Daisy Lodge is set in the garden of our beautiful country home, see location photo for proximity to our home. We are 3.2 miles from the wonderful market town of Abergavenny, gateway to the Beacons National Park. We have amazing views of Skirrid Mountain and countryside. You can roam freely around our 5 acres of land/garden,which in summer benefits from a flower meadow. We supply outside furniture and sole use of our external hot tub, all year around, a disclaimer to be signed prior to use.
Please do not ask for less than a 2 night stay as it's not possible to accommodate this request. We offer storage for cycles, we can lend you maps and give personal knowledge of the local bike parks and activities in the area. Daisy Lodge is a beautiful 1-bedroom bespoke, ecological building, which is energy efficient and produced in Lapland, Finland. The property benefits private access, off road parking and is finished to 5* standard, with the use of a hot-tub all year round, providing a waiver has been signed. We have installed a brand new and improved hot tub for 2019. Please do NOT adjust the settings on the hot-tub or move or close any of the jets. We provide designer bedding, bath robes, smart TV, Wi-Fi, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble Dryer, luxury shower, mobile reception for most providers and breath-taking views. We also provide an external sink to clean boots and a boot rack, and deck shoes if required. There is also a bioethanol fire, we provide the first bottle of fuel if you require more you will need to purchase prior to your arrival, as no local stockists.
We are very lucky to be located next to a working farm and so we have Cows, sheep and horses as part of our everyday scenery.
  • Lovely spot on the outside of Abergavenny, a short drive to anywhere you need to go. Sugarloaf Mountain is worth a visit. The hotub is great and there is a little outdoor seating area which is lovely, kitchen is stocked with all the pans and essentials for making dinners at home. All in all a lovely Welsh escape

  • Lovely little cottage just outside Abergavenny. Amazing views, stylish place and lots of lovely little touches. Hot tub a definite bonus! Easy to get out and about, and plenty to do in the area. Would definitely recommend.

  • If this place isn't booked up you'll be lucky. And there is a reason for that......its very, very nice. Modern and sleek but cosy and peaceful. In the middle of beautiful countryside, its so relaxing. Very clean, comfy with milk and butter in the fridge upon arrival and a cute little bottle of prosecco, all nice touches. So book if you can, you won't regret it.

  • We booked Daisy Lodge for a little weekend getaway and had a wonderful time there. I can only recommend it. The lodge was spot clean and we had everything what we needed.

  • Claire's place is as beautiful, if not better than the photos. The interior is modern, spacious and very comfortable. They are located amongst fabulous scenery (and down the road to a michelin star restaurant!) and our stay was very enjoyable. Unfortunately, the hot water was not working for the first evening/morning of our stay, but the hosts made up for it with it being fixed fast and a half-day extension to the end of our stay.

    Ben2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent accommodation, super hosts, beautiful setting. Highly recommend.

    Helen2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • This accommodation is done to a very high standard, to the extent we enjoyed staying in more than going out. Both hosts were helpful and attentive and made our stay special. Thank you.

  • I will definitely be coming back as this place is a little cozy gem. Close to a lot of attractions or just a good place to relax.

The 'Cwtch', is delightfully situated at the foot of the Blorenge. Conveniently placed on the edge of Llanfoist village it borders the Brecon National park. The cabin is located in the garden of the Coach House sharing the same parking area. The Cwtch has a spacious veranda which leads to the living space with kitchen and sitting area. From there, there is a bedroom and bathroom with a bed loft accessed by a secured ladder. The bed loft has a stair gate for the safety of smaller guests.
Included in the facilities offered by the Cwtch (pronounced coo - (as in cook) ch (as in church) , for those staying for longer periods or with small children, there is an attached utility room with washing machine and dryer, also large Belfast sink for washing dirty boots, fishing tackle, or kit. There is a TV/DVD player and access to our library of nearly a hundred DVD's, as well as free view satellite TV.
Llanfoist village lies on the edge of the Brecon Beacons National park and Blaenavon World heritage site. Follow the stream that runs through the garden up the Blorenge past the Monmouth to Brecon canal, or down to the river Usk, all within 5 minutes walk of the cabin. Abergavenny, famous for its food festival, is only 20 minutes walk. Or step outside and watch the Velothon come past your door, the Welsh national cycling event. All of these stunning landscapes offer a range of attractions from walking to hangliding, pony trekking and canoeing in the majestic Wye Valley. If you like to eat out, we recommend the Spice Lounge in the village or the Angel, Foxhunter bar in the Abergavenny. There are also Thai, Chinese, Bengali and Gurka restaurants or takeaways in the town. Waitrose is 10 minutes walk, and Aldi or Tesco is a short drive.
  • This is a lovely cozy cabin right next to the Blorenge and an easy walk to town. Hassle free and everything you need.

  • Lovely place to explore Walsh countryside, very good location. Great family walks just around the Llanfoist town, but also not far from highest peaks of South Wales. Only 30 min drive to Pen y Fan. There are lots of local pubs in Llanfoist and the big Waitrose for those ones who would like home cooked meals. Peter’s kitchen is very well equipped and has got absolutely everything you need. Good touch including basic things like tea, coffee, sugar, salt, olive oil and few herbs. Really enjoyable stay, nice and stylish cabin, much bigger than I expected. Thank you Peter!

  • My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our stay in the Cwtch. We were looking for a cosy play to stay during our weekend in Llanfoist and this was just perfect. Right at the foot of the Blorenge mountain means it is the ideal location for anyone looking to go on some scenic walks and hikes and it was also a short walk away from local shops and restaurants in Abergavenny. Peter’s place is perfectly clean and has everything we needed, including a book with local tips and recommendations. We loved the spice lounge!

The accommodation is set in a beautiful rural county side Llanover within the Brecon Beacons, we are situated 10 minutes from Abergavenny town centre. We are pretty rural so a car is advised.

  • Incredible apartment - highly recommend it!

  • Great location. Even though it is out of the way, we felt comfortable and safe coming in and out. Being out of the way was also an advantage because you are surrounded by scenery. The place is Perfect for watching the sunrise. Thank you Leann for helping me in sorting out the little surprise, really appreciate you going out your way to organise that. It was a lovely stay overall.

    Beenish2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a real gem of an apartment. Stylish decor, fantastic quiet location, really well equipped apartment, clean, tidy, secure everything you could ask for, and as for the leather sofa ...well what can I say, I wish I was sat on it now. Oh and thanks for the Welsh cakes, really yummy.

