  • Really well thought-out compact little space close to the centre of Brecon. There were lots of nice little touches including some unexpected breakfast supplies and the whole place was really clean. It's a pity for us that the WiFi wasn't working as the phone signal in the area was a bit patchy but I'm sure this will be resolved soon. Friendly family we met briefly and lovely cats too! Thank you.

  • What an absolutely awesome place! As locations go to doesn't get much better than this. A cosy little cottage on a real working farm surrounded by stunning scenery and run by the nicest, friendliest couple who had loads of local knowledge and helpful tips to make the most of the area. Top notch, highly recommended!

    Jonny2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful and cosy home, perfect for getting space from the outside world. We loved that there was no signal, but a gorgeous fireplace and snuggly sofa with plush blankets instead. Little treats and extra details really made it the loveliest place for us to rest before and after a big Brecon Beacons walk which we reached right from the front door. Thank you!

    Emily2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Got a dog? Love walking? Not terrified at the thought of no phone, TV or wifi? This is the place for you. A warm welcoming fire, all the amenities you need for a basic walking break. Make sure you have a book or your paints for the evenings and you will be out all day admiring the amazing scenery. Local pubs provide food but we stocked up with our own food and didn't need to go anywhere near civilisation!

    Nicole2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Utter animal heaven. It was so wonderful I plan to come back every year. I adored the location, the views were amazing. The animals were the best and the owners are simply wonderful people. We even got to see a just born lamb. This will always be my happy place.

    Helen2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely lovely hosts and the place was completely spotless. Had a lovely stay, and we’ll miss Mabel the sheep.

  • ⭐️Amazing communication from host. Sent loads of useful information of directions for getting to the lodge. ⭐️such cute personal touches, daffodils, wood for the log burner, brioche, biscuits and doggy treats all in arrival. ⭐️sparkling clean, neat, tidy and pristine. ⭐️kitchen has everything you need, there is even a slow cooker. ⭐️I was concerned about the lack of phone signal, tv signal and no WiFi but it actually turned out to be the. Eat thing ever. We watched about 4 DVD’s and it felt lovely to be “off the grid” for a while! ⭐️we didn’t take children but this place is child friendly. ⭐️would definitely stay again and recommend to all!

    Eleanor2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Morris and Felicity are delightful hosts as are their array of pet farm animals. The space was absolutely perfect for us and the location stunning. Good luck to M and F with the farming ventures and hope we can return some day.

    Jimena2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • Where to start ? The communication from Felicity was perfect and prompt, giving me all the information and directions that were spot on. The location was second to none, the added touch of the meet and greet to the animals on the farm really made our weekend. We have 2 dogs and I dont think we could of picked a more accomodating host. Felicity recommended the 3 peaks walk for us and it was spot on distance and time wise! Having the area out the back of the farm to give the dogs a run in the morning is a god send as they are active. To sum up, if you are looking for somewhere to stay, off grid, no signal, a few DVDs, a place the reconnect and reassess, look no further ! The most helpful host you could ask for in the most perfect spot, made for a PERFECT weekend!

Charles' Cottage is ideally located on a quiet street in the centre of Brecon. Within a 5 minute walk you'll find shops, restaurants, the cinema and theatre. The cottage is a fabulous base for exploring the surrounding countryside which is a mere 5 minute drive away. There is an attractive garden where you can have a BBQ and a glass of bubbly on those long summer evenings. Our guests always tell us how cosy the cottage is and how comfy the beds are.
There are 2 bedrooms in Charles' Cottage. Please note, the single bedroom and bathroom are both accessed through the double bedroom. The kitchen is very well equipped with everything you need to make a delicious meal. The beds are fully made with good quality linen and there are towels for all guests to use. I leave basic essentials like 1 x toilet roll, kitchen roll and cleaning supplies. I also leave a small welcome tray with tea, coffee and Welsh chocolate. The cosy living room has a smart TV, with access to catch up TV, freeview channels and Netflix (your own account is needed). It also has an inbuilt DVD player. There is a good Wifi connection throughout the cottage. There is a shed in the garden which guests can access to store bikes. Please warn me in advance so I can leave you the key. Please note that on-street parking is available but cannot always be guaranteed.
The neighbourhood around Charles Street is very family-oriented. Charles is a quiet street as it is a no-through road and the neighbours are all very friendly.
  • A lovely cottage in the centre of Brecon. Wonderfully clean and very peaceful. It was a wet and miserable weekend but the house was lovely and warm to keep us snug. Bed was very comfortable after a long day walking.

A warm and cosy 2 bedroom cottage just a short walk from the historic and busy country town of Brecon in the National Park. Situated right beside the River Usk with views of the mountains beyond. With a secure yard for bikes and parking for 1 car close by.
There are two bedrooms with the main bedroom having a 4' 6" wide double bed. Because of size constraints the two beds in the second bedroom beds are 2'6" wide thus suitable for children (or adults who don't mind a bit of a restriction!). Use of the cottage for guests with mobility problems may prove difficult because they may find the stairs difficult and the bathroom & toilet is down stairs.
Although the cottage is but a short walk from the town centre, it is a very quite neighbourhood. There are few street lights in the vicinity and "dark skies" to the south, east and north may be enjoyed from the balcony terrace (cloud cover and any temporary illumination at the Bowling Club permitting). Guests bicycles may be chained to a secure anchorage point in the rear courtyard (at your own risk) but there are no facilities for washing down muddy mountain bikes on the premises.
  • A lovely stay in a lovely cottage, just on the edge of town but quietly tucked away. Thank you very much for all the easy communication and helpful details of arrival.

