  • A taste of Gaeltacht life with comfort, convenience, and proximity to great beaches and walking. This house is situated at the end of a lane, near the village of Carna. Being the last house, the views from nearly all directions are stunning looking out across the lakes and mountains of Connemara. A short walk towards Carna, and you have your choice of a few pubs, in this remote and quaint setting. The beaches of Mweenish and the surrounding area are great for a dip (even for my dog), or just a lovely sunset stroll during the long stretch of the summer. If you need to get away from the rush of the city, or just want a place to plant yourself for a good exploration of the area, look no further. Check in and communication were great, and the house was spotless. Oh, and if you want to practice your Irish, or just hear it spoken well, you're in the Gaeltacht. Lovely people, and very welcoming.

Stay in the heart of Connemara, on the Wild Atlantic Way. Beautiful unspoilt beaches within a few minutes walk from our house. With its breath taking scenery, Ardmore is in the heart of the largest Irish speaking area in Ireland, and is steeped in culture, language and traditional music. There is an award winning restaurant/ bistro just 3km from our door, and the best pint of Guinness in Connemara can be sampled in our local pub Leavys, just a few minutes walk from the house.
The area is unspoilt by mass tourism, yet full of its own hidden gems, including abandoned Famine villages, ancient lake dwellings and turf cutting experience. However, it is also the perfect base to return to and relax for the evening, after you explore the major centres of Connemara, Clifden, Roundstone, The Aran Islands and Connemara National Park, all within 30km of your room. The local grocery store and bar has fresh bread and pastries, excellent coffee and a fresh deli counter. There are three restaurants within 5km of the house, serving fresh local produce.
Trá Bhuí, a beautiful Coral beach, is just a fifteen minute scenic walk, and is the most beautiful secluded beach in the west of Ireland. Grab a fresh coffee and scone at Leavys Deli to enjoy on the way. JohnJoes Fish and Chips roadside diner, is a five minute walk away, offering a variety of fresh seafood and hand cut chips, definitely not to be missed.
  • Seán is a most attentive host fulfilling, even anticipating every need. You will enjoy your breakfast warmed by a peat fire while watching songbirds outside the window. He ensures that you enjoy your visit suggesting walks to the nearby beaches and answers every question you might have. Carna is a gem of a place.

  • We had a lovely stay with Sean at his place. The room was comfortable and spacious and we could also sit in the shared lounge. Sean made us a tasty cooked breakfast the next day which was so nice! There were friendly dogs and donkeys in the field next door! It was a great stop on our drive along the ‘Wild Atlantic Way’ - highly recommend.

    Georgie2019-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely person and lovely home ! Sean and his sister are so gentle. We spent a night at Sean's place and it was perfect. Everything was very clean, and you have everything you need. I absolutely recommend, don't hesitate !

    Pascale2019-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely stunning location. The house is a few minutes walk from a beautiful little harbour, and a beautiful beach. Sean is a lovely, helpful and very thoughtful host - he had a fire on in the living room and the table ready when we returned with our fish and chips. The house is clean and very comfortable. You are 1 minute from a shop, pub and a few minutes more to the local fish and chip shop (delicious!). We highly recommend visiting! Thank you Sean.

  • Very nice and magic place!

    Janina2019-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • The Seaside B&B was one of the best we have been so far. The place is ideally located in a little island near Carna (there is a pittoresque bridge to reach the B&B). The house of Maureen is just wondeful, with a beautiful terrace over the ocean. The room is comfortable and very cosy. We had spectacular breakfasts in front of the ocean. Everything was perfect: clean and very well arranged. Maureen is very kind and helpful. We were sad to leave.

    Irene2019-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • Maureen is a great hostess. Your house is surrounded by a beautiful coastal landscape. A great place to relax.

    Walls2019-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • Going to Maureen's place is an adventure like nothing else. Getting there is beautiful, staying there is beautiful. The view from her porch is amazing, so is her breafast. And Maureen herself is such a touching and warm person! The bed is really, really soft, but we slept like babies.

    Delphine2019-04-25T00:00:00Z
  • Maureen's place is a pleasure to visit. She has an absolutely beautiful home, and the welcome is second to none. The location is idyllic for anyone looking for a getaway from it all with views to die for. I intend to visit again and make more of my time walking in the local area and discovering the hidden coves and beaches hidden among the beautiful coast line.

