Places to stay in Freedom

Places to stay in Freedom
Our secluded, very quiet and private two bedroom cabin, plus loft, overlooks Sandy Pond, inhabited by bald eagles, loons, and herons. Watch beautiful sunrises and sunsets, and swim, fish and kayak from our dock. We're close to coastal Belfast, Unity, MOFGA (annual Common Ground Fair), Waterville, Acadia and Camden. Eat at The Lost Kitchen, visit the Amish, hike the Hills to Sea Trail.
Our cabin sits on a small peninsula jutting out into Sandy pond. We are conveniently located between Waterville in Central Maine and Belfast on the coast, each a short half hour away. We are on the same pond as Freedom's gourmet restaurant, "The Lost Kitchen," located in the restored Freedom Mill. Close by is the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association (MOFGA) in Unity, Unity College, and the Unity Center for the Performing Arts. The cabin is a perfect base for visiting the Common Ground Fair, Windsor Fair, the Amish country store and charcuterie. You can get to Liberty Graphics and the classic Liberty Tools in about twenty minutes. Best of all, the secluded lake is just steps away and usually you will find only birds once you are on the water. Bald Eagles nest a few hundred yards from the cabin and are seen almost daily. Loons, kingfishers, red-winged blackbirds, and fly catchers are common. During the fall Canadian geese visit as do a number of ducks and herons. The pond is stocked for fishing and the swimming in summer is wonderful. It is conveniently located for day trips to the coast, including north to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park, and south to Camden, Rockport, Rockland, and Boothbay Harbor. The cabin is available only May through October.
Freedom in the summer and fall is magical. When you're on the lake it feels like wilderness. We are often the only people on the lake in the late afternoon. Watching the leaves turn in the fall is awe inspiring. While Freedom is a small town with only one general store and gas station, Unity has just about everything you might need from groceries to hardware, to restaurants and bars, as well as a free library at the College.
  • Nice cabin in the woods with great access to water. Views are spectacular. Hosts were attentive to all our needs.

    Eva2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • We had the best time at this cabin. It has amazing views of the water and the lake is so peaceful. They had kayaks which made the experience more fun. The cabin has everything you could need and the pictures really do not do the cabin or it’s surroundings justice!

    Tommy2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice, comfortable clean cabin in the woods, on a lake. Very quiet location. Helpful hosts. We would stay there again if we ever get back to the area.

    Connell2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing cabin experience with a pond unlike any other. Spectacular view of foliage. Will return for sure...

    Leslie2019-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • This cozy cabin is great. In the woods, on a quiet pond, kayaks, loons, bright stars, place is clean as a whistle, wood stove, wifi works, Will try and go again sometime.

    Chris2019-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is fantastic! Quiet, peaceful and cozy. We wish we had more time to spend here. Definitely adding it to our “must return” list!

    Nicole2019-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great cabin in the woods. Rustic, charming, and overall great! There was very tasty well water & thoughtful notes throughout. The kayaks & the lake were amazing, and the stars were incredible, too. The binder with local tips, maps, etc was very thorough. I’d love to come back for longer. They set up a cot in the loft for one of my kids & put some collectibles up high out of reach of the kids. Even though we didn’t use it, the wood stove was prepped to light if we needed it. The cabin decor was so interesting & the magazines were nice, too. Full kitchen & Great dining table to share a meal with the family. The master bedroom windows have the best view as the sun rises, but there are blinds to block out the light too. We heard an owl in the evening & saw many loons on the water. Lovely stay!

    Kristin2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying at Dana’s place! It’s a well kept older cabin in a gorgeous location. We only wish we had stayed more than one night! Very peaceful and relaxing.

It's beside a pond engineered and built by industrious beavers which brings all kinds of wildlife to the area. In the spring, with the snow melt, the pond is full and over-flowing. In the early summer, while the water level is still high and fresh, it's a swimming hole. Later in the summer, the water level drops and the lilies bloom. This is really a beautiful pond ecosystem.
This spot in the Maine woods is close enough to be on the road in seconds, yet far enough away to feel real privacy. The site is on a 130-acre lot of land with plenty of woods roads to wander.
  • This is the perfect get-away from regular life and reminds you why you love the outdoors. Jim and Doreen are perfect hosts and can help guide you along to a great trip!

    Jennie2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Great overnight camp spot. Really appreciate the wood, including kindling. The outhouse is as clean as other reviewers have noted.

    Robin2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing property, the hosts go above and beyond to provide you with what you need. We were very surprised to have a wood pile, and a grill with propane! Though we prefer to cook over the fire it was still fantastic to have! The outhouse is fabulous. Directions to the campsite were spot on. Truly a hidden gem and SO private! Highly recommend!

  • Very nice property!

    David2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed the seclusion your campsite gave us. At first we thought the pile of wood was a tent with the tarp over it but were very glad for the wood that was there! It was also a beautiful stop before going to acadia national park!

    Desserra2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Great spot, we camped here after being in Portland and then headed to bar harbor upon waking.

    Kayla2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • As advertised, great hosts, very private camping spot

    Clay2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time!Jim and Doreen went into a lot of trouble to offer our family a night of camping with all the equipment waiting for us. Large roomy tents, comfortable sleeping bags and mats, a mobile outdoor kitchen, plenty of wood for the firepit - made our family a night to remember! Thank you!

Cozy, light-bathed bedroom in the renovated "back house" of an 1850s Maine farmhouse. A peaceful space for healthcare workers or others looking for a place to work or stay during the COVID 19 epidemic. We will keep the room empty for 3 days between guests during this time, and will increase our usual cleaning procedures to include sanitizing all frequently touched surfaces. The room has a private entrance - no need for any interaction with hosts. Dedicated guest parking for anytime access.
Newly remodeled space, including a private bathroom with rainfall shower. Cotton bedding and towels, down comforter, SUPER-comfortable mattress, new heat pump to keep you warm or cool (depending on the season), space heater for those extra cold winter days and nights, a closet and set of drawers. Tea, coffee, and a refrigerator provided in the room. This space is perfect for anyone looking for an affordable, private, clean, safe and comfortable alternative to a hotel room. It is ideal for those looking to spend a night on their way to or from Acadia National Park, traveling to the area for multi-day business trips, or using the room as a cozy crash pad from which to explore the Midcoast region. If you are looking for a space in which you can prepare meals, enjoy cocktails on a private patio, or be secluded in the Maine wilderness, our place probably doesn't fit the bill...but there are many other options in the area that would. Other details to note so there are no surprises: The room does not have a TV but does have Wi-Fi. There are a set of gravel and wooden steps leading up to the entrance from the private driveway...if you are not able to lift your suitcases this could be a problem, though we are happy to assist with luggage if we are home. Also, our house is much the same as it was in the 1850s but the town around it has grown and the road outside the home is well-traveled. The same location that makes our place a very convenient stop also means that the home is not super secluded....but most guests report a very restful stay nonetheless. Though best suited to two adults, small families with children who don't mind sleeping on the floor are welcome. Ample floor space for a couple of sleeping bags (not provided).
Waldo County has a thriving local foods movement - stop by the Belfast Co-op to check out their well-stocked shelves of local and natural foods, or visit one of our two wonderful farmers markets: the Belfast Farmer's Market (Fridays 9-1, year-round, outdoor in summer, indoor in winter) or the United Farmers Market of Maine (Saturdays 9-2, year-round, indoor). Take a walk along the Belfast Harbor Walk, check out the thriving downtown shops and art galleries, and end the evening with a seafood dinner outside on the deck at Young's Lobster Pound, overlooking lovely Penobscot Bay. (Heads up - Young's is BYOB!) Many other places of interest, both near and far - just ask!
  • Spacious and gracious and sparkling new (or it felt like it). A lovely retreat only 5 minutes to downtown. Highly recommended.

  • This spot is a gem! Excellent location, warm and inviting space, thoughtful touches. Leigh made it so easy to make a last second escape. Don’t look any further!

