  • Lovely, homely space with a wonderful log burner which made me feel very cosy.

  • Emma and Stuart's annex is a cozy cottage in their back courtyard. Even though we were in the middle of some proper winter storms the space was cozy and warm, and spending the evening next to the woodburner with a glass of wine in hand was a particular delight. Fully appointed with kitchen and separate bathroom mean a couple of people could easily be at home here for an extended stay. Highly recommended, will definitely use next time I'm in the area. Warm and friendly hosts.

  • A lovely cosy little Annex, right next to Wombwell woods, all the special touches like, toiletries & basic food essentials were a lovely treat. The log burner was great as it was cold, even though there's central heating it was still nice to be besides a natural fire. Emma was very informative and had thought of everything to ensure our stay was comfortable. I would recommend a stay here if you want a peaceful place to recharge this is definitely for you.

  • Kim's place is very clean, friendly and comfortable it is everything and more that you need

    Stephen2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • This is all round a very nice place to stay. It was easy to find, being one of only 4 or 5 houses on the road. There is also off road parking. The property has its own private entrance and consists of a large entrance hall, bathroom and bedroom/living room. The entrance hall contains a large sideboard cabinet with kettle, toaster and microwave. There was also a fridge. There was a large variety of food and drink in the fridge and cabinet for breakfast/snacks, this was most welcome as I arrived quite late and was tired to go out and get anything. The bathroom contains a shower cubicle with electric shower which was nice and hot and just about powerful enough. The main living area is very large with a double bed, dining table and a variety of chairs. There is a large television on the wall with Sky TV, though there is no sofa so I watched while sitting on the bed. The entire property has under floor heating as it's only heat source. The weather was very cold when I stayed and I found it a little chilly inside but Kim kindly provided an oil filled radiator which warmed the place nicely. Honestly it may have been warm enough for most but I am somebody who is cold all the time! There are plenty of amenities nearby including a Morrisons, a retail park and multiple take aways. However they are all a bit far to walk to (3 to 4 miles), but 5 mins away by car. The English Heritage site of Brodsworth Hall is a short walk away though I didn't get around to visiting it. All in all this is a great place to stay and I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

    Rachel2019-11-22T00:00:00Z
  • Greg is a genuinely lovely guy who has a wonderful home, and it was our pleasure to stay. Beautifully decorated, the beds and linen were super comfy and an excellent nights sleep was had! Great directions in advance to his place, 2 parking spots and a lovely view from master bedroom and living areas. Prompt replies, met us in person and gave us a grand tour. Even came back when the daughter informed us AFTER checking out and posting the key through the letterbox that she'd forgotten her phone charger; above and beyond ! Highly recommended, would love to visit again. Only downside was a lack of WiFi for said teenager, but we were told this at point of booking (and it's also listed on the booking itself too). Overall, top night!

  • Amazing stay with Suzie and her partner. Very welcoming, and a fantastic host. She went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable.

    Adam2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • great host, room and bathroom clean, and nice room with very comfortable bed

    Lynne2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed with Suzi for 2 nights and was made to feel extremely welcome from the moment I arrived. One of my Grand daughters was competing at the 4 day Frickley Horse Trials locally and camping with her family in a field in the pouring rain. Undaunted Suzi helped dry out some of mine and the children's clothes -- which was really beyond the duties of a B & B hostess. She was so cheerful and positive about the problem and really saved the situation.

    Eleanor2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • An absolute gem! I was searching for accommodation for a 10 week contract period, and booked Suzi's place for the first week, to check out the lie of the land. I ended up staying all 10 weeks there. It is a lovely, clean home, with a great bed, bedroom and bathroom facilities. These are only bettered by Suzi's hospitality, nothing seems to be too much trouble for her. If I get further work in the area, Suzi will be the first person that I contact, for availability.

    Pete2019-05-17T00:00:00Z
  • Suzi made us feel very welcome in her home; she was very friendly and accommodating. The room was very clean and tidy as was the bathroom facilities. She was very flexible about us arriving late at night. Thanks for having us!