  • We stayed at Maureen’s Home for 2 nights. It’s a lovely house and we had a spacious room with comfortable beds. Everything was really clean and Maureen made us feel very welcome. The room where you get the breakfast has a beautiful view out to the ocean and another little island. The breakfast was lovely and more than enough for us. Maureen happily answered all our questions. We enjoyed our time there.

  • Maureen will remain the big favorite of our trip to Ireland. A beautiful house at the end of the world with a view of the sea, very quiet; a very clean room and bathroom, a soft bed, hearty and delicious breakfasts; Maureen offered us tea with cupcakes every late afternoon. Maureen is an extremely pleasant and friendly person with a lot of humor .... To advise without moderation ....

Sample fine food in our local bars/restaurants or drive to a number of exclusive hotels within a short distance of Mweenish.
  • The Barn is a fantastic place to go if you want peace and quiet and to get away from city life. The place itself is one of the best equipped Airbnbs we have been to; nearly everything has been thought of eg enough equipment to cook, some staple ingredients, an umbrella, bicycles, picnic equipment etc. Suzanne can give you advice/tips on where to go and is close by should you need her for anything. The location is great for visiting nearby sights and access to and from the island is easy. We loved the whole place even though the weather was a bit wet and cloudy; in the sunshine it must be even better.

    Claudia2019-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • For future travelers to Suzanne’s Old Barb Cottage in Carna, you will not be disappointed. What you read about the cottage in Airbnb is what you will get and more. Enjoy your stay and explore a piece of heaven. ☘️

  • Old Barn Cottage is a dream come true for those looking for peace, nature and super friendly hosts. We fell in love with the place and Connemara and are looking forward to our next stay

    Hilke2019-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • Wild and beautiful spot. Lots of thoughtful touches from Suzanne. Very cosy. Stating the obvious but bring a brollie.

    Howard2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Suzanne's cottage is out of time. It is a unique address due to its location in the wild west of Ireland. Everything is peaceful and pleasant .... It feels like home (wood stove, coffee maker, oven, washing machine) and at the same time you feel alone in the world. Suzanne is extremely kind, she had prepared cereal jam bread for us ... it is a good base for visiting the connemara. There are a lot of pretty walks to do. Do not hesitate if you want to be disoriented and calm.

    Virginie & Jonathan2019-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is a little diamond: lovely, very well equipped, clean, quiet and paceful. Suzanne is a perfect host, nice and attentive: she welcomed as with a delicious package including homemade bread and jam!

    Silvia2019-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • Suzanne and her husband Hugh gave us such a warm welcome, it's hard not to like their Old Barn Cottage. There were very thoughtful touches and the cottage supplied everything you need - and more! What we liked best was the cozy chats with the hosts, the view of the Connemara mountains from the bedroom and the mooing of the cows in the morning. Mweenish really is paradise on earth and we can't wait to go back!! Thank you, Suzanne and Hugh for making our holiday special!

    Inga2019-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • Suzanne's home is a haven of peace in a beautiful area. It is perfectly equipped, the bedding is very comfortable. We loved cycling around the area (bikes were at our disposal) and swimming in the sea. (The beaches are a short walk from the .. cottage). Upon arrival we met Suzanne who is a very friendly and enthusiastic host. She advised us on activities, restaurants, walks to do. His bread and jam were succulent! In short, an excellent stay. Thank you Suzanne.

  • Despite the availability at 18h, Anne welcomed us with coffee and biscuits, a spacious and very clean room and a good breakfast I recommend

    Chloé2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • I was travelling with my daughter for 10 days and Anne’s place was our last stop before heading back home. We were able to leave our suitcase in the BnB as we were a bit early. We were offered a cuppa but decided to get out a bit and use the playground across the road. The room was great. Very clean and spacious. The bed was extremely comfortable. Better than my own and we both slept like babies. Breakfast was included in the price. We had some tost with scrambled eggs, juice and coffee as well as continental options. Unusually stay longer in a place than just 1 night. So we will definitely be back to finish our chat Anne and Richard.

    Nicole2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • We got a really warm welcome from Anne. Lovely and very hospitable. Spacious and clean bedroom with bathroom just next door. Near the city centre. We were provided with an excellent breakfast and had a nice chat with Anne.