    Madi2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Leigh’s place was a great studio to stay in for the conference I attended. 5 minutes from the UMaine Hutchinson Center, very clean and warm, great hospitality. I nice place to stay in Belfast!

    Nathan2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Very cute, comfortable, and clean! We stayed just for a quick night as we were driving through. The space was restorative after a long day of driving!

    Asia2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Such a great stay!! Wonderful place to stay, private and familiar. We enjoyed so much spending time reading and relaxing while raining. Leigh and Dameon provided all the facilities, comfort and details to make or stay unforgettable. Thanks

    Caridad2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • This space was a lovely spot and close to town. Checking in was easy and Leigh was quick to respond to questions. Thanks again!

    Neshamah2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • The back house was much better than we expected and wonderful in every way. It was comfortable, warm, really stylish, great coffee, comfy bed. It felt spacious and private but it was very close to Belfast. We relaxed and took advantage of her suggested restaurants which were excellent. The exterior of the main house gives no indication of the adorableness of the inside. Highly recommend and hope to stay there again.

    Megan2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • We spent two nights here on a winter weekend getaway, and loved it! I would highly recommend it. The space is cozy and charming, with great amenities - the bed is one of the most comfortable I have ever slept on. The Back House is a great value and offers easy access to Belfast, or other spots in the Midcoast or Downeast region.

This is a tiny retreat for one or two guests. There is a fireplace facing the twin day bed. There is a screened in kitchenette. No shower facilities...but ask about availability of other cabins to possibly schedule time for use. This cabin is also a perfect add-on to those who need a little more space for additional guests when renting cabin 1 or 3! Winter rental details: We reduce our rates for the for the winter months because it's a great stay, for those who like winter camping in comfort!
This is a "still in the process" tiny cabin that really feels like a retreat from the world. There is no indoor shower but if you are a hardy soul who enjoys off the grid living... with a little luxury...a bird bath does the job. The "bathroom" is a very clean, cedar outhouse next to the cabin with a stained glass window. This is an experience that is perfect for some...and not for others. Read description thoroughly and ask questions if needed. Adventure and seclusion await! Winter rental details: We reduce our rates for the hide-a-way for the winter months because it's a great stay...but for those who like winter camping in comfort! This cabin heats up beautifully with the fireplace and is so snuggly...but shoveling a little snow and lugging a few armfulls of wood might be part of this woodland experience...oh...but if you are up for it...what an experience!
Jackson is a lovely town right on rt 7 with great access to the Bangor Airport and the beautiful coastal town of Belfast with many treasures to explore from there. Many of our guests are on their way to or from visiting Acadia which is about 1 hour 30 min away. Locally the Jackson/Brooks area has beautiful farms and events associated with those locations. It's not far from the famed Lost Kitchen...book well in advance! A golf course...The Hills to Sea trail...and great local food are all close by with seasonal events happening throughout the year.
  • Perfect cabin for a weekend getaway! Such a cozy and cute place. As soon as we arrived, the cabin was so warm and toasty due to the fire that they had already set up for us! Thank you Jim & Doreen. We would definitely stay here again if we return to Maine! -Darlene & Alex

  • Had a great relaxing time in the woods..much needed time off in a perfect spot..will be back

  • This quaint and quiet little cabin is darling. The outhouse is clean and easy to access. Having the wood stove during the chilly night was charming and cozy. I’d come back again.

  • Such a beautiful little cabin with everything you need. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a cozy get away!

    Helen2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • Great little place to stay!

    Amy2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Such a lovely little cabin, perfect for one or two people. I needed a place to stay for one night while at the Common Ground Fair. The cabin was an easy 20-minute drive from the fairgrounds on country roads. It sits among a cluster of 3 or 4 cabins that share a driveway,so even though I was traveling alone I felt safe with other guests next door. It had been renovated recently so all of the wood inside was brand new ; the twin beds very comfortable; and the cabin was nicely decorated inside too. I didn’t have time to use the wood stove but I imagine that would be nice on a cool evening . There was an electric heater that warmed the cabin quickly. The kitchenette is on a screened porch. So sweet! And if all of that wasn’t enough to delight, the outside (heated) shower had just been installed and I was able to enjoy a warm shower outside in the morning. Such a wonderful experience! Next time, I will stay longer and use it as a jumping off pad to explore the Midcoast. Belfast is an easy 20-minute drive. Really enjoyed my all-too-short stay!

    Heather2019-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice and cozy place. A small bed for 2 people but which favor the reconcialiation ;) . Outdoor shower 85% finished (very soon complete) but very effective. We loved the place. Thank you

This is an adorable rustic but lux little get-a-way in the heart of Jackson, Maine. There are several cabins built on the property creating winter village feel. We've opened this cabin to winter rentals with the caveat that a guest could potentially wake up on a very cold morning with a temporary loss of water at the kitchen sink due to freezing. However, the condition is usually temporary and just effects the kitchen sink and not any of the bathroom fixtures.
This listing is for the front cabin called the Bird's Nest which is now completely renovated! We are always adding to and fluffing it. Please let us know what your needs are and we can give you an idea if this cabin might be a good fit for your escape. Situated on 10 wooded acres to wander on.... and another 100+ acres down the road with a stream, pond and woods roads for hiking!
Jackson is three miles outside of Brooks and has a little cafe that resources from some amazing local farm foods. Ralphs Cafe is seasonal so check hours. Very centrally located to Augusta, Waterville, Belfast and Bangor.
  • An amazing place for quiet reflection and cozy comfort. The wood burning stove kept everything nice and toasty, but even if we had not used it, it was still warm and comfy inside. It did add a great amount of ambiance though! It doesn't have a tv, but we did not miss it even a little (even my teenage son didn't miss it!). Beds are quite comfortable and everything was spotlessly clean upon our arrival. If you have difficulty climbing, stay in the bed downstairs. But the loft upstairs was so nice and worth the climb up the unique staircase. Jim and Doreen's directions were spot on and they gave us a head's up on any inclement weather conditions. It was a wonderful place to stay and we hope to be back again next year!

  • Great little cabin tucked in the woods! My husband and I were impressed with the thoughtful details and incredible amount of comfort provided in this cabin. We can’t wait to come back, 10/10!

    Ambrosia2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Such an amazing spot! You won't regret staying here, we are already plotting our return. Note that nearby Ralph's is not currently open for dinner so you will need to travel a bit for dinner (it's open for breakfast and lunch though!! It's sooo good)!

    Katie2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage was perfect for our stay in Maine. It was very clean and quite cozy. It has a homey feel that you don't get everywhere. There was easy communication with the hosts and questions were answered quickly. We throughly enjoyed ourselves and can't wait to stay again.

    Susan2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • This is such a sweet spot, tucked away in the woods. The hosts were very responsive and sweet...and the amenities were super clean and fresh feeling. Would definitely recommend!

    Kate2019-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • Super great place .. the craftsmanship of the renovations was amazing ..

    Kris2019-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is amazing. It’s gorgeous, clean, smells incredible, and is just the right distance away from town. My husband and I aren’t very outdoorsy, but we loved it. I think people more outdoorsy than we are would absolutely adore it here. The beds were both so comfy, and the pillows are amazing. The wood burning stove is also great! Love, love, love.

    Megan2019-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • What an excellent cabin!! Cozy, clean and just adorable! Relaxed by the fire pit and snuggled up for a couple nights for a weekend getaway. Not hard to find at all and great local stores for food and goods. Loved Ralph's cafe down the road. We will be back to visit again for sure! Don't pass up a chance to stay here if you can!

  • Location was pretty far out there but it's sure worth it. Dan was really nice and gave us great tips for local attractions. Great communicator respond super quick. I would definitely go there again.

  • We enjoyed our stay. A nice log cabin in the woods with two guest rooms, shared bath, common area with living room and kitchen, host stays upstairs in the loft. Dan was very welcoming and friendly. Communication was excellent.