Old Abergavenny Road Llanover, Abergavenny Monmouthshire, United Kingdom

*NB Min of 4 guests in holidays pls use contact host* A quirky converted Baptist Chapel in the Brecon Beacons, 15mins from Crickhowell and Abergavenny with a secret story and lots of sleeping options. Warm in winter with thick stone walls that are calming and quiet. This is a simple place to detox from busy lives. Cosy nights in front of the wood burner with friends or family. A place to read, play the piano, listen to music, sing, cook or just do nothing. Cycling, walking, from the door.
Hugh’s Chapel comprises of two self-contained but adjoining spaces, suited to a romantic or special weekend for two or a get together with family and friends, up to a maximum of 8 persons. We just let to a single group and expand the space available depending on the group size. By default for bookings up to four persons you will be in the main chapel. If you are a bigger group then we will expand out into the Sunday School area through the pulpit door which is normally kept locked. If you are four and particularly want both parts we are happy to discuss and the best thing to do is contact us through contact host option. Unfortunately its difficult to cover this flexibility within airbnb pricing system at present. We try and make it affordable for small and large groups. Hughs Chapel is the main part with the main double bedroom with lots of sleeping possibilities for fold out beds in the main chapel. There are lots of little corners if you want some time to yourself or to read a book. Its great acoustically and listening to music is wonderful. But its the feeling of those thick, calming stone walls that is really special and the light that comes in through the windows at different times of the day. Its simply furnished but comfortable. From that point of view its easy to relax into the feel of the Chapel. The Chapel’s story is also something unique but you will have to find that out for yourself! Through the adjoining pulpit door are the Sunday School Rooms which houses a double Bedroom with arched window and nice views, family bathroom with bath and shower, back door, stairs leading to upstairs third bedroom / living room with foldout double sofa bed and is spacious. Off that space is a small fully functioning kitchen with great views of the black mountains. There is a set of french doors onto a deck area with views of the black mountains that leads onto a private garden with trampoline. This area gets a nice drop of sunshine from late morning until the sun sets.
Friendly and welcoming, quiet apart from lots of sheep on the hills and cows in local farmers field so sounds very rural. You will be warmly welcomed into the local pubs You can hear the streams in the background. Very old industrial archaeology tramways, railways, quarry working, iron works hidden in every corner. Hidden valleys, beech woods, small waterfalls, lots of birdlife, Owls at night, Cuckoos, woodpeckers, peregrines. Despite this very good links to Abergavenny 15mins by car and only 25mins by bike downhill ! So good base to go and explore the rest of the National Park or further a field Cardiff, Gower Peninsula, Forest of Dean, Wye Valley.
  • Ivan is a fantastic host and hughs chapel is absolutely beautiful. It was storm Dennis so we just started in and played games (there are plenty in the house) in front of the log fire. It was a well deserved rest. Occasionally we looked outside but it was still raining - there are walks and cycle paths from the door . The kitchen is well equipped and the rooms are very comfortable. My daughter loved her mezzanine hideout . We will be back soon we hope and next time in the sunshine !

    Elizabeth2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Ivan is a great host. Thoughtful touches, excellent communication and a wonderful location. We were warm, comfortable and had everything we needed for a great stay. There was freshly baked bread awaiting us on arrival and plenty of firewood supplied for the couple of nights we were there. Lots of space and a well-equipped kitchen in a very special building. I have no reservations at all in thoroughly recommending Hugh's Cottage as a top notch destination.

    Carl2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place, Ivan is so thoughful with fresh bread in the oven for us on arrival. He provided us with so much information regarding the local area!

    Hannah2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • The chapel is a stylish place with musical history located in the beautiful welsh countryside. Ivan was on hand to show us around, give local tips and had even baked bread for our arrival. We had a hugely productive and fun weekend in an inspirational setting! Would recommend!

    Tom2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Lovingly restored converted chapel in a beautiful location with plenty of walks right from the doorstep. We loved the property and felt very comfortable and warm during our winter weekend. Thanks Ivan!

A private ground floor apartment set in the heart of the Brecon Beacons. A perfect country escape to recharge those batteries. The property looks directly onto the sugar loaf mountain from the sitting room window. The property enjoys its own private landscaped garden. Ideally situated for access to a number of popular mountain bikes routes. The property also enjoys door step access to numerous scenic walks for both the seasoned walkers or those who enjoy more gentle strolls in the countryside.
The space has an open plan, kitchen, sitting room and dining room. It is heated by a electric fuelled wood burner effect fire and central hearing making it a cosy, comfortable and romantic place to enjoy rural wales. It has a double bed and a bathroom with a shower. From the back door you can walk out onto a patio and large landscaped private garden so you can sit and enjoy the beauty of your idyllic surroundings and in the evening listen out for the song of the nightingale or the hoot of the owl. There is one pub which serves food and real ales in a 20 minute walking distance. There is also another pub the Dragon's head in Llangenny which is only a five minute drive away which we often frequent - a warm welcome is always guaranteed. The space is nestled in the mountains so is very rural although you can pick up mobile phone signal and 4G and it is easily accessible by car. There is also free WIFI. There are loads of walks right from the front door so you can park up for the stay and take in the surroundings leaving you refreshed to return home. There is another apartment above the property but the two spaces are entirely separate. If you would like to come friends, if available, you can rent both properties which would then accommodate 4 people in total.
We hope that you will love the peace and tranquillity that the countryside offers, except when we are herding the sheep! ;)
  • A lovely, quiet place with beautiful mountains right outside!

  • If you need some quiet time away then look no further - Lizzie's place simply is perfect! We loved spending time watching the countryside around us and meeting Lizzie's lovely animals too. The place is also perfect to visit the beautiful town of Crickhowell - a real gem with all its independent shops. Thank you, Lizzie, for giving us the chance to relax in your cottage - it was perfect for us!

    Justine2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • We loved Elizabeth’s Airbnb- it was a lovely place to return to and had everything we needed. We especially appreciated all the suggestions that she provided us beforehand, as well as the information left for us in the flat with local things to do.

    Megan2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely stay in gorgeous little spot near crickhowell , highly recommend

    David2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Lizzie’s place in the welsh countryside is a delightful peaceful retreat within a stones throw of some of the best attractions in the Brecon Beacons including the big peaks and the four falls trail (worth a trip!!). Very close to crickhowell in which The Bear was a wonderful pub with excellent food (Make sure you try the lamb rump- it was to die for!). Very secluded but excellent instructions will make sure you get to the property even in the dark. Very warm, cosy property with everything you might need to cook for yourself. Only slight downside is it is a downstairs flat, so it can be a bit noisy from the upstairs air bnb habitants even just walking around. Having said that it is in an incredibly peaceful location so other noise isn’t an issue.

