Places to stay in Llanfor

Places to stay in Llanfor
Situated in the grounds of Caerau Gardens, a charming and unusual bolt hole for a couple to stay in. With under-floor heating, a Sauna and a large screen and projector! The surroundings are stunning we even have a lake for fishing, swimming or perhaps kayaking. We’ve just gone “smart” with Alexa and fun lights! We are high in the hills, 5 miles east of Bala on the edge of Snowdonia, in easy reach of all that has to offer Self isolate here, could be the best place to be!
Sauna and projector with large screen for films, it has a slot for dvds and vga connectivity for a laptop, we have some films. Very comfortable large mattress accessable by ladder above sauna and under a velux window to the stars. Everything you need in a compact and stylish space. BBQ and seating area plus a new deck with more chairs and table overlooking the view. There is even a sunken trampoline outside your door! If you would like a really remote farmhouse have a look at Tyn Llyn by our lake for 2 people or maybe children camping. No electricity! But quite a spot! Or Tai Isaf if there are more of you, so remote you need to borrow our4x4 unless you have your own. For families of up to 6 but there is electricity and heating, certainly no neighbours!
The area: - Bala is a fairly small town of about 2000 inhabitants but it has all you need in the way of shops and is about 5 miles from us. It has the lake railway and of course the lake. Sarah and Mark of bala water sports can help you out with that and all sorts of activities, see their web site. There is white water rafting on the Tryweryn too. A lot of visitors do Snowdon, it is an obvious choice but there are lots of less crowded mountains too. Loads of other walking choices of course and a lot of people just stay and walk from the door. We have 600 acres of hill, mountain and valley and our lake. On the land are stone circles and flint aged/Roman camp “Caer Euni”. The lake is 18 acres and good for swimming. There is a kayak you can borrow and course fishing for pike and perch, we can find you some tackle. We also have a couple of mountain bikes for you to borrow. Elsewhere in Snowdonia there is so much to do that web searches are your best bet but lots of coast obviously and castles. People love “zip world” and “bounce below” they need booking. Food: - the bryntirion pub in Llandderfel or really special food at the Tyddyn Llan or Pale Hall. Rhug isn’t bad either and there are good Indian restaurants in Bala and Corwen. We can do meals for you until about 6.30pm and in the season our cafe is open until 5 anyway. I hope this gives you some ideas to research! Toby and Stephanie
  • Enjoyed a wonderful two-night stay in the pigsty. Set in incredible Welsh countryside compete with spectacular views, it was just the kind of retreat we needed. The accommodation is fantastic, with the sauna offering a perfect welcome home after a long walk and the projector a great addition for film nights! We loved the resident dogs, who enthusiastically accompanied us for a walk and also Trump, the friendly duck! Toby and Stephanie are great hosts and extremely welcoming/helpful. I'd have no hesitation recommending the Pigsty to fellow travelers :)

  • Absolutely amazing place. The hosts were amazing and the stay was fantastic Toby was extremely helpful and friendly, lending me a fishing rod so that i could fish at their lake. The hospitality was one to remember and i can't recommend this stay enough!

  • Would highly recommend - fresh homemade bread and their own eggs provided a really nice touch! the bed was really comfortable and everything was sparkling clean!

  • We both had an amazing 3 days in the pigsty, everything we needed and more. Friendly arrival with a fresh homemade loaf of bread and free range eggs, which was so welcoming after our long journey. Waking up every morning to beautiful scenery and surroundings. The pigsty has underfloor heating and a sauna to keep you all toasty for those cold cosied up nights. Would highly recommend, especially for those who are looking for a quiet getaway. If you’re an animal lover, the owners dogs are very welcoming and playful, you can even have a local walk and they would love to tag along. We will definitely return x

  • Lovely people, a unique spot, romantic setting for the girls, gadgets for the boys!

    Mark2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at the pigsty from 17th to 20th of February 2020, during storm Dennis! Despite to battering wind and rain, we had a wonderful stay in the cosy pigsty. The initial communication with Toby on booking to accomodation was great and the directions we were given were very easy to follow. Once we arrived we were met by Stephanie with a loaf of the most delicious warm bread. She was incredibly friendly and helpful and gave us some good tips for during our stay. After settling in we were taken on a tour by the lovely dogs, who showed us to the lake and back. Such good service! The accommodation is so cosy. The underfloor heating is a great touch. I was initially concerned about the tiled floor in the winter but the floor kept a constant heat and the place felt really warm for the entire stay. The gardens surrounding the property are beautiful and we'd have loved to see them in full bloom and are considering returning to do just that. . We loved hearing the bird song in the morning and got a nice view of the stars from the window in the bedroom on the first night. We enjoyed some walks around the area, including the lake and beyond (the dogs will take you). If you didn't want to drive during your stay, this would be entirely possible as there are some lovely walks surrounding the property. If you walk beyond the lake you come across a lovely waterfall and some beautiful views. The sauna and projector are great touches and make the place feel more luxurious. We especially enjoyed a sauna after a long walk in the wind and rain. Very comfy bed, we slept so well every night. If you want to get out into the countryside for peace and quiet, go on some lovely walks and get away from it but still enjoy some luxuries and comfort then I would highly recommend the pigsty. • The most wonderful location, the most wonderful space to live in and very exceptional hosts. Myself and my boyfriend were wanting a peaceful weekend away for Valentine’s, and although storm Dennis didn’t allow us to explore the area well we still had the best time. The pigsty itself is such a brilliant space to be in for the weekend, the sauna was an amazing amenity and the nice touch of fresh bread and eggs on arrival really made this weekend special.