  • This is the most unique experience you will have at ARBnB. Dan is a most gracious host and has so many things for breakfast it’s like going to your very own restaurant. The grounds are amazing and Dan is the most friendly and relaxed host. Don’t miss an opportunity to stay here on your travels.

    Anita2019-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy retreat on beautiful grounds. Maine is just stunning in autumn and Dan's place was perfect.

  • This Air BNB, Log cabin at Stonecrop Meadow hosted by Dan in Hampden, Maine, is a lovely log cabin in a beautiful traditional Maine setting. Dan is an excellent host making sure every detail was managed with care. The accommodations were very warm, comfortable and inviting. Dan is very knowledgeable about the area and can help make a visit there very enjoyable. I will book this lodging again when in the area.

  • Just perfect. Beautiful house in a beautiful environment. Comfortable room and shower, breakfast pantry a great touch - would greatly recommend to anyone who is looking for a place to stay in the area.

    Ido2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • Great how this place is both convenient yet remote and rustic and comfortable! It is an easy drive to the Bangor airport and to other destinations in this part of Maine, but the long dirt road to the property was my first indication that this Airbnb is nestled in a wooded area off the beaten track. There is a large meadow which was sunny and warm during my October visit, there are trails right out the back door of the cabin, there is a well stocked kitchen and cupboards filled with bathroom supplies and linens, and the queen room was warm and cozy. I slept well and woke to the sounds of the rooster, perfect!

This cozy house is walking distance from downtown Belfast, the Belfast Rail Trail, and the Belfast Harbor. The house is a romantic nest for two or a crash pad for up to six. Live comfortably while gaining easy access to all the cool adventures Mid-Coast Maine offers. Please note this is a real older house in a real neighborhood. It is eco-friendly and I do not use pesticides. You may see harmless house spiders, birds and plants. If you are looking for a hotel experience, please stay in a hotel.
This lovely bungalow style house has a full kitchen with all the kitchen tools you need to cook using easily obtained local food. It has a microwave, toaster, coffee maker, full stove with oven, all pots, pans and dishes, and all silver and utensils you might need. The Belfast Co-op and two local farmer's markets are walking distance away. The sleeping arrangements offer great flexibility - there is a bedroom with a queen bed, another with twin bunk beds, and also a comfortable futon couch. There is also plenty of room in the yard to set up a tent if you prefer to enjoy the fresh ocean air flowing off the bay. The front porch provides a relaxing place to watch the sky and listen to the wind blow through the willow tree leaves. The house is heated and cooled with a heat pump which allows you to keep the space the perfect temperature at all times. There is a washer and dryer in the basement if you need to cycle some clothes during a longer stay.
The proximity this house provides you to downtown Belfast is awesome. You are only two minutes walking away from Waterfall Arts, an amazing local art center that hosts all kinds of classes for kids and adults, a gallery, lots of events and music, and a farmer's market. Another three minutes walking puts you in the heart of downtown Belfast, which is an amazing small town! Here are some of my favorites: Check out the Colonial Theater for the latest movies in a gorgeous art deco theater with three screens. There are lots of awesome restaurants (faves: Nautlius, Meanwhile in Belfast, Delvino's, Laan Xang, Chase's Daily, Darby's), local breweries/bars (Rollies, Three Tides, Front Street Pub), two delicious ice cream shops (The Chocolate Drop Candy Shop, Wild Cow Creamery), and so many cool stores (Coyote Moon, The Green Store, Colburn's Shoes, Justine, The Good Table, Eat More Cheese, Yo Momma's, Side Country Sports and Bike Shop - you can rent bikes there, and on and on). The Belfast area is chock full of outdoor activities: you can hike, bike, kayak, paddleboard, sail, walk, ski, skate - anything you want, we do it! There are local schooners at the Belfast harbor to book a sailing trip on (Timberwind, Amity), as well as places to rent bikes, kayaks and other gear (Side Country Sports, Water Walker, Ducktrap Kayak). Local trails and preserves include the Belfast Rail Trail, the Hills to the Sea trail, Stover Preserve, Bald Mountain (towards Camden), Head of Tide Preserve, Sears Island (near Searsport), Moose Point State Park, Camden Hill State Park, and so many more! And of course Belfast is a great jumping off place for the full range of what Maine offers: visit Islesboro (twenty minutes drive to ferry, twenty minute ferry ride), Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor (hour and a half drive), Camden and Mount Batty (twenty minute drive), Baxter State Park and Katahdin (two hour drive), on and on...
  • Quaint house in the middle of nowhere. Belfast is an interesting place. Thank you Louisa

    Michael2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • The place really does feel like a little home away from home. It’s spacious, clean, and there is literally everything you need; from spices to board games. The host is super friendly and replies very fast. Everything worked out perfectly and we had an amazing time. Already recommend the place to a friend.

  • You can expect a clean, cozy and carefree atmosphere, just like home. It is easy to relax and sit around the kitchen table with coffee in the morning or spend a casual evening at the cottage with take out food from one of the many restaurants in Belfast. It is close to everything, yet very quiet at night.

    Beth2020-03-06T00:00:00Z

  • This little loft is a gem! It's location is perfect and having the cafe right downstairs was so great, we literally walked out one door and in the other, didn't even need jackets (on a very cold day), and had a wonderful breakfast! The bed is extremely comfortable and I really appreciated all the appliances and dishes available as I hung out there for a good portion of a day while the husband was ice fishing....I stayed in and had coffee and eggs (in the microwave) for breakfast and pizza (in the toaster oven) for lunch. Hot water in the shower never got close to running out for us and Tamika even provides some essential toiletries in case you forget yours. We stayed nice and toasty warm and there were so many blankets provided in case we needed them. All in all, a place we loved to stay, very comfortable and you have to try the cafe when you visit! Top notch hosts!

  • Terrific! Very cozy and warm on a very cold night, great menu to choose from downstairs, and the most welcoming hosts. So lucky to have this sweet space in downtown Unity!

    Julia2020-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • This little apartment sits right over a cafe that the owners own it was a nice little treat to go just a few steps down stairs and have a bite to eat. The hosts are very fast to respond and very gracious. Small touches made the apartment special. The bed was super comfy! Plenty of covers for winter time travel! Percent for 3 people! Right in downtown Unity. Will stay again!

    Emma2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect gem, located right in downtown Unity. Comfy beds, cozy comforters, and great heat system meant we slept warm and snug in spite of single digit temperatures outside. Tamika and Dan are wonderful hosts.

    Penny2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • Clean, cozy and comfortable.

    Joan2019-12-15T00:00:00Z

  • Friendly owners, a nice and cozy place to stay and a good location if you want to drive to Bangor, Waterville or Portland. Tamika is very receptive to questions and concerns. They're also opening a Cafe soon. This will be my go to place to stay the next time I visit Maine.

Old Moses Farm is a working farm in a quiet, rural setting in mid-coast Maine. It is conveniently located for easy access to mid-coast Maine activities. I keep cows; sheep; pigs; laying hens. Two fine dogs and a cat also call this home. It's a little off the beaten path; a little unplugged; safe; farmstyle comfy & clean. You will have great wifi, but will not find a tv or microwave! Your upstairs room and half-bath is private to you. Downstairs, kitchen and full bath with shower are shared!
Expect country casual here! It is cricket chirping quiet most all of the time, but because it is a working farm, you will hear roosters, etc., singing the song of their people as they feel necessary! Read a book; relax; paint; nap or conveniently visit coastal destinations.
Though the farm feels like it is out in the boonies, we are fortunate to have several great restaurants in the near vicinity, ranging from above average dining to local flavor. There are a couple of General stores nearby; wineries/ distillery; an award winning goat creamery. If you are looking for a morning stroll or run, there is a peaceful route to explore.
  • Maureen is a very nice and welcoming person. She is very humble and kind. Her house is very much clean and quiet. I enjoy my stay in Maureen's house very much. You will absolutely enjoy your stay in Maureen's lovely house.

    Wei2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • We very much enjoyed our stay at Old Moses Farm on our way to the Common Ground Fair! Maureen was a lovely host and her farm is beautiful.