    Davide2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • We got this Anne's place late in the afternoon with a problem in a tyre of our car. It was late and the kitchen of the recommended restaurant was closing soon. They have arranged a tyre service to pick up the dammaged tyre from their place and they have arranged somebody from the local restaurant to pick up us and bring to the restaurant so that we can have dinner in peace instead of waiting the tyre service to arrive. Incredible!. this is what makes the difference between any hotel and AirBnB. Anne, thanks again. Unfortunately I can give you only 5 stars. :-)

    Luis2019-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • This was a true experience of Irish hospitality at its best! Anne and her husband are very kind people to get to know, and Anne really takes care of you! She helped me make dinner in the evening, checked what time I wanted breakfast and what I preferred to have, always made sure I was comfortable, and made my stay really feel very cozy and welcoming. This is a true bed and breakfast experience, and you can be sure that you won't forget how lovely your stay here will be!

  • What can I say? What an amazing experience, Nora is a natural host and made us feel like we had the place to ourselves. The house and space you have is really incredible and makes you feel like you in a 5 star hotel. All the amenities and kitchen area are first class and the beds make it very hard to get up in the morning as they’re so comfy. Nora even bakes us fresh scones every morning to top it all off. The area itself is beautiful and anyone visiting is sure to love the scenery and the amazing roads around the local area. Thanks to Nora we had one of the best holidays of our lives!

  • I would like to say Nora’s pictures don’t do justice to how beautiful and amazing her home is. This is an incredibly peaceful and beautiful spot, the views are breathtaking. The home itself has got everything you need and more and the top floor is all yours, with a fully equipped kitchen and tv etc. Nora is incredibly

  • We stayed at Nora and Martha's place for two nights while driving the Wild Atlantic Way, and we were so pleased that we did! Nora and Martha are outstanding hosts - they are both such friendly and welcoming people, and went above and beyond to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Communication with Martha leading up to our arrival was excellent, and she was only a message away during our stay if we needed anything. Simply exceptional hospitality in every aspect! Their home is beautiful and is located in an equally beautiful area. Our room was so spacious and spotlessly clean, with a delightfully comfortable bed. We were the only guests at the time of our stay, so were incredibly fortunate to have so much space (our room, the kitchen/dining area and lounge) to ourselves. However, when the rooms are fully booked, there is still so much space for every guest to enjoy as the top floor of their home (dedicated entirely to guests) is so large. Nora provides a delicious self-service breakfast each morning, with plenty of choices. The kitchen is well-equipped to prepare simple meals in the evening, and while there is no hob Nora has provided appliances to be able to cook (a grill, slow cooker, steamer etc). The view from the balcony is stunning and another highlight of our stay - a great place to spend our evenings! We loved our stayed at Nora and Martha's, and would stay here again without any hesitation. We highly, highly recommend both their amazing hospitality and their beautiful home to anyone driving the Wild Atlantic Way and/or exploring the area. We only wish that we could have stayed longer! Thank you Nora and Martha for everything!

Very clean, this unit is well heated (which is important at the end of October with young children). The communication with Maria is excellent, and you can arrive at the time that suits you. • The cottage was perfect. It was just as beautiful as it looks in the pictures, and the land and area around it are even more so. Michael met us in town and showed us to the cottage, even after we arrived later than expected. He showed us around the place and was very kind. He started a fire for us and Mairead even left the electric blankets on for when we arrived. We had everything we needed and more, and hope to be back!

  • Michael and Maggie’s place was a pure slice of heaven and the true highlight of our Thanksgiving family trip. Plenty of room for seven people. Bright airy space with comfy beds and ample heating. Tom Coyne’s bar and bistro was a great spot to get food. Highly HIGHLY recommend this spot for those looking to get away from it all and enjoy the fabulous land and sea that Connemara has to offer.

  • We couldn't have had a more amazing experience with Veronica. Right from the start she went out of her way to pick us up from the bus stop in town and take us grocery shopping. She gave us everything we needed and more, spare blankets and flowers and heaters and all. The place was amazing, two living rooms and big cozy beds, baths and a huge kitchen. Veronica also let us use the aerial yoga studio all the time, the sauna, the kayak and drove us round whenever she was going out. The area is very remote and peaceful. You can kayak around the inlet sea to islands and the local town and even a beautiful Mediterranean looking beach. The dogs were cute and affectionate and we enjoyed playing with them. Visited during October but even though it was cold outside the house was nice and warm throughout and she even put a space heater in the studio to warm it up for us when we were using it. Absolutely lovely experience and would definitely recommend it for anyone. Thanks again Dean and Chiara.

