The Linhay has been newly refurbished. It is the ideal location for a peaceful break in the heart of the Exmoor National Park. It has a cosy sitting area with wood burning stove, a well appointed kitchen and a double bed with feather duvet and 100% cotton sheets. The cottage is situated on a working farm, the highest on Exmoor. A host of local activities are just a stones throw away: walking, mountain biking, horse riding, sailing, fishing, shooting and country house tours, to name but a few!
The Linhay was once a 19th century farm building. It is now an annexe to the main house and has recently been refurbished to a high standard.
The Linhay is a 5 minute drive from Simonsbath and 20 minutes from Lynton. Braunton and Saunton Sands are 20 miles away. You will find a Sainsbury’s in South Molton which is a 10 minute drive from the farm.
  • lovely cottage on a beautiful and very remote farm. Would really recommend if you want to get away from it all.

  • We had a great stay here. It was a haven in the middle of the moors, quiet and away from hustle and bustle. Exactly what we had been craving. The cottage had everything we needed, a comfy bed, wood burner and cosy decor for a wet and cold weekend! It was lovely to wake up and see sheep in the courtyard. We liked that slow wifi and limited phone signal allowed us to switch off, snuggle up, read and watch a film. We would definitely recommend this place

  • The cottage is perfect a base to come back after a full day out, it’s very spacious and homely, the bed is lovely, and the bath was ideal. It’s clean and stylish, with thoughtful touches like local biscuits & a helpful guide to the area in the welcome book. We were really pleased that the kitchen is fully stocked and we were able to cook our own food there (as we visited in off season & a rainy day, the local pub was empty!) The area is just stunning, we saw some Exmoor ponies as dusk on our way back to the house, and though we weren’t staying longer - our lovely host said there were some great walks straight from the cottage.

  • Great place so lovely clean. Sweet a die for us which was needed after a day of walking around the moors. Self catered and had everything we needed available for us. Struggled finding in the night as had no signal and just followed the address from the map on Airbnb. My own mistake. Thank you

  • Beautiful annexe with everything you could want. The place was spotless and Shelley and Ed had put a lot of effort into all the little touches which made our stay extra special. Perfect little getaway surrounded by incredible views!

  • This little place is perfect for a total getaway. It’s nestled between trees and and babbling brook which was , when we stayed,a raging torrent after all the winter storms. Despite rather miserable weather we still had a lovely time. The place is cosy and warm, ( especially loved the underfloor heating in the bathroom!! Lots of lovely finishing touches like home made muesli, a fridge full of essentials, Prosecco, Jo Malone lotions and potions.... to name but a few. Oh, and a fabulous record/vinyl collection! The surrounding area is beautiful with rolling hills and wide open beaches nearby! Would highly recommend a stay here to escape the rat race. Thank you

    Sophie2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing location next to the river. Beautiful walks right from the door. We really enjoyed listening to the gramophone by the fire in the evenings. We look forward to coming back!

  • A truly wonderful space and location, with two pubs a short walk away. Better than the pictures show - especially the kitchen, which is open plan to the sitting and dining room area and kitted out to a very high quality. Ample and generous breakfast supplies (including eggs and bacon) for our whole stay, also did us for some lunches and snacks. Very suitable for a winter visit - on arrival and throughout it was warm, with welcoming lights and a bijoux Christmas tree welcoming us, as well as drinks and nibbles. Plenty of hot water, and a proper bath. There is a porch with dog bowls and towels provided, and the outside patio area appeared to be securely fenced. We could hear the river from the bedroom, very relaxing. Evenings were spent listening to the amazing record collection in the very comfortable sitting area. We didn't even get as far as the games and books. I would love to come back at another time of year to be able to sit out for meals, and walk again the route along the river to Watersmeet and up to the Blue Ball inn at Contisbury. Roads in the area are steep - if it's snowy it might be difficult to get the car out very far (we had no problem in frost-free weather with our small city car), but two welcoming pubs are in walking distance.

  • Hazel's place was amazing - I would recommend it to anyone!!! Myself and my partner stayed for 3 nights and had such a nice time. On arrival the bed was made up for us and Hazel had left us some eggs and milk which was such a nice touch. The bed itself was bigger than expected and so comfy - had no issues sleeping! Outside there was a little table and chairs but there was also a small storage container which had camp chairs, a fire pit and some logs. The site itself was lovely, warm showers, clean toilets and such a well-kept field. Will definitely stay again.

    Jess2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • We had the most amazing trip to Hazel’s Shepherds Hut. It is in a beautiful and quiet location, and just a 5-10 minute drive from the coast and shops. Hazel has thought of every little thing you could need and I felt so cosy and at home. I am already planning multiple trips back to this little gem 😊 xxx

    Natalie2019-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Cute shepherds hut. I would recommend to all.

    Joe2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • A great find, situated on a beautiful campsite. The shepherds hut itself was very clean and well equipped with everything you need including a BBQ and also very stylishly decorated. Hazel was a great host who made us feel very welcome, we will definitely be back.

Grooms Cottage is beautifully located at the head of a valley, surrounded by fields and woodland. Situated on the outskirts of Exford, a pretty and unspoilt village right in the centre of the Exmoor National Park. The Cottage is light and bright with a vaulted ceiling in the living area and double bedroom. The Kitchen is well equipped and there is also a drying room and doggy shower!. Outside terrace with barbeque and stunning views. Perfectly located to explore Exmoor.
Whilst no longer a working farm we do have a small flock of Exmoor Horn sheep, ponies, Pygmy goats, Chickens and ducks. Children are welcome to help with the feeding and care of the animals. We are dog friendly (up to 2)
Grooms Cottage is a 20/25 minute walk from Exford, via a bridleway and quiet country lane. The village is to many the heart of Exmoor. There are two good pubs, a post office and village store and a tea room.
  • A great place in a great national park! We'll go back there as soon as possible!