    Jennifer2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time in Brecon, the cottage was sparkling clean, everything we needed and more, we felt like home. I would recommend for anyone who wants to stay in Brecon. Thank you Tony and Pam

    Sorin2020-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • Tony and Pam are really super hosts. There are many small details about their hospitality that make you feel comfortable and at home in the cottage - starting from communication pre-visit, through the welcome note and munchies in the fridge upon arrival and a detailed book on the history of the cottage and how things "work" in it. We know beautiful Brecon since our family is from there, but I am sure all the info and pamphlets provided about this wonderful area are very helpful to first time visitors. The kitchen is well equipped and the linens and towels were nice and comfy. The central heating works well. The neighbors are nice and friendly. We stayed at the cottage with two young kids - 6 and 2.5 years old. The cottage is very kid friendly, including toys and puzzles! Note that the bedrooms are upstairs at the top of a stairway but a gate is supplied to block off access to the stairs from the bedrooms. Pam and Tony left instructions on how to use the gate and we learned how to do it quickly and it was fine. Also, there is no built-in bathtub but a baby tub is supplied, which worked fine for us. Thank you Tony and Pam, we plan to visit again!

    Noa2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely space, very clean and Tony & Pam were extremely helpful throughout.

    Will2019-12-18T00:00:00Z
  • The house is very comfortable and we felt completely at home in it. It has everything you need for either a short or extended stay. Location is ideal for walking in to town to get something to eat, or driving out in to the countryside.

    Liz2019-11-08T00:00:00Z
  • Great comms before we arrived, and the lovely cottage was as described and well appointed. First visit to Brecon for us and we are likely to return and would definitely stay here again.

  • Tony and Pam's cottage was perfectly located for us within easy walking distance of everything we needed in Brecon. Well furnished and equipped, and very cosy. Lovely views of the Beacons across the river from the balcony. Our second time staying here, so clearly we're very happy with it!

The old Granary is part of the 300 year old stone buildings that formed The Held Farm. The property is about 2 miles from the centre of Brecon Town but is set in a tranquil countryside setting. We are surrounded on all sides by open farmland and countryside.
The Granary Cottage has been completely refurbished in January 2019. Upstairs is the King Sized bed with wardrobes and dressing table along with a shower room with large shower tray, WC and basin. There are also a couple of easy chairs on the landing for reading. Downstairs is open plan kitchen, diner, lounge. The kitchen has oven, induction hobs, full height fridge and freezer, dishwasher plus crockery and utensils. There is also a Nespresso Coffee machine. There is a dining table and the Flat Screen TV has Satellite TV channels. There is also a DVD Player and CD Stereo. Outside is a patio area for your sole use together with table and chairs. We own the field to the back of the cottage so if you want to take a picnic to enjoy the views, feel free. The cottage is great for two but there is also a small single bedroom with 3ft single bed. In the small bedroom there are some hanging hooks and bedside drawer but no wardrobe.
The cottage is part of a small quiet hamlet called Cantref (or Cefn Cantref) about 2 miles up the hill from Brecon town. The old farm buildings and barns comprise three private holiday cottages (including The Granary) and our home. Guests can walk to town either down the road or via a footpath (Walking boots recommended). Brecon town has many pubs, restaurants, cinema, theatre, canal and three rivers.

  • What an excellent host! The cottage was stunning, and so clean!! It was like a home away from home. Bed was one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept on. All the little touches to the place were lovely. Will definitely be taking up here again on our next stay in Brecon! Thank you guys 😊

    Kirsty2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Me and my boyfriend visited the cottage for a weekend break and it was perfect! Spotlessly clean and very cosy. A perfect location for exploring the Brecon's; would highly recommend visiting the waterfall country! There is also a shop and petrol station just a few minutes away which is very handy! Hosts were superb, friendly, great communication and the welcome basket on arrival was a lovely touch.

    Emma2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • Idyllic setting, loved watching the sheep in the adjacent pasture. The lodging was so well done, a perfect balance of modern convenience and rustic charm. Beds were comfortable, linens were nice quality, well equipped kitchen. Outdoor areas were wonderfully landscaped. Rob is a wonderful host, lots on information on things to do, including laminated trail maps, brochures and a lovely welcome basket which was greatly appreciated after a long day of travel so we didn't have to run right out for groceries. It was a cozy retreat at the end of each day. Plenty of room, a selection of books, games, music and movies provided if you want spend a day cocooning. Loved that they use bio-fuel for heating-it was very comfortable even in rainy December. People in the town of Brecon were also warm and welcoming, and there was a surprising amount of things to do locally given that we were in the off-season. The Nepalese restaurant was wonderful. Book today-You wont be disappointed.

  • Great place. We had the best weekend there. The cottage itself is the prefect combination between old and new and feels really cosy and comfortable. Everything was spotless clean. Alastair was very thoughtful and it was super easy to communicate with him. There are few walks from the house which we took advantage of as well as a nice pub. Will definitely stay again soon!

