  • My favourite airbnb I’ve stayed at this far over the last little while! Cute little place, sparkling clean and Barry is a great host! Would highly recommend!

    Vanessa2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great stay here. The home is beautiful and tastefully decorated. Barry was easy to reach and easy to communicate with. Would definitely stay here again.

  • We had an excellent stay, great location, 45 minutes outside of gander, 25 minutes to farewell for fogo ferry. If you want to do a day trip to gander or fogo, great location. Anyone who wants to snowmobile perfect location. The hospitality was excellent, enjoyed the space. Very communicative. The accommodations could be 2 couples or family of 3-4. I recommend this to anyone who want to explore that area. We will definitely be returning.

A cozy cottage nestled in Muddy Cove of Cobb's Arm, this place offers a beautiful view of the ocean. A bright, open space, our cottage has all of the necessary amenities to make your stay enjoyable. 15 minutes from nearby Twillingate and Iceberg Alley, you are sure to see whales and icebergs in May and June while enjoying warm Newfoundland hospitality throughout the year. 5 minutes from Pikes Arm Lookout and other beautiful hikes. Easy day trip to Fogo Island! Kayaks for use at own risk.
Pets will be considered. Please don't hesitate to ask.
  • Dave's place was amazing! The view outside was beautiful, it's exactly what we needed. Herring Neck is very close to Twillingate and not too far from the ferry if you want to cross over to Fogo Island. The spot was just perfect.

    Vanessa2019-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • The house is beautifully situated on the waters of Cobb's Arm. It looks newly renovated inside and has pretty furniture and nice seaside decorations. The kitchen is well equipped - just remember to go shopping beforehand because there is no shop in Cobb's Arm. All this is described in detail in the information that Jen and Dave provide with the check-in instructions. We highly recommend this cute little house!

    Thorsten2019-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Great destination! The space is beautifully clean and decorated. The view is spectacular and after daily excursions it is a cozy and quiet place to call home. It is spacious and well equipped with Netflix!

  • A lovely cottage that is about 10 to 15 minute drive from Twillingate. It was very clean and tastefully decorated with all the necessary amenities.

  • We stayed at this cottage for 3 nights with another couple and really enjoyed it! The place is very well appointed, with everything you need in the kitchen and bathroom, even q-tips and band-aids! The beds are super comfy, and there are plenty of bed and bath linens available. Nice little touches like cards and a cribbage board were great too. Outside there is a gorgeous deck, firepit, and 2 kayaks available, as well as a lovely charcoal bbq (our steaks were delicious on this grill). We enjoyed touring around the twillingate area while returning to the quiet and tranquil cove each afternoon and evening. If you walk just past the cottage you will find a trail that takes you to a lovely little cove with 2 horses! So much to see and do in this area, we are already planning to return next summer! Dave and Jennifer are great hosts, and they responded to any questions we had promptly. Thank you for a wonderful vacation spot!

    Lauren2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage has a gorgeous view, and shows exactly what it looks like in the picture. We had a very comfortable stay.

  • Am absolutely incredible house. The view, the quiet and the house. All superb. Thanks Dave and Jen for the incredible stay.

    Mitch2019-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • This was a perfect place to stay and it fully met our needs. It was quiet and we loved the available kayaks to have early morning paddles before heading out to tour some of the villages. It was about 18 minutes to drive into Twillingate. Dave had excellent recommendations of what to see/do/eat in the area and we followed pretty much all of them. A highlight was definitely Pike's Arm lookout, which was literally 5 minutes away and we had the lookout to ourselves on a beautiful day. Thanks much to the hosts! We would stay again in a heartbeat.

Travel through time as you enter this newly restored Old Salt Box home with all the modern conveniences. While taking in the ocean view, imagine nearly a century ago when ten men and a horse pulled the house across the ice from nearby Ship Island to where you now stand in Pike's Arm. You'll discover original artifacts from decades past, reminiscent of when the house was a family home and a community museum. Add a stay at The Museum to your list of Newfoundland adventures.
PLEASE NOTE: THE MUSEUM IS LOCATED IN THE COMMUNITY OF PIKES ARM (not in Herring Neck as incorrectly shown on the Airbnb 'Location'). Our home in Pike's Arm is about 25 minutes from Twillingate and an hour from the ferry to Fogo Island, both popular tourist destinations. View the ocean from the front and back of the house and, depending on your luck, catch sight of a whale and maybe even an iceberg! A beautiful lookout where you see breathtaking views of the surrounding area is only a five minute walk from The Museum. Our home is a completely renovated one bedroom, two storey Old Salt Box home with the modern conveniences of a new home. The loft bedroom has a queen size bed with a spectacular view of the ocean. There is a three piece bathroom ensuite and a two piece powder room on the main floor. All main living spaces have a view of the ocean.
The Museum is an ocean front (and back) home located in Pike's Arm, a small outport community. A tiny collection of homes dots this beautiful outport ocean landscape. If you need a few basics, there is a variety store located in Cobb's Arm about a ten minute drive from Pike's Arm. The town of Twillingate (about twenty minutes away from Pike's Arm) has two grocery stores, a bank, pharmacy, liquor store (The Mercantile), and a post office, as well as many sights and attractions. Take a walk through Twillingate and visit the gift shops, craft brewery, museums, art galleries and fish market. Perhaps you'll take a whale watching tour. The restaurants and coffee shops in the area offer a variety of traditional Newfoundland delights. Maybe you're in town for the Fish, Fun, and Folk Festival. Take in the Dinner Theatre or other musical events in town. It's worth the fifteen minute drive from Twillingate to the town of Crow Head to savour the view at the Lighthouse. Hike one of the many beautiful trails in the area while you're there.