    Georgina2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • This house was one of the best Airbnb’s I’ve ever stayed at. The house was lovey and set in the most amazing location, just what we wanted for our relaxing new year, we had a lovely walk just outside the door step which was a bonus! The directions to get to the house were clear and easy to follow. Elizabeth was very helpful and kind when we had a problem. Can’t wait to come back for another relaxing holiday.

A newly renovated cottage in the grounds of a country house close to Abergavenny & the beautiful Black Mountains. Stylishly designed, it retains the stone walls, beams & arched windows of the coach house it once was. It's the perfect place to relax after a day in the Welsh countryside: There's a well equipped kitchen, a cosy wood burner (with a basket of logs & kindling), a smart TV, wifi, lots of books, 100% cotton bed linen, fluffy cotton towels & SenSpa bathroom products. Outside, the kitchen garden is a great place to chill & there's also a private courtyard right next to the cottage.
Court Cottage was once part of the stable yard of the country house to which it belongs. We have recently refurbished it - turning it into a lovely cottage that retains the original roof beams, stone walls, arched windows and doors. Outside, there is plenty of private space - including a pretty courtyard next to the main house, with a table and chairs. Guests can also use the South facing kitchen garden - where there's a bench that's a great place to read a book or take in the views of rolling countryside. There's space to store bikes under cover and an outside tap to wash down bikes, boots and wellies. Inside, you walk straight into the sitting room, which is open to the roof eaves. It has two comfy sofas piled with cushions, a wood burner for chillier days, a digital TV & DVD player, a selection of board games and lots of books & local guides. Through the old pine double doors is the cosy bedroom, with its large arched window and beamed ceiling. It has a king size bed with pure cotton bed linen and a blanket woven from local wool. The bedroom has plenty of hanging space and a chest of drawers (and lots of room under the bed for suitcases etc). There's a digital radio on one of the bedside tables, usb plug sockets and also a hair dryer. Next door is the stylish en-suite bathroom, with a roll-top bath and separate shower. White cotton towels, shampoo, conditioner, soap and shower gel are provided. There's a socket for electric toothbrushes or shavers. The kitchen leads off the sitting room. It has painted cupboards and a marble worktop, together with a kitchen table for two. There are two usb sockets near the table, making it perfect for working as well as eating. A large antique pine storage cupboard houses everything you'll need to cook up a feast (or microwave a ready meal...). There is a microwave, induction hob & oven, fridge with ice box, dishwasher and washing machine. Tea, instant coffee and sugar are provided - and there's also a cafetiere if you're a real coffee aficionado. There’s also salt & pepper and olive oil. We also provide a clothes drying rack, iron and ironing board as well as tea towels, washing powder, dishwasher tablets and washing up liquid. There is wifi throughout the cottage. There is central heating throughout & we also provide a first basket of logs & kindling for the wood burner.
Abergavenny, renowned both for its Food Festival and as the gateway to the Brecon Beacons & Black Mountains, is 4 miles away. There you'll find local shops, a really good butcher and bakery, as well as a great local cinema and some of the best restaurants in Wales. For wonderful walks & cycling, you're spoilt for choice: the Sugar Loaf & Skirrid mountains are very close by, as is the famous Offas Dyke Path.
  • It’s nothing that hasn’t been said before, but what a beautiful place. Quaint setting in a courtyard, peaceful, quiet and tastefully decorated. There’s also a huge stockpile of firewood to keep cosy. Absolutely recommend! (Maybe just take slippers in the colder months as the stone floor can feel cold!)

    Sophie2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was absolutely beautiful. Well designed and incredibly tasteful. The location was very peaceful. I would highly recommend it and will definitely return.

  • A beautiful stay at this stunning cottage. Perfect for us for our birthday weekend. Cosy, beautifully decorated with a luxurious feel.

    Lucy2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Cute cottage - spotless throughout with great bath and shower. Comfy bed and lovely linen. Had a nice time relaxing after walking the nearby peaks. Plenty of places to eat nearby or stock up on food for the cottage. Very easy to find. Thoughtful hosts. Would recommend.

    Penny2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had a really lovely stay at Joanna's beautiful cottage. As the weather wasn't amazing, we mainly stayed in, and felt really at home doing so. There was plenty of wood for the fire provided, the kitchen was amazingly well equipped meaning we could spend lots of time cooking, and the entire place was just really comfortable and cosy. The bath and shower we're lovely - it was very hard to leave!

    Emily2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was beautiful, even better than it appears on the photos. Joanna was also a great host who was easy to get hold of should we need anything. Location-wise there were plenty of shops (Aldi, Waitrose) and restaurants about a 10minute drive away and the kitchen was fully equipped for cooking. There were a variety of local walks a short distance from the cottage, we drove a bit further afield into the Brecon Beacons national park to the four waterfalls walk which was about a 50-minute drive. I'd recommend this AirBnB and would happily come back.

    Greg2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Every detail well thought out and meticulously executed. A thoroughly wonderful place to stay in a beautiful part of the country andJoanna ensured we had everything we needed for a perfect trip.

    Ed2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • My girlfriend and I stayed here for our first Christmas together and we cannot fault the airbnb or Joanna in any way. When we arrived, it was spotless, tidy and welcoming. She even sent us a message to ensure we had enough kitchen utensils to make our Christmas lunch the next day (we absolutely did, the kitchen is very well stocked!). It was a very special place to spend Christmas, and the grounds it's situated on are absolutely gorgeous. We went for a walk around the gardens and it was teeming with woodland wildlife (including the odd pheasant or two). Most importantly, it was absolutely silent! A perfect place to go if you want to get away from the city and hide away for a weekend, or ideally longer. This is an airbnb where the pictures really do not lie. I highly recommend booking a trip so you can see it for yourself. Worth every penny. Side note: my girlfriend accidentally left an item behind, and Joanna soon arranged for it to be sent back to us!