  • I had a wonderful stay at the cottage! It's beautifully decorated and very cosy. Alistair was a great host with being flexible with check out and providing good instructions on how to get to the cottage. I would definitely recommend and come back again :)

  • Bach Cottage is perfect for a weekend for two in the Brecon Beacons. It's warm and cosy, the log fire incredibly efficient after a day or walking or running in the blustery weather! The eggs, apple juice, milk and Bara Brith cake were all welcome surprises, as were the lovely toiletries in the bathroom. It's in a gorgeous setting, so peaceful and calming. Everything was very clean and comfortable. Alastair was a kind and communicative host as well despite being on his holiday. We will definitely be back.

    Lucy2020-01-12T00:00:00Z

Enter the cottage via an arch, courtyard garden, with gothic door and exposed beams to find modern comforts such as underfloor heating and Eames chairs and a super king sleigh bed. The wood burner makes winter nights a cosy affair.
The Gardener’s Bothy dates back to the early 1800’s and has now been lovingly restored ensuring the charm and character of this period cottage have not been lost. Original exposed beams and Gothic door reflect a different time and contrast well with the modern interior design, which uses subtle tones of green reflecting the natural surroundings. The kitchen is fully equipped, with a stunning granite work surface and the original flag stone floors which flow from the kitchen into the sitting room. Underfloor heating ensures the Bothy is warm and cosy whatever the weather. In the sitting room there is a comfortable sofa, two arm chairs, a woollen rug, small tables and a Charnwood wood burning stove, the colour of which is in keeping with the subtle tones of the room. There are numerous books including those of local interest and those with a gardening theme. There is a dining table with Eames chairs. The dining table extends to accommodate six people, if required. French windows lead out to a sitting area with a bistro table and chairs, whilst the kitchen door opens onto the second patio with table and chairs to seat six. Upstairs are two bedrooms. In the first the dark wood of the ceiling timbers is reflected in the beautiful polished wood of the super-king sleigh bed on which, to compliment the delicate greens, delicate shades of purple and lilac are introduced in the cover and cushions. In the second bedroom the colours are of gentler shades, with two attractive brass and cream twin beds and tones of green in the covers. The Bothy is set in beautiful surroundings, with both views through the beech copse to the park and woodland beyond and views to the outer courtyard.
From the cottage door, walk towards the beech copse and meadow for a stroll along the canal or up onto the peaks of the Brecon Beacons. Within walking distance are a number of local dog friendly pubs serving great food and a number of award winning restaurants are reachable within 30 minutes.

  • The Bothy is so comfortable and well equipped. It is beautifully furnished and in a lovely setting. Wonderful whatever the weather, with great hosts.

    Sian2018-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • The Bothy is a stylishly designed and wonderfully well appointed cottage. The kitchen is exceptionally well equipped - better than home! We really enjoyed having the wood burning stove with the wet Welsh weather. It is an idyllic location for exploring the Brecon hills. Peter also provided us with useful local knowledge on walks, restaurants and even good take aways. The Bothy is meticulously maintained and Peter and his wife are thoughtful hosts: witness the fresh flowers and Easter eggs we found on arrival for our stay over Easter weekend. A class apart.

  • Perfect weekend at the perfect cottage. Peter is very welcoming host, he showed us around and advised on local area with places to explore, to eat and drink. By the way meal at Three horseshoe inn recommended by Peter was amazing also its dog friendly pub so our dog Max didn’t feel left out. The cottage itself was absolutely amazing we stayed at The Dairy. The Dairy is very lovely tastefully decorated, spotlessly clean cottage will everything you ever need or want! I loved fresh flowers in the house is very nice touch. Overall cottage just felt loved. We felt totally at home there. But best thing for us was huge enclosed garden. Max absolutely loved it. We were so lucky with weather and spent most of the time outside it was so nice to have a meal outside and have a glass or two under the stars. Stunning! We will be back soon

    Larysa2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Very quaint and cosy accommodation, fantastic location and a very welcoming host. Great place to stay for walking and dogs. My expectations were far exceeded.

    Simon2018-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at The Dairy over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend and were greeted by Peter, who showed us to the cottage and provided some really helpful tips and ideas of what we could do in and around Ty Mawr. The Dairy was very well equipped, the kitchen had everything! Plus some essentials, which were unexpected but very much appreciated. The amenities generally were excellent and the cottage was very comfortable, with lovely décor. The garden is unexpectedly large, with so much space for our little dog to run around in. We could imagine with some sunnier weather it would have been perfect to spend time in. I could not fault the accommodation and would definitely look to stay here again to further explore Brecon Beacons. The location was perfect to drive to some of the walks and there was lots of information in the guest pack on things to do around the area. I would not hesitate to recommend booking to stay at The Diary, it does not disappoint and will definitely be back to stay again! Peter was a very welcoming host and communication was excellent throughout.

  • We loved our weekend getaway at Sian's cabin. It was so nice being out in the countryside and there's an awesome little stream next to the cabin. We were a short drive from Brecon Town and from the Four Waterfalls hike (highly recommend). The cabin heated up super quickly when we got in from a long walk and the shower was nice and hot. The cooking facilities are awesome - would recommend doing a food shop on your way. Overall a lovely stay - thanks for having us!