    Emily2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Easily the best AirBNB I’ve stayed at. The Pigsty is everything Toby has described, but somehow so much more. Comfortably surpassed my expectations. You can’t argue with freshly baked (and still warm) bread upon arrival, gorgeous scenery, a private sauna, heated floors throughout and Trump the duck. The last one you’ll need to get acquainted with yourself, don’t let the name fool you.

  • We had a great stay at the carpenter's cabin over New year. The cabin is in a good location for walks and there are a couple of shops nearby so it's not too remote. The grounds are very peaceful and we enjoyed using the hot tub on the night time. This is a real plus. We had a couple of minor issues with the oven and shower but Mel and mick were quick to show us what to do so this was resolved on the same day. They are friendly hosts and the cabin is finished to a high, clean standard. Thanks for an enjoyable stay xx

  • Excellent hosts and excellent accommodation in a beautiful setting.

    Jo2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wonderful place so quiet and in a stunning location. The views are beautiful and the accommodation is brilliant. The cabin is spotless and spacious with all the facilities you need. It felt like ever detail had be thought about. Such a wonderful place we'd highly recommend it to anyone. The location is rural but with lots of things to do and places to visit close by, some within walking distance. Lots of wonderful local restaurants to visit but the cabin kitchen also has everything you'd need to cook for yourselves. We will definitely look at coming back.

As seen on Channel 5’s Holidaying with Jane. This simple yet elegant cottage provides self catering accommodation for up to two people in a beautifully tranquil location of Bala, North Wales.
You enter this converted stone, keepers cottage through a painted lavender door into an open plan living area. A small but well equipped kitchen is immediately opposite. A traditional Belfast sink and wooden work surfaces compliment modern appliances including a dishwasher and built in convection oven. A small fold out table for dining sits under a flat screen tv just to the left. Continuing around the room you come to the original stone inglenook that now houses a lovely log fire. A comfortable two-seater sofa faces onto it. Wooden flooring with under floor heating and tastefully chosen ornaments creates a sense of style and grace. Some impressive hardwood double doors lead us through into the bedroom area. Shuttered deep-set windows fill the room with a beautifully soft light. The high vaulted ceilings adding to the feeling of space and serenity. You continue through a second door into the spacious bathroom. A large enamelled bath with separate shower cubicle sits on a quarry-tiled floor. A great place to soak and relax at the end of a long day in the mountains.
Bala is a charming example of a welsh market town. A wonderful mix of traditional welsh culture and contemporary shops and cafés. The surrounding area has long established itself as a Mecca for adventure activities. Sailing, kayaking and windsurfing can be enjoyed on Bala lake and the world renowned Tryweryn white water centre is just on the outskirts of the village.
  • The cottage certainly lived up to expectation! The biggest selling point has to be the location - the view of the surrounding countryside is stunning. The cottage itself was well-equipped and tastefully decorated. We particularly enjoyed the wood-burning stove and the bathtub with a view of the mountains! Flora provided us with excellent recommendations of local places to eat and to explore. A relaxing stay in a very quiet rural location.

    Darryl2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is just wonderful. We stayed here for Valentines weekend and it was absolutely perfect! The decor made the place feel so homely and it was full stocked with everything you could need. The log fire and bath looking out the window where such a cosy addition. We had awful weather (storm Dennis) but this didn’t bother us in the slightest as we were happy to stay in and enjoy the cottage. Flora even left us a bottle of red to enjoy! Couldn’t recommend this place enough! Thank you again we will definitely be coming back ☺️

    Hannah2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Had a lovely 3 x night stay at this stylish cottage. It's high ceilings & decore make the place feel bigger than what it is. The weather was not on our side but it didn't make any difference to us. It's nice to get back to the cottage & cosy up in front of the log burner. Flora was kind enough to leave us a lovely bottle of red & some fresh flowers. It was a shame to leave but we will definately return.

    Amanda2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • This place is awesome. Quiet. Secluded. Great inside. Has everything you need. Flora, the host is fantastic. Kept us informed and gave us accurate directions to find the cottage. Easy check in all thanks to info given. Recommend to everyone.

