). We also had a wander down into Gilwern where there were a few nice local pubs. We stopped in for a drink at the Corn Exchange which was amazingly friendly. All in all we cannot wait to go back and will absolutely be recommending the stay to friends and family.

Willow Cottage is located within the Black Mountains, nestled up on the hill above the village of Llangattock. Set within the Brecon Beacons National Park. The cottage has fantastic walks from the door, great cycle rides, pony trekking and caving nearby too. Or you can just take a gentle stroll along the Brecon & Monmouth Canal which glides along at the bottom of the hill. Approximately 2 miles away is Crickhowell, with its award winning high street, fabulous pubs and restaurants.
Set on one level, you step straight in to the open plan living space, with generous dining table, leather sofa, Shaker style units and TV/DVD for lazy nights in. The cottage is immaculately clean and is centrally heated so is immediately warm and cosy on arrival. Welcome basket to include: welsh cakes, tea, coffee, milk and sugar (please advise of any specific dietary requirements or allergens) PETS: One well behaved dog is allowed (no puppies under 12 months). Travel cot and high chair can be provided upon request with no additional charge. OUTSIDE: The property is detached from the owners main residence, which is located next door. Parking is at the front of the cottage and there is a pretty patio area at the rear with rattan furniture & barbeque. To note: Wifi is available through the owners router, though this can be slow owing to the rural location.
  • Great little cottage in splendid hillside setting. Spectacular views and walks from the doorstep. Well kitted out cottage and friendly, helpful but unobtrusive host. Definitely recommend.

  • We found Willow Cottage to be absolutely perfect for our short break - spotlessly clean, in a beautiful location with stunning views, and remote enough to really relax and enjoy the peace and quiet but also just a short drive away from shops, restaurants etc. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t the best when we were there (storm Dennis) but the cottage was cosy and warm. Sarah was amazing, providing lots of info on what to do in the local area, and making sure we were okay during the storm. Hoping to visit again and with a bit of luck have better weather next time!

  • Willow cottage is the perfect cosy place to both relax and enjoy the beautiful countryside. The area is very peaceful and a great location to do lots of walking and experience Welsh life. We were very impressed with the cleanliness and comfort of willow cottage. Had a lovely meal at the local pub (the bear in Crickhowell). Could not fault it and would highly recommend.

  • This quaint little cottage is great. If you're looking for something nice and secluded, but with all the utensils and such you find in a modern place in the city, this one is for you. The location is as rural as it gets which is nice if that's what you're after; hopefully your car can handle the journey. Otherwise, it's got amazing views for daily walks, and the place itself is really treat. Sarah also let us stay for a bit longer, even though it was last minute and also allowed us to check in earlier. So quiet. Highly recommended!

  • We had a wonderful stay and would thoroughly recommend a visit! It’s sparkling clean and feels like a real retreat! It’s perfect for discovering Crickhowell ( a real gem) and Abergavenny and the scenery around the cottage is stunning!

    Chloe2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Willow's Cottage was lovely, nestled away in the hills above Llangattock. It was very well insulated, and nicely kitted out . Sarah was very friendly and popped over the check that we had settled in ok. Would recommend as an escape to the countryside.

    Adrienne2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Willow Cottage. Everything was perfect! Sarah was a very kind and thoughtful host - on our arrival, we even found milk, bread and butter waiting for us in the cottage. The house is beautifully situated in the midst of a stunning landscape, so we enjoyed our hikes just as much as restful hours in the well-equipped and cosy cottage. Even though we came without a car, the way between the cottage and the village of Crickhowell (a beautiful village where you find everything you need) is perfectly doable by foot - it is a hike of about one hour and full of nice views! Thank you very much for the great stay!

  • Sarah's hillside cottage is situated in a beautiful, countryside location. It is quiet and offers stunning views of the Brecon Beacons. The cottage is pristine and modern inside with an open plan living-kitchen area, modern bathroom and bedroom with very comfortable bed. Sarah kindly left me gluten free bread, milk and eggs, and her husband was very helpful regarding local walks and information. The cottage is a real gem, hidden away in the Welsh countryside, and I truly recommend this to all. 5*

Comfortable medium sized room 1.5 miles from Crickhowell. Nice pub in village. TV with amazon fire stick. Tea, coffee and cereal in room. Lovely walks.
  • Friendly host, lovely little village, quiet, simple and comfortable room. Absolutely just what I wanted for a quick overnight stop. Many thanks!

  • Lovely location, very friendly welcome - had a great stay

    Ross2019-03-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay. The room was as seen in the pictures and offered good value for money. We had a shared bathroom with the homeowner, but that is to be expected at this price point (ie, fine for a no-frills weekend away where you plan on being out all day, perhaps not for a honeymoon). Gordon was away but Shirley went out of her way to make us feel welcome - she went to the trouble of finding walking maps and books and made good recommendations for things to do in the local area. She even bought us a disposable BBQ to take out with us, which sadly we couldn't use on the day we planned due to bad weather. One of the biggest plus points was that there is a village pub, the Dragon Inn, a 10-second walk from the property which serves good food and local ales at reasonable prices. A locals pub but not in a League Of Gentlemen sort of way. The local town, Crickhowell, is about a half an hour walk and has a number of pubs and restaurants, a good place to go out in the evening after a long walk.

  • I booked this room for my mum who was let down by a local hotel a few weeks before going to the local Greenman Festival. Shirley and Gordon were constantly available with tips and help throughout the weekend. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. My mum felt very welcome and fully enjoyed her stay.

  • I was only looking for a convenient place to stay a couple of nights while attending a family function in Brecon, but this stay was like a mini holiday in itself. The room had idyllic views accross the village bridge to the delightful pub where I was able to enjoy a good meal. There was everything in the room for a pleasant independent breakfast, and one could come and go with ease. My host was very pleasant company and really helpful. I really wish I had had more time in the region to explore the area around. There seemed to be so much to enjoy that one could have had a very memorable holiday there. Please note note that access to the village is via an extremely narrow lane, and that one should be prepared to hug the hedges closely to allow traffic to pass- all part of the local charm!

    Alastair2018-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • An ideal place to stay. 5 stars
