We recently stayed at Crayke Manor for a family occasion. The accommodation is fantastic, with so much space and character. Ideal for larger family gatherings. The outdoor climbing frame was great for our daughter and the rest of the family enjoyed the hot tub, even in Jan. Justin was really responsive and flexible.

Wow! Just Wow! Just got back from an amazing stay, celebrating my Father in law’s 60th birthday with the family! The place was better than we could ever have imagined! It’s an idyllic place with so much character! There was so much space and with 16 adults and 5 children we were never on top of each other! Amazing reception spaces with the 2 sitting rooms and kitchen! It catered for everyone of our needs. The hot tub was a great touch too. We will certainly be rebooking this amazing manor!

The Manor is even more beautiful and equipped in reality. John and all the staff at Crayke Manor couldn’t have been more helpful or hospitable. This is a truly special place to stay.

We had a fabulous weekend celebrating my partners 50th birthday. The Manor is an amazing place, we felt privileged to be partying there.

Great house!!!

This was the perfect place to house our extended family for the long weekend. Amazing house, very easy to check in and just right for our large group. Justin was extremely responsive to my messages during the booking process and before/after staying there.

The manor is in an idyllic setting close to the village and is a really old and impressive building. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The kitchen was really well equipped and the hot tub is a great addition!

Amazing venue, amazing location, super host, easy check in, clean and welcoming, additional touches meaning you didn’t need to bring your own towels and kitchen items

The cabin is absolutely beautiful, cosy, warm and immaculately clean with lots of character. Beautiful surroundings. Only a 15 minute walk from the lovely village of Kirkbymoorside. We visited for some quiet time out of hectic life. We would book again. Highly recommended.

The log cabin is in a picturesque location on Charlotte and James farm. There is plenty of space for 2 and is a great base for exploring North Yorkshire, near the picturesque Hutton le Hole and in easy reach of Pickering and Helmsley.

An absolutely beautiful cabin, picturesque and just lovely. So warm and inviting. Charlotte and James really have put so much thought into the space. The landscape is breathtaking and the farm animals just made our stay. Our little boy loved his little bedroom and the sofa bed was so comfortable. We loved going out for the day to come back to the warm and cosy cabin! We can’t wait to come back again!

We would thoroughly recomend staying here. It's set in a very remote, peaceful area. A beautiful brook running through the back garden, what more could you ask for. If you're looking for a relaxing break with some beautiful walks and scenery nearby, you'd struggle to find somewhere that ticks as many boxes as this does. Coupled with the fact that you have two wonderful and attentive (but not intrusive) hosts on hand in Katy and Skot. All in all, a wonderful place to visit, relax, unwind and recharge the batteries. We'll be back in the summer, when mother nature is a little less cruel lol.

The cottage is absolutely beautiful and in a really gorgeous location. My partner and I loved sitting in the armchairs in front of the big French doors, admiring the scenery and listening to the stream. The cottage is remote enough that you can really settle into nature, but there are also plenty of shops, pubs, cafes etc nearby if desired! Katy and Skot were such warm, friendly hosts and they made us feel so welcome. Katy knows the local areas well and provided some lovely recommendations for nearby cafes / restaurants. We would 100% recommend a stay here to anyone, and really hope to come back again ourselves to experience its beauty in the summer :)

What a gorgeous and tranquil location off the beaten track! It was so nice listening to the stream whilst falling to sleep accompanied with the odd hoot of an owl. The cottage was sparkling clean and well stocked of the essentials, it was cosy and warm even during a colder month like January. The hosts were very thoughtful and considerate and we couldn’t have asked for anything more.

A very remote location so perfect for hiking, stargazing, and exploring the beautiful surrounding towns. We went in winter and still had a gorgeous time, we made a fire pit which warmed us up! They were lovely hosts and went out of their way to get us what we needed. They also had a very cute dog & baby :) will be going back here!

Great place for a retreat - lovely to wake up to the sound of the river. We had great fun watching the wildlife from a cosy cabin!

Alex’s house is a sweet, village cottage, in the centre of Helmsley, which is itself, one of the best preserved traditional villages in Yorkshire. The town has all the things you need, good food, beer, local flavour, shops with great local crafts and arts. Alex’s house has all you need and you get the chance to experience that old cottage magic, with an open fire and a cat to boot! You’ll love it.