    Barbara2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely clean house, everything we needed for our long weekend. Good location for lots of walks and even ventured to Woolacombe for a walk on the beach (50 minutes in car) which is well worth the drive. Would definitely stay again! The cake on arrival was very much appreciated after our long journey!

    Katie2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place to stay and explore Exmoor, Grooms cottage well set up for a family with useful extras such as high chairs and cots that are available to use which was good for us travelling with a toddler. Would highly recommend Tracey and Simon as hosts 👍🏼 we all had a great week away X

    Lydia2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • If you love walking wildlife and beautiful scenery then this place is made for you. Grooms cottage is a snug holiday home set on the side of the valley with its own outdoor seating area for picnics or the odd glass of vino. We were two couples and two dogs, there was enough space and the doggie drying area with lots of towels and a shower was brilliant once we’d found it. Can’t recommend it highly enough.

    Andy2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed in the cottage for 4 nights and would definitely recommend. The cottage itself is set in beautiful surroundings and was very spacious, clean and had all the amenities needed (oven, microwave, TV etc). Communication was very quick and easy with Simon and Tracy and we received some great tips on the local area. Check-in was very straightforward as well and the cake on arrival was a lovely touch. The cottage is a great place to use as a base for seeing Exmoor (and has a nice walk signposted right from the cottage) and there are lots of great pubs within a 15 minute drive or so. Thank you to Simon and Tracy for letting us use your cottage!

    Rufus2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely time spent at Grooms Cottage in a truly beautiful location. Cottage is ideally located to explore Exmoor and the surrounding area. The Cottage was spotlessly clean and is very well equipped for a young family ...there were some very thoughtful touches by the host also. The local village is close by and we enjoyed a lovely meal in the local pub. My two young girls thoroughly enjoyed feeding and spending time with the animals who live on the farm. Simon and his wife were very kind, thoughtful and accommodating at all times! Highly recommend!

    Sarah2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Had a fantastic time here. Cottage is snug and cosy. The countryside around it is stunning. If you get a chance, take the signposted walk. It's only half an hour or so but you'll be glad you did. Just magical. We've got two argumentative teenagers. We managed to get them to share a room and even separated them from their phones for a whole weekend with barely any argument. Now that is miraculous. It's got to be a pretty special place to manage that.

  • What a wonderful stay we had at Nuttywood Chalet. Helen and David are great hosts, and they've really thought of everything to ensure you have a comfortable stay! It was so helpful to arrive somewhere and to want for nothing. We took advantage of the massages on offer and booked them as extras. We both had a hot stone massage, and were not left disappointed. In terms of the location, it's a lovely peaceful spot and has great access to the coast. We would happily stay there again.

    Leah2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Huge thank you to Helen for making our stay comfortable and relaxing. The Chalet is fantastic and I would have no hesitation in coming back or recommending it to friends/relatives. The weather was a disaster (unless you are one of our 2 Springer Spaniels who love the wind and rain) but it was wonderful to come back to a warm, welcoming chalet. The location is excellent for exploring the very best of North Devon.

    Phill2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic chalet! Lovely and cosy (even better than the photos). Helen was a great host and the extras included were thoughtful! Would highly recommend if you want to explore the area or are seeking a relaxing break! We would definitely visit again.

    Sarah2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Nuttywood Chalet is absolutely lush! the perfect, modest size for two people and nice and cosy for a winter break. Helen was lovely and all the small touches were what made it so special. Highly recommended!

    Rosie2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • An absolute diamond of a stay. The personal touches and the overall decor of the place made us feel instantly at home but also like we were staying somewhere very special. Could not have asked for more. 5 star place, 5 star host.

    Sarah2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • So as all the other reviews have stated... the pictures do not do this place justice! Although they show how snuggly and comfortable it is, I feel it is soo much more! We spent a couple of days walking on exmoor and our last full day snuggling on the sofa during storm Ciara and it was just perfect for that. All the little touches which made it feel soo homely and (as one of the picture on the wall states) a proper love shack. Helen was a lovely host, introducing herself at the beginning and explaining certain things. Then left us to it with the knowledge she was just a text or shout away of needs be. Without a doubt we will be back!!

    Clair2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Another great stay at the chalet! So amazing with such thoughtful touches. It's like a home from home, so cosy and we love the well needed break. Look forward to visiting again:)

  • What a place! The highlight was the most stunning walks right on the doorstep... the first day we saw 19 deer on a walk along the river about a mile along. The cottage was perfect, clean and much bigger than expected, it was warm and perfect for our stay, will definitely be back!