Avalon Nook is located in the heart of the Brecon Beacons; a short walk gets you right into the hills. Arty & cosy with open fire, record player, LPs, telescope, Chromecast, books, games and good local pubs. Owned by best-selling writer/forager.
Fancy browsing from a vast range of books and settling down in a comfy, throne-like chair, in front of an open fire, to read for a while? Or perhaps you fancy sitting outside with a glass of wine or a chilled beer, enjoying views over acres of rolling hills, red kites circling lazily overhead? If so, Avalon Nook is the place for you. Technically speaking for AirBnB purposes an apartment, in reality, as a recent guest put it, Avalon Nook is an entire house. Situated on two storeys, downstairs is a large, cosy room with an open fire, sofas, a TV and lots of books and games as well as a record player and a selection of vinyl for you to play with. There's also a conservatory with a drinks cooler and cooking facilities, and a door into the extensive - and very beautiful - gardens. Upstairs are 2 bedrooms, both with double beds, a sparkly bathroom with a brand new shower (installed Feb 2019) and a quirky kitchen/diner, with a baby belling -style cooker and featuring an immaculate and original 1950s sink unit, next to the larger of the two bedrooms. In addition, there is a telescope available for the use of our guests. Being slightly away from the main village means that there's no light pollution here, and the night skies are truly breathtaking; it's for good reason that the Brecon Beacons National Park was recently made the first Dark Skies Reserve in the UK. There are also yoga mats for you to borrow it you're so inclined!
Llanfrynach is a wonderful, quirky village, three miles outside of the pretty Georgian town of Brecon. There are plenty of good places to eat. The nearest pub is just under a mile away, a stroll down the lane to The Royal Oak in Pencelli. A mile and a half in the opposite direction is the Three Horseshoes at Groesfordd, voted Best Pub in Powys for 2018-19; stroll round the lovely churchyard (the largest in Wales) and see if you can spot the grave of a pirate; note that the village loos are run by the community and are twinned with loos in Burundi; if you need reading material, the telephone kiosk has been turned into a free library! You are also close to Talybont on Usk, just three miles away (take a stroll along the picturesque Brecon and Monmouth Canal and maybe enjoy a hearty pub lunch at one of the four pubs in the village!) We are well-placed for events at Peterstone Court, Buckland Hall and Brynich as well as the towns of Brecon and Crickhowell. And if you're maybe looking for a place to stay during the Hay Festival, we are just 20 minutes away. There are plenty of walks and good cycling to be had; Talybont on Usk, 3 miles away, has a fab state-of-the-art solar powered rainwater collection bike wash facility which our many of our guests absolutely love. We can store your bike in a locked space too if you wish.
  • Adele is an amazing and approachable host who makes sure there is nothing you miss!

    Arndt2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Adele was the perfect host. She kept us informed about the weather ahead of our stay, as it did it’s best to stop us from getting there to enjoying ourselves. The accommodation was great and following a walk to the pub it was nice to throw a few logs on the fire and relax. The only downside was that we didn’t have a few more days holiday banked to make it a longer visit.. maybe next time!

    Nigel2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Adele is a fabulous host, very friendly and happy to help with anything you need! The house itself is very cosy and inviting, the perfect place to relax after an exciting day out in the Brecon beacons. We will definitely be visiting again 😊

  • We stayed at Adele's place to celebrate my partner's birthday. We had a wonderfully relaxing time, were made to feel so welcome and we were especially grateful for the local knowledge and the delicious chocolates. The communication, directions and check in were all first rate. With such a cozy home from home and stunning scenery, we would definitely recommend this place to others!

    Hannah2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • A cosy annex style house. Lots of board games on offer. Although I only briefly saw Adele she was really attentive and replied to my questions promptly. She gave us a lovely recommendation for a restaurant a short drive away. The kitchenette is attached to one of the bedrooms but that wasn't a problem. We had a very comfortable sleep in a clean house which is only a short drive away from Pen y Fan . Would definitely recommend a stay in Adele's lovely home

    Harriet2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Adele and Liam's place is absolutely perfect for a relaxing and peaceful getaway. The accommodation is really warm and inviting with lots of extras to keep you entertained - lots and lots of interesting books, DVDs and board games. A lot of thought has gone into providing everything you could need to relax as well as some really thoughtful touches to make your stay extra special. The views from the property are lovely and watching the many birds in the garden is a treat. Both Adele and Liam and great hosts, very friendly and willing to help out (with the added bonus of lots of fascinating knowledge of foraging and cooking!). Would highly recommend staying here.

  • We arrived in Brecon about the same time as storm Dennis so didn’t get to see or do much so were grateful for such cozy accommodation with all the facilities needed. We would definitely like to return in better weather to explore.

  • I would highly recommend staying at this property. I found it to be a well equipped, comfortable and cozy flat. In addition the location is great...a minutes walk from the town centre!

  • I was sent to Brecon for work at very short notice and there were no hotel rooms left. Fortunately Lise's apartment was still available for the two nights I needed and she quickly confirmed my booking. I arrived quite late but that didn't bother Lise and her husband, who waited for me and gave me a very warm welcome. Parking was a 5 minute walk away and they kindly drove me back to the flat, even though it is a safe area. My car was there for two nights without any issue. Lise had left some really tasty Welsh cakes for me, which I devoured in the morning. The place is just down the road from the main high street so the location for me to work from was brilliant, as I could pop in and out whenever I felt like it. The only downside was that my phone reception was a bit patchy so I had a few issues making calls, but I wouldn't say it was a major issue. It was my first visit to Brecon, made all the more enjoyable by having a comfortable place to stay in. I'll be recommending this apartment to others should they need a place to stay.