Excellent find, great little cottage, old and quirky, just what we wanted. The cottage is a little extra special at night time, lovely lighting and so cosy. The garden compliments the cottage and parking is ample.

A lovely cottage in a great location close to town but quiet. Pretty garden and eclectic decor, all very quirky in a well designed small space, perfect for two. Comfy bed and bathroom. Everything you need, including good WiFi and up to date tv. We loved the walk to Rievaulx and the abbey, the brewery tap just down the road (great beer!) and the atmosphere of the town generally.

A cosy and quirky cottage, which is 2 minutes walk from the centre of picturesque Helmsley but still feels really peaceful. There are a few low beams which my husband hit his head on, but what would you expect when booking a cottage :-) Alex is a great host. She greeted us and gave us all the necessary information. The cottage has everything you would need and she even left tea, coffee and breakfast stuff. Helmsley itself is lovely. We enjoyed eating at mannion & co and also testing out the local pubs and Helmsley Brewing co. We did the walk to Rievaulx abbey which was great.

Fabulous cottage, about a mile out of village on a private country track. Walkable but recommend a torch and stout boots. Very peaceful, lots of wildlife to see and great place to just hang, sit in garden, read a book, ... relax😴

This place is beautiful. A little out of town but don’t let that stop you! It’s about 5 minutes in the car and 15-20 minutes by foot (uphill on the way back however!). Helmsley is a delightful village with plenty of shops, pubs and food shopping. It’s only about 50 minutes north of York. The property is beautifully appointed, clean and has some lovely little touches. We stayed over Christmas and it was delightful. The bedrooms are gorgeous and a very workable kitchen. Terrific hosts, check in is very easy and their communication is great.

It is a small house in the middle of an extraordinary estate on the outskirts of Hemsley, full of cozy details. Great hosts!

This is an absolute little gem. Louise and Richard are lovely hosts. The breakfast was outstanding and made to order at restaurant quality. The carriage itself is steeped in history and has a magical feel to it that my little lad and I really appreciated. This was a truly memorable stay at such a magical and unique place - it was a complete surprise, despite the good description of the Railway Carriage on the website, to see the level of detail retained from the original structure and the incredibly tasteful way in which it has been decorated to enhance its charm. Set in a gorgeous garden, the ambience as soon as you open the gate is wonderful. Louise and Richard were lovely hosts and breakfast was delicious. We had a memorable stay and would recommend this place to anyone wanting to do something a little querky. Absolutely great!

Our little girl is really into trains so we thought staying in a train carriage would be fun for her and she LOVED IT! it was a magical experience. Helmsley is a very picturesque town. We particularly enjoyed the wall garden. The carriage has a little garden space & outdoor swing seat which we used for tea time & story time. Louises garden is very pretty & her breakfast was incredible!! We stuffed our faces. Thank you so much for such a wonderful stay. I will recommend the carriage to friends & family. Very special.

We stayed in the Railway Carriage with our 5 year old and really enjoyed it. The carriage itself provided us with a comfortable, cosy and charming space and we soon felt at home. Louise and Richard are very friendly and welcoming and their home-cooked breakfasts are amazing! It is ideally situated for wonderful Helmsley and we recommend it highly !

Olivia's house is absolutely perfect. We felt so at home and fell in love with the place instantly. It is a amazing space with everything you could possible need and more. The location is perfect literally a 2 minute walk to pubs, shops, restaurants and cafes. We would highly recommend this, extremely good value for money, home from home.

A real hidden gem. A beautiful cottage with a really thoughtful host who went the extra mile and made our honeymoon stay so special and memorable. We were very fortunate to be the first Airbnb guests in the lovely home. Olivia is a fantastic host, very thoughtful and brilliant at communicating with us. The house is wonderful. Great town centre location, garden, parking, wonderful sitting rooms and wood burning stoves ( with fire guards) , a fantastic kitchen with everything we needed and the beds were very comfortable and the place was sparkling clean. A real gem of a high quality holiday rental. Our two toddlers were very well catered for with equipment and cots and toys.