  • We along with another couple spent three nights at Alvin's Chalet. The Chalet is wonderful, super clean and comfortable. All is as described but better. It really is situated on a peaceful pristine bay with spectacular views that await you after a day of touring. During our stay Alvin's property manager contacted us twice to ensure all was well. These folks want you to have a good stay. Upon arrival we were met with a hand written note and a bottle of wine. Alvin you make a good wine. We enjoyed the hiking trail behind the Chalet, the colorful benches and hand painted rocks of Newfoundland scenes along the trail are a nice touch. In all we had a fantastic time touring the eastern portions of Newfoundland. Staying at Alvin's Chalet was part of what made this a memorable trip.

Newly constructed cottage, no corners cut here. The exterior was done in a spruce wood siding, while the interior was done in a local spruce shiplap, white washed for a soft appearance. The cottage is clean, decorated with old and new so that it maintains that cozy feel. The fireplace adds a warm ambiance. You have access to hiking trails across the island, where you may come across Foxes, Caribou, Whales or Icebergs depending on the time of year. Don't forget to visit the Newfoundland ponies.
Island Harbour was founded in 1864. Located off the beaten path. Island Harbour was the hub for sealers from Fogo Island. Island Harbour was a fishing town, now that the fishery is closed, the fishing premises that once thrived remained unused and falling down. There has been little development in Island Harbour since the closure of the fishery. The residents of the community are always willing to share some history, just ask
  • A hidden gem!! Perfect place with prompt kind support from host and family. Wine on the porch and local stories a treasure. Thank you with kindness. See you again.

    Linda Ann2019-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • This house is a gem. Beautiful decor and what a view on the harbour! The area is extremely quiet, you will sleep very peacefully. The house is brand new but the decor is a good mix of traditional Fogo style (quilts) and contemporary. it’s got all the amenities, just be mindful internet connection is scarce and driving is involved to visit the main communities of Joe Batt’s arm (20min) and Fogo. We didn’t mind the drive cause it was so nice to come back home to this. Highly recommend it.

    Isabelle2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful, new home in a wonderful position

    Sara2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • A little slice of Heaven on Fogo Island! We were absolutely impressed with the finishes of Tanya's place, including the beautiful handmade quilts on the beds. It was everything we hoped for in a stay, and more. Thanks for everything!

    Natalie2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Tanya's place was so well furnished and had everything we could ever need. There were gorgeous antique dishes in the cupboards and locally made quilts on the beds, which really made it feel like an authentic Fogo Island experience. Her house was right on the water and provided the perfect getaway to relax and watch the sunset. We will definitely be back.

    Darlene2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • The house was exceptional - modern, clean, and with all the amenities needed for a wonderful stay. Sitting on the front porch watching the sun set over the harbour was a true highlight.

    Pam2019-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • No need to spend 2000 $ at the Big Inn ! Staying at Tanya's new house is much more fun ! You can be part of a village at Fogo Island with the locals by lodging at this beautiful and gorgeous house at Island Harbour ! Everything is new in the house and it is decorated with great taste and style ! The View from the house on the cove is magnificent, and you will appreciate the great hospitality of the people from Island Harbour ! Enjoy the Island at its best by having breakfast or dinner at the Cod Jigger Diner, an authentic restaurant for the locals in Fogo ! Go to Fogo, have fun, do some trekking, and then, sit on the balcony of this beautiful home and enjoy watching from your Cove, the fishermen coming back to shore from the sea...