  • Mo’s place was fantastic. We loved every minute of our intimate farm stay. You won’t regret meeting her or her sweet companions.

    Madison2019-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • A quiet, peaceful accomodation with an attentive host.

    Kevin2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Mo, the host, is truly a gem and so humble! She has a wealth of experiences, and these touches make the stay so thoughtful and comfortable. She has an lively farm, and her dogs are such funny characters. If you’re in Maine and want to get away from the hustle and bustle to slow down your pace, this is a great place to do so. My only regret is not having stayed longer!! Highlight of my trip.

    Sally2019-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • We very much enjoyed our stay at Old Moses Farm! Wonderful host, peaceful setting, comfortable house, and sweet four-legged company. Thank you, Mo, for your hospitality and excellent conversation!!

    Sandra2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Exceptional accommodations on a bucolic working farm with the most welcoming and attentive host! Truly unique experience, you will not be disappointed. Comfortable, welcoming and very clean home!

    Dolores2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • As a fine arts painter, I look for out of the way places to stay and paint. Mo’s place fit that bill nicely. My host (Mo) was friendly and very helpful in pointing out places to paint and things to do the area. I enjoyed a nice meal at the local cafe (Sweet Season Farm Cafe) and then stopped in at the local Blueberry Festival. My room upstairs had its own entrance and was comfortable, neat and clean. The place is a small working farm, with chickens, cows, sheep, pigs and two large friendly dogs. I would definitely visit again.

  • Cozy, clean, and compact space in Belfast. We hope to come again.

    Deborah2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Cute, cozy apartment just outside Belfast. Just needed a place to crash and this was very lovely. Amy was very friendly when I bumped into her in the evening!

    Katie2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • Amy’s place is a nice place! I stayed there while visiting family. It’s a modern and simple place that has all the essentials- towels, WiFi, Roku and coffee! I found the place to be sparkling clean. I didn’t interact with Amy but I prefer less interaction while traveling as I’m typically too busy and/ or tired from driving to want interaction. It’s just a few minutes outside of town and easy to find.

    Joshua2019-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • A nice little spot on a quiet road. Never met the owner, but that was fine, she was very pleasant and prompt with responses through messages. Had everything I was looking for in a small weekend getaway for a great value

    John2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • Great host, responsive, welcoming. Lovely little cabin! Thanks Amy.

  • The word apartment doesn’t do it justice. It looks and feels like you’re staying in a tiny little cottage! Very clean and quiet. Although the sofa was rather uncomfortable the comfy bed made up for it.

    Karen2019-11-29T00:00:00Z

This beautifully finished tiny house was completed as a labor of love. The wood was cut and milled from the land surrounding it, with charming rustic touches added around the home. The house is a compact & bijou 250sq ft, but comfortably sleeps 2, or a family with a small child.
The upper “bird’s nest” is the perfect place to watch the stars and commune among the fireflies on a Summer night. With ample windows, the outside is brought in to guarantee romantic evenings to remember.
The property is only a stone’s throw from one of America’s most exclusive dining experiences, The Lost Kitchen. The restaurant is housed in a stunningly restored grist mill only a couple of miles away in the nearby town of Freedom. It has been reviewed and revered worldwide, and received 20,000 requests for reservations last year alone. Coastal Belfast is just 15 minutes away to the South, with plenty of restaurant choices and art stores, while Waterville to the North is home to the famous Railroad Square cinema and Big G’s deli, which must not be missed!
  • Tom was super nice and his property was awesome. Great place to view the stars at night. Also right down the road from the the common ground fair! Thanks again Tom!

    Jeffrey2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Tom's hand-built cabin with bathroom facility and outdoor shower adjacent was the perfect upgrade from camping - snug, comfortable, conveniently appointed and homey (hand-painted with glow in dark stars in sleeping loft!) Great for a single and can accommodate a couple, it is a very private setting behind the vegetable garden on his property in a woodsy setting in the hills above the mid-coast towns and the very nice Belfast with it's terrific co-op to anchor, about a 20-25 min drive down the pleasant scenic Rt. 173. Stop at any of the several roadside stores they're all good, open early and late, and Weaver's has a morning bakery as the sun is coming up. Tom and wife are super nice and authentic. Great value, great place, great hosts, and Maine: ME

    Gus2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • The tiney house was awesome! Very comfortable, just like the ones on TV. It was perfect, rustic but comfortable, I spent my days exploring the coastle cities of Maine and hiking. It was so cool to actually stay someplace that was really doing the sustainable lifestyle! I'm def going back again! Tom was super nice, even refunded me when I had to check out early for work, and didn't mind checking me in in the middle of the night lol, it was great!

Burleigh Street is a unique part of town in Waterville. Large old houses on a quiet street along the Messalonskee stream. Many of the houses date back to the late 1800s and early 1900s. Mr. Burleigh built our house in 1915. He and his family lived downstairs and his favorite aunt lived upstairs. Originally a two family house.
  • Thank you for opening up your home to my family and two dogs. It was a highlight of our trip. Hopefully we will be back next year.

  • The cabin was so clean and cozy! They offered linens and snacks as well as lots of tips and suggestions for activities/restaurants for the area. Such a quiet place close enough to Acadia, so you get a full experience. The hosts are so kind and interested in making sure that your trip goes well! Definitely a place we would return to.

  • Jon is a great host providing plenty of suggestion and knowledge of the area. The cabin was impeccably clean with special added touches like no other. We will deffinately be returning.

    Amanda2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful cabin, perfectly laid out and clean. Linens, snacks, somehow no bugs and close to lots of lovely places which Jon can tell you all about.

    Margaret2019-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • My girlfriend and I spent a delightful long weekend exploring the Mid-Coastal region of Maine, with Jon's lovely cabin as a perfect base. Jon and his wife Martha were extremely hospitable, offering us tailored recommendations for places to visit based on our interests. The cabin was spotlessly clean and stocked with unexpected but much appreciated amenities, such as freshly ground coffee, orange juice, milk, and snacks. Whatever your reasons for visiting the area, I imagine you'd be hard pressed to find a more perfect spot.

    Kevin2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay. Jon was a great host. He greeted us as soon as we pulled in and showed us around the cabin. He gave us a lot of suggestions for fun things to do in the area. My daughter was sick and Jon gave told me where the closest hospital was. He also checked in with us to see how she was feeling throughout our stay. Jon was very friendly and thoughtful. The cabin was perfectly clean and comfortable. It was stocked with snacks, fresh ground coffee, tea, and drinks. I would definitely stay here again!

    Rebecca2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Lots of places say “sparkling clean.” This one really is. 4 years old and still brand new. The spot is perfectly serene and the host exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable.

    Jerome2019-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • Jon's cabin is a great little spot off the beaten path. We arrived a little early which was no problem since the cabin is located right next to Jon's house. He was quick to come out and greet us before we even got to the door. Jon was very welcoming and pleasant. He gave us a great background of the cabin and the story of building it as well as his own home. He brought us into the cabin and gave us an overview for our stay. He had freshly ground coffee as well as a stock of snacks, and water and milk in the fridge. The cabin had WiFi which was great. Jon provided us a list of things to do in the surrounding area, Belfast, ME being one of the suggestions that we took him up on. It was a quick little trip with lots to do. Most of our time was in Bangor which was just 40 minutes away so the cabin was in a good spot for us. We communicated with Jon a few times through AirBnB and he was very responsive. Upon our departure, Jon came out to meet us to ensure we had a pleasant time. If/when we return to the area we would certainly check to see if the cabin in available. It's a great place and Jon is an excellent host.