The Potting Shed is a romantic retreat in a secluded location, at the foot of a beautiful sub-tropical garden and taking in 160 degree view out to sea. The property is entirely private and perfect for couples looking for a somewhere to spend a few days and ‘get away from it all’.
The Potting Shed is a cabin comprised of one large open-plan living area, the kitchen at one end, comfortable L-shaped sofa and small dining table in the middle and king-sized double bed at the far end. There is a small bathroom, with a shower unit, hand basin and toilet. The large bi-fold doors open onto the patio area in front of the property, with stunning sea views. There is also a large lawned area solely for guests’ use. The property is accessed via a garden path from the off-road parking area. The path is about 100m long and follows a decline along the edge of the exotic garden - please note that for those who struggle with mobility this property may not be the most suitable choice. Parts of the path a step so we wouldn't recommend to elderly guests. The owner lives in the house in the same grounds, but The Potting Shed parking area and garden is totally separate. The Potting Shed is compact but fitted with full-size appliances, such as fridge/freezer, electric oven and hob, microwave and slimline dishwasher. Other equipment includes toaster, kettle, a variety of kitchen utensils, cutlery, crockery and glasses. A smart television is mounted on the wall by the sofa. The TV offers catch-up television via iPlayer and Chromecast, and Netflix is also available which offers a variety of films and TV programmes (the internet is not usually strong/fast enough in Porlock Weir to watch live TV, but catch up and on-demand TV is available). There is also an ipod docking station with DAB radio and wifi. A hairdryer is also provided for your convenience. Electricity and heating costs are included in the price of your accommodation. The Potting Shed has underfloor heating which is controlled by a thermostat and can be adjusted to suit your preferences. Bed linen, duvets, blankets and towels are provided for your convenience, but please bring your own beach towels if you wish to take towels with you on day trips. Please note the kitchen taps have hot water supplied from the under counter heater but the bathroom tap doesn't have hot water. A small amount of tea, coffee, sugar, milk and biscuits are provided to ensure you can have a hot drink as soon as you arrive. There may also be other non-perishable items like a salt, pepper and a few herbs or spices available. Cleaning materials such as washing up liquid, dishwasher powder, and surface cleaner will be present in the property. One or two toilet rolls will be provided. Directly in front of the property is the patio area, a perfect spot for dining al fresco and listening to the sea lapping the shore below. There is also a lawn below the patio, available for your sole use. Secure off-road parking for one car is available in the grounds of the garden. A garden path leads from the parking area to The Potting Shed (approx 100 metres). One dog is welcome by prior arrangement. A supplementary fee of £15 will be added to your invoice. Please do not allow your dog on the furniture and do not leave them alone in the property at any time. The Potting Shed is strictly non-smoking. The property will be ready from 2 pm on the day of your arrival. Please depart by 10 am on the last day of your stay. Please leave the property clean and tidy so that we can guarantee it will be ready on time for our next guests.
Exmoor is situated in South West Britain, specifically across West Somerset and North Devon. Often referred to as England's best kept secret, Exmoor is a wonderful holiday destination for anyone looking for a holiday in the great outdoors! There's so much to see and do, from short walks to long expeditions across the moors or horse riding, taking in a safari or sight-seeing at your own pace around the 'picture postcard' villages and hamlets. Porlock Weir has a quaint little harbour and its own unique charm; the port has a long and colourful history. Today Porlock Weir is a quiet harbour and a thriving community that welcomes tourists every year, many of whom come to enjoy the pretty scenery, shops, tea rooms, pubs and local cuisine. On a fine day, the South West Coast Path offers a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the fabulous views across Porlock Weir and the bay. The coastal footpath links up with many other walking trails including Culbone, home to the smallest church in England. One of the more unusual attractions at Porlock Weir is the submerged forest. At low tide, the remains of ancient tree trunks arise from the grey clay soil. These desiccated stumps are the last remaining evidence of a forest that, once upon a time, lay five miles inland. Local amenities The harbour is the 'centre' of Porlock Weir, which is less than 1/4 mile away. There are two restaurants (The Cafe and Miller's at the Anchor), a pub (all three are dog-friendly) and a range of individual shops such as tea rooms, Exmoor Glass, etc. The village of Porlock is approximately 1.5 miles and boasts three pubs, two grocery shops, a traditional local butcher, chemist, cash machine, petrol station, hardware shop, visitor centre and a range of independent restaurants, shops and tea rooms. Many of the shops in Porlock Weir and Porlock are open during traditional hours of 9 am to 5 pm, although hours are often extended during the summer season. Conversely, some shops also reduce their opening hours out of season. Minehead is the nearest town, approximately 7 miles from The Coach House. Here you will find the larger supermarkets and petrol stations (Tesco and Morrison's are both situated on the outskirts of the town and have longer opening hours), most major high street banks with cash machines, plus a range of other shops throughout the town.
  • A lovely place tucked away with a sea view. Warm and cosy and very private. A beautiful place to stay and we will be back!

The Two Moors Way passes the gate and, for the energetic, numerous other walks are accessible directly from the cottage. A host of other country pursuits within easy reach include watersports, fishing, pony trekking, shooting, bird watching and mountain biking. The owners are very keen on the environment and help to manage the SSSI area of marsh and woodlands in their grounds with the help of Exmoor National Park. The marsh land next to the river, which has not been cultivated for hundreds of years, makes an ideal spot for many rare plants and wildlife, especially the Heath Fritillary, one of the rarest butterflies in this country. The SSSI extends off into the woodlands and the owners are sympathetically managing this to promote its flora and fauna, with rare lichens on some of the older trees and fallen trunks providing great homes for all sorts of creatures. Smiddy Cottage is an ideal base to explore the North Devon coast and its picturesque villages including Porlock, Lynton and Lynmouth. Dulverton, considered to be the southern gateway to Exmoor, is 10 minutes’ drive away. This pretty town is well stocked with quality boutiques, grocery shops, inns and restaurants as well as the Exmoor National Park visitor centre. West Hollowcombe Farm is a fabulous holiday destination for anyone who enjoys outdoor activities, dramatic landscapes and wildlife.

  • Perfect location for walking and exploring area. Easy to get to the moors and coast. We didn't need to use the car as there was enough to do within walking distance which was great. The cottage is comfortable an cosy with everything we needed. Peter and Irene are friendly, laid back and helpful. We felt looked after and relaxed. Although there are other families on the farm you still have enough privacy. We would like to return again one day.

  • Lovely thoughtful hosts, beautiful clean comfortable cottage in a great location. It was so nice to get away from the noise of traffic and see so many stars at night! Amenities are great, everything in good working order. Would certainly recommend.

  • Lovely warm and cosy cottage.