Helmsley is a great location for anyone wanting choose for relaxation, coastal walks, country walks, good food, shops and easy access to tourist attractions within 15-30 minutes drive. The flat is clean, very spacious, great location if you want to park up and walk everywhere for a week and chill out.

Perfect spot to relax and explore Helmsley and beyond. Very high standard of accommodation with some lovely touches from your hosts to make it very easy to relax and enjoy. Will be back and would definitely recommend - even better than the pictures and description.

Perfect location in the heart of Helmsley.

What a fantastic flat! Great location, very clean, really comfortable, warm and cozy. Street parking was a nightmare but luckily the flat comes with off road parking at the back, taking the stress out of things. My partner and I had a wonderful few relaxing days and was just what we needed. Highly recommended.

Lovely little cottage in the middle of the countryside, we saw lots of pheasants and sheep which was lovely! The cottage is big enough for two and was very clean, we loved the brick wall and the electric fire to have cosy evenings in.

Fantastic weekend break. Lovely friendly hosts. Spotlessly clean. Everything u need provided even enough milk for a welcome cuppa and biscuits. Bed very comfortable shower was fabulous. Views were beautiful. Really would this to everyone.

Lovely hosts, the lodge was warm, clean, and felt just like home. Everything was thought of from hangers to makeup remover to butter and milk. The personal touches were lovely and would definitely recommend.

We were already excited to stay here after reading the reviews and seeing the photos but we were still so much more impressed when we got here - the location is perfect, the house is sparkling clean and so nice!Keith and Melanie made us feel at home so much and the personal touch with the sign for our anniversary and rose petals upstairs were such a lovely extra touch! We walked to the Fairfax Arms after it was suggested and it was a lovely walk and not too far! The hot tub was the icing on the cake, with the fairy lights and looking out into the woodland - it was the perfect atmosphere for a getaway! Definitely recommend - I’ve already had friends ask me for the name of this place after seeing photos - we would absolutely return again! :)

Perfect accommodation, we planned on going out for the days we stayed but lounged around the entire time due to the chilled surroundings. When arriving Melanie greeted us and was very welcoming, the personal touches were brilliant. The barn is very stylish and comfortable. The hot tub is amazing. Kay’s communication was quick and friendly. The cottage is exactly as described. We were unable to stay for long, due to the nature of our visit for a funeral, but it did just the job in order for us to rest after a long days travelling.

Lovely, clean accommodation on a working farm. My sister and I went with the intention to explore with the dog and Susan offered numerous suggestions which we were most grateful for. Susan cooked up a lovely breakfast for us each morning and there was also a local pub just a stone throw away! Susan and her husband were very welcoming and friendly. We couldn’t have asked for more! We stayed here for 1 night with our dog. The room was clean and comfortable. Susan recommended we book at the pub before hand if we wanted a meal which we did and it was superb. Had a lovely nights sleep and the breakfast the next morning was fabulous

A wonderful lodge, sparkling clean and stylish. It is cosy, but perfect for two people. It had everything we needed, plus thoughtful touches like bread, milk, orange juice, chocolate biscuits etc. Very nice, would certainly recommend.

What a gem of a place to stay. We went for a meal at the star Inn and Jane's please was a stone's throw away. Fantastically clean well equipped place. Bread, milk, coffee and biscuits a lovely touch. Will definitely recommend.

We had a great couple of nights at Saxton Lodge. Everything was immaculate and Jane kindly left fresh bread, milk, coffee and loads of other nice touches which was unexpected and lovely to arrive to! Both pubs/restaurants in the village are a stone’s throw away and it was a really nice base to explore the local area. It was perfect for us (with 4 month old baby). Highly recommend and hope to return ourselves.

We were not disappointed with our lovely stay. Owletts is just perfect , the attention to detail is so good you just cannot fault it. It was warm and cosy the bed linen was soft and beds super comfy. The kitchen worked well for our lazy breakfasts. The village pubs are great and so close it's a dream. We will be going back as there is so much to explore. Thank you to our wonderful hosts!