    David2019-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • Jon's cabin is the perfect getaway for a weekend in Maine. Jon claimed the cabin was three years old -- but to be honest, it felt brand new to us! It was immaculately clean, and still smelled of fresh wood. Jon's hospitality was also above expectations -- he provided all kinds of goodies in the cabin (including lots of fresh coffee, cocoa, tea, snacks, and even wine!). He added special touches, like a greeting in Nepali to welcome the guests I was staying with. Also, on size: my group had four people, and we felt comfortable, despite the small space. Though this is a cabin, it still has modern amenities -- the bathroom was fully functional with hot water (unlimited -- no running out of hot water!). In short, I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a secluded, quiet, but comfortable place in Maine.

Modern duplex built recently across the street from a small berry and vegetable farm. This fully furnished home has a large deck with a great view. It is located 2.5 miles from Freedom village and the Lost Kitchen restaurant. It is also 8 miles from Unity College, and the Common Ground Fair fairgrounds. This single story building has a ramp, but it is slightly steeper then current standards. The inside is also laid out for wheelchair access.
This property is located 2.5 miles from Freedom village, so the traffic is nonexistent and the views are beautiful. The farm in the summer is up and running with berries, fruit, veggies, fresh eggs and ponies!
  • Diane and her house is amazing! Diane is the perfect hostess! Extremely thoughtful. The house is spotless! Has everything you need there.

  • Perfect ! A dream AirBnB. I don’t know what to say except „Thank you for this awesome stay“. Recommendable.

    Philipp2019-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • The space itself is sparkly clean, roomy, cozy & well appointed! We arrived late at night and Diane had left the light on for us. It was so nice to wake up to beautiful fall colors! We used the generous selection of homemade jams, English muffins, fresh eggs & Canadian bacon, and a load of fruit (apples, peaches & pears) to cook a big breakfast! Meeting Diane, Kevin & the dogs was an extra bonus!! My advice: if you are anywhere near Unity, book it!! You will not regret it!

We are located down a private driveway that leaves you in a quiet area to relax. Downtown Belfast is a very short drive from the apartment where you will find many wonderful places to eat, play, shop and explore!
  • We had a fantastic time! The place was perfect, clean, and very aesthetic! Host was helpful and easily communicative about any questions we had! Would definitely stay again!

  • A very cozy home away from home. We stayed a week and this place exceeds expectations. Very clean with all the amenities. Nicely decorated and comfortable. There is a lot of attention to detail. Alana was very responsive to quickly answer questions. I highly recommend this place.

  • This is a comfy apartment. We stayed a long weekend and I was able to cook two full meals using the kitchen and we did our laundry in with the provided washer/dryer. The apartment is nice and warm in the wintertime. It has a spacious bathroom with a big shower. It's right off Route 1, easy to find but quiet and secluded. It's a quick walk to the footbridge into the Belfast Riverwalk along the harbor and into downtown. Alana is a great, responsive host and the place was clean and well appointed.

  • This place was beautiful!! The windows are so large and you can see incredible sunrises over the ocean. It was spacious and worked really well for thee of us to stay and a team of five to work out of for an intensive week. We were so pleased!!!

    Julia2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely a beautiful place!!!

    Emily2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Hannah & Thomas’ place was amazing! So trendy, incredibly located, and reasonably priced. I would recommend it for anyone visiting Belfast.

    Danielle2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • This is beautiful and sun filled loft style apartment in a perfect location. Clean, stylish, easy check in, super comfortable, and spacious. Loved it!

    Rhonda2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is an amazing find for midcoast Maine. The apartment is a gorgeous loft apartment with two very spacious, comfortable bedrooms and of course a huge living/kitchen area. Check in was a breeze and you literally have the best of Belfast and midcoast right out your door. Stay in town or go explore all the wonderful offerings of the midcoast. It's lovely not having to drive to get breakfast at Chase's Daily or snacks at the food co-op. It would be very very comfortable for two couples, or a family. A very well appointed kitchen would make having meals at home very easy after a long day exploring. We'll hopefully be back anytime we need to stay in Belfast!

    Emily2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • This beautiful apartment was everything we hoped for and more. Very tastefully decorated, very comfortable (warm and toasty even in frigid winter temps) with a nice couch and tables to spread out for reading and chatting, perfect in-town location, super comfy bed to sink into at the end of the day, quick and friendly response from host when we had questions. Only downside is we wish we could have stayed longer!

    Allison2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • This place is so beautiful! The whole time I was there I was wishing it was my own apartment. Super convenient location and amazing natural light.

    Carly2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Great apartment and wonderful hosts. Cozy, large apartment with beautiful light in a perfect location. Hannah and Thomas couldn't have been more helpful or accommodating. We're considering to retire in Maine for the gorgeous coast and great people and this was another example of how terrific Maine is.

Our private second floor guest suite offers three bedrooms and a bath at our organic farm. Located just one mile from downtown Belfast Harbor, our authentic Maine farmhouse suite provides beds for up to 7 guests. Our farm is within walking distance to restaurants, pubs, parks, hiking trails, and the ocean.
Our guest suite is located on the second floor of our home. The guest suite has a private entrance located at the front of our home- facing the street. When you book our guest suite you are booking the entire second floor. The suite offers three bedrooms and a bathroom. We can accommodate up to seven guests. We will provide clean linens and towels, bathroom necessities, and fresh flowers from the farm for your stay. The Acadia room has a full sized bed, the Russo room has a queen sized bed and the Bouquet room has a twin bed, and full sized futon bed . This provides a total of seven sleeping spaces for up to seven guests. Please review the pictures provided in the listing for additional details about the rooms. The Bouquet room is accessed through the bathroom. We live on the first floor of the home with two cats and a 12 year old. Guests are welcome to walk the 12 acre farm property and enjoy our flock of chickens, backyard fire pit and flower gardens. Of note, our farmhouse is old, and the guest suite is authentic to just that. Funky wallpaper and antique lighting fixtures adorn the guest rooms. The guest bathroom has a tub with an optional hose with spray head for washing hair and rinsing off- this is not set up as a stand up shower, but works perfectly well for a sit down in the tub shower. We have insulated some rooms and evidence presents itself with aging wall paper and foamed holes. Our home is clean, swept, mopped, vacuumed and well kept. That being said, my husband would like it to be very clear that families with young children are advised that our home is old- do not eat the paint on the trim or baseboards. We hope our guests enjoy the farm and all that Belfast has to offer while they stay with us.
Our home is located on the edge of town, directly across the street from the dog park and baseball fields. Our neighbors are a distance away- so our home is generally a quiet place with the occasional noise of traffic going by.
  • This is excellent value for both the accommodation and location near Belfast! Wish I had had more time to stay in this charming historic house, with comfortable bed and good choice of books and a helpful host! I would definitely come back and stay longer! Belfast itself is also well worth a visit!

    Andrew2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Charlie is a great host. The 3 bedrooms 1 bathroom with a a tub (no shower). Amenities include bath soap, shampoo, Kleenex, and toilet paper.

  • Clean, great location, charm and wonderful hosts! We had a lovely stay

    Kathryn2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Charlie was a fantastic host. The space is old - it is an old farm house and says as much in the description - but the bed was super comfy, everything was spotless, check in was super simple and Charlie offered some great suggestions for local dining and drinking. If you’re looking for anything near Belfast this is your place. I’d stay here again in a second.

    Andrew2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • The space was very clean and close to where I needed to be. The host Charlie was great! Thanks for everything!

    Kenneth2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • Charlie is a lovely host, friendly and informative. We enjoyed our stay and especially loved the clawfoot tub and great towels! Old fashioned farm house fun and a great entrance with skeleton key!

This is a woodland cabin that is just waiting for you to snuggle in. Fire pit in the back for campfire fun! This is a small space for a big Maine adventure...💗
This space is pure woodland magic with a front screened in porch and full kitchen and bath. This unique cabin is tucked in the back of the property and is the most private of the three cabins. We've just opened this cabin for January reservations with the caveat that there are winter conditions here in the woods of Maine. Come and enjoy the coziness of a warm, winter cabin visit!
This is a woodland setting located off of route 7 in Jackson. The early morning is filled with the sounds of birds and the warm evening nights are dotted with fireflies. This a beautiful and unique place to decompress from life and to have a little solitude between outings to the local beaches, lakes and hiking trails!
  • This is a lovely peaceful cabin in Maine. It is cozy, clean, and comfortable. Doreen and Jim are attentive hosts. I enjoy staying here when I get the chance. It is a wonderful place to recharge.