  • We stayed here for a weekend for a family birthday. This is a lovely cottage, it’s really big which means everyone has their own space but also enough space to be together. The bedrooms are all spacious and beds are comfortable. There is everything you need for your stay and plenty of crockery/kitchen utensils for everyone. The setting is gorgeous, surrounded by fields and nature yet just a few miles from Bala lake. I would highly recommend staying here.

    Marie2019-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • Rebecca's home was just like her warm and filled with happiness... We will never forget her house as it's was just perfect for a big group like us... The interiors and the amenities were just out of the world.. Each one of us wanted a home just like that...the 4 days we spent there filled with laughter and fun.. It's a perfect gateway especially for families as kids also have lots of playing spaces outside.. I can think of anything that could have been improved at Rebecca's...Fellow traveller's this apartment is definitely a steal!!!l

A stunning Grade II listed town house in the heart of Snowdonia. Only seconds away from the centre of Bala where you can enjoy lovely independent shops, cafes, restaurants and bars. Gorgeous interiors inspired by Italy, Wales and the Scandinavian countries. Proper coffee always available! Llyn Tegid (Bala Lake) under 10 mins walk, and other amenities within Snowdonia easily reached by car. I look forward to meet and host you.
Period houses don't need too much gloss - they are beautiful as they are. It will always be my ongoing project to try and get the interiors right. Wales and Italy are my heaviest influences when choosing interiors, however I see myself changing the rooms again, and again in the future! I love to experiment and I will always adapt. I hope you can feel and enjoy the warm, cozy happy Welsh vibe when you stay!
Bala is a busy market town with stunning surroundings. Llyn Tegid is a must when visiting the area, also Bala Lake Railway is also a memorable experience.

Gloriously situated at the end of Bala Lake, this delightful holiday property, next door to the owners’ seasonal coffee shop, has a lovely decked area from which to admire the stunning views across Wales’ largest natural lake. Fishing is available on Bala Lake (or Llyn Tegid to give it its Welsh name) and a licence may be purchased locally. Stroll to the end of the lake and catch a narrow gauge steam train on the Bala Lake Railway, along the lake shore to the pretty village of Llanuwchllyn. The market town of Bala is close by and offers several pubs, restaurants and cafes within walking distance, as well as a nearby leisure centre and shopping facilities. Located in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park, you can take the mountain road over to Lake Vyrnwy, an experience in itself, or the easy route to the beach at Barmouth, just over 25 miles away.

  • I was on a canoeing course based around Bala - the place was ideal for my needs, with a microwave, fridge and toaster, so I could generate essentials on food. Excellent value for money, and for a couple would have been even better value.

  • Got fast reply and a warm, friendly welcome to the flat. Next door if needed anything. When to got there heaters wear on and a heated blanket. Mentioned to Jess that it was our 3 year anniversary and they got us a card, chocolate and flowers which was such a nice touch. Went above and beyond to make us feel at home. Can’t wait to come back in the summer! Highly recommend stay

Whether you're on your own, a couple or a larger group, Tan yr Hall apartment is perfect. You'll have your own space, privacy and quiet yet be just yards away from the shops, bars and restaurants of Bala, the entry point into Snowdonia. A five-minute walk gets you to the beautiful Bala Lake and the town is as central to everything in North Wales as you can get, equidistant to the coast and places like Portmeiron, where they filmed The Prisoner, the flat wilds of Anglesey and mighty Snowdon.
Tan yr Hall apartment is special because of its proximity to everything Bala has to offer. If you wish to go out for a drink or a meal in the evening there is no need to worry about how you will get home. Yet in spite of its centrality, it is private and quiet thanks to its double double glazing and position between two quiet buildings. The apartment is full of art works, all of which are for sale (prices on the back). If guests wish to purchase, please call me on 07825169299 and I can arrange for the artwork to be paid for and packaged (and couriered if necessary). For maximum flexibility the king size bed can be split into two - just unhook the bases at the head and foot of the bed.
One of the remarkable things you'll notice is that Welsh is the prominent language used in the street, the shops, bars etc. In fact 80% of Bala residents speak Welsh and all education is carried out through the medium of the Welsh language. But don't worry, everyone speaks English as well. Have a go at some Welsh words: say diolch (deeolck) instead of thank you, bore da (boreh dah) for good morning. A very useful word which can mean OK, right or yes is iawn (eeaoon). It's not as bad as it looks.
  • A fantastic apartment with everything you need. It was a really good size and accommodated 5 people comfortably. Great location in the centre of Bala with shops and restaurants along the road. Also very clean and tidy. We really enjoyed our stay!

  • Great location , lovely cottage with a lot of space , games and books were very welcome when we were inside with 2 young children

  • The photos of this great cottage don’t do it justice. We had a really fantastic stay - 5 adults, 2 infants, and 2 doggies all slept most comfortably and the communal areas were great. Check in and out couldn’t have been easier and we had all the info we needed to enjoy the local area. Highly recommend for anyone wanting a place to stay in Bala.

    Kate2019-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely spacious home, nice and close to the town amenities, Very clean and the host was super help to ensure we could find, park and access the house. We all would certainly stay again.