Change Islands, NL Its a magical place! Accessible by coastal ferry, time stands still in this beautiful , rugged, historic place. The song Squid Jiggin Grounds was written here and we have icebergs, whales, hiking trails for all levels of hikers, a museum, an interpretation centre, the Change Islands Newfoundland Pony Santuary, the Tickle full of red stages and stores. We are 11.9 kms from the boat. Left hand side of the road. Blue bungalow. Just past the small helipad Orange Windsock
Quiet and quaint on an Island off an Island....peaceful....
Change Islands is an outport community of approximately 300 residents in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador, located between Notre Dame Bay and the Labrador Sea, on the northeast coast off the island of Newfoundland. Change Islands actually spans three small islands of the same name, two of which are populated. Each island is separated from the other by a "tickle", which is a narrow strait in Newfoundland English. The northern island (unpopulated) and middle island are separated by the North Tickle. The middle and southern islands are separated by the Main Tickle. The South Island is larger, containing more marshes/bogs, and wooded areas. The Middle Island is smaller, mostly barren, and the Northern Island is smaller yet, but unpopulated and difficult Change Islands was first settled in the early 1700's by European settlers as a series of random settlements around the islands tied to seasonal fishing activity. The town as we now know it developed into a cohesive community in the 20th century as the population gravitated towards the main tickle due to such things as resettlement, access to government services and changes in technology (ie. motorized boats). The community peaked in size in the early 1900's when it was the hub of the schooner fleet working the Labrador fishery. The residents of Change Islands have preserved many of their traditional homes, stages, and stores (fishing sheds); most of these landmarks have disappeared in much of coastal Newfoundland and Labrador with the collapse of the ground fishery. Known for its beauty, cleanliness and preservation of the past, Change Islands is the perfect place to hike, to kayak and enjoy the outdoors on an island in the ocean.
  • Friendly and very willing to help with whatever you might need.

  • Our 2 day stay at Dennis and Paula's place was as good as it gets and we've stayed in Airbnb places all over the world. The room was perfect for us. The bed is comfortable and the bathroom and shower were just fine but, what will make your stay on Change Islands even more special, is the hospitality, friendliness and kindness of Paula and Dennis. We were there on my birthday and, after a full day of exploring the island and hiking the beautiful Squid Jiggers trail, we came back to find that Paula had put up birthday decorations, baked a cake and made a fresh cod dinner for us to celebrate my birthday. Their generosity and kindness made my birthday one of the most memorable I have ever had. We fell in love with Change Islands during our brief stay there. It is quaint, picturesque, friendly and very much still a small fishing outport that is delightful to explore. Be sure to visit Pete's Olde Museum too. You'll be entertained beyond your wildest imagination. Our only regret is not having stayed longer. We would love to return and we would stay at Dennis and Paula's place again without any hesitation. Highly recommended!

  • Paula was a wonderful hostess!!! Her directions made it very easy for us to find her house, the room was very clean & comfortable, she made herself available, if we needed anything & was very welcoming & friendly. Felt like staying with friends😀😀

  • Our experience at Off da Tickle was amazing. The host went above and beyond our expectation and went out of their way to ensure our comfort during our stay. Will definitely recommend this place and we certainly will be back again.

    Margaret2019-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • Paula and co is why I choose to use AIR BandB - Never was in doubt or question - was well cared for and thoroughly enjoyed exploring the tickle - a photographers paradise - while making some new friends

    Jane2019-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • We wish we could give Paula and Dennis more than five stars. They are thoughtful, warm, very cool and talented people. Their encyclopedic knowledge of the island and its stories added a depth to our adventure that we couldn’t have anticipated.

    Change Islands, NL, Canada

Uncle Ben’s A well-preserved heritage home centrally located in downtown Change Islands (population 200), Uncle Ben’s house overlooks Skinner’s Harbour with a distant view across the water of the hills of Fogo Island. Rugged natural beauty, scenic fishing stages, and the legendary warmth and hospitality of Newfoundlanders combine to make Change Islands a very special place.
Ben Diamond’s grandfather, Ben Ledrew, built this home at the turn of the last century. When the first diesel generating plant brought electricity to Change Islands in 1963, Ben saw no need for the comforts and conveniences of connection to the grid. Ben continued to live in this house, without electricity or running water, for his entire life. A small wood stove in the kitchen was the principal source of heat. When I acquired the house from Uncle Ben’s nephews in 2010, it was in almost museum-quality condition, with original linoleum floors and many layers of wallpaper dating back over 100 years. Restoring the house so as to retain its many layers of history, while still providing the basic amenities of modern life, such as electricity and running water, has been a seven year labour of love (or folly, some might say). The bathroom is entirely new and the kitchen has been substantially upgraded while preserving the original tongue-in-groove walls and ceiling, and the wood floor. The rest of the house has been left as much as possible in its original condition with the various layers of wallpaper exposed in many of the rooms and the original linoleum floors, and linoleum fragments, kept in place. With the exception of the mattresses, the furniture is also all original to the house. Outside the traditional wooden clapboard and wooden windows have been repainted in the typical white of Change Islands, with the tile red trim which matches the many stages and stores on the island. Except for a small area immediately around the house, most of the yard has been left to grow wild; long native grasses interspersed with wildflowers dominate the meadow behind the house.
The house is located directly across the road from the water. Everything on Change Islands is within walking distance; the house is a five minute walk from the general store and one of the two local restaurants on the island. There are numerous hiking trails and, for those who enjoy swimming in waters frequently visited by icebergs, some spectacularly scenic swimming spots. For families with young children there is a brand new public playground in the schoolyard. The Change Islands Newfoundland Pony Refuge is of interest to all ages; rides can be usually be arranged for children. Summer days are very long, but if you stay up late enough for the sky to turn dark there are some great opportunities for stargazing just beyond the lights of the town. When the capelin are running (typically in late July and August) whales can often be seen swimming off the coast. Local fishermen have been known to offer curious tourists boat rides and to take them out fishing. (There is a recreational cod fishery open at various times over the summer; consult the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada website for the dates of the Newfoundland and Labrador Recreational Groundfish Fishery.)
  • We are two couples traveling to Change Islands to celebrate a milestone birthday and were looking for a classic, old time Newfoundland experience. Uncle Ben’s was the perfect fit for our trip. The views from the kitchen window and bedrooms windows are wonderful. George was very accommodating for any special requests we made and provided lots of advice for things to see, do, and places to eat.