    Hristo2019-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Great little cottage. Awesome communications. The hosts had put fresh flowers, lit the log burner and provided a homemade Devon Cream tea on the table before we arrived. The cottage is great, loads of outside space, beautiful views and our kids played football with some of the other children staying in the other cottages. The cottage is lovely, more rustic than super sophisticated but that is exactly what you want on Exmoor. Would definitely recommend.

Barbrook's Victorian chapel & school flourished for many years, but when we came to live here in 1998 the building needed careful repair and a new use. We fell in love with this place and project, slowly converting it into a large, comfy, and hospitable home for our family and friends to enjoy. Now we'd like to share our enjoyment of our special home with you. Choose from 2 rooms (see also Camilla's Room @ Chapel Hill) for a great base - and breakfast! - while you explore Exmoor by the sea.
Annie's Room is on the top floor, with two windows offering great light and views. The bed is a 5ft double. There is a washbasin closet in the room, but the large bathroom/walk-in-shower/WC is separate and shared with guests in our other letting room (see Camilla's Room @ Chapel Hill). We provide chunky towelling dressing gowns if you need them. A tea/coffee-making kit is provided in your room, and there are plenty of power sockets, including a USB charging socket. Items like hairdrier and iron are available on request, and we can also help you with washing or drying small items of laundry, drying and storing coats and boots, etc.
Barbrook is a small village close to Lynton & Lynmouth, but it's also a strong community hub in its own right, with great connections up onto the open moor and by road to neighbouring towns (Barnstaple, Ilfracombe, Minehead) and villages (Parracombe, Brendon, Simonsbath). It's also very close to the sea. Just down the road in the heart of the village opposite the church you'll find Barbrook Filling Station, with friendly staff and a very well-stocked shop, and on the small green there's also the postbox, bus stop, and our famous community-run public wc plus Exmoor National Park information room. This is a great area for walking and cycling, with footpaths leading in all directions. The National Trust Barbrook estate is immediately across the road from us, where you can walk beside the river and over Summerhouse Hill all the way to the sea at Lynmouth.

  • The cabin was the perfect place to relax and unwind after a hectic few weeks. Very secluded and peaceful, clean and homely, this was the perfect place for an escape. The hot tub was a great addition, and we loved watching the lambs in the field behind in the morning. Lots of local tips and ample countryside to explore- it’s the perfect place for a cosy hideaway break in the countryside. Thank you Jenny!

    Ellie2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • Such a wonderful location, as a couple with children and owing our own business we run a busy hectic lifestyle, getting away to the most secluded area with all you need and a bubbling hot tub overlooking miles of unspoilt countryside ticked every box! Didn’t hear any other modes of transport or human beings other than the bleating lambs in the fields behind! Tranquil is an understatement!! A well equipped pod, boiling hot water, pots, pans, plates, thoughtful touches of homemade biscuits, tea, coffee and a pint of milk in the fridge gets you off to the start you need! Would we go back??? Undoubtedly yes!! If you’re after some peace and quiet away from it all then Jenny’s place ticks every box and some!!

    Brett2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place, ideally located to explore Exmoor national park. We did a couple of walks around the south coast path which wasn’t more than a 30minute drive away and ending a long walk with a rest in the hot tub was the best! Would definitely recommend 😊

    Ryan2020-02-23T00:00:00Z

  • A stunning location and fabulous accommodation. Far exceeded expectation. Amazing attention to detail and exceptional cabin. Will be back very soon. Thank you

    Julie2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Three Moors View, set in a beautiful location with incredible views out across the Devon countryside. The cabin itself is stunning - never stayed anywhere quite like it, so cosy and peaceful, was just what we were looking for. The hot tub was a massive plus for us, definitely helped with the aching muscles after a day exploring the surrounding area. We ate at The Poltimore Inn one evening, great food and a lovely local atmosphere - 5 minute drive away in North Molton. Jenny was a great host and really easy to contact throughout. We will definitely be visiting this little gem again soon.

  • This is a very clean, comfy, cosy cottage tucked into the valley with blue tits visiting for breakfast. We found it a perfect place to recharge - the time seemed to stretch out and we have all gone home feeling as if we have had a proper break.

  • We had a fantastic stay at Peacock Cottage, unfortunately it rained solidly for the whole weekend but thankfully the cottage was cosy enough to stay in and play games. The pub opposite was great for us as we couldn’t really go out. All of the amenities we lovely and enjoyed cooking on the AGA. Would definitely stay again. The kids loved it too! Thanks Carol.

    Emily2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • We (2 adults, 2 children + 1 dog) had a really nice stay at Peacock Cottage. We wanted somewhere different, away from the hustle and bustle of the everyday and this location certainly provided that. The sound of the rush of the river outside is a lovely backdrop and the path directly from the front gate means that delightful walks are on your doorstep. The cottage is very dog friendly with the enclosed front garden and stone floors - especially good given the muddiness of the walks at this time of year. Although we couldn't really take advantage of sitting out either in the front garden or on the balcony at the time of year we visited, we envisaged in warmer months that this would be a lovely spot to do so. The cottage provided an ideal cosy winter retreat with the warmth of the aga very welcoming when we arrived. The bathroom downstairs is very attractively designed and definitely a feature of the property that perhaps the pictures do not do full justice to. It is worth heeding the note about the stairs up to the bedrooms - they are indeed steep and require care when using them. We walked both ways from the cottage along the river to Brendon and down to Watersmeet and would have gone further had there been more light - I'm sure that the full walk down to Lynmouth at a lighter time of year would be great. Many other attractions are within an easy drive. We spent an evening in the Rockford Inn opposite the property just over the river and were made to feel very welcome - including the dog. Thank you to Carol & Dave - we would definitely recommend this property for a relaxing escape for couples or families.