Just 10 minutes by car from Abergavenny but a peaceful country retreat. Simple, modern log cabin with open plan sitting/kitchen/dining with double sofa bed & a double bedroom and bathroom. Away from it all: 50 metres from the farmhouse, away from the road and screened by trees. There are board games, books, toys etc. Garden furniture for sitting out. Farm to wander over. Animals to see. Good places to eat out. Walking in the hills.
The cabin is in the back garden screened by trees from the house. It looks out over fields and gardens. There is one bedroom with a double bed and a sofa that turns into a good size double in the main living space. The kitchen has a fridge, kettle, toaster, small oven/grill, two ring induction hob (new in response to guest feedback). Lots of bowls, pans, plates, cups etc. Please ask if you need anything else. We provide a few cooking essentials like salt and pepper, mixed herbs and sugar. In the bedroom is a full length mirror, hair dryer, iron, lots of hooks for hanging clothes up and some shelves. The bathroom has shower, toilet and basin and a heated towel rail. We provide towels. A travel cot and a high chair are available. The accommodation may suit a couple, a couple with one or two children, or two couples. Wi-Fi is available in the conservatory in the farmhouse or it can be accessed from outside when its warmer. Mobile phone signals are erratic--some people get much better reception than others. The thick pine wood walls offer excellent insulation. Electric heating and electric blanket are available if needed so the cabin can be used all year.
The farm is set in a valley just 10 minutes out of Abergavenny but a world away from the town. We are near the Brecon Beacons National Park and surrounded by farm land where traditional dairy, beef and sheep farms are interspersed with holdings for horses and some chicken farms. There are lots of possibilities for walking, cycling, mountain biking, and other outdoor activities locally in the Brecon Beacons and the surrounding countryside. There's a cycle/walking tarmac path up an old railway line leading from Llanffoist to Bryn Mawr (with a gap). It's easy to walk to Govilon up this track then walk back along the canal towpath to Llanffoist. There’s a short walk to the top of the Little Skirrid directly from the farm. Abergavenny is a lively country town. The main market is on Tuesdays. It's worth visiting the Market Hall just to see the huge decorations which go up each year for the Food Festival. Smaller markets happen over the week. There are quite a few independent shops, loads of places to have coffee, some good places to eat. There's a small, modern two screen cinema (for an old fashioned cinema feel try the Savoy in Monmouth or the Working Men's Club in Blaenavon). The attractive 300+ seat Borough Theatre is housed upstairs from the Market Hall.
  • The cabin is great! And the location is really good! Lots of great places to visit and the landscape is fantastic

  • Loved staying in Tessa's cabin, it was clean, plenty of games, outdoor space for kids and Tessa was an excellent host.

    Lenka2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • A basic but cosy cabin with everything you need. The board games and books kept us entertained in the evening, and the kitchen was well equipped. The location was perfect for the areas we were visiting. I would definitely recommend staying here.

    Wendy2019-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at the cabin for a weekend with our two daughters ages 17months and 3weeks. The cabin was toddler friendly, there is a swing and slide in the garden and Tessa kindly provided a travel cot, there are also some toys and books that were an unexpected bonus! There was plenty of space for us all and everything we needed to have a relaxing time. The hosts were friendly and welcoming and we had a wonderful time. Definitely recommend for families with young children who want a quiet getaway that is toddler friendly.

    Jerilyn2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful place for our family to spend the weekend! The cabin is open and bright, and we all slept well. We made good use of the little kitchen - it worked brilliantly for our simple supper. The farm is beautiful and our children (all of us, really) were in love with everything. Our hosts very kindly invited us to participate in a few of the more fun farm chores, and we said yes to every opportunity! One afternoon we drove the few minutes into charming Abergavenny, and the children wanted nothing to do with it because they wanted to get back to the farm. A wonderful place to stay! Highly recommended!

  • You will get a warm welcome From Barbara. The accommodation shares a front door and stairway, but elsewise is self contained, and Barbara is happy to let you decide how much contact, if any, there is. There is a fridge/freezer, kettle and microwave which we found perfect for our needs. There are local pubs that serve food, more choice is available at either Abergavenny or Crickhowel. The canal that goes through Gilwern provides a relatively flat walking surface and way to enjoy the countryside as an alternative to climbing the many local steep hills.

    Vince2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • The Cwtch is a real find - extremely good value accommodation of a high standard. Barbara is a friendly and helpful host and there is nothing she has not thought of to make the Cwtch a welcoming and comfortable place to stay - I look forward to returning again in the Summer 😊

    Lesley2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Such a wonderful find. The Cwtch has everything we needed. It was clean and warm with comfy beds and plenty of hot water for showers. Tea, coffee and milk were provided, as well as yummy welsh cakes. Barbara is a welcoming and helpful host. Our stay was fantastic value for money and we would highly recommend The Cwtch.

Set within the Brecon Beacons National Park, our place is perfect for walking, cycling and visiting the nearby Bleaenavon World Heritage sites including Big Pit, Blaenavon Ironworks and the Pontypool & Blaenavon Heritage Railway. The charming market town of Abergavenny is only 6 miles away and well worth a visit.
One bedroom with double bed and clothes rail. Shared use of bathroom, dining room and kitchen. The main benefit of staying with us is our location. Set in the Brecon Beacons, in the village of Llanelly Hill, it is a perfect place for those who want to discover the unique beauty of the area, as well as those interested in industrial history and archaeology.
We feel so lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the world. The area has loads of walks and trails and plenty of cycle tracks. We are about 3 miles from the World Heritage site of Blaenavon, a must see for anyone interested in industrial history. Although we no longer have a village shop, there are plenty of shops in Brynmawr, just a couple of miles away. There is a village pub - The Jolly Collier - just 500 metres away. It serves food but only on a Wednesday, Thursday (Tapas night) Friday & Saturday - 6-9 and on Saturday and Sunday lunch 12 - 2.30. It is a lovely friendly place and the food is excellent. Would advise to make a reservation as it is only a small place and gets booked very quickly. I am happy to book for anyone who would like to eat there. The Racehorse Inn is relatively close, and although it can be done on foot, the hill up to it is very steep. They are open every night from 6.30 for meals and serve Sunday lunch 12-3. Again I can make bookings on guests behalf. The Bridgend Inn, in the nearby town of Brynmawr, is another good place to eat. Regular Menu served Monday-Saturday 12 -9pm. Sunday lunch 12 - 4. Happy to book on guests behalf

  • We had a very relaxing and comfortable stay at Dewi & Sarah’s place . The location is just perfect as it’s in town but yet very peaceful plus having parking was a bonus. The cottage is spacious and homely with lots of added finishing touches like a lovely Christmas Tree! Also found plenty of edible goodies in the cupboard and fridge including a bottle of wine for no extra charge. Communication was very efficient. We had a couple of issues which was soon dealt with. Also we were both pleasantly surprise when we had a text from Dewi & Sarah offering us an extra night free of charge as an apology! Would definitely stay at this AirBnB accommodation again when visiting Abergavenny in future and will recommend it to family & friends.