    Duncan2019-04-28T00:00:00Z
  • A great house in a great location. The house is located in the centre of Bala just behind the Main Street where there is plenty of shops, pubs and places to eat, and is just a ten minute stroll to the lake where you can go swimming, have a picnic or go on the steam train. The old school house had everything we needed for a long weekend, with plenty of space for our family of 6. Thoughtful little touches such as the bottle of wine and biscuits and tea, sugar and coffee. Even bin bags and washing up liquid... just the little things that meant we didn’t have to go and buy them as soon as we got there; so we got to make the most of our family weekend away. Annmarie was so helpful and even called the morning before we arrived to explain how to find the house, where to park etc. It just made our weekend very laid back and relaxing. We can’t wait to go back!

Terraced house on small estate, rather quirky decor, close to Bala Lake 4 miles. Quiet. Car handy, but not essential, there is public transport.Very rural!Edge of Snowdonia Nat.Park, though Mountain is 30 miles away.Whitewater rafting, walking, canoeing
Home from home,...I don't have central heating from choice, but heaters are available for bedroom and bathroom if necessary. The guest bedroom benefits from hot water pipes that run from the fire in the kitchen to underneath the floor in the bedroom, on their way to the hot water tank. The decor is kitsch and cosy, definitely not minimalist..... I would ask guests to read as much info as is available to them so as to know what to expect. I have tried to be as thorough as possible with all my information, and hope I haven't missed anything!...
Very peaceful, rural setting. Some lovely walks around the village. Great local pub, The Bryntirion, which serves very good local food at a reasonable price, about 10/15 mins walk from my house. Bala is 4 miles away, and has lots of cafes/restaurants.
  • Great place to stay and very friendly host

  • We can't recommend Serena and her beautiful home enough! From the moment we arrived until the moment we left she was thoughtful, accommodating and a genuine delight to be around. Her house is full of lovely, quirky touches and everything has a story - it's brilliant to talk to Serena about them and what they mean to her. Our lovely room came with a huge, comfortable bed and lots of lovely touches and her breakfast was fantastic! We really enjoyed sharing a bottle of wine with Serena in her back garden in the beautiful sunshine (rare to have sun in Wales!) and listen to her many wonderful tales of travel, art, her career in showbiz and her love of cats. Serena is a wonderful host and a wonderful person - someone the world could do with more of! Thank you Serena and we hope to come and stay with you again soon!

We are a brand new small self catering holiday apartment set in the charming market town of Bala in the Snowdonia National Park. Argraig is a peaceful break away from life and its demands. It can be used as a hideaway or as a base to explore. Our ground floor flat accommodation sleeps two, parking and wifi. Contemporary in design but not at the cost of comfort. There is a real home from home feeling; a light and airy living room/dining area with patio doors. The bedroom has a generous ensuite.
We are situated in Bala town a small stroll to the local restaurants, shops and the famous Bala Lake. You can hike, canoe, sail, kayak, bike and the list goes on! Or come back to our cosy apartment and sit in front of the fire with a nice glass of wine.
  • We had a great stay. Well appointed, comfy and cosy accommodation. Mari & Dan are really friendly and we appreciated their recommendations. We enjoyed drinks in STORI and a meal in Plas Yn Dre. Great central location for exploring some breathtaking sights in addition to Bala including Snowdon, Vyrnwy, Llangollen. We also went to Portmerion and Harlech. Just a shame Wales didn’t win the match!

  • A spacious static caravan in a beautiful setting. It was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay. There is a long well made track up to the cabin which was no problem for my small car. Lindsey welcomed us as we arrived and made sure we knew how to use everything, which to be honest was not much different to most other similar places. We went for a walk through the forest after we arrived. There are lots of animals which would be great for kids to see. We were only staying one night but it would be a great base for longer stays

    Sally2019-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had a brief overnight stay at this home, but still managed to see the animals and take a walk though the forest. The location is stunning and wonderfully remote, though the forest track was even. It posed no issues for our estate car. Lindsey was lovely and helpful. The caravan is dated as can be seen in the pictures, but is well equipped and clean. Its August and we left the door open whilst unloading the car so we did see two flies, but nothing out of the ordinary. After reading a recent review I was worried there would be significant wildlife joining us! The caravan does not smell like a new car, more like an older model, which is entirely what we expected and not unpleasant. We didnt manage to master the shower in one day, but managed to get clean. Really good value, great host and a fabulous location. We wished we had longer to explore as our children were fascinated by the animals.

    Julie2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Everything as described. We liked the place very much.

    Joanna2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful location with wonderful hosts. The landscape is amazing and it’s so quiet around the caravan. The caravan itself is a well thought out space with all the things we required, comfortable and practical. Just what you need to relax away from the world in this wonderful landscape. Pat and Lindsey were wonderful, indulging the children with talking to them about all the wonderful animals they have. We were all wonderfully excited to hold Hooter the owl, something that really topped off a wonderful holiday experience. A shame we had to come home, we really enjoyed our stay and have been talking about coming again!