    Helen2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Second-timers to this wonderful cabin. Entering into the Beehive is like stepping into peace and tranquility. The decor and furnishings are both charming and comfortable. On a chilly night, the wood cooking stove provides cozy warmth. On a warm night, open the doors for cool breeze. In the morning, you can listen to the birds singing while enjoying a hot cup of coffee. I just can't fully explain how special this place is. The hosts, Jim and Doreen, make you feel so welcomed- we had a fantastic-smelling lit candle and warm stove waiting for us when we arrived. If you are looking for a "happy place", look no further!

    Sarah2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • The Beehive cabin was a truly delightful space for our Valentine's weekend getaway. Jim and Doreen were communicative and accessible while respecting our privacy, and truly hospitable. On the day of our arrival we drove through very wintry conditions and Jim had a fire going in the woodstove for us. The space was charming, clean, stylishly decorated and with all the basic amenities needed: comfortable furniture, reliable electricity and wifi, hot water and a truly gorgeous surrounding landscape. For those looking for fun winter activities (or year round!) nearby, there's Northern Solstice Alpaca Farm and the Community Market 20 minutes west in Unity and Jacobson Glass Studio half an hour south in Montville. We plan to stay again in the future and will recommend this host to friends and family.

    Alex2019-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Jim and Doreen’s cabin is so lovely. I highly recommend staying here, definitely coming back again!

    William2018-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • What a unique property & down-to-earth couple! Jim & Doreen are great hosts. If you are into a rustic environment, with the opportunity for a true cabin experience, then this is the place. Very simple & comfortable. We stayed the first week of November, so we got to heat & cook with the old wood stove! Loved every aspect of being in a cabin!! Thank you Jim & Doreen!!

    Steve2018-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was so cozy! We wanted to pick it up and bring it with us to make it our new home. The hosts are very accessible but give you privacy. Everything was super clean and beautiful. Highly recommend this cabin!!!

    Nicole2018-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for a cozy, warm stay in a rustic cabin, Jim and Doreen's Bee Hive is ideal for one to two people. The cabin was neat and clean and perfect for my mid-October visit to Maine. Jim and Doreen were great at communicating with me in advance of my stay and absolutely accommodating in every way. I would highly recommend this cabin (and these hosts!) to anyone looking for an inexpensive getaway in Mid-Maine.

    Jeff2018-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Staying in the beehive cabin was the highlight of our trip. It poured rain one day and we made a fort in the pillows on the bed in the loft and read and dozed. It was heaven!

Stay on Belfast's New Little River Farm in a well cared for unique 2016 R-Pod travel trailer. Clean, simple, and private. Large, fully-equipped kitchen with running water, full-size bed with a new mattress, propane 2-burner stove, microwave/convection oven, fridge and freezer, high speed WIFI, heat and air conditioning, indoor hot shower, outdoor cedar walled outhouse toilet.
There is a short 80 foot trail through the woods to access the R-Pod from the guest parking area. We have young kids, 2 dogs and chickens. They all make noise. The camper is parked on our property near our home in it's own privately fenced area. We will be respectful of your space but expect to hear the sounds of life around you. We ask that you respect quiet hours of 9PM to 7AM and we will do the same. We will consider families with young children. The kitchen table folds into another sleeping area that can accommodate 1 adult or child, 1 adult and 1 small child, or 2 young children. You will need to bring bedding for the fold-out bed if you plan to use it. If you need a little extra room, there is also room to pitch your tent next to the R-Pod. Feel free to contact us about your needs.
The camper is located on a quiet, paved road in a rural, residential area about 3 miles from downtown Belfast.
  • Staying in Sam's r-pod was a really cool experience. The "pod" was clean and well organized. It just has a comfortable and unique feel. Its close to downrown and yet feels out in the country. I appreciate the eco-friendliness and concern for the enviornment. I would recommend to anyone looking for something a little different.

  • Great option for a private sleeping quarters en route heading north to Acadia! Trailer is a nicely arranged space to enjoy for cooking, sleeping, and sitting around while talking or using mobile devices. Loved aroma of evergreens on paths to trailer and outhouse. Close to center of Belfast, but surprisingly quiet neighborhood for good sleep.

    Carol2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • This Airbnb is better than expected! It’s cute and has all you need! The outhouse is a bit buggy, but much cleaner than anticipated! This family cares about the environment and there are so many details that show this! We loved our time here. The early morning was so beautiful and quiet. It was lovely to sit outside drinking tea while the sun rose. We were grateful for our time here!

    Megan2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • The camper was a lovely way to spend a work night! Check-in couldn't have been easier, the camper was super clean and had enough privacy to feel like a mini get-away. I was glad I brought a blanket, but I chose not to turn on the heat until I got up to shower in the am. Glad I brought shampoo, it's listed in the amenities, but there wasn't soap or shampoo in the shower. Overall, a great place for the money and if I come back in warm weather, I'd check it out again.

    Erika2019-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Sam was very welcoming and the R-Pod is a cool place to stay!

  • Beautiful, quiet, relaxing place for a getaway. The view from the deck is breath-taking- we went during leaf peeping season and were sure to wake up to watch the sun rise!

    Kristen2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • The pictures just don’t do this really unique space justice —the view is breathtaking and the cabin is very cozy. Loved that we were in a very walkable distance to the brewpub yet when you’re at the cabin, you are still secluded and feels private. The host and those we met in the brewpub were super friendly — We definitely hope to return!

  • Really relaxing and beautiful stay! Felt right at home.

    Michelle2019-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • This was the perfect getaway for my husband and I. The views are incredible. The cabin is adorable and cozy. You must go eat the brewpub while you’re here. The food and staff were incredible. Guy was excellent with communication and answered all my messages promptly.

    Rena2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful experience in Guy’s cabin. Not only was the cabin itself charming and perfect for our family get-away, but the brew pub on site with delicious wood-fired pizza, great beer, hard cider and bbq, made our experience OUTSTANDING. I will highly recommend this listing to anyone headed to the Liberty, ME area.

    Molly2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at Guy's cabin - it is truly a special place and you can tell that Guy has put in a lot of thought to make it a wonderful experience for his guests. Our only regret is that we didn't get to spend longer there. Check-in and communication were super easy. We loved that there are trails to explore right out the back door (thanks Guy for your work on this), and as everyone has mentioned, the view from the cabin is amazing. Having the brewpub onsite is convenient but set just far enough to still feel private. The food was excellent! Just a heads up that there's no oven (in case like us you bought certain groceries), but otherwise, the cabin has everything you'd need. We hope to be back enjoying the view!

    Cindy2019-09-15T00:00:00Z

We are excited to have you stay at the Payson Hill Farm- Cabin & Caboose! The Farm dates back to the early eighteen hundreds and the old owners put a lot of work into updating the farm plus building the cabin and caboose! While it's no longer an active farm, we choose to keep the name for the history! We are excited to continue the legacy of the old owners and bring new memories to families coming to Mid-Coast Maine! Follow us on Face Book and Instagram @PaysonHillCabin
This unique space is two separate units but all private while you are visiting! The Caboose has 4 twin beds ( 2 bunk beds) the kitchen and a bathroom. The Cabin can sleep 2 in the queen bed, loft area as 2 twin beds and a bathroom. Please note the loft area has a steep ladder and probably isn't safe for children under 5 years old. Right now, there is no Wi-Fi or TV located on sight. This may change in the future but for now, the space is designed to unplug! There is cell phone service so you shouldn't have any issues with getting or sending messages or calls.
Payson Hill Farm is located just 10 miles (15 minute drive) from downtown Belfast, and 67 miles (1 hour and 36 minutes) to Bar Harbor. Local gas station Weaver's Roadside Variety is 4 minutes down the road if you need anything! Pizza, soda, gas, ice cream, fishing supplies, you name it! Plus the best whoopie pies around! If you're not from Maine, this is our signature dessert and you'll need to try one! Looking for a fresh out of the bay lobster, you'll need to head over to Young's Lobster Pound! Hannaford is our local grocery store and that's 10 miles away (14 minutes) Even though we are located in Knox, you'll want to head to town for all the fun things to do.
  • Such a unique and cozy place!