We booked last minute with our two young children, super happy to find something so nice at short notice. The cottage is beautifully done, all brand new, stylish with bags of character and absolutely spotless. Lots of thoughtful touches from Anna & Reece like milk, muffins, logs and even wine! Luxurious bedding and fluffy towels provided, even TVs in both bedrooms (to the kids delight!). Stove kicked out so much heat it was glorious. Could have easily stayed a week. Really nice village with a lovely pub a 5 min walk away. Can't thank the owners enough for being so welconing, will definitely be back again if you'll have us 😀

Anna & Reece’s cottage is everything you could want & more for a relaxing stay in the peaceful countryside. We arrived late in the evening unexpectedly thanks to traffic. But yet we were still greeted by a very welcoming Reece, who had popped the heating on for us ready for our arrival which was very much appreciated after a long cold drive. Inside is the most immaculately sparkling clean cottage, but still has a very cosy feel to it. We had all the amenities we could have possibly needed and more. Outside the cottage are plenty of countryside walks, Reece also recommended a nearby pub which served excellent food. You are also in driving distance of York. We couldn’t recommend The Owlets more, and we will definitely be back to stay again!

Lovely and stylish accommodation with character. Anna and Reece were very welcoming. When they had an issue with their boiler it was fixed so quick that without the updates they gave us we wouldn’t have even known they’d had a problem. Exceptional! Don’t hesitate to book.

Beautiful cottage in the Yorkshire countryside, close to many places to visit and discover on foot or by bicycle. Helmsley with its wonderful park, York with its typical architecture, Howard Castle, Whitby on the sea and Scarborough. The cottage is ideal for 3 or 4 people, warm (we were at Christmas for a week!) And collected but with everything you need and in any case bigger than what we expected. It is very accurate in detail and very clean. There was a welcome gift (red and white wine, tea and coffee, milk in the fridge and dry pastries) very appreciated. We didn't see Karen, but she was very kind and quickly replied to the messages.

Jean and John’s annexe is simply THE best value we have ever had from Air BnB - beautifully run, great attention to detail and complete comfort, cosiness and privacy. Warm, cosy and friendly. Jean and John were incredibly helpful and made us feel right at home - perfect for a short stay around the Thirsk area.

Sarah’ place is the perfect base for visiting this area. So many wonderful things to do in close proximity, including wonderful walking straight from the door. All the comforts you need for your stay including thoughtful touches like milk, tea, coffee, biscuits for your arrival and luxury travel size shampoo, conditioner and shower gel in the bathroom. Gorgeous view from the bedroom window and really interesting reading about the history of the station. Would highly recommend the afternoon tea at Ampleforth Abbey tea rooms - food plentiful and delicious and the free tea refills were much appreciated. Castle Howard is fabulous but I think Rievaulx Abbey was definitely our top destination. The walk from Hemsley is enjoyable through fields and woodland and the abbey itself is breathtakingly huge and architecturally stunning against the backdrop of this tiny village, Rievaulx, complete with a chocolate box thatched roof cottage. We just scratched the surface of this wonderful area so will most definitely be contacting Sarah in the future when we return.

Had a very comfortable and relaxing stay, visiting family in the area. Convenient for travelling to York and Helmsley and the village of Gilling is lovely. The space is cosy and the bed is very comfortable. We stay regularly and will certainly come back again.

Sarah’s place is in a great and lovely location, close to Hemsley and walking routes. It is a great building (a railway station). The room itself has good facilities, allowing us to make a cooked breakfast and is lovely and clean. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend. Thank you Sarah!

The cottage is really lovely, spotlessly clean, everything you would need is provided along with extra nice bits. The decor is modern and stylish whilst being homely and very comfortable. It is just minutes walk from Helmsley centre and castle and Rivaulx Abbey walk. I would highly recommend a stay here. Amanda is an excellent host, super quick responses and friendly. Definitely a great place to stay.

This is a spacious and very comfortable house located very close to the centre of Helmsley. We were six people and a dog - four adults and two children - and we found this house worked very well indeed for our stay. The house is well equipped and, with three bathrooms, three bedrooms, dining room, sitting room and a further seating area, everyone had plenty of space. Amanda, our host, kept in touch to make sure we had everything we needed. A property to be very highly recommended.

This is a wonderful house, two minutes from the centre of Helmsley. Three good sized bedrooms, all en-suite, comfortable lounge, sunroom, separate dining room and a well-equipped kitchen. The gardens are pretty and would be a real asset in the warmer months. The property was spotless. We would stay again without hesitation.