    Rose2019-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • Great hospitality and wonderful people. The house is full of history and George will gladly share it with you, all you have to do is ask. I loved it

    Denise2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • George was a truly incredible host, who made sure my partner and I had a beautiful, community oriented experience on Change Islands. He called around to arrange a variety of special things for us with local friends and gave us tours of many special places on the islands. We also had an incredible time fishing with George in his punt out on the ocean, and even saw a whale! The community on Change Islands is so incredibly warm and caring, and the coast and forests you can explore are gorgeous. Five thumbs ups for this Airbnb!

    Sarah2019-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • A very special place with exquisite hosts. George will meet your every need and make your stay extra special. The house was a dream, and I wandered the old rooms with bated breath, not knowing which treasure I'd come across next. Spotless, roomy, full working kitchen, very comfy beds with a view looking right into the ocean. It was a wonderful stay, an exciting trip back to the past. Thank you George, we can't wait to return ! Five Stars !

    Elizabeth2019-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • George is a fabulous host who has taken painstaking efforts at restoring Uncle Ben’s house. I very much appreciated all the details of this over-a- century old house. We had everything we needed for our two night stay. The kitchen is well equipped and the parlor very cozy. The bed we used -of two available- was very comfortable. The hikes in the area are some of the best ocean strolls I have ever experienced, both the ruggedness of the Squid Jiggers trail and peacefulness of the Shoreline Trail. • Such a welcome retreat! We enjoyed it so much we extended our stay. George is an exceptional and warm host - he showed us beautiful places in our area and introduced us to our Change Island neighbors. The house is full of pentimento-filled charm. Thank you, George - and Ben!

    Marta2019-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful location and charm. Takes one back to another century. Great internet. Good place to read a novel and take a hike. Bring your own food and wine. The water in shower has a strong sulfur smell but drinking water is provided.

  • Our family of four, including two small children, had a great time at Uncle Ben's. It was clean and true to the description and George couldn't have been more helpful.

Grandma Js: A lovingly restored, Canada Select 4.5 star, oceanfront home with modern conveniences. Make it your own special retreat! The 100+ year old saltbox welcomes guests to magical Herring Neck. The 1st floor is an open great room with a dramatic ocean view picture window. Upstairs 13' foot vaulted ceilings welcome you to the bedrooms and a 2nd bathroom with an oversized shower. You're 1 hour 15 minutes from Gander Airport, 15 minutes from Twillingate and 45 minutes from Fogo Island Ferry.
The first floor is a great room with a stunning view through a 13’ long picture window. There is also a mudroom, a bathroom with a 62" clawfoot tub, and a utility area. The second floor is accessed by century old wooden stairs where you will find spectacular 13' foot high vaulted ceilings in both bedrooms and a second full bathroom with a soaring ceiling, a gorgeous skylight, and oversized shower.
  • I can’t say enough about this charming little saltbox style house; rustic charm and style yet with all of the modern amenities one could want and need. My girlfriend immediately claimed the downstairs bathroom with the claw foot tub for her bubble baths. No worries, I got the upstairs modern bathroom with a spacious shower large enough to do yoga in (which I did not, nor know how). Apple TV, satellite TV, heat in every room, stocked kitchen, bay views... what more could you ask for? The best host on earth you say? Done. Paul is exactly that and will take care of every detail and can give great local advice and tips. Do yourself a favor: stay here and thank me and Paul later!