  • Our family of 8 very much enjoyed our stay at Laura’s cabin & caboose! It was really an ideal spot for us. The 4 boys loved sleeping and playing in the caboose. Our girls were thrilled with the loft. We had 2 very cozy and pleasant evenings together. The fireplace great! Home away from home!

    Adam2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • Laura and Chris's cabin and caboose are nothing short of amazing, from the milky way at night to the trails and coffee in the morning. Both spaces are impressive with their comfy touches. Laura was a great host by accommodating us at the last minute and the space was absolutely immaculate. Also, there's an apple orchard and the cabin/caboose fits 8 people with two bathrooms-like you needed more convincing. I'll undoubtedly be back! Thank you!

    Lea2019-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • This is wonderful place to stay. Both Caboose and Cabin are very unique and we love both of the exterior and interior. I really appreciate that Laura offered this place for me to propose to girlfriend. Our friends also enjoyed staying with us. We would definite come back again in the future.

  • Dan is a great person. His home is cozy and warm. The twin beds were much more comfortable abd suprising as I expected college form style i was wrong. I also the the property layout. His helpful little cheat sheet of the area is perfect. If you've never been and you like seafood try anglers get the pie its worth it. The chickens were a nice touch and it was absolutely beautiful there. No complaints was a great place to visit.

    Kristen2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Dan is an excellent host! Went above and beyond in accommodations, especially considering the cost! Beautiful cabin on a gorgeous property. The chickens were fun too!

    Jen2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • The place is a cute log cabin in a nicely wooded area. It was close to Bangor and we used it as a central hub to explore Maine. Dan was very nice and helpful. Breakfast was included and it was nice having a vacation so we didn't have to eat out every meal. Enjoyed our stay and the peace and quite of the cabin.

    Melissa2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • A great, quiet place to stay. Dan is a fantastic and an accommodative host. My wife and I enjoyed our stay greatly.

    Thomas2019-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Great value! This little homestead is very remote but closer to Bangor. You can sit on the front porch and feed the chickens. Out just admire the nature.

    Kimberly2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing log cabin with a private garden filled with vegetables, animals and surrounded by woods. A true get a way in the woods of Maine.

    Maddy2019-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • We had a brilliant time staying with Dan! The log cabin is beautiful, well equipped, cosy, and so, so welcoming. Dan is a true gentleman, very laid back, and so gracious and considerate. The guest experience has been so throughly thought about - everything was labelled for the convenience of the guests, from kitchen cupboards, to light switches, to shelves in the linen closets where fresh, clean towels were provided on a help-yourself basis. The beds were cosy and clean, the living space snug and friendly. The garden is incredable! If you are an animal lover, then there are chickens that roam free, who will run up to you if you shake the jar of cracked corn that lives on the porch. It was a brilliant, brilliant stay! Highly recommended!

  • We really enjoyed the cabin in the woods, and both host and guests were very hospitable.

Welcome to Maine and lake life! This cozy little cabin is a stones throw away from the waters edge. Enjoy the deck and dock as you watch the loons, bald eagles and other local wildlife. Our guests have access to our kayaks and canoe if you want to get off the shore and out into the water. The pond is great for swimming and perfect for small children. Take a little time for yourself and enjoy the peace and serenity of the pond. Check out our larger main Lodge https://abnb.me/WG8ppGX6vY
About an hour and a half from Portland and Acadia National Park, this tiny cabin puts you close enough to it all at an extremely reasonable price point! Where else can you get enough room to sleep 4-6 people (6 if you have kids) people that is lake front with access to kayaks, canoe, BBQ and a fire pit at this price?!? Enjoy the serenity of the waters edge where you will hear the welcoming call of your neighbors- the loons and Bald Eagles.
Easy access to nearby Pittsfield, Skowhegan or Newport for shopping and dining. Access to Interstate 95 is just minutes away.
  • I would give 10 stars. Jamie and Sam, the cozy cabin and it’s location far exceeded my expectations. Sam and Jamie are very friendly, helpful and generous (!!!), yet respected privacy and space. I couldn’t recommend this sweet, rustic cabin and hosts more.

    Sarah2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing little cabin with everything and more!!! Beautiful views of the lake peaceful atmosphere and a warm cabin for those chili October nights. Sam was absolutely great a text away but we got all the privacy we could ask for even though the main house is a few steps away. The cabin was spotless, comfy and plenty of room. We were able to cook our dinner in the BBQ and our breakfast in the little oven. A good size refrigerator in the cabin made it a lot easier then using a cooler. I was very hesitant of the outside shower for those chili October nights but it was the best thing ever!!! We did not use the kayaks but Sam made sure we knew there were available. We will definitely return during the summer so we can make a better use of the lake. Thank you for having us.

    Anastasia2019-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay at Sam’s place. We spent most of our trip at Acadia, but the cabin is nearby other nature sights, plus there were kayaks we could have used. The heater kept us warm when we were worried we might get cold. Sam and Jamie were kind and communicative and we couldn’t have asked for more responsive and attentive hosts! This cabin felt spacious despite the fact that we had four people there, and it’s a great value. We would certainly return.

    Ashley2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Sam's place was exactly as described but even more comfortable and enjoyable than I expected!

    Elizabeth2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay. Please make sure you understand how to use the compostable toilet- we didn’t have that 100% aright. Otherwise, lovely place!

    Kaitlyn2019-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • Really great stay , very private, and a very cute cabin with a beautiful view !

    Kidder2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I had a lovely time. Only regret was that we were so busy with our plans, we didn’t plan out more time to actually hang out at the cabin and go canoeing. Next time!

    Sophia2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • Sam was extremely responsive to all of my questions. The directions were very clear and we had no problem finding the cabin. It was very rustic and quaint- the perfect place to spend some time away from life's craziness and unwind!

Welcome to a cozy, private, off-grid cabin on our small organic farm and homestead. Nestled on the edge of the forest, with sunny views of our orchard and fields. Farm-fresh vegetables, fruit and meat available seasonally for cooking in a fully stocked kitchen. We are just up the road from Lake St. George State Park, and a short drive from diverse recreational and dining opportunities. We are 20 minutes from Belfast, a small, bustling coastal town. 35 minutes to Camden. All are welcome!
This cabin is truly special. When we moved here, it was a rustic, dark log cabin and it was the only structure on the farm. Last year we decided to renovate it and now it is a beautiful, bright and welcoming space. The cabin has a double bed in a little bedroom nook, a futon that folds out into a queen sized bed, a kitchen table, a desk space and a fully equipped kitchen with a 4 burner stove and an oven. Whereas this space is in excellent condition, please note that it is currently completely off-grid. This means that there is no electricity, running water or wi-fi in the cabin. During the day it is lit by the sun , at dark it is lit by battery-powered and oil lanterns. The bathroom is a clean outhouse 10 feet from the cabin and the shower is an outdoor solar shower on the side of the cabin. There is both a propane heater for your convenience, as well as a wood-burning stove. Upon your arrival there will be 3 gallon water jugs filled with fresh well-water. There is also a water pump 25 feet from the house where you can always refill! This is an opportunity to stay in a comfortable, finished cabin while also taking a moment to unplug from the daily grind.
Montville is a secret gem of a town. Whereas it feels off-the-beaten-path it is also centrally located and within reach of many bustling towns and recreational areas. We live 5 miles from Lake St. George State Park, where there is swimming, boating, a nice playground and grilling sites. We are minutes from several Midcoast Conservancy Hiking Trails. Our farm is located on secluded part of a beautiful country road and if you continue walking or biking down our road, you will come to old, maintained fields mixed with forest and eventually a little bridge passing over the Sheepscot River. Within a 5- 40 minute drive you can access dozens of other hiking trails, biking trails, boating opportunities, several state parks, restaurants, local breweries, independent movie theaters, shops etc. Liberty village is 8 minutes away with the famous Liberty Tool Co., Belfast is 20 minutes with the Belfast Food Co-Op and many restaraunts, Camden Hills area is 35 minutes, Waterville is 35 minutes, Unity and the Commonground Fairgrounds is 20 minutes and Acadia National Park 1.5 hours.
  • Cozy spot for a winter mid coast getaway. Easy access to all things nature and all things small town Maine. Really enjoyed having the quiet and solitude this cabin offered. Maia and Jacob were responsive hosts! Want to come back in summer to see their farm in the growing season.