  • Peacock cottage is perfect for a rural get away. Set right on the river with flowing waterfalls. Not far from Lynton and Watersmeet in the car or can walk along the footpath. Peacock cottage is lovely and cozy has a log burner. A traditional cottage style kitchen with an aga oven. We got used to this and cooked a nice Sunday roast from it. Upstairs has very comfy beds all with balcony views of the river. Stairs are quite steep for young children but stair gates are provided so all fine. Bathroom downstairs and shower is really nice. Outside space is perfect for dogs all patioed and enclosed. There are 2 pubs close by- the Rockford inn and stag hunters, we went to stag hunters about 3/4 mile walk from cottage- really nice bunch of people in here and welcoming. Also dog friendly. The Rockford inn opposite the cottage was closed so didn’t experience this one. All in all we had a great time and would definitely come back. A really nice touch on arrival was a Christmas card and biscuits from Carol With was lovely.

  • Peacock Cottage is located next to a stunning river on a country trail. If you are looking to get away from the madness of a city like me and my friends were, then this place is the answer. Within 15 mins of driving you can go on costal walks or up into the moors. There is plenty to explore and I would highly recommend!

    Ben2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing little cottage. As described, set in a stunning location with very easy access to Lynton and the surrounding areas. Only advice... Not the easiest to find in the dark so I would recommend arriving in daylight, otherwise A+

    Christopher2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Peacock cottage is delightful. We’ve just spent the most wonderful weekend in this cosy cottage right next to the river and wish we could have stayed longer. The location is stunning with the river right outside and walks straight from the house. Little touches and attention to detail make this cottage really welcoming, comfortable and extremely cosy. It was beautifully clean, the beds were incredibly comfortable and our dog was made to feel welcome too with the provision of dog beds and bowls. The owners had thought of everything and the house was so well equipped. I would love to return again very soon! Thank you Carol.

Jacky and Tigger both great hosts, easy to communicate with and Tigger gave us a detailed orientation for how everything worked. We had an electric car and charging was provided at 10 mi/hr which was plenty to have a good overnight charge. We’d definitely stay again

  • We had a great stay in the cabin. Jacky and Tigger were really friendly and helpful. The cabin is equipped with everything you could possibly need and made for a cosy stay in the bad weather!

    Alex2019-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful cabin in the most stunning location. Despite being in the hosts back garden, the cabin is situated in a position which makes it feel like you are out in the middle of nowhere and are secluded from the hustle and bustle of every day life. There is quite a busy road that runs past the cabin which is quite noisy so would advise earplugs or light backgtound music if you are a light sleeper. Jacky and Tigger were outstanding hosts, very friendly and accommodating. They explained how everything worked in detail which was most helpful. There is a folder in the cabin that Jacky and Tigger have put together for their guests which gives you information about local places of interest, things to do, places to eat etc. The location is quite remote, lots of narrow country lanes as well as some main roads. You could walk to the Poltimore Inn but it would take approximately 30-45 mins to get there or 10-15 minutes in the car. Would highly recommend this pub for food and level of service it is fabulous. Would recommend the Wildfire Cabin to couples, small (3/4) to medium(5/6) families as the cabin is very spacious. There is one large bed but plenty of floor space for blow up beds or sleeping bags.

  • A lovely cosy cottage in close walking distance to a very good pub and some lovely coastal walking paths. The place is perfect for a couple and has lovely under floor heating which makes coming home after a long autumn walk so much nicer!

    Mike2019-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • Wow. What a find! We absolutely loved our stay and will definitely be returning to the Stables. I really enjoyed drinking my morning tea in bed watching the sea out the bedroom balcony doors! It was incredibly relaxing. The pub, cafe and beach are just a short walk down the hill (and all great). The coastal path runs along the beach at the bottom of the hill too and we walked in both directions which were really different to each other. We loved it! A lovely autumn coastal break and the Stables was perfect. We've already been recommending this place to friends and we will be coming back!

Lynton is an attractive village and is linked by a water-powered cliff-railway down to sea-level Lynmouth. Both villages have an abundance of quirky shops, art galleries and eateries. A trip to the Valley of the Rocks offers some dramatic scenery and walkers with love the stroll along the river to Watersmeet, where you can rest at the café and go for a paddle. For stretches of soft golden sands, Woolacombe is nearby and just perfect for a day building sandcastles, surfing or just relaxing and catching some sun. For the more active it has great surfing opportunities (for beginners through to the more experiences) and for the really adventurous there are parascending opportunities too. The Victorian town of Ilfracombe has a pretty harbour area where you can hop on a ferry to the wildlife haven of Lundy Island or take a trip to the historic market town of Barnstaple for the Pannier Market which sells some wonderful local produce.
  • My husband and and two kids (12 and 4) had such a great holiday based at Florries! Excellent value, rapid communication with lots of tips and helpful suggestions, accommodated last minute changes for us and literally the best stocked Airbnb we’ve ever stayed in. So many thoughtful bits and bobs left for us to help our stay. Beyond the welcome basket too (which was lovely and very well received!); we forgot toothpaste and so to find a little tube for us was amazing! Lovely and comfortable and ideally placed for a wonderful riverside walk in to Lynton. Super warm thanks to an abundance of storage heaters, upright plug in radiators and a lovely wood burner. We had some terribly bad weather during our stay but the cottage was cosy and warm. Would 100% stay again.

  • Steep steps from car parking Space however the cottage is very comfortable in a very nice village handy shop in garage .