    Iram2019-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • Lise was a fantastic host for my grandparents-in-law on the build up and night of our wedding. She responded quickly to all queries allaying all worries, and the check-in and amenities provided were much welcomed. She even went the extra mile to hand-deliver some items left behind after check-in. Would recommend 100%.

  • Fantastic clean little apartment right in the middle of Brecon. Perfect for my business trip as a little home from home. I hate staying it hotels and it’s such a luxury to have a safe, quiet, homely space to stay. I’ll be back!

  • Wonderful place! Great Hosts. Amazing location. Highly recommend

    Victoria2019-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • This is an excellent place to stay. Sparkling clean, full of character and some very nice touches that made us feel welcome; a place of generous hospitality (e.g. fresh eggs, bread and milk which made our first breakfast a breeze). The house is very conveniently set out - large kitchen-diner (with every needed item at hand). The sitting room was carefully set out in such a way as to encourage conversation. We were visited by friends both evenings for dinner and wine, and the set up encouraged friendly conversation and hospitality. Plenty of books and games to keep you occupied and the garden was an oasis of calm. This was our first Airbnb and we were delighted.

    Gareth2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Great host, great place and great location! Carol is superb. The cottage has everything that we needed and it was very clean. Only 2.5 miles to Brecon, 15 minutes drive to Pen-y-fan and not far from everything else. Highly recommended.

  • Our stay at Jay Cottage was amazing and one of our best experiences of staying in cottage accommodation. We're a family of 4 (2 adults and two daughters 15 and 12) and Jay Cottage suited us perfectly, we each had our own space for quiet times but shared areas for eating and catching up. The cottage was spotless and felt warm and inviting from the moment we walked through the door and sorted out who was sleeping where. The open, airy dining room was an amazing place to eat our meals. The Wi-Fi kept us connected with the outside world and the girls with their favourite shows. Carol's communication was spot on, before, during and after our visit. Any question we asked was responded to quickly and Carol had put a lot of effort into pre-empting the questions of people staying with useful welcome notes and sticky notes around the cottage advising on how things worked. Jay Cottage was in a perfect location for us as we have a fairly diverse list of things to do on a holiday. I walked up to the summit of Pen Y Fan from the cottage, we visited the beach at Mumbles, the National Show Caves and lots of local shops and craft places. We were never wanting of an activity to do but if we wanted some peace and quiet and a bit of downtime Llanfrynach is the perfect place for it as there is little traffic and everyone is friendly and welcoming. We felt very much at home during our stay and would recommend it to everyone.

    Edita2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely peaceful location. Walks in the Pen Y Fan range from the door. Very clean & extremely well equipped for self catering. Welcoming host who lives opposite. Fabulous hot tub to relax in after walking - with door open you can sit in tub and take in the night sky! A few bits of furniture a wee bit dated but all above positives easily outweigh this minor point.

My place is a cosy apartment, close to public transport, incredibly central, shops (including great coffee shops), the river, the canal, the theatre, the Brecon Beacons. You’ll love my place because of the 'city apartment in Brecon' feel and the styling. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, and families (with small children).
The flat will be yours for the duration of your stay. We have a door key pad so obtaining the key is very easy. You can not be any more central than this grade 2 listed building in the High Street to explore the beauty of Brecon and the surrounding countryside. Walk to the canal, cathedral, theatre and rivers Usk, Wye and Honddu. Go shopping in the town centre. Have a drink in the numerous pubs or something a little softer in the many quaint coffee shops. Use the flat as a base to explore the mighty Beacons. We bought the flat 7 years ago as we love Brecon so much. Now, with children we don't get to travel back there as often as we would like so we are happy to open it up to short lets. Hope you enjoy. Ian :)

Only a 10min easy walk to Brecon town with loads of shops and pubs etc. Loads of walking possibilities nearby in the Brecon Beacons. Danny was a great thoughtful host. • Wonderfull cottage and location sparklingly clean - walks to Pen Y Fan range from the doorstep and the Usk Valley path runs at back of the cottage. Leisurely cycling on the canal tow path in ether direction is great. The drive to the cottage is not actually as difficult as some of the reviews suggest but nevertheless a bit of care is needed. Royal Oak is very friendly and is a 10 minute walk away (look for the stile 100m down the cottage track and down the field). Highly recommended.

Everything is very clean, the beds are comfortable and it really is like home from home. Accommodation available for anyone who needs to be in the area because of their work. Rhiwiau is a cosy, 17th century cottage (GR 057242) at the foot of Fan Y Big, surrounded by open countryside, making it ideal for hillwalkers. £77 for the room p/n. Second room now available. Sleeps 2, can be booked in conjunction for the total price of £129 per night (separate listing as “Mountain Retreat For 4”).
Nestling 300 metres above sea level, Rhiwiau is surrounded by farmland and enjoys some lovely views of open countryside looking out from the Brecon Beacons to the north and west providing a good chance of a sunset. Rhiwiau is also an ideal location for star gazing with no light pollution (see photo). From here can be seen a gentle patchwork of open farm fields dotted with sheep and cattle. Birdlife around Rhiwiau is in abundance and we have spotted Red Kite, Buzzard, Woodpecker and Sparrowhawk to name but a few. Hares reside on the open moorland immediately behind us and part of our garden is the site of an ancient well, believed to date from Roman times and possibly used for baptisms.
The views from the house are magnificent and, as you might expect, we don't have any immediate neighbours living in this remote location.