  • A perfect getaway from the city. Quiet, beautiful and simple. A great place to unwind and relax. The cabin is well setup and clean. A definite highlight to our trip.

    Trevor2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was perfect for our short fall trip in Maine! Maia and Jacob manage to offer an off the grid experience that is unique, simple and comfortable, complete with romantic oil lamp lighting, a great collection of books and games, and beautiful views around the property. Be aware that cell service might be spotty in the area. If you think you may need more light, you could always bring your own headlamp. Though we didnt get to meet our hosts Maia was super communicative and provided great instructions for getting there and recommendations nearby as well. Highly recommend!

    Sara2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • We had the absolute best time at this quaint little off-grid cabin. We cannot wait to return, hopefully for longer next time :)

    Eugenia2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay in the little cabin. It was clean, private, cozy + simple. Sitting on the screened porch in the evening and morning was the best part. Super sweet place! Would stay again!

    Courtney Jean2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was spectacular. I loved feeling away from everything else and working hard to be resourceful. It's very nice and cozy and the oil lanterns really do give off a romantic vibe.

Beautiful hand built cabin, overlooking Cotton Pond. Ten minutes from Camden, the sailing mecca of the east coast. Solar lights, (we are off the grid) gravity fed kitchen water, gas-hot water outdoor shower, outhouse overlooking the forest. Hiking trails everywhere! Swimming across the road on Hobbs Pond.
Our cabin is placed overlooking a pond, the setting is beautiful, peaceful, and private. The way the cabin is set up, helps you reconnect with a simpler way of life. (Our cabin is not set up to charge electronic devices.)
We love the natural setting, the peace and quiet and the wildlife. We own property across the dirt road, on Hobbs pond, that has kayaks, a canoe and is a beautiful swimming pond.
  • An amazing cabin, perfect location, everything was perfect , Steve and Julie are very polite and definitely going back, perfect experience!

  • This cabin is truly a special place that’s amazing for getting away and soaking in the beauty of nature. All the amenities you need to be comfortable while still being disconnected from civilization in the best way possible. The cabin is truly a work of art with so much thought put into every detail.

    Chris2019-09-22T00:00:00Z

    Quent2019-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • Dear future travelers, this cabin is paradise incarnate. If you’re someone who likes to trod on the path less discovered, disconnect from all the craaaziness of our world, be at one with nature, and want to live IN art... then this is the place for you! We simply can’t recommend Julie & Steve’s cabin in the woods enough. (Although we secretly wish we could keep their place aaall to ourselves!, ha-ha.) Julie was an absolute pleasure to communicate with, so very quick in her response time, & extremely accommodating as we had a couple unusual requests. Our only regret was not having the opportunity to meet Julie & Steve :( But we intend to return again... & aaagain... and hope to be able to thank these two kind souls in-person for sharing this little piece of paradise with us & the Airbnb community at large. THANK YOU AGAIN JULIE & STEVE!

Motherwort Farm is a homestead and herbal sanctuary located in Swanville, Maine. On 15 acres we grow vegetables, keep egg layers, meat birds, have a small orchard, berries, a solar hot water system, photovoltaic system and medicinal herb gardens. Our property includes a pond, woodlands and river. Belfast is 10 minutes away. The cabin is off grid and unheated in a rural Maine backyard. Consider it one step up from camping: bring your own sleeping bag, head lamp, bug spray, and tent for tent site.
The cabin is a small off-grid 12x12 studio with a queen in the loft and couch/bed queen below. Nestled in the trees at the back of our field, a short walk to the pond, river, your own outdoor cooking space and fire pit (bring a camp stove to cook), access to the main outdoor kitchen, outdoor shower, fire pit. Walk past the outhouse and Bee Tree Tent Platform, past the blueberries, herbs, vegetables, you'll find a cozy, secluded, magical place, that's the cabin. No electricity, no toilet, a walk to the outhouse, insulated but not heated in winter, rustic, beautiful, and yes it is outside so you will see plants, tall grass and even bugs!
Swimming, sailing, hiking, playing outside, gardening, growing food, learning, the area is rich with beauty, culture and tons of things to do! We do live on a road so you can hear cars. We are 10 minutes from Swan Lake State Park!
  • Such a good place to stay, totally surrounded by nature. Daniel gave me a lot of great tips, thank you !

  • This place will not be for everyone.. if you need electricity, AC, kitchen, modern bathroom, etc look elsewhere.. But, if you want to step back in time, the quiet of nature, intimate space, and a great breakfast served by Gretchen’s children, this may be for you!

    Karl2019-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay especially if your headed to Acadia. We stayed in the Cabin at Motherwort Farm. Simple and cozy cabin nestled in the woods... would love to come back to see the farm in all its glory during the summer time. Thanks!

  • An amazing little cabin on beautiful land. A lovely way to unwind.

    Malena2019-04-29T00:00:00Z
  • Nice and simple. Not heated but stayed warm on a rainy April night. Make sure to bring flashlights/ headlamps. The upper bed was fine for us but I can imagine it might be a little restrictive for larger people. But, the tight space helped up stay warm. The large window allows in a lot of light so the space feel airy and roomy. We appreciate that the hosts left a large jug of drinking water for us. Our kids really enjoyed the space especially a great pillow fight on that fun fold down couch/ bed. Thank you for a cozy experience and an easy stay. Your family was so welcoming.

    Blair2019-04-28T00:00:00Z
  • This is beautiful small cabin with one comfortable bed and lots of privacy. When I went in April it was a bit cold, the first night was colder than the rest but with the wool blankets that Gretchen provided and my sleeping bag I slept so comfortable. The outhouse it’s closer to the main house than the cabin, so if you need to use it at night bring a flashlight. Don’t forget to read the article in the binder, about the history of the area. It was very informative and I appreciate it. I had such a relaxing time, thank you.

  • This is our second stay at Edwards place, we loved sharing it with our grown children and our granddaughter.

    George2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Edward has a beautiful place at a great price. Much better than expected! I would love to stay there again.

    Steve2019-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • The pictures and description really don't do justice to how delightful the cottage is. My friend and I agreed we could easily move right in. We arrived fairly late after driving through the country. Wondering where on earth we could find food, I called Ed who suggested the general store in Washington. By all means, plans to get your meals there. The pizza was very good, the staff were friendly, and the some of the local folk chatted with us in the morning as we enjoyed a breakfast of quiche.

    Connie2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Edwards place was nice.

    Katie2019-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying here! Edward voluntarily went out of his way to go back to the property and turn the lights on when I mentioned we would have a late arrival. We especially loved fresh blueberry pancakes at the cafe the morning after our stay. Thank you for your exceptional hospitality and beautiful home.

    Hilary2019-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • The space was larger than we expected, peaceful and very clean. It’s in a lovely area away from busy streets and has fields and a wooded area you can walk through. The store is only open on weekends (as stated in the description), which looked really nice. This place reminded me of growing up without internet, etc, which was very idyllic for us. Ed was very accommodating when we had to alter our reservation.

    Liv2019-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful spot if you looking for a quiet get away this is the place... country setting all the comforts of home will definitely stay here again next time I’m down this way... Thank You