  • Florries is a stylish and cosy cottage. Comfy beds and duvets, a thoughtfully equipped kitchen, and evening sun made it for me. It makes a great base for exploring the coast and Exmoor. Gill & Peter respond really quickly to any questions and left some really welcome supplies in the kitchen for weary M5 travellers! The Reads, Cambridge

  • Florries is ideally placed for exploring the local area. Florries itself, is quirky, clean and has everything and more that you would expect or need for your stay. We loved the local Thai restaurant which is within walking distance.

  • This is a great place to stay in Exford. If you enjoy clam surrounds, clean air and the sounds of nature around then you won't be disappointed. Just 10min walk to the village with some lovely walks on the doorstep. Gilly and James were friendly and discrete and the annex was lovely and warm and well equipped.

    Rob2019-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • My third visit to this quiet and comfortable annexe. It's a real haven, with good space, excellent heating (including a wood burner if need be) and a proper kitchen. A real rural retreat, with a woodland outlook, the River Exe close by and as much privacy as you want.

    Christine2019-11-27T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely snug bolt hole in a great spot by the river along a quiet lane, but only walking distance from the village. We were so well looked after by Gilly and James, and found the Annexe a great place to escape to for a quiet weekend - pubs, countryside walks and the cosy wood burner tick all our boxes! Enjoy!

    Ben2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely, warm, secluded spot. It’s still close enough to get out and about and visit some of the lovely places nearby or to simply lose yourself in a long walk on t’moors, working up a thirst and appetite. We will be back, for sure. Gilly and James were lovely and helpful with tips of things to do whilst we were there too.

    Anthony2019-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • Stunning location, with amazing local walks. The local pubs serve fabulous food, and have a great selection of ales. The cottage is just as listed, and the log burning pumps out some serious heat! Great for rainy winter days! Thanks for a great stay! Jem and Will

  • Really lovely escape at Nigel and Annie's shepherds hut. Lovely personal touches on arrival, warm and cosy with the coal fire burning. No wifi or signal, but a radio, playing cards and a few books. Perfectly peaceful weekend. Fantastic hosts and spotlessly clean. Close to Lynton and Lynmouth and other areas of attraction, in beautiful green countryside! Definitely recommend.

    Paige2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • What a great guy Nigel is couldn’t have been more friendly and accommodating. His wife’s homemade delicious flapjack and biscuits were such a heartwarming touch and wine! The hut is fantastic absolutely immersed in picturesque Exmoor scenery you can hear the river. The bathroom was highly equipped and everywhere was sparkling clean. Wish we had stayed more than one night!!! We’ll be back for sure!! Highly highly recommend. For walkers you can walk directly from the hut to watersmeet and beyond to the coast at lynmouth or further upstream, great links. Excellent little kitchen too with an induction hob for cooking up a treat in the hut.

  • We really enjoyed our stay at Nigel! We were greeted very nicely and even equipped with home-baked cookies and wine. The hut is very warm due to the coal heating and keeps this heat through the good insulation even in October overnight. The bathroom is located in the opposite barn and is new and very well furnished. The hosts have given us some tips for things to do before leaving and were altogether very cordial. For us the Shepherd's Hut was a very good experience and we would come back anytime!

You will love our luxurious newly converted barn with its woodburning stove and sauna. It is adjacent to our farmhouse so help is on hand with advice on the local area; we run guided walks and can provide breakfast and farmhouse suppers on request. Although we are in a secluded valley, it is just a short walk along the riverbank to the village stores, two recommended pubs and a tearoom, so no worries about whose turn it is to drive! We also provide mountain bikes and a map to explore the area.
Spindrift barn was converted in 2017 from stabling with a threshing floor above. We have retained the traditional character with the original oak beams and the stairs were created using timber from an old wharf and jetty, hence the nautical references in the name and decor. The barn is completely self contained and is a lovely, welcoming space to come back to after a busy day exploring this wonderful area. Large french windows on two floors give easy access to your own herb garden in the summer. There is a drying area on the mezannine for wet coats and walking boots and the large woodburner lights in seconds. Underfloor heating throughout the ground floor keeps you toasty in the winter.
The barn is perfectly situated, quiet and peaceful with no passing traffic, just the sound of the river and our resident tawny owls to lull you to sleep at night. However, you are only a short stroll from the two pubs, village shops and tea room situated in Exford village, and totally spoilt for choice for walks from the front door.
  • Jennie, Malcolm, Thanks you so much. We really enjoyed our time in Exford. A stunning place to visit despite the inclement weather... We hope to be back before too long. Until next time. Phil And Tasha.

  • We had a pleasant 2 night stay, 2 adults and 4 children. The caravan is fairly old but very well equipped with whatever you need including loads of dvds and some games and toys. The kids loved the chickens and the super friendly dogs, and we were treated to some eggs and scones, cream and jam, a lovely thought. I slept on the pull out bed in the living room which was lovely and comfortable.

    Louise2018-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great couple of nights stay. Jess was there to meet us upon arrival and everything was very laid back! The caravan was clean and tidy with fresh linen on all the beds and plenty of towels! There were some fresh scones, clotted cream and jam left for us, which was very thoughtful! Challacombe was ideally placed for us to get to the local beaches and we headed down to Woolacombe most days but also into Lynton and Lynmouth! The caravan was just perfect for coming back to in the evening. It was clean and fresh, enabled us all to get refreshed and changed before heading out for a meal and the Black Venus Inn just a few minutes walk down the road was excellent too! The kids thoroughly enjoyed feeding the chickens and turkeys as well as seeing all the dogs and the puppy! I would be happy to recommend it to anyone!

    John2018-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Jess' place was very good value in a central location in North devon and is either 20-30 minutes from most major places you'd want to visit. The location is remote with not too many shops so make sure you stock up. There is no mobile signal but the accommodation has good internet so this wasn't an issue for us. We had cream teas and cakes on arrival with great communication and check in from Jess, our children loved feeding the animals and stroking their beautiful dogs! We would come again.