This little house was a real go.e from home. It had everything we needed and was very convenient with a short walk into the high street. Helmsley is a lovely market town.

We loved staying at Amanda's place in Helmsley. The place is spacious and has a lovely feel, there's a good range of communal and outdoor space and sleeps 6 very comfortably. The location is amazing you can be in the centre of town or within open countryside in less than 5 minutes. Amanda was a great host, responsive in communication before and during our stay and could not have been more helpful. If you need a base for exploring the North York Moors you won't find many better than this. Matt and Hannah - South London.

The cottage was a wonderful place to spend Christmas. The bedrooms were bigger than expected, the kitchen although small is very well equipped and able to handle Christmas lunch for 4. The location is lovely. Nice views, close to many local sites and walks. Great access to the stunning suttongl Bank. There was an electrical issue which caused power outages on Christmas day, the owners stopped their own day to dins a solution to get us through cooling lunch, then aore permanent solution after we had finished eating, and then had an electrician out the day after boxing day, an unfortunately timed incident handled very well by the owners. A lot of apologies and a bottle of fizz was left to make ammends. Would happily stay again and recommend to friends.

We had a very pleasant and relaxing stay at Lucy’s cottage. The cottage was clean, warm and cosy and had everything we needed for our short stay. Location was ideal to access all the places we wanted to explore. Lucy’s a very friendly host and gave us detailed instructions on how to find the cottage. Highly recommended!

A lovely, comfortable and relaxing cottage in a wonderful location. Lucy was really helpful before we arrived and got in touch to give us some practical information and some great tips about what to do whilst we were there.

We have a lovely stay at Lucy's cottage. The cottage itself has everything you need and there is so much to do and see in the surrounding area.

Set in an amazing location, the cottage was so quiet and the views spectacular. Just a couple of minutes from Sutton Bank Visitor Centre and the many many lovely walks from there. The cottage was lovely and clean and very spacious. The addition of underfloor heating was a bonus and it was nice to feel warm tiles underfoot and a nice temperature throughout the cottage. Our puppy certainly loved it! Lucy was very welcoming leaving some essentials and a cake for us on our arrival. Top tips: 1) The gate opens outwards so stop your car slightly short of the gate on arrival. 2) Make sure to look up at night - it’s in the Dark Sky Discovery Area so the stars are amazing. 3) Set your alarm for sunrise and sit out the front and enjoy. Simply stunning. Will definitely stay here again when exploring the North York Moors National Park.

Thanks to James for having us! This is a great little Annex close by to the national parks for those with cars! Great spot to catch some sleep. There are lots of lovely (but expensive) local restaurants/pubs to try out - around 5-10 minutes drive down country lanes. Breakfast is provided in the room - cereals, teas, coffees and delicious home-made bread which can be warmed up in the mini-oven. However, other meals are not provided/no space for cooking as kitchen access isn't available. Perfect though if you're keen to check out the local spots, and feeling cosy and cottage-y. Thanks again for having us!

Lovely quaint twin bedded room with en-suite bathroom and a small fridge stocked with continental breakfast items. The yogurt and warmed fresh bread rolls were very tasty!

Set in an atmospheric location. So quiet at night you can hear a pin drop. A very cosy and comfortable place to stay. Great facilities, and exciting adventure for my 5 year old who loved the stay. James our host was extremely helpful and friendly. He did everything he could to help us out.

Warm (we were there in November) cosy, clean, nice bathroom. Breakfast provided.

Perfect for visiting N Yorkshire

This place was a perfect stay for me. My bed was comfy and the shower excellent. It was warm and sunny while I was there so being able to sit out on the sunny patio enjoying the view in the sunshine was a delight.

Great venue. Compact but the facilities are ideal. Very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Check in very straightforward. Would highly recommended it for a short stay.

An ideal base for an overnight stay in North Yorkshire. Kirkbymoorside has several pubs and great places to eat - right on the doorstep! The room was quirky, cosy and ideally situated! A great place to stay!

The cottage is great, though I would prefer to have the bathroom upstairs and not to have to walk down the stairs during the night. Liz who manage the place is amazing, super friendly and both her husband and herself are always there when (if) you need them. The cottage was really warm (we arrived late at night) and super clean. A beautiful place to stay at!