Farm Shop & Tea Room on site, many local attractions near by for example, Brodsworth Hall, Cusworth Hall, Yorkshire Wildlife Park, Doncaster Races are all on the doorstep.
  • Marr Grange Cottage is a delightful place to stay, with lots of thoughtful touches and a homely feel. Leanne is a lovely host and made us feel very welcome. The cottage was clean and tidy, with a spacious lounge, dining room and modern kitchen. There were lots of welcome treats in a basket on our arrival and the fresh flowers were a lovely touch. The cottage is ideally located near the A1 which makes visiting places nearby so easy. We had great days out at Brodsworth Hall (only 10 minutes away) and Yorkshire Wildlife Park. The cottage is also not far from a small Tesco and larger supermarkets in Doncaster. We really enjoyed our 5 days staying at the cottage. Our children loved seeing the occasional tractor trundling around and meeting some of the horses, especially the little pony. We had a delicious lunch at the farm cafe too. We look forward to returning again soon.

    Amanda2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Great thoughtful touches (particularly as I'm vegan). Leanne made an extra effort to accommodate my dietary needs. Lovely friendly place - definitely super host status!

    Nick2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • A beautifully presented two storey cottage with all the amenities you could ever need. Leanne was a terrific host and really went out of her way to make sure my stay was just perfect; starting with a beautiful hand crafted welcome note and complimentary gift basket on arrival. The kitchen is modern and well equipped with tea, coffee, sugar and milk in the fridge. Continental breakfast goodies were also laid out, with cereal etc in the cupboard. The fresh flowers on the dining room table were a beautiful touch and made the whole house smell divine. The living room was spacious and comfortable, with toys and games for the little ones if you were thinking of visiting with a family. I did struggle to get the TV to work, but thankfully I had my iPad and the WiFi signal was excellent, so that wasn’t a drama for me. There was a small selection of DVDs there too. Upstairs the bedrooms were all immaculately presented, and had perfectly laid, crisp, clean bed linen. The bathroom was spacious and modern and had a small selection of things you might have forgotten to pack - deodorant, shower gel, shampoo, etc. In a cottage that’s over 100 years old, you have to appreciate that there are some features that would be difficult or expensive to modernise, such as the electric light sockets or very narrow steps taking you to the upper floor. But for me these gave the cottage an unmistakable character and I found them very quirky. Situated on a working farm, I had expected it to be a little noisy - especially in the morning. But the first signs of life I heard was a truck passing by at 7:30am, other than that the peace and quiet was blissful. Would I return? Definitely!! And with the family too. My little boy would love this place!

    Anne-Marie2020-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • Leanne went beyond the call of duty providing what we needed for our stay. It was a perfect spot to break up a journey along the A1, quiet, warm and comfortable.

    Clara2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Great place. Many thoughtful touches. I'll be back!

    Nick2020-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • Leanne’s cottage was just right for what we needed it for, she’s put a lot of effort in and there are some very thoughtful touches such as the welcome basket and breakfast. It’s also in a great location - on a farm with an excellent farm shop and cafe!

    Gillian2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • the cottage is in the hart of the farm. I is exactly as described. Leanne is an excellent host. she thinks of everything to make you feel at home. I will come back for sure.

  • I have just stayed at Karen and Geoff’s place while I was on my travels with work. A lovely warm welcome awaited me when I arrived and Karen made me feel very welcome straight away, I really enjoyed her friendly laid back and relaxing attitude to having guests in her house, it was wonderful. We had a good old chat over a coffee before I headed out for an evening meal. Karen’s house is lovely, clean and tidy all over and my room had everything you could possibly need for a stopover. I would recommend Karen and Geoff’s place to anyone who is visiting the area or heading further north like me and wants to break up the journey, “It’s 4 yeses from me!!”

We have almost completed the renovation of this 18th century house which was originally two separate cottages. Hemingfield, a village about 5 miles from Barnsley, is on the edge of the Dearne valley with lots of country walks, two pubs (one recommended for its food) and a farm shop. We're just 1 minute from the Dearne valley parkway, 5 mins from M1 J36 and 15 miles from Sheffield.
The attic suite will be yours. There is a large light bedroom and your own en-suite with both bath and shower. Please note that as we live in an old cottage, the stairs are narrow and winding so it might be a struggle to carry large suitcases up there. We have one other single room so if needed we can accommodate one more person.
This is an ex-mining area with a lot of mining heritage celebrated in the area. Elsecar Heritage Centre (1.5 miles away) has lots of shops, an antique centre and runs many events plus we're 3 miles from the fabulous Wentworth Woodhouse stately home and grounds. A little further away there are beautiful walks, reservoirs, views and pretty towns and villages in the Peak District. The Dearne valley is noted for its bird watching - there are seven reserves within a few miles of our house including RSPB Old Moor (3 miles away). We're happy to point you in the direction of eateries, good pubs or other things to do. Just ask us.
  • Wonderful hosts. Could not have asked for more! Highly recommend!