  • Heather & Andrew offered me a great escape to the hills. I arrived for a low-key New Year and even in gloomy weather the farmhouse is beautiful. The warmth from the wood fire makes for a cosy bolt-hole. Accommodation is clean & smart where you want it (bedrooms and bathrooms) but informal and relaxed in the main dining and social space. They made Max (the border collie) and I very welcome. They are clearly expert at knowing how much privacy you need but were happy to chat and tell me about the house and local walking opportunities. Faultless, friendly hosts - I hope to return!

Number 2 The Barn is a charming, recently converted Grade 2 listed barn conversion located just five minutes from Brecon town centre. Set off the road with stunning hill views you feel as though you are actually in the country side. The house retains many period features, including original beams and natural brickwork, and offers light and airy open plan living space downstairs with three good sized bedrooms upstairs and two bathrooms.
Great central location but set off the road with stunning hills views and very little noise, which makes it feel like you are actually in the country side. Just a five minute walk from the shops and pubs of Brecon and a few minutes away from the theatre and the start of the Brecon and Monmouthshire canal. Three good sized bedrooms and lovely open plan living space. Kitchen fitted out with high quality moderns appliances and extras such as coffee bean grinder, air fryer, microwave oven grill etc. Benefiting from a large front and back garden the house is perfect for families with young children.
Very close to Brecon town centre but situated off the road in a quiet location so feels more like living in the countryside. Lovely views from the front of the house. The house has a cosy feel to it and the under floor heating ensures it is always warm even in the middle of winter. In the summer the open plan design and patio doors leading straight onto the garden means the house feels cool and comfortable.
  • Absolutely beautiful house. Really cosy feeling as it’s a converted barn, but still super spacious and sparkling clean. The house is also in the most beautiful setting overlooking the mountains. communication from the hosts was great and such an easy self check in! Thanks so much for our stay.

WE HAVE FURTHER BUDGET OPTIONS NOW PHOTOS SOON. BUNKROOM & TENT PLEASE ENQUIRE. We are in Brecon, Wales, UK. It is designed for outdoor types, with a 1030pm-7am quiet rule so that guests can get out early if they wish. The owner Paul is an Outdoor Instructor who offers local advice. We are in the Brecon Beacons. Runners can make for Pen-y-fan or you can drive or store your mountain bikes here for easy access to the mountains. There are caves, waterfalls & a canal. This is an awesome place!
The idea of the Townhouse is based on Paul's experience of travelling around the world..we know what is comfortable if basic and welcoming, and what the weary traveller needs! We have just started out after running a successful bushcraft/camping business and aren't promising breakfasts yet but there are tea and coffee making facilities, and you can access the kitchen for cooking. An outdoor shop is within 200 metres and supermarkets within another 100 metres. This means you can arrive in Brecon around 5pm and get that gear and food you haven't had time to organise so you are ready to rock on your weekend. Or get the gear first thing in the morning to then get straight out on the hill! You don't have to be the Outdoor Activity type! There are several festivals each year in the surrounding towns, including Royal Welsh Agricultural Show , the Hay Literary Festival in Hay On Wye and the Green Man Festival in Crickhowell. In Brecon in August there is the Jazz Festival. There is an excellent leisure centre with gym and swimming pool ten minutes walk away! It's uphill so you might not need it by the time you get there! PLEASE NOTE THAT THE 2 BEDS CAN BE PUSHED TOGETHER TO FORM A KING SIZE! please see photos We have declared 2 beds in the room for £25 as the standard price £27 at weekends. You can book the room for just one person. If you add another person, there is a standard additional price . Please also bear in mind that you may be asked to place your sheets on the beds and duvets yourselves and you will be certainly asked to place the sheets when finished with your towel downstairs at the end of your stay. Thanks! We have stated 'potential for noise' in the listing but this is only traffic at peak periods and in the main you will be listening to the birds by the river in the morning and evening! There are relatively steep stairs to your rooms, perhaps 2 flights. You can chill in the garden or cross the river with your coffee if the weather is good. For parking, you may get a place opposite or a short drive away. Bedding is provided with futon type beds (not 'on the floor' see above note). We have priced accordingly...a basic place to rest by the river, close to facilities and the mountains but 'without frills'..certainly comfortable and welcoming, with a guide book library and NO TV! (yes we have wifi!) Getting around More public transport information is available after booking. There is a 40A/39 bus from Hereford where there is a train station There are also buses to link with the famed Mid Wales Train line. The main bus station is 5 mins away Taxis are available, please message me and I’ll arrange one for you
Locally, there are outdoor shops, cafes, pubs, a castle which is now a hotel and a Cathedral with (sometimes!) sunny grounds! ( this is the rain shadow side of the mountains). It is a vibrant Welsh outdoor town.
  • Does exactly what is says on the tin. Great value and Paul is a welcoming friendly host.

    Josh2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Paul was a great host with lots of local knowledge and advice on nearby routes for walking/running. Check in was easy as he communicated well beforehand with detailed instructions. The space itself is perfect for outdoorsy types that just want to rest their heads after a day on the hill. You can make your own food and hot drinks too which is ideal. Located super close to the town to pick up food, outdoor kit or a meal. Plenty of restaurants and a cinema just a short walk away. Thanks Paul, hope to stay again soon!