Gaer Cottage is one of two cottages converted from a stone barn built in the 18th century. This peaceful retreat is set in 45 acres of ancient meadow and woodland in the foothills of the Black Mountains within the Brecon Beacons National Park.
Gaer cottage is surrounded by woodland and nature. It is lovely to be able to walk out of your front door on to private peaceful paths and to explore the countryside. Enjoy birdsong during the day and starry skies at night.
Gaer cottage is in a secluded valley in the Brecon Beacons National Park. It is on National Cycle Route 42 and close to the Cwm Coed-y-Cerrig Nature Reserve. Good local pubs include the Crown at Pantygelli and excellent restaurants can be found in Abergavenny - which also hosts an annual food festival.
  • The Gaer was a lovely cottage and very conveniently location. The cottage was clean, warm and very well set up. Belinda was a lovely host and extremely helpful! Would highly recommend

  • Photos does not do this place justice! Beautiful little cottage, which felt bigger in person than on the photos. Plenty of room for us to get around the table in the kitchen. Fresh cake and eggs on arrival. Lots of gorgeous scenery to explore, really recommend climbing to the top of the mountain. Fantastic views at the top! Our dog loved it and even had a spare field for him to roam around in. Five stars. Hopefully be returning soon!

  • I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here, both hosts were friendly & helpful, & a delicious cake was waiting in the fridge! The location is perfect for exploring the area, & relaxing there with the chickens. A peaceful, quiet spot, comfortable house & spotlessly clean. I love the area so will definitely be going back to Gaer Cottage again next time.

    Michelle2019-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Gaer Cottage, we received 6 free range chicken eggs and a freshly baked cake upon arrival! There are some amazing walks in all directions, including one that begins right from the back of the grounds and another just across the road. There is a small shop & 2 dog friendly pubs with food & drink within a 5 minute drive or 30/40 minute walk. Gaer is also dog friendly & Belinda was an amazing host, she made us feel all feel very welcome. We will definitely be visiting again!

    Rowan2019-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • Delightful host, top quality accommodation and comfort. Well equipped kitchen, where we were fine with four around the table enjoying those super fresh eggs straight from the chickens! The home made welcome cake was delicious too. Wonderful location as a base for walking in the Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons. Very dog friendly. Can't fault this stay and can't wait to come back!

Plenty of pubs and restaurants within 3 miles of us . The town's of Abergavenny and Monmouth are only about 7 miles away both of which have cinemas and theatres. There are Castles and Abbeys to visit locally . The town of Bleanavon has a mining museum where you can also go down into the old mines with guided tours. The Brecon Beacons are not far away for those that like to walk there is also the Sugar Loaf and the Black Mountains locally , the walk along the local canal in Abergavenny can also be completed while trying out the canal boat rides for those that prefer it . Coarse fishing can also be catered for locally
  • The photos cannot do this place justice, it was so much bigger than anticipated but also so cost and homely. The fire was a delight. It was the perfect location to have a break from Corona-virus. So isolated and didn't see another person (apart from Zoe and Merv who are lovely) the whole time. Lovely walk so on the door step. Please please stay here in the next few months.

I would recommend abergavenny town, walks up the mountains or The Big pit is also surprisingly interesting. Also close by is Raglan play barn and farm which is awsome for kids. The cottage had everything I needed and I would definitely stay again. Thanks! Wendy

This would be an ideal space for any keen walkers or cyclists. Located between the cycle path, canal pathway and the legendary tumbles mountain this is an ideal base for anybody looking to get outside and explore. Abergavenny is a 40 minute walk along the cycle path, 5 minutes in a car.
  • Absolutely loved staying here! The pictures do not to it justice. The bed is extremely cosy & comfy. The place was spotless and could recommend staying here enough.

  • Hayley's place was beautifully clean and felt so fresh and new. And 'perfectly formed' home is anything but small---the photos don't do the place justice!-- it's really spacious and airy. Especially upstairs (yes two floors!) Really fab space, brilliantly stocked kitchen for all your cooking and baking needs, super light in the lounge, and could accommodate 4 of us generously. Cosy and warm, conveniently close to the lovely canal, and was the perfect base for walks above Llangatock, Sugar loaf and the black mountains. Hayley and family were all wonderfully accommodating and welcoming. Thanks Hayley! xx

  • A very well presented space. Access was easy and well explained and we were left to it. I think due to poor phone signal in the area, Wi-fi would enhance the stay. But apart from that, the place is lovely.

An off grid rural glamping retreat in a hand built oak frame cabin on the slopes of the Sugarloaf Mountain and spectacular views. Enjoy the cosy loft bed and glow of the wood burning stove, wood supplied. There is a posh compost loo and the bathroom is a converted horse box, plenty of hot water and bath with a view. Once there you will enjoy complete peace (no WiFi or signal here) amongst wildlife, a spring fed pond and barbecue area. Steep access down the field; you must be relatively fit.
Bluebell Cabin is on the slopes of the Sugarloaf Mountain in the Black Mountain region of Abergavenny. It is glamping heaven in a peaceful wild field of your own. The owners live at the top of the field. There is gas burner cooking, a barbecue, solar lighting and lots of hot water. The loft bed is a cosy space. An ideal place for walking, cycling, mountain biking, wild swimming or unwinding and getting away from it all within designated dark sky area status.
Forest Coalpit is a tiny hamlet in the heart of the spectacular Black Mountains. We are ten minutes from Llanthony Abbey, a great evening cycle with a welcome beer at the end. The Black Mountain Cycle Centre is ten minutes away with some great mountain biking. We have sheep on site and our cat (Jones) and dog (Spud) are both likely to pay you a visit.
  • Our stay was absolutely perfect. The cabin is beautiful and exactly what we needed to take a breath from our busy life. The little touches and added comforts made the stay even better. Truly the best weekend away we have ever had. The love and attention to the cabin pours out and stays with you. And that bath...!

  • This is a lovely and very relaxing spot. The cabin is beautiful and there are lots of lovely little touches everywhere like cosy rugs and blankets and a light that's perfect for reading on the sofa near the fire. I stayed for 2 nights alone and it was a perfect secluded but safe spot that is close to lots of lovely walks. Anne is a very welcoming host and ensured I had everything I needed. Would definitely recommend.

    Ruth2019-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • A really beautiful and thoughtfully put together place in stunning scenery. Anne is very helpful with tips for things to do and spud is also very friendly!