Ty Beic is two, one bedroom holiday cottages perched on a hill above the tiny hamlet of Sarnau, near Bala, on the edge of the Snowdonia National Park. These two restored stone barns are a magical place to stay all year round providing a perfect base for exploring North Wales. The Stable is a one bedroom, dog friendly cottage with exposed beams and stone walls. It is furnished to a very high standard with a certain offbeat charm
My two cottages are furnished to a very high standard with a certain offbeat charm. The character of the original farm buildings has been retained with exposed beams and stone walls but with the technology to keep you snug in the winter and cool in the summer. The underfloor heating, thick stone walls and double glazed oak windows keep the cottages warm through the coldest winter – making them enticing places to which to return after a day in the wild outdoors. The living area has a comfortable sofa, dining table and chairs, TV with Netflix, DVD/Blueray player and music system with DAB radio and bluetooth. The kitchen has a hob, oven, microwave, toaster, fridge and a full range of cooking utensils. The bedroom has a superking bed or two singles, depending on your requirements. The en suite bathroom has underfloor heating and a shower with plentiful hot water. There is a patio area with a BBQ, a garden area with seating and access to our grounds, where you can use the fire pit or just sit and stare at the beautiful Berwyn mountains. There is private parking, secure bicycle storage, bike wash facilities and a laundry which also has a shared freezer. Bed linen and towels are provided. Please see my listing for 'Ty Beic Holiday Apartments - The Barn' for information about my other cottage.
Ty Beic in the hamlet of Sarnau, 4 miles north east of Bala. Bala has everything you would expect to find in a small market town including banks and ATMs, Post Office, pharmacy, two small supermarkets, butchers, greengrocers and numerous pubs, cafes and restaurants and an excellent craft beer shop. Slightly further away (5 miles) is Tyddyn Llan, a Michelin starred restaurant in Llandrillo, and for spectacular views as well as delicious food I would recommend the Lake Vyrnwy Hotel (10 miles away). The 'local' is the Bryntirion Inn, 3 miles away in the village of Llandderfel. It's very friendly with great beer and good food. In the same village is Pale Hall, a country house hotel and fine dining restaurant.
  • Quaint cottage in a beautiful rural location, excellent hosts

  • A great place to stay. We really enjoyed the location which is easy to get to, but you feel off the beaten track. Lots of walks and things to do nearby. The stable was kitted out with everything we needed and despite the storm, it was lovely and cosy.

  • Karen's stable conversion, Ty Beic, is a charming bolt-hole on the edge of Snowdonia, with lots of original rustic details and decorated with eclectic taste. Perfect for a short weekend break, especially cosy when it's blowing a gale. Thanks Karen!

Sorry to all of our customers but we are closed until further notice due to the national coronavirus crisis. We hope to welcome visitors back to beautiful Snowdonia as soon as possible.
This recently renovated room is perfect for couples, or just friends, to come and enjoy the beautiful countryside, with a comfortable stay in a historic setting. We love cooking and will provide you with a great breakfast to set you up for the day's activities. With a little notice we will try to cater for any dietary requests you may have. Where possible our food is locally sourced and the bread and jams are home-made. Eggs come straight from a local farm, and bacon and sausages are from the local butcher on the High Street. We have another room, the Meyrick Room, which is separately listed, so if you did want to book two rooms, please view the other listing
Bala is a thriving market town with a good choice of pubs, restaurants and cafes, as well as many artisan businesses, all within a short stroll from the workhouse. The town sits at the end of Lake Bala (Llyn Tegid), the largest natural lake in Wales and one of the most beautiful settings anywhere.
  • We had a brilliant stay at The Old Workhouse. Our hosts were welcoming and hugely helpful in recommending places to visit and eat in the area. The room was superbly clean and the bed was really comfortable meaning we had a great sleep. To top it off, the breakfast was delicious! Thanks again, we will be back!

    Libby2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautifully decorated old workhouse that we felt honoured to stay in. Ian and his wife were extremely friendly and gave us the best local tips. The B&B is right around the corner from Bala high street. There is parking across from the B&B and we felt safe with a coded iron gate that locked behind when going into the courtyard. The B&B is extremely well decorated and our room was beautiful. It was so light and airy with a comfortable bed. The room had all the amenities and the shower was the perfect temperature. My husband and I browsed in the shops before spending most of our afternoon in a craft beer pub called Stori. There are activities locally too but we just had a chilled weekend, going for walks by the lake, eating pasties and drinking local beer. Ian cooked up a delicious breakfast for us, with locally sourced sausages and bacon. The coffee was really nice too! The perfect weekend get away in a beautiful B&B with very friendly hosts and stunning scenery.

  • Beautiful property in a great location within Bala. Ian and Georgina are fantastic hosts and we’d certainly book back in if we were ever staying in East Snowdonia again.