This is the most wonderful cottage everyone was so helpful and the setting is stunning, walking distance into Helmsley so absolutely spot on.

Beautiful well equipped house that contains everything you need for a break away. We stayed as two families with three children aged 5, 2 and 1 and they all had a fantastic time. Easy 3 minute walk into the centre of Helmsley but tucked far enough away to make you feel like you are in the middle of the countryside. The recent renovations are fantastic and as other reviews have said, the photos really don’t do it justice. Hopefully we will return again one day

We were the first guests to stay after a recent renovation. The house is beautiful. The downstairs layout is very open and sociable. Upstairs, three double bedrooms each with en suites allows space and privacy when staying with a larger group. The location is a short walk to the local shops, cafés and outdoor pool.

House is ideally positioned for easy reach to the centre of Helmsley ( 2 mins walk away). We loved the little touches, such as milk in fridge and biscuits. The house has everything you could possibly need to ensure a lovely, relaxing stay. Garden is super; secure and enclosed for the dog. We enjoyed a walk in nearby countryside accessed straight from the house. We enjoyed a lovely meal out at The Feathers pub (recommend booking). Would definitely recommend Amanda's house and would love to return sometime soon.

A beautiful house in a great location. Spotlessley clean and well featured. Everything you need a short walk away including the village, shops, great restaurants and a lovely microbrewery. Great communication and all the facilities that you would expect in a true home from home. We are hoping to return soon.

We had a great stay here. The house house is in an excellent location, in a beautiful village. It is a 5 min walk to the market square, pubs and restaurants, and 10 mins until you are in the parkland of Duncome park. There is a nice garden to sit out in the sun. The house had all the facilities we needed to cook and have a pleasant stay. Access was by key safe which made for a relaxed arrival. I would happily stay here again.

Amanda's place is really lovely, I couldn't fault it. The house was spotless with beautiful gardens to sit out in. I had a really enjoyable and peaceful stay, everything I needed was there and Amanda was in touch and available should I have any questions. The house is in a perfect position, a lovely view out to the church and a very short walk to Helmsley market place where there are pubs and cafes to sit and watch the day go by. Helmsley is a beautiful town and well worth a visit and I'd highly recommend Amanda's as the perfect place to stay

Lovely place to stay in a great location literally a minute walk to the market square in Helmsley where there are lovely shops and pubs. The house was clean and tidy and had everything we needed for a weekend - even sharp knives in the kitchen which you rarely get in a holiday let!! Comfy beds, fluffy towels and a big dvd selection made this a perfect stay.

Olwen’s cottage is very clean, cosy and welcoming. There were thoughtful touches on arrival and the communication was great. The cottage is in a quiet village but good access to Dalby Forest, Pickering and Whitby. There is a great pub down the road as well. Would definitely visit again.

We had a wonderful stay in this cosy little cottage. It gave us a real taste of Yorkshire life for a few days! Everything was lovely and Olwen was extremely hospitable!

I selected the Forge at Wrelton because we wanted a base for a long weekend between York and Whitby for my partners birthday. If you are looking to stay in this area (which is beautiful) you have to stay at Olwen’s place. Her communication was great and the property was easy to find. Inside it was just perfect for a couple, beautifully appointed and decorated. It was immaculately clean with everything you could want and Olwen had thought of everything from finishing touches like fresh flowers and leaving a couple of special treats as I had told her in advance we were celebrating a birthday. Don’t think twice, just book it! You won’t be disappointed. Thank you again Olwen!

Olwens cottage is stylish, cool, relaxing, very comfortable and cosy. We loved everything about it, and the extra little touches were the icing on the cake. We had cookies, champagne n lovely welcome note on arrival, enjoyed the local pubs for food and escaped the busy lifestyle in the cottege. Would definitely recommend.

From the moment we arrived we felt so welcomed Olwen made sure we found the property ok and made sure we were settled and warm! We were also welcomed to find Home made cup cakes a bottle of bubbly and a lovely card. The place is beautiful very unique and quirky, sparkling clean and the bed was so comfy!! For a little quiet weekend away this is perfect and there is a pub less than a 5 minute walk away.