  • Bluebell Cabin is a wonderful little wooden cabin in a magical valley setting. With beautiful mountain and woodland walks nearby, lots of wildlife and very friendly and helpful hosts in Anne and Dean. Would love to come back again and definitely highly recommend to any couple looking for a quiet and rustic getaway in stunning location.

  • The Blue Bell Cabin was an amazingly place to stay. Totally enchanting and extremely relaxing. Anne was a very helpful and welcoming host. Highly recommended!!

  • We stayed at Bluebell Cabin for a blissful birthday weekend, it's a beautiful and cosy space for tranquil slow living. Everything you need to relax and enjoy is right here ... If it isn't, you probably don't need it (especially WiFi!). Particularly enjoyed toasting marshmallows in the fire, a brainwave extra touch! Will definitely be back...

    Justin2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic weekend. The hosts were very relaxed and the accommodation was fully equipped. We cooked outside on the BBQ and enjoyed baths looking out at the view. It is so peaceful and you can go for numerous incredible hikes straight from the door. Sugarloaf is highly recommended.

    Charlotte2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed for two nights in this beautiful cabin but could have stayed for weeks! It's really spacious and comfortable with so many thoughtful touches - sofa, blankets, firewood, books and games. The solar lighting was just as good as electrical lighting and the hot water supply was reliable - the bath in the horsebox is a genius idea and so relaxing! Definitely climb up Sugarloaf mountain if you can, it's an easy but stunning walk from the cabin. We didn't bring a car, but arranging taxis from Abergavenny was easy enough (around £12). Anne was kind enough to drive us to Crickhowell at the end of our stay as well. Finally, if you like dogs you can hang out with the lovely Spud, an added bonus :)

The town has beautiful public gardens and river meadows. It is also famous for its annual food festival every September. There are two Michelin starred restaurants in the vicinity, and numerous cafés and pubs around the town. It is a centre for art, music and culture in general. Idyllic situation in attractive village just 4 miles from Abergavenny with views of the Brecon Beacons and many walks and bike rides along quiet roads, from the door. Own entrance, to private accommodation, comprising sitting room with wood burner, upstairs landing area with kitchenette, table and chairs, shower room, and one beautiful beamed double bedroom. Breakfast ingredients are provided ( bread, butter, jams, cereals, yogurt, fresh fruit, milk, tea and coffee, many home made and local)
The accommodation is attached to the end of our house, but has its own private entrance, and garden area for your use. It is a characterful old cottage with low beams, sympathetically restored using recycled original materials and individually crafted fixtures and fittings. The kitchenette area is there to provide coffee and tea etc when you want it, and to help yourself to the breakfast items provided. It is not intended as a food preparation area. For your convenience we provide a small fridge and a microwave oven.
Abergavenny and surrounding area has many fine restaurants and gastronomic pubs. Unfortunately the village we live in does not have a shop or pub. It is a very small village. Many good walks and cycle routes both from the door and in the nearby Brecon Beacons, Wye Valley and Forest of Dean. Historical interest and the many local castles of the welsh marches, and more modern industrial history of the coal and Iron industry in the welsh valleys. There are several small market towns within an hours radius which are pleasant and interesting to visit, such as Monmouth, Crickhowell, Hay on Wye, Ross on Wye. Cardiff and Hereford are larger and both about an hour away.
  • Thank you Caroline for a marvellous stay - I loved the thoughtful 'eco' ideas, and the cottage is so relaxing, cosy, peaceful and comfortable, with very attractive decor and finishing touches.

  • Wonderfully light and airy cottage set in beautiful idyllic welsh countryside, immaculately clean, lots of wonderful homely touches and the log burner is a really nice touch. Fantastic area for country walks and cycling. Highly recommended. We’ll be back!

  • We had a lovely stay at Crispin Cottage. Some excellent homemade foods, in a good location close to the town and a very welcoming host!

    Scott2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Where to start? There are so many positive things to say about our stay! From an already lit fire when we checked in to specially made chocolates for our Valentine's stay, Caroline and Mark put in every effort to make our stay perfect. We had some bad luck with flooding due to a storm, but one of their friendly neighbours helped deilver us safely to the cottage. Caroline kindly offered to cook us some pizzas when we thought we wouldn't be able to get back out, and brought round candles later when there was a power cut. In the end it was the perfect place to cosy away from the weather with a board game and a glass of wine. The cottage was quaint and homely, with nice decor just like the pictures. We particularly liked the homemade touches around the house, including wax food wraps which were a nice eco-friendly addition. The food was of course delicious, the freshly baked bread and cake, homemade yougurt and fruit compote, and tasty granola. Much of which you could buy if you wanted to take some home with you. We had a lovely romantic weekend and would definitely return, either as a couple or with friends!

    Joe2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing stay such a beautiful little spot will definitely be returning

  • Best Airbnb we’ve been to! Perfect get away break, beautiful place, wonderful personal touches! Couldn’t fault a thing, and would 100% recommend!

    Oliver2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Crispin Cottage is absolutely delightful! The living room with the log fire is so cosy and the perfect place to unwind after a days exploring or hiking. The main bedroom is really spacious, with a super comfortable bed, plenty of closet space for clothes and luggage and great black out blinds/curtains. The bathroom is very clean with an amazing shower! You won’t want to get out! The kitchenette area is lovely and compact with homemade breakfast goodies left by Caroline such as freshly made bead, scones, yoghurt, granola plus milk, fruit and tea/coffee of all varieties. This was my first experience of using air bnb and I could not have been more impressed! We will certainly return

The Studio is a quiet and cosy detached retreat on an exclusive development yet it is situated just a few minutes walk from the centre of Crickhowell with its tourist office and many interesting shops, pubs, restaurants and takeaways. The Studio was newly let in late 2017 with fresh decoration, kitchen, fixtures, fittings and carpets. The mezzanine bedroom has a comfortable King sized bed.
Full gas boiler central heating/ hot water and highly insulated walls and loft make The Studio a really cosy retreat. Return from a day in the Brecon Beacons to a well equipped interior which includes: Smart LED TV with Freeview, YouTube etc/ Unlimited Fast Fibre broadband/ WiFi / DVD Player/ DAB Radio with Bluetooth speaker facility/ 4G Mobile Signal. Books, games, magazines, DVD box sets and movies provided. New for 2019 is a G00GLE Home Mini to answer questions about the locality. The village has plenty of interesting places to visit, Big Pit and the Iron Works being particular favourites. With good basic shops and supermarkets near by.