    Jason2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!! This is a wonderful place that, if possible, is even nicer than the pictures. The location is perfect for a quiet holiday with great access to local communities. Paul is a great host - helpful and knowledgeable and just a nice person. Without hesitation we believe this is our favourite AirB&B, and we have had quite a few stays in many locations. The combination of this place, its location, as well as our host made it exceptional. Thank you, Paul.

    Janice2019-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • Paul was a great host, he was very invested in us enjoying our stay in the house and the area! The house was wonderful, spectacular views and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay!

  • Grandma J’s was such a beautiful getaway for us! The beautiful decor, comfortable furnishings, the wifi and options for TV are all first rate! The house is so charming with lots of antique furnishings coupled with modern appliances for cooking and relaxing . The beds are very cozy and comfortable with lovely duvets and many home made quilts to enjoy! The claw foot tub is so inviting and the oversized shower upstairs is another amazing addition to this house! We couldn’t have asked for a better place to relax and unwind after a busy summer . The views of the ocean and landscape calmyour soul! Our host , Paul was very considerate, courteous and helpful in checking in to make sure we had everything we needed . He also gave us some great advice for things to do in the area and we had a great time pursuing some of these things! We would highly recommend Paul as an Airbnb host.. ( we think he’s a Super host!).. and we thank him for opening his home to us! We love the Airbnb opportunities and look forward to our next vacation utilizing this option! Sincerely; Lorna and Rupert

  • Sometimes you find a place to stay that hits all the right high notes. I found Paul to be authentic in his interest to provide us a great stay. His cottage was supremely comfortable and had a jaw dropping location. I highly recommend you visiting this great part of the world and with Paul’s roof above your head.

  • Grandma J's is a amazing house with an incredible view. Paul pulled out all of the stops reviving an old Salt Box house to it's newfound glory. It has modern touches within a antique building. Grandma J's is so comfortable with all the amenities you would need. The kitchen is incredible to cook in, the bathrooms have a choice of a great clawfoot bathtub on the 1st floor and a great tiled modern shower upstairs. The beds are so comfortable. The view out all of the windows are amazing and sitting on the porch watching the sunset was a great way to end the day. Paul has great suggestions on local activities and takes so much pride in his house and for good reason. Paul, thank you for a true Newfie experience. Mitch

  • Beautiful space, great communication from host!

    Charis2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • First of all Paul is an amazing host. Prompt, fun, and gives great suggestions of what to check out (really helpful when in a smaller place!) Grandma Js is a slice of heaven. The views are spectacular and the place feels like home - if your home was impeccably decorated, had huge vaulted ceilings, and a clawfoot bath. But it still felt cozy! It was a great spot to do day stuff out of Twillingate - we primarily came for icebergs, nature, and a bit of an escape. We got it all and more - we had people seated next to us a dinner set us up with a fisherman the next day to catch cod! Me and my friend had an absolute BLAST! One night we literally stayed in and did hot yoga with 'Alexa' and the beautiful faux fireplace . A dream!

Our home in Pike's Arm is about 25 minutes from Twillingate and an hour from the ferry to Fogo Island, both popular tourist destinations. View the ocean from the front and back of the house and, depending on your luck, catch sight of a whale and maybe even an iceberg! A beautiful lookout where you see breathtaking views of the surrounding area is only a five minute walk away. Enjoy the scenery, the friendly people, and the comfort of life in the quiet and beauty of our outport location.
PLEASE NOTE: LITTLE PIKE IS LOCATED IN THE COMMUNITY OF PIKES ARM (not in Herring Neck as incorrectly shown on the Airbnb 'Location'). Our home is a renovated two bedroom bungalow with a beautiful modern kitchen. Each bedroom has a queen size bed with a view of the ocean. There is a three piece bathroom and a two piece powder room. All main living spaces have a view of the ocean.
"Little Pike" is an ocean front (and back) home located in Pike's Arm, a small outport community. A tiny collection of homes dots this beautiful outport ocean landscape. If you need a few basics, there is a variety store located in Cobb's Arm about a ten minute drive from Pike's Arm. The town of Twillingate (about twenty minutes away from Pike's Arm) has two grocery stores, a pharmacy, liquor store (The Mercantile), and a post office, as well as offering many sights and attractions. Take a walk through Twillingate and visit the gift shops, craft brewery, museums, art galleries and fish market. Perhaps you'll take a whale watching tour. The restaurants and coffee shops in the area offer a variety of traditional Newfoundland delights. Perhaps you're in town for the Fish, Fun, and Folk Festival. Take in the Dinner Theatre or other musical events in town. It's worth the fifteen minute drive from Twillingate to the town of Crow Head to savour the view at the Lighthouse. Hike one of the many beautiful trails in the area while you're there.

