Our modern home is 15 minutes drive from Taupo but still feels like a secret hideaway. It is quiet and private with majestic views of Lake Taupo and Mount Ruapehu - the sunsets are stunning. We LOVED staying here! The view was something else. The house was super warm. All amenities were clean and the house was cosy. This was only a short drive to the Redwoods. Melanie was really responsive and we really enjoyed our stay.

Lovely little room with a great view. We went knowing it was a room on one end of someones home so no surprises (I think this may have threw some reviewers). Waking up with a coffee and the view over the lake made it so we had trouble finding the will to leave in the morning. The host was responsive and gave us our privacy also.

Cool, calm and connected to its stunning setting, this summit-level sanctuary is hidden away, escaping the noise of the world. Perfect space to recharge, almost floating with the clouds. Swing chairs and blackout window treatments are the perfect addition to this restorative getaway. Showcases New Zealand beautifully. (Fresh basil a lovely touch too, thanks Kelly).

My partner and I had a wonderful stay at Czar's Rest. Morag was a thoughtful and kind host. We loved the beautiful surroundings and the home was peaceful and private. We had come down for a local night trail running event and were very grateful for the tub to soak in afterwards!