  • The cottage was a pleasant surprise in the heart of Blaenavon with wonderful outdoor drives and activities for the family. The host was very quick with communication and support where needed. We enjoyed our stay. Thanks Josephine.

Dating back to 1752 this rustic Granary has been sympathetically converted to retain its original features. Perfect for chilling out or walking, set in our family farmland with direct access to Offas Dyke footpath. Dramatic high ceiling oak beamed bedroom with ensuite. Cosy low beamed kitchen/diner with wood burning stove. The sunroom/lounge makes the very most of natural sunlight with rural farm views.
The dramatic high oak beamed ceiling of the bedroom provides a unique space combined with the modern convenience of an ensuite bathroom. The cosy kitchen/diner (originally where corn was ground in 1752), has a range of modern kitchen appliances including coffee machine. The wood burning stove is available for romantic evenings in and the sun room/lounge makes the most of sunny days.
The nearest village is about a three minute drive away or a pleasant twenty minute stroll across the fields. The local village pub has a great restaurant or bar meals and is open every day.
  • Gorgeous place, loved the sitting room/conservatory. Ideal for a get away to escape it all. Lots of character and lovely homely feel. Welcomed by hosts and bought free range eggs from their chickens. Beautiful part of the country with stunning views.

  • My partner and I really enjoyed our stay at this beautifully unique barn conversion. The space was spotlessly clean and has all the necessary amenities. Fresh bread, jams and butter were provided (delicious, thanks!) as well as tea, coffee and fresh milk. The log burner made the space really warm and cosy as it was a chilly night. The hosts were very welcoming and were on hand to help with anything we needed. A very peaceful and relaxing stay in the Welsh countryside, I highly recommend staying here!

  • The Granary is a great place in a beautiful location. Caroline was a fantastic host and even lit the log burner for us! The Granary has everything you need for a relaxing stay with stunning views. Would highly recommend 😁

  • Sue’s place was great. Just as shown on Airbnb. The fire was a treat and the conservatory great for watching the night sky. Lovely all round - highly recommended.

    Sarah2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you so much for our lovely stay, all we wanted was peace, quiet, and beautiful surroundings which we got, the log burner kept us cosy and we had everything that we needed. Would 100% recommend ♥️

  • A great host, great place, great location. What else is there to say!? Will definitely stay again!

    Matthew2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • We travelled to The Granary in ‘Storm Dennis’ and so very glad we did. It was warm, cosy, spotlessly clean and filled with character. Caroline came over to welcome us, she is absolutely lovely and made us feel so at home. Fantastic location for walking from the door, across owners land to Offa’s Dyke trail past the very vocal donkey 😀 but we spent hours in the spacious sun room enjoying the antics of the hens, the sheep and the hawks soaring overhead. On a clear night we gazed through the roof at the amazing dark skies....incredible!! This place exceeded all our expectations. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Stunning cottage located in a rustic, rural setting. Situated underneath the Blorenge mountain, in close proximity to beautiful walks, the Brecon canal & neighbouring market towns: Abergavenny, Crickhowell and Monmouth. The cottage has been tastefully renovated to a high standard from an old stable block. The cottage is semi detached & neighbours my second holiday cottage - Sugarloaf Cottage. The cottage is cosy, homely, clean & will provide you with the perfect base to enjoy your trip.
Downstairs the cottage has a beautiful open plan space with kitchen, dinning room (seats 4) and living room (one sofa and arm chair). Upstairs there a spacious bathroom (bath only but includes a shower attachment) and bedroom (with draws and a rail to hang clothes). On arrival I will provide a complimentary bottle of wine/prosecco and welsh cakes to kick start your trip. Tea, coffee and other necessities will be available including milk. Please do not hesitate to contact me if there is something in particular you require or if there is more about the area you would like to know. The cottage is the perfect base for a holiday of exploring, whether you venture into the Brecon Beacons, climb the local mountains (Blorenge, Sugarloaf, Skirrid, Table Top), walk the old railway line that runs alongside the cottage or explore the local towns - there is lots to do. The cottage offers a warm and cosy environment where you can really make yourself at home. The cottage offers all the amenities to allow you to cook including plenty of cupboard space, fridge, freezer, hob, oven, microwave and utensils. If you don't want to cook I would be more than willing to recommend local restaurants including the local Indian Restaurant in the village. The Market town Abergavenny is approximately a 5 minute drive (20 minute walk) away and offers lots of lovely pubs, restaurants, shops and an independent cinema. Abergavenny also has a castle and museum which can be visited. The cottage is a short distance from the town Blaenavon which is home to Big Pitt, this was once a working coal mine which you can visit. There is a supermarket (Waitrose) in the town of Llanfoist or further into Abergavenny there are more options (Aldi, Iceland, Tesco, Morrisons). The cottage is perfect for couples, friends, families and business trips. I do not charge an additional price for small children and can provide a travel cot if needed. As the two cottages are adjacent to one another they would be suitable for a party of four and I am happy to take group bookings. Please make an enquiry and I can ensure both cottages can be booked at the same time. ** Please note there is no additional charge for facilities such as parking, use of washing machine & so forth however I do charge an additional cleaning fee for pets, please enquire for details as this charge is dependent on number of pets and length of stay **
The Cottage is situated in a small village just outside of Abergavenny, with a supermarket and Indian restaurant. There is also a neighbouring village with a small shop. The cottage is in close proximity to Abergavenny, a historic market town with lots to offer. The cottage is also within driving distance of other local towns such as Crickhowell and Monmouth which also offer a number of beautiful shops, restaurants and so forth. The cottage is situated on the main property and offers a peaceful place to stay with beautiful views. As the two cottages are adjacent to one another they would be suitable for a party of four and I am happy to take group bookings. Please make an enquiry and I can ensure both cottages can be booked at the same time.
  • Great place well located just outside Abergavenny - short walk into the town and up the surrounding peaks. The cottage is well appointed and nice and clean. The only small negative was the lack of standup shower in the bathroom which wasn’t a big issue for us but may be for some.

    John2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic host, with a property that feels like it offers all the creature comforts you need for a great getaway to this gorgeous area of the world.

    Alex2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is spacious, comfortable and warm - a great base for exploring the area. There is a cycle path for walking and cycling on your doorstop and the canal is 5-10 mins away and is also great for walking and cycling. Abergavenny is a 20 - 25 min walk and is a lovely town - we had some great meals there. Thanks Alison!

  • The Sugarloaf cottage is very nice to stay in with everything you need for a few days away in beautiful surroundings.