The Pelley House is a fully restored designated heritage home located in Boyd’s Cove. Relax in an authentic Newfoundland merchant dwelling while enjoying a panoramic view of the ocean from a large wrap around deck. Within walking distance to the Beothuk Interpretation Centre. Situated near New World Island, Twillingate, and Fogo Islands. The Pelley House is ideal for people who wish to spend time discovering the Road to the Isles and Iceberg alley, but also want to enjoy a piece of heritage
I invite you to partake in the charm and romance of a merchant heritage home by the ocean. The Pelley house is a fully restored heritage property (over 100 years old) located in a traditional Newfoundland village. This landmark structure is nestled on the north shore of Boyd’s Cove. For more than a century the dwelling has added character and grandeur to the peaceful tranquil community. The home is built of Victorian design, timber construction, double bays with latticed windows, steep gabled peaks with pronounced eaves and a central chimney. The exterior of the house has not been changed since time of construction. In 2011, the Pelley House was designated a Registered Heritage Structure by the Heritage Foundation of Newfoundland and Labrador, due to its aesthetic and historic value. The exterior of the house has been fully restored to original condition. Some restoration work has been completed on the interior without sacrificing any modern comfort. A combination of updates and functional facilities while maintaining an antique décor. There is a large and fully equipped kitchen (microwave, toaster, coffee maker, fridge, freezer, stove and kitchenware), a three piece bathroom with tub and a laundry room with washer and dryer. Free WiFi. A flat-screen TV. Towels & bed linens provided. The house is situated in Boyd’s Cove, the start of the scenic reaches and islands of Notre Dame Bay and the heart of the Kittiwake Coast trail, route 341. It is the site of a major Beothuk encampment and is now the location of the Beothuk Interpretation Centre. It is a great stating location for day tripping to Twillingate, Fogo and Change Islands. This area affords travelers an enchanting and rich mix of culture, history, astonishing ocean views, as well as whale and iceberg sightings.
The Boyd's Cove site lies in eastern Notre Dame Bay on the island of Newfoundland's northeast coast. It is situated at the bottom of a bay and is protected by a maze of islands that shelter it from waves and winds.
  • A beautiful heritage home. Takes you back in time and feel connected to way of life in early 1900's in Newfoundland. Boyd's cove is beautiful. Easy to commute from here to twillingate, fogo . Home is very well kept and communication with Gary was great. Will definitely visit again.

  • Great spot to stay. 1/2 an hour from Twillingate and Fogo island Ferry. Very quiet place and town

  • The Pelley House is a lovely old home with a great deal of personal character. The kitchen and the bathroom have been updated and both were spotlessly clean upon our arrival! There is lots of room to get comfortable and the views from all the upper and lower front windows are fantastic.

    Lynn2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Gary's Peddle House was perfect for our stay. Located in quiet Boyd's Cove, it was ideally located for day trips in the area. The exterior heritage element was stunning. The interior was very comfortable, an interesting mix of vintage and modern style. I particularly enjoyed the beautiful overhang porch- great for morning coffees and evening beverages. We wanted for nothing. Will stay again!

    Amanda2019-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • If your looking for a great place to stay to see the Twillingate area this is not far from anywhere but quite and clean! We really enjoyed it! Thanks so much!

    Lea2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay at the Pelley House. The reconstruction of the wrap around deck during our stay (which we were aware of upon booking) didn't inhibit our visit. The place was spacious, very clean and well stocked! There was a pot large enough to cook a lobster and there were tongs for lobster as well, which we used. On rainy days, (we were fortunate enough to not have any), there are cards and a cribbage board. Having a washer and dryer was helpful as we were there for almost two weeks. There was a detailed manual for the house and a lot of information was provided on sites to see. The caretaker of the house, local to the area was quite helpful early on getting us heat when we needed it and was easily accessible if we needed him, not that we did much. You might have some challenges getting cell phone service at times depending on your provider. This pertains for other parts of the province as well but the solitude of the area is incredible. You are away from the hustle and bustle of Twillingate but are a relatively short drive away from it. In fact, you are within an hour drive or less of a number of great places! Summerford is about 10 minutes away and there is a Foodland there. Approximately 20 minutes away on the way to Twillingate just past Summerford is Hillgrade. There is lobster pool there at a place called Sansome and their seafood restaurant is excellent. The chowder is delicious! The history of the house was a great read. It is a well respected property in the area and the reconstruction and updates already made both to the interior and exterior will ensure it is around for another century. I'm sure future guests will enjoy their stay at the Pelley House as much as we did.

  • Beautiful setting, great location with easy access to Twillingate, Fogo Island ferry and the Trans-Canada highway. Joyce is a great hostess and provides a great breakfast!

  • We had the loveliest stay at Joyce and Harold's, and breakfast was outstanding. Our meal was almost all made from scratch from their own garden! Thank you for the warm welcome and hospitality! If you're coming from Fogo via ferry, text them about your arrival time while still in Fogo since cell reception is poor at Farewell dock.