    Michael2018-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at the Bluebird! We were very comfortable and it was a great location for touring around Exmoor and the coast. Jess was very friendly and helpful - we appreciated the cream tea on arrival and her fresh farm eggs! Just be aware that although the home has WiFi, the signal is weak and intermittent but this in not a problem as you can use the free WiFi in the pub, which is a short walk away.

    Sandra2018-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place, simple, clean, and the bedding was fresh and crisp. Beautiful setting in the middle of nowhere. Jess is a fab host, she guided us in late at night when we couldn't find it in the dark. She also made the effort at night to come and tell us we could stay past the check out time the next day. Scones and cream there on arrival. If we're in the area would definately stay again.

    Salima2018-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful location! There were seven of us in the static, but we all managed to fit. The kids had fun exploring and feeding the chickens and turkeys. We enjoyed cooking over the fire. Lots of scenic places within a short drive - we went to Sandy Cove, the Tarr Steps, and the Valley of rocks. For rainy days, there is a vast DVD collection to choose from in the caravan - amazing.

It would be difficult to find a more secluded location where you can forget the hassle and stress of everyday life and just relax and unwind in the peace and tranquillity of Exmoor. The gypsy caravan is a modern take on an old theme with stunning views and up to date facilities including central heating electrics Full cooking facilities Fridge-freezer etc, If you prefer to dine out why not try some of the excellent local eating houses in the area.
A welcome hamper with local produce will be included for guests who stay for two nights or more. One night stays will have tea & coffee making facilities provided (a hamper can be provided at an extra cost if required ) all our guests will have Fresh linen and towels supplied. (Please note one night stays are available from beginning of September only)
We are in the heart of the exmoor national park and wildlife is in abundance, stunning scenery ideal for hiking, biking , riding ( bring your with you horses as stables and paddocks are available) well behaved dogs are welcome and most of our local pubs , tea rooms and restaurants are dog friendly . Exmoor is also a dark sky area and on clear nights the views are stunning we are also very lucky down here on Exmoor to have one of the best herds of wild red deer in the county and during late September and october they have their annual rut, it is an incredibley eerie sound to hear the Stags’s roaring ( known locally as balving) up and down the barle valley, and on still clear nights they can be clearly heard and seen from the gypsy caravan.
  • A lovely stay in a truly picturesque spot. The hosts couldn’t have been friendlier or more accommodating. We loved our stay here and would recommend it to all.

  • We had such a nice weekend. The views from this place are really amazing, in a brilliant secluded location where we had no phone signal or WiFi which was great and exactly what we wanted. The gypsy caravan was really comfortable and had everything we needed. There are fantastic hikes direct from the farm, we did part of the Two Moors Way. Really friendly hosts and a delicious breakfast basket. The weather was absolutely chucking it down with rain but regardless we still had a brilliant time and wish we could have stayed for longer! Probably one of our favourite air bnb’s :)

  • Highly recommended. It’s hard to really get away from crowds and cars, but this is the place. We’d love to return in the summer with lots of books.

  • Wonderful weekend, the gypsy caravan, shepherds hut & space were fabulous, lovely comfy bed & real peace & tranquility, highly recommended!

  • Amazing location and very friendly hosts. The hut was just what we needed for a relaxing getaway, we highly recommend!!!

  • Great place. Definitely remote which is exactly what we wanted and it was such an amazing space with absolutely stunning views. Loads of walks nearby and great tips on fabulous places to eat from the owner. The Black Venus pub we were recommended was perfect and the food was outstanding. The bathroom is immaculately finished to a high standard and the bow top was so much bigger than I imagined. Unfortunately it was pouring with rain and blowing a gale which meant we could not make the most of the area but would return again in a heartbeat when the sun is shining. There was no WiFi or phone signal which was great as we wanted to get away from it all but could be a problem if you cannot “unplug” for too long!

  • My Partner and I stayed in 2 other air B&Bs on our holiday and I can say confidently this is gem perfect for a couples getaway. Although we didn't bring any pets it seems the place would be good for horses and dogs too which is rare. I thoroughly recommend this place!

  • Thank you so much! This was our first time using air b&b and she has set the bar high. I loved all the little touches with all the things she supplied. As a mum of two little ones it was perfect because I was bound to forget something or run out of something but it didn’t matter because she thought of everything possible! The location was more amazing than expected, the first day we took a little walk around the trails just to the side of the house with only my youngest in a baby carrier and my two year old walked and it was very easy. The back garden was surrounded by gates which gave me a lot of ease as my two little ones are very fast so it’s easy for one to slip away when you are distracted. About a 30 min drive from beach/shops lovely little pubs around. We also arrived very late there was not any lights but it was still easy to find. Honestly it was lovely I did try to extend my stay that’s how great it was but it was booked.

An Idyllic Exmoor Location. Barham Cottage is situated within the Exmoor National Park in a wooded combe, by the Barbrook stream. Two miles from the public highway, you will drive on a private road through farmland and into a secluded valley and when you can't go any further you have reached Barham! You will discover a restored stone shepherds' cottage in one and half acres of gardens and paddock . It's spacious; three en-suite bedrooms, two lounges with wood fires , kitchen and dining room.
Barham Cottage can accomodate 6 guests in three en-suite bedrooms with a further family bathroom, large modern kitchen, dining room and two lounges each with a wood burning stove. The original stone cottage dates back over two hundred years and was a home for local shepherds. It has more recently been extended and renovated to offer modern comfort whilst still retaining it's unique character. On the ground floor is the family bathroom and laundry, fully equiped modern kitchen, beamed lounge with a woodburning stove leading through to the conservatory which overlooks the garden and stream. You will also find the twin bedroom and the second sitting room too, with it's own woodburner. A small flight of stairs leads to a landing where, left and right, are the two first floor en-suite bedrooms. Please note that, due to the constrictions of the orginal structure, the bedrooms are quite small and the bathrooms seem large in comparison, but they both have king sized beds and they are very comfortable! Outside are the formal gardens, plenty of off road parking and outbuildings which include a car port. The Barbrook stream runs along the whole of Southern boundary. We also have a yard with three stables and turnout which can be rented - please discuss details with Sarah.
Barham Cottage seems miles of the beaten track when you need some peace and quiet but at the same time you are in the right place for trips to Lynton, Lynmouth, Ilfracombe, the beaches at Woolacombe and Croyde and the whole of Exmoor.