  • Myself and my girlfriend had a marvellous stay while traveling to visit zipworld. Ian and Georgina are fantastic hosts and absolutely lovely people who could not do enough for you. The room itself Is very clean, spacious, and well decorated. Had everything we wanted. Breakfast in the morning was just a lovely extra touch. We would 100% visit again if in the area.

  • Spent the weekend at the Old Workhouse in Bala and it was fantastic. The room was amazing, unique and very clean. We were recommended local places to eat and drink by the hosts and Bala is a lovely town. The hosts are fantastic. They both made us feel very welcome straight away. Breakfast is great, locally sourced meats, homemade bread, set in the open kitchen. Really good value for money. Cant recommend this place enough, have already recommended to friends and family and will definitely stay again in the future. Thanks again, Sam and Milayla

    Sam2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Expect to be warmly welcomed and treated like family. They really go above and beyond what you could hope for an air bnb, making just an overnight stop on the way to our weekend- one of our highlights!

    Josh2020-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect stay. Spacious room in the beautiful Old Workhouse and Ian and Georgina are brilliant hosts who made us feel very welcome. Breakfast in the morning was delicious too.

  • A lovely cottage in fantastic surroundings. Yan and Bernie are both fantastic hosts who make an effort to welcome you and see you off safely. Hosts were attentive yet unobtrusive . The cottage is simple, yet has everything you need. Extra marks for the decent mattress too (the first in any AirBnB we've taken), very comfortable. Fresh towels supplied, every room was clean and fresh. Heating was on upon arrival with the woodburner ready to go. Parking is right outside the cottage and safe. Local area is just stunning with plenty to do. Highly recommend the pub not too far up the road. Great food, reasonable prices and the locals are very welcoming.

  • Great communication from host and directions led us straight to the door. Yan and Bernie are thoughtful hosts and the cottage is warm and cosy. The wood burning stove adds to cosiness. Pretty part of Wales. Worked out well for us.

  • Yan and her husband were really nice hosts, the cottage was lovely , beautiful, and nice location and she provided some great cupcakes ! We had an amazing stay and hope to be back again!

    Ravi2019-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • This has got to be one of our most serene and relaxing trips. We literally woke up to the sound of birds chirping, and clean fresh air. The owner's home is right beside our place, so it was really easy to sort things out if we needed anything. Kitchen utensils, beds and bathroom were all clean. Water pressure for the shower was good too. Parking was not an issue. Over all, a recommended place to stay! Oh, and thanks for the cupcakes!

  • We had a really nice time there. Yu Yun and Bernie were very kind and they gave us some welcoming cupcakes when we arrived. The caravan was nice and cosy and very warm. There is a radiator in each room. The beds were comfy and there was plenty of quilts. The pub around the corner made dinner for us even though they had already closed the kitchen. They were very kind. I definitely recommend the place. It´s perfect if you want to visit snowdonia and you don´t want to spend too much money in accommodation.

Escape from everyday life with a break in our stunning cottage, with panoramic views over Bala Lake, the Berwyn Mountians, Aran Fawddwy and Cader Idris. A secluded and cosy cottage for a couple or two, two couples or for families.
Come in through the front door and experience the under floor heating! Hang your coat in the porch and continue into the hall/dining area. On your left is a cosy bedroom with ensuite shower room. The beds are zip and link so can be two singles or a comfy king size bed depending on your preference. Go back into the hall and up the stairs to the Master bedroom suite with a light and airy bedroom with views over bala lake. Sit in the king size bed and gaze out of the window with a cup of tea! The large ensuite bathroom has a spacious shower and double-ended bath with ample space for two and a great view up the hill as you soak with a glass of wine . Saunter back downstairs, turn right into the kitchen with oven, microwave, hob, fridge, freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. The units are handmade and the wooden work top made from Iroko wood with a huge belfast sink in the middle. Go on into the sitting room with a double size door out onto the terrace. Sit just absorbing the view.
Beautiful and tranquil countryside. Peace and quiet.
  • We stayed in this property for two nights with group of friends. The place is amazing. The views are stunning. Total privacy. Flora’s personal touch is so thoughtful. Highly recommended!

  • This house is beautiful. The location is idyllic, the house itself is beautiful and actually better than the photographs. The first glimpse of the view from the living room was truly amazing. The house is clean, well stocked and plenty of room for two couples without being in eachothers space all the time. The wine and flowers left for us were a lovely touch. Communication was excellent and Floras directions meant we found it easier than expected! We will definitely be coming back as we felt we didnt have enough time to make the most of it.

  • Flora’s place is good for the soul! Gorgeous view, private without being remote and beautifully renovated. The kitchen is well equipped (I made Christmas lunch without scrabbling around looking for utensils!) and everything is clean and well considered. Little extras like a Christmas tree, bottle of wine on arrival and wood burner essentials made it even more special. A great find!