  • Joyce and Harold are fantastic hosts. They are warm and welcoming. Their beautiful beach home is well located to see the sights. Joyce has added very nice touches throughout the rooms showing her attention to details. Our room was impeccable, very comfortable with a great view of the bay. The ensuite has a wonderful soaker tub and is beautifully decorated ... a nice place to unwind after a day of sightseeing. Joyce's breakfasts are delicious and served at whatever time suits your schedule. We felt right at home and thank Joyce and Harold for being great hosts.

  • Make “Birchy Bay” and Joyce’s home a priority stop on your adventure to Newfoundland!

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with Joyce and Harold. Their beach themed, modern home is centrally located between Twillingate and Lewisporte and a 25 minute drive to the Fogo ferry. We were warmly welcomed at the door and given a coffee and warm conversation after settling in. The ocean view room accomodations were top notch. The ensuite is divine and very romantic featuring a large soaking tub, complete with ocean view and chandelier. Joyce gave us tips on where to eat and things to see while staying there. We enjoyed a recommended lobster supper a short drive from their place and watched a gorgeous sunset, on a beach walk right in front of the house. We caught the ferry the next morning after enjoying the most delicious breakfast. Joyce prepared an omelette, toast with a variety of homemade jams, yogurt and fruit and excellent coffee before our departure. Joyce accomadates vegetarian breakfast requests. If you are staying multiple days, you will enjoy a different breakfast each day. Thank you so much Joyce and Harold for giving us such a pleasant memories from our holiday weekend!❤

  • Nice quaint little cottage off the beaten path. Small community that has all the necessary things can be found close by in Twillingate. The house was an easy check in and not once were we bothered or even ran into other people for that matter! It truly is a secluded little place. There was a wifi repeater to get wifi to the house but it doesn’t really work so the internet kept disconnecting. That was really the only downside to this place. I highly recommend this Airbnb.

The Cottage has a light house on the front lawn .over looking the ocean. Beautiful sunset . Very private and quiet .
  • By good fortune we met our hostess in the driveway as she was making final preparations for our stay, so we were able to chat about the beautiful area, our respective family connections, (so important in Newfoundland), and found fresh home made bread and a fridge stocked with all the niceties for breakfast. The house is kept spotlessly clean, the linens were fresh, even new mattresses. This place is truly a delight, and feels like a cosy cabin on the seaside.

    Celeste2019-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • Great cozy cabin with absolutely everything you could possibly need. Be sure to get check in instructions before you get there as cell service comes and goes.

  • The house is immaculate, the decor very neat, lots of taste, the bedding is very comfortable. I did not get much outside seating due to the coolness in the morning and evening, but in the summer it must be really nice. I finally add that there is nothing missing in the house.

    Françoise2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • Easy check-in, easy driving to Twillingate and many trails, restaurants and scenic spots.

  • Cliff and Lona delivered a real five star night in their impeccably clean home. It was easy to find, easy to park and easy to fall in love with. They greeted us when we arrived offering advice for a quick meal near by. Lona had stashed a few delicious treats around the house....perfect little snack before we retired. Great coffee and baked goods in the morning. Very thoughtful. We’d go back in a heart beat if we’re ever in the area again.

  • A very special place owned by very special people. Great cottage on the water in a place unlike any other I’ve been. Like going back in time. Frances and Dave created a lovely cottage and their restaurant is great too. This place and these people are the real thing.

    Debbie2019-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • A gorgeous modern cottage with a perfect location and a stunning view. A little island with big charm. Amazing hiking trails, peaceful, quiet and tranquil. A local museum is a must see and the locals are always welcoming and friendly. Frances & Dave are super hosts who also operate a restaurant with home cooked style meals that are second to none. Always there at a minutes notice if you need anything and very accommodating. Well worth the travel.

    Medina2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Wow....what an amazing stay we had at David and Frances cottage by the sea!!!! This is a beautifully restored home with an absolutely stunning view of the harbour from the balcony. The cottage is brand new with every imaginable amenity you could want...including an espresso machine, washer and dryer and wifi. The beds were very comfortable and the area is so quiet. Having our morning coffee out on the deck was the highlight. Make sure you also visit their restaurant TLP during your stay as we had the most amazing feed of pan fried cod, chips, dressing and gravy!!!!

