Located on Kiyomizu-cho, just one street away from Yasaka Shrine, it is within walking distance of famous attractions such as Ishibei Koji, Sannenzaka, Ninenzaka, Kodaiji Temple, etc. The most representative building in Kyoto is Kyomachiya, and among Kyomachiya, "Sukiya" is the most precious. In order to preserve the historical and cultural value of the house, it was fully renovated in 2017, based on the restoration of the original appearance. It is open to the public in the form of a homestay. Reikaku Yasaka was a building in ruins with the floor tilted by at least 30cm when we discovered this hidden jewel. The restoration was particularly difficult due to the state it was in but our craftsman’s determination to bring this Machiya back to its formal glory paid off for Reikaku Yasaka. The house was an Ochaya (literally "tea house")before and we renovated it, which is an establishment where patrons are entertained by geisha. We kept the original structure and make it much more modern and comfortable. The river in front of the house is the must-see in Kyoto changing from cherry bloom to maples. The best location near Gojo bridge and Kiyomizuーgojo sta. can make it very convenient to all the famous spots.