  • Absolutely lovely. Highly recommended. Great hosts 😊

    Elizabeth2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time staying at Bridge Cottage. The location is amazing, perfectly positioned to explore Exmoor with its charming villages and stunning countryside. The cottage itself is very comfortable and cosy, and had everything we (a family of 4, with young children) needed. The kids loved paddling in the river, which is accessed directly from the garden. Tony was a fantastic host, and was on hand for anything we needed.

    Simon2019-04-20T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was great! It was like living in a Jane Austen's novel. The cottage is amazing and Tony has been a great host. In his local shop you can find anything you need to buy for a quite week far from the hustle of the cities. The Exmoor National Park around is very nice, it's an escape from the modern life. When you wake up in the morning, you open the window and see the bridge, the hill in front, the river... And when you go to bed, you can still hear the voice of the river... all this is absolutely priceless!

We enjoyed the private space outside to read and sit by the fire pit in the evenings. The hut is conviniently located on the campsite: close to the entrance of the campsite and the toilet/shower house. Hazel and Carol are very friendly. We would definitely stay here again!

Choose from 2 rooms (see also Annie's Room @ Chapel Hill) for a great base - and breakfast! - while you explore Exmoor by the sea.
Camilla's Room is on the top floor, with two windows offering great light and woodland views. The bed is a 6ft double, which can be separated to make two 3ft singles - just let us know what you prefer. This room is also available as a single room. There is a washbasin in the room, but the large bathroom/walk-in-shower/WC is separate and shared with guests in our other letting room (see Annie's Room @ Chapel Hill).

Breakfast was generous and delicious and it was so nice that Carolynn and Roland took time out to chat to us. We will return and will recommend them to all our friends too!

  • A very warm welcome in a wonderful home. Perfect location for Exmoor and the north Devon coast.

    David2019-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • A quirky building - not what I judged it to be originally - but it exceeded my expectations. A very large metal Crocodile on the veranda to meet you - a good icon to tell you which house it is. It is an old converted Chapel and has been done so well. It is surrounded by woods to the rear and sides and has rolling trees wherever you look. There is a gate opposite the house which takes you down into the woods with a pathway running alongside the fast running stream. If you love nature - you will love it there.

Jasper Cottage is a perfect base for exploring Exmoor, with easy access to its superb footpaths, bridleways and dramatic scenery. Or simply relax amongst magnificent views and wildlife and enjoy the absolute peace and quiet! A wide variety of moorland birds and mammals such as hares and rabbits, stoats and weasels, to say nothing of red deer, are regular visitors. Additionally Exmoor ponies are often to be seen grazing on adjoining common land. Jasper is an ideal base to explore the North Devon coast and its picturesque villages including Porlock, Lynton and Lynmouth.
  • Gorgeous views and countryside, welcoming log fire and treats. This home is so quiet and in such a beautiful setting you can’t help but relax. There are also good restaurants only a short drive away.

  • This getaway was booked very last minute and there were issues with the pricing that air bnb had offered, but Staycation is someone who isn't involved with the day-to-day running of this particular accommodation. The actual hosts, Peter and Irene are absolutely lovely and will do anything they can to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The little added extras are a nice little touch such as the scones and the offer to use spare wellies. They have 60 acres of ground that surround this cottage, where you are able to explore and take yourselves on long walks. The cottage itself was lovely and clean and the log burner was put on before we arrived.. would highly recommend and will be on our places to stay if we come back to South West England.

Sunny Lyn is situated within Exmoor National Park and only a 10 minute picturesque walk to Lynton town centre. From here, you can either walk or use the famous Victorian Cliff Railway to get down to Lynmouth Harbour, beach and town. There are numerous walks starting from the Park, including the Valley of the Rock and Watersmeet walk. Julia Bradbury included the Watersmeet walk in her ITV programme 'Britains Best Walks' which aired in February 2017. The local landscape is amazing and there are various coves to enjoy which are within a few minutes drive. We'll let you into a few secrets spots on arrival. The larger & more popular beaches in Croyde & Woolacombe are only 20 miles away.
  • The caravan is sited in a wonderful location and we had a fantastic holiday here. The caravan is a bit dated but very cosy. It is priced accordingly and I think the owners should be commended for offering an affordable holiday in such a beautiful place. The olde cottage inn was very welcoming. Our dog was made to feel very welcome in all establishments around Lynton and Lynmouth. We loved walking around Exmoor for which the caravan is a perfect base.

  • Great base to explore Exmoor, Mike our host was really helpful and friendly and the barn tastefully converted and peacefully located. Great to be able to see the Milky Way and shooting stars from the balcony - perfect for dark sky lovers.

  • Very nice barn, upside down layout with one double bedroom and one room with bunk beds downstairs. The upstairs is all open plan leading out to a deck with seats and a BBQ and a garden. Very pet friendly with bowls left for our dog which was great. Well equipped kichen for cooking meals and Michael was in touch about everything despite being away at the time of our visit, overall it was a lovely stay in rural Devon!