    Denise2019-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • In visiting the tourist areas of Twillingate, Lewisporte and Fogo, we were looking for an authentic island stay, without the visitor sales pitches and signs of vacation. We just wanted to be a part of an authentic outport community. Change Islands was the perfect answer. A 25 minute ferry ride later, we were met by Frances and Dave, the most genuine and warm hosts you could ever ask for. If there was a category higher than Superhost, we would give it to them! After a delicious home cooked meal of panfried cod at the restaurant just around the corner from the stay, we were shown a masterpiece of a home, full of exquisite design and architecture features. Every amenity from home was there. The sound of the waves on the shore right outside lulled everyone to sleep. On the balcony with my morning coffee, I was able to capture exceptional photos of the sunrise and the sleepy little outport village waking up, fishing boats heading out soon after the crack of dawn. Thank you, Dave and Frances, for a exceptional and unforgettable stay that recharged the batteries and replenished the spirit. I wish everyone could visit and share the experience we had. They don’t know what they’re missing.

Bright and light filled cottage on the waters edge of Salt Harbour Herring Neck. Water views from every single window. We are 15 minutes from the town of Twillingate. Enjoy all the activities in town then relax on the dock and watch the boats and seagulls in utter peace. Stargazing is spectacular as there is no light pollution. Peaceful, serene and private - this is the spot to relax and refresh your soul.
This is a traditional saltbox home built in 1911. The house was actually floated to this location in 1957 and approx. 300 people helped to raise it to where it now sits. This was a traditional fisherman and family home. The wharf sits over very deep water where the 'Newfie Girl' longliner was moored. Spacious living/kitchen areas with stunning views, fully equiped kitchen, washer/dryer, big screen TV (for those weather days). Completely updated yet retains the old world charm.
The cottage is 15 minutes from Twillingate. Enjoy the many restaurants, boat cruises, kayaking, dinner theater, museums, entertainment. And of course the best hiking around!
  • If you are looking for serenity, then this is the place for you!!

    Reg2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely lovely spacious home located right on the water on a small idyllic classic Newfoundland harbour. Communication was fabulous, amenities were great. Location is about 15-20 easy minutes from the center of Twillingate--easy access without being in the middle of the business hubbub. Lots of great hiking in the area. Great food as well.

    Louise2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful space, great communication from host!

    Charis2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Salt Harbour is wonderful and peaceful. Adeline's home is beautifully decorated, fully stocked and close to everything. I often took walks by the house, there is church nearby with a very old graveyard. You can hike up behind the church and get an amazing 360 of Herring Neck. The house has a dock. My kids (9 & 11) had hours of fun catching Sea Perch and just being outside! Adeline is a great host. She is available whenever you have a question, but gives you the space to enjoy the home. I had forgotten a bag while staying and had moved on to St-John's before realizing. She arranged with someone in Twillingate who was going to St-John's to bring it to me. Doesn't get nicer than that! Twillingate, which is 15 mins away from the house, has great restaurants, fishing sites and awesome hiking trails that are not busy. All in all a wonderful stay and we are eager to get back!

If you are looking for peace, beauty and tranquility then Quarry Cottage may be just the place. Nestled in the little outport of Cobb's Arm (approximately 15 minutes to Twillingate), you can view the ocean and sunset, take a stroll through history or simply relax and enjoy the comfort of outport Newfoundland.
The two bedroom cottage has been recently renovated and it's just a stone's throw from the water. Each bedroom has a double bed with room for one more on the couch. There is a washer/dryer, and the bathroom although tiny, has three pieces. Also included is a BBQ. Guest will have private and full access to the cottage/property. This cozy retreat has all the essential amenities to ensure a warm and welcoming stay.
The outport of Cobb's Arm is a picturesque community that flourished in the 1870's when the “Newfoundland Lime Company” started quarrying limestone for Price's Pulp and Paper mill located in Grand-Falls. The mine was the economic heart of the town, employing hundreds and lasting almost a century. In 1966 new innovation combined with the cost of production took its toll, and the vast commercial activity ended. The quarry faces stand over one hundred feet, and have hiking trails that can take you to their peak. Once you are there you will have a birds eye view of the colourful landscape.

  • This airbnb was spacious and very clean. The host was very friendly and helpful getting us settled in. Although the unit did included a full kitchen, it did not have the utensils/equipment for cooking more complex meals. However the absolute best part was the dock and water play space right on the water. It was great for basking in the sun and watching the sun set over the water. I would definitely recommend this airbnb to anyone who is looking to say in the greater Twillingate region.

They went above and beyond to ensure my experience was excellent. They gave me loads of advice for local activities, cooked me two amazing breakfasts, and were just as friendly as can be. The house is immaculate with every detail carefully considered. My only regret was not staying here longer! Thank you!

We felt like a king and queen the entire time, sleeping in plush clean seaside style bedding ( with ironed pillow slips :) and being serving decadent and delicious breakfasts both morning. • This was a very easy to find place, right on the main road. Although our GPS didn't quite get it at first, Joan was available by phone to direct us. We had a grocery store just up the road and a great hiking trail ( Summerford trail) up to an amazing lookout! Beach side was a good home base to explore the Twilingate area!