  • We loved our stay at the Shakespeare apartment. It was warm and cosy and we love the wonderful character of the building and tasteful decor. The beds were exceptionally comfortable and the living area was bright and sunny with stunning stained glass windows , chandeliers and high ceilings. We were a very short walk to the co-op to get supplies and also great eateries. We highly recommend the Shakespeare Apartment, an easy 5stars. Thank you so much, we will be back!

  • Me my partner and two other couples stayed here for New Years Eve. We went to a local country pub for food and drinks then came back to the apartment to bring in the new year. There was plenty of space for everyone without anyone invading each other’s space. The beds were extremely comfy and were all very clean. We would definitely stay here again.

  • Lovely place! We will come again!

  • Recently renovated flat in amazing old public library building. High ceilings, stained glass windows chandeliers, big bath in the master bedroom, coal fire and very comfy and classy sofas downstairs, big TV, etc etc. The listing was very accurate. No onsite parking but we found on street parking right outside. Tea, coffee, biscuits on arrival and shower gel in the bathroom but not much else in the way of “essentials” so pack accordingly. Check in was seamless. Communication was pretty much instantaneous. To top it off, our stay was very well priced. Great all round experience.

The old stone house is situated on a B road, with light work buildings to one side and rural setting to the other. There are lovely walks along the river side and also canal. For train spotters 2 railway lines for viewing. There are parks and fishing. 15 mins drive to the amazing Meadowhall shopping centre. Central to Barnsley, Doncaster and Sheffield. Close to picturesque ancient villages, monuments, Inns and restaurants. The apartment is small but quirky and great for short stays.
This ground floor stone fronted cottage is part of a larger stone manor house. It has 1 bedroom with new memory foam double bed. The shower is situated in the main bedroom and is raised off the ground with 3 steps. The sofa bed is in the lounge area. I can also provide a travel cot if required also a single air bed if needed. This apartment is better suited to family members as the bathroom facilities are in the bedroom. The apartment is on a B road but the bedroom is towards the rear of the home. There is off street parking directly across the road that can be seen from the apartment.
  • Great location for what I needed. Great communication. Quirky, very clean, definitely stopping again when I’m back in the area. Thanks

This place is very nice and cute, and if you are in the area then a great little place. Thank you for your great communication and alternative accommodation.

Hi, my place is great for family stay overs or if you are working in the area on contract. It is a stone fronted property on the main road towards Hooton Roberts. There are 2 large bedrooms with double beds and a small room with single bed. A living room with large wall mounted TV and a double sofa bed. A dinning room and separate kitchen with all the equipment needed. Please note that the stairs are steep as it is an old 1860's home and there is 1 bathroom is situated on the first floor.
Hi my place is a victorian end stone cottage. There is a cosy living room with flat screen wall mounted tv and wifi. A seperate dinning room and kitchen is next to this with all items you would need for even an extended stay. 2 double bedrooms and 1 single bedroom and double sofa bed. Family bathroom to the first floor. Small outside yard area.
very small village with bus routes and a convenience store just a small walk away. The main village of Swinton S64 is 1 mile away with a train station to all major cities.
  • The house is very large, the owner has prepared a lot of things we need, except the stairs are too steep, everything else is perfect, recommending tourists from China to book

  • We stayed in the house, which was lovely with great attention to detail. The WiFi was good too! There's not a lot in the surrounding area, so you really do need a car,but there are some lovely walks on the doorstep.

Cosy apartment in an old stone house dating back to 1850s Tall ceilings and quirky layout. Memory foam mattress on main beds and a comfortable leather bed sofa. Please note my listings in this area are great for visiting family, local events and work stays. It is not a holiday destination. People's perception of Holiday is different so please view the area first on the online maps. It sits on the edge of the green belt with nice river and canal walks. For train enthusiasts rail track short walk
Great for stopovers or longer stays on the edge of green belt with lovely walks and fishing ponds within easy walking distance. Please note that the house is situated on a main road so at times as when the children leave the primary school it can get busy. There is a small convenience shop over the bridge in walking distance.
Hello and a warm welcome awaits all our visitors. The apartment is a warm bright and cosy home. Close to 2 fishing ponds which are in easy walking distance. There are main bus routes to Rotherham and Sheffield and easy commute to main motorways Sheffield Doncaster and Barnsley. The house is situated on a B road and has light warehouse units to one side and green belt and river walks to the other. Parking is accross the road on a track to the field directly opposite the house.