Wonderful for couples or a family with 2 children. Just east and high in the hills above Bala and at one end of our isolated "Long-house" is this cosy self contained cottage. Stunning views from over 1000 ft with the use of our gardens and also our lake for fishing, swimming and boating. We have over 600 acres of moors, hill and mountain countryside. Large screen and projector for films and woodburning stove in sitting room. Self isolate in the hills, Bala so far is virus free.
It is a great location for a couple or a small family, with little need to go elsewhere. It is also a convienient base for the mountains and beaches of Snowdonia and everything else this great area has to offer. One room with king sized double, and one small room which will sleep 2 children, a cot is available. We do not take groups of 4 adults. You can walk or cycle from the door and fish or kayak on our lake and return to the wood burner and a film. We find it difficult to describe how wonderful the whole situation can be for a family with small children, just here in the grounds of the garden and woods, there is also the land to explore with its lake, stone circles and flint age camp! Coming back to base there is a projector and screen for films and a smart tv and wii, also games and books in the cupboards or on the shelves! If you would like a really remote farmhouse have a look at Tyn Llyn by our lake for 2 people or maybe a couple with children camping. No electricity! But quite a spot! Or Tai Isaf if there are more of you, so remote you need a 4x4 or borrow ours.
Yours Toby and Stephanie

  • We had a wonderful time staying at The Hovel. It’s set in a fantastic location with spectacular views, lovely gardens and plenty of space for the kids to play. The place feels very homely and the log burner, board games and library of books and films are perfect for a cosy night in on a autumn evening after a day exploring north wales. The freshly baked bread, eggs and fire wood were a nice touch and made us feel right at home. We thoroughly recommend.

    John2019-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you for hosting us in the Hovel and finding space to put us up at short notice on Sunday evening at the house by the lake where we received a warm welcome of a glowing Woodburner in the living room and candles to fund our way up to bed, with fantastic views in the morning overlooking the lakeside. The location and gardens are wonderful to explore as well as great walks in all directions for the house

Glan Y Gro provides holiday accommodation in a unique lakeside location on the shore of Bala Lake - nestling amongst the trees and offering stunning views across the lake and of the surrounding hills. Ideally located to participate in outdoor activities and water sports (we have our own slipway for boats) and also for unwinding, watching the many varieties of birds and the passing quaint narrow gauge steam train. All this only 1.5miles (2.4km) from the town and its amenities.
Through our main reception, and down a flight of stairs and turning right, the entrance to Vyrnwy suite is found by turning right at the end of the corridor. On entering the suite the kitchenette/dining room is to your right and your king-size bed will be seen facing from you and from which you will have partial views of the lake and grounds from your pillow. The bedroom is furnished with oak wardrobe and vanity unit (hairdryer provided) and two leather tub-chairs. The bedroom additionally provides a 43" LG Smart TV - complete with wifi internet connection and a Netflix account. The kitchenette is equipped with quality kettle, toaster, nespresso machine, Panasonic flat-bed combination microwave oven and refrigerator. Sharp knives, cutting boards, tea-towels and detergent are also provided. The bedroom has patio doors leading onto a private (side of the house) balcony that provides views of the lake, grounds, and the small-gauge steam railway. Your en-suite has a large walk-in shower, heated towel-rail and a set of quality towels, handwash, bodywash/shampoo are also provided. * We kindly request that guests who wish to use their own toiletries ensure that these are 'gentle' and 'kind' to the environment as we are on the very shore of a protected lake and have our own waste management system *
Glan Y Gro is in Snowdonia National Park. We are only 5 minutes from Bala town, and yet being on the B4403 Llangower road, and 1.5 miles from the town centre, our location is peaceful, tranquil and offers a prayerful retreat for those so inclined... With the town so close, supplies and other amenities are within easy reach.

  • We stayed in Robert and Anne Marie's beautiful B&B over the Christmas break and it was just what we needed. The room we had was spotless, the view was breathtaking and it was so peaceful. We will be booking again to go back 🙂

  • Spotlessly clean, spectacular views, great local knowledge and very welcoming! Couldn’t fault the place or the people!

    Beckie2019-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • This really is a unique and beautiful place. The AirbnB photos really do not do justice to the location which is directly on the shoreline opposite to itself. Waking up to see the view across the lake to Bala and the mountains beyond is stunning. Robert's place is beautifully presented and provides all you need for a comfortable stay. We were personally greeted and offered plenty of helpful advice about where to eat, local attractions and walks etc.

    David2019-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • Great location by the lake and only a short walk to the town. Will definitely stay again when in the area next.

  • Roberts airbnb is locates in a stunning spot with sweeping views of the lake. He was friendly and very helpful in helping us make the most of our stay. The room was pristine and I mean not a spec of dust in sight so a very well kept and stylish place indeed! Would absolutely recommend for a nice weekend or few days away.