  • The accommodation is secluded - but perfectly located! Super friendly and helpful hostess with nice dogs. The sauna is an experience, try it out and then cool down in the Atlantic. We would book the accommodation again.

  • Beautiful location, nice house with large bedrooms, relatively small living room. Isolated, but we liked that. Veronica was a pleasant hostess and she had super nice dogs! And, impressive nature!

  • Great place to stay. Highly recommended. Beautiful surroundings.

    Diane2019-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • Veronica has a great spot in an out-of-the-way place. We loved watching the sunset from the sauna, and enjoying the absolute quiet. The yoga studio was amazing and a great way to unwind. The place is a bit out-of-the-way, but if you want an experience that makes you feel like you really are experiencing Ireland, this is definitely a great choice.

    Vera2019-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • I had a fabulous time in Veronica’s guest house, it’s an absolut peaceful place far away from any distractions in a perfect environment to switch off. The scenery is just beautiful! The house as 2 lovely bedrooms, a good equipped kitchen and 2 bathrooms. The living room is very sweet with a wonderful view off the Atlantic and there are several white beaches close by. I would definitely come back. Thanks for the wine, the scones and the milk!

Superb new Traditional Cottage with luxury finish - only 300 metres from the coast, nestling between the Twelve Pins and the Atlantic. Dramatic views of the mountains, lakes and sea. An ideal relaxing getaway, perfect for exploring Connemara's landscape of flora and fauna, unspoilt beaches, mountain ranges and the beautiful Western Way walking routes.
  • We had a wonderful stay at Bryan's cottage, it is lovely and close to so many beaches and walks, it was great for the dogs and us. It was way bigger than we needed so we only used the downstairs! The fire was perfect and keep the place and us nice a toastie. The cottage was very clean and Bryan is great to communicate with. I would highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a rural getaway.

  • Well appointed, extremely spacious, home from home cottage in the most beautiful location. Spotlessly clean with everything you need. Roundstone, Cashel, Carna all in a short very scenic drive and just over ten mins off the N59 for getting out and about in the rest of Connemara. Excellent value.

  • Amazing location with wonderful scenery. Easy communication with host. Truly a great week long stay

  • Very beautiful region, beautiful hikes to do.

    Marie2019-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • Gite very well located in the heart of Connemara. Clifden (the capital although very small: D) is about 30Km away for shopping and there is a PUB / Resto / Gift Shop close to the cottage. There is everything you need in the cottage, it is spacious and nice and little more: the fire peat in the evening after the hike is very pleasant and feels very good: D. We were very happy with our stay!

  • Super nice holiday cottage very clean and very well equipped thank you

  • Bryan’s place was really lovely and cosy. Perfect for us four friends. There was an upstairs we really didn’t use so could accommodate even more. The house was spotlessly clean and everything you wanted was available. It feels quite big inside but also has a warm log cabin type feel at the same time. It’s in a stunning area with loads of great walks and drives. The locals are all really lovely and welcoming and the Glynsk house pub across the road was a fabulous place to spend New Year’s Eve with plentiful food and fun. We fell in love with the area and loved the retreat feel of being nested in Bryan’s house by the open fire. Bryan was brilliant with his communication and the house was very easy to find with google maps. Can’t wait to return!

    Sam2019-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Bryan house is very nice, big and comfortable. It's in the countryside of the Connemara between the ocean, the land and the lakes. We were 7 with children and we had a great time in family.

  • We were a little nervous as this was our first Airbnb booking. Very pleased with our decision. Conroy's Cottage was beautiful, tastefully decorated with some very practical, thoughtful touches for families. Three generations of our family stayed (4 nights) and the cottage accommodated our needs very well. For discovering the Atlantic Way, Conroy's Cottage is a perfect base and with the golden sands of Moyrus Beach within walking distance (or a 2 min drive), it ticks the box for easy kids entertainment. There was nobody else there (except a local farmers sheep dog who kept the kids entertained fetching sticks) on both our visits, so we essentially had our own private beach! Impossible to guarantee good weather all the time on the west coast of Ireland, so the fact that the cottage has Sky TV and WiFi meant that we were able to stay cosy and keep the kids entertained regardless. The log burner using peat (Irish turf) was a lovely touch that reflects how most houses in Connemara were (or still are) heated. The eldest in our party (Grandad) is a local from Ardmore and he took great pride in lighting the fire and keeping it burning. Thank you very much to the Conroy family, it was a pleasure to meet you and we're looking forward to returning.