  • Alison's place was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Lots of local info available, and some lovely thoughtful touches. Definitely recommended!

  • Sugar Loaf cottage will have all you need for a comfy stay. Alison is very attentive to any needs you have.

    Liz2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely clean modern cottage with great views. Alison popped by to say hello and give us some tips about the area. The local Indian is fantastic and the walk along the canal path was lovely. The Tow Path Inn was particularly nice.

    Michelle2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay in this clean, bright, spacious and very comfortable property. There were Welsh Cakes and wine to greet us, what’s not to like. Alison was a friendly and accessible host who was available to give advice. The property is well placed to explore the area with the Blorenge mountain very close and a good range of outdoor activities within a short drive. Lots of hot water so a bath was especially welcome after a days walking.

Cosy one bedroom studio cottage based on a small family run welsh Vineyard. Set in stunning scenery, on the foothills of The Sugar Loaf Mountain, Abergavenny on the border of the Brecon Beacons National Park. A great base for exploring south wales and ideal if you have a love of hill walking. Set in a rural location but with the convenience of Abergavenny town only 5 mins drive away or 20 mins on foot. Lots to see an do in the area with top class restaurants on our doorstep.
We have 2 one bedroom cottages based on our small family run vineyard. The cottages are adjoined but completely independent from one another, so no interlocking doors, when you book your cottage it's all yours no common indoor areas, only the patio is shared.
The vineyard and cottages are based on the bottom of The Sugar Loaf Mountain but equally we're only a 5 minute drive from town, we are in the country so we have some narrow lanes approaching us but they don't last for long and then your back in town. Some people like to walk in it takes about 20 mins. We're surrounded by green fields and mountains ! It's beautiful here and very relaxing.
  • Excellent location, truly idyllic and so peaceful. Louise is a lovely host, very welcoming without being at all intrusive. Just had a wonderful 3 night stay, our dog loved the babbling brook and we loved the stargazing. Would definitely recommend.

    Ali2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was absolutely perfect for our stay. It is set in a beautiful vineyard surrounded by mountains and hills so everywhere you look you get a lovely view. We had all the amenities we needed and Louise was so incredibly helpful and welcoming to us, even leaving us a bottle of vineyard wine! There is lots to do locally, we really enjoyed climbing sugarloaf mountain. The vineyard cafe does the BEST wine tasting and local cheese platters, highly recommend. We will definitely be back soon!

Our home is in the special small historic market town of Abergavenny in South Wales, known as the Gateway to Wales. It's a perfect base for a walking , cycling or sightseeing holiday. For 8 years we've welcomed guests from round the world. Guests enjoy homemade produce and a warm welcome. We live close to the railway station and to town. We've been Superhosts for the past 5 years!
The room is comfortable and light. In the bay window area, you can sit in comfortable chairs and have a great view of the Sugar Loaf mountain. The bed is UK king size ie 2m long by 1.6m with a very good mattress. (NB In N America this is called queen size.) A choice of bedding is offered. The room has tea, coffee and hot chocolate making facilities and a mini fridge is also available. A continental breakfast is served in the dining room which is for the exclusive use of guests. There is a TV and a digital alarm radio. The bathroom is 1 metre away and is exclusively for guests. It has both a bath and electric shower over the bath. Hot water is always available. There is a further attic room with twin beds if a group or family wish to stay. There is also a cot bed and travel cot available (small charge).
Abergavenny is described as the Gateway to Wales. It is a very attractive small market town which is renowned for its annual food festival in September. There are many places to eat in the area, some quite famous. There are a good range of shops plus a large market on Tuesdays and a smaller market on Fridays and Saturdays. It is growing as a cycling event location too. It is surrounded by three local mountains which can be accessed from our house. There is also a smaller local hill which is easily accessible from our home. It is called the 'Little Skirrid' and is easier to climb but still gives lovely views. The Black Mountains and the Brecon Beacon mountains are all close by. The Brecon canal is less than two miles away and this provides lovely walks or a cycling route. Abergavenny is easily accessible by car or by train. It is less than one hour's drive or an easy train ride to Bristol and Cardiff. It takes around three hours by train to reach Manchester or London.
  • Had a lovely stay here for the Abergavenny food festival. Fantastic hosts, would stay again for sure.

  • This is an excellent place to stay. Minutes from the train station in this beautiful town. Mary and Hugh made me very welcome, they have a wonderful home. Such a treat having such homemade toasted bread, jam and cake. I also am so grateful that you were able to accommodate my vegan diet -much appreciated. I can not recommend this place high enough.

  • We had a lovely 6-night stay at Mary and Huw's place in Abergavenny. They were the ultimate hosts. Everything was comfy, spotlessly clean and charming, with a warm welcome. Mary is a fascinating person to get to meet—she has so much verve and seems to be able to do anything, from teaching abroad to baking Welsh Cakes for us at the drop of a hat. She is very lively, kind, and friendly, and gave us advice and information about the area. She asked us if there was anything else we needed. We had privacy and a bathroom to ourselves. Breakfast, served in a lovely room with bay window and comfortable 400-year-old antique furniture (!), included yogurt, fresh fruit, Mary’s homemade jams and home-baked bread, cereal including granola, and tea or coffee. She even had herbal tea. It was a great way to start the day. There was also an electric kettle in the room, along with treats. It was so quiet and peaceful, and yet only a five minute walk to the town, bus or train. We were able to see and do things without a car (two days we joined a local small van tour, the other days we explored Abergavenny or hiked from Abergavenny, or took a bus/train/taxi to another town or hike). We loved being in Wales and this B and B was the perfect base and really felt like home. I would highly recommend it. (There is a flight of stairs up to the room, if that is an issue of concern.) I’m feeling homesick thinking about it—we would love to come again some time. Best wishes to Mary and Huw, and to those lucky guests who get to stay with them next.

  • Mary and Huw were wonderfully hospitable and super helpful! We were after a comfy place to stay in Abergavenny before heading of to a music festival and their place was perfect! Mary was super helpful despite our late arrival and brief stay (+ bonus home made cake!!). Thanks so much!

  • A lovely place to stay with Mary and Huw looking after us exceptionally. A very nice breakfast, local tips and a very comfortable room close to the station and town. Thank you!

  • Mary is deservedly a Superhost who goes out of her way to make her guests feel at home. The accommodation is very comfortable, she serves a very wholesome breakfast and she is an extremely sociable and knowledgeable person who can give useful tips about what to visit in the area. We would highly recommend a stay with her!