    Joseph2019-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely weekend! We were provided with lots of great recommendations of places to eat and see, and were made to feel very welcome. • Great location, just off high street and walking distance to shops and restaurants. Parking on street no problem. House had plenty of space for 2 families (9 of us in total). Liam kindly let us check in early so we avoided driving in Storm Dennis! We spent more time in house than planned due to the storm but house very comfortable, log burner great and we had a lovely break.

Tyn Llyn is situated high in the hills by the lake that gives it its name. A very remote location and a very basic small farm house. NO electricity! The surrounding countryside, night sky and peace and quiet. You have the lake and 600 acres of private land to explore. This could be a self isolation solution! We can even handle groceries for you! Bala is clear so far too.
So much of the space is outside really, but downstairs there is a cosy sitting room with the essential wood burner and small kitchen. Upstairs a double bedroom with plenty of rugs on the bed and a small bathroom with conventional suite. The cottage is really for a couple but it is possible for a family to have children camping outside with a safe retreat if necessary! Lighting is mainly by candles although there is potential for 12v electric lighting via a battery we charge. The cooker is gas and there is a gas fridge. Heating is all from the wood burner and that tends to be kept going all year and most of the day too if you can, we do have logs but you can also forage for wood too. The water supply is from the lake and for washing plates and the loo etc. So you collect tap water from us on your way past in containers. You are welcome to come to us for a shower.
We are on the edge of the Snowdonia National Park, with all that has to offer and Bala has its own huge lake and white water rafting on the Tryweryn. Many people just stay here getting provisions from Bala when needed.
  • Beautiful location with exactly what was described! Stephanie and Toby were great too with making sure that we were comfortable and had enough firewood. The dogs

  • Tyn Lynn is a very comfortable cottage, once it’s warm! A great cottage with only the essentials. It’s situated in a beautiful location with the occasional sheep and cow. Wonderful hosts and amazing place.

  • If you want peace and quiet, remote and beautiful wilderness of Wales then this is it.Take plenty of your own candles.

    Sharon2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • Not the place to visit if you need all mod cons.. this is a for dreamers, poets, wild free spirits and anyone who values stepping out of the wheel of modern day life. You could be stepping back in time into a Hardy novel (if he'd set them in Wales), look around and there's nothing to tell you you've left the 19th century - oh, ok, there's a gas cooker and plentiful hot running water (it comes straight from the lake). Toby and Stephanie offer a great service to the world in sharing this little piece of paradise. Come prepared to chop wood and carry water... and enjoy.

    Justine2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • What a fantastic couple of days, just gutted we weren't able to stay for a week. Incredibly friendly hosts that went out of their way to make us feel welcome and answer any questions both whilst we were there and before we booked. But honestly it's the location itself that is really special. Loads of private land to explore and a lake to kayak or fish and endless opportunities to have fires and bbq's miles away from anybody. Beautiful views, no light pollution and no noise pollution, no worrrries! All bolstered by the excitement of keeping the fire going and having candles lit (which also completely transforms the aesthetics of the place to a lovely cosy cottage) (also good to mention their are some lights in key rooms to make your stay easier but we found we rarely used them) We will definitely be back! Thank you Stephanie and Toby!!

The cottage has its own Private entrance, and is decorated to a professional standard, well equipped with all you should require. Whilst the cottage is in a very secluded location it is situated well within reach of all Snowdonia has to offer, ie Water sports, walks, Activity Centres and local amenities.
The location of the cottage allows for privacy and seclusion with the ability to explore the 300 acres of farmland belonging to the property. If you are interested in wild life the area has an interesting array of birds and other creatures.
  • Absolutely stunning property for a relaxing weekend

  • I booked Aaron's place as a surprise for my boyfriend for his 30th birthday. Both the location and the cottage were stunning and we had the most wonderful time here. Check in was quick and easy, Aaron was very responsive to messages and his mother who picked us up from the village was a delight. Could not recommend this gem more and will definitely be returning but will plan to stay longer next time!

  • Fantastic little cottage for a quiet romantic getaway. Everything inside you need to make the stay special. Also with the town a 1 minute drive up the road, this made getting groceries etc very simple and easy. On arrival Mel had left the cottage in an outstanding way, all clean and laid out to perfection. Heating and lights left on for us which made it feel warming and welcoming! Definitely be coming to stop at this cottage again, it was perfect! Thankyou very much for the hospitality

  • Mel is the friendliest host with a great knowledge. Her standards for her cottage are high and it was pristine when we arrived! They are available for any help needed but as the cottage is separate, you also have space to be alone. It was an ideal location for all the activities we had planned. Couldn’t recommend highly enough!

They were very keen for feedback on how they could improve anything for future guests but there was nothing we were really able to provide. We would highly recommend it and would definitely stay again, thank you both for a lovely long weekend.

  • Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Wern Ddu. The location was perfect for us as we paddle boarded in the lake (5 mins - car) and rode the trails at Coed-y-brenin (25-30mins - car). It was quiet and peaceful with views over fields. Clean and tide on arrival with all the facilities we could of needed. Bala town has a good selection of shops including butcher, green grocer and a charming micro pub.