  • We had a great time at the cottage. Caroline was a great host and we would recommend staying here to anyone.

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Conroy Cottage, the property was much cosier and larger than expected with a lovely double height living space equipped with a lovely wood-burner. The wood burner also heated the water which was an impressive eco-touch! Caroline was an excellent and attentive host, responding to our requests quickly and allowing us space to enjoy the house and surroundings - thank you Caroline!

  • We wanted a break from the fast lane and we certainly got it. We booked a break in the rugged west for 3 families so 6 adults and 5 kids and Lizzie’s house worked a treat. The kitchen worked really well for meals with a big table and a little table the perfect set up for adults and kids tables. The views out to the bay are stunning and the bedrooms are spacious, clean and comfortable and they are all en suite too so plenty of space to relax too. The living room had a lovely open fire with an endless supply of turf and firefighter for a cosy night in. You can walk down to the coast and the kids loved heading down to the rocks. It’s remote but a few mins drive away is a shop, playground and a pub. Overall a excellent stay and Lizzie left us a lovely welcome hamper, lots of fuel for the fire and plenty of towels and sheets. She also kept in touch to make suggestions as to which beaches to go too. So a big thank you to Lizzie. Would certainly recommend!

  • We were warmly welcomed by Cliodna's mother. The apartment was clean, provided enough space for us five and everything was there, even food for breakfast. We had problems with our rental car, but the father of Cliodhna really helped us a lot!

  • Charming little house, well moved, warm with its wooden interior, very clean and ideally located to shine in the region of Connemara. We had a great welcome and a very good exchange with Cliodhna's mom.

  • Well located cottage, on the wild Atlantic way. Very well furnished, simple but comfortable. Hostess little crossed, but warm and attentive.

    Jacques2018-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • Nice house (lot of wood), nice place to visit connemara (national park, Clifden, beautiful Beaches ...) nice hosts! Pretty little house with lots of wood, no frills, attentive hosts, starting point for the connemara, perfect for a family of 4, 5 or 6 people ... Little more for the kids this summer: The kitten probably abandoned by his mother that we had fun to feed and to caress :) We would stay more! I recommend !

    Carole2018-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Cliodhna's home is a perfect place to enjoy the peace and quiet of the area. We were warmly welcomed by Cliodhna's mother and niece who are absolutely delightful people. It was so touching that they came to see how we were doing every day and whether they could help us in any way. Being a tour guide himself, her brother provided us with a lot of tips and ideas for things to do in the area as well as the Cliffs of Moher and Galway. The cottage has spectacular views of the ocean, especially from the top bedroom. It's a wonderful place to relax and enjoy long walks. The pub, which is a few minutes walk from the house, serves a refreshing pint and delicious food (especially their seafood chowder and Irish stew) at reasonable prices. Live music on Sundays which we unfortunately missed. A must visit when you're in the area. There's also a little store next to the pub, but we did our shopping on our drive to Kilkieran as the prices here are rather steep as expected in a little village. Really can't complain about anything! We would love to be back and perhaps stay even longer this time. Thanks Cliodhna!

Our home is located in the village of Carna, approximately 78km from Galway City in the heart of Connemara. Carna village is a small quaint village with a number of small local shops, a hotel that serves food daily, three bars, two of which serve food daily also. They offer a wide selection of fresh fish, sourced from local fishermen. This house is centrally located to all of these venues, and is within walking distance to live music venues and pubs. This is an ideal location for a relaxing break or a retreat. Experience the local views and walks. Mynish Island is within walking distance, where you will find numerous beaches that are quiet and secluded.

  • We enjoyed our stay at Anne's house. The view of the bay from the room was fantastic, also was the breakfast. The stone floor in the living room was quite cold but the fire in the fireplace was cosy. We can definitely recommend the place.