    Fleur2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • Paul is a great host , he responded to messages quickly and provided us with plenty of useful , honest and essential information prior to our arrival . He was also very understanding and flexible with our check in situation which meant we could let ourselves in at a time that suited us . The property is located in a brilliant area , very short walk to two supermarkets and a weatherspoons pub which is great if you’re looking for cheap food and drink! On a clear day you can see the beautiful hills and mountains of the Brecon Beacons as you walk over the river which is opposite to Paul’s property . We travelled by car and had no issues with finding parking just a short walk away from Paul’s, mountain walks as well as waterfall walks are no more than a 30 minute drive away but all driving is a pleasure in this area of wales as it is so beautiful ! Paul has great recommendations on things to do if you are looking for an outdoor/adventurous sort of holiday. Great host and would highly recommend ! Thanks for a great stay

    Lucyann2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Great little place to stay.....great to get your head down.....warm and friendly...snug front room with kitchin that you can use anytime with free coffee and tea....Ask the host anything Paul will know....

    Derek2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Paul's place was exactly as described and great for a place to stay on our cycle tour in the area. Paul gave us clear instructions prior to our arrival and was there to meet us and help us get settled in when we arrived. If you're looking for a basic, no frills place to stay then this is a great choice.

    Julie2019-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • Great basic accommodation, good location.

    Eric2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Does exactly what it says on the tin. Clean comfortable and homely.

    Jack2019-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • Paul’s Homestay is about as true to the origins of AirBnB as you can get. But instead of an air bed, you do actually get a mattress (and a very comfy one at that!). His Homestay is functional and exactly what it says on the tin, a rustic homestay where outdoorsy people can come and go from exploring the Brecon Beacons. It’s very similar to mountain huts and is equipped with the basic needs you require, a roof, a bed, a bathroom/shower, kitchen and even a wood burner! He’s a very friendly host too, and I enjoyed chatting to him and hearing about his experiences. This has been one of my most enjoyable and authentic AirBnB experiences!

The Coach is a luxury 5 star cottage designed just for couples. Set in the grounds of a Grade 2* Georgian Mansion this former Coach House has been converted to provide a stunning space for a 1 bedroom cottage
Downstairs the tall ceilings and 10 foot tall glass French doors gives this space grandeur whilst upstairs the low beams and soft lighting ensure the perfect cosy hideaway dream bedroom. The kitchen/diner is contemporary in design with granite worktop and there is underfloor heating throughout the cottage. An arched opening leads through to the sitting room which has a modern free standing Charnwood wood burner as the centre piece, positioned against the exposed original stone wall with light flooding in through the large French windows. Rugs and deer skins adorn the oak floor and with the mood lighting it gives a real sense of decadence to this room. There is also a Smart TV, Blu-Ray player (also plays DVD’s and CD’s), Wi-Fi and books and magazines provided for your enjoyment. The bedroom has exposed oak ceiling timbers and a natural stone wall, with a super-king black wrought iron bed. Across the landing is a sumptuous bathroom, fully tiled, with a double ended bath – perfect for sharing, a walk in shower with thermostatic controlled lighting and doubles sinks, Philippe Starck chair and champagne cork side table. If you can bear to leave the comfort of the cottage than patios on both east and west side of the property ensure you can always catch the sun.
The Coach is in a beautiful setting. With walks from the cottage door up onto the peaks of the Brecon Beacons or strolling along the canal there are walks for all abilities. And after an energetic day, or a day curled up in front of the roaring log fire a 5 minute walk will take you to an excellent village pub and restaurant The White Swan Inn.
  • Honestly such a lovely stay! I spend so much time looking into air b and bs so we don't stay somewhere that isn't comfortable, but I did not go wrong at all with this find! Peter has such a lovely home. The space was so clean, great little touches and it has everything you could possibly need and more. You will want to come home early from your day out just to spend time in the place. Lots of local tips and maps from Peter when we first arrived. Super huge comfy bed (set your alarm otherwise you won't wake up). Large bathroom with the best bath and shower. Will 100% stay again soon as a beautiful area as well. Thanks again Peter

    Danielle2019-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • The Coach is absolutely beautiful. Interior and exterior, everything on point. Stayed here for a whole week during the May half term. Kitchen was fully equipped, with new & sparkly clean kitchen appliances. I was able to prepare home cooked meals & soups for my daughter who’s studying for her A levels. As for the bedroom & bathroom, they were luxurious. Just as in the pictures. The surroundings of Ty Mawr Cottages is just picture perfect. What a gem. Thank you Peter for being a great host. We hope to be back soon.

    Jessica2019-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • The Coach is amazing and perfect for a long weekend in the beautiful Brecon Beacons. The flat had everything you could want and Peter was full of good recommendations for the local area. We'd definitely like to come back again.

Stylish holiday cottage for 4 people in the heart of the Brecon Beacons, just two miles out of Brecon. Danyfan Cottage is beautifully well equipped with a private garden beside a babbling brook. It is warm and comfortable with a wood-burning stove and underfloor heating powered by an environmentally friendly air source heat pump.
Danyfan Cottage is just two miles from the market town of Brecon, with its theatre, cinema and a good array of shops. Guests have some of the best walking and cycling in Britain on the doorstep.
  • We spent a long weekend in Danyfan and would thoroughly recommend it. Emma and her husband are very welcoming and were happy to chat to us about local walks and bike rides. The cottage has the most wonderful comfy beds, I personally had the best night’s sleep I’d had in months. Everything is there that you need; the kitchen is well equipped. The location was ideal as we were planning on going up Pen y Fan and could walk direct from the door. A beautiful spot and a little gem!

    Marian2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Emmas place, it was so peaceful and relaxing. Its located in a beautiful area with great views all around and even a stream next to the house. Emma kindly bought us homemade brownies and bread, which were both delicious. Perfect spot to explore Brecon Beacons, definitely recommend. Thank you for our stay!

Immaculate accommodation with lovely touches such as the wood fire, fresh coffee beans and a file full of local tips, taxis, pubs and restaurants. • Beautifully decorated cottage with a luxury feel in an amazing location. Peter was helpful and welcoming and the cottage was clean with a beautiful flower arrangement of local flowers and the kitchen had everything we needed. We went for walks in the Brecon Beacons from the doorstep and you can also get onto the canal easily from there and there's a useful local bus service and nice small towns nearby. Would definitely recommend it.

  • Myself and my Husband spent a long weekend in The Cottage for our 1st anniversary. We were absolutely amazed with the place and the location and cannot wait to come back again. Peter and Alexandra have thought of everything, it truly felt like a home away from home and was simply stunning. Attention to detail was absolutely outstanding and we couldn’t think of a single thing that was missing. The location of The Cottage couldn’t be more perfect with easy access to many walks/trails and of course The Peaks (there are some beautiful views of The Peaks as you arrive). There are many options of things to do in the area and numerous restaurants to visit for dinner, but if you don’t want to venture out then The Cottage is perfectly equipped with a cosy log burner. Thank you so much Peter and Alexandra, we’ll definitely be back :)

    Robyn2018-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I stayed at the cottage with our dog and we absolutely loved it. The cottage looks lovely on the photos but it's even more beautiful in real life. It's decorated to a high standard, very cosy, clean and has everything you could possibly need for a self catering holiday. I loved the dressing room! It's just beautiful. The shower is very powerful, great after a long day walking. Note - the bed has a goose feather duvet and pillows, I personally really don't like these as I find them too hot, noisy and uncomfortable, so I struggled to sleep. If I'd known I'd have brought a duvet with me, however my husband slept perfectly fine so it is down to which you prefer. The cottage is in a very quiet location, we stayed here to get away from the fireworks on bonfire night as our dog is terrified of them and we didn't hear a single one. It's so peaceful. Peter, is a fantastic host. He greeted us on arrival and was very welcoming and chatty and gave us some really good information about the local area. If you're looking for a relaxing weekend away in a cosy cottage with beautiful surroundings then this is your place. We couldn't recommend it enough. We can't wait to visit again in the future.

NB PLEASE SEE PROFILE FOR CORONAVIRUS PRECAUTIONS UPDATE. The Sage Hut is a traditional well-insulated design set on a sturdy all-metal chassis and wheels. It enjoys lovely views to the south with its own peaceful small yard/garden accessed from your own private car parking space. Sage Hut has its own small kitchen area with running cold/hot water, it enjoys mains electricity and the shower/loo is approx 30 m away and small fridge in stable. The woodburning stove is highly efficient.
One or two horses are usually in quite close proximity, either in the adjoining field or in their stables. There is no actual cooker but a barbecue is available if required. Tea, coffee and continental breakfast is supplied (it would be appreciated if you could indicate in advance if this isn't required or any special requests like gluten free bread). An information pack gives details of helpful local eateries, pubs and shops. Guest comment: "What a great place you have here. So glad we're able to use it" "Difficult to tear ourselves away right now" Guest comment: "Thank you for a lovely stay, I will definitely be back".
The famous Brecon and Monmouth canal is only a field away for tranquil walks or bike rides (approx 4 miles into Brecon). Talybont on Usk reservoir is 3 miles to the east with stunning walks in the forestry around it plus waterfalls just to the south. Hay on Wye is only 14 miles away with its famous Literary Festival, book shops, market and unique style all of its own. There are outdoor activities on offer at Llangors and Cantref for ropeclimbing and horseriding. And Crickhowell, dubbed "The Chelsea of Wales" with its cafes, pubs and unique shops, is also close by. We are in the foothills of the Beacons so day walks from our door open up a myriad of places to choose from. Or the cities of Hereford, Cardiff and Newport are about an hour away.
  • Lovely stay at the Sage Hut again, really cosy this time of year with the log burner. Fran is a really helpful host and the location is great for the Beacon's.

  • A lovely setting from a lovely host. This shepherds hut is well worth a stay and all the local attractions are very accessible. Highly recommended!!

    Richard2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • If you’re thinking about booking this place, then definitely do it! Fran is an outstanding host and was very generous with the food provided, which included some yummy jam and marmalade. The hut was cosy and peaceful and I was woken every morning by the birds singing! The horses and cats were lovely entertaining neighbours and the whole trip was a delight. Other reviews mention the wonderful bathroom which I agree is 5*, complete with a selection of toiletries. The location was great, peaceful but still close to Brecon and main roads to other places. All in all this is one of the best stays I have had and I would love to go back if I am in the area! I thoroughly recommend also the waterfall walks which start from Gwaun Hepste car park, only ~30 minutes drive away.

    Sarah2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • It is no surprise that Fran is designated a super-host! The hut is a marvel and the bathroom beats most hotels I have stayed in! And Fran is wonderful and caring and was very kind to us and we can't wait to go back!
